Review Alcove Cafe - Brisbane

Chris C
Alcove is one of the greats. I wish there was more ways I could mark this place as top tier. The food is varied, right, delightful and just the quintessential Australian breakfast. They use traditional recipes cooked to perfection with lovely decor and flair. The service is so warm and energising. The servers are happy, pleasant and make you feel like you’re their best friend. Even when it’s chockablock busy, this place will get your food out promptly. You won’t be left waiting too long. But just long enough that you know all of this was prepared fresh.

My friend and I had a delicious breakfast here in a perfect outdoor setting. The service was efficient and friendly from start to finish, even though they were very busy. The meals arrived soon after ordering through the easy contactless QR code on the table, which is a great option to avoid having to go to the counter. The meals were beautifully presented, very fresh, plentiful and full of flavours. The coffee is from the Venezianio roastery in West End and was expertly made and smooth and creamy. The seating is all outdoors, covered and being on a corner it catches the breezes. This is a fabulous spot for a catch up with friends for breakfast or brunch.

Fantastic little cafe, the brunch was fantastic! Slightly pricey for brunch but the food and coffee was brilliant so I feel its worth the small premium. Staff member that served us was very pleasant! Highly recommend.

This place was fantastic, I was instantly greeted and sat at a table which I loved, immediately told where the water was and how to order, loved that. The staff were just so friendly and welcoming. Food was even better, I ordered the alcove breakfast and it was well worth the price, beans were the highlight for me and the eggs were poached to perfection. The coffee was also great. Awesome experience overall, great start to my day, would definitely come back.

Awesome friendly staff, seated straight away by a really lovely staff member. Ordering was easy and quick. The pancakes and the pulled pork benny on a croissant were incredible, absolutely amazing flavours for both of them. The fire and ice was really interesting to have their cold brew and a flat white side by side. Can't wait to come back and try more items!

Absolutely amazing!!!! The service is the best I’ve ever experienced, they are so happy and bubbly and make you feel good about your day even before your coffee. The almond croissants are to die for and their coffee is delicious. We’ve been a number of times and they are consistently fantastic. This morning I placed an online order but forgot to add some coffees but they got them out to me in a flash. 10/10 service!!!

Went to Alcove Cafe and Deli this morning for a meeting. From the very moment I hit the footpath outside this little hideaway it screams out to you to come on in and step back in time. Yes as you take that few steps it was like going back into real service. The ambiance is rustic from the mix matched timbers on the wall to the use of mix matched windows acting as a feature not to add the chunky timber furniture for the comfort of clientele. The staff.... well I was greeted with a friendly welcoming from the young man and the young lady who were running their butts off but didn't hesitate to stop and attend to my needs. Food was so eye appealing that I was really full just looking at it,it looked like eggs Benedict with bacon and sourdough. Excellent job chef..from a ex chef of 50 years. If you are ever in this little neck of the woods try Alcove Cafe and Deli Believe me you'll wander why you hadn't prior. Excellent job everyone

This cafe was the first option that came up when I searched for “best breakfast Brisbane north” and I totally see why. The food is incredible, the staff were super lovely from start to finish and the atmosphere is nice. The gentleman who seated us was sooo welcoming and the waitress from New Zealand was an absolute sweetheart. 5/5 star experience, we’ll be back for sure! 😊✨

Alcove has consistently great service, delicious food, and is the best cup of coffee I've found on the north side. We have made it our regular Saturday brekky place and are always greeted with smiles by their lovely staff. Check out the specials, they're always worth it! 5 stars to this excellent cafe!

Perfect food, coffee and service. Thank you to all the staff. Highly recommend the breakfast menu, especially the bircher muesli .

The crew at Alcove rock. The menu is interesting, the food is delicious, the coffee is very good, the atmosphere is intimate even when it's crowded, the staff are friendly with big smiles and they have great taste in music that wafts outside from the kitchen.

Thank you Alcove for always serving me with smiles and happiness. Thank you for the incredible coffee and food. I’m a regular to your cafe and never have I had bad service , bad coffee , bad food. Thank you again for adding “sparkles” to my life 🌈

Just wanted to give a shout out to the boys and girls at Alcove cafe. This has been my numerous time here for breaky and everything has been top notch your menu never ceases to amaze me and I am always left satisfied with not only the food but service. Truly is my go to in terms of cafe in Brisbane.

the service here is fantastic. all the staff are super friendly. great range of meal options at a reasonable price. I had the vegetarian burger which was good but the bread was a bit too thick. would have enjoyed it more on a regular bun.

We cannot love Alcove any more! It is our go-to brunch place every weekend. The food is always delicious, and their portions generous. The staff are so thoughtful and go above beyond for their customers. Highly recommended!

By far the BEST breakfast and smoothest coffee I’ve had in a long, long time. Well worth the drive to the other side of town!

First time at Alcove Cafe for lunch and we were all thrilled with service, coffee, and delicious meals. This will become our favourite cafe in the Wilston/ Windsor area . Thank you staff 👍👍

This is probably now one of my favourite brunch / lunch places in Brisbane. The staff are always really friendly and offer great service. Coffee is really good and the food tastes and looks fantastic.

Had an amazing braised beef cheek dish for breakfast, excellent food and great service. Will definitely be going there again.

Hands down the BEST cafe in Brisbane. Amazing food ✔️ Excellent coffee ✔️ Relaxed ambience ✔️ Friendly staff ✔️✔️✔️ Do yourself a favour and try their smashed avo, it’s delicious 😋

Loved our lazy Sunday lunch! The staff were so welcoming & just adored our little puppy which made us feel so welcome... they've created a fantastic atmosphere and the food is incredible! Definitely one of our favourite places to visit

Thank you for a beautiful, fresh brekky this morning. It’s pretty obvious you guys take so much pride in your work and use only the best ingredients. Love the selection of gluten free options too. Look forward to coming back again soon!

Braving the COVID-19 fears, hubby and I went out for a quick lunch the other day at a local café. We all need to do our bit to help small businesses keep going through the crisis, don’t we? It was early lunchtime, it was very busy, and it was starting to rain. We dashed under the large umbrellas, and grabbed a seat. A very friendly and lovely waitress came by with menus, glasses and a carafe of water. Hubby went to order at the counter, which is the norm these days, and we rapidly received – a cappuccino for me, and a mango and vanilla bean smoothie for him. My coffee was fine; hubby loved his thick and cold smoothie. You could even see the specks of vanilla in his drink, and there was a fruity taste of mango. I went for the avocado smash with bacon, on organic sourdough. Sadly, we both felt the bacon was a little light-on, considering you pay extra. (We also had lunch here in December, and the bacon was very generous then!) The bread was tangy, soft inside, crisp on the outside but not too hard. You know how crusts sometimes cut your mouth? Nope, this was not like that. The radish gave the dish a nice little peppery zing, and the dukkah gave it a spicy hit. He chose the roast pumpkin fritters. A common whinge from me is that often most cafes when serving ‘fritters’ are really serving pancakes! Once again, I would call these pancakes, rather than fritters which to my mind, should be mostly veg. with a wee bit of flour and egg to bind them. These were flavoursome enough with pumpkin and chickpeas, but not to my taste – somewhat stodgy. Fortunately it wasn’t me eating them; hubby was perfectly content! It started to pour down, and the umbrellas were starting to leak, so we grabbed our belongings and ran back to the car. We felt virtuous, and well-fed, happy to have helped a local business in this time of crazy, crazy madness. Enough toilet paper yet, everyone? :-)

It was a special Monday because that Monday was the last Monday Grace will be our only child. She knew that she would have a sibling soon but I don't think she understand how a new addition will change her life quite significantly. As she normally goes to childcare the rest of the week, I wanted to have breakfast with her and we chose Alcove.

Have not been back over two years and checked it out on Sunday early this month. It was not that busy as usual when I arrived so I got more time to browse around before placing my order at the counter. I noticed that they had a daily special of Vietnamese style vermicelli with pork belly salad so gave it a go with my favourite - one & one (espresso + flat white).
Coffee came first, which recalled the episode of my first time here. Needless to say, they served more than enough caffeine for the day. Next came the salad, which was prepared well with those pork belly melting in my mouth.
The only downside was the damage to my wallet, over $30 dollars for a Sunday brekkie made me a heartache. 😂
Last visit: July 2017 Rating 5/5

Great place, I dine here for breakfast frequently. Great service and food! Eggs are always poached just right, good coffee too. Try the Alcove Breakfast!
Laura Waterman
So cute, I love the decore above all. The food was really tasty actually, portion sizes decent but the only thing is I wanted a different meal however wouldnt make it without the garnish of nuts, so made me think maybe the care isnt too great.
Guac&Roll
Extremely disappointing breakfast this morning. Had been excited to come and check alcove out for a while now. Unfortunately the food was terribly bland and expensive. Both breakfasts were over $20 and we were left feeling let down to be honest. For the record, we had the Alcove Breakfast and the Sautéed Mushrooms.

I ordered the lamb koftas with pita on the all day breakfast menu. The lamb koftas came out dry and the pita was soggy from the salad juices. I paid an extra $4 to add avacado to my dish and what came out was 1/8th of an avacado. I came with 4 other people and we were all surprised when my dish came out and seeing the amount of avacado that was provided. One of my friend even asked the waiter to confirm if the order is correct. The waiter said that avacado is expensive and needed to make money. We completely understand and appreciate the running of a business but 1/8th of an avacado for $4 is not what consumers expect hence the surprise by all of us at the table. The food also took a very long time to came out and did not all come out at once.
FrenchToast
Yum yum yum! Love the menu options. Definitely go the smashed avo and add bacon & haloumi! It’s such a cute little cafe too decorated with hanging plants. Feels very homely.

I visited this cafe with a lovely friend for breakfast. The staff were very welcoming and caring. Service was great despite the crowd. I hope staff are well appreciated by the business owner. The atmosphere was nice. The coffee is located in a nice place. Traffic noise can be a bit annoying. Food was great in generous portions. The sourdough was slightly rough or maybe the knife wasn’t good enough. In general happy to go back there again.

Service was 20/10 and all the staff loved our pup who got so many pats from all of them. She even scored herself a little doggie treat!! Food was standard cafe fare and massive portions too. It's good that they can use the outdoor seating area in front of cold rock as it was so so busy.
Josh
Not great! Staff and ambience was nice, but the “Chef’s Special” left a lot to be desired. None of the ingredients complemented each other. Toast was soaked and soggy in meat juices at the bottom of the dish.

The salmon Gravadlax was covered in foliage to mask an (in actual fact) tiny dish with a weak and watery “Dijon mustard sauce”

Paying $55 for breakfast, you expect a lot more!

Really nice little cafe in Wilston village. Menu is interesting. Drink menu is equally interesting. We felt like something cold, and ordered craft beer and iced chocolate. Friendly staff.

Explored this café on last Sunday morning. There is absolutely no regret for the long trip. Arrived around 7:15am and there were a few tables already occupied. I was greeted by a very friendly, energetic Asian young guy (the boss?). Then I went in the counter and realised that they only offered al fresco dining area. There were at least two chefs working in the kitchen. Afterward, I was led to a small table and sat down to read through the menu. The first thing attracted my attention was the list of Speciality Drinks. It was amazing with good invention. I was choosing in between the "one and one" (espresso and flat white) or the "fire and ice" (cold brew and flat white). Eventually, I chose the "one and one" with the dish of Italian Egg for my brekkie. The first thing to the table was the "one and one" with nice looking flat white and small cup of espresso sitting side by side on a wooden broad. I started with the espresso immediately. Bravo! It was so impressive to have the Veneziano espresso with strong caffeine kick-starting my day. Then I slow down the pace to enjoy the flat white with nice looking latte art. Next came to the table was the Italian Egg. Its nice presentation won my appreciation at the first glance. My gut feeling proved to be true after my first bite on the Italian sausage with a bit of poached egg and the sour sauce. Honestly, I could not finish the whole lot so I left over the baguettes so it did not mean the dish was not good. Overall, I was much surprised to see such a local gem with passionate attitude in running a little café like Alcove. In addition, I am also much appreciated about the theme of environmental protection such as they converted the old wooden door as the table, which was rustic but impressive. Cheers!
Taking Brisbane One Coffee House At A Time
Love this place. Amazing Breakfast and really good coffee! Some of the best coffee in Brisbane, and a great laid back location. Overdue for another visit here.

Loved this place! Food was absolutely delicious, but especially the mushrooms were seriously amazing, so well seasoned and flavoured, best mushrooms I have had!! Staff were so friendly and helpful, I asked for a couple of changes to my menu item and they accommodated me perfectly. The iced coffee was also really great. The setting was perfect, with a range of booths and normal tables, with plants to decorate. Definitely recommend this place, I will be going back!!! Lachy Hamish

Great little cafe, amazing food and great value for money! I ordered the smashed avo add bacon, haloumi and poached eggs, which arrive very quickly. I don't think I have ever been so impressed with a smashed avo (and I order it out a lot!!). The portion was extremely generous for the price and everything packed so much flavour! Poached eggs were cooked just right and the bacon crisped to perfection. The outdoor setting had a rustic vibe with cushion covered timber booths, hanging plants and chilled music whilst the overhead heaters made a cozy environment on a winters morning. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Could not recommend this place enough! Try it!! Hamish Rebecca

Such a nice cafe with amazing food and a great atmosphere. The staff were quick and very friendly, however it would have been nice to have table service. The food was perfect and portion sizes were huge. The smashed avo with eggs, haloumi and bacon was probably one of the best I've had. The outdoor seating area had a good vibe with music, heaters and plants, and was quite popular for a Monday. Would definitely recommend coming here for a nice, filling breakfast. Lachy Rebecca

Exceptional service, incredible food at a really lovely cafe. They obviously really love their food and coffee because it shows in the execution, presentation and taste! Will be back regularly!

Tasty food and nice coffee . Lovely decor and ambience.staff are friendly and helpful when asking anything about menu.At busy times seating may be hard to find. Great place a must go ! :)
Kathryn Oudendyk-Jung
I love having breakfast here, this place has an exceptional menu and the staff are absolutely amazing. Would highly recommend this place to anyone and I personally tell friends and family to visit all the time!

I LOVED the food at this cafe. It was so much more than your standard breakfast, with richer flavours, and perfect sizing. The customer service was perfect and the coffee was great. I definitely will be back next time I'm in town :-)
Jacquelyn Shay
Breakfast was delicious and the portion size was massive! We couldn't even finish it all. Um, hello... two pieces of Halloumi! Definitely will be going back - was also dog friendly!
Leisa
Went for lunch and had the lamb sandwich which was divine. Loved the look of all the cakes as they were 'homemade' and the glutton free looked amazing too, but we were so full we didn't get to try. Just means we are definitely coming back!
Claire
This is the best cafe in Wilston for meeting friends for long lazy breakfasts or lunches. The outdoor seating is perfect for people and dog watching. Coffee is strong and is served quickly. The menu caters for the traditionalists to the bold palettes. Try it all, from the three styles of muesli, to the Italian eggs to the ricotta and walnut pancakes. The staff are very friendly and attentive and the recent extension into wine and tapas will surely be a success too.
Cktwo
Overpriced and unremarkable.
We were looking for a deli sandwich for lunch like we used to get at Delicatezza at Mitchelton when Josie worked there. Ordered the "lambsie" and the "veggie" gourmet sandwiches. Service was appropriate leaning towards arrogant. I guess we're not hipsters so maybe we don't fit their ideal client? Food looked average, arrived quickly, but was bland and lacked texture and taste. Overall there was no love in this food. Won't bother coming back.
Bucky
It's overpriced and the table needed a wipe-down. The waiter didn't bring water so had to get up and get it ourselves and find the menu. The coffee came in a dirty mug. The food was good.
Lauz J
This place was absolutely wonderful! We brought our dog and the staff could not be more accommodating , giving him treats and water. The food was absolutely amazing, the staff were a pleasure. Will definitely be back in the near future.

I will say it was quite busy though wait times were very low!

Fantastic and attentive service at this lovely cafe in Wilston. The roast vegetable sandwich with roast potatoes was delicious and reasonably priced. I also got to sample the pancakes my friend ordered and they were delicious too.
Samie
I love this place. A cosy little alcove to curl up and have coffee at. Yummy food too.. Generously served and look at this banana bread - so beautifully presented!

Had a lovely breakfast at Alcove with my family. Didn't have to wait long for a table and the staff were friendly and efficient. The pumpkin and chickpea fritters were delicious. I would definitely recommend this cafe for anyone looking for a chilled out cafe with great food.
Steph Squillaci
Really disappointed with this mornings meal at the Alcove. Ordered the Pa's Pie (savoury mince, mashed potato, poached eggs and flat bread) however there was no savoury mince? I asked the waiter if they had forgotten the mince but he informed me that it was mixed in with the mash. However, I still couldn't see any mince, only a handful of peas and chunks of burnt potato. The eggs were poached perfectly though. I was offered some bacon to make up for my breakfast. The last time we ate here Pa's Pie came with heaps of savoury mince, and grilled crispy sourdough. This time was very disappointing.
Edibleflower1000
Had breaky here this morning, and it was yum. Cold windy morning all we wanted was to sit in the sun and the waitress kindly made our wish come true. Boyfriend had the delicious baked eggs which will be my choice next time and friends had the alcove breaky. I decided to try the special- silky...

Such a nice little cafe with great outdoor sitting. If you're looking for cosy outdoor Cafes where you watch cars or people walking by, this is perfect. The staff was friendly and the food was delicious too.
Ben
Pretty small cafe new Kelvin Grove, always had good food here. Service was really helpful too. Most annoying thing about Alcove is the parking can be difficult on weekend mornings.
ElsewhereBriefly
On the main strip of Wilston Village is where you’ll find Alcove Cafe and Deli. Actually, just on a corner turning off from about the middle of the main strip. You’ll see the striped awning just peeking out..and it’s not Cafe 63 (they seem to be springing up everywhere). It is all undercover outdoor seating. The aforementioned stripey awning and large umbrellas protect patrons from the elements. This was tested by a light drizzle on the morning we went, and held up pretty well, apart from a few small drops getting in through the gaps. There weren’t visible fans or heaters for other seasons, and in less accommodating temperatures, al fresco might not be as pleasant. It was fine for the day though. The decor and the atmosphere is casual and relaxed, with an almost beachy feel.

Yuuum! Was super packed around 9am so we did stuff and came back at 10.30-11 and filled a table someone had just left. Staff were super lovely, (especially the quirky dude on the counter) -even though they were busy and it was a hot morning- if they were sweating, you couldn't tell. I ordered the alcove breakfast. Had to share with mum as we are grazers so we got the mushrooms too. Omfg everything was awesome! It was beautifully presented (I don't take food photos much so you'll have to go there). Eggs were perfect, I was hesitant at the apple and potato Rosti but, they knew what they were doing. No seasoning at the table necessary- they nailed it. Partner had the Italian eggs- they looked pretty delicious, but kind of hard to eat with a fork. Will be back for more
I Love Gum Boots
Great atmosphere and fantastic food! Coffee is a bit hit and miss. Some days it's really good and some days it's very average. Just needs a little more consistency. Staff are very friendly and polite. Will definitely keep coming back for the kasundi wrap and the avo on toast!
Scooter Staines
A very popular local for it's great coffee. Week end breakfasts are very popular. Week day pre work coffees and breakfasts also hit the mark. The best avocado smash in town. Service is friendly and efficient. Alcove is a meeting place for locals.
Charles
Great coffee and food selection. Very good customer service and reasonable prices. I have taken friends and family alike there for breakfast.
Phoebe
Not impressed. Service was friendly & prompt, however our meals were not great & we won't return. A friend had the prawn pasta, which was nice, at best. My husbands Pa Pie was quite bland & "nothing to write home about". My Henny Penny was the biggest disappointment. Dry, hard chicken which I chose to pull off the bun & the ratio of relish to slaw was not balanced. Disappointing experience.

It’s always good to know about local cafes that will make you feel better the morning after the night before.Alcove Café and Deli in Wilston Village is one such dining establishment that will help you out when you’re in need to something bacony and eggy to try to forget anything vodka-y. What breakfast delights await here? Let’s take a look.

Spotted this cozy little cafe and it is a very relaxed place with friendly and attentive staff. Service could have been done with more haste but was okay and the food was great. Banana bread is really crispy on the edges and moist inside but the honey over the top made it a bit too sweet. The chorizo ragu was very flavorsome, although i got it warm-cold (more on the cold side) but is a must try! Can't really go wrong with the avocado smash, was delicious. Presentation of our orders were appealing.
Coffoodie
Well this little café served up a pretty decent brekky and yummy, smooth coffee. We arrived to an almost full café with cute decor, but layout was bit pokey for me/the traffic was the scenery as it's located on the corner of two semi-busy roads. Nevertheless, the smashed avo on sourdough with poached eggs hit the spot (decent servings too). Not enough sweet options for me though :(
Ruby
Fantastic genuine customer service and great food. Will be going back for sure :)
Tt
Was super busy but worth the wait . The coffee, juice & smoothies were perfect and the meals were well portioned and delicious . The staff were friendly and attentive which you don't often find . Looking forward to returning

A regular favourite. Alcove is yet to disappoint. After more than a dozen visits for breakfasts and lunches I can attest that the service is delightful, the coffee is perfection, and the food is consistently great. Thank you, Alcove!
Fifi
We had a really positive breakfast experience here. Will definitely be returning. Good coffee, great food. Minimal wait even though the cafe was full. Lovely staff. Corn fritters were yum!

My favourite place!. Was taken to this place a year or so ago and have been going back since for the friendly service, great food and coffee! I have always loved the avo smash and to see it now available with the options of poached eggs, halumi or salmon was a dream! I wish I could fit all of the extras in! I love how quirky not only the café is but the staff! Great location and best on the street I am always raving to my friends about this awesome little place!
Megan Wilson
Love this little gem! Good vibe, nice staff, quaint little theme going on matches the small menu that has perfect amount of variety. Love sipping on a juice in the sun eating a fresh breakky! Also tried a loaf off the sourdough from here a few weeks ago a little dearer then you would pay elsewhere but the taste of it can soon make you forget that.. delish!
Hannahandersoncook
Perfect.. We have been going to Alcove every Sunday morning before work for a couple of weeks, and have always received excellent service from the staff. Alcove's food is excellent and always fresh, their haloumi and avocado on toast is the perfect start to the day. Their coffee is consistently good, and service is prompt. While it can get quite busy, it is always worth the wait for a table.
Paul Chapman
What a gem - great food, great coffee, super service
Lauren
Cute. Alcove is very cute, girly and small - a little too small! It can be difficult to get a table on a busy weekend morning and if you do get a table, it feels a bit squeezy as if you are sitting next to complete strangers, which can make conversation difficult for some. The poached eggs and avocado on toast with dukkah was nice - couldn't really taste the dukkah but it was still enjoyable. Coffees were also good.
CADW
Tables were dirty (at one stage customers were having to pack up the plates themselves, leaving 2 tables piled with dirty dishes) No water was brought to the table and when we asked if it was table service we were told 'I don't know, you'll have to ask someone else' by a waiter who then turned and walked away. Coffee was cold but quickly replaced, staff seemed disorganised. Food wasn't bad, the boston baked beans was bland but the corn fritters were quite good. Overall, after hearing the hype about this place, we were less than impressed.
Foodylicious
Get some new chairs and tables!. The girls met here for breakfast we all had the Italian sausages which were tasty but swimming in far too much tomato sauce. The coffee was great. They really need to work on the seating, we moved 3 times and still couldn't get a table that didn't wobble, which has got to be one of the most annoying things when you eat out.
DK
Nice people but terrible food. Both mine and my girlfriend's breakfast was SOOOO salty that we could not eat it. Don't waste your money there.
HungryHungryCatepillar
Decided to try this spot recommended by a friend. We waited over 50 minutes on a Sunday morning, however the meal more than compensated! Everything was delicious, the poached eggs were perfection, and the garlic mushroom absolutely to die for.

Will go and wait again
Jstew
Alcove breakfast was awesome
Coffee great
Staff fantastic
Jennifer Kate
Consistently impressive. I frequent the Alcove Deli & Cafe quite regularly and on all occasions I have always left satisfied with the service, food and the coffee especially . All these ingredients make up for a great cafe. The fact that it's in Wilston, far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the city but close enough to return easily, makes it an even more attractive breakfast/ lunch option.
MsJones
Great service and food. I love this little coffee shop for it's great service and staff. Food is fresh and quality ingredients used. Seeing Igor and team first thing in the morning and being served a great coffee is the perfect start to a day.
DianaW
Diana. Small & cramped, but cute & quirky plus a tad messy, but coffee was OK. Full bodied flavour, little bit of a large head on my flat white but no problems because the strength was all there. Try a carton of the gorgeous Greek shortbread, thickly dusted with icing sugar- a real treat to take home.
Foodie Life
Great little place!! Space is tight & seating is first in best posse. Food is hearty & full of flavour! They also sell organic, healthy & nutritional groceries/ingredients/snacks. Excellent value for money! One of my fave breakfast/coffee destinations in brisbane.
Foodie88
First time visit to this cute, quirky cafe and was more than impressed with the food, coffee and service. Food was quick and absolutely amazing!! Cannot praise it higher! Will be back very soon :)

Best beaky in brissy! Love this place.. Busy but 10/10
Gemma
Alcove is great. Very nice food and coffee. Friendly staff
Susy
Pros and cons. Shop part had some love stuff. My haloumi
Stack was nice. No guaranteed access to a toilet though - u have to negotiate with the newsagent over the road - and meals were served on those awful bits of drift wood. What is wrong with plates? Other than that was fine.
Heidi
I was so excited because it looks so cute and cosy. I went for the first time today with two others. They ordered sandwiches and I ordered bacon and eggs with pesto. The sandwiches were very ordinary - pretty much what you would get at a corner store - and my meal was so oily and greasy I couldn't even eat half. Was disappointing because if the food was better it would be great because it has the charming look.
Valter D
Went there this morning for breakfast with friends - ordered the bacon and egg with pesto - no waiter service, first cross ( although plenty of people work there not doing much) - food was dry and bland, precooked and the microwaved - second cross, and third cross it was over priced . That's a kiss of death from me and my family.
Jen
Brilliant, cosy cafe. Alcove is exactly the type of place that Brisbane needs - cute, quirky with great food and service. Went there for breakfast and loved the atmosphere, my friend and I stayed for a couple hours! Good choice on the menu and is obviously popular with the locals for a reason. This place has charm & personality, definitely worth checking out if you're sick of the overpriced, run-of-the-mill chain coffee stores everywhere.

What an unexpected find! Amazing Sunday brunch. Great food, lovely staff, good coffee. Thumbs up!
Amanda
Yum. I go here mostly every Monday morning! The italian eggs are so delicious and the quality of ingredients is always high!
Marisa Senese
Yummy. As a local, it's great to find a place that feels like home. Great coffee, service, food and lots of treats to tantalise! My favourite little spot to relax!

Beautiful!!. I have been there only twice so far. But everything I order was amazing!! I will be back soon!!
TL
What a great find. Great staff, quick service, nice menu which tasted terrific. Went on the weekend which was great because of the market extras such as flowers, breads, plants etc. Really enjoyed it. Will definitely be going back.
Lucy Smith
Fantastic cafe!. Brilliant cafe, friendly service, tasty and extremely well priced meals and excellent coffee!
Kaye
Disappointed. We were looking forward to breakfast at Alcove after reading some good reviews. The setting and atmosphere is lovely and the menu was enticing so it was a pity that the standard of food was appalling. The fact that they serve bacon, haloumi and sausages but don't have a grill should have been an indication the worst was yet to come I suppose. I requested "harder than rock hard" eggs but they arrived runny and therefore inedible. The bacon had been microwaved and was so tough it was difficult to cut, let alone chew. Sausages had been pre-cooked and reheated and were soggy and bland. The haloumi was just stringy. Toast had only been cooked on one side! Serving on wooden platters and in bowls looks trendy but makes it extremely difficult to eat a big breakfast when you have eggs in one bowl, bacon, sausages and haloumi in another, and toast on a platter. I think this place would be very nice if you avoid anything other than toasted dishes as in our experience their cooked breakfasts are really lousy.

One of the BEST in Brisbane. Had a great morning there this morning, had the Avo Smash with Poached Eggs..... Awesome!! Fantastic Coffee with very friendly staff. The only place in Wilston to have your coffee and Breakfast...

Cute Cafe!. This cute cafe is exactly what Wilston needed! It has a great range of specialty deli items, and an appealing menu. The staff and owners are very lovely and bubbly and you are sure to leave with a smile on your face. I love that there is no extra charge for soy or extra shots!!! Keep up the good work guys.

Great deli range and lovely staff. A delightful and much overdue addition for Wilston village. I love this little cafe and regularly buy take away coffees and bits from their range of interesting and varied deli items.
Owners Fergus and Sep are always so pleased to see you - a great delight in hospitality these days.
Food Glorious Food
Cute. Went for afternoon coffee on Sunday. Coffee was good, interior was cute. Not sure how it would go in summer. Almost all tables enjoy the afternoon sun, which is awesome during winter. But again, during summer, it might be really horrible to sit there for an longer than 5 minutes. Will be back to try breakfast soon before it warms up too much.

A few problems, but very nice food.. I ordered the Baked Eggs and Bacon With Pesto. It was delicious, although looking around the table, everyone elses meals looked a bit disappointing. We were there for breakfast on a Sunday and, on that time & day it was lovely, being tucked away it was very peacful. The order was muddled up a bit, and as a result our meals' arrival was staggered. My firends were not fussed by what they ordered, although I found my Baked Bacon and Eggs to be excellent! Oh, and the artisan toast they serve is incredible!

Checked out this cutie this morning, couldn't belive how packed it was for a Friday. Was lovely sitting in the sun. I had the alcove breakie which was good value and delicious. Quick and friendly service with great hot coffee. 10/10

One of Brisbane's hidden treasures. I went to the Alcove for the first time today and it definitely won't be the last. Located just 5 minutes walking from the Wilston train station, it is by far my favourite breakfast/lunch place in Brisbane so far. The breaksfast menu is varied and mouth watering, with a selection that makes it difficult what to choose. I finally decided on the breakfast bap, a grilled panini-style sandwich with prosciutto, egg, mushrooms and cheese and I was not disappointed. The bread was perfectly crispy and the contents complimented each other deliciously. The only problem was that I wanted another one! I had the chocolate milkshake after recommendation by the owner, which was nice and refreshing with a tasty real-chocolate flavour to it. Also, forget fancy plates and tall glasses, at the Alcove the food is served on wonderful wooden boards and the milkshake came in an awesome orange retro glass, which gave a really nice and homey feel to everything, something that the Alcove does really well. To top off the breakfast I had a huge piece of chocolate brownie, generously covered in icing sugar which I could barely finish, but was just too good to leave behind. Despite all the deliciousness, this is one of the cheapest place I have found that makes a good breakfast, with most breakfast items costing less than $10.

Besides serving food, there is an in-store deli and flowers are arranged all around the outdoor sitting area, all for sale. This open, market-place like construction gives a feeling of having brunch at a friend's house instead of at a café and the staff was all smiles and friendly, even after ordering the cake to the wrong table number, which are marked by awesomely fashioned playing cards in wooden blocks. The whole setting gives a sensation of being organic, almost living, with wooden eating boards, tables and chairs. I spotted three different kinds of chairs and as many different tables, giving a wonderful feeling of relaxed, controlled chaos that is a nice change from most cafés' static and symmetric decors.
The small deli section itself is worth a visit, offering all kinds of local delicacies, ranging from chili sauces to cheese, dukkah, fresh pasta, cured hams and small, deliciously-looking pastry balls. After consulting the owner, I decided on pork and fennel sausages from a local butchery as well as a jar of Australian Bush Pepper and Salt that I can't wait to put in my dinner tonight!

All in all, the Alcove really is one of the hidden treasures of a city where it seems difficult to find cafés where the staff are genuinely passionate about their work and every tiny detail adds up to give a feeling of being welcomed to someone's morning tea at home. I will definitely be back and I can only recommend this little new gem of Brisbane!

Food Great, Barista Behaviour Totally Inappropriate!. Initially we were very excited to discover Alcove. The young wait staff were friendly and obliging, coffee was fantastic, and the breakfast items we ordered were delicious. However, things turned pear shaped when we requested to change our second round of coffees to "take-aways". Due to the chilly breeze outside we decided to wait inside for our coffees, after reminding the staff again that we had changed to "take-aways". When the barista was notified that she had missed the change in our order, her attitude, in our presence, became appalling for all to see. It left a very sour taste in our mouths, and we will definitely think twice before returning. Her reluctance to accept responsibility, and her open willingness to blame others in front of customers, was very awkward and totally inappropriate!

Great coffee and deli. Big fan of this place. There are allot of options for coffee around Wilston but I have found this to be the best. Apart from the fact that they have great coffee, a good selection for breakfast and lunch plus a heap of local deli products, I think it's the great friendly personality of the owners and staff that set it apart. From the first day I had been to Alcove they all knew my name and what coffee I order and it is always a pleasure to stop by. Although I don't usually have enough time to sit down and enjoy a coffee or meal they definitely have created a great comfortable setting for it.
Great coffee, food and staff means I will be be coming back regularly and I recommend you do too.

Cafe Junkie
Great little place!. I ducked in here at 4pm on a Saturday (their normal closing time) for a bite to eat after not having lunch. Ended up having a French Vanilla slice and it was one of the best ones I've had! The service from the friendly staff was great. Inside they also have range of boutique deli goods. Will love to come back here. Highly recommend!
Gluten Free Julia
Surrounded by gourmet produce and lush plants, Alcove's casual al fresco dining stands out from the crowd. Alcove is bustling with regulars, despite only opening in July 2012, and it is hard to find a spare table . Unfortunately you can't book ahead either to secure a spot. Luckily we don't have to wait long. As well as being gluten-free friendly, the cafe is also dog-friendly, which means we can even let our pooch park up front.

We rolled up to Alcove Café and Deli, a little quaint gem hidden round the corner and out of sight from the main road. Much of the seating was outdoors under white and black French chic awnings, so there won’t be any sun scorching. White wooden folding chairs that would not look out of place at Diner en Blanc were padded with thin cushions of cute kitchen related fabrics. Tables, each with their own wooden box of goodies – cutley, napkins, salt, pepper and sugar – varied in size between two to four, but there’s only one large table suitable for larger group of 8.
