We came here with a group yesterday and was impressed. Overlooking the river. So came here today with partner only for dinner. Friendly courteous staff and attentive of our requirements. Limited but available vegetarian options as well. Thanks management keep up the good work
We celebrated my parents 60th Wedding Anniversary in the Private Function Room at The Jellyfish last Saturday evening. There were 22 of us and we had a fabulous time. The room was perfect for our group, plus it has great views of the river and Story Bridge. The food was nice, albeit not cheap. Our waiter, Stuart was first class, he was very attentive, I don’t think that anyone had to touch a bottle of wine as he was always there to top it up.
Very pleasant lunchtime experience at this beautiful riverside location. I had the Humpty Doo whole Barra (which isn’t as spectacular as it sounds when you come from the NT and know that Humpty Do is a fish farm) but it was delicious and the accompanying service top notch. One of my faves in Brisbane and has never disappointed
Tried dinner here on a Thursday night. We shared entrees of oysters and tuna tartare which were both very fresh and delicious. The bugs for main were served with a nice Japanese sauce and cooked well. The ocean trout main was crispy and fresh. The cauliflower salad side was very yummy. We had the trio of desserts and they were all delicious! Great fresh seafood, friendly staff. Very noisy dining area though and very expensive so I’d only go for a special Occassion, and maybe go early or late so it’s quieter!
Went with a group and the food - mainly seafood is very fresh and can’t be faulted. As usual it took some time to arrive and for three modest courses the bill was $80 per head for l food plus drinks. If you can say the name of the drink they will make it and serve it. Sweet lip slightly under steamed but still very nice and fresh. Steaks for those who prefer. Superlative actually excellent service and nothing too hard. Complimentary cocktails what’s not to like. A beautiful view over the river which is so close it floods during big water events. A beautiful room available for banquets so don’t hesitate for that larger group.
Big table for 14 here last night without a booking. Great venue with a good view of the river. It’s an interesting choice if, like me, you don’t eat seafood. Apparently all the fish options were good though, including the complimentary salmon served with a coconut dressing in serving spoons. As for me, I had the onion risotto, the only (affordable) non-seafood thing on the menu I felt like. It was a little bland but ok. Good choice of wines, good service and they allowed us to split the bill which always helps when you’re out in a big group.
Many thanks to all the staff at Jellyfish for making our 33rd Wedding Anniversary a special and memorable event. Food and service was superb and would recommend to anyone wanting to celebrate a special event.👍🍷😍
Could not fault the service , food or location. We tried a series of entrees , Natural Oysters , Sashimi , Crab Ceviche, Scallops and the Crispy Iceberg lettuce salad. A very substantial wine list to choose from. A bit pricey but the quality backed it up.
Food was good, but not good enough for the high price, no high chairs , definitely not family friendly. No Christmas decorations for holiday, never really changed their menu, first time and second were ok, I don’t think I will go back again.
Ive been here a few times. The fish is always cooked perfectly. I had a wholes flathead here once and it was the best fish I ever had. Unfortunately I came in for a lunch one day and the service was terrible. Our drinks were empty and had to chase the waiters. My partner had a whole fish with a Thai sauce and the scales from the fish were all in the sauce. This was one bad time out of many good ones. I would definitely recommend going for dinner a better experience
The Jellyfish experience is out of this world. My partner brought me here for a special birthday dinner back in March and I loved everything we tried. From the moment you arrive, you're dazzled by the sparkling water views, beautiful decor and the overall ambience. The food is delicious and if you're a seafood-lover, you must try this one.
My amazing partner took me here for my thirtieth birthday. Staff were delightful helpful and attentive. It was great to have a choice of fish more then just barra or salmon. I had the orange roughy perfectly crumbled and cooked . Sides we large and accompanied the dish well. Partner had the whole fish of the day flounder he loved it. The only critical point is that was a bit pricey. The view is lovely overlooking the river and the story bridge.
Decore seemed to be more 5 star inside and 3 star outside.
A must for any pescatarians. The highlight was a crispy fried whole baby baramundi with soy & spring onion. Great textures with crunchy skin & soft flesh. Fresh produce cooked well, attentive wait staff & views of the Brisbane river will always a winning combination. The meal wasn't cheap but the experience made it worthwhile.
Brought some out of town friends to jellyfish for lunch to enjoy the beautiful view. Was a quiet day but we all enjoyed our meals and the staff were more than accommodating of our baby.
I had a table of 17 for my bday dinner and I was very happy with the service provided , our waiter was outstanding and very accommodating to help with all our needs .The food was amazing and the sushimi was out of this world ! Hats to you all and thank you for a pleasurable night I will be dining here again and very soon !!
First time here, didn't have a booking but luckily got a table (it was a Friday night and was very busy).
Overall it was pretty good, though it was a bit understaffed, had to wait a while for a staff to come and take our orders....but staffs were very polite and friendly. Our waiter, in particular, was very nice, polite and patient (I have been served by too many rude or unfriendly staffs in the past in other restaurants....), but I forgot to catch his name...
Despite the long wait for our orders to be taken, luckily the kitchen did a good job. With the restaurant being so busy, we received our entrees less than 10 min after our order. I had the sashimi and another friend had the scallops. Both were nice, though probably would try something different next time.
For mains, I had swordfish which was cooked perfectly (i ordered medium)! Not tough (as it can be, if cooked bad) and was JUST RIGHT! My partner had cobia, which was tender and cooked perfectly too!
My friend had the whole baby barra (fried), it was pretty big serving, looked amazing..though I probably wouldn't order that again. Just personal preference I guess, it was a bit dry and overcooked for me, but it wasn't too bad (my friend did finish the whole fish clean).
Would definitely return!
Christopher our waiter totally made the night. Find him and you'll order everything perfectly and will leave completely satisfied. The highlight was a recommendation for a port at the end of the night. He described this port as "angels dancing on my tongue" brilliant!
Not our best night at Jellyfish. It was Saturday, it was buzzing but overcrowded and understaffed. Views spectacular and food special although choices were fewer than previously. Disappointing for the price
A special night for the special lady, and oh how the stars aligned for our tastebuds. Best oysters I've ever had. The horseradish sorbet gave them this amazing refreshing sweetness – they could have acted as a dessert. Went large and took on the signature whole baby barra. Couldn't believe how much delicious meat was to be found. THEN, just to top it off, our waiter-cum-general funnyman kicked a serious goal by sorting the wife out with a little surprise parfait plate for the day of the birth – complete with lush hibiscus flower. I'd also like to recommend the Dog Point sav blanc. Was told it smelled dusty; definitely smelled like piss. The joys of barrel fermentation. But the taste?! Nectar of the gods type shiz. Get around the Jellyfish, yo!
Brilliant seafood restaurant, with a comprehensive menu. The food is amazing; ambience in excellent. A lovely place for a romantic dinner overlooking the river.
Restaurant right on the riverfront that specializes in seafood. The fish they utilize in their meals changes often so worth going back.
Had the grilled Mahi Mahi - cooked perfectly and served with a Nori butter. Was very tasty! Had some entrees (oysters, sashimi and scallops) which was great at whetting the appetite.
Service was very good, waitstaff could use a bit more training, but on the whole the experience was good. Ambiance is nice, although it can get a little loud given its location.
My parents and I were extremely satisfied with Jellyfish.
It was a chilly night but we didn't miss out on a river view, they have a great indoor/outdoor setup where all the French doors are wide open and people at outside tables have gas heaters.
One of the first things our waiter said was 'our chefs are very flexible' which I love. I think it shows confidence in your skills to promise good food even if it's not how you originally designed it. I changed the batter and sauce of my fish (not a big modification I know) and the waiter had helpful advice, and knew lots of detail about other dishes when we asked.
Between us three we had gurnard, barramundi, swordfish and kingfish - all absolutely divine. The concept they seem to be going for is simplicity while retaining flavor, and I think they totally nail it.
The side that blew us away was the charred pumpkin, a great flavor combination. The potatoes and Asian veggies were nothing special but good filler, as you don't get carbs or salad or anything with your fish. The sides are tiny though, ignore the advice about sharing, or if you do then order 1.5 x the number of people.
Service was pretty much what you expect at a fancy restaurant, no complaints there. It was a Sunday and we ate kind of late so the place was quiet and the atmosphere is really welcoming, we lingered and watched tropical fish on two wall-mounted TVs (a strange but lovely touch)
Of course it's expensive, how could seafood at Eagle St Pier not cost a bomb??? In my opinion, it's worth it if you're looking to treat yourself.
I been here due to work functions and I'm not much of a raw seafood eater but the meals I ordered were awesome so definitely no complaints however their prices are very expensive but then again it is the city with a view of the story bridge and the river.
Beautiful location, service very friendly and prompt. Little pricey though. I had the Blue Eye with jalapeño Mayo for nearly $40 it wasn't worth it, was basically deep fried fish and plain Mayo. Sides are a hi-light, the Asian greens and pumpkin were delicious, though again for $10, overpriced. My friends had the Tuna, it looked beautiful and they said it was delicious. Great wine selection. You're clearly paying for the view here which is worth it. I would visit again when I'm next in Brissy.
The Best Seafood Restaurant in Brisbane by daylight to the rest. If you haven't experienced Jellyfish yet you have been missing out. Expensive, but well and truly worth every penny. Special occasions or trying to impress a date, this ticks all the boxes
Very nice restaurant, the fish was fantastic and very flavorsome. The sides were nice too but thought it was a little pricey to have to pay 10 for a side salad after 40 for a piece of fish, however the rent for the restaurant must be astronomical so i can see where they are coming from. The gyoza are to die for - a must have when dining here!! The service and drinks and atmosphere where also great so all in all, Jellyfish is great experience! Will be back!
Beautiful river view and excellent service and recommendation by the waiter. Had oysters two ways, and superb piece of john dory - perfectly cooked with tomato emulsion sauce. dutch cream potato mash was yummy too.
Although I came here on a week day, Jellyfish is always full of patrons endulging in fresh seafood. I ordered a combination of snapper in saffron batter with ginger vinegarette and grilled mahi mahi with nori butter. The fish was succulent and moist! I couldn't get enough of the mahi mahi! I also ordered side dishes including the tomato, shoestring fries (slightly overcooked and burnt) and Asian greens. The service for that night was fantastic with a bit of cheeky humour, an aspect I appreciated. Overall, it was a great night of delicious seafood.
Set on outside table facing the Story Bridge and the river at sunset I thought the food is going to need to be pretty damn good to compete with the view. And it did. Started the dinner with Sashimi and oysters for entree and matched with a bottle of Pino Grigio which was a good combination. For main I had Spanish chili mackerel which was fresh and well balanced dish. Those of you looking for an affordable meal I suggest you dine elsewhere as it is good food but at a premium price. If I criticize one thing, they need to improve their wine selections, perhaps hire a consultant sommelier to give them tips on matching wines as it can improve the dining experience drastically. The restaurant is Pollo-pescitarian friendly, their menu was mostly seafood.
Location, location, location! Such a gorgeous spot for a fine dining seafood meal. I have never had a disappointing experience here, but I do note it is upmarket food with an associated price to match. I'm not sure if the menu has changed more recently but previously you would select your fish and a few sides to match. The food is pricily decadent, so save this venue for something or someone special.
Nice seafood restaurant right on the Brisbane River with excellent views of the Story Bridge. Went for the scallop entree which was delicious. Then chose from the 12 fresh fish options they offer daily. Picked the Red Emperor which was soda battered with a ginger vinegerette. Fish was cooked perfectly and the batter not too heavy. Service was a little slow - had to wait a while between courses despite not being too busy on a Wednesday evening. A good choice for decent seafood in the city.
Situated along the riverfront, it offers a nice view throughout dinner. They are mainly a seafood restaurant and they do it well!! The staff are knowledgeable and my waitress suggested a wine that complimented my dishes very well. I have since bought that wine to enjoy at home.
We enjoyed our dinner at Jellyfish restaurant and would highly recommend the food, service, and location.
It has a menu which showcases all different types of fish and seafood with options to mix and match how you would like it prepared, which sauce to pair it with and which sides.
We dined on a Monday night. I enjoyed the barramundi baked with a soy sauce and we opted for the coconut rice and chinese broccoli as sides.
There is a lovely view of the river and the atmosphere has a fine dining feel to it. Would recommend and would return
Nice setting overlooking the river at night and with friendly wait staff. All four of our meals were delicious but a bit pricey. I do agree with a previous comment about the decor being a bit tacky. They need to spend some money decorating the place.
Great food, one of my partner's favourite restaurants. He loves the whole Barra Thai style. We did not have a booking for dinner and it was Mothers Day... We had a 15min wait. The food was beautiful.
We came here for dinner, probably two years since the last visit. The seafood was as good as ever & the view over the river is excellent. Can be a little cold at this time of year, but great all the same.
Amazing service from all staff, the restaurant was extremely busy, however didn't feel like we had to wait for our meals at all. The good was delicious, if I could have for more in I would have eaten more. Rare eye fillet cooked to perfection. Can't wait to fine there again.
We came here for our 3 year anniversary. We received complimentary fish croquet which was lovely. I had grilled salmon and creamy mash. My boyfriend had a two fish combo soup which he said was heaven. I won't forget the freshly baked bread with feta we had as a starter! Great service and perfect flavour combinations. We will be back when we're feeling fancy. ;)
Nice whole fish. Went last year and had a whole fish with coconut and coriander and lime - was fantastic
menu is generally pricey. I was with several people and most of the dishes looked average compared to mine.
Enjoyed lunch here on business. Service stood out - thoroughly professional but genuine, warm and friendly. Staff knew the menu well. Bar staff knowledgeable about wines. I had swordfish. Perfectly cooked. Mango salsa complemented beautifully with just the right amount of chilli bite. Wonderful experience.
Went for lunch on Saturday and loved it. Every dish had so many flavours which worked together starting with the sashim entree and moving onto the oven cooked Barra / grilled wahoo with roasted corn and cherry tomato sides. We finished with the choc meringue & was topped with great service - We'll be back
Best dinning experience in Brisbane. Having just moved here from London I'm seeking out the best Brisbane has to offer in restaurants. Jelly Fish is the best dinning experience to date. Really great food and staff who really know their stuff and can advise on the menu. That coupled with the view, if you're looking for a treat, I'd recommend.
Have tried 30+ restaurants in Brisbane and this is one of our top 3. Soft shell crab was yum and creme brûlée dessert was perfect. The fish and dressings were very tasty. Prices are reasonable. Service was good
Good company excellent food with amazing views.
Great Food - Poor Service. We have been to Jellyfish many times in the years that it has been open and have never been disappointed with the food. Last nights dinner was delicious and the dessert was excellent, however we have noticed that the service has definitely gone downhill since it opened. We always received excellent service when it first opened but the last few times we have been there the service has been very poor. It feels like they only attend to the large groups of people and totally forget that there are couples dining there. I felt invisible at times last night and we had to wait so long for someone to bring us the bill. Pick up the service please as your food and ambience is worth going back for.
My experience overall was fantastic only because we got a very nice waiter. It was our anniversary so my partner did not hold back, we had the lobster AND a whole crab. We were by the river with the Story Bridge behind us so not much could go wrong.
Our desserts were amazing and plentiful! Personally I didn't like the sauce that went with the lobster cuz I don't think it compliments the sweet succulent lobster flavour but it was still good and a decent feed for one (my partner ate half). The thing that was most disappointing was my Singaporean Crab from the specials menu. Firstly, it did not taste like Singaporean crab, secondly, where's the meat? My crab was huge, the shell of it anyways. Any crab lover would know that crabs have to be eaten fresh because if you leave it too long, the meat dissintegrates as the crab gets thinner. This changes the flavour from sweet to salty and also makes it quite soggy. I didn't get very much meat from my crab. I was also astounded to find my partner had paid $80 for this crab!! I didn't say anything at the time because I didn't want to ruin our celebration. But it did leave me a little disappointed.
Sashimi: 9/10
Salt & Pepper calamari: 8/10
Lobster: 6/10
Crab:2/10
Service: 8/10
Venue: 8/10
Top 5 in Brisbane. My wife and I enjoyed a romantic Sunday night dinner at jellyfish last night, the service was very efficient and the food was top quality but for a restaurant to claim to be the best restaurant in Brisbane for 2013 I was disappointed that we didn't receive any breads before our entrée and even with a great view the tables and chairs where a crapy outdoor setting.
For the price I expected a nicer experience. Bacchus is still number one in my book by far.
Consistently excellent!. Love coming here for special occasions, the fish is fresh & the menu creative. The staff are efficient, knowledgable and friendly. I had the sashimi entree, Trevalla fish for my main with peas & roast jalapeño peppers as sides, finished off with the pana cotta (to die for!). Extensive wine list with some interesting choices and lastly the best view in Brisbane. Highly recommend, we're never disappointed!
Beautiful location, with a great fish menu. My wife & I really enjoyed our meal and the service was excellent. Recommended.
Beautiful experience. Jellyfish is my very favourite restaurant - I believe it has it all. Yes the outlook is fantastic, the service always good, but the food is so clean, fresh and lite - not many places that we eat out at make you feel like your are truly eating healthy delicious fresh foods that are doing you good.
Great staff. We came for a special family occasion and it really must be noted that the staff here are excellent - very attentive, not forgetful; the managers in particular are wonderful. We all agreed the food was lovely (trying to please an Asian family in an expensive western restaurant is never, ever an easy task) - generally the fish was cooked well overall (not overdone or dry), and our entrees were delicious. Pannacotta is a must for dessert.
Loved my dinner here last night! I had the kingfish with the peas and fried potatoes and I couldn't fault it. Everyone else round the table loved theirs too! The chilli chocolate brûlée was also fabulous! I already can't wait to go back!
Oh my lord!!!. Easily one of the best seafood joints I've ever been too. Ok, the prices are up there and the seating was a lil squishy and close to my neighbour but OH SO WORTH IT. Mouthgasm.....
Very unique and a great unique, love having such a specific choice in fish, fantastic well knowledges service. Expensive but you get what you pay for.
Fabulous!. We went to this restaurant a couple of years ago and then last week and still so impressive. The fish is so fresh, service is friendly, helpful and so attentive. The views are wonderful. All good, except one downfall, the lady on the front desk was hopeless! She made us wait for what seemed to be an eternity before looking up to say "I will be right with you", then took us to a table for four in the middle of the restaurant (there was two of us) , lots of spare tables for two, which were not reserved. We at least managed a great window seat...no thanks to her.
Amazing restaurant. Fresh, perfectly cooked fish every time. Beautiful desserts and sides. Wonderful location on the river and *usually* great service. One of my favourite restaurants in Brisbane. Pricey, but you get what you pay for!
Loved it. Way more pricy than I wanted to spend, but was worth it.
Nice Fish. We had the whole barramundi cooked two way. I am mostly impressed by the quantity and the freshness of the fish. It was really tasty and well worth the visit.
Go Fish. We went to Jellyfish on a recent trip to Brisbane and quite enjoyed it.
This is a fish restaurant so dont come here expecting foam and Heston to jump out of the Kitchen.
Sure the menu is reasonably straght forward and its not cheap but its in a great location and we found the staff to be quite attentive. The Maître D on the day was an older gentleman with just the right amount of cheek and cheer. We asked for a wine recommendation and recieved a very reasonably priced white which he had the wait staff retrieve from a sister restaurant up the road.
The fish was well cooked and there was a good selection based on predominately local seafood. Good business location or if you just like a nice backdrop.
Best restaurant in Brisbane. I've been to a few restaurants around Brisbane that bill themselves as proper, high-end, fine-dining establishments and have found they all fall short. Certainly none of them remotely justify their exorbitant prices. None except Jellyfish, that is.
I've been back to Jellyfish now probably half a dozen times over the last 3 years and have never once been disappointed. Every time the service has been faultless, the wait-staff know the menu and always show genuine enthusiasm for making each occasion a true gastronomoical experience.
The food, needless to say, is astonishing. I've taken two people there who absolutely detest seafood and had them come away converted. One of these people was my sister, who we took there for her going-away as she was due to leave for a job in another country the following day. Everything about the meal was excellent but the dessert, which came out with a flourish and "Bon Voyage" piped onto the plate in chocolate, was a stand-out.
Not one of us at the table had to prompt anyone to do anything like that, the wait-staff just must have overheard our conversation and told the kitchen. It's this kind of effort to make sure the night is special and not just another expensive dinner out that makes me more than happy to pay a premium for what is consistently a premium experience.
Expensive. Very experience. Food unfortunately was crap. Didn't have a good wine selection. Service was poor. The lady on maitr'd was rude too. Not worth your time.
Impressed. First restaurant I've been to in Brisbane, ordered the market fish which was devine! The view was gorgeous and even though the restaurant is busy, the service was quick.
My new favourite brisbane restaurant, will be back who wants to join me ?
After seeing head chef Rhett on Masterchef, we decided to dine at Jellyfish for the very first time. The service was impeccable & the food was absolutely delicious. We shall return for more :-),
Amazing place!. Great views, amazing food, outstanding service, but slightly dodgy toilets!
i got taken here Friday night and was surprised at the level of service we were provided with. our waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable and made deciding on what to get easy. the fish was fresh and cooked deliciously and our sides were nice, light (we got the cold sides) and great value for money. definitely try the curried watermelon -the combination works!
call me weird, but if i'm gna go to a fancy restaurant i NEED to check out the 'facilities'... no fancy Aesop soap or thick paper towels.............. (is there an Urbanspoon for restaurant toilets?)
food and service 10/10.
toilets... ugh
First time at Jellyfish on Friday evening. Fantastic spot, excellent seafood, and the service was fast for us. Will be back.
Seafood that never lets you down. My most recent visit to Jellyfish was fantastic as usual. I tried the yellowfin for the first time, and was very satisfied. Jellyfish continues to be a must take for visitors and business clients. I do wish they would change the sides up a but. Also the chef's Complimentary dish needs to change a bit...
Delightful food fresh and very filling, service was terrific very helpful and quick. This place is defiantly one of the best restaurants in brisbane
Came here on a Sunday evening with my wife and had an amazing time. We didn't have a booking but the host gave us a great table out on the water. The waiter (think his name was ben) suggested a great wine and recommended we try the big barra for our first time at jellyfish. It was beautifully presented and delicious. Will happily recommend jellyfish to anyone who asks for a great restaurant in Brisbane
Came here on a late Friday evening and got seated straight away. I had the pasta with mixed seafood whilst my companion had a whole fish. Food was good, I'd like to go back to try something else. Drinks came out promptly but had to ask three different waiters for water which only came out between mains/desserts. Our waiter was chatty which was good and that made the evening more enjoyable. Other waiters a bit so-so but will return again, maybe with a booking this time!
Absolutely excellent. First time eating at Jellyfish. Waitress knew her menu inside-out ( Jo or Jack) , food was incredible. Not cheap, but not too expensive either.
Thank you Jellyfish for a fantastic evening on our anniversary. Well done!
Great Food. The food was great, the view was fantastic and the service was average.
The sashimi/sushi starter was fresh and I enjoyed it. The fish was delicious and the dessert was to die for! My wife rated the dessert as one of the best she has had in Brisbane!
I would recommend it without hesitation.
High quality. Been to Jellyfish three times and can't fault it. Pieces of fresh fish seem to be the way to go. Good service, great views, good wine selection.
Sensational. Every time I visit Jellyfish I have a ball. Great food, great atmosphere, great service. Cant speak highly enough of this restaurant.
Birthday dinner. I dined here recently for my birthday. Overall the experience was pretty good, thought the entrees were pretty average though. Great service however. Wouldn't be back too soon though.
Gorgeous views of city, fresh seafood, lots of choices on menu. Have been many times. Love it. Service is great, food, wine all fantastic
Jellyfish would have to be one of the best restaurants in Brisbane. A favorite for my wife and I who have dined there for special occasions. We have taken our young children there also and have always found the staff amazing. The food is consistently superb, but the service equally matches same to make it a delightful experience. Worth every cent.
Food was amazing.. Superb, money well spent on good quality food and service.
Yum. All I have to say is ill be back.
Fantastic food, fantastic service, perfect spot!. We had the most amazing dinner here, it was a few months ago now (when it was still warm in the evenings), but really wanted to say thank you! Thank you to all the staff , it is so wonderful to see that 'Real' service is still alive and well in Brisbane! We were with a large group and everyone felt the same.
I had the duck and it was not really edible, others at our table had it and theirs was fine. For some reason it absolutely did not matter, everything else made up for this and the staff truly did everything that they should and then some to compensate for this dish. Our entree and dessert were divine.
All in all, fantastic experience in one of the best river locations in Brisbane!
Will be back again.
I've been here twice now and though it's a bit pricey the service alone is worth every cent. I'm not a huge seafood fan normally but everything they make is prepared with care & precision cooked to perfection. Absolutely delicious with innovative preparation techniques. The waiters re highly professional, friendly, attentive and knowledgable, by far a fantastic dining experience. The fish is all fresh daily and for someone who has worked behind the scenes in hospitality I can truly appreciate and respect all they have to offer
Lovely meal, great service. Had a great experience here, the food was lovely...simple and delicious. And the service from our waitress was the best we have ever had. She was very knowledgeable with regards to the menu and gave us a great wine recommendation - not knowing much about wines we went with her suggestion and it was great.
A wide selection and well priced for their meals. Very romantic if you sit by the balcony looking out to the river. Had a great evening with delicious food and great service. A must try!!!
Love Love Love this restaurant all I can say is do your taste buds a favor and go .. From food wine and service superb
Lovely setting. Very expensive. I had the avocado and prawn as an entree- absolutely fell in love with it. Was disappointed to see they took it off the menu. Haven't been back since.food is enjoyable however our bowl of chips were burnt. Great service.
Huge improvement. We ate here for the first time since just after it opened because we heard there had been some changes.
Food was really good, portion sizes generous and the new manager a breath of fresh air.
Great work all round jellyfish
loved it! Will be back much more often now!!
Exquisite Experience!. It was our first time at the JellyFish we didnt have a booking but we had amazing table at the front outside on a saturday night, when we recieved the menu i think the waiter new it was our first time so he helped us choose what to have! The waiter Richard was the best and funniest waiter i have ever come across in brisbane he meets the service as he was from Paris! We ordered a big fish with potatos on the side OMG amazing! and my partner we loved it so much! we even ordered desert and we never do that! we said will try the marshmallow one but Richard said aww ok and then we ask what should be have then he told us the Bruele so we did and he was right! it was out of this world! YUM! so we thank you Richard our waiter for making our experience amazing and delightful. we had a fantastic time and i will be recommending Jellyfish to everyone!
By the river, say no more!. Perfect spot on the river! Especially coming into warmer weather, so nice sitting dining al fresco enjoying some delish food and a bottle of red!
Really really good. Had dinner here on the weekend after previously have lunch (pre-flood). It was fabulous from start to finish. The bread was wonderful, the fish was all superb, and I loved all the sides. Particularly, the tomato & mozarella, the peas with feta and mint, and the gnocci. My NZ turbot was lovely. The lemon and shallot? sauce was possibly the best sauce I have ever had, EVER - I want the recipe!!
Seriously worth a visit!
Simple, delicious fish. Just had dinner at Jellyfish and it was a wonderful experience. Lovely attentive service without being intrusive. We ordered the oysters to share for entrees which were fresh and beautifully prepared. I had the soda battered snapper with ginger sauce while Mr A had the steak (he had fish there earlier in the week). Both dishes were impeccable! We shared sides of shoestring fries and green papaya salad (which went perfectly with the fish/ginger sauce). The highlight of the evening was Mr A's flaming duck egg creme brulee which was very impressive if not a bit showy (creme brulee may have been on the runny side but was still delicious). All in all, it was a delightful evening, good food, fantastic service, brilliant views and my glass was never empty... We will definitely be back!
Ritzy Fish... and Chips. Having heard many a good review about Jellyfish and its place as one of Brisbane's premier power lunch venues, I'd thought I'd see what the fuss is all about.
T and I went here for my birthday dinner on Wednesday night, which was lucky considering it was pouring down with rain the night prior. We turned up early (7pm for a 7.30pm reservation) and were promptly seated at a small table which was a little longer than you might expect (handy for share plates as we found out). Extensive wine list but a "boutique" selection of wines by the glass, symptomatic of the power lunch patrons who order by the bottle.
For entrees I ordered the tempura soft shell mud crab ($26) whilst T couldn't look past the fresh Coffin Bay oysters ($29). The crab was brilliant - crisp tempura, sizeable, moist and sweet crab and the mild and creamy wasabi mayonnaise was the perfect complement. The Coffin Bay oysters (almost 12)? The best he's had apart from the ones he used to shuck off marker buoys in the Bay of Islands (NZ) as a boy.
From their fish menu, T ordered the snapper in a soda batter served with a ginger vinaigrette, intrigued by mako shark (I think $28?) I decided to take a punt on the humble "flake" which was served with a parmesan crumb and aioli. For sides we ordered the shoe string fries ($8.50) and salad of rocket, parmesan and almonds dressed with a rhubarb vinegar ($8.50).
The many pieces of snapper had a light crisp batter and the sweetness of the fish shone through. Perfect.
The mako was served as two pieces with a ramekin of aioli, it was cooked perfectly (moist and flakey) but it lacked flavour, even the parmesan crumb couldn't save it. Disappointed, but I blame my choice when there was kingfish, cobia etc on the menu as well.
For desserts, we shared the whiskey crème brulee, latte ice cream and biscotti ($17)… it was sensational, the crème brulee was presented with a blue flame which was slowly burning off the whiskey and caramelising a crust on the brulee. The whiskey added an interesting depth and sharpness of flavour which was offset by the sweet and creamy brulee. The latte ice cream was also excellent with a similar experience - sweet and creamy ice cream and bitter coffee - lovely.
The service and time between meals on the night was prompt enough with regard to the how busy it was on the night - most tables were taken with group bookings that night.
Jellyfish does pride itself on preparing fresh, top quality seafood simply, relying heavily on the cut and grade to shine. It has a buzzy atmosphere which good for sharing lunch and dinner with groups of more than four people. I've had less aspiring seafood for the same cost at Brisbane's bayside shacks, so top marks. I will have to agree with some of the reviewers when they say it is glammed up fish and chips but that really depends on what you order.
Went here again in late November 2011 for a corporate lunch, top marks again guys!
Good. Food good, not innovative nor are the flavours but the service was attentive and the view lovely.
GREAT FISH - a bit basic like cha cha char but fish - ie. here is our fish choose how you want it cooked or take our recommendation. But very good & also some lovely entrees and other no fish options. A really good meal.
Great Experience will be back... The service was excellent and the meals were spectacular! No problems in recommending this to friends and will be back myself..
Had lunch there a few times and always fantastic. Service spot on, menu interesting and great food. Can't wait to go back post 2011 floods.
The BEST meal I've ever had. This is EASILY the best meal I've ever had in a very very long time, and I go out to eat a lot.
From the beginning the service was amazing, Richard (I think, the best waiter I've ever had) was funny, charming, and knowledgable. Even though his area was so busy he always took the time to come back to us and check up on how we were doing and chat to us about things that weren't related to our meal, which I did appreciate.
Highly recommend going all out here: entree, drinks, mains and sides, and dessert because everything is amazing.
I would love to come back here one day and I'm so glad it's reopened again after the Brisbane floods.
Very good. Am glad I ignored the Urban Spoon rating of Jellyfish and went with friend's recommendations.
Lovely spot, not cheap to be sure, but very nice food, good ambience and good service.
Food and service was great...loved the fresh fish and cooked to perfection...great location and views looking out towards bridge ... would like to eat here again
AMAZING - The ONLY place to eat in Brisbane. This place is like heaven on earth - amazing staff (especially Richard - Best waiter there), service and the "Whole Baby Barramundi" is to die for. The sides compliment the mains (paris mash, shoe string fries, beans, and the tomato salads). Reservations mid week are very easy to get, however you need to book a week in advance for a weekend reservation.
Loved it! Had dinner there last night with my wife and our 3 month old son (he didn't eat much). To be honest I was expecting dirty looks from the staff for bringing this potential screamer, but instead we were greeted with not only a classy and proffessional welcolme, but also a genuine warmness that seen every waiter come over to have a play and a chat with my son. When the food came out it was as nice if not better than the service. I had the crab for entree & steak for main (both cooked to perfection). The wife had the snapper, which they done in a gluten free batter for her and again done beautifully. Great night overall and the wee man didn't cry once.
Loved it!. While visiting Brisbane. I had the pleasure of having dinner at Jellyfish. I loved my meal.
I had bugs, udon soup, barramundi, vine tomato & avacado balsamic olive oil and roasted potatoes.
It was amazing food and great service. As a single lady eating alone I did not feel neglected one bit.
Fantastic meal there last Friday. I'm not a big fish person so I chickened out and had the steak, and it was superb. Got lots of envious looks from the mate who ordered veal as his was a bit miniature... Hubby had whole barra, he loved it, despite the work involved in eating it. Great service from our first waiter, but when he left it went downhill slightly, maybe cos we'd finished our mains we didn't merit any more attention... Will def return!
My wife went to jellyfish last night on a girls night out, she reported that when you go to jellyfish don't expect a tummy filler meal but you can expect a taste sensation, the meals are beautifully presented the location on the waterfront is beautiful and the atmosphere was fantastic. The girls thought it was a bit pricey but the meals were just devine. Worth a vist at least once.
The food we selected at Jellyfish ranged from average to extraordinary. There is novelty value in selecting the type of fish you'd like, the way it's cooked, and the type of sauce (condiment, really) in a mix-and-match fashion. Everything was very fresh, but I was a little disappointed with our mains, flavours were dull and really it was just glorified fish and chips (without the chips, which can be ordered as a side). The entrees, however, were outstanding. Full flavours, bold combinations and generous serves. I would strongly recommend ordering a number of entrees, to share, and skipping the mains altogether. One final note - Jellyfish is an expensive restaurant and while the service is good, it's not as attentive as it should be. Also, with a lovely fitout and views, the plasma screens on the walls (showing underwater scenes, tropical fish etc) are incongruous, distracting and just a little bit bogan.
Specifically came back for the bugs special and pavlova desert. But disappointed. Pav removed from menu because "they got tired of making it" and after being entised and ordering special, then told they had run out!
Christmas lunch at jellyfish was fantastic. Only a selection of the normal menu was on offer but everything was great. I had the kingfish, queenfish combo and could not fault it. The story bridge and Brisbane river make the ideal setting for you next outing. This was not my fist jellyfish experience and it won't be my last.
Sensational service and extensive fish/seafood menu. I had an entree of Tempura mud crab, on a wasabi sauce. It was an amazing, delicious dish. Jellyfish is pricey, but worth it.
This restaurant is owned by John Kilroy who owns Cha Cha Char in Brisbane and Char in Darwin. Jellyfish has fantastic seafood with an enticing menu, is pricey but the food can not be beaten. Food and Service is top class and the atmosphere is great on the boardwalk on the Brisbane River. Your fish can be cooked in 8 different styles. Treat yourself you won't regret it.
Inside the belly of the beast, its transparent glowing body shone through the sparkling ebony waters outside. This creature of reference is none other than Rhett Willis’s Jellyfish. Complimentary from the Chef we had Twice Cooked Potato Chips graced by Aoli droplets. A delicately crisp outer with warm soft potato inside with a creamy tang from the aoli, started the night wonderfully. Next, the entree of Tiger Prawns and Avocado Tian with Crab and Celery Remoulade. The tender prawns crowned the dish with a creamy underbelly of avocado, beautifully soft crab and celery. A kick of lemon and fresh microherbs on the side added more freshness. Combination of Chilli Roasted Spanish Mackeral Kaffir Lime Mayonnaise and Parmesan Crusted Bream with Aioli. Fish done two ways with a twist on the classic sauces. Grilled Swordfish with Smoked Tomato Emulsion. Main of Kingfish, Watermelon, Mint, Cashews and Chilli Jam. A crispy skinned steak of kingfish was accompani
The plate was packed with expertly cooked squid and baby octopus pieces, with wedges of lemon and chilli to give it some heat and acidity. Most importantly the dish came with some delicious and well cooked chorizo that did not detract from the subtle flavours of the squid. The plate was well balanced with plenty of sweet, sour and heat coming from the dish............I decided that the Valrhona chocolate fondant, double cream and raspberries was the only way to go. I was not disappointed, this dessert was spectacular.
I reeeeeeaaaally enjoyed the dining experience at Jellyfish. Wouldn't mind going there again (*nudge nudge*).
There is an impressive variety of fish to choose from and Jellyfish recommends certain cooking methods and accompaniments.
The scallops are lovely and the boconcini with tomato and pesto was nice, fresh, and a great pesto. Lovely sea food restaurant in Brisbane...

+4.5
In my experience - diahorrea and Fine Dining Restaurants don't usually go together... well, you hope not anyway. So thats why I was so surprised to see it on a menu... I have been a long time fan of John Kilroy's Cha Cha Char - coming from a country backg
Standing along the Brisbane river on a brisk night I drank in the sight of the Story Bridge lit up on my left and the Kangaroo Point cliffs reflecting off the water to my right. But the Jellyfish Restaurant sat behind me and like a siren drew me closer, c
