Great service and delicious food! We arrived at 2.50pm and kitchen closed at 3pm but they were happy to accommodate, which was fantastic. All of our meals were amazing and our waiter was friendly and attentive. Also, love the Powerhouse! It's a fantastic venue. We'll definitely be back.

Bar Alto at the Powerhouse is the most relaxed and beautiful place to go and have a drink and a snack or a light meal. A lovely breeze, the Brisbane river, lots of room on the huge deck overlooking the river, never too crowded, and easy to get to. Courteous, friendly and polite staff, great food. And housed in our wonderful Powerhouse. Highly recommend any day of the week.

My best friend invited us for dinner before a show at the Powerhouse. Had always avoided because I suspected it was one of those restaurants with the very fancy menu, even fancier prices, where reality is usually an expensive let down.
Sadly, yet again I was right ☹️. Ordered the recommended special of Whiting and warm green salad. Came with a comment about May contain the odd small bone. Well, it was basically inedible. Every mouthful had remnants of bone and I spent 5 minutes per bite carefully manoeuvring bones to politely remove by hand. I would have sent back but friends were paying. The warm green salad was 5 beans cut in half.
One of the table had the octopus. Not sure why it was on the mains list! One miserable tentacle that should have been a starter but on a ‘fancy’ menu they feel it’s okay.
Limited beer menu that had none I actually like.
Service was professional but a bit stiff and formal. Not relaxed or happy staff. Overall, overpriced and not once asked how the meal was. Probably just as well.

Last night, 17 May,, we purchased drinks and meals at 6.05 pm prior to attending a 7 pm show. They were busy but I was assured that we had left plenty of time for 3 small bar food snacks.
The buzzer went off to say the food was ready about 1 1/2 minutes before the announcement to proceed into the show. There was no time to eat it so we just gave it away! The couple seated next to us outside had to do the same thing.
They know their capacity and the time limits they have to work with in that venue. It’s just not good enough to accept orders if you can’t deliver.

Wonderful location on the river with plenty of outdoor seating. Had a bite to eat before a show and the pizza was tasty. Not a huge selection of beers on tap, service was quick though. The Italian sausage pizza was a bit dry and flavorless but the prosciutto pizza was yummy. Overall a good place to come of you’re already at be powerhouse

Yeah like so this is a nice place. Great view. Confident menu. I would say their wine list is a highlight, and they sure have a lot of pigeons a lot (though none on the menu as at May 2019!)
I went here with my daughter and my wife. Pleasingly, they did not have a microwave to heat up my daughter’s food, which was mildly inconvenient while admirable in that they Cook Their Food Well.
The peppers were a recommendation from the waitress and were quite good. I don’t like croquettes, but their salt cod croquettes held up very nicely. I thought the octopus was a bit tough - it was probably the most disappointing dish. Both pasta mains held up, though the gnocchi was a touch too delicate.
Good service, good atmosphere. Enjoy!

Been here a number of times, but tonight was another level. The burrata with figs and hazelnut cream was heaven on a plate! The beetroot ravioli with parmesan cream sauce was complex and earthy, quite phenomenal!!! The eye fillet dish was overflowing with robust flavours. Everything was faultless. Complements to the chef.

This place just keeps getting better! The flavours and creativity is nothing other than brilliant! The pasta is made fresh and is sensational. The wait staff are attentive, friendly and have personality! The wine list is always on point. Hands down my favourite Resteraunt is Brisbane!

Sorry love the location and buzz of the place has but our food today was average! We eat in the bar so simpler food but just not carried off well enough. The menu reads of interesting flavour combinations, clearly written by a Chef who knows his/hers ingredients. A Focaccia of porchetta, tuna mayonnaise, tomato and rocket was toasted nicely but lacked enough filling and was dry. My Wife had the potato, pear and taleggio cheese pizza, this was lacking flavour and was hard to taste much cheese and the potato was cold! Prices are understandable not cheap here as it's a premium location but you need the product right guys.

Although not the quiet place for a romantic dinner on a Sat night, well worth a visit for a terrific meal, catch up with friends or drink by the river!! Going back!!!!

What is not to love about this fabulous space, the food, the wine, the staff. After many many afternoon strolls that ended up here. I have to say it is my favourite New Farm location. Whether we are after just a casual drink, a coffee (definately with their amazing Macarons) or a more substantial dinner this place nails it. The bar food is delicous and generous in portion size. The staff behind the bar are always friendly and helpful. And not to mention the awesome restaurant section staff. Best maître d, he's a gem. Add the benefits of the live music, comedy, art or outside area and it really is winner. Thanks Bar Alto - you rock.

Yet again, a perfect meal. My husband & I saw a show at the Powerhouse & had dinner and drinks at Bar Alto first. Everyone knew we had a show to see and made sure we ate with plenty of time to spare. I promise myself I'll try a new dish but I'm yet to stray from the Strozzapreti. My favourite meal anywhere, by far. Thanks for the consistently amazing taste of this meal! Please never ever take it off the menu �

Not bad for food. My four year old got a dress code warning as he took his thongs off while out on the deck. It would be funny if the waiter wasn't so serious about it. Perhaps they should have a bouncer at the door to enforce these unpublished regulations.

How excellent can you get? Service is professional and seamless, food is modern Italian with ideal freshness and herbal flavour - just like Mama would have made full of love and slow cooked goodness.
The setting is relaxing and close to nature.
Words fail me - my favourite restaurant in Brisbane! Many many thanks to the wait staff AND the kitchen staff for their efforts to provide many wonderful meals.
Above opinion based on many visits - without Bar Alto missing a beat!

The food was delicious. Our waitress with the Red glasses on was not only beautiful on the outside but inside as well. She was so gracious and worldly with our crazy funny group. We did tell her that Kevin and I came from Kingaroy and she should come to Kingaroy one day and sample the peanuts. They are the best.........a bit like Bar Alto!!!
