Table for 2 and maybe you review - We only need half a reason to indulge in a short break, and a three-night Luxury Escape deal at the luxurious Santai Resort at Casuarina Beach in northern NSW was the perfect excuse.
While there are plenty of quality restaurants within a short drive, the great thing about staying at Santai is it has one of the best in the region, Spice Den.
The Thai street food-style menu features a wide range of small plates, large plates and three banquet options.
With four at our table we chose the $40 pp banquet (the smallest of the three), which comprised spring rolls, crunchy corn and coriander fritters, BBQ chicken satays, salty squid, pat prik king wagyu beef, coconut grilled chicken curry and duck fried rice.
Apart from the squid, which was overcooked, each other item was well cooked and tasty, especially when combined with some excellent sauces and vegetable and fruit accompaniments.
Interestingly, each one of us had a different favourite dish, from the corn fritters to the wagyu beef, the chicken curry and duck fried rice.
What we all agreed on was the coconut sorbet was the perfect end to a really good meal, filled with a wide range of tasty, spicy plates which was more than enough for the four of us.
If you do get the chance to go, make sure you book, especially on Friday nights and weekends.
Spice Den is operated separately to the resort, and the good news is the owners have recently opened Spice Den Brisbane at 457 Ann Street.
Amazing food and service - very friendly staff - great cocktail list and yummy 🍹🍸 too ~ beautiful view from the restaurant over the retreats pool area - well worth a visit if your in the area - top night thank you 😊
Had an exceptional time at spice den. We absolutely loved every dish that we got and cocktails were marvellous. Service was incredibly attentive. They had great vegan options for us and the food was high quality. Thank you for such a wonderful evening! We will definitely return if we find ourselves in that neck of the woods again. Thanks!
Just had a fabulous meal at the new Spice Den Restaurant at 457 Ann Street Brisbane! Interesting and flavoursome menu - absolutely yummo ! Great wine list and service perfect!
Totally amazing food. Really recommend the chicken and crab wantons and the Massaman curry. The cocktails are also really well done. We had a great experience and loved the service.
Extraordinary flavours, fresh, delicious cocktails, awesome atmosphere & the best cust service. My favourite restaurant by far. Well done Spice Den
Food was amazing, staff so friendly and helpful. They recommended lovely wines and we had an amazing experience! Balmy night and such a beautiful overlook to the pool area of the retreat! You do have to order the crispy Barramundi and Caramel Pork - to die for and such infusion flavours!
OMG what great , delicious , fabulous food. Service was excellent and didn't have to wait long for our food highly recommend. Only wish we had one in Melbourne
We always have a wonderful meal here. Will keep coming back time & time again. Love the complementary coconut sorbet at the end, delicious! The red fish curry is my fav!
The best meal we have have had on our holiday from the UK. Great manager, looked after us at all times. Food was very fresh and tasty. Open one in the UK guys 10/10
My first eatery in Brisbane, a very food place and easy to locate. Very taste food and excellent staff.
Tried chicken pad thai and prawn green curry both were really good. Got a hands on coconut sobret, thanks to the eatery, was really refreshing :).
Highly recommended thai place near central Brisbane.
Cheers
Have been meaning to try out Spice Den since it opened, but only just managed a visit this week. Simple menu so I quickly made my choice of the vegetarian Penang curry. Lots of fresh flavors, plenty of chunky vegetables with good spice combinations, nice chilli hit.
This place is my favourite place to eat in Brisbane. Their prawns are amazing, their duck pancakes insane and the cocktails are brilliant. The interior design is also very nice. It is a little pricey but I love going there! Make sure you book as it gets packed
brilliant. managed to score a booth and really enjoyed our meal. wait staff was very attentive and the duck fried rice is a must! we will be back
Staying at Spire Residence Airbnb and found the Spice Den takeaway menu on the coffee table
My wife looked them up on TripAdvisor and she had me at Chili Margarita
So downstairs we go, Spice Den are just outside on the Ann Street level
We started with Chili Margarita and a Spiced Mojito while we browsed the menu
We started with Crispy Barramundi & Caramel Pork, different combination but Sooo Nice
Then came the Szechuan Salted Soft Shell Crab, speaks for itself really, will become a favorite going forward
Entrees done 🤤
For main we decided on Sticky Beef Ribs, with Chili Jam, Sprouts & Herb Salad and Crispy Shallots
I’ve put the full description as I was bold as brass and asked the waiter for some bread to sop up the sauce 😏
We were treated to an Asian spoon of Coconut Sorbet, on the house and we had a Long Island Iced Tea for Heather and a Cubano Old Fashioned for me to round out the meal
Spice Den has just celebrated their first anniversary in Brizvegas and if tonight’s experience was anything to go by then they will have many more
In the immortal words of Molly; Do Yourself a Flavor get down to Spice Den on Ann Street and begin this journey 💜🙏🏽💜
Deliciously happy **4.5 Stars**
This place is good! Amazingly balanced flavours, dim lit mood lighting, authentic interior design and happy staff.
We ordered a few different dishes to share, my partner and I and as I said, the flavours were so delicate and delicious and really well balanced!
Everything was enjoyable! Even the complimentary coconut sorbet to top it all off. Such a lovely touch to a great evening!
Walked away feeling happy and with full bellies!
So good! Thanks 🙏
Amazing food, great ambience and good service. All the food was amazing with the standout being the special fried rice! Would definitely recommend and come back
Delicious fresh food (ordered the sashimi, wontons, soft shell crab, whole snapper, and dessert) everything came out quickly and staff were all lovely! We even got complimentary sorbet! 😋
I came here for my birthday on Saturday with my family. It was a busy atmosphere and we had great service which was friendly. The setting was lovely and modern. The food itself was absolutely delicious- pork belly and lamb roti are outstanding.
I was absolutely Buzzing when i saw this venue pop up as a recommendation, you know me so well Zomato! I have been to the Kingscliff venue a couple of time when i was there, and i wished they would open in Brisbane! So thank you!!!!!
I came here on the weekend with a couple of friends, and straight away we were vibe-ing!
When you walk in there is an atmosphere, its low lighting and decorative furnishings are unique and i had a great feeling about the night to come based on the buzz. It was super busy which was a good sign, and i was hopeful that it would be the same quality as the Kingscliff venue.
I asked them what their specialty was, and they said their Pork Belly, so we got it, along with szechuan fried chicken, some sticky beef ribs with chilli jam and the shredded duck fried rice!
OMG!
We loved all the dishes but have to agree that the pork belly had something special! If you go, you have to make sure you order that one.
So happy that Brisbane has a new Asian Fusion Restaurant!!!
Can't wait to come back :)
Amazing restaurant! Luxe fit-out in the dark of the night with perfect mood lighting. Service was friendly and reasonably fast. Great cocktail menu and hugely tempting food menu. I tend to overeat when I am traveling and eating alone because I want to try everything on the share menu! I chose corn and coriander fritters, soft duck pancakes and crispy calamari. Everything was delicious but I especially loved the duck pancakes. The lychee was a great inclusion. Finished off with a complimentary sorbet which was lovely and then was given one of those cute little hand towels that looks like a mint but expands in water. Love those! I'm glad I didn't let the incorrect opening hours on Zomato prevent me from going here.
Went here for lunch at had the $35pp banquet. The food came out quick and the food was so good. A lot of food and felt more than full. Would recommend going as a group and get ready to have some tasty food. Service was excellent.
When down in Kingscliff, Spice Den is always on my radar for dining, so now they are in Brissy, I think I must have been one of the first people through the door. A great addition to the City’s dining options and it’s location spreads the love a little further beyond the Eagle St and George St zones which further lifts the city’s credentials as a dining destination I feel.
The pork belly is hands down the go to dish and whilst you will enjoy the majority of the menu, you absolutely must have the pork belly!!
Thanks for coming to Brisbane Spice Den!!!
Been there numerous times for both drinks and food and was never disappointed. High level of service and the food is amazing quality for the price. Cocktails and wine list is pretty impressive too. Only thing we wish is a bigger menu to try out more of their stuff
Lovely, sophosticated, old-world atmosphere. The staff were friendly and attentive. We had 2 smaller dishes and 1 large dish between 2 people and this was more than enough for us. There's a mixture of asian cuisines, which often makes me a little worried, but the food was great. The schezwan soft shell crab and the roti were mouth-wateringly good. Beef was good, but not great. Definitely worth visiting....I'd like to visit again to try the rest of the menu!

Went for a team lunch at the place and a fancy place indeed for Brisbane. Zero complaints on the quality or quantity of what was served (at a premium) and the service was good too. Gluten free options available and they accept Amex so that went well for office members. I would indeed go again for a date night ;) and the interesting cocktail names would provide a interesting topic to talk about.
Thanks for the complimentary icecream sorbet and the fancy (innovative indeed) hand towelette.
We live in the apartment next to this place so decided to come and try it out. The interior is nicely decorated but it is a little crowded as there are many people in a relatively smaller space. But there is a reason there are many people - it is because the food is just so good! We ordered a few dishes and they were just exceptional! Normally I am not a big fan o prawns but the prawns in the green curry were amazing. It is a little expensive but if you have a special occasion or feel like going to slightly fancier place, then make sure you give this restaurant a chance. You will love it!
Current favourite dish here is the pad prik king ($28) - dry wagyu curry - which is packed full of flavour and also spicy. I usually have this with white rice. Price point is probably higher than average but I think it’s worth it. Nice decor, comfortable seating, good service. This is a regular spot of mine, will definitely be back.
Brilliant food , great service . We were just walking past and saw it and went in. Will definitely go back !!
Absolutely delicious food, really helpful staff (without being over attentive or interrupting). We shared three entree and a main, and were kindly given complimentary coconut sorbet as it was our anniversary. Worked out to be one of the cheaper anniversary dinners we have had too.
Will happily return.
