As far as pub food goes this place is quite posh. They are always open to feedback and menu changes. Parking out back. Pretty popular with the hospital staff.
Brewhouse is surprising find. By the title alone you're expecting beer and steak. But what you find is an extensive menu with plenty of intriguing options. We particularly like that you can choose your own sides when ordering their standard mains or steaks. Our only silly gripe is they are a little overzealous with dressing their plates. We don't need five edible flowers Chef 😉 Our fave dishes? The Angus Sirloin with haloumi skewers and any of the Seasonal Mains.
Top notch. Dined here lastnight and had a beef burger with cheese, jalapeños andhot sauce- simple but perfect. The patty was like an inch thick and cooked perfect med-rare, covered in jalapeños. As a chilli lover this was heaven. Staff were efficient, knowledgable about the beers and kindly let me order chilli jam on the side with my chips. Best chilli jam around and I have about 5 various ones in the fridge at home. Their sunset ale is really nice and easy drinking for anyone, they also had some visiting taps with high % at amazing prices, best I have seen anywhere. The venue has a bar section, cozy lounge section, dining hall with tables and booths and there's an outside area too. All around great experience and as a craft beer and burger lover I wish I had found it sooner!
Recently has to spend a week in hospital and this place over the road was a god send.Â
Not only does it do take-aways and growlers it has some seriosly good beers on tap. Whoever is selecting their beer range is doing well.
The food was a let down so dropping one star off.
I have visited South Brisbane many times and often walked past this brewery hotel on the way to other restaurants and decided to have a closer look at the menu. The menu overall looked quite interesting and I was pleasantly surprised to notice not one, but two sides are provided free with your main meal.
So I decided to go and didn't make a reservation. When we arrived the restaurant area was fully booked with people waiting for tables, and we were advised that we could sit outside if there was any free tables there. Very helpful and courteous service so far - a good sign - and luckily there was a free table on the footpath in an area where no smoking was allowed, thankfully.
A side note - there is a covered in area outside the restaurant which allows smoking. That was one reason I have been put off coming to the Brewhouse; seems peculiar.
We ordered our meal and drinks and the service was very good, with the "beer flight" sampler explained. The sampler was excellent with some really interesting craft beers and really well priced at $10 for four samples.
Our starter arrived fairly promptly and was quite tasty. The main meals were also very, very good - lamb rump and chilli brisket. For a predominantly beer pub, a reasonable selection of bottled wines were available and at pretty reasonable prices too.
So a very enjoyable evening was had. Summarising - an excellent menu which will entice me back, very good service, great quality food and wide ranging and fairly priced drinks menu. Well done Brewhouse Brisbane.
We visited the Brewhouse on a Tuesday evening for a family celebration – four adults and two children (aged 7 and 4). We were given the option of sitting in the main restaurant section or the adjacent lounge area, which we chose.
Our waiter was friendly, attentive and understood the menu well, making great recommendations to suit our tastes. As it was our first visit, she took the time to explain the impressive choices on offer and the mix’n’match sides. This is not your average pub fare! Yes, there are beautifully cooked steaks and a chicken parmy on offer, but you can pair these (or a wide array of other unique choices) with your choice of sides like haloumi skewers, maple bacon popcorn, fries and fresh salads. I chose the chicken parmy with sweet potato fries and a salad of fresh beets, pumpkin, greens and feta. The chicken was cooked to perfection – juicy and well-seasoned; and the salad was spectacular. My family also thoroughly enjoyed their steaks, ribs and pork, all cooked to order. My dad is still raving about the ribs – true Texan style with the dry rub. Even better than found in Texas!
And well done Brewhouse on a fantastic kids menu – no nasty nuggets or frozen food in sight!! My children loved their tender calamari strips and fresh chips, and a salad designed with kids in mind.
I wish we had room for the dessert menu, but with such generous mains and birthday cake waiting at home, we decided to sample the desserts next time.
We chose a lovely Spanish Tempranillo to have with our dinner.Â
The Brewhouse is beautifully appointed and the owners have done a fantastic job during the recent renovations.
This Brewhouse is a gem, we will definitely be back! Well done Brewhouse.
We went for Saturday lunch. Beer on tap all superb. Knowing they brew themselves, adds to the experience and the ambience. The food is as you would expect and generally seems to be good value. We had the Roast Lamb and it's obviously slow cooked. Good value.
Love the beer selection, food and helpful staff. The new decor looks great especially the outdoor area. It's always our first choice for a drink out with mates.
Love the renovations and epic beer collection. Last time we were in was post German club/October fest. My super chicken burger so was delicious. The brioche bun was the icing on the cake to a delicious pub burger. It was huge, I ended up sharing and was the perfect accompaniment to the beers we had.
I had a meal here recently with family and it was our first time there since the renovations and new Al Fresco garden setting was added. Â It is now a bit of an oasis, really nice in such a busy location. Â Love the fish pond, nice touch. Â Our meals were very good and with generous portions too. Â Even the house wine was good quality! Â I was impressed and will return!
Went for Sunday lunch and really enjoyed the new setting, it was great for a relaxed lunch with a excellent atmosphere. The menu has also had a make over and it's great. For a table of 6 everyone loved there meal. All beautifully presented with excellent flavours. Even the risotto (normally a risk) was wonderful. Don't go expecting regular pubs meals, but rather high restaurant quality. Only concern is the "smoking" area isn't entirely separate from the dining area but apparently that is changing.
Missed the gathering with other Zomato foodies recently, however I attempted to explore the new menu last Saturday. Obviously, the face-lifted of the venue and the spectacular range of food offering on the menu show-case the passions from the management and the working team.
Chose the starter of Black Mussels and Bruschetta with beef brisket. The former deserved thumb-up in terms of taste and quantity and the latter was a surprise in portion again (as a starter, they really were too big), beef brisket was cooked well and melted in the mouth (if they used the way like a pulled-pork and reduce the size of bruschetta then it will be perfect). Honestly, it was the first time that I had meals with matching beers (the waitress' suggestion on the matching beer shows her expertise), the varieties of beers that Brewhouse offering is really a selling point.
The mains that we chose were the drunk chicken and the Wagyu Sirloin. Well, the theme was quite matching with this restaurant that the chicken was marinated with beer and I purposefully chose to have the Beer Mustard as the sauce to accompany with the Wagyu. Needless to say, portion of the chicken dish was far too big as expected, however, it they changed to use Spatchcock instead of chicken, the texture would definitely gain marks.
Hero of the night should be my main of Wagyu MS 9+, which was done perfectly med-rare, the texture was so soft and the taste of steak was so strong. This wagyu is definitely the top three steaks that I like the most in Brisbane as compared with the Dry Age from Morrision Hotel and the Jack Creek Striploin Marbling 12+ at Cha Cha Cha. Of course the best so far that I had should be the Wagyu at Waku Ghin at Marina Bay Sand in Singapore early this year, however, for the price of under $70, this Wagyu MS 9+ is a bargain and deserves extra mark for the review.
Overall, I have to say "Congratulations" to the management, you do have a very successful face-lifted, I will expect that there will be more foodies rushing to try your menu.....
Last Thursday, Espresso and Matcha and some enthusiastic foodies were invited to Woolloonggabba’s revamped Brewhouse, which has long been an icon in the area since its first opening in 2005 and is famous for its freshly brewed beer, made locally at West End. . There we were treated to some of the highlights of their new menu matched with some of their infamous beers. The menu we were offered was a four course selection featuring an entrée, a starter, a main and a dessert. It should be noted we were served via alternate drop. Luckily for me I was able to bring my co-blogger and which ensured we were able to sample all the courses. However I must confess our arrangement was not ideal as it meant we could not fully enjoy the dishes we were offered.
Meatballs And Beef Cheeks
+4
Brewhouse Brisbane has undergone a much needed renovation and they did a great job. The decor looks good, they have 16 beers on tap and the menu has been revamped - think brewhouse/gastropub.
Enjoyed a Boatrocker Single (Belgian-style ale), Chicken Karaage and Beer Battered Fries. Only complaint is that they don't keep any tomato sauce/ketchup in the restaurant. Wouldn't hesitate to return.
This place has gone up a few notches since the renovation but if you're a beer nut they have special beer and food events which match a brewery to the chefs selection. And whoever did their beer garden should win an award - a kind of industrial garden thing going but it works really well.
Visited the Brewhouse today for lunch to find the brand new renovation is open and folks it is simply stunning. It has set a new standard in not only the Gabba but South Brisbane. You will not be disappointed. Great range of beers. Very good food and friendly hosts.
Awesome pub, great food, friendly staff & awesome beers. Definitely recommend heading there. Plenty of options to choose from & nice, relaxed atmosphere. My personal favourite is the chicken schnitzel. A huge variety of craft beer on tap and in the bottle, including their own craft brews. Will be back for sure.
came here on a Tuesday night where they are having the buy one get one free (or buy two pay one) dinner menu, so we grabbed the rump for two. You can also grab dessert with the same deal too...but we didn't cause it was pretty big already. Guess service for us was fine cause is a weekday, not too many customers around.Â
You surely wouldn't expect the best steak ever in here so is a standard meal in a bar. And recommending to seat outside. =p
I've been here 3 times now and every time it gets better. I've never come across a rude or unhappy person in this place! One of your chefs recommended a beer to go with my hoagie and he hit the nail on the head. Best place for a fellow Hospo head to sit and relax after work. You'll see me a lot more! Thank you BrewHouse!
Thumbs Up.. I was at a 30th the other night at Brewhouse, and all I have to say the staff are awesome! Everytime I've been in there the service has been friendly and helpful. I had some dietary needs (vegan... Yes I know), and I didn't call up beforehand and notify them of this, working in hospitality myself I know this can be a pain in the ass so I just wanted to say sorry but thank you to the chefs for creating something on the spot which was delicious. Beers are fantastic too with their wide selection of bottles and several taps available. I'll be coming back again and again... Keep it up!
Had the chicken parma with bad boy fries and coleslaw. Hands down the best parma ever! Thick chicken cooked well with a good crust, thick fries/ wedges seasoned with moorish mild spice mixture and cracking take on your usually boring coleslaw. Great beer menu aswell!
What a great night with friend ! Amazing food, great prices, great environment and fantastic staff . I highly rate and recommend! 10/10 I suggest all visit and have no doubt you will not be disappointed ! I will be back with out doubt :) thanks :)
Was a nice dinner. Food was good, service was acceptable and everything came out really fast. However I don't like that they change their menu for 2 for 1 on Tuesday! I was so excited because they're regular menu looked amazing and even though the menu they have for "twosday" was nice it wasnt amazing. Also it's a pub more than anything so their website is alittle deceiving. But all in all I would definitely eat here again and would recommend it :) the pistachio ice cream that comes with the sticky date and bread and butter pudding is DELICIOUS!
SUnday lunch roast. I had been here before for a beer tour and found the food and drinks to be fantastic, so when an uncle invited us here for Sunday lunch was only too happy to accept. While overall the deal is ok the meal itself did resemble an average RSL spread. Overall it was OK and at least dessert was highlite to finish meal with. The menu otherwise looks really good and next time will order from there and not the meal deal.
Great experience. Food was great, service exceptional, will attend again. Brendan Ritson
Home to the best Arsenal supporter's club in Australia. Also really good beers and great steak.
Great. Food was amazing! Thankyou for the great experience
Been here a couple of times lately, the lunch special 15 dollar steak is incredible, really good steak and you get a free pot of craft beer, so came back for dinner and had the homemade pie, was excellent aswel, the food here is good quality with a generous serve. It's good to find a decent bar, they are becoming fewer these days, also have a good range of craft beers plus a few commercial brews to cater to everyone's tastes, will be coming here more often
Had the 200g eye fillet cooked medium rare with chips and salad, was bloody delicious and cooked perfect the meat was so soft and the lady taking my order was very helpful.
Goat cheese salad for my girl, 400gm rump for me and we shared a bruschetta plate $58...we were here for the Sunday roast special but were told it was sold out (we arrived about 630pm so it's not like we were late). Was a lovely meal, almost the $$$ but was a pleasurable experience, staff are nice, disappointed the roast was unavailable.
Good lunch specials. Great lunch specials. Well prepared pub grub that tastes good. Thumbs way up!
Awesome Cheap Tuesdays!. My friend and I came in for the 2 for 1 meals on a tues night, there was about 12 dishes you could choose from. I had the ale, steak and mushroom pie with chips and salad. There was nothing I could complain about! The serving was large, real pieces of steak (very tender), pastry was crisp (photo doesn’t quite do it justice). My friend had the tempura whiting with Asian-style dressing. She found the salad dressing was a bit oily & tasteless but the fish was good.
Overall not too shabby for $10 each!
Definitely will come again.
Excellent meal. Was staying nearby for the cricket and was more than pleasantly surprised at the quality of the meals. Tasty, tender steak and a tasting platter with a sensational variety of flavours. Highly recommend for local and tourists alike. Also, as mentioned the boutique beers are very good. My partner particularly liked the BPA. (Long Island Ice Tea wasn't shabby either)
Good Beer and Food. Visited with a group of 10 for lunch on a Saturday. All the meals were decent sized, reasonably priced and there was not one complaint from our table. However - other than the good food - the most interesting thing here was the beer and beans.
The beer tasting paddle is a must (no small mouthful-size samples here - 6x almost-full-pots of each of their beers). The 5 house beers they had on tap were all very drinkable, without being outstanding, with the BPA being my favorite. The (temperature) hot and salty bean/chickpea bar snack sounds weird but tasted totally delicious and should not be missed.
Great Local Brew!. Having found this place on Albert Street shortly after moving to Brisbane, it quickly became my "local". The Food & Beer was quite good. I enjoyed their Engine Pale, Schwarzbeir, and Scottish ales. It was a sad day when it closed in 2008.
Since their re- opening at Clarence Corner, I've again been a semi-regular. Albert Street its not, with a completely different vibe that isn't always quite to my liking, it still serves up some of the best brew! With a new brewer, their beer has changed some, but that's ok. they qre quality. They have various food specials through the week, but my fav has to be the pizza & jug deal on Wednesday nights. And if you're looking for a deal, then the 'two fer' Tuesdays are a good deal.
A short walk from the Mater Busway station, its easily accessible, and is well worth a visit!
Looking forward to try this place again soon now that it has been revamped! :o
19/09/2013:
BBQ Ribs. For $22 you get a full rack of bbq'd ribs topped in a light smokey sauce. You also get a generous serve of deluxe coleslaw and a batch of chat potatoes. Value = quite good.
Its a pretty pleasant to have a drink and food in the evening, good atmosphere and not too noisy. However kitchen closes wait too early i can never grab a dessert and i love desserts. Chalk kitchen close at 9pm its better. Anyway pretty cool place with a nice patio
Come for the beer, stay for the food.. Brewhouse in the CBD was one of our favourite places before it closed down. A couple of years later they are back and have taken over the 'Clarence Corner Hotel'.
Unfortunately the place still isn't on par with it's previous location, but the food and beer are still well worth a visit. Still one of my favourite pubs in Brisbane thanks to the awesome food and unique beers !!
The special menu may be a bit more restricted than their usual offerings but there are plenty of good options on there. Be it fish, steak or chicken parmy, most pub classics are represented. I went for the lamb roast and Marc chose the chicken parmigiana. I felt hungry and impatient enough to suggest we order some bread starters but Marc refused. It was a good thing too because our mains turned out to be massive.
The craft beers were amazing! I had the milk stout and Brisbane pale ale. Both are as good as they get! The ambience was so nice too!
This place gets 5 stars from me for their gravy alone. The burger and chips were really good too lol BUT It was literally the best gravy I have ever had at a restaurant!!
The staff here are amazing and so accommodating and it's a nice sized venue and clean. Definitely recommend
10/10 pork roast dinner. Tender meat, crispy crackling, crunchy Yorkshire pud, tasty veg and that gravy! The gravy! Side of cheese curds optional (so yum). I've had a few roasts in this trip and this one stood out by far.
Had an awesome steak lunch!! Steak cooked perfectly , salad was fresh and delicious.
Staff were friendly and helpful. Definitely would recommend to anyone :)
Very friendly staff, the platters were delicious and the beer was ice cold. I was pleasantly surprised
Great place to go for our men's lunch. Seven of us enjoyed the roast and steak pies with a few fine beers. Staff very friendly and helpful. Easy to get too on public transport. Big outside area which we used in this slightly troubling COVID times.
Really comfortable pub setup but just excellent food and drink selection. Bar staff were lovely and really good for food and drink tips
