Review Osteria Epoca - Brisbane

Hidden delight with delicious, authentic Italian cuisine. We all enjoyed our chosen meal, each of which was very different. Dessert and coffee also amazing. Service was wonderful. Such patience and kindness was shown to my elderly mother. We will definitely go again.

Want to feel like you're in Italy? Go here. Food, service, atmosphere is all top notch. We have already planned our next dinner here! A great local spot, perfect for a catch up with friends and family or a romantic meal for two. Highly recommend, so happy we found this place.

It’s my first time here and had heard some wonderful things about the food, the vibe and the staff - happy to day it’s all true and the food was very yummy!😋 . On this occasion we ordered: • Prosciutto & Rucola Pizza - Whole peeled tomatoes, fior di latte mozzarella, prosciutto di Parma, wild rocket • Funghi & Tartufo Pizza - Fior di latte mozzarella, mushrooms, truffle paste • Spaghetti alla Chitarra - Served with asparagus and pancetta in a Saffron sauce • Local caught swordfish with asparagus and truffled cauliflower cream • Tagliatelle e gamberi - House made Tagliatelle with Mooloolaba King prawn • Chocolate Cannolis 🤤 . The pizzas were a great start to the meals. The crust was great - not too thin or thick with a slightly charred edge on certain bits. The Mushroom one was a definite table favourite and the prosciutto was equally just as good for me tooo 😍 . The King Prawn pasta was really really good. Loads of prawns mixed into it plus the king prawns on top 👌🏻👌🏻 . The spaghetti in saffron sauce was divine! The pancetta seasoned the pasta well with flavour and wasn’t too salty! Totally loved it! 🤤 . Aaaaaand the cannoli was just made! Freshly made with that awesome chocolate filling! Perfect way to finish off an amazing feed

It’s a cosy backstreet suburban bistro Osteria is the Italian word for not quite so fancy but good value restaurant They have four categories of restaurants in Italy They would never call a MacDonald s a restaurant in Italy Food is good quality and service is with a smile Even though I SM familiar with Yerongas street s I always need my Navman ( stat navigation instrument)to find it as it’s at the bottom of windy street s near the Brisbane Corso Booking is recommended as they are very popular with the local s

This is a quaint suburban restaurant in a beautiful suburb of Yeronga. We went on Sunday night and there was a AYC eat pizza and pasta night. Staff were wonderful and very accommodating. Will return to try other dishes. And their drinks.

Such beautiful food, both our meals were absolutely spot on, the staff are friendly and display excellent service. The venue is a mixed between a romantic, family friendly and unpretentious atmosphere. A great hidden gem in the suburbs. It was a great price and the waiters were very attentive and professional. There’s even a pretty decked outdoor area. We will 100% be back!

We were greeted warmly, and seated promptly with menus. Our drink orders were taken soon afterwards, and food orders were taken once the drinks arrived. A wonderfully curated lunch menu, with friendly and helpful service. Staff went above and beyond to accommodate our requests. The food was delicious and incredibly fresh. A perfect place for a spot of Sunday lunch. Lovely ambience, great service and the food is always excellent.

Still the best for me. They have reduced the menu and hence vegetarian and vegan choices have reduced, but the chef does make an exception. Excellent pizzas, great atmosphere, friendly staff and some great desserts too. Nestled in the suburb this place is a stand out Italian restaurant. Great for gatherings with friends and family. The best part for me is a place designed for relaxed dining and good conversations.

I recently held my baby shower at Osteria Epoca on a Saturday afternoon. It couldn't have been more perfect. The food was exceptional (as it always is) and the space was the perfect size for 35 guests. The dessert in particular was unbeatable. All of my guests have been raving about it ever since. We had easy access to the bar for drinks and the option to spill outside was also awesome. Lorenzo allowed us to bring our own decorations and styling so we could dress the space as we wanted which was perfect. I can't recommend Osteria Epoca highly enough.

This place is now my favourite for delicious and real authentic Italian dishes!! I absolutely love the ambience and the warmth and friendliness of the staff. Highly recommend this place and I cannot wait to visit again!

Loved our dining experience last night. The gamberi antipasti as a starter was flavoursome & the prawns cooked perfectly. For main the crumbed veal cutlet dish was deliciously moist & such a generous size, and the slow roasted goat was heaven itself. Will be back for more of this for sure. Oh..and the rest of the great wine list selection! 👌🏼

The food, the service and the atmosphere is 12/10! We go here almost daily and are always welcomed by happy, smiling staff that are more like friends. It is by far the best restaurant in Yeronga and has made our community complete!

I've known Lorenzo for a few years now, our company had Xmas dinner at his previous restaurant and everything was amazing! His new venture is even better! I had my birthday dinner there and regardless of them being basically full, the level of service and quality of the food were exemplary. We never had any problems or issues. We will be back and will bring more friends. You should come here asap!

Each time we have visited, Lorenzo and his crew have been welcoming and friendly. Last night we dropped in and even though Epoca was already full and super busy with a function, they couldn't do enough to accomodate us and our special requests :) thanks! Yum yum yum ...

If I was to ever open my own restaurant, it would be very similar to Osteria Epoca (just maybe French instead of Italian). The focus is on the food without all the arrogance of some more upmarket restaurants in the Brisbane area. Lunch on Saturday was a beautiful shared platter of cured meats and pickles and this morning for breakfast, I had the sauteed mushrooms and my partner had the Italian sausages. Very generous portions. The danger for me is the deli section with all the wonderful goodies for sell. Dinner is next on the list. Well done!

I moved here from Italy 4 years ago and I would have never thought I would have found the true flavours of my childhood in this restaurant: BUONISSIMO!

Truely a great little personal restaurant in the burbs. Owner and head chef Lorenzo is putting his creativity on a plate. Do yourself a favour & make your way to Osteria Epoca for a great evening & sensational food!

We went for lunch and all three of us were impressed with the excellent quality of the food, service and location - one of the best suburban eateries I've come across. Definitely a keeper.

First time at this cafe, it had wonderful food and the staff were great. Coffee was excellent but the smoothie needed to be colder (that is a minor thing and the only criticism I have)

Great atmosphere, friendly staff and amazing food. Loved the flourless chocolate cake with stout ice-cream. Compliments to the Chef.

What a amazing place and great food by one of brisbane best chefs :)

What an incredible experience. Lorenzo, you are a talented man, but you have outdone yourself. What a beautiful restaurant, where the care and attention to detail shines across every part of the experience. And let's not forget the food... just wow!!! The generous servings, the intricate flavors, the value for money. It's been a long time since I've been this impressed, hence the glowing review. A truly deserved five stars, I can't wait to come back.

Had a great lunch here a few days ago. The staff is super and the atmosphere is cozy. Very good service. I'll be back! :)

Good service and ambiance. Food was good without being spectacular. Will go back and try other menu items.

Our return from the Italian trip in April, makes us craving for a nice Italian dinner last week so arranged to re-visit this local gem because the last visit was so impressive.
Went there in a group of three and aimed to have the yummy Veal tongue but it was off the new menu so changed to order : a pizza with salmi & sausage, risotto con salsicce e chianti (risotto), Pesce del giorno (fish) and Zuppa di cozze al Pomodoro (mussels).
We always appreciate the authenticity on the dishes here. Honestly, we cannot tell the difference between what are served here or in Italy. Pizza Is full of ingredients and plenty of cheese, risotto just perfectly cooked rice, mussels are full with rich flavour of tomatoes and the daily special barramundi was just perfectly done with golden brown skin. Although we missed the veal tongue, this new exploration is not bad at all! 

Dec 2018 Rating 5/5
It was last mid-June that we had the unforgettable dining experience from this local gem. In fact, I meant to explore it since last year and eventually arranged the time to do it. Arrived punctually on 6:30pm and the restaurant was full house. We are the only Chinese on that night and not surprisingly being looked after by the friendly waiters more often. Ordered the Grilled Eggplant and Salami as the entrée and Veal tongue, Ravioli, Linguini for mains. The eggplant was tasteful and the salami brought us the Italian theme of the night. Portion of the veal tongue is so large and the texture is very tender. Ravioli with pork cheek is silky and the linguini with squid ink and the large king prawn filled up our stomach so much that we cannot even attempt to share an order of dessert. Look! This restaurant is highly recommended.

This is my favourite place in all of Brissie. Extremely authentic Italian food - way past the 'pizza and pasta' scene. The freshest ingredients and wonderful ambience. Perfect service, attentive but relaxed and every now and then the owner Lorenzo drops by for a chat every now and then.

Hint: It's BYO Wednesday and Thursdays :)

Love Osteria Epoca. Its hidden away, but definitely worth seeking out. Fantastic italian food and friendly staff. Have been quite a few times and have never had anything but delicious food.

I've been here twice. Once for dinner, once for coffee and cake (takeaway). Both times the food has been delicious and of high quality. Great place for dinner or a morning start. Oozes Italian authenticity.

Went for lunch and had baby octopus and the black linguini with prawns. Delicious! Really enjoyable food with excellent presentation and friendly service.

Good pasta with good selection of wine. Had mushroom pasta that was cooked in perfection. My boyfriend had a veal that was ok, a bit tough.good portion of food.

I had lots of recommendations for this place and couldn’t wait to try it out. There’s a bar section to the side and an outdoor dining space at the back, which is where we were seated. I liked the look of a lot of the antipasti dishes and over-ordered. I particularly liked the zucchini and ricotta bruschetta for being different to your usual tomato variety. The starters were great but we were almost too full for mains; a shame since the mains were also delicious. I tried the braised duck pappardelle while Leo chose the cured pork cheek ravioli. The ravioli was a stand out for me. We also had garlic bread on the side, which was unique in that you can spread the roasted garlic on your bread to your liking. The olive oil that came with the garlic bread option was divine. Can’t wait to go back!

Made an online reservation for Friday night dinner. We were promptly seated in the back outdoors courtyard and were given menus.

For drinks, we ordered the Violetta (gin, rhubarb and ginger) and Tramonto martini - both very good and refreshing cocktails.

For entrees, we tried the Veal tongues - plentiful, soft and delicious; followed by the ravioli - wafer-thin pasta, the fillings were bursting with flavour.
For mains, we had the Agnello (lamb) - perfectly cooked and hearty, and the Veal saltimbocca - the sauce was unfortunately a little too salty, but well-cooked.

The portions were very reasonable (for two hungry adults) - we had to takeaway part of our main meals. Reasonable prices. Smart-casual ambience. Service was efficient and friendly.

Overall, a solid Italian restaurant with hearty meals that are big on flavour.

TL;DR: This is one hell of a find for a number of reasons. Getting the most important aspect about it out of the way, the food is quite possibly second-to-none within the area, and goes just as much for taste as it does the quality of the fare given. On top of all of that, it is hard to believe it but this is an inner city place that happens to find itself smack in the middle of the eastern suburbs and in saying this is an inner city place, Osteria Epoca could well mix with the best of them, coming out quite strong and solid.

Like taking a key part of what Italian dining is, whomever designed Osteria Epoca has found the link often overlooked by many of the great locations for Italian dining that is ever apparent in the country itself. That is the aspect of it being down to the setting, and that is a rustic homeliness that is easy to spot, tricky to design, but ultimately rewarding. This is being said, since it could be any corner store or coffee bar along a suburban street, but hiding right inside here is a gem

Possibly by coincidence and whatnot, the plan for coming here was right the weekend after the last one was an Italian place for breakfast. From my house mate/dining buddy merely reading the menu, he knew that this was the place to try out; it hit many of the check points such as being relatively local, that it was open for breakfast, and that it ultimately looked like a good place. So on the Sunday morning, it was to another awakening that it was heading off to here for a spot of breakfast.

From the get-go, the expectations that I had for this place were pretty good - though often most places I go in wit the best intentions and goodwill, so that might not be saying much right there. However, with it being right in the middle of the Eastern suburbs, and along an otherwise kind of plain stretch of road, from the first glance to walking all the way back into the courtyard out the back it was one of the most amazing finds yet this year, and it not only sits well with some of the best Italian around town, it could well have been within the suburbia (or the equivalent over there) of an Italian town. The lovely aesthetics aside, all of it comes to a head with the food. The fact that I just said it sits well with some of the best Italian around town should be indicative of that.

The whole design of the place is something to adore. It is a pretty big place, taking up at least three different shop fronts, and in combining them together, each part has its slightly different characteristics which in the end melds together to have a welcoming and homely aesthetic. The entrance part is very much like the local corner store (this part doubles as a bit of a delicatessen; you can find a range of delicacies right here to buy over the counter), and the touch of a coffee machine facing the sidewalk shows good planning and attention to detail. Going further in, the design is lush on the inside going for a bit of romance, and right out the back, it is like a hidden gem. The greenery gives it a fresh and cool atmosphere, plus it is pretty nifty if you don't mind being within the nitty-gritty of the outer area of the kitchen - in which more kudos is given here, since it was spotless from the views of the swinging door - there is something charming about the more gritty aesthetic here. Overall, a few different styles that are characteristically Italian sum up its appeal succinctly.

Matching up to the immaculate design of the place is the service. And you are in for some good service here. It is at a fairly small level on the quantity and abundance aspects, however in between those times they manage to balance it out well, time it precisely, and through that it is able to be balance out between the many clients that they will inevitably get throughout the day. From the moment that you step in the door, you are welcomed with open arms. Next, they ask you if you want inside or outside - my dining buddy went with outside. Normally, what would happen would be to go on the pavement out the front - but we were directed to the back with the courtyard, and this is the aspect which changed the perception entirely - went from a pretty good Italian place, to the aforementioned analogy at the beginning.

And all of this is tied together with the food, which is Italian all the way. Plus, for the most part, it is reasonable in price. Starting off it has a modest selection of items for breakfast, going with a mixture of hot and continental. The next lot of sections on the menu are different kinds of tapas including salumi, and matinari - small plates served with bread, plus aperitivo, and in a similar fashion there is several bits of antipasti.

At lunch time, the options are still small in selection with a few kinds of pasta, some salads, and paninis. But it all is brought right home when it comes to dinner time. Still keeping it fairly modest, just giving it a read indicates that then is their time to shine. The menu reads like a proper Italian meal, going from antipasti, to primi and ending off with secondi; that is not to mention the big cabinet they have that is full of different kinds of sweets and such. There is good, solid selection of pastas, and the main courses are substantial and meaty, plus they can be added to with the sides. But if it is all too hard deciding what to have, than the banquets to share are the go for four or more people.

And at last, there is the drinks. At breakfast time it is normally the teas and coffees, plus some juices, and for the rest of the day, they have various wines, beers, cocktails, vodkas, and Italian sodas among many others. The selection is extensive, and you are in good hands right here whatever the case.

Well, it is breakfast time so the first step is well known by now - no matter what the place. That is none other than getting the drinks, and by that it is the coffees as always. For two big reasons, it had to start out on a good note with the coffee. The first being obvious that it is an Italian place, and the second one is that the coffee is courtesy of Veneziano - which more often than not manage to produce a good cup of coffee. Any kind of worry that might have been implied there can be safely laid to rest.

This came to be another place where I was pretty certain what I was going to order before I even walked in the door. As always, I give the possibly of a tempting special being out there or the menu changing between times, but this time around it all went down well. Albeit the variety might have been tweaked with what was read online to what was there, but the important factor is that they had the breakfast gnocchi as an option. This was mixed with panceta, pecerino cheese, and kale with a poached egg on top. Asking for that poached soft was the necessary and recommended touch, as the yolk contributed to the sauce, making it tad richer.

The gnocchi itself was plump and delicious. It was cooked to a good consistency, where it was getting soft but still had a nice chew to it, and the texture allowed the sauce to stick to it. Additionally, the amount of pancetta in the sauce was generous, and it had flavour that was both smoky and salty, mixed well with the sharp pecerino and well salted kale. Mix it together with one of the softest and most tender eggs, and this is what I call a real winner. Even so, with the portion it did not look immediately so big, though it was not a modest size either, it was filling enough, and the bits and pieces of food on the plate were substantial and satiated the stomach effectively.

I also got a bit of my dining buddy's bacon, and this was some of the best bacon that is around town. The key to it - by hearsay of one of the owners himself - is that it is done in house. It was not only that, but both the taste and the thickness of the bacon made it something else - in fact, what it resembled was more of a piece of kassler. The marbling on the pork was second to none, the flavour was salty and sharp, and the texture was good and thick alongside its tenderness.

Tossing up afterwards, I realised that there was nowhere else to be in the day, so it was on to another coffee to try it out. Just to make sure that it was a legit effort, and that second coffee was just as good as the first. It was smooth, it had a good flavour to it, and the presentation was excellent. This was also the avenue to something else; it is around now that I have decided the real way to see if an Italian place is worth its salt, and that comes at the end. With the coffee, it is always nice for a meal to come to a head with another coffee - so that is always a good addition; but what really can bring it home is how the treat the good old canolli. What is safe to say is that we are in good hands here.

Maybe it was a tad soft, and could have been a little fresher in parts, but overall the canolli did what it usually manages to do. The pastry was redeemed with a thick layer of dark chocolate in the middle, and a creamy vanilla custard filling. Instead of going for the usual cigar shape, it was in the form of an ice cream cone - so that is something quite different. And with that, a good note is being ended on and a guess can be hazarded that plenty of good times are ahead right here.

What we have right here, is another gem within the area that is just waiting to be discovered. Some places around this time might still be ironing out kinks and have a sense of being green to them, but this is an exception. They have arrived with all of the knowledge back-to-front, like the back of their hand, and as a result they should already be off to a great start. I very much felt welcome here, and it more than gets the tick of approval for all the right reasons.

We had breakfast here the other day sitting outside with the pooch (who was made very welcome) at the bench overlooking the park. there was not much to choose from for me, being vegetarian, other than the avocado, which came with sun dried tomatoes (which are not my thing) They did kindly offer to replace them with fresh tomato though. I requested fresh chillies which they also provided. The two poached eggs went to the pooch along with some of the partners delicious bacon. His bacon was the highlight of the two breakfasts. An enormous hunk about half an inch thick landed on his plate. He also rubbed it in how delicious it was

Possibly the bests Italian restaurant there is in Brisbane and also one that is completely full all the time and not in the CBD area! Awesome parking spaces on the street....out of this world food...definitely get yourself some Salamis to start and Bacalau for sure! Always have perfect service when we go there with lots of laughter and chats. Lorenzo you are a funny funny man

This is without doubt my favorite new restaurant in Brisbane! My husband and I have been 5 or 6 times so far and each time the food is AMAZING! We have been trying to find a good restaurant since moving to Brisbane, and this place is like hitting jackpot! The pastas are sensational, but the stand out is the Pork signature dish! WOW! We don't usually like pork, but this is amazing! The desserts are great too.... We have been eaten our way through most of the menu and there isn't a dish we haven't enjoyed yet!

The service is great too! The staff are super friendly and to make things better, its family friendly! We have a 6 month old and they always give us a high chair and offer to help with bread, or heat up his food (puree). We couldn't recommend it any higher! MUST DO for Brisbane foodies!

Today, on a beautiful winter day in Brisbane we went to try a relatively new Italian restaurant that is tucked away in a quite green residential area. It was a wonderful way to have a long lazy lunch.

The luscious creaminess of the slice of butter wrapped Parfait of Chicken Liver and creamy mushroom flavour of the Orecchiette ai Funghi were to die for. The beetroot salad with mint, puy lentils and radicchio greens was fresh and lively and put the beetroot salad we had at Survey Co this week to shame.

The Vitello Tonnato was okay. I was expecting it to be more traditional, with the thinly sliced veal, more similar to a carpaccio serving style than a tartare style that Osteria Epoca leans toward. Vitello Tonnato has been one of my most favourite Italian dishes since trying it for the first time in Genoa when eating my way through northern Italy. I was disappointed that it didn't take me back to that memorable moment but never the less it was still tasty. I would say though that the size of the dice did not really suit the delicacy of the bruschetta it was served with.

The white wine we chose, however, made up for the lack of reminiscence as it took my lazy lunch companion to her travels last summer when she happened upon the same wine region when doing a tour to a truffle farm. Overall it was a beautiful spot to have a long lazy lunch and we will be back for sure.

http://osteriaepoca.com.au/#
Atmosphere was good. Food was great. "Exclusive" pricing. Great cocktails. Staff definitely trying to impress. A new classy restaurant in a suburban environment. Well worth a try.

I have been here twice since they opened and both times the food and service have been amazing. The owner is very friendly and will often come have a quick chat. Ambience and atmosphere is great, a warm little Italian family appeal. Would definitely recommend.

Beautiful place, had a table booked. Sat, got our drinks. Ordered, my fettuccini carbonara was delivered to the table...

Holy shit, best I've ever had. I used to rate Portofino's in Hong Kong as my favourite but this fettuccini carbonara was just sublime. The flavour the texture, it even looked amazing before I started to offensive rush it with my fork and spoon.

I will be back, I will bring several stomachs (of which I'd love them all to be mine so I could just eat all of the food myself (unfortunately I am not a cow))

Awesome new Italian restaurant! We ate here on the weekend for a family birthday, and the porchetta and pappardelle were two stand out dishes. Having only been open for a week there are a few kinks in terms of table service and organisation, however I'm sure these will be sorted out soon. We will be back!

Very nice and warm place, got dinner with a couple of friends, and the food was just very tasty. the creamy cod as entree was exceptional, all the pastas seams to be home made, and the Campari and orange cake just amazing. Open for breakfast lunch and dinner I'll be easily back soon.
We dined here opening night for a birthday celebration and the food was phenomenal! We had the 4 course Nonna's Table which started with antipasti, chicken parfait, fresh tuna and octopus with balsamic and radicchio. We then shared the pea risotto and pesto rigatoni before the main event; crispy pork roll served with a bitter leaf + fennel + walnut salad. Dessert was a great big slab of tiramisu. Could not fault the food - 10/10.

Service wasn't great; far too long between courses, the back deck was poorly lit and ventilated (closed off and so hot) and we weren't given any serving utensils with any of the courses. However, it was opening night and we ordered the biggest meal - so it's all understandable!

The ambience of the place (inside) is beautiful, 3 levels tiered down from coffee/deli, main dining to the bar at the bottom. Will definitely be dining here again soon!
