Review Anouk Cafe - Brisbane

Mariana Askar
I went to this cute little cafe last Monday. Coffee was good, the small cup isn’t small tho. I had the Gnocchi, my friends had the omelette and the Cilbir. And after we ordered the two desserts (doughnuts and french toast). All savoury dishes were beautiful, a explosion of flavour, the bacon was burnt so they gave us another one. Unfortunately the desserts were a huge disappointment. The doughnut had flour flavour and the french toast had no flavour at all. But I would still recommend this place, great service and atmosphere.

Yes indeed! I’m in love with the vibes of this place ❤️‍🔥 The last time I was there for breakfast, we ordered two items and to be honest one of them was just perfect 5/5 ‘ Swiss, chestnut, and oyster mushrooms with garlic confit, parmesan, and pine nuts on toasted brioche’ this dish stole my heart.. However, the other one ‘ Bánh Xèo’ was unsuccessful one, it was really bad! the dirty chai latte was so romantic…

Amazing service as soon as we walked in! Good spot to bring a toddler - they made it easy for us. Got the cilbur and Nasi goreng - and both were really good! We got the doughnuts to share and this was great - not too sweet like others I’ve tried. Got the lychee mint drinks which were yummy too!

Turkish cafe with asian fusion menu? Had wonderful breakfast here. Turkish bread with avo was just perfection. From the softness of the bread, creaminess of the avocado and the balance in the dressing. Delicious! Baked egg- that was a bit of a let down. It had only one small egg in a big bowl of tomato based sauce. The sauce was delicious with smoked paprika and capsicum etc. However it was just too much sauce. Maybe better paired with Turkish bread also. The lady serving us explained that this cafe cater more for vegetarians and most don't want too much egg.... Anyhow for the price two eggs are expected.

I always love coming here! Food is funky and fresh, exceptionally innovative but always tastes amazing. Their chai tea was the best I have had in a long time and their staff friendliness is warm and welcoming. Will be back here next week. Thanks for the impeccable service !

An acknowledging, warm, and friendly welcoming goes a long way; especially on a drizzly morning… As does a long loungey bench pilled high with enormous fluffy cushions. Add in natural light and free Brisbane wifi you get a pretty good all-round nice atmosphere. The food isn't fantastic value when you add in the portion sizes, but it is more unqiue and has been flavourful. For the baked eggs: Good flavours, and a level of spice that I appreciated. Pretty well thought out too, the crispy chickpeas were really valuable for their texture and the sour cream (hard to go wrong) justified the tortillas. Although, in my opinion they were too oily, especially with it being a wet dish. ‘Kawarma: spiced lamb, fried egg, pita w/ hummus and pomegranate molasses’. A combination of flavours I like, and a meal I enjoyed. The lamb mince it didn’t feel that fatty or oily and the texture really complimented the egg, hummus and bread. A subtle drizzle of pomegranate molasses and egg is a nice combination. The hummus felt a bit light on and I think I’d like it warm or at room temperature rather than cold. I was also really searching for a fresh element, like some cucumber, cherry tomatoes or a bit of yogurt.

This place was very busy on a Friday lunch when we were there, we were lucky to get a table for two. My expectation was very high because of how busy it was (it was also very noisy), service was very friendly and food served super fast considering how full they were. Maybe my expectation was a bit too high, so I wasn't entirely happy with the meal. They are tasty but too salty us. Overall nice experience and quite happy with it.

Really yum cafe in Paddington. The whiting on a green papaya salad is particularly good, full of beautiful sweet and savoury flavours, with a little chili heat. The coffee is also great here. This cafe comes highly recommended.

To sum up this cafe in one word - spectacular. Visited after a Hen's night on the town, and everyone was in desperate need of a hearty meal. Within moments of seating, a bubbly waitress was upon us, pen poised to take our drink orders while we waited the rest of our party. I myself ended up consuming a couple hot chocolates (so good, I had to have a second), and the risotto with spanner crab, which was absolutely delicious and full of flavour. Others around the table all agreed that their meals were equally delicious. A fantastic little cafe, with a very active owner out on the floor which is always a delight to see. Will definitely be giving this cafe another visit next time I'm in Brisbane!

Thank-you for a lovely breakfast this morning! The coffee and food are alway exceptional. While we had to line up to get in, we were able to order coffee which was fantastic. One of the best things about Anouk are their staff- even though they are super busy, our waitresses were lovely and thoughtful. Absolutely worth the wait!

We took some visitors for a amazing brunch at Anouk Cafe in Paddington today. The food was exceptional, and the service faultless. The owner, Justine was on hand to ensure the high standards she sets were attained. I can highly recommend the Crispy Skinned Salmon, and the Asian Sticky Pork with kimchi and rice. Cannot wait to return and sample some of the other tempting offerings.

Absolutely horrible and aggressive service. A group of four of us sat down and ordered coffees and breakfast. I ordered a soy chai latte but they only do tea so I got a chai latte elsewhere and when I returned I was immediately approached very aggressively by the owner to tell me I had to either step outside to have my drink or I would have to have it in one of their cups but I could not have the drink as it was. We were all taken back at how aggressive she was and despite everyone else already having their coffee and our food on its way we decided to leave. She picked up my take away cup from the table and shoved it at me saying “good, leave!” And stormed off. We went elsewhere only to find that the owner of this cafe has quite the reputation for being aggressive and incredibly rude. I am actually shocked this cafe still has 4.6 stars with this sort of service.

An amazing experience with great staff. The staff bend over backwards for you to create a memorable impression. Thank you for meeting my demanding needs for an extra hot Mocha ( it was zee bomb btw) and crispy bacon. Ohh, la la! Need I say morrre, ah.. yeaaah! If your looking for a breakfast experience that speaks innovation, get on ova to Anouk cafe!

We were 4 of us there for a coffee after lunch yesterday. We ordered a lemon tart as well when i saw them in the cake cabinet, it was so good and the lady served the tart with a generous portion of vanila icecream with passionfruit sauce which made the tart perfect. Definitely will go back to try their food next time with those great comments. The only thing they should do better is the coffee, it is ok but should be better when pairing with those delicious food.

Anouk is a beautiful place for brunch, the service was very good. I had the croissant French toast and the lime and lemon homemade ice tea and it was literally the best breakfast I have ever had! It was quite noisy being a weekend morning, so if you prefer quiet perhaps midweek would suit you best. The food was amazing and I would highly recommend Anouk. There was a range of menu options that catered to both low and high budgets. Loved it!
Jayne Curle
Exceptional brunch menu. Absolutely delicious. It's hard to be impressed with a brunch menu but this one did it for me.
Erik Szaks
Amazing breakfast, fantastic service, great atmosphere. The crab omelette was just incredible. Only reason not 5 starts was the coffee was good but not great. Would definitely recommend!!

This place strives to please. Nothing is too much and friendly staff make it a pleasure. Food is great. Kudos.

Fantastic food, awesome menu! They are doing stuff beyond the basics and are creating new and exciting breakfasts well worth my time and money!
Maryjane Morris
Outstandingly warm and charming waitstaff, lovely decor, delicious food and a delightfully fragrant hand-blended chai......a hard to beat cafe experience, five and a half stars!

The food is absolutely wonderful, such unique tastes. The staff are very friendly, efficient and talented!

This is one of my favourite places in Brisbane - the food is always amazing and service is top notch! Thanks for another great Mother's Day lunch

Absolutely amazing! Love the food, love the venue and love the beautiful staff! Thank you!

I call Anouk my second place of business in Paddington, but it's so much more than that!! A place to meet, a place where they know my name, my coffee and how to start my day off with great vibes. Thanks for being you!

The place has an amazing vibes. It was Saturday morning and i was excited to tru Anouk, first the coffee was very tasty, but the bad thing was I got my scrambled eggs COLD and unfortunately when I wanted to drink water, the glass was smelly! My mood turned off :(
JJ
Pretty good food, and pretty good service. I've been there twice, once in a large group of 8 and the second with just one other person. Service was quite prompt, though the food the second time round was a little too sweet and a little too spicy for the two dishes we got. Lovely ambience.
Ronnielui2003
Arrived the area early in the morning and found that there was no many places opened for brekkie so gave it a go. Surprised to see so many tables were occupied. I chose one table near the entrance and placed my order of flat white and savoury dish of poached egg with hollandaish sauce and salmon.<br/>Coffee came with normal presentation and strength shifted to weak level for my palate. Savoury dish was not my expectation but passable. Maybe it was not my lucky day🤔

We had to try this institution in Paddington on our trip to Brisbane and it did not disappoint!! Truly amazing service in a lovely setting and delicious and tasty food!!!!<br/><br/>Pictured is the Apple Bircher Muesli (coconut yoghurt, roast coconut, berry compote and flowers) & Skim Latte

Apparently they have a new menu. I came in to order a yoghurt smoothie after looking on the Zomato menu, but was told that due to menu updates I’d have to do with a milk and ice cream instead. It was indeed delicious, however I was a bit disappointed to see people around me being served something that looked very much like a smoothie. I hope to come back and try something to eat.

Came here on Saturday morning, I had to wait for 15 minutes before I got a table. I noticed that Anouk has heaps of tables in a rather small space, thus there is a close gap between the tables. The walls are decorated prettily in a vintage theme. The servers also wore a vintage dress, completing the vintage feelings. <br/><br/>Ordered a cup of latte, which turned out nicely. Also ordered the Swiss and King Brown Mushrooms and Greens in Rosemary Parmesan Cream. The cream was quite too liquid but seasoned nicely. Overall, the dish was balanced between the mushroom, the bread, and the cream.<br/><br/>I would like to come back to enjoy various brekkie options available :).

Alrighty so every local knows Anouk is a deadset brunch institution. But ever considered having it as your own private bistro for functions? It’s epic. Work Christmas lunch here catered to our large team with customised share plates that were generous AF & deftly incorporated all special dietaries. Dishes were confidently executed & universally enjoyed by the hungry, half charged horde. <br/><br/>In the lead-up & on the day, Justine & her team could not have been more accommodating, personable & delightful. ‘Your drinks, our room & hospitality.’ A simple ideology delivered in a way that won everyone over. <br/><br/>#littlefuss #bigresults #officehero

Disappointing considering this used to be a go-to for Paddo breakfast. It was busy but not full yet we still waited 45 minutes from ordering our meals (2 meals) until they arrived. My partners very simple eggs with a side of bacon had to go back as no bacon. The mushrooms were slightly underwhelming in flavour and had been poured over the toasted Turkish to make it more like soggy bread.<br/><br/>When lining up to pay, one of the staff held up people paying in front of us as she had taken the eftpos machine to serve a customer behind us... don't mind we had been waiting some time. We also were not offered the muffin we had ordered.<br/><br/>On a positive, the coffee was great.<br/>

Every time I come here the food is delicious and the service is great. I’m all about the specials board. However, their main menu is excellent- the three cheese risotto is 10/10. <br/><br/>From frappes to fruity fizzes, the drinks range is fabulous- I am able to have passion fruit in almost everything. <br/><br/>A beautiful interior and a relaxing atmosphere make this one of my favourite go-to places. I have never had a bad time here.

Super friendly staff, and very nice meal! <br/>I had a chicken burger which was humongous! It came with bacon crisps and sliced sweet potatoes in it, and also fresh fried chips aside. <br/>The chicken was a bit over fried as the skin turned dark and the texture was a bit hard and dry. <br/>But overall it was a great dining out experience! Will totally come back another time! ❤️
Jenny
Was a little disappointed with my meal of poached eggs with roasted potato and tomatoes. Poached eggs were hard boiled (first time in my 40 years dining). When asked how my meal was (and I don’t ever complain) I said “I would have loved it better if the eggs weren’t hard but soft with the potatoes” I was greeted with several minutes of how eggs can over cook when resting and it happens from time to time. And can also happen depending on the chickens?? Then to top it off suggested I ask for soft poached eggs next time. Won’t be next time.
Rob
Great cafe with an interesting menu which is available all day. The food we ordered was delicious and in good size portions. And having a happy and helpful waiter serving great coffee in the morning is what makes it even better.
Evelyn
The French toast is the best, served with apple, cinnamon, maple syrup, bacon and oats. Relaxing ambience and friendly service. Visiting Anouk is always the best way to celebrate weekends.

We were greeted by the happiest, most bubbly staff known to man from the second we set foot in the cafe! Next we were blown away by all of choices for food, breakfast all day and lunch options to choose from too? Yes please! After a lot of hmming and ahhing the painfully patient waitress took our order. Not one of us was disappointed even slightly by the food, it was delicious. Would oh-so-happily come back again to this place. My new go to for brekkie or lunch in the area. Thanks again :)

Amazing / living in Brisbane but I felt there like traveling to a elegant /cool overseas area *)) ps: bringing hope to Brisbane about food and service ⛲🗼

Any restaurant that serves breakfast dishes at lunchtime on a weekday gets my vote! Took food advice from a local retailer and decided to call in on a Monday afternoon for a quick bite. The ladies are delightful; passionate about customer service and their imaginative menu. My dish was satisfying and served in quick time.

This place was so busy on a Sunday morning, I had to wait for 10mins but the food was so good that it was worth it! I ordered the Breakfast Bruschetta (it had avocado, romesco, whipped feta, quinoa herb salad and toasted sesame seeds) and ordered the cold press juice (orange, apple and pineapple). I was happy with my choices as the breakfast bruschetta (definitely recommend!) was really flavourful (I liked how they placed the whipped feta cheese on the side so you can control how much of the feta you eat with the toast because it is very creamy and salty so it can be overpowering in flavour). This dish was pretty light as well (although the portion was massive, it was mostly salad but had 2 pieces of toast so it was filling but didn’t make me feel bloated afterwards). The juice was fresh but it just tasted like freshly squeezed orange juice (couldn’t really taste the apple or pineapple).<br/><br/>My friend ordered a classic breakfast dish of scrambled eggs with bacon and toast and the watermelon, strawberry and cloudy apple fruit shake to drink. I had a taste and thought that the dish was quite average but the drink was nice (had a balanced sweetness to it and it was good to drink on a really hot day!). <br/><br/>The service was excellent! Everyone was really friendly and food and drinks came out fast. Although it was really busy, the waiters were not pushy in clearing out our table and they always asked “how is everything?” with a smile. The prices were quite good (about $22 for a full brunch meal and drink). The food on the menu were about $16 - $24 and drinks were $4 - $7. It really depends on what you order but I really enjoyed the breakfast bruschetta so for the price of $16 (it was worth it considering that it had a lot of different elements on the dish). <br/><br/>It seems like a great place to meet up with friends or family for breakfast or brunch (not ideal for people with babies as the place is really crowded and can be quite noisy - they can sit at a table outside though). Might be less busy on a weekday but definitely would have to wait if dining on a weekend. Wouldn’t mind coming back though.

Had a fantastic brunch here on Australia Day. Service was impeccable and we were quickly shown to our seats.<br/><br/>I ordered the mushroom, spinach and kale toast while my partner ordered the baked eggs. I loved the baked eggs (and the soft tortillas!) while my partner preferred my toast. The baked eggs had a slightly spicy kick to it, which I particularly enjoyed. We also added a side of bacon to our vegetarian dishes.<br/><br/>As for drinks, the black cold drip coffee really hit the right spot. The white cold drip coffee was a tad too bland for us but that may just be our personal preference. Highly recommend this brunch spot.
Vanessa
Delicious plus great coffee and service!! Highly recommend for brunch or lunch and love places that offer an all day brekkie menu!! Will become one of our local favs for sure
Pork Bellies
Great service, food has a fusion twist. Extensive drinks menu, particular love the fruit shakes in summer, blended fruit with ice drinks.<br/><br/>French fries were yum, and people on other tables ordered salads and dessert looked great.<br/><br/>We had the specials: Big boss & bubble squeak. Big boss was tasty but not outstanding, just steak, bacon and avo on toast. Bubble squeak had nice flavour, but abit on the oily side.
Kinnii
Lovely presentation of dishes, with massive portion. Prices are on slightly high side however, with lovely staff members who checked in on us throughout our meal a little too much (4 times). There were billing errors, which was settled without any further hassle. Food wise, loving the corn puffs which are really light and fluffy.

I love my weekly visits to Anouk, whether it's for coffee or breakfast or a takeaway milkshake (amazing by the way). <br/><br/>Welcoming warm atmosphere and quality, tasty menu.

Top notch brunch location, excellent food and service. The salted caramel ice cream sundae is too die for! They also have options for those with dietary requirements.

Decided to venture here on a Sunday morning. It was raining and miserable so what better way than to indulge in some tasty food. We arrived without a booking, and were lucky to get a table as it was pumping. Got a comfy seat at the back, however noticed straight away it is a small space and it becomes very loud, as in we were yelling at each other to talk. Ordered the baked egg, which was pleasant however lost the taste of the egg within the red pepper sauce. For the price I don't believe it was worth it, and as for adding extras it is a bit pricey compared to other places in the area. The coffee was nice and we ordered some cheeky fries as well which tasted awesome! Will have to come back to try lunch !

Friendly. Resonable. Small menu. <br/>Good coffee.😊 <br/>Specials were intersting and resonably well presented. <br/>Decor is kitchy and modern.<br/>Dining room can be a little noisy and somewhat cramped. Saying that. Comfortable and relaxed.
Jessica Gray
My partner and I enjoyed our breakfast here every weekend. The scramble egg and other foods we ordered were nicely cooked. Staff was friendly.
Thea Brady
Wonderful! Great coffee! The food was amazing, good portions and well priced. I love been able to take my dog for a walk then pop out for good food , the outdoor setting provided enough shade on this sunny spring day.
John Smith
Was really looking forward to trying this place because of the great reviews but it was honestly such a let down. The coffee was good, however the serving sizes are really small considering the price, the food is nothing special, and the service is below average. $21 for 1 slither of over toasted grain toast with 3 tiny shavings of (really bland) cured salmon and 2 (overcooked) poached eggs... and we both ate a second breakfast at home afterwards. So disapointing!

One of my favourite cafes in Paddington. The service was warm and welcoming. Love the interior, very fresh and lively with all the plants throughout the cafe. The coffee was great and the best scrambled eggs I've had in a long time!

Coffee: B+<br/>Breakfast: B<br/>Service: A-<br/>Venue: B<br/><br/>Notes: Service was super, with very attentive and friendly staff. Breakfast food was innovative and mostly satisfying. Coffee was good.<br/><br/>Food we tried: Camp hash, French toast pancakes, avocado on sourdough, iced latte, English breakfast tea.

This was hands down the best breakfast I've had in Brisbane made with freshest of ingredients and delivered by the friendliest of staff! 10 out of 10!
Matt Lonesome
My favorite coffee shop in Paddington.<br/>Great food, nice atmosphere. The owner of the shop is a good host.<br/>Not a big fan of Merlo Coffee though...But this is my personal taste. A part for that all awesome here.<br/>
Cameron Yang
Nice joint, friendly service. They forgot to bring out my girlfriend's side of haloumi but quickly rectified this when we told them, and didn't charge us for it at the end which was thoughtful. Food was delicious, but portions were a little small for the price. My mango yoghurt shake was a little light on the mango, but I do recommend whatever my partner got (lychee mint something).
Jasmyin.tay
Friendly staff, loyal customer base at breakfast and delicious food - some really innovative dishes too. Service can be a bit slow, so if you're in a rush, reconsider.
Maryjane Morris
A delicious breakfast, beautifully served and finessed. Staff were outstandingly welcoming (we turned up on Mother's Day without a booking!!), professional and charming. All in all, a delightful breakfast experience. I shall be back when next visiting Brisbane!
Ang Berry
Ordered a simple breakfast - poached eggs, tomato, hollandaise and toast. All was great except for the poached eggs which were more like boiled eggs. Maybe I'll ask for them under next time.
Sharon Davidson
This place is outstanding. From the moment the waitress took the order until we left you have to say breath taking. Perfect service. Perfect food would highly recommend. Well priced.
Emily Quinn
I ordered the avocado dish on sourdough, it was TERRIBLE - drowned in oil. I might as well have eaten a big greasy pizza. My partner ordered the mince beef dish, also completely drenched in oil. To be fair, the coffee was really nice but unfortunately the bad food has completely turned me off returning.
Sassenach
A fabulous cafe that's survived many years in a picky area. I haven't been in a while but was thrilled to find the menu was up to date and loaded with a wide selection of tempting options. <br/><br/>I love the current focus on salad based meals, even for breakfast. Loved my salmon, potato, polenta salad. Other dishes looked amazing, there are many options here. <br/><br/>Friendly staff, gorgeous decor and great coffee.
Liya Wu
Stylish dining environment with flowers, service was excellent, waiting time is average, but food was bit salty. We were there for breakfast, no reservations required. Mucin was impressive and perfectly match with intro deco.
Madeleine Radosevic
Had been wanting to try this place ever since it opened! There's nothing I love more than a good brunch! So after all this time I finally made it to Anouk and decided to order the smashed avocado with some poached eggs. First impression was it was ridiculously loud in the café. I understand cafes are busy on weekends and therefore more noise is expected (I used to work at a café for years so believe me I know how busy it can get!). It was so loud I could barely have a conversation with my partner. All the tables were so jammed together it was uncomfortable. And to to top it all off, my breakfast was very average. Smashed avocado with poached eggs is a pretty hard meal to get wrong, it's basically your simple basic brunch meal. Wasn't anything wrong with how it was cooked, it tasted fine. Left me feeling very underwhelmed. Don't see myself coming back here anytime soon unfortunately :( maybe I'll give it another go on a weekday but with so many other café options in the area and after this experience, I highly doubt it.

We had a wonderful time at Anouk. The service was warm and welcoming and the food was lovely. There was a bit of a wait for the food, but it's Mothers' Day and that's probably why. We ordered the shakshuka, house smoked salmon and French toast pancakes. The shakshuka was wonderfully spiced. It was a treat to eat. The house smoked salmon was really great. It came with polenta and potato and was seasoned well. I'd have loved it if they gave more salmon though. The French toast pancakes were a great way to end the meal. It was sweet, but very flavourful. Overall, a wonderful place to visit for brunch.

Went for an early lunch. Nice atmosphere. Good coffee, wait staff were superb and polite. Super happy with the quality of my meal too. I will definitely go again .

I've had lunch at Anouk Café today for the first time. I chose their creamy risotto with asparagus, mascarpone and Pecorino cheese. I'm Italian and trust me when I say that risotto was delicious! Rice was cooked really well, and I loved the combination between sweet mascarpone and tasty Pecorino.<br/>The place is supercute and the staff is very kind.<br/>Good job guys!
Katie Norbury
I got told off for grabbing a drink of water as it was table service but had been waiting five minutes for any form of table service. The food here is pretty good, nothing major to rave over. If you're just heading out for brunch there's plenty of places in the area that are just as nice and much less crowded.
Ms.jen.ann
Simple, delicious, fantastic service. Staff have often made this experience just lovely. They often remember names, which is touching. Nice strong coffee. Would definitely go back, when feeling splurgy.

A good breaky cafe with an interesting menu. It's a good place for a more gourmet breaky. Love the croquets and also the apple turnover with bacon on the menu right now. But I would eat here everyday if they bought back chilli cream corn
Anthea
Beautiful decor and ambiance. Lovely and timely service. Soft poached eggs were not runny as would be expected. Meals were filling & nicely presented but not exceptional. Still a 4/5 experience.
5mins_more_sleep
Honestly? It was OK but i expected more from the reviews.. Sorry guys! I want to love it but my soft poached eggs weren't runny, the Cajun burger wasn't spicy or a burger in fact & the gravlax was super salty & such a small serving. Service was lovely, as was the decor but I think we'll try somewhere else before going back.

Having taken a short break from waking up too early in the mornings, two friend and I found ourselves in Paddington last Saturday morning, having decided to meet early and grab some brunch at Anouk together before partaking in a larger group outing. . We arrived to the super busy Cafe, bustling with diners both inside and outside. Thankfully the wait for a table was relatively short, and we had a table cleared for us and we were seated within 10 minutes.
Alison Read
If you like bread, eggs or bacon then you have your Mecca. We went for lunch today - they don't take bookings for less than 6 people. Our waitress was lovely and explained the menu and drinks to us. As we were in a hurry we each ordered a main and drink.<br/>Burgers were huge and available in gluten free bread. I chose a risotto with vegetables and mascarpone- it was a very small serve. The others all enjoyed their burgers including one gf version. <br/>Drinks are teas, smoothies and muddled drinks with fizz. I suspect this place is very popular with the breakfast crowd- lunch was disappointing for me. There was very limited choice also for vegetarians.<br/>

Anouk never fails to impress me, with amazing food and yummy drinks this is one of my favorite cafes. The customer service here is next level and I could not say a bad word about this place!
Gladys Chang
This place went above and beyond with their customer service and the food was exceptional. It felt special to have the head chef come out to take our orders and was able to accommodate any special dietary requirements without any fuss. We'll definitely be returning to this amazing place for their scrumptious dishes and great hospitality!
Suzie Dorsett
What I love most about Anouk is that after being there only twice, the lovely staff remembered what coffee I drink :) I now frequent this cafe and continue to be impressed. Good service is something that should be acknowledged & appreciated more often!
Tracey Lovejoy
Really nice food! Quinoa porridge is delicious, frappes are yum and the service is very good. Background music was nice and not overpowering and we had a pleasant experience.
Jessica Walton
Very popular place. A bit pricey but the food is very delicious. There are a lot of other paddington cafes, and I would say this is medium level on par with them. The food is tasty, but kinda the same old as the rest.
Melinda Jenny May Salter
Totally hit the spot this morning! I do recommend the Two Toast! Lovely home made pesto with moorish mozzarella and lush rocket! Accompanied with a good coffee this place has made my day. Whilst they do serve "Betty bowls" of coffee they are a good concept but really if I wanted one that big I would order two separate coffees to ensure they are warm when they hit my lips. Great little place!!!
Sophia
Gorgeous little cafe, great service and coffee, nice menu with some unique options. Food delicious. We will definitely be back :)
KTY
Gear little cafe with unique flavours. The chilli corn was particularly tasty, just the right level of spice. Also pictured is a haloumi and bacon dish, super tasty. The food is a bit pricey but great quality.

Had a really nice lunch here with a friend last week. I had the folded omelette with Thai style crab salad. What a great combo, the sweet crab meat with lime and basil and coconut in the salad folded in between the omelette was delicious. The place was packed and the staff did really well accommodating customers and getting orders out of the kitchen. Looking forward to going back to try more food.
Domoto
Wrong coffee order, wrong dish order. Waiters and waitress chatting without even looking around and do not notice that customers waving. Will not come ever.
Terence Lee
Service was good but food was more on the mediocre side. I ordered the angel hair pasta with scallops while my friend got their pork belly and both were not very memorable. I guess my search for good brunch in Brisbane continues.
Lumr
I used to visit Anouk frequently, however after the last few experiences have left a bad taste in my mouth. The customer service has gone completely down hill, with some staff members not even bothering to speak to you, let alone make eye contact while you pay for your meal (with exception to the lovely middle aged lady that waits the tables). I ordered the smashed peas on sourdough with ricotta and tomato, and was thoroughly dissatisfied. Every aspect of the dish was dry. Although it was still edible, paying $20 for a sub par meal is off putting to say the least. To top it off I ordered a poached egg on the side which was essentially a boiled egg . Overall, Anouk has proved to be a disappointment and I won't be going back.
The Gastronaut
Yeah pretty good I guess. <br/>Would like fresh juice on the menu.<br/>And I had the Thai omelette with crab meat. It was nearly well balanced but would have been perfect if it had some tamarind sauce for sour component instead of a wedge of lemon (lemon and omelette...?) and a hot sauce option like Sri racha and a bit of fish sauce for salty. I gather the palettes of the locals are not as adventurous as mine own. Wife had the mushrooms with poached eggs and was tasty. They even made a little croissant French toast for our Bub to order which was lovely of them. <br/>They sit among a slew of other Cafes many of which are as good
Jen Dorjee
Certainly nice enough. Sat outside for brekkie with friends. We were promptly served by the owner I think. Very efficient and friendly. Coffee good but not excellent. ..friend had indian scrambled and said it was good, but got the feeling not great, I had granola..same response. So all in all pleasant, nothing at all wrong...but just not excellent. That being said...not quite sure what was missing.
ElCraigo
This place is always packed, so gives an indication of their popularity.<br/>This isn't your standard 'bacon and egg's' brekky, the dishes are well thought out.<br/>The only reason I wouldn't go here is purely the chance of not getting a table!

So disappointed with the customer service here. I picked my brother up after a red eye flight and decided to take him out for breakfast before his drive to his accommodation on the Sunshine Coast. We decided to eat here as it was open at 6:30am and seemed inviting. We were first served by a woman, who was lovely. However, we were later served by a taller man whose service felt short and condescending to say the least. He placed coffees down on the table without actually acknowledging us, when I thanked him for our food, he simply didn't reply to me, and at the end of our meal he simply walked past and slammed the bill on the table - again without acknowledgment. With each attendance to our table, both my brother, myself, his partner and mine all felt further unwelcome. We deeply wish the food itself was good enough to save the experience, but we felt feeling we'd paid too much for what was an uncomfortable morning together.

Absolutely loved the vibe and food of Anouk! It is definitely worth every penny and offers a wide variety of food and drinks. Unfortunately, had the worst service there and felt incredibly unwelcome even though the place was barely busy (Friday). It is a shame because the food and vibe were so nice but I don't want to go back with the chance of the being served so poorly again.

Great food great service and GREAT music + atmosphere. <br/>So many dishes on the menu to choose from and all sound so delicious so I will be returning for many more meals here! Fabulous! P.s drinks menu is THE BEST
Auckland Food Tours
What a great find. Went here on Sunday morning for breakfast and found it difficult to choose what to eat as it all sounded so good. Finally decided on the stuffed sardines and the breakfast special. The sardines (think kippers but not smoked) were excellent as was the bacon sandwich. Washed it down with excellent coffee and a delicious coconut and pineapple drink.<br/>I also liked the fact that they were open so early and were warm and welcoming.

Had brunch I dare to say this could be one of the very best cafes that Brisbane has to offer. Very warm and casual decor with tentative staff and prompt timing on delivery. Our dishes were simple yet complex in flavours. Nicely balanced and always made fresh with the most beautiful ingredients. Highly recommended and definitely worth a visit! Will return again soon!

I came here for breakfast not long ago with a friend. Such a warm welcome by the lovely waitress, she was lots of fun and made dining in for breakfast great. The food was so yummy!! She was helpful when I said I wanted lots of extras but wasn't sure what I could have. Will definitely come back one day!

I had a lovely breakfast with my best friend at Anouk this morning. The staff were extremely friendly and the menu has so much to offer. The food also came out so quickly and tasted amazing. The other suggestion I have is to put bottles of water on the table.
Coffee Jo
another yummy Paddington cafe. been there only once, but it was really good. staff was nice and helpful.

Headed here for a coffee and quick lunch with work colleague visiting from Sydney today.  We agreed that the service was amazing;  spinach soup topped with prosciutto was divine; and coffee great.  Atmosphere was so much more comfortable than CBD options.

Bentwood chairs, banquettes and mirrors against distressed brick walls give this cafe a sense of place and luxury. The menu ranges across the continents with a cornucopia of choices, complimented by a cabinet of scrumptious cakes and slices. We were warmly welcomed with our orders taken quickly, so that we were very soon in that sweet spot where you have ordered something amazing and are waiting with taste buds whetted. Our food, when it arrived, did not disappoint. The nom nom hash was a great breakfast dish with all the veggies the doctor could have ordered, and the harissa spiced mince was an exotic start to the day. It was slightly on the salty side but the accompanying chutney and raita balanced that well. Anouk also does a great range of fruit sodas and shakes, which were a refreshing change.

Had the French toast with apple crumble and berries and it was amazing. Accompanied by Irish Breakfast tea with milk. My mum's meal was a bit of a let down and her coffee was average. Great setting though and the service was amazing.

Great service; ok food; overpriced.. Went here a few weeks ago for lunch. Service was excellent - we were seated immediately, and offered drinks straight away. <br/><br/>Staff are very competent and friendly (actually, almost bordering on being too friendly, crossing the boundary from service provider to attempted friend, which I don't really appreciate. But that is a small quibble.) <br/><br/>The coffee was great and quick to arrive. <br/><br/>The food was a bit of a let-down. I had crispy pork belly and salad from the specials menu. The pork skin was not properly crackled, being leathery and very hard to chew or cut. Worse, the portion was very small for the price. Really only a few mouthfuls of actual pork. I felt a bit ripped off. Flavours were very good though. <br/><br/>Will visit again, but I hope the next time that the food matches the service.

Amazing. Amazing. Get the avo smash

Heavenly food, Very Amiable Staff. Breakfast experience this morning on Australia Day was utter delight. Greeted warmly and settled right in at 7:30am amongst comfy chic decor, enjoying the beautiful sunlight the cafe invites in. Fans, air-con, familial hospitality, the perfect soy latte. Lush scrambled eggs and garlic-butter mushrooms, hit-the-spot muesli, and that berry jam on figgy fruit toast. Captain's Bfast Tea and Paddington's best scratch-ingredients baked muffin to close, before bustle picked up at 8:30am. <br/>Must-do.<br/>Thank you.
George
Noisy. Way too noisy. Jarring music. Could not talk. Lots of people here, so I'm sure food ok. Coffee was average. Everyone including staff looked bored. We couldn't leave fast enough.

Seriously great food and service. This is the first and probably only internet review I will write. I have been here a number of times and on every occasion the food has been delicious- even when I ordered a meal which I was unsure of I really enjoyed it, the flavour combinations are amazing.<br/>The staff are extremely accommodating and nothing is too much effort for them, they have been so on every time I've eaten here. I don't think there are any negatives for this establishment, you can get regular service and feel like you are being attended to even when the cafe is operating at peak times. Thankyou so much Anouk for providing such great service and food, I will be coming back.

Love this place! Really enjoy our breakfast here on the weekends!
Netkith
Amazing food. Happening place and ambience. They make an excellent variety of food including for vegetarians. Food is truly an art here. The only drawback is that their menu changes frequently which means your favourites my not be there next time you go there! :(
Elizabeth
What a lovely establishment. Good food meets relaxed atmosphere meets divine coffee meets kind and friendly staff. Perfect experience and will be back! Thanks Anouk xx
MYFOODREVIEW
My favourite breakfast place in Brisbane. We go every weekend and it is always consistently good. Because we go so often only wish they would change their menu a little more often. But that doesn't matter too much as we keep going back!
GoodTimeGal93
Fall From Grace. The glory days are gone here - no longer would the wait on a weekend morning be worth your while. The food is underwhelming, the service, while friendly, doesn't make up for the toe-curling prices. Happy to pay a premium for the best, but certainly not happy to pay for 'meh'. A shame that its come to this
Carrie
Quaint Cafe. I had the creamed mushrooms in a bowl with cheese soldiers - so much flavour and a generous serving too!<br/><br/>The atmosphere was great as was the service.<br/><br/>Will be back!

Amazing food all the time excellent service from judy. haloumi supreme awesome!!!!
Zoe Chen
The food was good, I guess. There was not a big range in the menu and it was quite overpriced for what you get, considering you feel the need to add extras for basic things. However, the service was awful, they were very pushy and rude. It made the experience unpleasant despite the good food. The food was not good enough to outweigh the negative vibe of the staff. I would not go back as it was not worth it. The service was terrible!
Eurofighter
Great food, coffee and service. A fabulous spot to have quality cafe food. The service is excellent. The coffee (merlo) is well made. We had the thai curry and the avocado special. The thai curry was a little watery but had great flavour. It made with pita bread - some rice would be good also. The avocado special would benefit from the addition of Meridith Goat fetta. Lovely place, great ambience.

My boyfriend and I had a fantastic late breakfast here on a Sunday. We ordered the one-pan fry up, and the quinoa arancini with a side of house smoked salmon. We were incredibly impressed with the quality of the food, the coffee, and most notably the friendliness and attentiveness of the staff. We were served by both a male and a female wait staff member and both were incredibly accommodating and talkative. Will come again!
Laura.james1
Amazing breakfast!. My family and I came here for breakfast on Mothers' Day - the staff were incredibly helpful and the food was exquisite. There's a new menu too, so two of us ordered the granola with berry compote and greek yoghurt, and the other two ordered the eggs with turkish bread and balsamic tomato. The produce is of a very high quality and the dishes were delicately flavoured and prepared. Definitely going back there again!
Rosemary Beard Cafe
Must breakfast or Brunch. Had a great breakfast, the sourdough was thick but so soft, bacon fried to near perfection, poached eggs were soft with creamy yolks and the house made hollandaise was great but was lacking only about a teaspoon on each eggs was there. Overall a must for good food/breakfast. <br/><br/>The coffee was good solid but not great.
Jean Emily
Overpriced and overrated.. This place is nauseatingly overpriced. The food is nice I suppose but in my opinion each meal is priced about $10 over what it should be. $18 for two tiny pieces of pane with a scraping of smashed peas? I don't think so. <br/>The day I was here it was so busy that I couldn't even have a conversation. And we had to wait a very long time for our food. Not sure why it's so busy.
Nicola
Was a nice breakfast, tried it out due to all the great reviews. However it is very noisy! And my coffee was so terrible and weak I had to send it back. Service was very good and meals were good but nothing rave worthy. Was nice, but would try other cafes around the area before returning.
Quan Tran
Delicious, Fresh but Pricey. The coffee was decent and not extraordinary, which is as much as I can say for the service after the waiter forgot the table existed although it was a busy weekend.<br/><br/>I do enjoy cafe's that have signature drinks and food such as Anouk's home made ginger beer ($7) but alas I did not have a chance to try it.<br/><br/>The best tables were outside so we set up camp there. The food was fresh and I detected a salsa theme as they were often served with the brunch meals.<br/><br/>I would definitely dine here again but the price is a bit prohibitive just on principle. The servings were pretty small and the bang for your buck wasn't great.<br/><br/>The dessert cabinet was the most extensive I've seen and they were all well priced ($3-5) and resembled more like petite fours and were delicious!
Rachel
Great!. Fantastic service, great food and an overeall wonderful experience! Can't wait to go again :)

Sensational!!. Anouik has never let me down, I always have high hopes and are never disappointed.
Lisa
Good customer service. Very overpriced. Underwhelming. Clever menu as looks reasonably priced but they leave off one expected item which you then add as extra which pushes breakfast up to +$20. Ie poached eggs, tomato, Turkish = $16.50. Add bacon $5.50. Won't be back.
Pennywilliams
Overpriced and underwhelming. Went to Anouk with work colleagues for breakfast. I had 2 poached eggs with 2 TINY slices of Turkish bread and a side of rubbery bacon and it cost over $20. Try seated our party of 7 at two tiny tables which barely held our oversized plates. We had barely finished eating and still had juice and coffee left when they dumped the bill on the table and cleared our.ptable in an obvious bid to make us leave.<br/>There are countless cafes in the area who are friendlier , with better food and service.
Rubyburns18
Fantastic!. Anouk is consistently delicious, every time. Whether its breakfast, lunch or just coffee, this Paddington institution has you coming back over and over. Why try anywhere else! The flatfields are absolutely incredible and service is always quick and friendly, no matter how busy it may be. I highly recommend after living in Paddington for over 3 years, I would not try anywhere else.

It is Ok, but that is all. I can only say that it is ok, nothing more, nothing less. There was nothing about the dish or the coffee that makes me think this is a place I would love to return to.<br/><br/>It was an ok meal, the service was good. However I wasn’t that impressed with either the food or the prices. <br/><br/>I have been here once and I probably won't go back for just an ok.

Good Food. Love it!

Well...what a wonderful experience!!! Snuck in for late brekkie with 2 Gfs on a monday thinking would be quiet day....well we were wrong....place was full!!! The friendly staff recommended the Roti, Cheesy Polenta and Avocado Mash for us....sharing these dishes we found them delicious and just what we needed!!! Their range of unique cold shakes and muddles are unlike anything ive seen anywhere else!!!! Fun friendly staff, great food...def recommend to others to visit!

GONE DOWNHILL. This place used to be good but our recent breakfast there was disappointing to say the least.....perhaps they've had a change in chefs?? It was amongst the most underwhelming & overpriced breakfasts we've had in a while. My husband's breakfast in particular was very bland as well as missing some of the key elements listed on the menu such as the caramelised onion and one of the two eggs that were supposed to come with the meal. They were also incredible inflexible with the meals in that they would not substitute the normal bread with gluten free bread in either of the two dishes I was interested in.....this is despite the fact that at the bottom of the menu they offer the option of gluten-free bread. Overall it was very plain, run of the mill food for an above average price. There are far better breakfast places that actually cost a lot less. We will not be returning after our last experience.

I had one of the best brekkies I have ever had in Brisbane at Anouk! Great service, both our meals were fantastic (I had the brekky bruschetta...AMAZING!) and we would definitely go back! Coffee isn't amazing but I'm not a fan of Merlo at the best of times but it wouldn't put me off going back....

Wednesday Breakfast. I had the pleasure of eating breakfast at Anouk on Wednesday this week with some close friends. We were greeted at the door and experienced exceptional service throughout our time at Anouk. I decided to try the avocado and feta smash, which is a 'go to' for me at many restaurants and loved it. I wouldn't say that Anouk is a place that I would go to frequently, it had good food and good service, I would recommend it to anyone who want a great breakfast experience. The only criticism that I would point out is that during my experience there I did not notice anything that stood out to differentiate it from other good breakfast spots in Brisbane.
Homerofbrisbane
Anouk. I find it consistently better than average for breakfast. Don't know why people berate the service as we get good service when we go there.
Tyler Brown
Still good..... We went for breakfast here last Monday morning, and while they no longer have our favourite mince dish, the food was still great. The service was even better, though. The new staff member was so friendly - I don't know her name, but she used to serve me from another cafe when I worked in the city, and she is always so friendly and helpful. If Anouk's staff are all like her, then we'll keep coming back.
AJ
Good food however the service was very poor for the price, takes them a while to notice you when you walk in, then when the waiter came to our table there was no "hello" just asked if we were ready to order, took our food order then ran away so fast after he wrote the order down had to chase him down to get our coffee order. Asked for a water and response was that I had to get it myself as they were too busy...a polite way to say it would just be"please help yourself", waiter never came back to check on anything...for the price the service was poor, I get better service at McDonald's!

This place looks like heaven but tastes like a bad hangover! I went there one Sunday with my family and my boyfriend. We are all well versed on the food scene and this place failed to deliver. We went in March on a hot day and they served us tepid tap water that smelled if chlorine! The miso eggs were like a rubber frisbee and the ploughman's lunch would feed a sparrow, not my hungry man! I ordered the bacon snd eggs with a side if 'delicious' mushrooms nut was so disappointed with my entire meal, it was stone cold and the mushrooms were tasteless! Do not go to Anouk! Unless you are a tool and a knob. Go anywhere else!

Anouk - Paddington, Brisbane. There is plenty of joie de vivre to be found in this Euro-inspired little cafe. It is like they took the best elements of eating out in Western Europe and managed to bring them over to the English-speaking world and boy does it pay off in spades. The cafe is very charming and relaxing, with the inherent encouragement to enjoy your food as well as pay attention to the overlooked aspects of what makes fine food what it is - it needs to be seen to see what I mean. <br/><br/>Each time my dining buddy and I try one of the most acclaimed places for breakfast around the city spread, surprises seem to pop up not the least unusual and inventive items for breakfast. Here, the breakfast menu is set out like the traditional idea of having a second breakfast with light options at the beginning and others to folow. Thought tempting, I did not as such. <br/><br/>The service is suited to a place like this, it is good and quick with the waiters going for what they need to do keeping a professionalism about them. They are quick to ask if you want refills on coffee (I did have two) and take time to explain the specials. It is safe to say, they are poised for offering their service and that is admirable in any kind of field. <br/><br/>To begin, I ordered a double-shot cappuccino; this passed my test. The espresso and milk combination was smooth and elegant. The baristas here know how to make great dynamics of flavour, body and all-around feel in their coffee. When a coffee is good, often that is an optimistic sign of things to come - and it delivered. <br/><br/>Their menu is seasonal and rotates incrementally. First up, my dining buddy got the special - which did sound good - which was a roti topped with bacon, tomato, haloumi, fresh spinach, rocket and fried onion. I managed to try a bit of the halouim, tomato and roti; the tomato was fresh and juicy with the roti cooked just right in the pan (nothing like in an Indian eatery) and the haloumi had a crust on it with perfection in cooking in the middle. In other words, this could be a twist on the big breakfast. <br/>I ordred their French toast: it was a savoury twist on the old favourite. It was infused with parmesan cheese and lemon, and came with an ultimately generous portion of goat's cheese and a side of sauteed spinach and pinenuts. I got an order of bacon on the side. The bacon was some of the most perfectly cooked bacon that I have ever tried; there was literally no bad bits on it. Even the fat part was cooked enough that it became saitable enough to chew. It also had that brilliant salitness that bacon needs to be known for having. <br/>Bacon or no bacon, the meal I got was substantially sized. They cut the slices of bread really thick that it needed to cutlery to eat it. The bread was still soft and chewey on the inside with the parmesan throughout the bread being really good - sometimes strong and sometimes subtle. The goat's cheese on the side was delicious as a spread and had a contrasting flavour and texture opposing the sharp parmesan. <br/>However, it seemed that the spinach left the best impression - at least on my dining buddy. It was not drowned in anything particularly and co-operated with the toasted pine-nuts. There was a slight bit of smokiness to it. Topping off the entire meal, they really got inventive making a savoury paradigm of a usually sweet breakfast (even though that often is served with bacon regardless) and the whole thing managed to gel really well. It was an elegantly done and is a taste test in the overlooked aspects of fine cooking - there must be a huge French influence here that shatters preconceived notions. <br/><br/>I finished off with a latte, which was good and it was definitive proof that Anouk does good coffee here. It was smooth and hot. Not the strongest or boldest of the coffees I have had, but it was well suited to the location. <br/><br/>From the moment my dining buddy and I stepped in here (after a bit of confused searching for it) to the first sip of coffee to the last bite of breakfast, this place did not falter once. They have a big appeal with location and decor here and it felt like the place you want to eat at during the day. Much recomended, there is reason to the hype.

On the decline. Have eaten at Anouk a number of times, it appears there has been a change of ownership - for the worse. On Saturdays it was near impossible to arrive at 8.30am on a sunny morning and just walk in and sit down. This should have been the first warning sign.<br/><br/>As we walked in, the young female manager, MD, or what ever her overly important role is, put her hand up and said go to the door and we will seat you from there. So we were seated at one of the 7 vacant tables inside, only to be served average food. <br/><br/>It certainly is no a popular cafe any longer. Time to try another in the area.<br/><br/>If anyone knows where the owner of what was the Gunshop, then anouk, and now... is please post as She knows how to run a cafe.
Lindsey
So so. Anouk used to be our 'go to' place for breakfast in Paddington but of late the menu, which reads well, has resulted in just so-so food. It's just the little touches that are lacking that would make a huge difference e.g. you need to help yourself to water and when I asked for vegemite for my toast I was given a big jar that had been hacked at, perhaps by other diners.<br/><br/>The positives are the juices - they are divine.<br/><br/>I have also been to a private function at Anouk, which was fantastic. Food was inspired and the rustic ambience of the venue lent itself well to the event.<br/><br/>Having said all that - I don't think we'll be back anytime soon. Would rather try out other food haunts in the area.

Amazing Coffee but Overpriced!. Best coffee I've ever had. Food is pretty good, but very overpriced.

Don't waste your money!!!. I read about all these great reviews about this cafe by some of my friends and on facebook, went with great expectation but come home with GREAT disappointment. Not only that, when I posted my review on their facebook page, they deleted it. No wonder all the reviews are saying good thing about this really ordinary cafe. The muffin we ordered was rock hard and cold, didn't even bother to warm it up. The hot choc and ice choc was really ordinary and way too sweet. The breakfast was something I can easily make at home. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY. TRY GUN shop cafe which is much much nicer!!!

Hit and miss but mostly good. I've been going to Anouk for maybe 3 or 4 years now and every time it's usually spot on. Food is consistently good, sometimes takes a long time to arrive at the table though. Drinks are amazing however, like the food they can take a while to come out. Lately I've been having the breakfast bruschetta which I love for a light breakfast and a house made ice tea. I usually go for a week day breakfast but last weekend decided on whim for Sunday breakfast. Didn't mind waiting for a table but the noise inside was absolutely horrendous, I could barely hear the person sitting opposite me. The noise is definitely amplified once you get a few people in there. Staff are usually really friendly. All in all, a pleasant place for breakfast as long as you don't mind a bit of a noisy crowd.
Forever Hungry
Expected More. Maybe my expectations were just too high. <br/>The place was nice. The juices are definitely worth trying. <br/>They had a rather small menu. Food was good though - had a hearty, rustic feel to it - a bit on the bland side though.
AllyMallyCat
Terrible!. The waiter was rude, the menu lacked the essential basics of breakfast and the price did not reflect the quality of food!<br/>Firstly, i felt like i'd simply ingested oil for breakfast? Secondly the menu doesn't say there will be a giant beef patty included in my meal, but there it was, making me feel sick at the sight of partially cooked meat first thing in the morning!<br/>Lastly the coffee was lukewarm. Instant decaf coffee tastes better than that did.<br/>We left angry and disappointed and frustrated! Will not be returning
Barbara Lndsy
Menu interpretation required!. What a wank. When the waiter asked what we thought of our breakfast our faces must have said it all cause she wiped the coffee prices of our bill. Who knew that a "naked burger with egg, bacon & haloumi" would come with a giant meat pattie (mine was mildly raw inside...) and no bread. What was I supposed to mop up my runny egg with? (For the record the egg was also a under-done, the white part was clear still.) There were far too many “sweet curls" (that's code for very oily sweet potato crisps in case you didn't know), and we couldn’t even order some sour dough toast for on the side, they had ran out by 9.30am. <br/><br/>In summery - I'm glad we didn’t have to wait for a table, this place is full of pretentious over-tones and requires meal descriptions written in non-hipster language (otherwise prepare yourself for an incomprehensible menu).
Letuseat
Lovin this cafe!!. Im only new to bris, but i feel so at home when i walk into this cafe! its got its own little personality, fellow customers are lovely the staff the same. The menu speaks for itself and to my tummy! Awesome! Do yourself a favour and be there! Eat!

Get the Juice. The juices are so cold and refreashing!!! My favourite place for it

The worst breakfast I've ever had. I have previously been to Anouk and the breakfast was always good but I went last weekend and it was the worst food I have ever been served in a cafe. Apparently there is a new menu and if you are a previous fan, don't go in expecting the same quality. I was served what could be considered as a side salad with pieces of toast and the person dinning with me recieved basically a bowl of cream corn with some toast on the side. Not what you'd expect for $15-$20. There are a heap of better places nearby, try them instead.
Abbie
Anouk is cute and quirky. Has different menu items and good food. Service is pretty poor though. Staff aren't as friendly as other breakfast joints around. Kinda ruins the experience.
Allan
Terrific. The best juices in Brisbane! Food and atmosphere is great.
Sam
I don't understand the hype. The food was average with a price tag that was very overpriced. Two pouched eggs and two strips of Turkish bread was $14! There are nicer places in paddington that you will leave filling more satisfied.
Elle
Nothing amazing considering the price.

Went for breakfast and whilst lining up wasn't an issue - lined up for about 10 mins to get a table for 5 - lining up for sub standard food was disappointing! I ordered the chèvre which was quite tasty but minuscule in size and I was left searching for the dukkah it supposedly came with. Two friends ordered the poached eggs which were ridiculously overcooked and served with two scraps of Turkish bread and one very sorry looking tomato and absolutely no sauce. Whilst I have no complaints about the service, the standard of the food was very poor and left me wondering why people bother lining up weekend after weekend because I certainly won't be wasting my time in that line again!!
Raggedyandy81
Disappointed and still hungry. I went to Anouk with high hopes and left feeling underwhelmed and hungry. Ordered the ploughmans platter and received 3 tiny gherkins, some very average relish, cheese and bread. Also when a menu says "baguette" I expect something other than a few slices of mini toast. The service was non-existent - we (a group of 4) all asked for water but in the end we had to get it ourselves. Will not be going back.
Eekimus
Arrived at 11, had to wait, as she said the chef needed a break...which was ok. Had to wait over 15mins for water and someone to take our order. Asked waiters multiple times. Food was average- small portions, lacked seasoning and overpriced. Still hungry afterwards.
Jakeypoparino
Great ambiance. I had a Peri Peri sardines that was in short a fresh and flavoursome dish. Downsides was packed in the restaurant like a sardine and my dining guest had a fruit sticker remaining on the wedge of lemon, which was a little disconcerting.
J
Breakfast Review. We waited about 20 mins on a Saturday morning for a table which is Ok, but the service was not great. It took ages to take our order and it all arrived at different times. Then they took plates away while 1 of us while still eating.<br/>Food was nice but very over-priced.

I love everything about this place. Amazing coffee, great service and delicious food. Get in early on weekend or be prepared to wait as this place is very popular.

I love Anouk! The food is simple but tasty and the menu changes often enough so we don't get bored. Service is always efficient and delightful - suave, funky waitresses and cool background music. Everything I love at breakfast time. And amazing coffee!

My regular and a favourite. My partner and I live near Anouk and I really love going there early on a weekend morning. The food is lovely, the service is always friendly and it's just got a fantastic atmosphere. It's always full of cyclists and people who have just done their weekend exercise and there is something lovely about people being out and active on the weekend. Anouk gives you the feeling of really starting your weekend or really enjoying the middle of it. Fantastic!

Absolutely brilliant food coupled with an chilled and funky ambience

Food was good but not amazing. Hubby ordered the crab omelette which apparently comes with a salad but was more of a garnish on top of the omelette. I just wanted some poached eggs with some bacon and gluten free bread which was not a set dish but the waitress said was not a problem. Paid the bill but then realised I had been charged for the dish of eggs, tomato and Turkish bread $13.50 plus $4 for the bacon plus another few $ for some gf bread. Very expensive for bacon and eggs indeed. Questioned the waitress who said she would refund me the over charged amount at the end of the day. That was 1 week ago...

Service was friendly and professional. The omlette was full of crab and served with vietnamese mint and fish sauce .. It worked. If any thing the omlette was a little dry but id have it again. They serve good loose leaf teas and a fruit and fizz muddle. Excellent coffee and cakes

Average food. The service here was exceptional. The eggs were not runny which is a complete failure for any chef. two minute pieces of turkish bread. the worst banana smoothie i have ever had in my life. the banana was green given the taste and it was purely milk mixed with a frozen banana and honey stuck to the bottom. do not know where urbanspoon is getting its reviews from and whether or not they are legitimate based on the ratings seen here.
RMS
Finally crossed this one off the list after hearing so many good reviews and left with mixed feelings. First of all, decor was lovely, we were seated promptly and the upon reading the menu, we were absolutely spoilt for choice- so many nice sounding breakfast dishes. The food came out relatively quickly and was tasty- although, to be honest nothing extraordinary. We ordered the housemade muesli and mushrooms stuffed with sweet potato and feta on truffle oil toast. Opting for the anouk homemade iced tea proved to be a winner however. Only letdown would have to be the service. We were never once offered water, which the other tables seemed to receive and the waitress, was maybe a bit under the weather or something because her lack of enthusiasm was noticeable. There were plenty of staff and not that many tables filled so I don't see any justification for negligence. That said, benefit of the doubt that it was just an 'off' day; this place is still worth a visit.

Easy mornings. Anouk is absolutely stunning. The food is excellent, but the breakfast menu is very limited. Haloumi cooked perfectly though!

Lovely Service, Amazing flavours. Had lunch a couple of weeks ago, had the duck egg & asparagus - perfect flavour combination, also the pate is to die for

Staff were rude. Food was cold and tasteless.
Marie
Great experience. Great staff and gorgeous food - although if you need peace and quiet while you eat, this may not be the place for you. if you enjoy a busy/chatty/high energy atmosphere, then you'll love it.

Popular, fashionable but average service. I used to go to Anouk often and while their food is excellent, I've had too many problems with poor service and haven't been back in more than a year.<br/><br/>I will put up with average service but one thing I simply cannot abide, is when a table is served before you yet they arrived well after you sat down. To me, that's the mortal sin of hospitality. And that has happened more than once at Anouk, so I haven't been back.

This place satisfies every time.

Service great, food disappointing. We went there having read a good review in the courier mail... Got there too late for breakfast, so stayed for lunch. Ordered a cup of cappuccino - disappointing (sour tasting). Then the meals came - my wife ordered the duck pancake - duck was too dry and had a weird smoked flavour to it... And I ordered the fishcake - which was ok, but costing about 20 quid, not worth it...<br/><br/>Probably will try next time for breakfast, but definitely not going again for lunch.<br/><br/>BTW service was great though.

Cute place but why start the lunch menu at 1pm. Crazy idea. Not cool , just silly.
Bon Appetit
Both times I've been here the ditz seated others Infront of us (as we were waiting patiently to be seated instead of barging our way through) .... But... If you can tolerate all the Paddington 'wankers' that dine here... You will find the food is exceptional. Great Breakfast!!!

Great for breakfast! Lunch is a real let down. Small portions, limited menu options & little technique on display. Had the pork belly last week which was sickly sweet & unedible. Thick molasses slightly burnt sauce. Brekky is a winner! Grab a nice table outside in the sun & enjoy!

Cosy cafe with yummy food, friendly staff. A third visit to Anouk and still impressed. Staff are really friendly and the food is delicious. I was pleasantly surprised with the hot chocolate - made with real chocolate pieces.

Awesome - great food - great service - very considerate to parents of young children.
I_like_food
Pretty ok. Really liked the location and style of the place. The food is above average.. not the best breakfast I had, but was enjoyable.
Glenda
Great - but LOUD. We are 'oldies'. Two longtime friends came to visit, and having been often for coffee at Anouk, we booked for lunch. The food was excellent, the staff attentive (though we could not get the table we asked for when booking - not a worry). So lunch was a success. But why have the muzak so LOUD? It was intrusive, to say the least - we could just make ourselves heard above it. There was a good crowd for lunch, so the buzz of conversation would have been ample. The renovation has made Anouk slightly bare so very acoustic, it seems.<br/>I love Anouk, but I shan't be lunching (inside) again for quite some time.

Close this door. I used to come twice weekly for breakfast... This winter, new staff let the front door open when it.s 10-12 degrees outside, so that you have to eat on the cold when the place used to be cosy.<br/><br/>They are so rude that they refuse to close it when asked.<br/>This morning they even had ceiling fans on at 7am in case the breeze from the door is not enough :-)<br/>too bad I have to find another place.<br/>Food is good but menu does not change that often anymore.

FANTASTIC. Good service , great food , fantastic coffee .

A really good experience
Lunch With The Premier
A fairly unimaginative, standard menu. Not great for kids but they catered for us with a smile. Nothing you can't do at home.

Never written a review on a restaurant before stumbling into anouk. Had to repetitively ask for drinks every time our table asked for some. food was quote ' sorry was that the one you ordered off me? I didn't write it down ' food portions were fit for a two year old. Off the place !! from now on, rubies across the road in paddington... Always!
...........
Food was good, listed as kid friendly but no high chairs available!

Great Breakfast. I had a lovely breakfast experience at Anouk, the only issue was deciding what to order! I ended up with the pumpkin and goats cheese omelette which was great. Very generous serving, not to oily and nice and light & fluffy. I would definitely order again. The service was very prompt considering how busy it was. I would return.

Best in Brisbane - No Question!. Anouk has been producing fantastic quality cafe food with impeccable service for years. Yes, sometimes you have to wait but it is always worth it - that's why there are so may people in the queue! Even Jamie Oliver knows it's the best place to stop in Brisbane for a great coffee and amazing food.

It bubbles and it squeaks..... ...and tastes amazing. The coffee was lovely, and I ended up having four. Oops.

After reading lots of great reviews I just had to try Anouk out for myself. There was a line when we got here which got me more excited about the place assuming it must be great! When we got a seat I thought I would try the lime and mint iced tea. To be honest I don't know why they called it iced tea it tasted more like a mohito no tea flavour at all! Dont order this drink if u have a hangover. As a vegetarian nothing looked too exciting but I thought I Would try the mushrooms With Fetta and spinach. It wasn't bad at all but really wasn't anything exciting and over priced for what it was. My husband ordered some potato and bacon dish and he loved it! I tried a little without the bacon and I must say it was delicious! Staff where friendly but menu for me was just standard. I just thought the menu would be more creative. Oh and also I ordered a side of poached egg and it looked very clumsy. I might come here again but I don't think I would go out of my way.
Leah
I second the disappointment regarding the "no poached eggs" decision. Was tempted to hop out the back and poach my own. At least that made my breakfast decision easier, as I opted to go for a breakfast option which did not include eggs. On a positive note, the service (other than the bad news about the eggs) was good, staff were friendy, and atmosphere nice.
Natalie
A little disappointed!. I went to Anouk with a group of girlfriends on 11th March, 2012. The first thing the waitress said to us when we walked in was "we are not doing poached eggs this morning". Why, would a cafe in Paddington not do poached eggs? When you are going to a breakfast place with poached eggs on the menu, you should be able to order this. How hard is it for someone to poach eggs? They were offering fried or scrambled, why not poached?<br/><br/>I got the granola, which was nice but disappointed that I couldn't have any poached eggs?!<br/><br/>I went to anouk cafe again today - 22 Nov 2015. I had eggs, avocado and toast. Whilst it was nice, it wasn't anything special either.... Cute cafe and friendly wait staff but I was not overly impressed by their breakfast!

Favourite hanut. I love Anouk. The food is always great. The atmosphere is lovely - if not a little noisy. The staff are friendly and helpful. Can't bet it for Breakfast on the weekend.<br/><br/>Love the seasonal menus but miss old menu items I've gotten used to!

This cafe is one that I would consider to be the best in Brisbane. Offering a delightful menu and a ravishing desert cabinet, wonderfully warm service and coffee you would drive an extra 10 minutes every morning for. Anouk ticks all the boxes! Recently renovated, it's already appealing space is even more stylish. This thriving little Mecca with aesthetic appeal has impeccable standards and the food plated up tastes as good as it looks. For a treat, try the freshly made banoffi pie, it is worth the calories!

Lovely remodelling.... Nice to see a small twist of "attention to detail.." make its way in during an XMas break. Swinging the counter around, making more seating available, trying to improve service, ques and waiting time was an important "little " step and nice to see a bit of customer satisfaction. Always a lovely meal, and coffee (depends who's making) is usually very good.<br/>Will always be back and highly recommended.

Hovering hot coffee over a baby.... LOVE the new remake here and the menu continues to impress. Wait staff are always cheerful, friendly and accommodating. Food delicious and coffee great too.<br/>Just don't have a baby nearby as for some reason (all 3 coffees ordered), the waitress felt it necessary to hand them over on top of a sleeping infant. Mmmm, clearly no kids or completely clueless. Won't stop me from returning, shall just pop up an umbrella over the top of Master P :)

Posh yet friendly. I arrived at Anouk after 2:30PM. A friendly staff advised me the kitchen was closed and they could offer only drinks such as coffee. I was happy not to be bluntly told "We are closed". The place was full of Frenchy cuteness and they succeeded in delivering it without pretending. All staff was working hard yet stayed very friendly. A few more people came quite late just before closing, and surprisingly, they were also welcome!!! Hope all cafes in Brisbane will adopt this level of customer service soon.

The best breakfast. My wife and i come here for breakfast at least once a week and the service and food is always perfect. They may change staff often but it's always consistenet.

Friendly, warm, welcoming cafe. Great food...and great coffee! Love the ambience of Anouk. Delightful!

The recent refurbishment while looking lovely, has made the interior space unbearably noisy. Having lunch today, our small group of four couldn't hear each other most of the time. The food and service may be good but unless you sit outside or bring ear plugs you won't be able to hear yourself think.

Great lunch today. Seafood spagettini. First visit. Will go again soon despite being very noisy.

Fantastic. Great setting. The food is always light, tasty and well priced. Their fruit drinks (muddled or ice crushes) are delicious and refreshing. Top spot for brekkie or lunch

Hair in my amazing food!. The food here must be pretty fantastic seeing I encountered a hair mixed in with my mushrooms and would still go back! Accidents happen and the rest of the meal was perfect that I overlooked this unfortunate incident. I have dined here 3 times for breakfast. Once I had the poached egg with asparagus and goats cheese which was a wonderful combination - I also added maple cured prosciutto which topped off the meal. Another time I created my own breakfast with halloumi cheese, chat potatoes, mushrooms, eggs, hollandaise and prosciutto (this meal was amazing even though I had to push the mushrooms to the side - I had already eaten 3 quarters of the meal before finding a small hair and was so satisfied with it that I didn't make a fuss. The third visit (yes I went back) I had the beignets which could have had a little more hollandaise but were very tasty all the same. Also worth a mention are the muddled juice drinks with sparkling. I've tried 3 of them now and can't pick a favourite! I will definitely be taking many friends here for Sunday brunches. Be prepared to wait in line, trust me it is worth it!
Australian Foodie
Great food! Bit Noisy. The food here is phenomenal! There are some really unique things on the menu and the banoffee pie is not to be missed! It does get terribly noisy inside though which can add to the atmosphere, but can also make it hard to chat!
Kylie
Had a lovely breakfast, excellent coffee and friendly attentive staff
Dr Anton
Terrible experience. I went to Anouk for lunch & had one of the worst dining experiences ever. Firstly we were sat at one of those 2 seater tables that are so close to each other that you have to turn sideways to fit between them & you can hear clearly every word of the conversation of the people at the tables either side of you. The music was really loud & with concrete floors & the blender going all the noise was intense & very unpleasant. But the worst thing was the incredbly rude way we were spoken to by the waiter, the one with the curly hair, the others were nice. His manner & tone were disgusting. He was impatient & blatantly rude. The food was quite nice but the whole experience was really terrible.
NewTastement
I've been here a few times now, both for breakfast and lunch and I haven't yet been disappointed. The food is delicious, and wonderfully different from most cafe menus. The staff are friendly and efficient and the whole place exuded a lovely sense of warmth and charm.
Dmdownes
By far and away the best cafe in Brisbane. Their menus are always exciting and revised often enough to keep you coming back for more. If you're ever there for breakfast you can't go past the home made banana bread!
Krabby Patties
On entry the place has a rather industrial feel, which I like.<br/>We are greeted and seated; no need to read the beverage menu, a nice warm flat white is what I need.<br/>By the time our coffee comes we have decided on our meals, the coffee is great, I don't remember the brand, but a quality barista makes it well.<br/>Our meals arrive some 20 minutes later, but not before I have to order another round of coffee.<br/>The lunch dishes are simple, but nicely cooked and presented <br/>After an enjoyable lunch I decided to return again this time for breakfast.<br/>Started off almost like déjà-vu in fact. Right down to the same table. <br/>Unfortunately the meal feel a bit short compared to lunch. It dishes descriptions were not great and what I got was a pile of what looked like scrambled egg with chunks of bread in dripping with cold capsicum and oily chorizo, my partners dish was a dry mince a toast, <br/>Despite our 2nd experience it wasn't a complete failure, every place should deserve a second chance. The coffee, the ambience and the feel is cool and hip and it's the kind of place I like to be in, I will return!

Groovy venue/unique breakfast menu. Having heard of Anouk a lot recently, we ventured down this morning for breakfast. <br/><br/>The venue is decidedly trendy; a converted old chemist store with retro art deco furnishings proves to be a blast to the past. Topped with first class, prompt service with a smile, this place is a true find.<br/><br/>The menu was unexpectedly unique. I'm tired of washed-up cafe's breakfast standard items (bacon and eggs, muesli, eggs Benedict). Times are changing and people are looking for something interesting; something quirky.<br/><br/>Anouk is a winner in my books in that regard. Mum had goat's curd & cheese with grilled asparagus, soft poached eggs, hollandaise sauce on a toasted baguette with a side of maple infused bacon ($15.80 + $4). My partner had "grilled whiting with warm capsicum, tomato, feta and fresh herb salsa on a toasted baguette ($15.80). I ordered the wagu breakfast mince with fried egg, spicy red pesto and dollop of herbed sour cream ($16.80).<br/><br/>The presentation was pleasing. The serving size was modest...perhaps on the small size for my liking. The drinks were very fast and high quality.<br/><br/>In all, I did enjoy my breakfast experience at Anouk. On a Friday morning, it was already quite busy...I can only imagine the hoards vying for a coveted spot for Sunday brunch. I do, however, prefer Paddington's Lure on Latrobe better for breakfast.
Craig
Overrated, don't bother with this venue. We had breakfast here and was eager to see how Anouk compared to campos and Cirque. Well don't bother going here, it was terrible and second rate. I had poached eggs with toast and hollandaise sauce. <br/><br/>Hollandaise sauce was cold, gluggy and lacked seasoning, bacon was fatty and overall was a clumsy, tasteless breakfast. Potatoes were just piled on the plate with a few cherry tomatoes, no skill involved with this dish. <br/><br/>Not sure why this place is highly regarded on Urbanspoon, give it a miss
Beautiful
Paddington's best. We were searching for a pleasant Sunday lunch venue and we found the best cafe in the west. Lunch service started at 1pm and during our short wait we tasted a cup of good Mocha. Our three beef burgers arrived within 15 minutes and it was a good cafe size serve. Great flavors, served with yummy sauces, salad and chips. We ordered a jug of raspberry, mango and soda drink which was so refreshingly fresh. The wait staff were attentive & friendly but not too over the top. A real nice experience if you are looking for a good cafe for casual dining. We will certainly return to try the breakfast menu.

Yummy. We had breakfast there, I had the mushroom n my partner had the mince. It was delicious. The vibe was great. We will be back

Not so good. I went to Anouk last Sunday and was disappointed - we waited a long time for luke warm weak coffee, my breakfast (scrambled egg with chorizo) was very ordinary, a second coffee was warmer than the first (by request) but still quite weak. I'd heard rave reviews but wouldn't recommend it and won't be going back.

Great cafe.... Had breakfast here on a busy Saturday morning! It was fantastic! Great service, great tea/coffee, lovely food and the best place for GLUTEN FREE breakfast I have ever been to. The bread was delish! I will definately be back!
Deano's Digest
Allow me to jump on the band wagon. I've visited Anouk twice and on both occasions left a very happy chap. The lemon and ricotta muffin was fresh, subtle and just a little bit crispy. A couple of breakfast dishes ordered off the blackboard (details now escape me) were both unfaultable. It's popular, but it is popular for a reason.
Side
To much Hype - Not enough substance. Straight up I will admit this was the first time I have visited Anouk, however it is also the last.<br/><br/>Dropped in for a mid morning Sunday brekkie last week, with his expectations based on Gun Shop. Sadly very disappointed, average coffee (capp and piccolo ordered), standard order of Benedict to see their worth, more fat than meat on the bacon, and over charged on the hollandaise (one teaspoon cost $4.5). The biggest disappointment was the Zucchini and horse radish frittata. Due to the bad prep work I imagine there was too much moisture in the mix before frying, leading to what was eventually served up, a sloppy flavourless mush with a burnt crust. The best thing about both dishes were the garnishes, grilled sweet Roma tomato and water cress! <br/><br/>Lastly the service was average, spilt first cappuccino and didn't replace for over 20 mins (once asked), meals a 45 min wait from order and to top it off they tried to charge for meals and drinks not ordered or had.<br/><br/>For the money per meal, there are plenty of better places in Paddington let alone Brisbane.
Natalie Portmenteau
Meh - snuh. It's a nice place - good aesthetic with comfy seats in a good location. Service was fine and coffee not bad. Having said that, the food is lacking and offers little or no value for money. I ordered the mushroom dish on ciabatta. While the combo of gruyere, mushrooms, garlic and pine nuts was quite tasty, it was served on a single, quite small piece of ciabatta and accompanied by a lonely slice of grilled lemon. Rarely do I finish breakfast at a cafe anywhere feeling like I needed something else to eat, but that's how I felt here. Seriously overpriced and unremarkable food. Clientele appeared to be people who wanted to be seen there and to say they'd been to a place that has a "reputation". You can get far better breakfast experiences in Brisbane than this.
Munchy
Favourite breakfast cafe in Brisbane. Always busy and always good.

Great value for money. I recently went to Anouk to catch up with a friend and I must say I wasn't disappointed. We ordered coffees and home made apple and pear muffins, which were absolutely delicious. I also ordered a lychee, apple and mint frappe, which was also very nice and refreshing. <br/>And at the end I only ended up paying $ 12.50 for my coffee, my frappe and the muffin (which I think is cheap, at least for Paddington!)<br/>I will be back to test out the brekky menu!

Repeat customer. Have had breakfast & lunch here numerous times - staff great - food great - coffee great - especially love the banana bread which has raisins & pistachios in it too - yum!

Best breakfast in Brisbane, by far. Anouk is easily the best breakfast in Brisbane. Their seasonal menu is full of wonderful little surprises and interesting treats. It's a great mix of traditional fare and menu items you have to look up on your iPhone. If you want bacon and eggs, there are plenty of places to go, but if you're keen to be challenged a little, or delighted by something new, you can't beat Anouk. I've never had a bad experience there and the food has always been top quality and prepared perfectly. There's always a bit of a wait on the weekend and the staff are busy, but that's a good sign right?

Disappointing to say the least.. While I love my BF dearly he is not the best at planning activities for us to do , so when he informed me we were going to have Sunday breakfast at Anouk last weekend I was bowled over. I'd heard of Anouk and had so far only heard good things. It seems my Bf is a jinx because to be honest I had a horrible time. I ordered the sweet potato and chorizo hash, which while not terrible, was also not good. It was completely unseasoned and bland( and this is with it covered in fontina cheese) , I also ordered a side of bacon and poached eggs. The eggs may as well have been hard boiled and lets be honest it's not THAT hard to make properly poached eggs... The kids on Junior MasterChef can do it, I can do it, so why can't the chefs whose job to do it ,do it ? On to the bacon, if it was ever in a pan, it was only in it for a couple of seconds, I have a sneaking feeling ti was microwaved, and not for very long at that considering it was cold within a short period of time. My BF had scrambled eggs and bacon, which he said were ok, but not great and I'll be honest, he'll eat anything. Our hot chocolates , which were served in a small bowl were decent, but overly cinnamony, which my BF hates, which yes may be an Anouk thing, but it's not like my BF is the only one that doesn't like cinnamon , they also went cold because it took almost an hour from when we ordered to when we were served. I'd add that it was not overly busy and that at least 3 tables that ordered after us had finished their meals before we were served. At not one single time did anyone come out and apologize for the delay, even when we were eventually served. The service was poor and the food was horridly over-priced and lacking in any real quality. Perhaps I should treat the chefs to Breaky at mine so they can see how things should be cooked.

Fruit shakes awesome!!!!!!

I have been to Anouk a few times in the last year, however over the last 6mths the food seems to be a bit hit and miss. Noisy and overpriced, but still cool, so I'll probably give it another go.
Gastronomique
Gastronomique. An unhealthy obsession with style and not enough substance. Staff are friendly and attentive however the food is very expensive and whilst well cooked and presented not good value for money. My advice is to go elsewhere - there are better value for money spots in Paddington.

Keeps surprising me. Well this place is now an institution in my books, this would be the 10th visit and only good things to be said by all. Love it when you can't go wrong no hit and miss here.
Tazzi
Fantastic. A fav of mine. Yes, you may have to queue but it is well worth the wait. Breakfast...lunch....you can't beat it.

Best in Brisbane?. This place challenges for my favourite breakfast place in Brisbane. There might be a wait, but the coffee and food is worth it.
Caitlin Moore
Cosy, stylish, slightly disappointing breakfast.. As far as Paddington breakfast haunts go, Anouk ticks all the boxes: deliciously sunny, expertly-made coffees, bustling atmosphere and a creative menu. Waiting for a table is a common occurrence but the lines are managed efficiently and only the largest of parties would be left on the footpath for any length of time. <br/><br/>The ever-changing menu leaves you spoilt for choice, and any selection from the drinks menu is a tasty way to fill the time before your meal arrives. The deadpan waitresses could be friendlier, but maybe that would spoil their hip-to-be-dead-inside vibe.<br/><br/>Anouk's unfortunate downfall was the food. The avocado stack was tasty but the eggs were undercooked (to the point of being coddled) and the bacon could have used an extra, oh say, 10 minutes on the grill. The array of other meals ordered at the table were also accompanied by overly-runny eggs and flaccid bacon. It's a shame when the highlight of one's breakfast is the bed of rocket leaves.<br/><br/>Whether it be an off day due to the streams of customers, or a deliberate decision by a raw bacon-loving chef, Anouk was still enjoyable. This reviewer has not given up on the cafe and will indeed give it another chance to work some crispy bacon into their arteries.

Excellent Restaurant. Anouk is a very nice restaurant in Paddington. This restaurant has a smooth atmosphere perfect for a breakfeast or a lunch. We had really good moments there enjoying a menu that changes a lot and discovering new meals.

Had to queue up, but didn't wait long till we got a table and it was well worth it. Friendly staff who keep their cool even when it's busy. Yum brekkie.

Fab breakfast. One of the best places for breakfast / brunch in Brisbane. Creative, tasty, and with style.

Yummy breaky and very friendly and good service. Great for coffee, don't worry if there's a line as you never have to wait that long.

Anouk is without a doubt a fantastic place for breakfast or lunch. Great breakfast with flavour and imagination - wonderful coffee - superb bustling ambience and service that is attentive. Lunch is equally as good In everyway and the specials board always has something wonderful to whet the appetite some more. All in all great value and a Brisbane must !

Sunday morning delight. I head there on a Sunday morning to chill out, read the paper, watch the pretty peeps and enjoy the food - in this case the potted beans. MMMMMMMM so delicious and warming. I think of this on a Saturday night as I'm heading to bed.

Stylish & pretty tasty. This place is one of Brisbane's rare style gems, the chicks here are dudettes and the fit out is urban cool without being try-hard cookie cutter like too many cafes in Brissie. <br/><br/>Coffee is consistently excellent and they have a really interesting selection of tasty fruit based combos which they make fresh. Sweet treatys are pretty yum too. Food is a bit hit and miss, everything reads well but rarely delivers quite what is promised. But occassionally you will stumble across a gem, like their baked eggs with fennel & speck. Beauty is they change the menu frequently so you have to keep going back for those elusive breakkie wonders.

Anouk’s been on the café scene in Paddington for a while now and as I notice the increasing number of newish establishments along Latrobe and Given Terrace; I wonder if Anouk was maintaining customers, service and quality? The answer is yes! My poached eggs were perfectly cooked and tasted amazing. And happy, very attentive staff cater to the stream of brunchers flowing until almost noon. Relaxing inner city brunchy café with darling interior and locally sourced ingredients. Anouk’s new menu covers breakfast and lunch, offering a specific section for “Small Starters”, “Our Eggs” and “Mains” for more lunch hungry people, with locally sourced food with delicious menu components including; gruyere polenta cakes, confit duck and brioche French toast. And any item on the menu is available for order, any time of the day. Anuok’s service and food quality is great. You’ll really taste the flavours of the locally sourced food and relax amongst the leafy interior, while their staff fuss over you.

Now I've been here once before and sad to say it did not win me over despite the raves on numerous reviews, websites and also from friends. I was hoping this time would be better. We came late Sunday afternoon for lunch and it was great to see the crowds gone for once. We got ushered to a table on the corner (ironically the same table that I sat the last time) and ordered our meals. After much deliberation, I ordered the open steak sarnie with haloumi, bacon, egg, onion, beet jam and sweet curls  and Ellen ordered maple and tamarind wagyu beef, israeli couscous, salty lemon, apricot and almonds . For drinks I had a mango, passionfruit and pineapple juice and Ellen a skinny cappuccino. The drinks came out quickly. They say that the juices at Anouk is their signature but although my juice was really refreshing, it wasn't a particular standout compared to any other cafe in Brisbane. I forgot to ask Ellen how her coffee was but there was

The place was really busy so we were lucky enough to get the last table inside next to the window! After spying around to see what others had ordered we decided to settle on the Smashed Mint Peas/Goat cheese and French Toast. Remembering the time at Pablo where they didn’t serve any eggs with the peas, I decided to order some poached eggs with my peas. My other half followed and ordered some bacon with her french toast. Both dishes came out very presentable and we we’re quick to jump in. The smashed peas were pretty good and luckily I got the poached eggs become the dish would have felt empty without them! The goat cheese was a bit too strong for my liking but overall it was a winner. The french toast was n

Finally we had a chance to continue our Saturday brunch-hunting journey. This time - Anouk Cafe! Anouk is located between those steep ridges and hills. Feeling terrible driving in Paddington: look at those steep hills!!!  Saturday-the only day with alarm off. So, we ended up having lunch instead of brunch cos we reached there around 12pm. It was very busy around that time, everyone's enjoying their Saturdays! You can choose to sit in the cafe or outside along the street. To be honest, the atmosphere in the cafe is nice (I love their written menu on the board, goshh the handwriting is so neat! How I wish our lecturers can write neater...) However, it was quite hot that morning so it turned up to be very stuffy in the cafe. We didn't want to sit outside because of the sunlight! Too hot, so no more coffee for brunch (Normally I have skinny capp for brunch) I had the mango, pineapple, orange and passionfruit fruit shake (I requested them to not to include banana in the skake. aahah) Myra

The extensive breakfast menu at Anouk is a little different and provides two courses for your breakfast options, 'to start' and 'to follow'. The 'to start' menu looked quite light and had traditional breakfast fare like muesli, granola and fruit toast. The 'to follow' part of the menu had a mix of traditional and contemporary hot breakfast offerings.....When the plate was presented to me, I wondered how I would ever eat it all, it was seriously large. A very generous helping of scrambled eggs was covered in a mountain of pan fried mushrooms. Once I got over the initial shock of the size of the plate, I noticed that the generosity didn't finish there, the tomatoes and bacon were significant portion sizes too!

I can't even describe how delicious this drink was, it was like the first time I'd ever had fruit juice, ever, after growing up, never having ever had anything besides water and avoiding fruit. It was a party in my mouth, I would've had another drink except I hadn't received my food yet and had a feeling I would be almost uncomfortably full afterwards. I was right.

Anouk cafe in Paddington is a golden oldie, I love the tattoo / calligraphic style of their logo Furry walls … would it be weird if I went up to stroke you? ...definitely recommend the french toast here if you're like myself and love thick cut pieces of bread without it being overwhelmed with the sweeter component of sauces etc :) i have to also say, the rest of the menu Anouk offers sound pretty promising! although not too keen on the one with sardines...

It was our first time, and upon arriving, I immediately fell in love with the place! I love their style with the framed chalkboard menu on the wall, their couches, and the laid back countryside [and somewhat rustic] ambience. Though the rustic feel is "in" and trendy right now, Anouk still had it's own simple and clean personality. We were greeted by a friendly waitress...

Breakfast can be a noisy affair, especially on the weekends. There is sometimes a queue so be prepared to potentially wait for a table. The service is a little unpredictable – sometimes it’s spot on, other times it appears you’ve been forgotten. There is an early morning country/vintage feel to Anouk, with a concrete and white brick interior, textured walls and basic brown furnishings. Pleasantly open and naturally lit, it is a great way to start the day.

On Sunday Jess took me to her favourite cafe, Anouk. The sun was streaming into the windows, people lined the pavement enjoying their brunch underneath the hanging ferns and the wooden tables were dressed with little glass bottles and pink lillies. Jess and I queued outside after out gym session to procure a table, it was worth the wait. I enjoyed: garlic mushrooms, spinach, poached eggs, dukkah and brushetta (which, btw, I cannot pronounce according to an Italian friend) w. a flat white. Beautiful Jess had: avo on toast, poached eggs and fresh salad w. a passionfuit smoothie.  This cafe had an artichoke soup on offer that I would love to try the next time I am there.

Anouk is arguably one of the best breakfast in Brisbane. This is quite obvious when you’re waiting in line like an impatient pig watching the culinary creations being served around you by the happy hippies which make up the friendly team.

This is a GREAT place to start your day, their menu dares to go where not many restaurants go to be frank, especially where breakfast is concerned. It offers a lovely atmosphere too where you can easily fold out a paper, relax and unwind before a possibly hectic day at work.

I heard that they change their menu from time to time as well… great innovation! The vintage atmosphere of the place is how I would like a cafe to be.

The food is clever, but lacks flair. The coffee is, well, okay. The interior is comfortable, but comes with nothing to recommend it, though the large furry things on the walls (huge sheepskins?) make for a decent talking point.

So why did we think the bread was so good? It had the crispy outside and soft inside that remind me of the baguettes you get in France. They’re so good you can just sit and eat great hunks of them with butter and nothing else (although as I said above, not easy to cut up with a knife and fork… but just pick it up if you need to, yum!)

The food here is phenomenal but the most distinct thing I remember is their refreshingly delicious breakfast mocktails – The strawberry and mint one is perfection on a hot summer morn.

The flavours in this dish are more subtle and not as strong as the tomato ragu; but certainly a light and delicious dish.

The breakfast menu offered a lot of appetizing choices and the specials board had a further five or six items.

The vibe in Anouk was relaxed, yet the activity seemed almost fever pitch. Beverages were thankfully swift in hitting the tables, giving us plenty of time to make our choices: the granola for me, tamagoyaki omelette roll for Luke, the one pan fry up for the SO and a traditional English breakfast for Amanda. The food didn’t take too long to come out, but time moves differently when you’re deeply engaged in conversation. Luke was the most vocal about how delicious his omelette roll was (and he normally isn’t terribly vocal about how good something is), but I couldn’t finish my own breakf

The food were creative and very well presented. The flavours balanced perfectly with each other. Have I mentioned that they are extremely generous with their portions?

I decided to order the omelette and it was beautifully fluffy in texture, well presented, generous and filled with crumbly prosciutto and accented by cherry tomatoes. I really enjoyed the additional options of herb butter and lemon, but thought the tomatoes could have been halved to make it more user friendly and allow for a more even roasting to promote the fruit's natural sweetness. But these comments are just a minor technicality as I really enjoyed my breakfast and Anouk experience over all. The menu changes seasonally so I strong suspicion that I will be back.

The dish was wholesome and well-balanced with just the right amount of sweet dressing. The minty bit unfortunately wasn't detectable.
Brisbane Devoured
I won out with the smashed bubble and squeak with maple cured bacon and spicy red pepper and pork pesto. The bubble and squeak component was mainly potato, sweet potato, spinach and cabbage. The best part was the sweet bacon, but the rest was full of flavour and definitely had a spicy kick. It was a tiny bit greasy, but a minor complaint.

Though Anouk was extremely busy, we experienced excellent service. The cafe is decked out nicely and would have been a comfortable environment if there was a tiny bit less people (it was hard to talk because everyone was chatting loudly). I thought the food was great and I was excited about several of the menu options, which made it difficult to choose but encourages me to go back. My drink was a slight disappointment but only because there were so many others I wanted to try.

Service, luckily, made up for the sub-par coffee: it was friendly, swift, and very professional – hard to do when Anouk gets as busy as it does! A tip: we arrived just after 8am, and there were plenty of tables. You snooze, you lose.<br/>

Anouk makes fantastic coffee – the long blacks come out with a perfect crema and the cappuccinos have the coffee-milk-froth equation just right

It didn’t take us long to find Anouk amongst the boutiquey stretch of road. The shop front was not unlike The Gun Shop with outdoor seating, a line out the front and big windows so that the people in line can spend their wait choosing their meal from what

One of my tasks when writing the food pages for Style Magazine was to ask people about their favourite dining haunts. So many Inner West locals nominated Anouk it started to get boring. Now I know what they were on about. Anouk is located in the city end
