Finally a good coffee. It's been a week of bad to average coffee's and thank god the guys at Felix know how to make a good coffee. Requested extra hot and yes l got extra hot. Got a medium and cup is smaller but at least the coffee tasted like coffee. I found the cafe to be pretty cool too. Loved the ambience and l spotted sriracha scramble on their menu. Will be back for that.
I’d been to Felix once previously and didn’t think the food was particularly flavourful - so this time, I ordered what I considered to be the most flavourful dish on the menu “sriracha scrambled eggs”.
I really enjoyed them, the eggs were cooked well. They were still soft and had plenty of the sriracha over them. It also had some sort of pickled/slaw component and that was super yummy. The lime yoghurt sauce really helped to nicely break up the flavour of the eggs and the cashews on top provided for good crunch.
This cafe is also a nice meeting place, it is very airy and open. You will often find people brunching with friends or working on their computer alone at the bar stool area.
Enjoy😊
I’ve got so much good feelings for Felix for goodness!
I ordered the gnocchi which surpassed my expectations and delivered on the healthy comfort food option! Those fluffy potato pillows were dreamy. We got seated straight away, had great service and the atmosphere was fresh and visually appealing.
overall: 4.1/5
gluten free options: 3.5/5
food taste: 4/5
ambience: 4/5
customer service: 5/5
pricing vs quality: 4/5
ordered the gluten free arepa (not vegan). never had an arepa before but it reminded me of a hash brown, only with the potato swapped for their cornmeal. wasn’t too oily so i was glad for that and it provided a nice texture. kinda expected 2 arepas considering the price but oh well. there were 2 poached eggs but one wasn’t runny when i cut into it :( the avocado wasn’t soft and easy to cut into/spread, so i assume it wasn’t at its perfect ripeness. (but i’ll also never say no to avocado lol) altogether everything tasted kind of like nachos, but less crunchy. the chilli chimmichuri was the best part, adding a lovely spicy (mild at most tho) flavour to everything when you had all the elements together.
there wasn’t any element that i disliked so altogether it was a decent dish. although i do find it slightly pricy at $19.5, it is brunch in the city so it’s also what i would expect. service was lovely and speedy and i would be happy to come here again to try some other dishes (hopefully more gluten free options in the future)
Finally came back to this laneway cafe, I had to after I saw this new addition to the menu.
Beautiful interior, great staff, and this was delicious.
I loved the texture of the hotcake and how it reminded me of pumpkin pie, in flavor and texture. And the coffee hit the spot just right :)
Beautifully made coffee with an abundance of choices available on the menu.
Service is generally quite fair and ambience within is nice. A let down is the laneway noise and can often make it difficult to hear any conversation you are trying to have with someone.
Been to Felix a few times and revisited today after not being into the city in a while.
Short Review - I love it!!!
It’s a little bit unique and not your normal ‘same same, but different’ cafe menu that you normally see. Today I had basically a tofu burger. It clearly sells itself better than that on the menu and with slaw, Kim chi, cucumber, it’s a healthy burger alternative that doesn’t leave you requiring a nanna nap in the afternoon.
Great coffee and great food down a CBD Lane way... am I in Melbourne? Nope.
Get around this gem of a place brisbane!!
such a quaint café! came for brunch and the food is so delicious and healthy. the place is tucked away and has a very relaxed feel with music playing in the background. staff are very friendly. would definitely come again. even the bathroom is cute!
Really nice atmosphere and the staff is lovely. The food is amazing especially the bacon and eggs. Well proportioned and delicious. Multiple choices to choose from via beverages and food. However more space to the cafe would be nice.
Went there for brekky once a while back. I think i ordered the wrong thing, the soldiers. they're not that great. Will have to come back for another try i reckon. The place has a nice atmosphere and secluded on the lane.
Had a lovely Friday breakfast here, the dark choc mocha is to die for and the preserves were gorgeous. Super cool ambience too, would love to go again!
Love this cute little place. There are so many healthy food options for breakfast, lunch and dinner (on Fridays). The coffees great, as are the cocktails!
Meatballs And Beef Cheeks
+3.5
Tucked away on Burnett Lane, it is easy to walk right past this unassuming restaurant and espresso/wine bar, but Felix For Goodness is worth a try.
I was in the mood for Eggs Benedict, so I went with the Roast Pumpkin on Sourdough with Apple Cider Vinegar Hollandaise, Poached Eggs and Baby Kale ($18). I added the Bacon ($5) and an extra egg ($3.50).
The eggs were well cooked and the bacon was quite nice, but the addition of the Apple Cider Vinegar to the Hollandaise didn't really work and I was not thrilled with the addition of a significant amount of spring onion/scallions without it being in the description. At $26.50, this was a hearty meal, but quite pricey for breakfast. This rated a 3.5.
My companions enjoyed the Boiled Eggs, Prosciutto wrapped Rye Soldiers and Rosemary Salt ($15) and the Rolled Omelette filled with Roasted and Fresh Tomatoes, Ricotta Salata and Basil served on Sourdough ($18 + $5 for Bacon).
I had serious food envy when I saw the rolled omelette, but I was advised that it also rated a 3.5.
Many thanks to Mandy Bernadette and Cino's Mum for making this a truly memorable experience!
Brekky date with a couple of wonderful foodies!
I have walked past and through Burnett La so many times and never spotted this place! Tucked away neatly, this lovely place offers both seclusion and privacy.
The menu I found quite interesting. They have taken some classics and added their own twist which was quite intriguing. I found myself feeling quite intimidated by all the options.
I finally opted for the Rolled Omelette with tomatoes (fresh and roasted), ricotta salata, kraut, basil and a side of bacon. Very, very flavourful. The omelette was lovely and light with all the flavour and power coming through the filling. I love salt and the kraut provided the perfect amount of saltiness without overpowering the whole dish. The BACON, oh the bacon - yummy, crispy, perfectly rendered streaky bacon - come to mama! So delicious and cooked exactly how I love it. Downfall - if you are going to plate something and serve it, make sure you mention it on the menu. My dish came with kraut on top (I love kraut so it was fine with me) but this was not mentioned on the menu. Incase of allergies specifically, you should only serve what is outlined on the menu.
I loved the gorgeous bakes up at the counter - who am I to stand there and not buy something? To takeaway, I bought the Coffee and Walnut Financier and the Savoury muffin. Both items taste great - lovely, strong coffee scent on the financier with great texture from the walnuts and just the right amount of sweetness. Savoury muffin - definitely tastes better warm (I tried to eat it cold - yep, don't do it). Typical ingredients you would find in a lot of savoury muffins - tomato, fetta and spinach. It's pretty good.
Coffee - soy mocha made with dark chocolate. Creamy, rich and delicious - just how I like it!
Overall, lovely start to the morning - a definite place to go to again.
Ergh weekday mornings & I are not BFFs. But brekkie at Felix this morning definitely brightened up my hump day!
My boiled eggs & prosciutto wrapped rye soldiers were fun & whimsical with a grown up twist. Mmmmm dippy eggs! Details of my cohorts' meals will no doubt follow shortly. [Clue: food was decent.]
It's been a few years since my last visit to this zen-den down Burnett Lane. And the years have been kind. The menu & surroundings have matured and yet (in my case at least) still appeal to the inner child.
Last week I had to run some errands, and before long found myself in Burnett lane, dehydrated and keen for a pick-me-up. Having heard really good things about Felix for Goodness, my companion and I headed over for a coffee. I really enjoyed the rustic feel to the store with its bare brick walls. It was noticeable that whilst it was mid morning on a week day, it was still half full.
While I'm not known to eat vegetarian meals for breakfast (bacon or smoked salmon are my staples), the bento bowl was a great way to start my day - especially the grilled eggplant. The menu is quite diverse but I was disappointed that they are no longer doing the sweet dumplings
Visiting from Melbourne. Popped in for a weekday breakfast. Quite busy at 8am. Staff were really friendly. Service was quick. Lovely decor - really comfy cafe with a cool industrial chic vibe. I got the avocado on sourdough with ricotta and beet kraut with haloumi. My dish plus a coffee was $20. The food was delicious - fresh and tasty ingredients, crunchy toast, good serving of avocado, well seasoned and put together, well presented. Serving size wasn't huge, but I thought good value for the price (I've paid a lot more for avocado on toast). Coffee was okay, not as strong and hot as I like it. They could do with getting some steak knives to cut through the crunchy toast! Overall, really enjoyable breakfast. Only let down was that I didn't love the coffee.
One of Brisbane’s little gems! Felix is a cleverly designed venue situated in a handy inner – city location. Coffee is always superb, and the owners support of local produce is commendable. The food menu is often well executed- occasionally lacking that finishing touch (seasoning, ect) which contributes to the success of a dish. Thoroughly enjoyed the pasta & plonc evenings on a Wednesday night, and was sad to hear that will no longer be going ahead.
Food at Felix was so good! The poached eggs were cooked well and the accompaniments (pickled red cabbage and a beetroot relish) were perfect for a late breakfast. The drinks are alright- not outstanding coffee, but the space is beautiful and it's a good place for meeting up with friends and highlights the laneways in Brisbane. I keep coming back!
Super fresh homemade food. Everything from scratch including flatbread pickles preserves and deserts. Great shop fit and laneway location. Loved it.
Stumbled by this place Saturday while in search for Brew. Was fairly enjoyable. Good food and coffee. Will have to come back and try some of the other items on the menu. Thanks Brisbane, looking forward to our next visit
Hidden Gem in the heart of Brisbane CBD, good wholesome food, friendly service and value for money. A peaceful oasis to enjoy catching up with friends.
Such a gorgeous interior for this cute little cafe on Burnett Lane, we recently gave it a visit as it has been bookmarked for us for a while! Personally for me I felt like something was missing.. The $14 or so fruit salad with coconut yoghurt was good but wasn't that amazing for the price.
I went here during the week and can't say I did not like it! I love the interior decor of the cafe and the ability to sit on the window sill over looking the lane way. I also love the options for dairy free/vegan foods such as the banana bread as well as the menu being quite adaptable.
Came here for a quick lunch and absolutely loved it! Fresh ingredients! Very delicious food! Fantastic presentation! And healthy! You literally eat the colours of the rainbows! Nice ambiance and deco. What more can you ask for? Oh, And the coffee was delicious too!
The spinach, kale and fetta scone was out of this world, would definitely recommend! The poached eggs, polenta chips, pumpkin, rhubarb and spinach brekkie was pretty good. Only problem was the inconsistency of the food on my plate - one egg was beautifully runny, the other was a bit overcooked; one polenta chip was perfect (maybe a little on the salty side?), but the other was completely tasteless! Great atmosphere though
Came here for lunch today and had a great experience. Very reasonably priced and great food. Loved the interior fit out, but it would be great if there was some air conditioning - particularly on a hot day!
Fantastic breakie - fresh organic ingredients & beautifully presented. A must is the espresso frappe made from cashew milk - yum!
Only downside is no air con on a hot day.
I came here the other night with a friend and I absolutely loved the food and so did my friend. I got the sweet potato falafel which was crispy and served on a bed of hummus. My friend got the cheese board and loved the selection and little fruits and nuts. Overall really good experience and service.
Good atmosphere, decent coffee & creative menu. I had the breakfast dumplings which looked great but were a bit dry. Could have done with a bit of food lube - yoghurt or such. Table service would also be a good addition, who has to order at the counter these days?
Been here twice for the month, love it located in the alley, and love sitting by the big window looking at the alley. coffee was great, just think they can make the dishes bigger.
Tucked away in Burnett Lane, a place where you have to go because you know about it. I went for breakfast and aimed for the fritta with pork belly. Unfortunately this is,no longer on the menu, however the avocado on sourdough with poached egg, pickled slaw and halomi was delicious. On top the chai was good and not sweet, the way I like it.
Service was friendly. I would recommend this place and come back for more.
Why not full marks? The offering is limited.
Top notch. This joint is ace. The staff are awesome, coffee is great & food is thumbs up. Definitely the cleanest food you will find in the city.. no awful additives or sneaky contaminants
Chocolate brownie to die for. As the title says: The chocolate brownies are to die for. I wasn't sold on the coffee. But maybe I just got one on an off day. I will be going back for the Chocolate brownies!!!!!
Love it! Best coffee in brisbane CBD and an awesome set up. Went for breaky and it was also delicious.
Amazing cafe wine bar loft atmosphere great food and service will be back
Anyone who doesn't think Brisbane is cool ought to pay a little visit to Burnett Lane. Tucked into a little nook and up a narrow staircase is the very cool Felix Espresso & Winebar. I met with some girlfriends a few weeks ago for a before work breakfast. Walking in, I was surprised at how small Felix is, with only room for around 15 people. However Felix uses the space it does have well, with a split level dining area, seating on the lower level and espresso machine and kitchen up top. There is also a wonderful mural of the sky on one wall which is lovely to gaze at while you sup. Head in the clouds. With such a small space, the menu is quite small but Felix focuses on organic and whole foods with some raw items appearing on the menu too. So it's very much about quality over quantity. Even though the menu is limited with less than a dozen items on the menu for both breakfast and lunch, there are a selection baked goods as well as a few extra items on the specials board.
Felix is small and quiet. You might be sitting right in the centre of the CBD, but ambient noise and the rush of hurried office workers do not disturb your meal. Tucked into the laneway, Felix is rather a peaceful little hidey-hole.
Felix, which is quite tucked away, is just up a flight of stairs that takes also takes you to the back of the Record exchange, has enough room to comfortably sit about fifteen people. It's small, but it uses space spectacularly, with the main dining area residing in a sunken lounge area that looks out over colourful Burnett Lane. The view is made even more colourful by the tinted windows that dominate the front of the room.
I feel that we are getting one step closer to where Melbourne is at with their food scene with places like Felix Espresso & Winebar popping out around Brisbane city. Hidden in Burnett Lane within the CBD, this small cafe is the answer to your caffeine quick fix. Where food is treated with upmost respect and keeping it true to its taste. Simplicity is the key. All I had was avocado and cream cheese on sourdough toast, great company, lovely atmosphere and a cuppa and that totally made my day. We enjoyed their generous serving of avocado. Their fresh chai was flavoursome with a tad of sweetness for a finishing touch of perfection. And their hot chocolate was true to its flavour, and not too sweet, just the way I like it. We also tried their apple cinnamon cake which was lovely. It was moist and dense on the inside with a nice crisp on the outer layer. Although it was a tad too sweet for me, it is probably a personal prefere
Lunch time is especially busy for this establishment that offers a rather healthy and well-balanced menu, and more often than not, you'll find yourself sharing a community table with ten others.
Well, A taste of Melbourne in Brisbane. I like it. The food is different, fancy and tasty, oh and healthy as well. It’s been a while since I’ve traveled to Brisbane and was not expecting to find this in Brisbane. Highly recommended if you’d like non-traditional cafe food. I was jealous when my colleague ordered the big breakfast!!!
Very busy!! Be quick to get in and grab a table! Only one slice of avo for $17, and the French Toast was $24 in the pics, it was nice atmosphere. Little on the pricey side for what you get, but was very delicious. Waiters were lovely!
Arrived at 12.30 pm for brunch on a Tuesday and the cafe was bustling with people. It took me a while to find it as it was located on the side of a narrow driveway which can be overlooked quite easily. Really love the ambiance in this cafe; great natural lighting and lovely interior.
Tried the Hash Brown, Salt + Pepper Octopus, Single Origin Batch Brew, and Iced Latte w Soy. The food overall was pretty good, the coffee was amazing! My friend enjoyed the hash brown. For the Salt + Pepper Octopus, I felt like it was a bit overpriced for the amount of octopus served. The octopus tentacles that seem to be covered in the Salt + Pepper seasoning were not as tasty and it made the tentacles taste fake as it was kind of overcooked... I do find the ingredients used for the food healthy and overall pleasant to eat.
Might not come back for the food next time but happy to try their pastries as there were some on display that look really good! Will come back to have coffee again!
Very nice coffee hidden in the city. Very quiet area. The food was delicious with excellent asian flavours and the smoothies were really good. The service was super quick and efficient.
The organisation is not really efficient we had to wait 40 minutes to get a table while we have been told 10-15minutes. Tables remained empty while patrons are waiting downstairs.
This has to be one of the best places I have been to for breakfast in Brisbane, and I do not regret waiting in line to get in. The coffee has this lovely flavour that came through the oat milk and the aftertaste was beautiful. The breakfast I ordered was just the perfect serve, enought to fill you in and it was more on the healthier side of things. It was a great take on big breakfast but a more healthier alternative. The vibe of the joint is so relaxing and the staff are so friendly, you feel welcomed from the first time you step in until you leave.
The coffee, cake, and meals here are all lovingly made on-site, have lots of flavour and inspiration, and are beautifully presented. It's a good spot to sit in and have breakfast or brunch while overlooking Burnett Lane, or to grab some takeaway.
Ordered the tofu katsu, it was surprisingly a big piece of tofu that's been fried with pickled slaw to cut out the greasiness of the deep fried tofu. Flavours were well balanced and quite delicious. Customer service is really friendly, food comes out quickly, nice atmosphere inside. A little pricey but to be expected in the CBD. Overall, worth trying.
A great sport for breakfast / brunch - our food was delicious and the portion size was awesome. We also got a Chai latè and berry frappé (forgot to take photos), both were good. The price crept up a little, but we felt the food we got was worth it. The space inside is very cosy, but makes for a lively vibe when it’s busy. Overall, worth a visit!
