Oh my goodness this was tasty. Not to mention incredibly affordable. It's a nice little venue too.
Debbie McCarthy
Excellent service, great food, very tasty and loved the vegetation options. The coffee was top class. Will definitely return.

Stunning, fresh, flavourful Vietnamese food. Great price. Will be going regularly. Best Vietnamese food East of Hanoi
John de Lombardo
Excellent food. Amazing value. Tried their special spring rolls, pork belly, duck, pumpkin & sweet potato, beans and ginger. Outstanding. Highly recommended. The decor is simple but I only go there for the food and friendly staff.

I was here for dinner. I agree with the other comments that it's best to call and make a reservation. The service at the restaurant was good and the meals were quick to come out but the pros stop there. My main course of duck was cold and tasted suspiciously like pork. My partner's dish had some nice flavours but was over powered by the enormous portion of cold raw beans. For the money you pay the portion size was extremely small! I wouldn't recommend this restaurant!

Always yummy and healthy food with many options to choose from. One of the best restaurants for a decent price with dine-in option. Coffee and tea served here are tasty as well.
David Tran
Had the spicy beef pho for Sunday bunch here and really enjoyed it! The broth was authentic and the portion size was great value. I liked the efficient and friendly service. Look forward to returning to have dinner here.

I meant to drive to Wooloowin for exploration but forgot to turn to the exit on M7 so the next exit was Nundah. I remembered I have not been around the Nundah Village for a while so made a trip there. Although it was early Sunday, it was very hard to find a parking spot. Eventually, I managed to park just outside the Cafe 63. I did not go in because I aimed to have a bowl of hot noodle soup so dropped in this cafe.
It was a decent experience on my last visit here so I ordered the spicy beef Pho again.
May be it was too busy. I was completely let down this time. Portion seemed small but could be acceptable. However the soup was too salty and the noodle was not silky at all. I did miss the Pho that I had here last time.🤔
Previous rating: May 2018 4/5

Ordered a bahn mi and got the most miserable amount of meat filling !! So disappointed. Will not recommend.
AlBadaa4Life
The tasty beef rice paper rolls are to die for and I think they add a bit of ginger into the sauce which gives it all a little zing. Freshly made, the vermicelli is room temp so you’re not choking down indigestible fridge cold noodles like other places. Great value and charming people and the best rice paper rolls I’ve had.

Small French Vietnamese restaurant, located in the Nundah Village. With large variety of dishes they provide tasty meals are quick to serve and have very pleasant staff. I ate the barramundi which was falling apart with freshness. I would travel back for this. Look at the variety in my photos.

A very nice simple cafe.

Tbey have a nice beef pho (I prefer the spicy one as it gives more kick and taste on lemongrass from the homemade chilli sauce).

And they also serve good breakfast. I have always opted on Simply Duo Special

We were looking for pho somewhere on the north side and came across this place. The pho is a little plan but some people prefers that way, also tried the pork belly which was really good. Not a place i would go occasionally.
Bridie
We had dinner here last Friday night, and it was great! Beautiful Vietnamese food, everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. I particularly liked the fresh, tasty rice paper rolls! Quite noisy but a good vibe, polite and knowledgeable staff who were very helpful with the dietary requirements at our table.
Kirsten Wilson
Friendly and fast service. Delicious well priced breakfast menu, with consistent quality. Love their seasonal freshly squeezed orange juice!

After a dinner here recently, I am keen to go back again. The food is not the same as you see elsewhere, being French Vietnamese cuisine. It is a small suburban type restaurant, but it is quite busy and reserving a table is a good idea. The rice paper rolls were lovely, but the standout was the Barramundi and the Stir Fried Pumpkin. Very impressed with the price, although we did underorder a bit and found that sharing 3 mains between 4 was a bit short. I want to go back, because next time I don't want to share!

Beautiful food, great friendly service and not overly priced. It's BYO and we had 1 entree and 2 mains for $46 Well worth a try. The place is small so I suggest booking ahead but the turn over the tables quickly

My partner and I had breakfast here this morning, even though it was a little loud and cold as we had the aircon blaring on us the food was out fast and it was delicious. The portion sizes where generous which is what we normally look for being big eaters and it was all fresh and tasty. My partner ordered the big brekky and I had the mushroom madness, the coffee wasn't amazing, we will be back.

Love Simple Duo. There's a refreshingly, laid back vibe and the food is delicious for dinner. Its simple, but thoughtful. I feel like although this place isn't 'polished', it has an intimacy that's difficult to create. The staff seem genuinely interested in the customers.
Rebecca Davies
Have been coming here for years and it is fantastic. Looks ordinary, but food is great and really well priced. Fast service, fresh food that is good cafe food but not overly pretentious. Also love the consistency of everything- always great everytime. Love love love!
Jasper Thaddeus
I've been coming to Duo for years now. By far the best cafe in Nundah village. Consistently good coffee and food and still amazingly cheap. The authentic Vietnamese dinners are definitely worth a try too.
Jack Spratt
Wow. What a let down. Went here for breakfast which clearly is not where they get good reviews from. Must be their dinners. Coffee was milky as heck and neither of us finished. Food was very pedestrian and probably lower in quality than you could cook at home. Doesnt even rate a pass for me since a pass suggests that i would give
it another go.
Luisa Emilii
A great little place with great, fresh Vietnamese food. Flavors aren't overpowering. Meals aren't overly big but I'm sure you will enjoy your meal.

I'd probably book on a weekend as it fills up pretty quick.
Joel Nicholas Curtis
Excellent excellent food. Prawns, pork belly, steak, barramundi, duck. All wonderfully cooked. Slightly run down appearance to the interior but how can you complain with food this good! Definitely recommend and certainly will be back.
Jane
Absolute favourite place in Brisbane for dinner. Delicious French/Vietnamese menu. The king prawn dish is to die for. We are there regularly and the food is spot on every time. And it's BYO, even better!
Mitchell.kingston
A really great place for brunch or lunch in the heart of Nundah. Good and fast service with a really nice and varied menu, the Pho and the Beef Burger being highlights.
Misscharlot
Walked pass this shop when we want to find food in Nundah on a Saturday, was kind of cute and saw people having coffee outside the store....so just went in and give it a go.
Food was good, but nothing too fancy and surprising.
Is not table service, i mean i have to go to the counter to order but there is waitress to deliver the food and coffee.....

Great for dinner. Fine dining at suburban prices. Such an interesting menu. French/vietnamese fusion done so well. Add in that is byo. So fantastic. Try the barra and pumpkin coconut.
Frenchfrygirl
A great local cafe for a nice meal on a weekend morning. It is a modest cafe along with a modest menu and pricing. I enjoyed the peaceful ambience sitting outside and had a vegetarian big breakfast. Staff are attentive and friendly.
Fionakay
The owner Thanh is such a sweet heart, so you're in for a treat if she's working. Moving past the classic breakfast menu, lunch is a little bit special! First things first, the BLT is a personal favourite. To amp things up, they recently introduced an additional Vietnamese lunch menu which includes tasty rice paper rolls and pho (divine!), just to name some stand-outs. Simply Duo also transforms into a French-Vietnamese restaurant Wednesday - Saturday nights. Leave room for the black rice pudding - it's to die for.
Wuukkii
Cheap but lacking customer service. The food is pretty good but without bubbly customer service, I wouldn't recommend or go back. Hard to get a car spot as they have no customer parking

Love this place .good value food great breakfast look forward to the next visit

Really disappointing. I went here for dinner a few times last year and quite liked it. Unfortunately I went back there recently and was really unimpressed. Firstly the door was left open so I got attacked by mozzies all night. We had the duck which was so overlooked and chewy we couldn't eat it. We also shared the pumpkin dish but annoyingly it had no sauce so it was basically just pumpkin. I had the same dish a year ago and it came with a beautiful coconut milk sauce which was lovely.

Overcharged. Not impressed, especially after the reviews on here. We dropped in for a coffee and a snack a couple of nights ago. We ordered our two coffees and the staff member asked us how much the coffees were as he didn't know. Pointing to the board with the coffee prices he then decided that at night they charge $4.50 for a medium coffee (nearly $1 extra per cup). We asked why the board did not say the night time prices were higher and he could not tell us.
Being stuck for options, we decided to buy it anyway and paid by eftpos. We were told we would have to sit down outside as the tables inside were only for people ordering dinner. When we sat outside, in 30 degree heat, we noticed that we had been charged $10 for the two coffees. Once the drinks were brought out we asked why we had been charged $5 per cup, the staff member explained that they had a $10 minimum eftpos. He then walked off. We went inside, asked for the manager but were told the manager was not there and that we would not be getting a refund.
This is the only time we will ever visit this establishment and recommend that everybody avoids it!

Coffee shop by day, Vietnamese by night!. Vietnamese dishes are good size dish for dinner. Nice flavour and nice staff. The only problem is the food service is slow. I would come back again but not all the time. It's difficult to find parking.
Linda
Breakfast Joy!!. So disappointing when the food is so good and atmosphere to match but made feel like we were such an imposition to have breakfast. Cutlery basically thrown at the table and meals to follow. Waitress could crack a smile ! So many breakfast options in Nundah....... Wont be back for breaky.
Courtney_7373
Our favourite!. We love it here, and almost go every Sunday. The staff are always friendly, the prices are extremely reasonable and we have never had a bad meal. Highly recommend!
Denisenolan4
Thank-you. Sunday mid morning breakfast, the café was quite crowded and a little noisy inside. Sat outside after ordering and were pleasantly surprised how quickly our coffees arrived. Not my favourite brand of coffee, however made well enough. Two plated breakfasts delivered as ordered in no time at all. Friendly service, clean cutlery, extremely well priced and food was enjoyable. Will recommend this café to others.

Fantastic!. My friend and I had the house vegetarian curry for lunch and it was so delicious - a beautiful blend of subtle flavours and definitely one of the best meals I've had in a while. Value for money also and fast service.
Melikins
Fantastic!. Really tasty food, very reasonably priced, and the milkshakes actually fill the metal cup which just never happens anymore. I'll definitely be back!
DianaW
Diana. Value for money little establishment which seems to pack the people in as well. We were there for breakfast on a busy Sat morning, but got served very quickly with no dramas at all. The house beans were amazing, great flavour, simple dish, but surprisingly few can get them just right. Coffee was OK, needed more strength for my taste though, however was very creamy & smooth

Food ok, amenties disgrace. Heads up to mothers with babies. The food was ok but certainly did not make up for the amenities which were a disgrace. The toilets for this cafe/restaurant are located out in the backyard in a tin shed. You have to leave through the front door, walk halfway around the block to a driveway which leads down to a car park behind the building. There is a shed (and I do mean shed: corrugated iron roof etc), basically an old outhouse with one toilet. No bench/basin area to change a baby so my friend had to change her newborn on the grass outside. Not at all what I expected from a cafe in this area. Whether you have a baby or not, the toilets were awful and took away from this cafe experience. With all the other new cafe options in Nundah, I won't go back to this cafe.

Good food but busy. I have come here a couple of times, great little cafe and a good vibe. The food is well priced and freshly prepared and came out very quickly in the three times I've been (was Sunday morning and was quite busy).

I've had the simply duo, bacon and eggs and the eggs benedict with ham, all came out well presented, were well cooked and were fresh. The coffee here is nice and not burnt. Staff are nice and friendly.

My only note is that sometimes it get very very busy, I always find it a bit cramped/awkward when you're in a cafe and you're back to back with someone's chair. However there is not much you can really do about it unless you get a bigger cafe. Not sure it will be for everyone but it's worth checking out.
Gordon Ramsay
Great but.... Loved our lunch here but we found it a bit odd that we couldnt purchase the creme caramel that was in the display cabinet at the counter...the guy serving us said they can only purchased at night. didnt think buying sweets was only restricted to the P.M. aparently it is here!
Karina Krause
I'm never disappointed whenever I visit. It is a popular weekend breakfast and brunch destination so it becomes busy around 9am on the weekend.

Ambiance - can be a little crowded and noisy when things are in full swing. Outdoor tables available.

Service - pay at the counter service and always with a smile. Staff are friendly and the food comes out promptly, even when it is busy.

Price - Prices are reasonable for generous servings.

Coffee - lovely coffee and made with love by the baristas.

Food - comes out quickly and always served hot and fresh. The eggs are always poached to perfection, the mushrooms are sautéed with garlic and spinch which is delicious. Baked beans are homemade. Bread is always fresh and staff are happy to assist with any dietary requirements.

Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Worth checking out. Sunday Breakfast, flavours everywhere in each bite.
Freshly cooked not precooked left standing in a heater.
You will notice the difference! Worth a go!!
Rowland Lampard
French toast with maple syrup berries and bacon yum cooked to perfection and delivered by friendly staff with a smile

Nice friendly cafe , tasty food and quick service . Good variety on the menu . Worth a visit.

Terrific little cafe in the heart of Nundah Village. Friendly service, good coffee and great breakfasts.
Whilst the food may be a little slow in coming to your table, once it gets there it is certainly worth the wait. On our first visit there we enjoyed the Big Brekky and the Simple Duo with a side of hollandaise sauce. Full of flavour in every component with the sauce being the standout - freshly made and not average in the slightest.
Definitely worth a visit and we will certainly be back.
Fiona
Fantastic fresh Vietnamese food. We met some friends from the northside at this restaurant at their suggestion - it's apparently a favourite with the locals and now we know why. They do dinner some nights of the week, and we just had dinner in a packed restaurant on a Friday night. Service was polite and attentive, and the food came out very quickly. Beautiful flavours, fantastic fresh dishes - we had a variety of mains that we all shared. The spring rolls were the best I've ever had - just lightly fried and bursting with flavour. The green papaya salad was amazing and reminded me of the salad that they used to serve at the Green Papaya in the 90s back when Lien Yeomans was running the kitchen. All up a lovely, relaxed and well priced meal and even though it's a bit of a trip for us from the southside, we will definitely be back.
Slaps_forehead
Great Value. NIce little place. Reasonably priced tasty meals. The coffee could do with some improvement.
Greggy
Had lunch there two days in a raw. Service and food are excellent. Coffee was a bit weak but overall it is a pretty good place to eat.
Dom S
Yummy food, great service!. Their smoked salmon stack was absolutely delicious! I got them to add sautéed mushrooms and spinach, which completed this dish in my opinion. Wonderful service also, will definitely be back again soon.

Wow! I've always avoided Nundah because of its down and out feel but Duo has given me a reason to come.
The food and atmosphere is unpretentious and delicious. Love it!
Holly
We went here for dinner and Whilst we enjoyed the food, it took forever to come out. Reasonably priced though.
Kitty Andrina Tozer
Went this morning , such a cute little hidden away cafe with delicious food!! Friendly staff :) had a great morning

Good and Cheap!. My boyfriend went to Simply Duo last month and was raving about it so on Sunday morning he insisted that we go and have breakfast! I am not a big breakfast person but my meal was yummy! I forget what the meal i got was called but i had sourdough toast, bacon, grilled tomato, spinich and mushrooms! It hit the spot. Coffee was also good! We had to wait a while to get a table but it was fine. Inside is very loud - will try and get a table outside in the future. We both really enjoyed Simply Duo! We both had a breakfast and coffee and it only cost $30 - Bargin! Nundah is turning into a great litte spot... minus centerlink.....
Bella
Food is fantastic if you are prepared to wait, often up to 30 mins. Very loud too, there is nothing to absorb the sound so it amplifies. In saying that I will make the trip, aiming to choose the most quiet time possible for a milo thick shake, yummy!
Tim Brun
Lovely service, coffee wasn't too bad, long Mac was almost a small latte. Food was good, ceasar salad not swimming in dressing which is always nice
HungryTummy
Delicious Breakfast. Wow, this place is a little gem.
Great menu for brekkie and the food is incredibly good.
The staff are so very friendly and helpful, you always feel welcome.
This morning was crazy busy but that did not have any impact on the quality of the food or service.
Camden
Book for dinner - amazing food. The dinner bookings are really a local secret, the menu is completely different and is a little Vietnamese-French. Very delicious, fresh and well priced.
I go here every week for breakfast, eggs benedict is meal of choice and it's lovely.
Nakia
Fantastic food at a very reasonable price! The rice paper rolls, pork belly and pumpkin stir fry are favourites.
Sam
This is now our regular local!!. Based on a friend's recommendation and reviews online, decided to try this local restaurant for our anniversary. Was not disappointed! Attentive waitress and really enjoyed the fresh and fried spring rolls; sweet and spicy beef and pork belly dishes.
Will definately return!
David Russell
Simply the best. I think that Simply Duo could be Nundah’s hidden secret. Breakfast this morning was freshly squeezed orange juice and Special Duo (I think?) which left me feeling satisfied with both the freshness of the food and the price. The service was very quick and friendly and I will admit that my order did come out incorrectly at first but they brought a replacement of the correct meal within a couple of minutes. I will be back again for more of their simple delights.
NotQuiteNaomi
Came for an early Saturday morning breakfast. The staff were friendly, the coffee was tasty and the breakfast was great tasting and priced. Didn't feel heavy on my stomach, fresh ingredients and differet turkish breads. Will be back!
Kristoffer Vuak
Incredible breakfast. Every element on the plate was perfectly cooked and delicious!
Deck_Chairs
Had a great dinner with my hard to please boyfriend here. Had the prawn rice paper rolls to start which were delicious. For mains we had the barramundi and sweet and spicy beef which were both tasty. Both enjoyed the Vietnamese coffee. Will definitely be returning!
Mooey
Fantastic!! Great prices and amazing breakfast and coffee coupled with friendly staff. Cannot fault it!

Nice experience around the corner. I've been there for dinner to have the Vietnamese fusion dishes, they are simply yummy and delicious. Service is good and waitress are funny.
Spectre
Really nice surprise. We went here for dinner on a saturday night and were surprised at how good the food is. The prawn dish was just beautiful. Flavours aren't subtle, they are full and satisfying which is what I like. And it was packed full of diners from the moment the door opened. I will definately be back and recommending this place.

Amazing breakie times. Duo is a wonderfully relaxed cafe that I often frequent. Service is great, food is local and fresh and the owner is one of the sweetest ladies you will ever meet!
Nat
Duo-licious. I love this place, have been here numerous times over the 2 years that I have been in the area and have never once been disappointed. Food is super well priced and service is fast and friendly. It doesn't pretend to be something that it isn't and the food servings are generous and perfectly cooked. Love it and hope it never changes!
Tanya Moore
Simply Duo Nundah. I can't praise this place enough, we have been to Vietnam, this food was excellant with a equal status of a price. The waitress was totally entertaining, I felt like we were at a "Faulty Towers" experience, all for the one low cheap price and no dentures in the soup. This place is the best, it is small and cosie. So book if you dont want to miss out. Seriously people that gave this place a bad review,I don't know what happened on your night, but we were very impressed. And I love the cheeky waitress. Regards. the Lawyer and the Hairdresser.
Jypsyjen
Jypsyjen. What a refreshing surprise this restaurant was... at a late invitation I dined there last week and was astonished at the quality of the food. Fresh and light with an Asian twist. I managed to eat entree, main, dessert and coffee and still walked out feeling thoroughly satisfied for my new dining experience an not like I had just eaten a brick. Service was a little quirky with a frazzled waitress "Candi" whom I had to calm down initially and reassure we would "work in with her" but she knew every dish and still went to the trouble to explain and recommend dishes which I found refreshing and professional. She had a story to tell as well but you will have to go there to find out about that. Also their Vietnamese coffee is a must via a drip filter on a cup over condensed milk. I thoroughly recommend
Chilli Lover
Not Good. I have visited on 2 separate occasions. I found the wait staff to be extreemely rude on both occasions. The Vietnamese Pho is lackluster to say the least. The beef appears to be cold cut roast beef from the woolworths deli and there was no fresh basil or bean shoots or lemon - a big dissapointment. The broth tasted like it was made from a pre bought paste.

Rude staff + Less then average Pho = don't go!
Sally
Simply Duo's is wonderful!. We eat breakfast and dinner at Duo's at least once a week and we love everything about it. Not only is the food freshy, tasty and cooked professionaly but it's extremely well priced and the service is friendly and personalised. I would highly recommend Duo's to anyone!
Lily
Double booking disaster.... In order for reviewers to taste the food the cafe needs to learn how to not double book tables.
Even if given a time and a table booking you may still need a back up plan as overbooking seems to be the theme for this excited little cafe.
I even had to produce my mobile phone and demonstrate that the call was made before any responsibility was accepted and only then was the chef blamed.
Quite rude so not sure we will ever return to actually taste the food.
Nunya
Its probably just me but..... The food is always good, the owners are very pleasant the service is patchy depending on who's working with them on the morning. Having said all that its definitely great value for money.
Maybe I've been coming here too long. What other reviewers are describing as rustic I'm seeing as the place simply needs some money spent on it.
But like I said maybe its just me....
Helena Redmond
I know the owners from when they were at the green papaya in East Brisbane. Beautiful food, especially love the scallops and dessert was excellent too! The head chef has put his own spin on the GP classics - spicy beef YUM! Great price for such good quality food. Plus it's byo. It's quaint setting provides a home kitchen feel with the exposed wooden floor boards. Ambience was perfect.
Kelly
Loved it! I went there for breakfast recently and it was spot on! Cheap and tasty! Plus they make a top notch mocha. Thumbs up guys!
BrisFoodie
Hidden gem. Great cafes are few and far between in this part of town, thankfully there is Simply Duo to pick up the slack.
I have eaten here many times for brunch and dinner and it has never dissapointed.
The food is flavourful and very reasonably priced and the owners are lovely people that know their regulars.
This is the kind of place every neighbourhood should have!
Sharonbeilby
Had dinner there last night - the French / Vietnamese was sublime, the service efficient and friendly and best of all was the bill at the end of the evening - VERY CHEAP. All in all, a great night and we will be returning soon!
David Hanlin
Great breakfast coffe. Looking for a great morn coff then look no further than th place. I great stop for breakfast
Kiki
Great for the tastebuds and the wallet. We went to Duos one morning when cafe Jam (across the road) was full. We were amazed to find that the food was better and the prices cheaper. The coffee is great, as good a cup as any I have had at much more expensive cafes, and their Duo burger is amazing (so much flavour). Add in the wonderful staff who never fail to recognize us now and say hello, and Duos is just about perfect. Also baby and child friendly but take a small pram or carry bub in a sling to save floor space.
Dan
Been doing breakfast for a while, but have just come for dinner now they are open as Vietnamese at night (wed-sun). Wow, food is fantastic and so well priced. Can't wait to come back!
Arebee
About what you could expect.. The food at Duo is about what you could expect from a Cafe in Australia. The service is fine and the Coffee is okay. Overall a fairly average place.
Matty Horsten
Tucked away on Nundah's Sandgate Road, Simply Duo made my Saturday. I had the French Toast with a flat white, my wife the Eggs Benedict with a juice. The food is delightful for it's uncomplicated approach - focussing on the basics. The decor is suitably rustic, with white walls and bare floor boards, but it feels right for a quiet weekend breakfast. The service was friendly and unhurried, yet the food and coffee came promptly. I think I've found a new local weekend haunt!
Jeffanddonna
A great find!. Open for breakfast and lunch 7days and dinner (BYO)Wed - Sat. French Vietnamese cuisine. Excellent value, great menu, and BYO is a bonus which means 3 courses is doable even on a budget. Food is consistently good.
Tim
Just ate 4 dinner. Really great value Vietnamese. I'll b back very soon.

Do yourself a favour. Fantastic cafe in Nundah Village. Yummy food & excellent coffees for very reasonable prices. Breakfast and Lunch menus only (though I do believe they're open on Friday nights... got to check it out!).
