Went on a sunday morning, place was packed so we had a short wait for a table which we were informed of by the friendly staff, the coffee and juice was amazing, the food was even better. Great menu and the cookies on the counter were awesome. See you soon �
The food was great, but customer service was excellent. Having breakfast at the Rare Pear started our day off on a very high note. The staff showed that the customer mattered. I will be back and I will recommend this cafe to all.
Table service was very good. Waitress was warm and friendly. Freshly squeezed juice was just refreshing. I had salt and pepper Calamari which was crispy and so tasty. The light batter was mixed with smoked paprika . I won't hesitate to recommend Rare Pear to food lovers!
I am fussy person who has been living last 2 years Brisbane , i never found a place before that i can enjoy that much with the food and atmosphere . I amazed with breakfast definitely go try !!

My first visit ever for breakfast, well worth the drive. Friendly staff. Delicious food, cooked and seasoned to perfection. The menu is very tempting and well balanced, filled with wonderful flavours. These guys love their food and you can tell by the quality, presentation and care. We took a Giant cookie home with us as well as a momento. Support great local businesses! High recommended :)

Had a vegetarian brekkie here on last Thursday.
Frankly, I have not been back over one and a half year and noticed the new management here since my last visit.
Being owned by a group of Asian, menu has been changed. I ordered a vegetable salad sandwich and a flat white.
Coffee of Schibello brew was not bad at all. The sandwich took a longer time than normal to be prepared but it tasted good with surprising generous fillings.
Should be a good place to return for this vegetarian brekkie next time.

Feeling peckish I pull up across the road from The Rare Pear for lunch. The Manager here is friendly and experienced, ensuring everyone is attended to.
My Burmese lunch, Meatballs, Potatoes & Rice ($12.90) is served steaming hot and smells great! The Meatballs are tasty and the gravy is delicious. A cheap and satisfying meal. Thank you guys!
Delicious, amazingly presented food and efficient service. They accommodated us for a very late breakky even when it was close to their closing time, thank you Rare Pear. I had the field mushrooms with truffle oil on sourdough. Intense amazing flavours. Hubby had the biggest breakfast he could find on the menu and he said every aspect was delicious. Smooth coffee and friendly alert service. Thanks again guys. Will be back. Easy parking at the rear and very handy to home for us!
We always love the food here, and the servings are incredibly generous! The venue itself is a little run down and most people prefer the outdoor seating, but with food this delicious, who cares?!
Met some family here for small gathering. It was probably our third visit. The staff have always been exceptionally friendly and on this visit they went out of their way to accommodate my brothers 8month old baby.
The coffee/iced coffee/ chocolate is always great, which came with some beautiful curled chocolate as a topper that was a nice touch. See pics.
The food presentation was great with the salmon and potato cakes arriving among a cluster of fried sweet potato shavings. However the dish really lacked a punch of salmon flavor and wasn't as tasty as the description led on.
The corned beef toasted sandwich on the other hand was everything a sandwich should be. When my cousin let me try a bite, I almost put the whole thing down my gob. Pickled cabbage a winner.

Stumbled upon this place for brunch. Great food and excellent friendly service. It was a very busy morning and we had a wait a little for our food but it was worth it! A friend ordered a long black and he said, it was the best coffee he had in a long time. I ordered the wild mushroom and cheesy polenta, loved it! Highly recommend this dish if you love mushroom and polenta 😊
Food wise it was great. We had two big vego breakfasts which were massive and rich. The coffee was fantastic too. Staff were nice and attentive. Quick service.
Ambience was ok, tables are a bit jammed and lots of traffic noise. In general: recommended.

Another day, another exam at Griffith Uni and another opportunity to unwind at a Southside cafe! With a cute and catch name this place can be found on Logan Road, but don’t fear because there is ample parking behind the cafe and on the nearby side streets. When I arrived I was greeted my warm and friendly staff, and there was plenty of seating available inside and outside. The Salmon and Potato cakes caught my eye and they were delish! Loved the atmosphere and convenience to the Nathan campus. Thanks for a great lunch! 😊

I had eggs Benedict and it was perfect in every way. Offering cracked pepper was an awesome touch.

Came for breakfast on Thursday morning at 7:15. The wait time for food was quite long but fortunately I wasn't in a hurry. The food was delicious. I had the haloumi on sour dough with whipped feta and sun-dried tomato. I added a poached egg which I think completed the dish. The egg and haloumi were cooked perfectly. The coffee was smooth and not bitter. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Friends had the eggs Benedict with herbed hollandaise and the bacon and eggs. Both were filling and executed well.

It's a good idea to book because after about 9am they're busy and you may have to wait for a table.

This place has really picked up this last year. We have been multiple times now and is our go to for breakfast. Consistently good coffee and good food. The only negative comment I have is that waiters/waitresses don’t ask for your drink order early enough.. often find ourselves ordering coffee and food at the same time 10+ mins after seating.

This quaint cafe is the epitome of delicious and cuteness. They are always packed so in order to secure a spot-make sure you book in advance.

The mocha comes with a side of chocolate just in case you need some more goodness to perfection. I ordered the chorizo and eggs benedict with feta. Divine! I could keep going back for more & the portion size was perfect.

This cafe has been around for a little while now. When it first opened my wife and I ate there a few times and really enjoyed it - the food was smart, consistent and priced fairly. Have been back a couple of times more recently and have not enjoyed the food as much (maybe a change of ownership or chef?). Parking is down side streets so depending on how busy it is this might mean a short walk. Coffee is pretty consistent and the staff are generally on point.
Best breakfast I've had out in months! Very generous serve, and great balance of flavors. Wonderful service and great coffee. Also he was great with my 5yr old niece helping entertain her. Win win win!!
Catching up with a dear friend for brunch, we were gonna go to deedot but they were having their roof fixed, so we decided to try rare pear. It was such a delightful experience, food was so delicious, generous serving and very friendly but not the "in your face all the time" service! Coffee is just how I like it, not too strong but strong enough for me and not too hot. Had the sautéed chorizo, potato chats and roasted capsicum with crumbed haloumi, the haloumi was to die for 😋 will definitely go back to try other dishes 😊
It's easy to understand why The Rare Pear is such a popular destination on the southside of Brisvegas. We arrived without a booking on a busy public holiday but managed to jag a table. The service was a bit slow but not unreasonably so since it was a very busy day. The food was amazing and was definitely worth the wait. The baked pumpkin with housemade hoummous and poached eggs was one of the best meals I've ever eaten and packed with flavour. I also tasted the Ricotta Pancakes with honeycomb and caramel sauce and it was to die for good! Worth a repeat visit for sure.

We've always been big fans of the Rare Pear, their menu is elaborate and all the dishes are awesome. Each dish at The Rare Pear seems to have a never ending list of components and ingredients, which we love, and the dishes will definitely leave you satisfied all day. There can be quite a wait on meals especially on weekends when it is very busy but the food is always worth it.
I visited The Rare Pear for the first time a month ago and was really impressed. The menu offered a good range of meals including both classic and modern options.
The only struggle of my dining experience at The Rare Pear was the choice between the ricotta stuffed pancakes and sweet potato and haloumi fritter...to tend to my sweet tooth or my hunt for a tasty fritter. The fritter hunt won and I was so pleased that it did! A perfectly balanced meal with crispy flavoursome fritters, perfectly poached eggs, sweet beetroot hummus, bursting tomatoes, sharp creme fraiche, tender asparagus and crunchy spiced dukkah. Adjective and breakfast heaven!
I will be returning to tend to my sweet tooth and work my way through the menu.
On the Pricey side but the food WAS so good. The standout dish WAS the prawn salad (NOW TAKEN OFF THE MENU) with a dusting of some amazing spice. Sorry, but the watermelon salad does not compare. PLEASE BRING BACK the (old) prawn salad. Many of my friends feel the same way and haven't been since. I would have scored a 4.5 with that salad. Sadly without it, the choices feel limited.
Really nice and inventive food! Interesting combinations of flavours. Even faced with my many dietary restrictions, they always come up with an interesting and delicious meal, even if it's not on the menu. Only downside is no gluten-free soy milk, so I haven't tried their coffee.
I had the sweet potato & haloumi fritter with poached eggs, asparagus, beetroot hummus and cherry tomatoes. One of the best brekky plates I've had! Asparagus was slightly overcooked but otherwise an outstanding dish. My partner had the eggs benny - delicious perfect poached eggs and hollandaise. Coffee is made with Di Bella beans and tasted decent. Baristas need to improve their latte art though, it's a must these days if you want to be a top brunch destination!
The only real downside was the long wait for our coffee and meals. But we would still return because the food was so good.
We usually go to Deedot, after waiting 15 minutes for any form of service, we gave up and thought we'd try The Rare Pear. To our surprise, we really enjoyed our brunch here! All the dishes were packed with rich flavours; despite the lack of latte art, the coffee was really good too (partner only ever has long mac)! What a little gem! We will be back.

Dropped into the Rare Pear on the weekend and boy were we in for an interesting morning! We had actually intended on going to the Jam Pantry down the road, but they were closed, so we drove back and dropped into The Rare Pear. It was extremely busy on the day and we were on time constraints. So initially we thought we were going to be in trouble.We ordered after about 10minutes waiting which wasn't a great start and our coffees came out a further ten minutes after that. Initially they gave us the wrong order, but we were happy to take it at the time. They apologized profusely, and everything was fine. The coffee, whilst lacked any decent attempt at coffee art, was actually pretty good. When our food finally arrived, we only had about 15 minutes to leave. So it came in the nick of time! They were clearly struggling, but to their credit, the food came out perfectly. The poached eggs were 10/10! I had the benedict, with the sauce lovely and creamy and bacon crispy with a decent flavour. The bread was really thick and crunchy on the outside, but soft inside. I couldn't really fault it. The Sweet Potato fritter pictured here was also amazing, and I'd even give it a go next time!
The food here is always consistently good with generous servings as well. But, the best thing for me is the coffee. There is no doubting that the barista is properly trained and always serves a great coffee. No attempt to serve up a 'bright' or 'new' flavour here; just beautiful coffee rich and unctuous with great crema and always a strong dark rich flavour. Pure coffee bliss.

We arrived at what appeared to be the end of a very busy period leaving the staff a bit stretched and unorganised. However, the Di Bella coffee (one of my faves) and the food were both top notch.
A refurb inside is long overdue but don't let that stop you sampling the beautiful dishes on offer here. The staff although stressed were friendly none the less.
The food here is amazing, every time I have been here never disappoints, service is great, will return for sure, just wish there was more parking
We had a lovely time at The Rare Pear. It was a bit chilly in the wind but this was made up for by delicious food and our friendly and outgoing waiter.
We were pleasantly surprised. My partner's burger was full of flavours and I loved my pork roll. My smoothie was on the average side but the coffee was very good. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals and will definitely be back!

This is yet another post that I was super lazy with starting. I've been here twice with large groups of people both times and yet I still haven't posted this review. I have no idea why other than sheer laziness as I quite enjoyed my meal here. It's very easily located off Logan road in the more or less direct centre of the shopping district for Holland Park, very close to it is Cafe Deedot. This place! They serve Di Bella coffee There always seems to be a new lunch and breakfast special every time I go here. This was the special the first day that I went. Their menu is also available online. So many bits W., ordered the green protein smoothie which consisted of spinach, berries, protein powder, banana, greek yoghurt, almond milk, chia seeds and cinnamon powder. He said it was pretty tasty. Very green Miss Chatterbox had a cappuccino and thought it was also pretty good. A soy latte for Z., Mug! This was my somewhat chewy drink of the apple berry chia smoothie, it was made with apple juice soaked chia seeds, mixed berries, fresh apple juice, banana and ice. I found myself frequently stopping to chew either the chia seeds or the raspberry seeds in the drink. I found the drink to be quite thick and have a pronounced banana flavour. Chewy H., picked up a mocha! Pretty One of my friend's daughters decided to get a babycino, hot foamed milk in a teacup with chocolate powder and sprinkles on top. We all thought this was a super cute touch. So cute We arrived just in time for lunch to start so half of us went with brekkie and half with lunch. I got the southern fried chicken burger which came with rocket and corn salsa. I found the buttermilk marinated chicken to be super crunchy but thought that the chicken flesh was a bit lacking, I wanted there to be a slightly bigger portion of chicken as the majority of it was crunchy coating and I frequently got a mouthful of fried chicken coating and bun. It looks lovely though Z., got the pulled pork breakfast burger which consisted
Smashed Avo with an asparagus twist. I had a work appointment that I arrived early for, so ducked into the Rare Pear for a morning coffee and a smashed avo (the usual). I was surprised by the asparagus, but overall it was a good breakfast! The mint and soft salty cheese really complimented the asparagus. Plenty of seasoning. Toast was good too. Generous and filling. Large flat white hit the mark also.

Sensational, no other word for it!. Have heard a lot about this place and when some vouchers on Livingsocial came up it was the perfect excuse to give it a try. SO glad I did! We both had the rare pear big breakfast, and it is NOT lying at all, really generous servings. Every single thing on the plate was cooked beautifully. I particularly loved the mushrooms, just those on toast and I'd be in heaven! The bacon, eggs, beans and toast were all cooked beautifully. Gorgeous tomato relish. The hollandaise was amazing as well. Really loved the sweet potato and haloumi fritter, cheesy, oozy and sweet. Was able to pick from heaps of fresh fruit for my fresh squeezed juice and chose pineapple and apple combo, which was just awesome! Frothy at the top and crystal clear at the bottom, really beautiful flavours. Topped off with HOT hot chocolate (can't stand cold drinks) I couldn't fault this place at all. A++ would be A+++ if they had better cutlery. Amazeballs, will be back! UPDATE 25/5/17. Had a lovely breakfast here with a friend on Anzac day, very busy but excellent service as usual, breakfast was excellent. In situations as busy as these you sometimes expect your poached egg to be overdone, but mine were still perfect. Take away peanut butter/choc chip cookies droolworthy as usual, though now half the size :( big sads, still, such excellent filling I can't say no. $4 for a cookie is getting up there, when they were big it was no worries, perhaps these smaller ones were just for today, I hope so.
We came on a Sunday at midday and the cafe was full but the service was still great. Food came out in a timely manner and it was delicious! The prices were between $17-$20 for breakfast which I think is great value for the size and quality. Highly recommended.
Wow, the food here is sensational! Not sure why it hasn't got a better rating. My roast vegies and chirizo salad was yummy and my bfs burger was one of the best burgers iv had. Would recommend the veggie breakfast, had previously and was so good!

Very confused by all the negative reviews!? For the last 6months my partner and I have gone to Rare Pear at LEAST once a month for Sunday breakfast, and despite them always being exceptionally busy, we're always seated very quickly, coffees within 10minutes and eating within 20-30minutes. My favourite is the sweet potato and haloumi fritter; it's in my top 3 favourite brisbane breakfasts. I don't like their coffee, purely because I don't find those beans nice. Also I think the baked eggs could do with improving - they're good, but lacking a bit of a kick. Their pancake specials are always absolutely divine, and I also like the fritters and eggs Benedict. I've ordered a few take-away sweets and cakes, and thought they were beautiful and fresh. This is one of my all time favourite breakfast spots; have never had a bad experience there :)

A great little spot in the middle of the 'burbs. I had trouble choosing from the delicious sounding and quite extensive menu. I went with a friend for lunch and had THE most tender calamari I've had in a long time. It came with the salad of the day, which had apple, watercress, carrot and a very nice vinaigrette. My friend had the salad of the day which seemed small for the price and didn't come with the crisps that were promised on the specials board.

Rare fare, enough to share!. Some of the other reviews had me worried, but my first time here was great! On a Tuesday around 10am, coffee and juice was served immediately and food arrived in 5 minutes flat. I had the veggo big breakfast and although it was delicious and I'd thought I was starving I couldn't finish it. Eggs were cooked exactly how I requested (I hate runny eggs but a lot of places can't seem to grasp this). OJ was freshly squeezed and a big glass, coffee beautifully presented in funky ceramic cups. Staff were cheerful, friendly, quick and attentive without being intrusive. All in all a great treat, I'll be back for sure!

Rare pear would have to be one of my favourites for brekky! Great service and tasty food sums it up! The kitchen is particularly accommodating if you feel like trying something a bit different and I would highly recommend trying the chefs breakfast specials as they don't disappoint! It gets popular here on weekends so best to arrive early if possible! :-)
Generally reliably good food. I often enjoy breakfast here and I can't finish it, it is usually a very decent serve of food and always delicious. I did recently go there once where I got about a quarter of the food I normally get for the same price - when I queried it I was told it was a different chef from another cafe while the normal one was back. I hope the other one is back next time I am there!
I will say though that they are always happy to be flexible with my dietary requirements when I have found that the local Coffee Club can be difficult with this - this is a huge help when trying to enjoy a nice Sunday morning brekkie.

Rules aplenty, but the foods ok .... Not quite as casual or quirky as the name implies; could really do with some couches to chill on with coffee (great) and house baked cakes, muffins and other sweet treats (yum).
We had lunch (because breakfast finishes at 11:30 on a weekday (what is that all about ..). There was too much cream in the seafood parapadelle and the open grill haloumi & roast veg toasty came with soggy bread and still cold haloumi.
Then there's the rules .. no split bills, only 1 credit card per table, sides are accompaniments only etc ... not quite what you expect when you're choosing to part with your hard-earned cash!
Great coffee and very tasty food. Didn't take any time to get a seat on a busy Saturday mid morning... But bring a newspaper. 20 minutes wait for coffee. 40 minutes for food with fresh OJ coming after meal and 3 requests. Something disconnected for a place that could be really great. Could learn how to offer great service from Elixir at Stafford.

Rare Pear - Holland Park, Brisbane. On the main street Logan Road, nestled comfortably in its own place the Rare Pear is well known to locals in the area. It may look like a hole-in-the-wall but the inside is bigger than one would think. In walking distance there are not that many dining options, so this one does stand out quite well and if you are willing to shell a bit more out than usual good food is guaranteed.
My time here was al fresco, and it is the better of the two options by far. With clean air, a friendly neighbourhood vibe and proximity to many facilities (e.g. a bus stop, the church etc) this exemplifies an open and convenient atmosphere for the diners.
The waiter I had was very friendly and helpful. He explained the dining terms very well and served the food and beverages very efficiently. At the end of the dining, with a freebie.
I was sort of shoehorned-in coming here, since the other two diners I was with were having a pre-ordered high-tea for two (although I did manage to eat some of that), therefore I had to make my own order. I ordered a sandcrab lasagne with a large bowl of beer-battered fries with aioli for sharing. To drink, I got a mars bar milkshake.
The sandcrab lasagne was divine - obviously homemade and well presented with a simple side salad. It was popular at the table and is absolutely recommended; a very good price as well.
As much as you can say about milkshakes, the mars bar milkshake was tasty and frothy.
The fries were thick and crispy, with enough softness in the middle. You can imagine they disappeared quite quickly. There was not enough aioli served with the fries, but the waitstaff were nice and got us some more.
Onto the high tea; it consisted of several finger sandwiches on the first level, a couple of rissoto balls and four quiches on the second level and a range of sweets with cream and jam (hint: one of the sweets were scones) on the third. From what I had;
The finger sandwiches were underwhelming - easily the weakest part of the meal. They were a standard ham & cheese with butter and beef & cheese both on white bread. Could take it or leave it.
The risotto balls were good, more roughly assembled than usual; the quiches were not so bad, but I had a hard time distinguishing what was in them.
Now for the best part of the meal, the range of sweets. The cranberry and caramel tarts are interesting and worth a try. A similar tart was also on there, having chocolate chips as opposed to cranberries - also good. The scones were made of buttermilk and went down very easily as scones should; the jam and cream complimented each other and the scone very well. The lemon surprise was not bad, but nothing quite to write home about. However, the best part of the entire meal (or perhaps just the high tea) was the brownies; to call them very chocolaty is an understatement, they are amongst of the best brownies I have ever tried.
After hearing about them a fair bit, I was glad to finally go to the Rare Pear. The menu is actually somewhat more inspired than most other Modern Australian restaurants. With a range of intriguing options to entice multiple returns. I can easily see why this place is popular. I am sure to return here in the future.

Delish. We tried Rare Pear on a whim and were delighted. Excellent quality food and coffee, with friendly and fast service. The food was top notch, and there was not too little and not too much. Can't complain at all about that!

Great service. Been here twice now for lunch. Ordered the chicken burger both times, although slightly over my budget it was quite tasty. Also ordered the berry frappe which was refreshing but tasted slightly watered down and plain compared to what I was expecting. I was very impressed with the great & friendly service both times I have been here. Generally, not the best place I've been to but good enough for me to return.
Delish Breakfast. We always visit here when in town and it never disappoints. My partner had big breaky - Bacon and poached eggs cooked to perfection (can be hard to find) and my breakfast special was awesome (mmmm haloumi for breakfast).... We will be back on our next visit.

Good local cafe. I like this place, the food is reliably good and the staff are nice enough. price for the portions is my only gripe as they are quite small. i'm pretty slim and after a decently priced brekky was still hungry.
Went here for a coffee, to read the paper, had my 5 year old with me. Just want to thank the lovely guy who managed to make my daughter smile and stop crying. Very nice coffee and my daughter enjoyed her hot chocolate and chips. My table was on a slope so had to watch that my coffee didn't slide off the saucer :) but otherwise very happy and will give them a try for lunch sometime.
I am very impressed with the new management at the rare pear. The new brekky and lunch menus are interesting and delicious, and the selection of cakes done on premises is delectable! They have done a fantastic job, and have new staff that are always friendly, happyand attentive. Good on them- 2 thumbs up
Loving it. Have been going there over the years, and i just seem to enjoy it more and more each time I go. Their cake selection recently has been revamped - I tried the sticky date pudding last week with ice cream, and for such a common and out-of-mode sweet treat, it was just DELICIOUS. Home made, butterscotch sauce ... and I'm still dreaming of it. coffee is great too, service also and vego brekky is the best I've had in brisbane.

Good Value. A well-patronised cafe in the 'burbs. We went there for breakfast; I ordered the 'Big Brekkie' and my wife the 'vege'. We found the service to be attentive and the wait-staff helpful. I counted nine staff working in the cafe - a significant number for such a relatively-small establishment. Both meals had good-sized servings with quality ingredients; I especially enjoyed the bacon. Prices were not cheap but reasonable given portion sizes. Will happily go back again.

Great little place for a lazy brunch on a sunny Saturday. Small but refined breakie/lunch menu.
What was special about the dish was the sweet potato and haloumi fritter, which to be honest didn't look great but packed a real punch. The outside was quite crispy and dark, but the sweet potato flavour blended with the haloumi to create a memorable meal.
It was cozy and warm. I looked at the display and I noticed combination of interesting food, like Risotto Cake with Beetroot (it was bright red). They also have cakes on display, like the super yummy looking Berry and Ricotta Cake. I was very tempted. My hot
We've visited the Rare Pear at Holland Park for breakfast several times now, but have not been for lunch up until today. Their breakfast menu is fantastic with more than the usual fare, offering things like breakfast bruschetta with tomatoes, asparagus and fetta, French brioche toast, and corn fritters with apple balsamic glaze and chilli jam. Heard about this place awhile again didn't realise where it was until I literally stumbled upon it while going to the post office next door. Great food and excellent service. Very accommodating to my little girl with kid size plate.
The Cafe is situated in a love spot over looking a busy road, the layout is small, perfect for meeting with a friend for a coffee.
The drinks are always hot or icy cold, depending what you ordered.
The staff are fantastic and remember most regulars.
And my photos would suggest that I always order the French Toast because it is absolutely delicious!
We both enjoyed the Veggie Big Brekkie which was a delightful plate filled with Polenta chips, Halloumi 2 Eggs (cooked any way), fritters, mushrooms and baby spinach with a side salsa. If there was a complaint it would be about serving coffee to a bloke in a pink mug - it was a little confusing because the other mug was blue - but not really a complaint. Thanks
Nice food and excellent service. Definitely worth a try. They also have some interesting things on their menu. We enjoyed our Sunday brunch.

Delicious tasty food with good service and very good prices. Parking is easy behind the restaurant. Coffee is smooth and they were able to accommodate us for breakfast even when we turned up close to closing time. Friendly staff who got the orders right. My mushroom breakfast was divine in the Truffle oil. Will certainly go back. Very handy only 5 minutes from home!
We showed up during peak morning and they were still very accommodating. We had a large group of us and they brought all our food out together. Food and coffee were both great and the prices were quite reasonable. Would highly recommend. I’ll be going again when next in the area.
