What a great little spot. We got there early so parking was early. The service was courteous and efficient and the coffee was delicious. The breakfast meal was perfect with my eggs just right and just enough bacon. I'm not sure why, and so many cafes and restaurants do it , but why do we have to have all these fancy ' breads ' , i.e. Sour doughs etc. they are often like bits of rock. Couldn't I just have like ...... toast type toast. You know , bread that's toasted.
Anyway , I loved Artie and Mai and will recommend it and certainly return
Atmosphere fantastic. Love the rustic look. Service fantastic. Friendly and helpful staff. Then the food. I had the pork belly sandwich. Fantastic. The wife had the spring onion and feta hash cakes with a side of pulled pork. Absolutely amazing. Our favourite cafe by far. We also had a mocha and a chai latte. Fantastic. Recommend this place if you are in Brisbane
The food was delicious and the staff were lovely! Would recommend to anyone for a lovely sunday breakfast.
Awesome food, staff and service to match. Great atmosphere and really nice place to have a Sunday Brunch. Very select menu with little differences which make the meals.
The food is amazing and the atmosphere is wonderful. However, I have to say the customer service makes this place. Every staff member is incredibly lovely and delivers A+ service and smile. I highly recommend for breakfast!
First time at Artie & Mai and I will be back. Food was amazing but above everything else the staff were incredible, every single one of them!!!! I will be back for sure, thanks for such a lovely breakfast experience xxxx
One of the best breakfast cafes in Bris. Cool venue, great food that doesn't try to hard and fantastic staff
Great breakfast, huge portions. Service quick even when really busy. Great price, amazing food, service and air conditioned. Thanks guys
Awesome place, great food, great atmosphere, wonderful service!! We will definitely be back.
Absolutely delicious food and the service and environment was spot on! The mushys with spinach, Super yum
The breakfast and service was amazing! Our son and his girlfriend told us about this place so we had to come here - all the way from Canberra! Amazing!!!!
Food was tasty and decent size portions. Service was pleasant. Menu has enough variety to suit everyone at the table. Coffee was quite tasty. Large open area with high ceilings was quite nice.
Very warm atmosphere, great coffee and good choices on the menu. I visited mid week for breakfast, so there was no long wait times for a table or for food. I ordered the eggs Benedict with an extra potato hash. Very generous with the salmon and eggs were delicious. Would love to check out this place and more of their menu items, perhaps during lunch! Will be back again.
Love most of the dishes in flavour and presentation. The okonomiyaki waffle was a little let down as I expected more cabbage and some Bonita flakes. The pork belly was cooked perfectly and waffle was crisp but little bland. We love the fish taco the most in that visit. And the juice special of the day : watermelon, pear and lime was perfect for a hot day.
Always amazing food for breakfast and great coffee. Love that you can book a table here. It’s one of my go to breakfast spots. Great customer service too.
Oh such a lovely place to visit. Staff are kind and friendly, coffee is good and food is great (although I like their old menu better!)- bring back your mushroom breakfast dish that was one of my faves!
Friendly service and food came out quick!! Omg those hash cakes YUMMO!! Lemon ice tea was great too ... always worried that their too sweet but this was perfect
Only in Bris Vegas for a couple of days and my brother took me here for breakfast.
I loved it!
He had simply eggs on toast with a side of relish, my friend opted for the BIG BREAKFAST which looked great and I devoured the Brunch Burger, I added chorizo and it really hit the spot.
Coffee was tasty and service was quick and friendly, I highly recommend
This place is a really cool trendy cafe, has a lot of beautiful ambience. A really nice place to take a group of friends for a drink on the weekend. The food here is good for standard type orders but there’s nothing really exceptional about the ingredients or recipes. They’re super prepared here for busy periods though and they’re standard of food always comes out the same meaning good quality control. They also have a sick coffee.
Rustic cafe with exposed brick walls, buzzing with friendly staff and happy customers. Stepping inside, you feel instantly at home as you're greeted with a warm welcome. We managed to nab a table on the proviso we could vacate it in 40 minutes for a prior reservation. No problem! Great cafe and breakfast fare. My only feedback is that the whole spices be fished out of the homemade muesli as bits of star anise is not all that pleasant to munch on.
Great breakkie/brunch place. Very friendly service, excellent, tasty and slightly above average priced selection of food. Typical menu of classic Aussie breakkie dishes with a few nice twists. They also have a private dining room at the back which is perfect for special occasions with friends/family.
Discovered this café while I was having my bagel at the Brewbakers across the road. My gaze was attracted by the red colour building where this café was located. Went there on Father's day. Although I was early, they almost could not offer me any table due to most of them were reserved. Fortunately, they managed to offer me one table but needed to return it in an hour. I immediately ordered my flat white and the Bacon and Egg Roll. They served me the Belaroma coffee with a very nice coffee art and strong in flavour. Hero was the roll, or I should say the burger. Nice presentation and the Sunny egg stood out so much that I could hold myself to suck the egg yolk without delay. The roll was so fresh and soft just like a steamed bun. Bacon was cooked in perfection. I eventually found a place doing such kind of roll in a perfect way. Thumb-up!
Great service - the staff are attentive and the food was fast. Everything was lovely (especially the iced coffees) but would like some balsamic or an oil to balance the crusty bread next time!
A wonderful, rustic industrial atmosphere with amazing food. An excellent menu with a wide selection. Great coffee and friendly service. If you're looking for a breakfast option, then this is the place.
Food is always superb, spectacular service, friendly staff and great atmosphere. Perfect for brunch. Weekends they do sometimes have a wait but turn around it pretty fast :)
Loved everything about my visit to Artie & Mai. I had the potato and feta hash cakes which were delicious as well as wonderful juice and coffee. Everything was served very promptly. Reasonable pricing and trendy decor. Service was above and beyond. The staff were really lovely and looked like they were enjoying themselves which transferred positively to their service and created an overall welcoming and wonderful breakfast experience. Would highly recommend!
Friendly, prompt service.
Breakfast was nice; standard breakfast food.
Lunch menu starts at 11:30am.
Good, busy atmosphere on a Saturday morning.
Awesome and inventive place. Very cool breakfasts. Specials are usually really special. The place for your perfect breakfast with someone special. Good coffee and awesome fresh juices.
Only been here once and it was fantastic. Coffee was good and the atmosphere was fabulous. Great service, very well priced, great range of food also. Very popular and we ended up walking there due to a shortage of parking. But it's such a nice cafe, I'd recommend to anyone
Lovely place with good food and good atmosphere. The fish tacos are super yummy! Friendly staff and quick service. Would definitely go back!
I'm pretty sure this place dishes out one of the best Eggs Benedict in Brisbane. Their hollandaise is more like a bernaise, it has so much flavour and its what makes the dish amazing. Their servings are soooo big. You get two thick toasted pieces of the freshest sourdough (which they probably get from Brewbakers located just in front), 2 perfectly poached eggs, 4 big rashers of bacon, spinach and loads of hollandaise to top it off. I always order a side of their hashbrowns. They are so flavorsome and come deep fried in a ball shape. Their service is always fast and friendly. Their coffee is also really nice and their freshly squeezed orange juice is so refreshing.
Have had our eyes on this place for a while! Boy oh boy it's definitely a next level up from your typical bacon and eggs. The plating of the meals are impressive and look beautiful. I had the hash cakes with poached egg and smoked salmon. Ummm YUM! It was a great atmosphere and service was attentive yet not annoying, which is what you want. Coffee was delish and they were big sizes for what you got which is always a win ! Will defs be back
Yum! Great atmosphere, fast service and smiles all round. I love this local favourite but tend to steer clear during the weekend with the big crowds.
Breakfast was an all round good experience. Excellent coffees, breakfast was very tasty and portions were generous, but not overly large. Would come again.
The cutest cafe I've been to Brisbane! Beautiful atmosphere and seating, staff are warm and welcoming and the building itself is a pretty red. Food 100% lives up to the scenery and service. Prices are just like your casual Cafes for a good breakfast, $14-$18 maybe a little more if you wanted to add extras and the serving sizes are generous yet not overwhelming.
Good location, good food - breakfast - great presentation and feel and excellent service. Coffee ok. The staff are friendly and I love the fit out - a bit noisy inside but then that adds to feel.
I have since updated my review to increase this to a 5 - the food and portion sizes are spot on and this is the only cafe I have been to that knows what a real Indian chai tea truly is.
Food 4/5
Service 4/5
Atmosphere 4/5
Food was great. My banana smoothie was a tad too sweet though. And the service was quick and friendly too. Our coffee took awhile to arrive but the waitress was friendly and immediately check on it. The cafe was very spacious with many sittings too. The interior feel cozy with brick walls and a large window on one side. Nice little place the relax with friends.
Wonderful atmosphere and one of the nicest coffees around. Quick service that delivers a ridiculously tasty meal. The brekkie menu is amazing with a dash of quirk.
FOOD =3.5 +
SERVICE=4
AMBIENCE=4
First time here and tried breakfast menu only and it was good. Large serves and filling. Good menu choice and good tasting food. Recommend eggs bennedict, banana french toast and spring onion hash cakes. Mango milkshake (slightly disspointing on flavour, not much mango taste, but creamy). Tropical fizz was good.
Love going back to this place.
My partner and I really enjoy coming here for impromptu "second breakfasts" of poached eggs on toast with avocado, eggs benedict and deliciously strong coffee. It has a nice atmosphere and aesthetic, plus the staff are always friendly and polite.
We went for lunch and we're not disappointed. The strawberry milkshake was yummy and arrived within minutes. The crispy chicken burger, sticky BBQ pork ribs and wedges only took 10mins and we're all amazing to eat. Only downside is the ocassional road noise and the odd fly that came in through the open door.
Great place for breakfast. I thought we were going to have to find somewhere else because they had a lot of bookings. The food was delicious, the only thing I'd change is having the eggs cooked for a little longer. It was a very busy morning, but the coffee still arrived before the food, and it was only a short wait for food. The staff were attentive and very friendly. Book ahead if you have more than a couple of people to avoid disappointment!
Aaaaaaaaahmazing food. Fresh and also massive servings!
Coffee is delicious and always well made.
Sometimes a little wait but when you're in this high demand I guess you need to expect it.
Worth the wait I assure you!
Try the hash browns ;)
I was really impressed by this cafe this morning, the staff were very attentive and the food came out really quickly. It was very reasonably priced as well!
Visited here for the first time with hubby this morning based on good reviews. Loved it!!! Will definitely go back. Great atmosphere, Melbourne-style feel, prompt and friendly service, and meals were good sized portions and very tasty. Winner!!!
After a mix up with our booking time, we were seated in the very busy cafe. Service seemed a little cold at first but improved as the afternoon went on so I would put that down to the stress of a busy Sunday service. I had the spring onion and feta hash cakes which came out crispy; however seemed to lack in feta. I also felt the menu was a little misleading as it said it came with poached eggs but only came with one egg. I also had the tropical J fizz which lacked any fizz. The general consensus at the table was that the food overall was okay but there was room for improvement considering the competition of so many good quality cafes popping up in Brisbane.
Went to Artie and Mai for lunch today. It always seems busy so I wanted to give it at try. The pulled port hot spud special was nice. Atmosphere was cosy, great little local cafe. Service was good. $50 for the two of us so little pricey as my partner only had avo on toast.
The food at Artie and Mai was delicious and made me feel at home. The menu wasn't extensive but all the meals were unique and sounded nice. The staff were really friendly and welcoming. I would highly recommend it! 💕
This place was wonderful. Really cute timber decor. The shop is broken into sections giving the spaces an intimate feel. It is located on Sandgate Rd so if you are seated outside like we were it was a little noisy at times.
The service was great as we were quickly seated and dishes came out quickly. They were also great with my friends two year old getting a high chair and giving her a coloring in sheet and pencils.
The menu had standard dishes such as avocado toast but also had innovative dishes such as the lemon and lime panna cotta with seasonal fruit. I had the Panna Cotta as I was intrigued by it being a breakfast item. It was so lovely and light and not too sweet. The fruit and nuts complimented it perfectly. My husband had blueberry banana loaf which he said was delicious. Coffee was good, not great. They did have lactose free milk which was good. The cafe was well priced.
If I lived on the Northside I would go to this cafe regularly.
Came here for breakfast/brunch. Food was fresh and the dishes were quite large. Food was delicious and presented well. Great decor and atmosphere. The only problem was parking. On a weekday parking is a nightmare.
Came here for breakfast. Enjoyed the coffee, banana smoothie was fantastic. Had the special feta omelette - never thought I'd say this but it was too big. $4 for a side of mushrooms also a bit rich. Anyway overall very good!
Nice local cafe that I like to visit on a lazy Sunday. Coffee is good and food is not too bad either but nothing spectacular. I had the sauteed mushroom on toast with poached egg and it was tasty. My partner had the chicken burger and fries which is available for breakfast.
If I wasn't a local than I probably would not come out here as often as there is so many cafe restaurants in Brisbane that is popping up that I love to try but service is friendly and the coffee is good so that is a winning combination for me.
Came here at 130pm on a Sunday, they have great range of all day breakfast served until 3pm. Love it, u know cause u wanna sleep in on a Sunday but still able to grab a breaky. Just me maybe. Back to the cafe, I had the mushroom poached egg with sourdough. The egg was over cooked but as soon as we told the waitress she understood n brought us a perfect one with no drama.
Wow - amazinnnggg brunch! We had a table of 10 and everyone had great looking and tasting breakfasts. They were very helpful and friendly staff. The place is sure to impress!
Brunch. Passing through Albion on mid Sunday and randomly picked Artie & May.
Was warmly greeted seated and attended to promptly.
Chose the recommended special for the day which was Sweet Corn Fritters.
Excellent dish.
Great little cafe / bar
Brilliant meal, fast service. Corn fritters the best I've ever had.
What a nie meal. I had the hash cakes and it was delicious. The sauces it came with went so well with the hash cakes. It was generous in size and it tasted good. Their juice was average, I had the J Fizz I think and it tasted more just like orange juice however my friend had their coffee and said that it was pretty good. I actually can't wait to head back to be honest, those hash cakes were delicious.
Decent food. Nice breakfast and dinner here, overall pretty decent cafe food that satisfies. Breakfast I'd recommend the hash cakes, but avoid the chicken dukka burger as it's pretty flavourless. Good selection of juices but the coffee is run of the mill.

+4.5
We had breakfast here today and it was great. Friendly fast service, tasty food, good coffee and rustic interior, this place is worth the drive to get there.
Great service, amazing food. Just had dinner here with a friend. We ordered from the small plates menu and shared the scallops, the haloumi and the barra croquettes. Wonderful combination of flavours and textures. Really interesting, tasty food. I finished with the "cheese plate", which was amazing, although too large a serve. My friend had the deconstructed strawberry cannelloni and there wasn't a crumb remaining. The staff were helpful and attentive. I'd highly recommend Artie and Mai.
Best breakfast!. We're locals so have been here a few times for breakfast, lunch and dinner and never been disappointed.
This morning we took a group of 7 incl international and interstate visitors and everyone loved it. I had the 'Zucchini mint & haloumi fritters with chorizo and a poached egg' and it was the best breakfast I can remember having. Absolutely delicious! I want to go back tomorrow to get it again. The banana french toast was also a highlight.
Went for dinner tonight. Staff were lovely, personable and attentive. Food was great and come out quickly. Thoroughly enjoyed and will be back for sure
G20 today and we are visiting the area and tried breakfast here. It was amazing - we ordered the halloumi and the mushrooms. Both dishes were vegetarian and AMAZING!!! Thanks, Team!
Super nice !!. Came for late lunch on a Monday afternoon, I love the menu choices + very individual and creative options for the herbivores. I also like the fact that it's more a brunch menu, rather than separate breakfast & lunch. We went for the beetroot/apple rosti & bara tacos which were both super yum, rosti was the right amount for me, but the husband could go have gone one extra taco or an avo salsa. But definitely not a show stopper, still fantastic and delicious and will definitely coming back for sure! In the end our meals & freshly made juices were super affordable. Staff was super lovely, thanks for having us !!
Great food and atmosphere! Gem of Albion. What a gorgeous place! Love Love Love. Such a cute and cosy fit out- I haven't found the best places around Albion so this is honestly a gem! One of my new favorite cafes. Gorgeous selection of menu items available. I loved the french toast wrapped in prosciutto... too die for. And the baked beans with chorizo is sensational! Great coffee, great atmosphere, great service.
Best muesli. I'm a bit strange I think...my favourite meal to eat out is breakfast, but I hate bacon & eggs, so I normally have muesli or something similar. So when I say this is the best muesli I've had in Brisbane I'm certainly not exaggerating! I can't even describe it, I just inhaled it in all in a gluttonous blur. I was also smart enough to wash it down with a Nutella hot chocolate. A-Mazing! Love the fit out of this place and the food. You barely realise you're along a busy main road. The service was great as well. I'd definitely recommend trying this place - and do yourselves a favour - try the muesli!
I looked at the other reviews and am surprised at those less than complimentary ones. I can only assume things have changed between their visit and mine this morning.
Lovely welcome, nice decor, fast service. My Belaroma coffee was made to perfection. Awesome start! Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon was a generous serve with a delicious house made hollandaise. My son had the kids pancakes with vanilla ice cream and reports they were 'super dooper good'! We will be back. You should try it. Not much to choose from around this area where the coffee and food are both good. I can name a number of great brekkie places but the coffee is usually terrible. Artie and Mai have both! Thanks guys
Diana. Giving this the thumbs down only for one major reason-they forgot to deliver our food!! We received coffee which was quite OK, then waiting waiting waiting!! In the end I decided to ask where our food was-Oh have you not received your food yet? the waitress proclaimed in cheery surprise. Turned out the order had not even been handed in-enough said!
Return visit this time we actually received food.! I have to say the fritters were the best I have ever eaten anywhere. The bread they used with the avocado was also amazing stuff. Am assuming they get it from Brewbakers across the road? Correct me if I am mistaken here ?
Places like Artie & Mai are what Brisbane is missing. I have been there for a couple of breakfasts and recently tried the dinner menu and wow. Right from go it was an excellent dining experience. Really lovely service, friendly staff, smiling chefs and the food was superb. The cereal milk panna cotta dessert was creative and tasty. I'll be recommending Artie & Mai for a long time to come!
Sooooo tasty! Exactly the kind of place we have been looking for since moving to brisbane; food full of flavour but not trying too hard, great atmosphere, good music, friendly staff. Lovely evening!
Great food but $8 for a smoothie is daylight robbery
Know what they're doing. Well designed throughout. Nice industrial chic design but spacious & solid, traditional but varied breakfast menu, attentive & friendly customer service. The pancake stack was delicious - creamy, fresh, soft & way too generous! Needed extra compote but this was sorted within 60 seconds thanks to the excellent wait staff. A very stylish & confident entrant to the cafe scene, nice to see things done with passion & panache.
Great Service. The service was fast and attentive. Coffee was delicious and the place had a really good feel about it. Only dislike was the gluten free bread which was not very nice and turned into a gloopy mess on the plate. That said I will be back to try more of the menu and the dinner menu looks great too!
Odd. Had the oddest bacon and egg burger here. The eggs and bcon were all scrambled together and had maple syrup added to them. Not really the best mix for us which could have been avoided if specified on the menu. Would love to have the basics really well done without trying so hard to be ironic and different. Staff were super friendly though which was a plus.
Had a lovely meal with friends. The chorizo pizza was fantastic, friendly staff and great atmosphere. Would highly recommend this restaurant for a dinner with friends.
Fantastic vibe ! This place is what the area needs, friendly staff and fantastic menu options , super craft beers as well! Highly recommend .
As Mr Pickings had a day free of clients and employees, I decided to shout him a quick lunch out. I had read good things about this fairly new cafe cum bar in Albion village, which is not far from Chez Pickings, the old ancestral. It is in a historic row of shops that has somehow survived the demolitions (and mysterious fires) that have been going on for decades around this area. I really like the look of the cafe's interior. I love the bare pendant bulbs hanging from the pressed metal ceiling, and the exposed brick walls that show through the plaster. I even like the bare concrete floors though it does make the whole place somewhat noisy with even just a few customers, as the sound bounces off the walls and floor. Mr Pickings chose a vibrant passionfruit fizz to start, and I had a beetroot breakdown. (No really, that's the name of the drink.:) I didn't have a breakdown). My drink was very earthy and fresh, and I could feel it doing me good. There are other combos of juices - next time I want the orange, ginger and carrot - plus smoothies and milkshakes, teas, coffees, the usual suspects. This place is licensed so you can drop in for an after-work/pre-dinner drink too. passionfruit fizz $7 beetroot breakdown $7 I absolutely love these jars! They were really nice to hold, and you got a hefty drink for your money. I chose beetroot again for my lunch - a beetroot and apple rosti with smoked salmon, caperberries and horse radish which came in a quenelle-like mound on the plate. I have to say that even for a beetroot lover, this was a wee bit too much beetroot. The apple was not detectable, and the beetroot was a little under-cooked for my liking. I had actually forgotten that it was not a beetroot and potato rosti, so I was expecting more of a potato twist to it. But it was very tasty and fresh, the baby rocket delicious, caperberries - oh my I love them!- and the horse radish a lovely creamy tang along with generous smoked salmon. A really enjoyable re
