Gave a surprise birthday dinner for my wife and the food and service was excellent. We had not been for about four years but nothing has changed which is a good thing as we've always found it to be top notch.
After not visiting for four years, my husband organised a 50th Birthday for me. Let me tell you, the food is just as good, if not better, as it was when I first fell in love with Modern Thai!!! Had the best night and the best food ever!
What a great little place.The food was amazing and the staff lovely.The strawberry icecream was amazing and the Thai Basil Beef a must try.I would recommend it to anybody who loves good food and a lovely atmosphere.
Food was exceptional. I had coral trout - the best cooked fish dish I've ever had. Lime, coriander and chilli yum. Beaut chocolate fudge cake too. Decor is gorgeous and service was smooth and pleasant. I will be back even though it is not on my side of town!

Our meal was D I V I N E! Thai chargrilled BBQ chicken was beautifully cooked with crispy skin and delicious marinade. The coconut chilli lamb curry had lovely flavours. But our piece de resistance was the BBQ pork belly. The taste was a sensation and the crackling was perfection. To make the whole experience a joy, the wait staff were pleasant and professional and the owner was very warm and welcoming. We will be back!

My dad-in-law actually booked the wrong Thai Restaurant. Little did we know that we would get to experience the best Thai Restaurant (so far) that we’ve been to. The place was 4/5, not too posh but ambience was great. The staff were very polite and seemed well trained/professional. It took a bit of time to get our food but it provided us ample time to talk and catch up with family. Appetiser came and it was well presented, in addition to it tasting really great. The drinks menu wasn’t a disappointment as well. I am a sweet tooth so I like sweet wine. The waiter introduced us this moscato called Lana, it was so good. I finished more than half of the bottle. Haha. Each of us ordered a main meal and a bowl of rice to share. Then the mains arrived. The rice was personally served by the waitress, and the main dish was just so beautiful we took gazillion photos right away. The serving size didn’t seem much but by the time we finished, we were really full. THE FOOD WAS YUMMY. It was indeed a gastronomical experience. The flavours explode in your mouth and the meat is cooked perfectly. The price was also very reasonable and justified. All worth every single cent. Come dessert time, we almost didn’t make it as almost all of us were so full. I ordered Coffee Log and OMG it was so good, can’t describe it. Reminds me of the mocha roll we used to order in my home country (so nostalgic), added with ganache and good plating. We may have found a winner here; another favourite.
Ordered takeaway through the website- very smooth process. Order was ready on my arrival ten minutes later, even though the restaurant was still busy. Ambience in the dining room was nice, although it was quite noisy. Food wise, everything was fresh and tasty. Be warned though, curries are a bit on the spicy side. Prices are a bit high, but nothing outrageous.
I went to a family dinner here last Friday. We ordered one dish per person plus rice. I initially thought that the meals were small however but the end of the meal there was nothing left but everyone was full. Their sizing was perfect. The highlights for me were the char-grilled Thai BBQ chicken & the Thai roast duck. An unassuming shop front but well worth a visit.

Eventually arranged to have a dinner last night at this award-winning Thai restaurant. Dining area is surprisingly large with modernised décor and cosy vibe. Wait staff are all very friendly with sweet smile during service. Ordered the Thai Spring Roll, Tom Yum Goong, House Special of Choo Chee Coral Trout and Red Curry Duck with Lychee to go with coconut rice. Love the crispy feeling of the Spring Rolls but the Tom Yum was average only. Coral Trout gained back more marks with crispy batted in very nice fragrant curry flavour. Duck meat was juicy and the Lychee nearly misled me they were fresh instead of tinned food. Well done! Overall, this restaurant deserves the award and is highly recommended to foodies.

The ambience was as modern as the name of the restaurant, and surprisingly the waitresses were professional. Normally there were only Thai staff worked in Thai restaurants, but a couple of staff were from different nationalities and spoke fluent English. The service was great. At the first glance on the menu, food seemed a little pricey compared with other Thais in the same area. When our food were served, the huge portions made their prices reasonable. Our chef's special chicken mince and Thai eggplants stir fry with curry paste tasted so authentic, stir fry cashew nut was full of favours, and Pad Thai was way better than most of Thai restaurants where sweet taste was overwhelming! Overall we had a yummy experience there. Might be back if adding up new specials as nothing much interesting on the menu.

This restaurant is our go to Thai place. Always great service, even when doing take away. The food is fantastic... the best curry I have ever had. Every time I've brought a guest here, they've been super impressed also.
Quality of the food and service was excellent! We had the banquet and the portions were very generous. Only negative is that it was very hard to hear one another, the restaurant want busy so it was the the people around. Considering the pricrs, decor was a little too simple but not a big negative. Highly recommended!!!!
Really good food and excellent service. Organized my brother's 18th here a couple of years ago and it went very smoothly for a reasonable price. However, it tends to be always busy, so generally you need to book in advance. However, I always recommend this place to family and friends, and have gone on multiple occassions.
I had a wonderful dinner time experience last night, at Modern Thai. The food was superb, and included some very different and innovative meals not normally seen on the standard Thai restaurant menu. Our waiter was wonderful, very helpful, friendly and attentive. I was in a party of 6 and we all commented how much we enjoyed the dinner and that we would definitely be back.

Today is Father's day, and as expected, every restaurant is packed. Luckily we booked well in advance so we were able to grab ourselves a reservation in this beautiful Thai restaurant. Been dying to try this place out as it has always been highly recommended amongst our friends for a very long time. Decor was trendy and elegant, seats were comfortable, venue was clean, staff were professional, really friendly and helpful; and service was impeccable. All dishes were very well executed and delivered promptly. Only negative was our green curry being little too sweet for my tasting and the protein was slightly overcooked but overall was still very well balanced with the rest of the flavors. The Hot Wok Duck was the hero of the night! Amazing traditional Thai flavors with a slight modern twist hence matches their name "Modern Thai". Prices were not high at all, very reasonable and considerably cheap when compared with their excellent quality. Well done, love this place, we will definitely return again!
Oh wow! Every time I come here for dine in or takeaway Im impressed. The food and staff are both on point and so well priced for the quality. Last night we ordered a Spicy Beef Salad which was just the right amount of tangy and love the fact that it had real ingredients, not just lettuce. Also ordered a lamb Massaman curry which had a beautiful depth of flavour and the sauce was so light which I loved because I could go back for seconds without feeling bloated afterwards. The rice was really fluffy as well which sounds like a small detail but made such a difference to my experience. One thing I'd like different is if my veggie spring rolls had a thinner batter but they were still super tasty and we easily finished them. What a gem this place is! I couldn't recommend Modern Thai enough!

Had a birthday party here on a Saturday night. 10 people in total. Service was excellent with lots of staff working . All Vibe was very good and food was good maybe marginally expensive .. Would recommended . Best dishes Roast Duck and Pork belly .
Food and ambience wonderful. After contemplating whether to try kinn Thai at garden city or this place we settled for modern thai. the ambience was absolutely wonderful. the best I have seen for a Thai restaurant. for entree we ordered their beef curry puffs which was light and crispy on the outside and the vege spring rolls which I didn't get a chance to try. for mains we ordered the red duck curry and the pad thai. duck curry was full of flavour, couldn't fault it in any way. I could probably eat the entire thing with nothing but the sauce and coconut rice. that's how good it was. the pad thai was a disappointment however as it was missing the sweet punch that most pad thai have. still managed to scrape the plate clean after everyone was full to the brim. overall a great dining experience which I definitely will be coming back for.
Enjoyable atmosphere and food. Nice atmosphere and service. The food is probably not authentic enough as it has been changed to suit local taste buds, but they are still delicious. I enjoyed their satay chicken and Panang chicken curry (too much chicken haha). Great texture of the chicken and so as the prawns in the king prawn salad. Personally like the coconut rice. Overall the food is a bit less strongly flavored then the real Thai food but still enjoyable.

Expensive Thai. OK I will admit a little more upmarket and expensive Thai food to what I'm used to but the food is brilliant. The yellow curry melts in your mouth and for the price you get VERY good service.

Delicious Every Time. I've been getting take away from this restaurant for the past 5 or so years and it is always delicious! I've eaten in a few times, including having my mothers 60th birthday party there with close family and friends - about 15 adults and a baby and it was great! Everyone had a fabulous time! The food is outstanding, and decor and service is wonderful!
We ordered the coconut beef curry and green chicken curry. The coconut beef curry sauce tasted amazing, but there wasn't enough sauce and the beef was rather dry. But overall a positive experience, I would recommend.

Cod curry and pad Thai did its job in filling the hole after a 45min wait ... Tom Kar Kai is sweet ... I do have a question as to where is my same sum tum ... where ... *cry

What a sensational restaurant!. I can't urge you strongly enough to visit this restaurant. I can't remember the last time I visited and restaurant where everything exceeded my expectations. Every dish was exceptional. The chicken spring rolls were the best I've had anywhere. The honey chicken was the best I've had anywhere. I don't say these things lightly. The service was excellent and the atmosphere friendly.

As with a lot of other Thai restaurants, desserts are an area of neglect. They look delicious but the same things have been on the menu for years . . . how about a seasonal approach rather than winter desserts all year round?
We are very lucky that this is our local Thai restaurant- we are never disappointed whether we are dining in or getting take away! The staff are lovely, the food is GREAT. We often invite friends here for a dinner catch up. It's a little more expensive than your standard suburban Thai restaurant but it's definitely worth it!

Every meal is extremely flavorsome and the ingredients are so fresh you would think they have a vegie garden out the back. The service from the waitresses is spot on, (not too much and not too little). Great food and service for the price.
Was a Regular Takeaway Customer until moving away.!. Ever since I took my wife here for her birthday in 2008, we loved the place. Service was good, food & wine great, but could use an upscaling of their beer selection. But then, when in Bankok, have a Shinga...
We only returned once more to dine in as we found the ambience when busy a bit too loud for a good conversation, but it became an almost weekly dinner event for takeaway. It's one place I miss after moving away from the area earlier this year.

Fantastic Service, Great Food. We tried this restaurant as it was in our 'hood and the reviews were great. We weren't disappointed. With my partner being a confirmed carnivore and me being a vegetarian it is often difficult to find a restaurant that caters well to both of us. YUM. We both chose a House Speciality - Hot Wok Duck for him and Satay Bean Curd (Tofu) for me. Lovely staff, great ambience, delicious food, Highly recommend - and definitely not expensive.
Best Thai on the Southside. Food at Modern Thai is amazing, fresh, delicious and quick. Service is impeccable, the staff make you feel welcome and looked after. I frequent this restaurant at least once a fortnight and if I don't go regularly enough, I have cravings for their sweet chilli jam stir-fry and Pad Thai. Much better service and food than many of the other Thai places on the south side!
A nice surprise. Came here a few months ago for a birthday dinner. Thought this was going to be slightly westernised thai food but it was better than expected - it was basically authentic thai food in a nice modern restaurant! Flavours were good and the tea we ordered was also very nice (sometimes you can tell how good an asian restaurant is by the quality of tea they use). It's definitely a place I'd come back to even though it means a bit of a longer drive than other thai places near me!
Beautiful!. We had our engagement party here last Saturday. I knew the food was great as we'd been there once before....but they really outdid themselves.
We had 30 people and even though some people backed out at the last minute (so I had to change the numbers on them) they staff were gracious and attentive. I had friends with young children who hadn't eaten (wasn't expecting this) but the staff made a honey chicken for them with no fuss or problems. We were there quite late and not once did the staff appear to want to rush us out...They really made the night a success for us.
And the food! my goodness the food was gorgeous. We had a banquet and I had so many comments on the freshness and taste of the food..and everyone had heaps to eat! The seafood was so fresh it must have been caught that day!
My fiance and I will be going back and we've made sure everyone at work knows about this place :)

Lunch was really good! Service was friendly and warm. Food taste really authentic. I love that they have kids meal. The pork skewers were dry and a little smelly tho. Otherwise everything was good! Lunch deals are a must!

Siam Samraran is a lovely restaurant in the Soda Factory, West End. The place has outdoor seating facing the car park. While the outdoor seating is nice, the flies are pesky. The food is really good and flavourful and the staff are wonderful, very polite and helpful. The hostess is very sweet and knowledgeable about the menu. They have #Gluten Free main courses however the starters are limited to 2 unfortunately. The staff are aware of Gluten Free dishes and can help you choose.
The steamed Baramundi in Ginger was delicious and so was the Pad Thi. The Masamman curry was tasty but lacked the authentic taste. The # Gluten Free chicken satay and # GF Pork skewer were tasty but slightly over cooked and tough. The #GF Pad Thai was one of the better Pad Thais I've had very tasty but skimped on the prawns, there were only 4 big prawns. Probably better to go for chicken so it's evenly spread in the dish.
Overall a good meal. I've been twice and will go back again. Good food and ambience and great service!
