Review The Burrow - Brisbane

Victoire
Hands down one of the most chill places to have a drink with mates on a Friday/Saturday night. Live music is such a vibe and great musicians! The atmosphere is great, although filled with interesting dolls, still a great venue for a night out! Food is quite good with adequate prices and also friendly staff. Overall, great restaurant with aesthetics decorations, super friendly staff and delicious food. Would definitely come back and recommend for a night out with mates!

First time visitors to The Burrow. We chose this place as a friend mentioned it was good. That friend was right. An alternative cafe with an easy to follow menu, friendly staff, relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. Being that it was a Sunday morning breakfast. We were surprisingly impressed with attentive staff that didn’t look hung over or didn’t want to be there. The food was also well presented and freshly made. Pancakes we’re perfect! We’d visit again. Highly recommend. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A funky restaurant in a Queenslander, there is plenty of seating upstairs and downstairs. There was live music when we went on a Saturday evening. The pizzas were absolutely loaded, would definitely recommend getting some cutlery! They were fresh and tasty, the fries were also well cooked. Great place for a catch up on a warm summer evening!

The Burrow was so amazing that we went there twice in the space of 3 days!!! Service was absolutely lovely and the interiors were beautiful. Not to mention the food was also spectacular. Plus the William Shakes-Pear is now my favourite cocktail EVER!!! Definitely will come again next time I’m in Brissy!

What a great funky, bohemian cafe. I had a cafe in Byron for years similar in feel to this one. Place is furnished in an eclectic style with colours and things of interest all over the place. They have up stairs and downstairs. I noticed a small stage at entrance and would love to be here with someone playing. The staff were fantastic! Very friendly, relaxed and chatty. Just the way it should be. Coffee was good. I will be back real soon.

Catered super well towards the dietary needs we had :) we ordered two pizzas and they were absolutely lovely; our drinks too. However, a few staff members were quite unwelcoming and intimidating. But, we will be back soon :)

What a gem! I love the boho vibe here. After a visit for coffee recently I was so impressed with the fantastic service and excellent coffee that I returned with a friend to try the food. What a treat - we both loved our meals. I had the Levantine which is a plentiful salad with loads of haloumi piled on top and of a tasty warm flatbread, while my friend had a pizza that he said was perfectly crispy and delicious.

Absolutely my favourite place in Brisbane. Love the chilled vibe, music, food and friendly people who work there. The garlic pizza was great with pinot grigio we had. Will def visit again.
Jeremy
Love this place! A true slice of the original West End, definitely get some spicy slicey pizza, or perfect coffee all day, highly recommend!
Robbie Lynch
Damn good pizzas! Thanks for staying open for takeaways in tough times!
Hills Veggie
Great ambience, good food. Loved that there were 2 sizes of pizza, which were hot and delicious. Vegetarians well catered for & salad was fresh with good dressing. Good to hear live music on a Monday night.

Big fan of the Burrow. Have been for both breakfast and dinner here. The "screen door" is one of my favourite meals.<br/><br/>The burrow also has some good craft beer options, good music and friendly staff and service.

I absolutely loved this place! Such a cool restaurant with really friendly staff and delicious food. You can tell that The Burrow has a real sense of originality by its atmosphere but also how they make everything on their menu in house like the dips and the burger patties.<br/>It was really hard for me to choose only two things from the menu because all their vegan options looked so yummy!<br/>The pizza that I had was gone too quickly because it was just too good, crispy crust and flavourful topping, should of ordered a bigger one!<br/>The dips that we ordered tasted very flavourful and you could tell that the chefs takepride in what they make and how they make things. Will definitely be ordering some of these dips for my birthday!<br/>Overall this place has got to be one of my go to restaurants in Brisbane now that I have tried only a fraction of their amazing vegan food options. I went during lunch time so I look forward to go there for dinner and seeing the place buzzing!
Lavinvin
The food is really delicious and totally surprised us . The fries is crispy outside and the texture of the pizza base is really crispy as well. Just the beef of the burger is a bit smaller. I am a person who would seldom go back to have same restaurant again but i would go back to The Burrow for definitely.

This place is excellent. While I loved their old venue, this one is also fun. It was a bit bizarre at first as I had friends who lived in that house many moons ago but now it’s one of my favourite spots for lunch. <br/><br/>Love that there are heaps of vegan options and add ons- You can swap regular cheese for vegan etc. The beetroot pizza is epic and such bang for buck. So are the nachos- I’ve had both the vegan and normal nachos.. I love sour cream a lot so the normal win for me-

Completely agree with the reviewer who said this place feels like a student sharehouse/op shop/café.<br/>However, once you get over the fact that I'm definitely not cool enough to eat here, the food is delicious. One of the only places in Brisbane that you can get poutine. And that, my friends, is why I've been back three times.

Wanted to treat my friend out for dinner on her birthday and she picked the burrow as the dine in spot! It’s a vibrant place with chalk art, craft beers and creative pizzas. <br/>The staff was very friendly and check on us a few times, great vibe and an enjoyed an wonderful night out with good food and plenty of D&Ms!
Always Hungry
This place kind of feels like a student share house mixed with an opp shop and café. Could have walked by and missed it if I wasn't looking for it.<br/>I got a veggie burger with sweet potato chips and the boyf got something with meat.<br/>We both liked the food, the staff were friendly and the atmosphere was nice and chill, the only let down was the coffee we had afterwards.<br/>All in all a nice lunch though.

Superb iced long black and perfect places to curl up with a book. I highly recommend seating out back downstairs in the garden. Also the screen door breakfast is just indulgent!
Sards Foodie Reviews
Having already eaten at a nearby restaurant (Govindas - see my review ) we were in search a cosy quiet place to have a nice hot drink on a pretty cold night, and we discovered this little Gem of a spot. NB : My review is for hot drinks and service NOT food. The Service was friendly and welcoming , my friends drinks were hot and delicious and my soy chai Latte was one of the best I had ever had !! <br/>The young lady behind the bar was happy to share who and where it came from and I am happy to find out it is very local !! We shall be back for food. Thanks SARDS.

Great outlet it's busy and noisy. The owners are interesting people who understand hospitality. Combining the craft beers and great pizzas is a no brainer but many fail. Great vibe and an interesting night out. Taxi or uber home.

A very casual cafe. I only had coffee and a smoothie but the coffee was excellent and the smoothie was also very delicious. I am looking forward to going back another time to try the pizza:)

This place has it's own charm! The pizza is excellent and so is the beer selection! there is always a good IPA on tap and the staff is extremely nice.
David Brown
This was a great venue for a breakfast meal, I loved it. Coffee was good, service friendly and up beat. Servings generous and cost reasonable. Ambiance soothing. <br/>

I've been here quite a few times and overall they have decent food but questionable service where I've had quite a few mistakes on my orders. Although one time they accidentally gave me four poached eggs instead of two, so that was alright. Their pizzas are interesting but not awesome. I'd also say everything is overpriced here, but they always seem to be pretty busy.
Typicalveganwhitegirl
Food was delicious with a great range of vegan and non vegan options. Drinks were really well priced and the atmosphere is relaxed and vibey. The art on the walls is awesome to look at - perfect place for a first date if you think you’ll need talking points.....

I came here for lunch w a friend on Sunday. The cashier was overly casual and slow to enter the order into the till. I ordered the special pizza which was delicious with lots of toppings and reasonably priced at $12. This place is pretty reliable with lots of good items to pick.
Canuck In Oz
A busy spot with a good vibe. The food is OK but nothing that's makes a $19 chicken burger (sans chips) worth returning for. Add $13 for a pint and this could get expensive in a hurry. I'm not sure why their rating is so high on Zomato
Jenny P
Good but could have been better..enjoyed the food but felt we were shoved in the doggies corner (literally) after booking weeks ahead and then they forgot a separate booking. Had my son's 18th last night and i booked a table of 10 for my sons gathering and a table for 2 (for myself and his dad). The tables were 3 separate tables, we envisaged having a 'whole' table for the 18th. The table for 2 they'd totally forgotten about eventhough I rang to confirm the day before. The food lovely! Very impressed with pizzas and wings. Drove 3 hours to bring my son to Brisbane to celebrate with his friends, probably not the best choice.
Rebecca
Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner on the weekends the breakfast menu was particularly appealing to me. I had the fried chicken, fried egg, fried potato and coleslaw dish which is particularly perfect as I'm not a fan of toast. Unfortunately I didn't get to try the coffee
Danelle Lim Yun
We ordered lots of pizzas and they were all great! We had to Fire Walk, Beef and Blue and Chilli chicken. The ambience and service was great too! I'd definitely come back again.
JT Esse
Delicious. Inventive, creative menu options made it so hard to choose! Fantastic quality food. Coffee was a bit of a letdown and service slightly slow
Katie Norbury
The food was really enjoyable, great drinks available and okay service. I think the experience would be improved if it wasn't counter service. We had a large booking which made the ordering process difficult.
Joshua Groat
Menu was easy to understand. Prices were more than reasonable. Drinks were excellent. Food was wonderful. Staff were very friendly and welcoming.
GCfoodie
Consistently one of the best brekkys in Brisbane. Amazing vibe that's great for a weekend recovery sesh with unique local craft beers on tap. This last time I got a 'Golden Stout Time' beer and it was just as tasty as the ice block! I forget the names of the dishes but if you're unsure of what to order you can't go wrong with the beef and apple dish or the fried chicken and bacon. Go hungry though as the serves are large!
Brisfoodiefangirl
The menu here is so different but definitely a nice change from time to time. The service is really good as well, personally I would have liked to be able to order something more simple (more fresh like muesli or something) but definitely enjoyed the meal and service!
Meatballs And Beef Cheeks
I've been to The Burrow a half dozen times when they were on Mollison Street - pretty much whenever the line at Gunshop was too long. They served a good breakfast and we always left with smiles on our faces.<br/><br/>Decided it was time to revisit them at their Russell Street location. <br/><br/>Gone is the 'Blue Pill' and the pancakes served with ice cream and rainbow sprinkles...Unfortunately, they've also gone from being well above average to an average breakfast spot.<br/><br/>We ordered the Lumberjack Breakfast, Poached Eggs on Toast with Bacon, an Iced Latte and Babyccino.<br/><br/>Good Iced Latte (3.5) and Babyccino (3.5).<br/><br/>The eggs were cooked just right, the pancakes were good (but tiny) and the toast was good. The bacon was not very good (certainly nowhere near as good as it used to be), nor was the maple sausage. The beans were surprisingly good, with some nice spices, but the hash browns were over cooked and disappointing. Both meals rate a 3.<br/><br/>Friendly staff and air conditioning available downstairs, but the service was quite slow and we waited over 25 minutes for food despite being one of the first customers.<br/><br/>Won't be in any hurry to return.<br/><br/>*******<br/>January 12, 2016<br/><br/>The Burrow serves up a nice breakfast in the West End.  When the line is too long at Gunshop, we happily tromp over to The Burrow for pancakes.  My wife likes the 'Blue Pill' and my daughter loves the fact that they serve pancakes with ice cream and rainbow sprinkles.  The eggs with Turkish toast work for me.  Above average bacon!

We came here for breakfast as Cafe Wrapture was closed and it's not somewhere I would return with so many breakfast options in Brisbane. Ordered two milkshakes - the vanilla just tasted like icey milk and the chocolate wasn't much better. The breakfasts were okay but nothing to write home about and expensive for what you got. On the plus side the staff were lovely - but in terms of the food and drink they need to lift their game.

I used to love this place and would come here at least once every fortnight but since the move I have had a change of heart. The Burrow was a great place with delicious and cheap food with good service but since the move things have definitely changed. They’ve taken a lot of good pizzas off the menu, including my favourite vegetarian one, and they’ve upped their prices. They venue is okay but having to go upstairs and order can be annoying especially if you come back to find your table taken or there is someone who is elderly/has trouble getting around in your party. When we went last weekend there were no menus on the table and when I asked for one, I was bought the breakfast menu (it was around 1:00pm). Our table was covered in dirty plates and even though there were staff walking around, no one cleared our table so I ended up doing it myself because it was just attracting masses of flies. The burger I had was good, but not amazing. If you'd asked me what I thought 6-12 months ago I would have said 5/5 but it's definitely a let down as of late, especially the service which used to be great but now it's basically nonexistent, which is really disappointing as this used to be one of my favourite spots for lunch and beers on a Sunday afternoon. I don’t think I’ll be a regular visitor anymore.
Gerard De Reviewer
Had to go and try their tripple burger and it was actually very tasty and plentiful! <br/>Had to compensate with a healthy / earthy freshly squeezed juice, so nice! <br/><br/>I liked the interior and the idea of the menu inserted in children's books. <br/><br/>Will go back.

Have visited twice, once for breakfast and once for lunch. I shared a selection of dishes with friends and highly recommend the lucky peach pizza.<br/>We were surprised by the bill as we over ordered and each had juices and coffees, everything was reasonably priced. Great place to meet up for lunch, relaxed atmosphere.

After hearing so much from others about The Burrow we finally decided to go for dinner. We ordered three pizzas and they were all fantastic. We had a big voodoo daddy, a margarita and a mumma said. There were a generous amount of toppings which we appreciated and the pizza bases were crispy and very tasty. <br/><br/>The service was fantastic as well and super quick - the lady who served us was outstanding and I noticed that all the staff were happy and having a good time which was nice to see. <br/><br/>The actual restaurant itself is cosy and unique and just adds to the atmosphere. Overall it was a fun yet relaxing place to dine. Will definitely be going back - I am keen to try their lunch menu and of course their other pizzas.
Jennifer Vink
Excellent! Had dinner there last night, ordered 3 pizzas and nothing left. What I liked about the pizza was generous topping and crispy base. I'm on diet so I didn't eat all the base but I felt full just to eat the topping!! Super delicious, everyone had a good feed.

This place has a pretty cool rustic feel to it, and has a back area as well which would be perfect for groups and gatherings. Taking us back to the 80s and 90s all their menus are kids school books. Cool eh?! Food here was great and service was attentive. The main con however was we had organised an event in advance yet when we arrived they had no idea about it.
Food Master
For dinner, I ate a margarita pizza. Nothing was wrong. Everything was right. It was soooooo tasty. This is my review because the pizza was so good...

Just off the main strip of boundary st west end is a burrow full of delicious food and coffee. A great little hide away and it's all there... Specialty grade coffee, creative dishes and warm friendly service.<br/>Breakfast - Vego Benny <br/>Drink - chai Tea

I ordered a vegetarian meal here and the chefs inadvertently put two types of meat on the plate (bacon jam and then some ham in the salad). When I went to ask the staff about this they were unhelpful, and didn't offer an apology or offer to make a new meal or anything? I just thought that for the price I wouldn't go back with service like that
Slick Chef Extraordinaire. Gangster Of Food.
I come here purely for the awesome beer and ever changing selection. There is always something new and different to sample. The food isn't too shabby either. Great spot to wind down and chill out after a big week.
Dan Massey
Extremely poor service unfortunately. High hopes and seems to be a nice restaurant however we sat and waited for 35 mins with no service other than water (not even a menu provided). Walked out and was not even acknowledged. Will not visit again.
Supreme Eater
Solid ambience. Prime big brekky (all the thangs) . Good rustic feels. Noice staff. Noice music. Noice Cafe. Strongly recommend. Go there or not, I'm not your supervisor.
James Harrison
Amazing food, had breakfast here and for the price I couldn't fault it. Friendly staff and big portions. Will definitely be back and telling all my friends about it. Just another gem in the West End.
Scott Bradword
Great brunch food, service was quick and staff were friendly. Nice music (not too loud), the Levantine was awesome! Some kind of quinoa salad was also good my partner tells me! Go here!
Matt Gerritsma
Had a take away pizza - the pepper noni. It took about 25 minutes to get my pizza and unfortunately it was a little crunchy and overdone with not a lot of flavour. Price was cheap and maybe I'll try something else if I go here again but there's other places in West End id rather try.
Dan The Man
Sitting on the fringe of the West End cafe cluster, this mischievous hideout is a timber laden burrow of hipsteriffic proportions. Sample a fresh Frankie Valli pizza or the tall stacked Foundation burger with juicy homemade beef patty. Either way your taste buds are in for a titilation worth the walk.
Simply Starving
Went here during the Christmas period and was shocked at how badly prepared the service was. They were incredibly understaffed and while I can understand the service being slower than usual, waiting almost an hour and a half for a cafe meal (with no apology or smile) is not acceptable. The meal was less than average and the staff were rude. You could feel the stress in the room and three or four tables left before their meal arrived because they were completely fed up. I should have done the same.
Kate Parrott
Have been to the burrow many times and I have always had a good experience. On this occasion my husband and I were just looking for a coffee around 3pm. It was a Sunday afternoon and unfortunately most cafes around the west end/south Brisbane area were closing at 3pm. The Burrow however has long trading hours - this suited us. We had a chai latte, a lemon lime and bitters and shared a mango sorbet. Service is efficient, drinks were nice and the atmosphere is relaxed. Only criticism is that we were hoping for some cake and the had run out the day before. Will return - looking forward to their specialty hot chocolates/chai lattes in winter.

Great environment. Really lovely. Ordered a coffee and smoothie. Took some time for our order to be taken. Waitress took order from table next to us and when we called her over, said she could only order from one table at a time. Coffee looked promising, but had a funny taste and texture like they hadn't cleaned the machine properly. Smoothie was yummy.<br/>Menu looked intetesting. I would go back and give it a go.
Carmen
Love this restaurant. Nice staff, lovely environment. To be honest, slow with the food, really good food, though. I will definitely come back.
Theonewhoknocks
I got the poutine and it was terrible. I'm Canadian so I like to think I know a good poutine what I get it.<br/><br/>The chips were flavourless and there was no cheese (at least not from what I could see or taste).<br/><br/>So basically $14 for chips and gravy that you could get at a takeaway. What a rip-off.<br/><br/>Service was fast but, in typical Australian style, after the food arrives, the servers forget about you and don't ask how things are going.<br/><br/>The decor is OK. Typical hipster joint.<br/><br/>Definitely won't be going back.
Sassenach
Love this place, quirky decor and team. Always busy so staff might be a touch brusque, but usually efficient and friendly. Have tried a lot of things and always happy. I've even driven there just for a muffin and coffee.
Christine
This is the second time I have been here and it continues to blow my mind. We were welcomed by the friendly staff and ordered a coffee while we looked at the menu. Our coffees came in a prompt manner. As we went to order our eggs benni (which we knew we were getting before even arriving) we noticed we could get pulled pork with it. It was the best decision I have ever made in my life , bar none. We then also ordered a juice each. Their generous drink size borders on ridiculous but you feel like you have gotten maximum value for money. All up out of the possibly hundreds of Eggs Benedicts we have collectively had across Brisbane this is without a doubt THE BEST. Do yourself a solid and visit the Rusty Burrow.

Best pizza in Brisbane! The menu is constantly changing, along side the beers/ ciders. The atmosphere is cosy and homely and the staff are always helpful. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a chilled out dinner spot for pizza and a beer.
Anita Weiss Leone
Went for a friends birthday. Very busy and squishy seating but really enjoyable atmosphere. Very cool menus hidden in old school story books. Unusal variety of beers and ciders worth trying. The food is very good. Shared a couple of pizzas and sides. Jerk chicken pizza was so tasty if you like a bit of a kick. The poutine (chips with bacon, cheese and peppercorns) so delish! Well priced and good service. Can spilt bills if needed which is a plus when dining as a group!
JD
Amazing Brisbane pizza restaurant with good customer service, incredible drinks list and magical atmosphere.  Fantastic for breakfast too!  An absolute favourite.
Michelle Watkin
Best chips ever! Honestly, their chips are to die for, and the pizza is outstanding as well! Been here multiple times now and will continue to come back. The picture book menus are an adorable and rustic touch. Lovely atmosphere and lovely staff.
Sen-sei
Love this place!!! Brilliant pizza and such friendly/humorous customer service. Huge portions too, sharing one pizza is enough for two people! The Burrow has a quirky feel to it from the moment you step into this old Queenslander. The menus are made from recycled old children's books, the wallpaper is made of comic strips, and the outdoor area has a wall of graffiti. Such a quirky place suited for young, old and everything in between

I was looking a quiet place with Wifi because i had a meeting with Uk through Skype and i didn't had wifi in the Hotel. The waiters where really nice an friendly. He helped me to find a good table with a socket nearby and the waitress stayed there till I finished (so sweet).<br/>The pizza was also delicious! Thanks guys!
Foodie Mia
I have been the burrow twice and really enjoyed both times. The atmosphere is really great and so is the food. Although, I was really upset as the waitress specifically told me she would substitute gluten free bread for a wrap for free, but later went back on her word when I went to pay. Other than that great experience.
Fred Finn
This place was awful! The tacos gave me food poisoning, and tasted horrible. Way overpriced and just bad. I do not recommend it at all. Try one of the other great places around the area.
Fork N Food
Outside, a quirky house that looks like it should be on a Caribbean beach. Went for a lazy Sunday for lunch, greeted by friendly staff who seem genuinely happy to wait on you. Choice of loft, main dining area or lane garden area. Good choices of food and drink for lunch/brunch; gourmet pizza, well balanced burgers, waffles, tacos and poutine! Basically organic, hip cafe type menu. Fresh blended juice was delicious. Not overly expensive for what you get. Do recommend; for lunch/brunch or coffee/casual drinks.
Sara Turnbull
Favourite spot in West End. Beautiful breakfasts, great pizza and genuinely friendly service. Great drinks list, rotating beer list and decent coffee.
MsK
Opposite the three monkeys, this place is open till really late. Dropped in for drinks and pizza late at night and was delighted with our pizza. It was crispy and thin (just how I like it) and the toppings were plentiful. Service was attentive and professional as well. I have yet to come back but I've heard their breakfast menu is good too.
Betty & Jason
I got the Jamaican jerk pizza, it had some punchy spicy flavour that worked great with the slaw on top! The poutine was also delicious and I would come back for it, especially with the blue cheese dressing! Not a fan of the mango (apricot?) pizza but overall good experience. Service was good!
Misscharlot
went there at 12pm on a sunday...thought we could still be able to grab a brunch...but the waitress said the breakfast has stopped and we have to wait till 1230pm to order for the lunch menu....my bad.. didn't check the time before i come. but well that's something you might wanna know next time when you hit Burrow. <br/>so the food was amazing as always. coffee was great and love the balcony seats with breeze blowing in.
Donut.S
I love the decor and vibe of the place. I've celebrated my birthday dinner twice here - last year and this. <br/>I've tried half of the pizzas on the menu and loved them all. The Jerk Chicken was great. The Lamb pizzas are exceptional. <br/>The Tacos are amazing too (As someone who loves soft shell tacos)<br/>Wait staff is very attentive.<br/>The drinks are great too.
Dr Food
I dined there as part of a birthday party group. Enjoyed sampling the Great selection of Australian and international craft beers. A lovely menu of delicious gourmet pizzas. I'll be back !<br/>
Sophie
I had Breakfast here and it was average and the service wasn't great. Overall I was very underwhelmed with the restaurant and my experience here.
KB23
Great pizza and wide selection of drinks. If you're after something a little reminiscent of your childhood definitely try the Cider Spider. Otherwise, my favourite is the Hills Apple and Ginger offering. Best pizza? Torn between the lamb and big voodoo daddy.
Emily Bee
Great venue for breakfast. There was a wait, and they don't take bookings on weekends unfortunately. We were also warned there would be a 45 minute wait for breakfast. Didn't worry us, we weren't in a rush.<br/><br/>We were seated on back desk, which was great because inside was very loud. Food was great- I think between us we had the Truckstop, Tacos, Waffles, Levantine, Granola and the Breakfast Bruschetta. Everyone was really happy with their meal. I had a try of the Waffles and it was good, but I wouldn't eat the whole thing.<br/><br/>Only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is that we didn't get served until we flagged someone down, the first lady who too our drink order was really cranky (and got a coffee order wrong- they don't use note pads to take your order) and they didn't bring water to the table until we asked a second time (again, maybe a note pad would help?). It seemed really hard for all the servers to crack a smile too.<br/><br/>They split bills which is great for groups. Wouldn't definitely go back again.
Lambo Blair
Went to the Burrow for breakfast this morning, the food was really good and full of flavour. I had the pulled pork tacos with beans, salsa, sour cream, egg etc.<br/><br/>Other dishes we had included the breakfast bruschetta and also the waffles with bacon and maple syrup.<br/><br/>Service was also good and the place is nicely set up and reasonably spacious inside.
Melissathekisser_
How did they get it so wrong!. Service - absolutely no system in place it seems. <br/>Drinks - impossible to drink the margarita - who knew that was even possible?! <br/>Food - poutine - edible but not impressive. Pizza - thin crust, very little flavour. Buffalo wings - truly disgusting. You could taste that they had been twice cooked, nil seasoning. <br/>Don't waste your money - plenty of other places close by that could not be as bad as this.
Joseph Fraser
This West End restaurant has always been a pleasure to dine at, be it something planned weeks earlier or a quick afternoon decision, it's accommodated to often larger groups and provided reasonable food delivery. The atmosphere is enjoyable and pleasing to any who eat here, either inside, outside, up or down!

Waiting Waiting Waiting............... Granted Saturday Nights are reasonably busy, and staff seemed to be running around everywhere, but waiting 30 minutes for a drink, and almost 2hrs for food was very ordinary. Especially when a table that came in 40 minutes after our group (14 people) were served and eating 20 minutes before us. The Pizzas were barely more than a thin crust with a smear of food on them.<br/>Some of our group had eaten there before and recommended it. Obviously none of us will be returning..........

Burned beans. Please for the love of God. Train your barrista, burnt beans in a Cafe is not cool

Terrible service NO BREAKFAST. This is advertised as a breakfast house and theyve only been open an hour and a half and theyve stopped serving breakfast. <br/>Upon arrival i was ditched out the back to be forgotten with my fellow diners (this happened to two other parties, during my attendance).<br/><br/>No drinks order was taken upon seating and the servers were very attractive but incompetant and incidentally rude.

Organising a get-together for a big group can be a touch difficult with many places only offering set menus, or refusing to split the bill at the end. One place we came across that easily catered for 20 was this down-the-rabbit-hole eatery. The Burrow in Brisbane’s West End has set up tables that meander through an old Queenslander house, resulting in a quirky, artsy restaurant. Let’s hop to the review, shall we? Known as a coffee shop by day and a beer and cider house by night, the Burrow morphs into just the right type of eatery you may need at any time of the day. I mentioned the layout of this place is quirky, and The Burrow has embraced this characteristic wholeheartedly by hiding its menus inside children’s books, which is awesome. At first I wasn’t sure why were were given ‘Magical Spot What’ upon sitting at our table, but the light soon dawned that rather than spend a few hours here looking for the red bow-tie, we were meant to make a dinner selection from here.

Better luck next time. My partner and I ordered two of the "levantine" for breakfast and two coffees. the breakfast arrived promptly followed by our boiling hot coffees 10 mins afterwards. Milk wasnt quite burnt yet, but had to wait awhile before we were able to drink them...they were okay tasting.<br/><br/>Breakfast was a bit of a let down, the house made paratha wrap was hard and chewy making it difficult to eat and resulted in more than half the wrap left uneaten. I recall only receiving two very thin slices of haloumi that borderline overcooked and the merguez sausage for an extra $4 was also a let down. I enjoyed the fried cauliflower though, that was surprisingly delicious.<br/><br/>Service was okay, they were friendly enough when you needed something but weren't that concerned about whether you enjoyed your meal or not. I didn't hate the place but I wont be rushing back any time soon.

Worst breakfast brisbane. Ordered well done poached eggs for breakfast 8/3/15 and they arrived runny. Informed waitress who arranged to have them re-done but told me I would have to wait a while because they were busy. Eggs arrived after approx 10minutes and they were even more runny than first time. Being pregnant, I was unable to eat my meal. When paying the bill I informed the cashier who offered no apology. Worst breakfast and service in brisbane! Would not recommend!

I was just starting to wonder whether it was possible to find a Brisbane breakfast venue that was kid-friendly, when we stumbled across the Burrow in West End this morning. I have been there previously with friends but this was the first time I had taken my son and daughter there. The staff were very friendly from the outset and offered us a table that would accomodate hubby, self, Mr. 20 months (in a high chair) and our double seater pram for Miss 8 weeks. Those of you with little ones will understand how difficult it is to keep kids entertained whilst waiting for food to arrive but The Burrow offers a great solution – colouring in paper and drawing implements. Tables with kids had a small bucket of pencils and crayons and some  colouring in paper. Being able to just sit there and enjoy my coffee without constant whinging and sneering onlookers was bliss and I really wish more cafes would offer something like this but understand that some seek to deter children visiting. The food at the Burrow was also quite nice. I ordered the Breakfast Bruschetta, as pictured below and hubby ordered the B.E.L.T. (bacon, egg, lettuce and tomato). We thought these meals were well priced but the Manna, which we ordered for our son was way too expensive. It was two pieces of sourdough, a splash of balsamic on the side, a handful of rocket (which kids won’t eat), butter and vegemite for $9!! This is with consideration to the other kids’ meals such as waffles with ice-cream and sprinkles or sourdough with eggs (or beans) being priced at $9.50. I didn’t want to order sugar for his breakfast and he’s not yet wanting to touch eggs, which led us to order the Manna. Overall, our experience was very positive and it was a great venue for our family. I would go back in future but probably order the sourdough and eggs kid’s meal, rather than the overpriced ‘toast’. Love it! Favorite place for breakfast!! Have been numerous times! Absolutely love the breakfast tacos and the ham solo waffles! They are amazing!

Terrible service. I booked a lunch with my fiancé & arrived at 11.45am on a Sunday. Last time I went to Burrow a year ago it was fine, so we were looking forward to eating there again. We ordered before 7 other tables & all were served before us. We were left waiting an hour & the waiters did not offer us water or an explanatiom of the delay. After we asked one waiter , they checked the register & said our order was in and should be up next... Half an hour later still no meals. We ordered 2 pizzas & were a table of 2 people. As mentioned, 7 other tables which were larger than ours, and arrived after us, were served. They did give us 2 drinks free though after we cancelled our order & went to pay for the drinks before leaving. If this situation was handled a little better, it may have saved us from writing this review. Sadly, this was not the case. We will never be back again & will ensure our friends & family don't either. Poor form Burrow.

I used to love the burrow. Recently some or all of the following has changed: menu, management, value for money. The quality has gone down and the prices have gone up, unfortunately I don't think it's worth it any more, a real shame!

Love this place. Great breakfast, Beers and Pizza. Wish I got there more often

Served by four different people in 10 minutes, ordered twice, drinks finally came another 10 minutes later...in bottles...not sure what took so long but won't be back.

No need to introduce this place, awesome pizzas, and awesome beers and variety of drinks. Nice gathering place with great vibe. I rate it 7/10.

Great coffee, fast friendly service, great food.. We go to The Burrow regularly and we think they're just amazing! Great atmosphere, good, quick service, and great food.<br/><br/>The Burrow was my favourite breakfast place (and that's a big deal considering all the restaurants in West End!) until they took 'Alice Through the Looking Glass' off the menu. It was like this bread and butter pudding with pop rocks all through it... the best breakfast thing I've ever had! In keeping with the Alice theme, they replaced it with a really intricate cupcake in the shape of a mushroom which was also really cool. But it wasn't the same and they took that off the menu so now they don't really have a really excellent, innovative sweet breakfast dish on the menu. <br/><br/>But they're still amazing an I would encourage everyone to give them a try because they're all round great :-)

Took over an hour to get breakfast, food was ok but set the day aside if you intend to visit

Not the best choice if you are time limited. Friday lunch took 40 minutes to arrive - sad delay for burgers and pizza. <br/>Waitress told us that there was a 30 minute wait for food, but only after we queried her when our food wasn't there 30 minutes after ordering it !<br/>Food was ok, but not good enough to get me back.

Damn Fine Pizzas. Fantastic pizzas and a great choice. I had the Big Voodoo Daddy and the pulled pork was magnificent. Great range of beers and an awesome atmosphere.

Best pizzas in Brisbane!!. I love the Burrow! Every time I got there the service is great. The staff are friendly and don't keep us waiting long. The pizzas are amazing and the curly fries! I always order the pulled pork tacos for breakfast and the banana smoothie. Great atmosphere too! Highly recommend.

Completely disappointed. The decor and atmosphere gave off great vibes but the food was a complete let down. Seated upstairs waited 20 mins before we got offered drinks then further wait for order. Starter of chicken wings came within ten mins.. Hardly any flavour, we then had a 50 min wait for bland pizza and while waiting on the final pizza of our order, people who arrived 15 mins after us ordering, got their pizza served. Once we finished, it was like we had been abandoned as no other customers were upstairs and therefore no staff came near us. Avoid.
Fabiorustia
Disgusting. Worst pizza ever if you can even call it a pizza
Meowth
Average. Food 6/10: Big Voodoo Daddy - tasty mix between pulled pork and jerk chicken. Margherita pizzas - the fior di latte used has a good aroma and chewing texture.<br/>Coffee 7/10: My ristretto was bold with a strong aroma though the servicing saucer and cup were not clean. There were coffee grind and water marks.<br/>Ambience 7/10: Nice with hippy vibe and artistic graffiti for outdoor seating<br/>Service 7/10: Friendly smiley staff<br/><br/>Remark: Sunday later afternoon. The food tasted good though I was expecting a larger portion from the price. The wait for food was rather long whilst the restaurant wasn't busy. Each pizza contained four thin small slices which to me was more like an appetiser.
Stimpson1972
The Burrow. Don't bother, my pet hate is watching other people get their food before us and when it comes only half arrives and you have to wait another 15 minutes for the rest of the tables food to arrive
Brisvagueness
Friendly service, good brekkie. I'm surprised to see the service has got bad reviews here. We frequently go for coffee and the delicious berry smoothies in the afternoon and the staff are always very kind and attentive. I went for breakfast this morning and the service was great. It was really really busy so although our order was taken very quickly, it took about 20 minutes to arrive. However, given that the place was rammed this is hardly surprising. I'd be more concerned that it had been knocked up with a microwave if it came out immediately! When it did arrive, it was really delicious - eggs poached to perfection.<br/>I'll keep going back!
Brisbanegirl
Average. I've been here a few times and I would probably go back.<br/>The drinks list is extensive, with a few items that you really can't get anywhere else in Brisbane (much to my dismay).<br/>I experienced good service each time. Waiters seemed friendly and attentive. Meals weren't served particularly quickly, but I didn't feel like it was that long either.<br/>The pizza was good but a little on the blander side. I mean, I don't mind that sometimes so I enjoyed my meal, but it certainly isn't anything to write home about.
Michelle V
Disappointed with today's breakfast visit - food took waaaaay too long to arrive (over an hour?!) and when it did eventually arrive it was cold and bland. This cafe really needs to lift its game! Shame, because The Burrow used to be a fave of mine. But I'll be staying away from it on weekends! <br/>One more thing: the acoustics are terrible! We could hardly hear our conversation for all the loud noise and chatter clanging around the hard surfaces of the room :(
TheHungryCaterpillar
Always leave with a smile. I've been going to the Burrow for yonks and have never had a bad time. Often my large rambunctious family go and devour a variety of pizzas and of course their delicious onion rings!<br/>The waitstaff are quirky and always have pleasant attitude and are more than accommodating. <br/>It's a fantastic spot for birthdays with larger numbers, I've been to two wonderful birthday dinners there in the past month and its always be a blast. <br/>Cool vibe, lots of yummy teas. I'd try the ginger kiss it's delish!
Didels
Highly recommended. We have eaten at this restaurant several times. The staff are friendly and efficient. Not overbearing. The breakfast menu is different and innovative. All in all a pleasant restaurant and recommended.
Steven Mitchell Wright
Gave this place three attempts but the service lets it down every time. The food is ok but the staff don't seem to care or know what they are doing. I won't be back.
The Chosen Juan
Amazing pizza. The warm salad is good too. Good range for gluten free and vegetarians
Po83
Disappointed. Decided on a whim to come here, sad to say was the wrong decision. <br/>Came in, sat down looked at the menu realised most of the meals ended @ 3pm. So spoke to the staff, whom spoke to us as though speaking to a child - "this, this and this unavailable (pointing to each section) so only the pizza and chips are available to order." We questioned how large the pizzas were, and we were told that that the size of the pizza depended on the chefs mood.<br/>We understood that it was late in the afternoon, however if nothing is available, please don't open.
Foodie107
The worst cafe/food joint I've ever visited across 6 continents! Absolutely horrendous!!. I was invited to The Burrows by a friend. Apart from the awful wait staff and dirty little communal set-up fit only for cattle, there were no dishes that weren't made of pre-preserved ingredients out of a jar. I wanted to leave the moment I walked into this mouldy, dirty little place but since I was a guest I had to spend the next 3 hours tolerating the filthy place and horrendous service on an empty stomach as they couldn't care to serve me a single dish or drink requested.<br/><br/>They could not serve anything to eat without onion/garlic or any drink without alcohol/caffeine. I was informed by the staff they could not make any pizza without onion or garlic as all their sauces are pre-made, nor could they serve any non-alcoholic or caffeine-free drink as apparently they didn't do so after 5pm. When I explained that I couldn't find anything to eat on their menu due to allergies to onion/garlic and would appreciate if they could serve any dish without either, l was rudely declined with the words "Cant do it. All our sauces and ingredients are pre-made and we can not make any changes". When asked if I could get any drink without alcohol/caffeine, even a basic vanilla shake would do, I was rudely told they couldn't do that after 5pm as they had already washed their blender!! It was 5:10pm and there were only 3 other customers so not really a busy time. I had to spend the next 3 hours there starving and parched and shocked at how such a horribly disgusting place and service have any kind of repeat customers. Paying $25 for a pre-packed pizza at a place like this is not only ridiculous but also unbelievable. Leaving a paying customer hungry and thirsty for over 3 hours coz the blenders had already been washed is downright disgusting!! I am still shocked at the nerve of these people and the appalling behaviour in the name of service.<br/><br/>I've travelled 6 continents and am an absolute food lover. I love to explore new cuisines and places to eat and believe every place has something good to offer. This was the first time I couldn't find a single thing to eat or drink at a place and had to face what one can only call "officially the most disgraceful and appalling service possible". <br/><br/>My advice to people who do not consider themselves cattle and don't think of dumpsters as gourmet eating joint and maybe want a half decent meal that is not out of a pre-made box/can...please avoid this hole. <br/>They did get one thing right though... their name "the Borrow"- smelly, filthy, mouldy and fit only for rodents!!

Best brunch in town. The staff is real friendly. wonderful customer service all around. Sure the price is a bit on the plus side, but it is good value for money. Definitely wanna come back again and again and...

Disappointing lunch. Very disappointing lunch on a Friday. They weren't busy, had a few people downstairs, opted to sit upstairs for the fresh air. We ordered drinks, got all of them but one. The waitress said, "Oh I forgot to put that through, so they wouldn't have it yet, I'll go put it through now". We ordered 2 salads, a pizza and a cheeseburger (minus the relish/sauce) and asked for aoili on it. Waited 45-50 minutes for our meals, we all got our meals bar the cheeseburger (which was the same friend who had her lemonade 'forgotten' about). It had no aoili, it was dry and crusty and just wasn't even remotely nice to eat.

Best coffee in the hood.. Easily the best coffee in this part of town. I've had more than one 9.9 out of ten and nothing less than 7.5.The pizzas are great and the food is generally very good. I have had a couple of thing that sounded smarter than the flavours that were delivered, the confit lamb for example. Still, I appreciate the adventurousness. The service is perfect.

Great breakfast. We had a lovely breakfast here recently. The atmosphere is quirky and fun and the food was delicious and served quickly. They mixed up my friend's order, bringing poached instead of scrambled eggs, but were happy to bring a plate of scrambled so she didn't have to wait for the plate to be taken away and brought back again. <br/>I had the pulled pork tacos, which were generous with the pork and delicious. One criticism - that the bottom taco was laid on top of the basil garnishing oil and that made that side oily and a bit soggy.
JM
Seriously lamest food ever. Waste of money. No flavour. $15 for a plate of air. Do not go. Loud music, noisy environment! Rude staff and long waits. Soo expensive.
DiningDiva
9/10. Staff are super friendly and the venue is awesome. If you go for lunch during the day most of the pizzas are $10 and they are the perfect individual size. There are quite a few to choose from, I've tried about three different ones now and have not yet been disappointed. The one thing that let I down last time we visited was slow service although they were quite busy. The meals came out quickly but getting a menu was the challenge, I think the waiter was a little overwhelmed and accidentally forgot about us as it was packed but I won't let that stop me, one my my favourite places to dine!
Foodieinheels
Had dinner here on a Friday night - food was decent. Onion rings (love!) and buffalo wings (ok) for entree and 3 pizzas for mains between us 3 girls - which was way too much (2 would have been plenty!). Loved the motherfunghi pizza, the Diana Ross and chicken ones were just ok. Great drinks selection and service was spot on!

Breakfast and Dinner Favourite. Being a West End local we are spoilt for choice. The Burrow's breakfasts are original, quirky and HUGE! So big that I always regret not just sharing. The juices are delicious and staff are great. I think the Burrow is definitely underrated in the West End breakfast scene. <br/>The pizzas are delicious too and there is a great extensive list of beers and ciders. <br/>Big fan :)
Stephiieee
Excellent food and service. The food is original and has reinvented what you can do with a pizza, and it tastes amazing.<br/>The staff are so friendly and sincere. <br/>If aren't a people person, I would recommend going here because you are quite close to other tables, but the closeness didn't bother me because it was so relaxed, and the atmosphere was cosy and homey :)<br/>10/10
GardenGal
Manage large groups well!!!. Went here with 15 people for a Friday lunch. Didn't pre-order. All managed very well, and time from order to receiving lunch very reasonable.
Diner From Brisbane
Great atmosphere. This place is a wonderful place to meet with friends, the food is ok, but its a little expensive for what you get but an overall good experience.

Great Pizza. Dinner last night was 2 pizzas tick , 2 wines tick and pot of tea tick. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Highlight of the evening was watching a wee mouse eating the crumbs from under the table.
Whatshername
The good: Their pizzas are delicious and well priced. The drinks menu is extensive. <br/><br/>The not-so-good: The service is usually very slow so we often preorder so we have time to enjoy our meal during our 1 hr lunch break.
Aaron 'aZ' Panario
Rude staff, couldn't care less for our patronage. 5 minutes late for breakfast (which was not stated on their website) and the staff couldn't care less or be less welcoming. Will not return.
Ella
Food and beer/cider lovers - do yourself a favour and get to this place ASAP.
Tiffany Ritchie
Such an quirky place off the beaten track in west end...awesome pizzas, burgers and tea. We will definately be back to try out the extensive beer menu!
Breakfasthogs
3.5 / 5. The Burrow has a fairly diverse breakfast menu with some unique options that you won't find anywhere else. The soft tacos were delicious and the basics (i.e. bacon and egg variations) were done just right. However, the granola and yoghurt meal was sub par, as the portions of yoghurt and fruit were scant and there was no butter to accompany the bread. As for the drinks, the coffee was quite good, although the freshly-squeezed juice was a little bit disappointing, as it was served warm.<br/><br/>Other noteworthy features of The Burrow include its large meal sizes, its food presentation, its laid-back atmosphere, and its friendly and attentive staff.
Food Glorious Food
Little miss sunshine. As per title, I had little miss sunshine and it made me feel that way too!!<br/>Love the place. The dish was clean, healthy and delicious. <br/>It also felt really cosy. <br/>Coffee was ok. The chai wasn't too bad. <br/>Service was excellent. I love it when the waitstaff has such nice personalities. <br/><br/>Thank you for making my morning
Ines.schumann13
Best breakfast in Brisbane. Went here for breakfast last week for a friends birthday and was pleasantly surprised. Ordered the Bacon eater meal with a side of avocado. Serving size was huge and the price was really reasonable. Food was delicious and service was great. Would recommend to everyone and definitely go back again :)
Lauren
Very unimpressed. Service was good but food was terrible. I ordered little miss sunshine for brekky. It came out and was a bunch of stuff thrown on the plate, they just put half an avo still in skin on the side and it had gone all brown, there was next to no feta, there was no basil, tomatoes were either over ripe or under ripe. I saw another one ordered and it looked a lot better than what was placed in front of me so maybe it's not always that poorly presented. Even the ingredients though didn't seem to gel together. I only ate a couple of mouthfuls and couldn't eat anymore it was borderline disgusting. I like zucchini flowers but these ones were not very nice. Would not go back here.

Went for lunch on a saturday, restaurant was full so we had to sit outside at a picnic table in the dirt. Menus were dirty and overall there was not alot to choose from (only pizza and burgers served). Pizzas were very tasty with lots of flavour. Service by multiple staff was good considering how busy they were. Coffee and ice coffee (served in a jar!) wasn't the best i have tasted but better than alot of cafes.
Maya King
Amazing :). Been here so many times and the food is consistently amazing. Due to its popularity you DO sometimes have to wait a little while before your pizzas get to you, but it's always worth it. Good to go with a big group of friends - you can end up getting a full stomach for about $12 each. <br/>I've been here plenty of times for pizza but I went around for breakfast for the first time a little while ago and fell in love all over again. Fresh ingredients, great presentation, wonderful staff and very well-priced.<br/>Definitely one of my favourite places to eat :)
CB
This is a hidden gem! Funky fit out. Reminds me of the Melbourne scene. Service was good. I booked a table, but noticed that no one else (who walked in randomly) had to wait long to be seated. They have a list of different beers & cidars to try. Opted for the Mango & desert lime. Not too sweet. Quite refreshing. I had the steak burger, which came with chips & salad. The bun was fresh & wholemeal. The steak was cooked perfectly. Super delicious!!! Everything was above my expectations. Highly recommend this place.
Matt Linger
Great atmosphere. One of the best beer menus in brisbane, with quality food to match. Will be back!
Emily May
Awesome Vibe, Alright Food. I'd heard great things about The Burrow and my expectations were definitely met regarding the set up and vibe of the space, however I was a little disappointed with my food. Perhaps I ordered the wrong thing - but we went here for breakfast and my meal tasted like something I could have made at home. It was tasty alright, but didn't have the extra oomph some dishes have. HOWEVER, in saying that, my iced latte was great and the mixture of wooden 'tree-house' like decor, vintage lamps and chilled out music was fantastic, creating an overall awesome atmosphere! I will definitely be coming back for lunch and dinner!
Alice Santos
Great beers, somewhat unfriendly staff. The curly fries were delicious, beer selection extensive. The service is weird though. I understand it was busy but I've had to walk up to the staff to get my order taken. Quite disorganised and slow. There are a couple of staff members there that have a strange, unfriendly, (somewhat arrogant maybe? That's just the vibe I get) attitude. I don't mind this place for some drinks and food though.
Elle
I think they've been listening to the bad reviews and have improved!! Just had an awesome breakfast, prompt friendly service and full tummys. We will be back!!
Nomnom
Hit and miss but I like it. Overall, this place was pretty good. However, the oizza sizes were a little small for the $15 price and service/food was very slow. Not sure if I'll be back again but maybe if I find myself in west end and craving pizza.
Lauren Garrels
Trendy, not quite. Good service, nope. Interesting food, it's pizza. I'm not terribly impressed. They were missing key ingredients from dishes, weren't willing to accommodate allergies and left us along for half an hour, empty glasses and all. A table of 5 could have spent more cash! Oh well.
Brisfoodle
Worst service in brisbane?. I haven't had service this poor, this many times ever, I've been here 3 times wanting the previous to be an exception but it seems no one working there talks to each other and there is no management. I won't be returning.
Facebook User
Great place, people and food. This restaurant have a great environment for group of friends, couples or by yourself. The breackfast are amazing and also the beers and pizza.
Jessie
Exceptionally slow service. Pizzas are not bad, though great coffee.
Skordou
Appallingly rude!. My friend and I and our four small children (one in pram) dropped in for a coffee. From the moment we walked in, despite the place being less than half full, seating was a big problem. We were finally directed to the end of a large table near the cake display where I tried to find a place for the pram (with child in it) that would be least in the way, only to be informed that that was their work area. By that point, I'd had enough of the incredible rudeness and said as much, before turning on my heel and walking out.<br/>Went down the road to the Gun Shop where we should have gone in the first place and enjoyed friendly service and great coffees.
Sepp
Great beer selection, rubbish food. As a pub this place is great - great beer selection and many obscure micro beers for $7-8 is a top deal. <br/><br/>We might have made a mistake by not having a pizza, because their 'share' plates were a joke. The octopus had about 8 thinly sliced and rubbery bits of an octopus leg for $16. The duck was overcooked and a similar portion to the octopus. The staff did the right thing (for themselves) by not even enquiring how the food was ;)
Braydos87
Great pizzas and drinks. Went here as part of a work function. couldn't decide on what I wanted, so shared 4 pizzas with a friend (we are big eaters). Couldn't get through them all, but was worth the try.<br/><br/>Lucha Libre - great pizza. the mexican flavours come through and the sour cream and black bean corn salsa worked wonders.<br/><br/>Phoenix - yum. the roast peppers, tomatoes and relish worked well together<br/><br/>Hardcore Prawn - succulent prawns. i was scared that the salty sweetness of the seafood would be lost but it was great<br/><br/>Big Voodoo Daddy - this pizza was a disappointment on a massive scale. so many meats that were overcooked just confused the entire pizza and ruined the flavour. the coleslaw was way too bitter and left a bad aftertaste.<br/><br/>The variety of alcoholic drinks is amazing and how they are explained in the menu is an interesting read. i had an ice tea to finish off the meal to refreshen myself, but that was not good: flavourless and watery.<br/><br/>Service:<br/>we were served by 4 people. the young lady and the guy were great. attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. the young international girl had sloppy service and it appeared like she had no idea what was going on. the older lady knew her stuff, but was quite rude and rushed.
Laura Stripeikis
Fancy pants pizza, great drinks and atmosphere. Service has been absolutely terrible on two out of three visits, but we were compensated for being forgotten.
Sash_bird
Ok would not go back. Went for bfast, was busy and raining outside so a bit cold upstairs, nice menu, but food was undercooked and cold, not much taste, needed spice or something maybe basil but all a bit bland, coffee was weak too, would not go back, shame as love the idea/venue/menu

Bubbly. My mates and I had a really enjoyable lunch here the other day. Both the food and service were tops. The wagyu beef burger w/ curly fries left me very satisfied. Will definitely come back.

Mixed review about this one...<br/>Service wasn't good. The waitress came off as too cool and needed to engage somewhat. We had to ask her to check our drinks order, that apparently got pushed aside since they had no stock! After the 3rd try at ordering, our drinks came (after our pizza). Pizza was great, good vego options. <br/>Real shame the waitress had no idea about customer service and waiting tables.
Ellenjanes98
Not good. Breakfast was a none affair. With not a great deal to choose from I was expecting what was their to be amazing. Our food took forever to come to our table and then it was the wrong meal.<br/><br/>Both of our dishes were not particularly nice. And service was slow. I have read reviews that their lunch and dinner are better so we will try again at a later time. <br/><br/>The beer menu was very impressive.
Rachel
Trendy spot but the food is inconsistent. Some days the pork belly is fab, other days it's dry n overcooked

Lunch & Breaky Delish!. I have had Lunch and breakfast here and both have been great! <br/><br/>The staff have always been friendly and helpful with any questions, and service was always fast! <br/><br/>I have gone back time after time and it’s always delicious!<br/><br/>Tip: Sometimes in summer it can get a bit hot inside for lunch.
Gradelle
Great Pizza!. Great pizza, cool place to hang out with friends. Definitely try the Big Voodoo Daddy Pizza, its a fav. Love the fact that the place is huge, so they will always try to fit you in regardless how busy they are. They also have some beer tasting events that happens at times, we went for qld beer week and they are def one of the best dinner & drinks package event. Def a must place to kick back a few beers and grab some pizzas with friends.

Good at pizza, bad at breakfast. I'd eaten at Burrow before for lunch and dinner and had great experiences both times, so I was really looking forward to trying out their breakfast. Unfortunately, I left very disappointed. <br/><br/>Firstly, the service was friendly, but very patchy. We put in a coffee order to start, then were left for over 20 minutes with our menu's. We had to flag down a server to order. I ordered the bubble and squeak and my partner had the pork belly. The bubble and squeak was not good. At all. It was just sweet potato - that was it. It wasn't fried or anything - it was mostly just mashed. It was served with eggs baked in ham cups. Unfortunately, the eggs were inedible. They were overcooked to the points of rubber. It was almost comical. Then, on top of the sweet potato pile and hard eggs, they'd sprinkled honeycomb. Seriously. Honeycomb. I'm all for trying new things, but this was just plain wrong. My partner described his pork belly as weird and average - though I did question his decision to get pork belly for breakfast at all. One positive - the hash browns were fantastic and the coffee was good. We asked for the bill when our plates were finally cleared. It never came - we paid a fairly outrageous $60 bill (2 coffees, 2 juices, two breakfast) at the counter. <br/><br/>Stick to what you know, Burrow. Your pizzas are good - your breakfasts are not.
Archiguy81
What happened!?. This was my favourite cafe-bar-restaurant. I went back recently and found the menu prices have sky-rocketed and the menu items changed - not for the better. (Only one breakfast item has eggs - seriously who eats a taco for breakfast?). Don't get me wrong, the food is still good - I just can't justify spending $8 more than before.
Nicole
Curly Fries!. I like this place. The staff are always really nice, the food is good, it has a nice atmosphere.

Great food & Atmosphere. I frequently dine here and have done so since January 2013<br/>From the moment you walk in (with a booking due to popularity)<br/>welcomed with open arms, staff are all happy and personable.<br/><br/>Unlike most venues these days this restaurant has quirky character & not clinical like most modern venues.<br/>They serve up a mean pizza which dominates most of the dinner time menu.<br/>Lots of variety for all tastes including 4 rotating imported beers on tap, along with a vast selection (4 A4 pages!) of ciders spirits & wines, also from around the world. <br/><br/>Moderately priced & great for a first date or catch up with a friend/s<br/>Breakfast is also served here and is equally impressive! <br/><br/>A large credit goes to the staff for their personable and professional service to each diner.
Melissa McKeon Braund
Good atmosphere, trendy, 'through the looking glass' tasted great!
Andrew Tabemono
Dont go alone!. Be prepared to wait. If you have friends, you can have a good chat while you wait an hour or so. Certainly take their time with the food but it was delicious. I wouldnt say worth the wait but it was delicious. Wifey had the pork for breakfast and I had the berry waffle. There is definately a lot of deliciously good looking food being handed out which makes me want to go back and try them. Just remember to take a friend tho.
Lauren
So disappointed! We ordered and waited 1hr 10mins for our breakfast! And to be honest for breakfast I wouldn't fuss that much over it when it eventually came out. Don't think I will return. They need to manage the kitchen a lot better! During the time we were there about 7 customers were turned away and told by the waitress it was a 1hr wait for food! Wow! Turning customers away because the kitchen isn't managed properly
Diner
We have been sitting here for an hour and a half. Still no food. It took them 40 minutes to tell us they had run out of waffles and then it was 'the chefs call' to move our order to the end of the line. Even if the food is good we won't be coming here again - there are too many other good breakfasts around to put up with bad service
Kat
Had the best breakfast here on the weekend, very impressed. The food was delicious and very well presented. There banana smoothies are also fantastic!!
Jacinta
New Breakfast Menu. The new breakfast menu is great - food quality and presentation is exceptional and the coffee is delicious and strong.

All of the bunnies. I have been attending The Burrow since the doors first opened<br/><br/>The breakfast has evolved into, one of the most diverse, original, tastiest breakfast menus in West End, all the while at a great cost.<br/><br/>The coffee during the day has always been consistent and great. <br/><br/>I will always pay a visit to The Burrow whenever I am in West End.

Great Pizzas and great menu of beer and cider! The mango beer was awesome!

I have visited the burrow twice now. Once for lunch and once for dinner. I was impressed with the food on both visits. The breakfast menu is great, huge portions and great value for money. The pizzas for dinner were also really good with great combinations. The staff were very accommodating both times I visited. Can't wait to return soon,

On tge recommendation of one of my daughters, we went there for Father's Day Lunch and it was a great decision! Friendly staff and food was delish as wete their freshky made juices & coffee. Highly recommend.

Interesting breakfast choices. Went there a couple of weeks ago for an early breakfast - first people in the door. Had the Django Swineheart - braised pork belly which was large. The chestnuts I basically tried and left on the side of the plate - meh. Lots of leaves and the potato hash was not that great an addition either. Was a cool morning and having the door wide open meant the whole place was freezing.

Love the Burrow!. Have been a Burrow fan ever since they opened and have tried their breakfast, lunch and dinner menus and never been disappointed. Great friendly service, awesome drinks list and one of the best pizzas in town! The toppings are so unique but it works well...always looking forward to the everchanging menu.

The wheels fell off tonight. This evenings family evening meal out took a turn for the worse when we visited the Burrow in West End. We have been before and have more than once had difficulty getting a table so they appear to have dealt with this by opening up a laneway outdoor area. Which is all good until they forget to bring your Pizzas. When we observed a table that had arrived and ordered after us being served before us we started to ask about our food. <br/><br/>Conversation eventually ran out and we asked again. Then a third time and shortly after cold pizza on cold plates arrived. We reached the conclusion that our meals had been prepared some time before and had lost their way coming to the table. <br/><br/>Cold Pizza for breakfast is one thing but it is not what we expect at table. The prawns were dried out. The wait staff offered to replace but not having another spare hour to burn we opted to eat what was bought. The supposedly in your face strong chilli barbecue pizza was borderline bland. <br/><br/>On voicing our concern we were offered and accepted a 10% discount but I'm sorry - that and the apologies received did not do it for us. It will be a very very long time before we return. Perhaps The Burrow might reflect on the combination of perceived greed (extra tables) and gaps in staff cover that permitted cold pizza to reach the table. <br/><br/>I have 40 years in hospitality and, upon consideration, I think the best thing would have been to get in-front of the issue and come to the table telling us the Pizzas had been lost in the system, very sorry, and discuss what could be done to make it right. In offering to remake it was never even hinted that the replacements might be fast tracked through the kitchen - if it had been and we were given a realistic time frame out outcome would have been very different and this review would not have been required.

Great range of beer/ cider, excellent pizzas, friendly service, fantastic atmosphere! I will be back!

Breakfast to die for. I am NEVER disappointed when I visit the Burrow it's breakfasts are to die for, so unique and interesting. Not to mention generous and the prices and fantastic service. Anyone with a sweet tooth should try the ALICE it’s like a work of art and the bacon and eggs are amazing. The atmosphere is lovely, it's central, urban, cool and you can tell they use only the best quality ingredients. I will be back time and time again. Well done to the team at the burrow for a job well done.

Fool me once... Went there twice, first time was just okay, nothing to write home about. second time was a sunday evening where a friend and i spent 10 minutes waiting to have our order taken, then another 30mins for it to never come... we simply walked out, never to return again. if an establishment cant fulfil a 2 drink order in at least 15mins, then it shouldn't be around. staff are rude and inattentive. avoid this place at all costs.

Two thumbs up. We were looking for somewhere a little "different" for a reasonably priced but nice meal before going to see the Bolshoi the other week, and this place looked interesting. As a local worker in the area, I had been curious for the last year or so, since it opened. We are not well off (with the number of kids we have), so we opted to share a large starter and large pizza and have a couple of drinks. <br/><br/>From the moment we entered, the friendly staff could not do enough for us. This was a very pleasant start to the evening, and a sign of things to come.<br/><br/>The menu looked Mediterranean with a few interesting twists, and we settled on a starter called Archimedes (prosciutto with artichoke puree, smoked tomatoes, taleggio and walnut salsa verde). My missus selected the Napoleone Pear Cider to accompany her meal, whilst I was still sitting there being blown away by the beer menu and nowhere near making a choice. I love my IPA's and thought there was only one establishment in the West End capable of taking care of me up until now. I eventually selected the Kooinda ‘Black IPA’ which seemed high in hops and alcohol (it needed to be if I was going to the ballet) and low on price. It may or may not have been on tap, but with a list of seventy beers (yes 70!), I could be forgiven for not knowing if it was a guest ale or not. Not sure about that one, but it was dark, delicious, full bodied, perfect head and hoppier than the Easter Bunny. The starter was served by a friendly waitress on a long wooden board (-the food that is), and the presentation of colours and textures was as titillating as sliced ham, and pickled veg can be. We didn't want to upset the display, but we hooked in nonetheless. The combination of flavours with our drink selection was ideal, and I don't think we could have picked better. Portion size was pretty much bang on for a slightly up market feed, and after 15 minutes of degustation, it left us anticipating the goat pizza we had selected as a main. <br/><br/>OH MY GOAT! was our pizza. "Kashmiri Goat, red onion, spinach & cashews finished with cucumber mint yoghurt" - is what the menu said. "Another Kooinda Black, please", - is what I said to the eager to please waitress as she checked that everything was alright with our starter, and delivered unto us our little slices of heaven on a large plate. Thin and crispy, well textured, invitingly presented and another flavour sensation delivered to our buds - BOOM!<br/>I did not want them to take the menu away at this stage, because I was enjoying reading it, selecting what I was going to have next time, and wondering what hard core prawn, or rabbit confit, or truffled beef cheek might taste like on a pizza.<br/><br/>Needless to say, we got out of there reasonably financially in tact, after a spend of under $60 for two people, including boutique beveridges. I could have eaten a little more (we skipped dessert), but it was ample for my waif of a partner and left me money and room for the Martini down the road at QPAC, where the bar staff had to be educated on the ingredients - but that's another story. We will be back. Try this place. It is well worth a look in.
Jeanie
Rude and inhospitable waiting staff, I was quite offended by their attitudes.

Mixed feelings: great beer and coffee, poor service. I have very mixed feelings about this place. The service is mediocre at best, and bordering on arrogant at times. It is the only place with supposed 'table service' that I have ever walked out of due to being ignored for far too long.<br/><br/>But the selection of beers is fantastic and the coffee is great. The vibe inside the place is pretty nice, excepting some of the arrogant staff. <br/><br/>I'm sure I will go back, because it's a nice place to chill with a beer or coffee. But the staff are very off-putting.

Great place. I've been regularly dining at the Burrow, with a young family for the past few months. The eclectic menu, complemented by fun and attentive staff make this a West End regular haunt. Staff are genuinely warm, coffee is consistently good as is the varied and tasty breakfast fare. Later in the day pizza and beer options are spectacular.
Jim Buchan
Far too many other options!. I've been to the burrow several times now and each time I have been very disappointed. The service is extremely average with staff not knowing the menu, unable to offer drink suggestions or explain the dishes. My latest visit left me waiting for almost an hour for a pizza and 40 minutes for a coffee. The pricing on the menu unfortunately does not reflect the quality, especially when there are much better options in terms of food quality and pricing all around west end & South Bank (la via pizzas for one!). I don't understand the hype surrounding this venue. It seems that the image of this place off sets everything else for the burrow. I encourage people to look around at what else is on offer.

Avoid breakfast!. Dinner and lunch- this place is great. But beware the breakfast time.<br/><br/>I have been three times, the first because I wanted to check it out and the other two because the line at neighbouring Gunshop was too long for my company. Twice our meal orders were simply forgotten, and each time coffee orders were incorrect (group sizes 2-5). The first time the meals were forgotten they dismissed the hour wait, just that the kitchen was busy- we watched all the people around us come, order and get their meals. We had to pressure the waitress to check to see if our meals were coming and sure enough the kitchen hadn't received them. The second time the meals were forgotten was similar, waited a long time and asked if the meals were coming. To their credit they told us our coffees were free both times... although they ended up on the bill anyway.

Cutest, comfortable, cosy setting, great food. Love it here!! One of the best places for brunch or pizza dinner in west end. Definitely recommend it.
Scuz86
Yes!. The borrow is a winner. <br/><br/>I went for breakfest with my girlfriend and we shared the beef cheeks on sour dough and the pork belly. Both dishes were very reasonably sized and delicious. <br/><br/>Great care was taken into preparing the pork belly and the dish was presented beautifully. The beef cheeks were tender and flavourful and a large serving of it too which will please costumers with a big appetite. My only note would be for a bit more jus with the beef cheeks to give it some more sweetness<br/><br/>Will definitely go back, very satisfied!
Nicola
Brilliant varied cider menu and great food. Love the buffalo soldiers and a good combination of figs, proscuitto and blue cheese on the aphrodite pizza. Always a fun night here.
Meryl Verstraaten
Wonderful pizza. Had a chorizo, olive and cheese pizza. Absolutely beautiful. Also loved the squeezed OJ in a jar. will definitely be back again

Best Pizza in Town!. I have been searching for a pizza with great flavours and very little base for a long time. I have finally found it! No heartburn and very satisfied taste buds .. Well done The Burrow!

Delicious Pizza. Had the best pizza here. Great service also. Will be back.

This place is amazing. The moment I entered I felt at home, and was welcomed by friendly staff and the smell of pizza. The pizza here is perfect. I couldn't stop eating it for long enough to take a photo, so good. I highly recommend the big voodoo daddy. Service was fast and great. I'm eating as I write this review but the thought of the pizza is making me hungry again.

Pizza and beer. West End kicking (peaceful) butt again. The Burrow has fantastic pizzas, boutique beer, a great aesthetic and a chilled vibe. As with anything that can earn the word "boutique", there's a price attached, but not enough to turn you to a street kebab instead. For every negative service review, there's a zillion positive. This is West End serving West End, so chill out, enjoy the vibe, and be a part of it.

Diana. Finally managed to try The Burrow & was quite impressed. Have actually been into the venue when the Turkish restaurant had it & the interior hasn't changed much since then Still that rustic, homely feel about it & just love the chunky furniture & stained glass. The service is super friendly, but we did have a bit of a wait for our coffees, which when they did eventually arrive we had already been served our breakfast. The coffee was from the roastery at West End so was really good. Our breakfast dishes were a work of art on the plate, but I can't say I really enjoyed my bagal with sundried tomatoes & avocado. Just seemed to be overpowered by the tomatoes & the sauce they had used for plating decoration had soaked into the bagal. My partner really enjoyed his dish however which was "the little bit cheeky"
Ellasyn
Went here for breakfast - menu is very limited and overpriced for pretty basic food ($17 for eggs on toast). I would not go back for breaky. <br/>However, people are raving about their pizzas, so I would be interested in trying their dinner menu.
Susan
The Burrow. WOW, what can I say when the service, food, sparkling drinks, atmosphere was perfect ? Can just say that I will be going again and again....tks for a refreshing experience !

What a litttle gem!. I went here with a few girlfriends last Saturday afternoon because a friend had recommened the burrow. What a fantastic, quirky little place. The chalk art is so cool and our $10 pizzas were delicious. I will definatly be back for another chilled out afternoon with friends soon. Highly recommend to all :)

Best pizza ever so I will be back! And friendly staff but once we ordered and finished our food we didn't see another staff member again - we would have had another drink and dessert but couldn't get anyone's attention. In the end we went somewhere else. This is the ave old problem across Brisbane Food establishments so everyone needs to remember to ask if people want some else!

Love this snug place!. Even though it just keeps on getting bigger with a beautiful downstairs, upstairs, balcony and outside area it maintains it's snug feel and charm. I'm regularly at this place and it's our home away from home. Delectable pizzas with the perfect thin crust, delightful toppings and delicious teas. Alan the owner is incredible and all the staff are super friendly. Go check out the wonderfully creative cupcakes often on show too. It's popular so book your dinner!

Home away from home. I've been to The Burrow now a number of times over the last few months and it's fast turned into my favourite café across all of Brisbane. The atmosphere is comfortable, the service is very friendly, the food is delightful and the coffee and hot chocolate are amazing! We are always greeted with friendly smiles and courteous favour. I especially love the Burrow Blend Coffee (flat white), Cinnamon Hot Chocolate and the Diana Ross Pizza. Thanks to Alan and his team for making The Burrow our home away from home.
Nice 'n Easy
Top notch. Everytime I've visited The Burrow the service has been excellent! Extensive beer menu. One of my favourite places in West End.
Ruby
A refreshing change. Wonderful service, friendly and polite.

Slightly overpriced but still good. Went here for breakfast, I feel like the meals are slightly overpriced for a) breakfast and b) wasn't the best breakfast I have ever had, good but I thought they quality would be a bit higher considering the price. The wait staff need some training/direction. They were all lovely and friendly but we had to ask for cutlery, ask for water, coffee was forgotten etc, just a little more organisation on this part would go a long way. The servings are good, I left feeling satisfied and I love the atmosphere and setup, casual but cool.

Yum food. Love lunch at this place!!

Went for lunch. Pizza was superb. Burger was good. Plenty of beers To choose from. Will be going back.

We went for breakfast today and I'd have to say it was very good. The menu is a little out there I have to say (I'm a simple guy), but the special was a bacon, egg and tomato sandwich with an apple coleslaw. I have to say it was very nice, with a lot of care put into it. It was only $9.50 too, so good value. Our waitress was very nice and drinks and food came out quickly. My coffee was spot on (not pure milk or a quadruple shot of death). My only suggestion would be to add some more simple dishes to the menu perhaps? But I'd definitely go back :-)

Sunday peak. Was in need of late solo breakfast last Sunday, got a table and ordered. Very surprised to be told, because mine wasn't a 'big order', that mine would take longer. Really? Could you not have said its really busy there is a wait? Why did it have to be described like that. What deems an order 'big' , and why doesn't it just go in as orders as they come. Didn't realise the Burrow treated breakfast as a class system. I like the place, but not that service.
Bea D
Amazing food, loved it, great atmosphere and good service!
Kitkat101
Hard to decide. First time around, service and food were excellent. Second time around, service was quite dismal, even though they were very friendly everyone seemed new and couldn't remember our requests so we had to ask at least 3x for things. They forgot our chips we ordered and it all took a very long time. Probably wont go back unless it gets better. Innovative pizza toppings though which is good.

The Burrow - West End, Brisbane. Okay, insert your Harry Potter jokes here - and we're done. Much like the said house, this place is very friendly and relaxing with that inviting atmosphere to have meal or maybe just a coffee and sweet while reading. From the busy streets this is a place of solitutde. To top this all off, the breakfasts here are some of the more bold and delicious that can be found in its own suburb alone.l<br/><br/>I went on a Sunday with my dining buddy to this place and there were a few people in there in an otherwise fairly quiet main area of West End - some other places were popular as well. It is one of these places that the vibe and charm became apparent just from walking in the restaurant; they have fitted out an old Queenslander and made it akin to the name as a kind of burrow with the cool temperature and low lighting utilising natural light (which does not penetrate to much into the building).<br/>The table arrangements are ununiform with some long tables and a few small coffee tables depending on the size of the party. Although it took a little rearrangment, the coffee tables can fit all that was needed onto them. <br/><br/>To begin, it was the usual coffee order - a double shot cappuccino. That term changes meaning a bit depending on the place, here it was essentially a large coffee (mug) so that was what I had. These are really big in comparrison to the small coffees which look best for espressos. The coffee here is excellent, the milk, froth, espresso and chocolate powder on top all segued into one another creating a wonderful concoction of a drink. Its consistency was fantastic, the milk quite creamy and it had a really good strength<br/><br/>For breakfast, I could not go past the pulled pork tacos - ergo, that was my order. It came with all the condiments: pico de gallo, jalepeno salsa, sour cream, huevos rancheros, a side salad and the optional hot sauce (which one taste of it was enough for me, and I have a somewhat high tolerance for spice I like to think). The tacos were served in a soft shell. <br/>I have been to a fair few Mexican restaurants before, and I can say that this did the job better than most of those places. <br/><br/>The items were all fresh, plentiful and colourful. There was just enough pork to fill up the tacos without worry of the items falling out of the tortilla; the pork was tender, juicy and a very fine texture. It had all the essence that pulled pork needs to have. All the other items from the pico de gallo to the huevos rancheros were fresh and their natural flavours and co-opeartively combined with each other while being independent in flavour. The egg in the huevos rancheros was as I like it - having the yolk runny. <br/><br/>One odd thing was that there seemed to be a fair bit of salt on the side salad - that did prevent it from being just a side salad so I guess it did work. <br/><br/>I managed to nick some of dining buddy's stuff, he ordered the pork belly and this pork belly was very good. Tender with the fat marbling throughout the flesh. There was some poached pear which was also tasty. On the side, he got some bacon and this bacon was fantastically cooked; there was a fair bit of the fat still on it thus it was crispy and smoky in flavour. <br/><br/>To make matters about this place better, their breakfast menu is but one of the menus available here. They also have an interesting and extensive pizza menu for lunch and dinner. From the looks of that, it is worthy returning here to try them. <br/><br/>The chances of me going back here are very likely, it has that feel that you know internally which makes you want to go back with new people to show them it but also just to try it out again. There are few adjectives that I can think of now to describe this place and just how good it is; what can be said though is that it should be tried out for one's own. Regrets are unlikely.
Markus Giesen
Good food, quick service even though it was rather busy. Would definitely recommend this place!
Me
Wow! LOVED IT! Had the granola n my partner ordered "a bit cheeky" and both were amazing, flavourful n beautifully presented. Super interesting menu too! Now I understand why it is so busy for breakfast! I'm def going back!

Has potential. The pizzas look interesting on the menu but were bland. Unfortunately the beef cheek was so minimal on the truffle pizza we forgot about It completely. They seem to have fast service as a focus so pizza quality suffers. A good pizza is worth a wait. Huge drinks list and can't comment too much except to say check the use by date on the bottle of anything on special. There s a pleasant vibe about the place and wold recommend for a catch up drink.
Looking4GoodBrekky
Not worth it for breakfast. The coffee was really good but that was where it ended. I was really disappointed with the menu. We are looking for a good honest breakfast menu in Brisbane with a decent selection of sweet and savory. The only sweet option was bread and butter pudding and the rest savory. With items such as pork belly and tacos on the savory list...I think these guys are trying too hard for breakfast. We ended up waiting about 40min for our breakfast to come out and then when it did it wasn't worth the wait. I think you pay for the presentation of the food (which looked great) but the taste was bland and the size small - average. Service was ok and atmosphere was good.
Chloe
Too much choice. Amazing decor and fantastic customer service. The 'Fog City' sangria is delicious and the drinks menu is extensive. The pizza and sub options were great however the tofu burger was bland, but bearable. Overall great place to spend your lazy Sunday afternoon.
Danielle Schulte
Nope. Early morning, Maybe five other tables and yet we waited nearly forty minutes for an iced coffee and a flat white.<br/><br/>Food took a further forty minutes (did beat the second round of coffee though) and was not worth the wait. Beef cheek was completely tasteless and dry dry dry. Toast was rock hard. Same goes for the eggs and both were cold to the touch. Understaffed was not a valid excuse.<br/><br/>I can see how it would be a nice atmosphere for pizza and booze but avoid brekky.

Avoid Saturday morning!. I recently went to West End to grab some breakfast with a friend. It was Saturday morning and after waiting a few minutes in line for the Gunshop Cafe we decided we'd try out The Burrow just down the road. Beautiful decor and feel to the place, we were seated immediately and left to browse the menu. We ordered and then came the disappointing part; waiting for over an hr and 20 mins for said orders. Not sure if we were forgotten or if it was simply due to how insanely busy they were? Food was good when it did eventually come but at almost an hr and half, it wasn't good enough. I'd go again but maybe not on what is probably their busiest day of the week!
Melly
Great breakfast spot! Very popular so best to go early. The pulled pork tacos were delicious and generous sized servings.
ThisGirlCanEat
One of my favourites!. I have been to the Burrow 3 times for breakfast and once for lunch now. On two of the breakfast occasions I had the honey and fruit granola and the other time the 'wakey wakey eggs and bakey' (bacon and eggs). I can thoroughly recommend both these options. The granola is absolutely delightful and very aesthetically pleasing. It is served dry with buffalo yoghurt on the side and milk in a miniature jug so that you can pour it yourself. The edible flowers make the plate extra pretty and the craberries, apple, and mango create quite a taste sensation. The eggs and bacon combo is similarly delicious with the egss cooked anyway you want it and served on a yummy rye bread. The bacon is also very fresh and not too salty with a smokey honey flavour. The burrow is also very good at making coffee (make sure you go for a mug because the cups are very small) but service can be quite slow. Finally the pizza, on my visit I had the Phoenix pizza (chicken, roasted peppers, tomatoes and jalepeno relish) whilst my friend had the 'everyday i'm trufflin' (beef cheek, potatoes, rocket and parmesan) and we were both very satisfied. They have a very large range of beer and cider too, which accompanied the pizzas very well. This is without a doubt one of my favourite places in West End!
Tash
I am a burrower. Definite fan of the Burrow, food was tasty, extensive menu and friendly staff. As other reviews indicate there is a bit of a wait to receive drinks and food but if you want a quick meal you can order take away.. <br/>Badger Badger Mushroom Mushroom pizza was the winner at the table and Feral Brewery IPA won top beer. Also worth a mention was the team’s ability to cater for a large group. See you in the Burrow again soon!
Munch Munch Munch
Went here for the first time for breakfast and waited over an hour for burnt bacon, hard poached eggs and toast you can't cut.... Staff are hopeless too. Nice atmosphere, probably ok for a drink, but will not be coming back for breakfast.
Paul Lange
Worthy spot for a bite to eat. I have now enjoyed a lunch and a dinner at the Burrow. I found the service to be warm and friendly although drinks were a little slow at dinner (but I feel that is part of the charm). The food at dinner (3 of us shared a selection of pizza including my fav hillbilly chili and the Ottoman) was of a high quality with a great base. <br/>For my lunch visit I enjoyed the Lucha Libre sub without chips which I found to be great value and just the right portion for lunch. The place was buzzing and whilst the ordering took a while the food came in good time. The sub was flavorful and fresh and again the service was warm and friendly. My friend enjoyed the burrow burger which looked pretty good from my side of the table.
Pat Anderson
As previously stated in a few reviews the service and timing of food is well below average. I went on a Thursday night at about 6:45p ordered a beer and a pizza. Pizza took 55min to come out and that was after asking staff twice how long it was gonna be, who would disappear and then not return. While the place is pretty funky and had a great beer selection I won't be returning anytime soon.
Jake Smith
Seriously long wait. Hip funky but seriously overpriced and the wait is soooooo long for what promised to be interesting pizza, but turned out to be ordinary. good beer selection but this fails to impress.
Kimberly West
Love love love this place. Nothing negative to say about it at all. Excellent coffee, juices, pizzas, cakes... Just can't get enough!
David Allen
Oh My Goat! That was awesome. Delicious cold cider to escape the heat was a great decision

Mango smoothie please.. Here's a mango smoothie (thickshake) mam. Title is quite self-explanatory. I ordered a soy mango smoothie, got something that I couldn't actually suck out of the straw. After spoon feeding myself this mango thing, I asked if they could make it into a smoothie consistency, the guy poured a heap of soy milk up to the top of my glass. I looked dumbstruck, he asked me if I'd like it blended, I said yes please. It came back and tasted like a whole glass of soy milk with weird vague mango flavouring. They don't use fresh fruit either.. <br/>The staff seem nice and the decor is pretty cool/ chill. It'd be a nice place to read a book and have a coffee (hopefully they're not like a smoothie consistency!!)
Jordan
From ordering coffee took 20mins and food took over an hour. Atrocious service from all staff and the food was stone cold, bland and flavourless. Line up else where, it's worth the wait.
DS
Food? Didn't get to order any..... Arrived at 1155am on a Sunday - showed to a table - given a lunch menu. Went to front counter at noon to order lunch, was told lunch would not be started until about 1220pm, asked for a breakfast menu, was told breakfast had finished...Ridiculous set up...left and will not return.
Brownbred
Not bad, not great. Great food, great decor, service was disorganised and slow.

Overrated, wannabe hipster venue!<br/>Food was not the worst, great tables however the service and attitude of staff was the worst experienced. #hipsterfail

Excellent Beers and Pizza.. The Burrow is a rare sort of place in that it has an excellent range of craft beer AND serves excellent food. So often a restaurant can be great until you realise that the only beers on offer are XXXX, VB, and a few supposedly 'premium beers' like Crown Lager and Corona. How embarrassing.<br/><br/>'The Burrow' knows about beer. They have a regular beer list that spans an A4 page as well as a seasonal beer list. Beer snobs like myself can delight.<br/><br/>The food is great too. I've only had the pizzas at The Burrow so far but can thoroughly endorse them. The pizzas are thin-based and packed with toppings and flavour. Hillbilly Chilli is incredible. <br/><br/>The place looks like a house with wood everywhere (so much hipster cred) and as a pretty relaxed sort of atmosphere. <br/><br/>I like this place very much.
Brendan
Nice decor, good selection of beer, food was average and service was poor took 45 minutes to get meal. Overall disappointed.

Great for a casual lunch. Awesome pizzas, amazing selection of beers (try the mango one!). Especially good on a hot day, sitting next to the windows with the breeze going past.
Black Hat Dave
Unfortunately very hot inside at lunch time in a hottish Brisbane day.. No menu to read, 5 minutes waiting in a very short queue meant I bought my lunch at the little cafe opposite which has no such issues.. Sorry, I am not into sitting in hot rooms..

Best Breakfast in Brisbane!. The most amazing breakfast menu. It's refreshing to see something different rather than the standard variation of bacon and eggs. Pork Belly & Celeriac mash for breakfast.....don't mind if I do!
Elle
I was a bit weary of this place because of the mixed reviews but gosh I was so happily surprised. The pizza and burger I shared with my friend over lunch was delicious. One of the best pizzas I've had in a while...and at amazing value..only $10! Place was really cosy too :) have already raved on about this place to all my friends.
Jay
Staff were great, but food (breakfast) was average and lacked variety.
Emma
YUM. Brisbane’s best pizza! We tried this place for the first time. If you like interesting pizza with gluten free options this is the place to go. The service was friendly, the Adelaide Hills Cider was amazing and the long wooden tables created a fun atmosphere. I would recommend this for a couple or a large group of friends.
Jazc
Good coffee. Breakfast can be tasty - though some can be surprisingly bland - but pricy for what they are. Excellent breezy vibe.
Paul Smith
Hmmmm. Nice atmosphere but poor value.. The service and venue was good but I have to ask the question whether $20+ for 2 eggs scrambled, 1 small slice of Turkish bread, a handful of spinach, a couple of mushrooms and some processed ham, is reasonable value for money? I don't think so and I know any tourists from the USA or Europe would be horrified. I've just been in the UK and I believe that as far as food and drink goes, Brisbane has priced itself completely out of the tourism market. Sorry guys, but you need to either charge less or deliver more.
GeorgiaIsobel
Decor is great! Funky. Staff were attentive and polite. Those beer battered chips with the chutney were amazing! The pizzas tasted great but the downside was that they took way too long to get to the table. Apart from that, good place. Wouldn't recommend it for a romantic night out but for hangs with friends this is perfect.
Ljh62
What a gorgeous cafe. Had late lunch, enjoyed the PNG, pear, procuito, gorgonzola pizza, with fresh squeezed fruit juice, while sitting on the verandah upstairs! Nice!!!
Kladam
Ups and downs!. Great drinks and the venue is lovely but guys seriously, the wait for your food is far toooooo long and it's honestly a total waste of money... I could match your breakfasts with some corn flakes in all seriousness and any local pizza place would give you a run for money on your pizza menu!

Good choice of beer. Has a great selection of beers, about two full pages worth, Also, great atmosphere and friendly staff. Will be back again

On the way to success I think. Dinner here last night with another couple. Nice selection of interesting beers - wine list restricted but OK.<br/>Three pizzas selected and all were very good. Great thin crispy bases and genuine Italian style toppings (as in not too much sauce. sparse cheese and not too many toppings on each one).<br/>Vibe is chilled and noise levels were great in that you could actually hava a conversation.<br/>The decor is not special and there are still a few rough edges to the service but all in all a solid addition to the West End scene.

A nice quaint place with a great variety of bottled boutique beers, cider and ever changing tap beer. <br/><br/>My favourite pizza is the margherita and the trio of pickles are good too. <br/><br/>Will visit again and try more beers! Definitely a place to visit if you like craft beer.

Avoid for sunday breakfast!!!!. After walking in with my friend looking forward to a nice Sunday breakfast, we sat down and within two minutes were told by a waiter that we would not be able to order off the breakfast menu (it was just before 11-30) and if we wanted to order lunch we would have to wait approx. 1 Hour to receive our meals. We were more or less told that they didn't want our business! After that we just got straight back up and walked out again - if a relaxing morning meal with friends is what you are looking for you probably won't find it here!!!!

Mixed Feelings. I really want to like this place! My husband and I have eaten here once for lunch and then a Saturday night later dinner. First off, love the atmosphere and it's a place that makes you want to stay a while, especially with the decent beer list and amazing Belgian hot chocolate! However, our second visit had us there around 7:45 and out at about 9:30 because the wait for the food was approximately 40 minutes. Our beers were served promptly and the servers were attentive enough, but the food just wasn't coming and we had to chase it up a couple of times. For thin crust pizzas, I'm not sure what takes so long. The flavor overall was good, but the toppings really lacking. For example, my hub got the margherita and it had about 1 basil leaf per slice :/ The manager gave us to Beligan hot chocolates on the house and apologize a few times, which made it a little better. For context, it was still pretty busy when we got there, but the two big tables had already ordered and gotten their food so it wasn't so obvious as to why ours (and the tables near us) had to wait so long. Would go back for beers....just after we've already eaten!

Good On Paper. This place looks great on paper, but it doesn't deliver. The good - The beers are great, good selection. The place is funky and has a nice atmosphere. The staff are also nice. The Bad - The Pizzas are terribly bland and taste mostly of flour. They sound great but really fail on taste.

The Burrow has a great vibe!! Staff are charismatic and attentive. Pizzas look good. Drinks list is big and exciting! Cannot wait to get back there again. Lots of quirky little knick knacks are cute! Chubacapra recommended wine!! Fun Guy recommend pizza!

A pizza joint that ran out of dough?. Yep, they ran out of dough for our dessert pizza! Which would have been totally fine, if they had told us a bit earlier than half an hour after we ordered. The Burrow is in a great spot, and the atmosphere is fantastic. Sadly, it was let down by the service. It took us 20 mins or more to get drinks, and we usually ended up going to find someone to chase them up. They have a huge beer menu, but when we asked about certain beers we got 'oh, i don't know anything about beer'. There were plenty of staff, they just didn't appear to be on the ball. The Burrow has huge potential, but unless they improve their service, I can't see myself going back.

Great drink choices. I went here a couple of months ago with a group of friends and we shared an antipasto platter (which was awesome) and a bunch of pizzas. The Hillybilly Chilli was the standout. The PNG was ok, so was the Mr Potato Head. I tried the Hillbilly Chilli first and it was so good I just wasn't interested in anything else. I was really excited about trying "The Burrow" with confit rabbit, green olives, basil & mozzerella but it was not as amazing as I'd expected. Maybe more olives or more sauce. It was just a bit too dry. In saying that, we devoured everything. I'll definitely be back. How can you not go to a place that serves cider spiders?
Veggie Crusader
Great Beer, good pizza. They have a great Beer selection, the pizza was decent, lots of vegetarian options. Good vibe, GREAT service.
Leana
Brilliant service!. We popped in here last night after dinner for a drink. Very impressed with the extensive cider list and the "Cheeky Rascal" cider on tap. The customer service was friendly and fantastic. Will definitely be coming back here with friends to try the pizza!

Not enough experienced wait staff especially for a Friday night. <br/>Garlic bread = grissini sticks olive oil, about one third of a cup of minced garlic and shaved parmesan. Not well thought out at all. Base flavours for the pizzas aren't very exciting and with the amount of topping you get it leaves them tasting mostly the same. For 18-25 a pizza it's disappointing.

Wow, this place is popular. I ordered the medtable lunch pizza for $10 and "The Burrow" juice, which seemed a little more expensive than other places at $6.50 but the freshly squeezed combo of apple, orange, carrot and ginger was delicious. The pizza was also fantastic - the main reason being the base. It was obviously freshly prepared and wonderfully thin, light and crisp around the edges. That's not to say there was anything wrong with the toppings. There wasn't. It was all so nice I could easily have had more. If I wasn't on my lunch break from work I would have washed it down with a beer as it looked like they had an interesting range on offer. I'll definitely be back.

Delish Pizza, Friendly and Hip Atmosphere. I decided to try The Burrow for the first time last night with some friends who also live in West End. We had both tried most of the "trendy" places in the area so I suggested the Burrow, having walked by it a few times and had been impressed by the look and feel of the place. Overall, all of us loved it and will definitely be going back. <br/><br/>First of all, it's a very unique space, being a standalone house on a leafy Mollison street, and having the majority of it open to the outdoors. One of our party commented that it had a cabin-like atmosphere with the natural wood tables and benches and the rustic lighting. It appears to have become a hipster hideout, and the staff are no exception, but the service was attentive and friendly. Our server was actually deaf but managed to take our orders without any trouble!<br/><br/>The best part was the pizza. I had the Hillbilly Chilly and my partner had The Ottoman. Both had deliciously light and thin crusts, with subtle and thoughtfully blended flavors. I would recommend either of them. The beer list is also impressive, with many nice IPAs that are so hard to find in Brisbane. <br/><br/>Loved The Burrow - I hope it's in West End to stay!
Emmy
Yum!. The pizza is so good - nice flavours but not overloaded with too many ingredients and flavours that are overpowering which a lot of pizzas in restaurants seem to be these days. The staff were friendly and the place looks nice - love the wood slab tables.
Annie
Loved it. Excellent pizza, lovely staff, cosy spot, great beer menu too. I will definitely be going back for dinner and I am looking forward to trying breakfast.

Hillbilly Chilly! what a great name for a pizza! i went here lunchtime around Easter. nice pizza .nice coffee .lovely staff. excellent refit. i'm going back here...deffo! i might just become s wegular wabbit at the Burrow.:)

Very nice. Excellent customer service! Pizza was also great. Love this place for cozy night out. We need more places like this in Brisbane.
AT
Has potential but service today a real let down. Loved the atmosphere and has potential to be really good but 70 minutes from arrival to wait to be served two coffees is simply unacceptable and had I not been with friends I would have left as I saw a number of people do, asking for their money back. Some absolute basics lacking. For example no set table numbers so you have inexperienced wait staff wandering around upstairs and downstairs with plates of eggs checking on numbers, bringing one coffee at a time upstairs as part of a two coffee order, no blackboard menu so people taking heaps of time to decide when they reached the counter and really really slow order taking. <br/><br/>The meals coming out looked yummy so I will definitely give them another go but today was a big disappointment for me in terms of service.
David Schulz
Sunday breakfast. Decided to give up our regular haunt and try something different. Coffee was good. Better than most in west end. Had bacon and eggs and also French toast. Both cooked nicely with great quality produce. Poached eggs just a little overlooked for my liking. Ie yolk soft but not runny, so order runny if that's how you like it. The rest was pretty much spot on - meals verging on the small side - a little more toast than the two slivers of Turkish would have been great.<br/><br/>Found service to be attentive and friendly. Will be back for sure.

Great pizza, but.... My wife and her parents joined us for dinner here during the week. I have to say the service is poor at best. It takes time to be greeted at the front door and there is no follow up from staff regarding food, drinks, coffee or dessert. If you don't want to be bothered by waiters, this place is for you.<br/><br/>The pizza is the best in Brisbane, a must is the Hillbilly chilli, it's amazing. <br/><br/>Apart from the service, the burrow is a restaurant i will be going back to.
Amelieamelie
Love this place. It has a great ambience and friendly, relaxed atmosphere. The warmth of the timber decor gives a homely feel yet it still feels modern and fresh. It is a very chilled place for breakfast. It isn't as busy then but the breakfast is great and the house blend coffee is one of the best in the area. They have another blend as well which I haven't tried. I will definitely be making frequent visits!

Balances out archive. If the archive was a restaurant/pub with an emphasis on craft beers, this would balance out the other end. during the first week they only had two taps on, however had a very good selection of bottled microbrew and international beers. the owners have done a great job fitting out the restaurant and it really suits the location in the neighborhood. i heard there were plans for expansions to an upstairs area and more outdoor space. <br/><br/>tried the salmon dance, but the hillbilly chilli was by far my favorite! there's a good and wide variety of bottled beers, but would look forward to seeing some more variety in flavour as time goes on--maybe it's just my taste. food and alcohol very reasonably priced for such a great spot and staff were fantastic.<br/><br/>love that this place is around the corner, will be back often!

An awesome restaurant located at West End ✔✔✔ Because.. WHO DOESN'T LOVE PIZZA?? Catch the City glider from George St/Cultural centre to go to West End. Awesome bunch of restaurants and cafes yet to try! Right in front of the bus stop. UMM OK We sat half inside/outside/ the cold wind LOL  We booked a last-minute reservation and we were seated near the corner. Not the best seat, but hey, we'll take it. The waitress was really nice ☺ We ordered " The Lox" pizza with smoked salmon, potato and rocket IT WAS GOOD. Nice. Delicious. Light.  All the pizzas were around $18-$24, reasonably priced. I wanted the rabbit meat one, but apparently they have a new menu

My social group Brisbane Social 20s and 30s had its June book club meeting at The Burrow in West End. I hadn’t been to The Burrow for over a year though I remember the food was very good.

My burger was juicy and tender with smokey bacon and a great sauce but the standout was the beetroot with its chunky pieces it was a refreshing change to standard canned beetroot you usually get on a burger.

The Burrow is one of my favourite breakfast haunts and is relatively new to my list. For lunch and dinner it is known for its innovative pizzas and craft beer and ciders. For breakfast, it is less about pizza but the innovation is definitely still

Their delicious dinner menu offers share plates, generous sized side dishes and over 20 unique, thin crust pizzas! Yum (oh and there’s a #vegetarian options).
Andrew
I would advise you eat the pizzas. The pizzas here are really well made. The crust is thin and the toppings are plentiful. The pizza names are clever, (Diana Ross, Big Voodoo Daddy, The Kracken) and there are some pretty unique taste combinations in the mix.

Ahh The Burrow, what can I say about this place? I must confess, I love coming here, the food is great, the atmosphere is great and the people are, yep you guessed it, great. As you enter the front you are greeted by warm wooden surroundings, the walls are covered in pages from comics of all sorts and the music is a mix of groovy, chill out tunes that makes you want to stay just that little bit longer. We arrived for our coffee at 8:30 am on Thursday, skipping the office blend we were certainly in need of a nice strong cup and we certainly weren’t disappointed. When the coffee came to the table it looked fantastic, a lovely coffee brown colouring of the crema with a nice free pour leaf on top. I’m a big believer that when a coffee arrives it should be at a drinkable temperature without needing to wait for it to cool down, in this case The Burrow got it spot on. The flavour was very strong but not overly bitter which in my opinion is a great coffee to start the day with, especially as i

The Burrow reminds me of Brisbane – set in a lovely rambling Queenslander in West End it is wooden floorboards, lovely breezes, friendly smiles and groups of friends catching up over casual meals and beer. We dropped in on a busy public holiday and joined the end of one of their long wooden tables. Alongside a few Brooklyn Lagers and soft drinks served in mason jars, we shared four pizzas between the five of us. We loved the Bad Motherfungi (mushrooms, mozzarella, Gorgonzola, pancetta, rocket), the Phoenix (chipotle chicken, roast capsicum, spicy jalapeño relish) and the Big Voodoo Daddy (pulled pork, jerk chicken, Cajun sausage, bourbon BBQ glaze). We also ordered the pictured Steven Seagull – a Napoli based pizza covered with mozzarella, aioli and hot chips. It was our least favourite but, who can resist chips and pizza together? 37 Mollison Street, West End

This place is all about the pizzas. Although I know many who are in love with their breakfasts too. It may go against every core value inside you but these pizzas can only be eaten with a knife and fork (or face a messy fight using your hands). You can forgive them though. These pizzas are damn tasty with really interesting twists. Great for groups and dates and everything inbetween. Heck, I’ve seen children here (they have a children’s menu!).

A Meyer lemon granita and dulce jalapeno verjus dressed our oysters and the combination gave my taste buds a tang-bang and I loved every second of it.

....I was surprised to find the usual outdoor seating area at the front of the restaurant walled off by wooden colored panes of glass (perfect to shield diners from the Brisbane chills). Last time I was seated outside and didn't have time to appreciate the decor of the inside. I loved the comic wallpaper and wooden seating that it provided - very rustic feel indeed.<br/><br/>We ordered a Moons of Neptune (seared scallop with cider braised pork belly, celeriac puree, apple jelly and fennel jam) and a Barbarossa pizza (Turkish style lamb, red onion, capsicum, mushroom, tabbouleh finished with yogurt dressing) plus a rekorderlig to share. The entree was sooo lovely! The scallops perfectly seared and the pork belly had just the right amount of fat (cf. the Alfred and Constance pork belly where after only one bite, i already felt sick). The apple jelly was a bit of a miss on the dish. I personally didn't feel like it belong. Beautiful on it's own but with scallop an

They do a good cappuccino - it doesn't make my tastebuds explode with delight, but it most certainly does the job. What they do make, however, is an absolutely heavenly iced coffee with ice-cream! We normally don't put ice-cream in our iced coffee in Norway, but this is a treat I most certainly can get used to. The Burrow offers cozy and relaxed seating upstairs, and I've spent quite a

Posted in Places by thebluemacaron One blue and yellow Saturday morning, where Mollison street meets Boundary street a magical treehouse awaits hungry guests. Step through the glass windows and let your eyes roll over the wooden pillars to see a dining level above, wooden chairs and tables adorn with colourful tin containers and salt-pepper shakers. As I waited for Pooch, I was approached several times by the friendly hosts concerned for my empty bench top.  It wasn’t long before my good friend bounced in. We started breakfast with a fragrant and strong cappucino, and a delicate soy chai latte sweetened with organic honey.  Next, Pooch ordered the Little Pig – tender cider-braised pork belly rested on a rich celeriac puree served with a sunny egg, sweet yet acidic poached pear and apple jelly, and finished off with a sprinkling of flowers. For me, The Far-Away Tree – let your teeth crack through the crisp bagel exterior only to reach the soft warm smoked tomato bread, enriched by the t

I got two take away coffees. The barista suggested that if I hadn’t tasted their coffee as yet I should have the house blend rather than the single-source Guatemalan that they had in stock. The latte was good, not very hot, and strong. Packed a real punch.    Aside from that, the baristas were both nice, it was a relaxing place to be and it looked like it had comfortable reg

We weren't too impressed with our choice on this breakfast cafe but had fun gathering and having breakfast together. Lotsa of fun anyways. I guess there won't be another visit for its breakfast. After all the price is not really affordable for us (students). It's at the range of 13 to 20 dollars for one dishes. <br/>

We’ve been to The Burrow many times and love the service, drinks selection and quality of food. Unfortunately, we found our food hit and miss tonight but will still be back again in the future :)
BrisVegasVego
On their lunch menu, there’s a pizza called the Stephen Seagull, which is Napoli base, mozzarella, topped with hot chips and aioli. It’s only available during lunch and, if you’re like me and enjoy both hot chips AND pizza equally, life changing. Order this pizza. Or lie and tell me you did.

Just as it seemed as if we were about to reach our limits of patience we finally had one of the 'cool' looking wait staff come over and apologise about the wait and that he had been trying to get over to us. Good to know in hindsight, but a little nod to say that we had been seen would have been appreciated! Without the yummy looking entrees available, we just decided to go for a pizza each and a side of chips with a Pilsner Beer

The Burrow is a little further up from the mega breakfast establishments of Three Monkeys and the Gunshop. Its that little wooden looking shop a few metres down that is always quite full. I've always wanted to go in there but there is one major turn off that my Boyfriend, JGirl, VGirl and a few other people have commented on. Its full of hipsters. God damn. I know its mainstream to hate on hipsters but the reason I don't like them in food places is because of their attitude. Little pretentious organic/vegan cafes, that served you expensive bad coffees, surly teen hipster serving staff that are too cool to give your their time and overly cool/weird/kooky decor. If they spent even half the time on their food as they did everything else, I suppose it would be approaching something even close to palatable. Blehhh. You know whats the worst thing though, everyone always goes to these hipster places. Everyone goes here! The Burrow is that kind of place. It has like 9 pages worth of fancy drin

When my 4th choice break breakfast meal arrived, no mushrooms. And no cutlery. By then I was in a shitty enough mood that I found it annoying that, when I got up and asked the waitress manning the desk / cutlery stand upstairs if I could grab some cutlery because we didn’t get any, she said she’d bring it right out instead of just letting me take the cutlery back with me.

...The Burrow<br/>from the outside it’s an inconspicuous little hide out …<br/>the only giveaway being the irresistibly cute bunny rabbit squashed under a rolling pin!<br/>and it’s just risen to the top of my favourite ‘hang out spots’<br/><br/>down with extreme nose allergy … so I shan’t rant too much today!

We both agreed this place is worth coming back for to try the other food! The menu style of food is similar to Pablo and Double Shot where the selection of the menu is a bit quirky, as in it's not typical traditional eggs and bacon sort of place! Definitely a good casual breakfasting location!

I was hoping they served all day breakfast today, but it was already lunchtime, so I had a chai latte with the Badger Badger Mushroom Mushroom pizza.  I didn't know badgers were mycophiles, but of course I had to choose the one with mushrooms!  The thin crust pizza had mushrooms, gorgonzola, pancetta (which looked more like bacon than pancetta), rocket, and parmesan on top.  The crust was thin and flaky, and not...

Feel at home in this small, house-like establishment. Contrary to its name, The Burrow is breezy with an open-plan design and is perfect for people-watching. Sit at a long, rough-cut wooden bench or pass the time reading the musings of strangers on the blackboard-painted walls. There’s also an upstairs section and courtyard out the back – both are pending their opening and promise to be a nice getaway from the busy street. The staff are chilled, chatty and friendly. Feel at ease with no in-your-face service and an informal attentiveness. Wait til the sun goes down and on come the candles for a cosy, cool, intimate setting.

...I've definitely enjoyed The Burrow much more in the past than my recent visits. Whilst I'd go back to The Burrow, I do wish they would rotate back some of their old menus (like the rabbit meat pizza) as it was certainly more enjoyable...

We settled on the "Don Juan" dish for myself, and the "Off With Your Head" selection for my friend. These were both interesting dishes. Firstly, both contained morcilla: a pork blood sausage combined with rice. The ones I were served had a slight spiciness to them, and the taste was rather easy to digest.

Packed to the brim, these pizzas are filled with all kinds different toppings that will have you stumped on what to order. My pick of the pizzas is the Aphrodite with prosciutto, gorgonzola, walnut, fig and spinach. Or you can always get a herd of hipsters to go with you and order one of everything.

The Burrow, located in West End, just around the surroundings of the ever-known Three Monkeys and Gunshop Cafe.. A place which you won't miss due to its design, on a queenslander which you would figure out once you enter but from the front, a wooden house, with trees at the sides.. The Burrow's lunch menu & drink menu I thought these were salt n pepper shakers, but they weren't.. Outside on the 2nd level patio seating Somewhat homey feel with all of the vintage books and knick knacks Comic strip covered wall 1st floor outdoor seating, no cover, chalk art What the entrance looks like.. The cashier and pastry glass display.. Now for the food and drinks.. We started off with just tap water and two of their iced drinks, Ice Latte ($5) and 'Homemade peppermint and earl grey iced tea with lemon and mint, pink grapefruit and ginger syrup' ($6). Though the Ice latte was just so-so, the Homemade Iced tea was quite different. The combination of the grapefruit and the ginger syrup surprisingly bl

Their menu is pretty amazing with quite a variety as you can see from our orders and the best part is that it’s not what you normally see in other cafes. They also change their menu from time to time, this review is a little backdated. And they do have very creative and cute names for their food. Their price are decent, it’s value for money!

Back to the flavours now: the pork belly was braised beautifully and I like the celeriac puree. However, I think the sweetness from the poached pear have overpowered the pork belly.

...went all out with the ‘Breakfast Almighty’. This mammoth breakfast has free range organic eggs (poached, scrambled or fried), turkish bread, honey glazed bacon, beer baked beans, mushroom, roast tomato and spinach. The SO complained the eggs were tasteless and he would’ve loved more mushrooms, but the champion of the plate were the baked beans.

We rocked up around nine-thirty in the morning and the two-storey establishment was jam packed. Luckily we found a table by the door which provided me with a panoramic view of this place. In addition to the awesome décor, this place’s offers a great vibe and welcoming service. Our breakfast, Eggs Benedict on sourdough with spinach, hollandaise sauce and smoked salmon ($15.00) and English style savoury mince with poached egg and sourdough ($13.00) arrived at our table at a surprisingly fast speed given how busy the restaurant was. Both were tasty, although the savoury mince had a little too much sweetness to it. I found the portions really generous for what you pay for. It’s so rare that you can get a plate of wholesome breakfast for $13.00 at a good café these days.

We really enjoyed breakfast at The Burrow - while prices were not cheap, it is around the price point expected for good quality breakfast pretty much at most places these days. The Burrow is also open for lunch and dinner service and we will definitely be back to try out more dishes from their lunch and dinner menus very soon!
Brisbane Devoured
The Burrow has a very impressive craft beer list and a huge cider list on offer as well. The menu lists each bottle in its beer category with a little blurb written describing each category. The beer list and communal tables means this place is clearly ideal to come with a large group sharing a relaxing dinner with a few drinks.

The Burrow is in the old spot of the Ottomon (Turkish food) restaurant, a few steps up for the Gunshop Cafe and diagonally across from Three Monkeys. On walking in, it seemed pretty bohemian with Spanish/mexican music playing, long wooden shared tables and also smaller round tables scattered about. There was an upstairs area, but I didn’t see it. It was pretty much a seat yourself affair and orders at the counter.

These aren't the simple and sparse Italian-style pizzas that I normally favour. They're hearty and moreish and perfectly suited to eat with alcoholic drinks. These pizzas were Marc's dream dinner. It's not that I didn't enjoy them (I very much did) but even now, 3 months on from this meal, Marc still keenly suggests we return to The Burrow for another pizza night. I can imagine if I wasn't a food blogger and I actually ate at the same place more than once, we'd go there quite regularly. There's a decent selection of pizzas and other goodies so it's easy to try something new every time.

Yesterday we went to  The Burrow  for breakfast, it was early in the morning at around 8am and there were only 2-3 tables in the restaurant, we were a bit surprised because apparently this is one of the  “top breakfast”  spot in Brisbane (?). Their menu is rather interesting:  Alice – pistachio nougatine bread and butter pudding,  Dharma Sunrise  – scrambled tofu and julienned vegies,  Little Pig Little Pig  - cider braised porkbelly etc etc. I guess we are a bit old school so these funky menu didn’t quite suit us, we decided to order a  Wakey Wakey Eggs N Bacie  and a coffee before our next move… We chose the house blend “ Burrow Blend”  for our coffee, it’s a 100% organic and fair trade bean (from Indonesia, Nicaragua, Ethiopia, Peru and East Timor) with strong dark chocolate, orange liqueur and rum flavours. The breakfast  Wakey Wakey Eggs N Bacie  is scrambled free range eggs with black forest bacon on a sunflower rye toast. It’s really really just average and a bit bland. I think
