I love the 80% dark chocolate ice cream, it's my favorite flavor. It's rich and intense. It's the most successful dark chocolate flavor in Brisbane in my opinion, I wish it's slightly creamer and slightly less sugary

A well-lighted store dominated with white and red colour for the decoration. Came here on Sunday afternoon, the place was rather empty, thus the quick service.
The gelato tasted fresh, with wide variety of flavour, combined with the smooth and creamy texture. The size was also decent; the medium sized cup can cater 2 adults perfectly. For the size, the taste, and the texture of the gelato, it is nicely priced and worth it.
Would definitely come back to have more gelato!
Great gelato fresh tasty and varied weekly. A few outlets but Tenerife is quiet and relaxing. Love the cassata.
After our not so great experience with the West End store, it was refreshing to see that visiting the Teneriffe store was a better experience. Gelato consistency was closer to the ones back home and sweetness level just right. The only thing was again staff, service with a smile would have made the visit a 5/5!
I live on the other side of town and no hesitations when it comes to a 40 min drive to my fav gelateria. Was literally mind-blown when I had their hazelnut (can't remember what their italian name for it is..) flavour, was smooth, rich.. creamy... everything you've ever wanted and more !
This is the REAL place for REAL gelato in Brisbane! Knowing that the gelato is freshly made onsite is a plus!
Gelato: texture is super smooth and the tastes are great! You can expect the flavour by the names of the gelato.
Shop: this Teneriffe shop is always my favourite, with indoor seating (great for hot summer) and outdoor seating (great for big bunch of friends/family gathering).
The only point that needs improvement is the scoop-stacking skills of particular staff, but I believe training will solve this (last time I ordered a double scoop cone and the gelato was collapsing half way and I almost made a mess lol) other than that everything is perfect!
Cute place, flavors were good and not too sweet. Had the dark chocolate bar while the boy had a pistachio + hazelnut combo. Chocolate bar was way sweeter than the scooped ice creams so if you’re a fan of sugar and chocolate, that’s the one!
A popular gelato place mear the valley. Came here and tried some of the favourite flavours. All were really good the tiramisu was really good from what I recall.
That was a hot summer in mid 2000’s we were strolling around in Bergamo, 1 hour-drive from Milano. We kept walking enjoying the sunshine and admiring the fashionable locals on the street until we saw a looong line in front of a gelato joint. Without hesitation, we joined the queue. And my... it was obviously definitely the most delicious gelato I have ever tasted in my life. Fast forward 2016 when I was ‘stranded’ in Brisbane, I went to a few gelato joints in town before finding this gem. I have to say that La Macelleria gelato is the closest to the gelato I tasted in Italy. It’s soft and fresh and you can even still enjoy it in a cold winter night. My favourites are: pistacchio, cioccolato, tiramisù, coffee, cassata siciliana, malaga, bacio and caramello salato. And don’t forget to add a gelato filled cannoli to complete your treat!
I should fix my review for La Macelleria. I thought their gelato wasnt as good as the other stores. However, once I tried it more frequently, this one is actually much better. The sweetness, richness, and concistency prove their quality. My reccomendation is to try every flavour that they have 😁. Fave: choc sorbet, strawberry n cream
This gelateria is a strong contender for the best gelato in Brisbane.
People have been flocking to Messina lately - but La Macelleria, in my opinion, has the better product.
The flavours aren't over the top - the focus is just on good gelato. The result is creamy and delicious. It may not seem like a good option, but if you really want to taste how good their product is I recommend the Fior Di Latte. Very simple, but very good.
Went here for late night dessert on a Friday night and was pleasantly surprised to see La Macelleria Gelateria was the lone eatery in the vicinity that was opened, and bustling with people.
I had a small waffle cone with flavours - Bo & Bo (includes a rich hazelnut sauce poured into the waffle cone) and Crema Bologna (subtle flavours of lemon). The ice cream was beautifully creamy and well-made.
Friendly staff. Casual ambience - limited indoors and outdoors seating. Reasonable prices.
Overall, delicious creamy gelato - a lovely dessert spot in Teneriffe.
I'm italian and I can say that this is the best Gelato in Brisbane and also most of the italian gelaterie! These guys know how to make real authentic gelato from scratch. Bravi ragazzi
Living round the corner we've had many late evening trips, sometimes even skipping dessert at where we were already eating because we knew we wanted gelato and we wanted the best!
My favourite flavour is the silky Crema Bologna but I do try and mix it up occasionally and you're never disappointed in the flavour! We often eat while we walk home but the times we've sat outside there's never a struggle for seats, and it's perfect for people watching!
Went to try the highly popular gelato at La Macelleria Gelateria with the Tomcat family after grabbing pizza at Beccofino at Teneriffe. There was no better way to round off an Italian meal than with proper Italian Gelato, which was luckily only a couple hundred metres away. Arriving at about 7.30, it was reasonably busy, with quite a few seats having been taken, but most customers ordered takeaway and left anyway.
After the amazing Beccofino meal, we decided to grab some sweet treats to sum up the night. What better way to do this then a short walk to La Macelleria gelataria. The busy shopfront presents a playful interior with some educational information on the display wall. Their signboard menu consist mainly milk based gelatos and a small selection of sorbets.
Seriously just one word: Yum! Gelati is their forte and they do it well. Grab a delicious double cone and then walk along the Teneriffe boardwalk where you can learn about Brisbane WW2 history with the ships and subs that docked (and sank) nearby. Beautiful area especially the old warehouse renovated apartments.
This is an authentic Italian gelateria in Teneriffe. We tried the chocolate, nocciola (hazelnut) and caffe mandorla (coffee almond). The flavours were wonderful - they took us straight back to Italy. It's a little pricey but this is small batch artisanal gelato production at its best.

Some of the best gelato not just in Brisbane, but in the world. I don't live close by, but I'm a regular. They have a variety of interesting flavours and the classics do not disappoint.
Proper Italian-style gelato. My only criticism is that it's pretty pricey, but you tend to expect that for high quality gelato. Definitely worth a visit!
So, after a lovely afternoon bevvy at Bitter Suite, Johnk2154 and myself decide to try La Macelleria again.
Hubby had the Chocolate & Pistachio, while I tried the Tiramisu & the Crema Bologna.
All I can say is YUM YUM YUM.
Hubby like his Pistachio, but the chocolate was so rich and creamy.
My Tiramisu was yummy too, but the Crema Bologna was amazing with the lemon subtley coming through the rich custard cream.
I have definitely changed my mind, and it's definitely better than Gelato Messina & Gelateria Cremona in Rosalie.
Now on to Hamilton to try Milani House of Gelato!
The best gelato I've had in Brisbane, I'd probably go so far as to say the best I've had outside of Italy! The Fior di latte is amazing. I'm already trying to figure out when I can get back for this deliciousness.
Popped in after Mothers Day dinner- amazing!
Best ice cream and gelato I've ever had. No wonder the line was out the door!! Open late too- so many delicious varieties to choose from. Will definitely be back to sample more- cones, cups, gelato sandwiches 😱
On the way home from the airport I did a detour to La Macelleria. Not accidental bcos I've been yearning for gelato since I finished lunch today. At 3.30pm outside the gelateria there are a dozen happy campers tucking into their sweet treats.
Walking in, I am greeted by a happy gelato server and after a quick chat offers me a few gelato samples. Nice, all very nice. Then suddenly I remember Messrs. Meatballs and Kan Do's recent reviews and recommendations. Mr Meatballs recommends the Stracciatella ( Fior Di Latte with dark choc flakes) and Caramello Salato (Salted Caramel). And Mr Kan Do, the Nicciola (Hazelnut). I quickly order these 3 gelato flavours in a cup and without much ado I find a seat and start to enjoy the creamy goodness. Wow! They are all nice but the standout gelato today is the Hazelnut gelato with its strong fresh Hazelnut flavour. Thank you guys!
Gotta try the Bo & bo paired with any chocolate flavour. It's always a winner in our house. Great quality gelato. It's always busy on a Friday and Saturday night so be prepared to wait.

We happened upon La Macelleria Gelateria after a lovely dinner at Beccofino, and I am so happy we did...This may be the best gelato I've ever eaten!
I enjoyed the Fior di Latte and Caramello Salato - both were amazing - 4.5.
Lady Meatball had the Stracciatella (Fior di Latte with dark chocolate flakes) and was equally impressed. She admitted that this was better than any Stracciatella she experienced in Italy. This too rates 4.5.
We will definitely be back!
Now this is gelato!! Way too many places in Brisbane have high ratings without the gelato to match.
Love the texture and tastes of the gelato here. Highly recommend the nocciola (hazelnut) and the bacio (choc hazelnut). The pistachio is also quite good.
The coffee flavour was a bit more bitter, reminiscent of actual coffee so might be more appreciated by coffee drinkers.
We will be visiting this place a lot more in the near future.

Totally a great way to end the night! With some Vietnamese in my belly I still had room for dessert. This place was just a short walk on Florence St and worth the walk. It's also just around the corner from Dalgety Ale House. Great gelato options, I would recommend the large, the smaller sizes aren't enough if you want the full gelato experience. I had a salted caramel, hazelnuts and pistachio flavours (sorry I couldn't remember the Italian names). I have no doubt that all flavours have that cream gelato texture. Loved it!
The gelato here was delicious!!! We ordered pistachio, hazelnut cream with caramelised hazelnuts, bacio, caffe, white chocolate and chocolate. I must say, they do their nuts, chocolate and coffee flavours well. I wasn't a fan of the white chocolate, tiramisu or salted caramel. But that's just my own preference.
Best Gelato I've had across Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. Everything is made fresh on site, authentic italian flavours, creamy beautiful consistency and friendly staff. Highly recommended! We order it to the office using foodora as well!
Easily the best gelato in brissy. We went here after an Italian friend recommended the place and were not disappointed. I ordered the pistachio gelato which did not disappoint. Wish I lived closer to Tenerife and could eat here more often. It's open until 10pm at least on weekends and is a good place to grab something sweet after dinner in the area.
The owner/ server was friendly and let me try most of the flavor. The gelato was definitely best in town! My fav was the pistachio! Definitely coming back every time going to the area! =)
Fresh and great tasting gelato. I've been a few times and haven't been disappointed! Pistachio and caramel was delicious and I always want more. Portions are a good size!
The real taste of the Italian gelato! Se vi trovate a Brisbane e per un attimo sentite la nostalgia di casa, dovete passare assolutamente da qui! Il gelato della Macelleria e le sue torte sono un' estasi dei sensi! You must try it!
Amazing gelato. We tried the pistachio and the salted caramel. The flavours were fantastic and just right. The only thing missing was the lemon sorbet, which like pistachio is a classic and should always be on the menu.
This gelato place was busy on Friday night when we decided we wanted some ice cream. This place took me back to Italy! It's gelato is so creamy and smooth and the flavours are amazing! Best of all the prices aren't that expensive! We ordered the pistachio, tiramisu, salted caramel and hazelnut. I wish I had ordered a bigger serving! Service is quick and friendly. I noticed they also do other desserts and sell some savoury ingredients which I didn't really check out this time around as I was too engrossed in picking my flavours! Definitely a must try!
La Macelleria Gelateria has the creamiest, most delicious gelato that I've had in Brisbane; I would say even on par to Messina in Sydney/Melbourne/Coollongatta. I really like all of the gelatos that have hazelnut (although that may just be a personal preference for hazelnut), but I've enjoyed every gelato flavor I've tried here. Would recommend to all my friends (and have to some of them!)
Decided to check out what all the hype was about. The gelato menu really didn't do much for me but I tried the Fig which was tasty not amazing. The salted caramel was delicious and the mango was mouth wateringly good!

La macelleria Gelateria has the best gelato around! Salted caramel and macadamia & white chocolate is to die for! Mix and match flavours as you please.
Best gelato in Brisbane. Very authentic flavour combinations with a beautiful texture. All of the staff are Italian which adds to the authenticity. Perfect for a Brisbane summer's day....or any day really.
The gelato here is amazing! The best I have had anywhere in the world. When the owners were regularly in store the serving was always generous and the service fabulous however as they have expanded this has changed considerably. They have also introduced a surcharge for transactions made on card. The product is spot on and couldn't be improved however the experience could do with a little work.
Definitely the best gelato in Brisbane! This takes me right back to Italy. Recommend the hazelnut and pistachio. Oh did I mention they do workshops too to make gelato? Check out their website!
Transported back to Italy with this incredibly authentic and incredibly delicious gelato. The Cioccolato and the Fior di Latte flavours were stunning in their simplicity. So excited to visit again soon.
Probably my favourite gelato shop in Brisbane. Located in newstead, not far from the river, so it's ideal to grab a gelato and go for a walk while enjoying dessert. They have a few chairs outside the shop as well if you prefer to sit. They don't have a huge selection of flavours but the quality of the gelato is so good that it doesn't even matter. The taste is rich, creamy and full of flavour. My favourites are pistachio and salted caramel. It's not quite Messina, but it's definitely delicious and well worth a visit.
So authentic and beautiful flavours! I love how there are Italians milling around and the employees are all Italian too. Takes me right back to Italy. I had the beautiful choc chip and then a honey macadamia too - equally good.
U know is good when u see real Italians is around. And I personally love the chocolate flavour, cause is not too sweet is that dark chocolate flavour perfect for a winter night. :) and they sell coffee too
The gelato is some of the best I have ever had - get the bo and bo which is marscapone with a melted hazelnut chocolate sauce which is divine! They lose points however for the rude Italian staff - get a hold of yourselves , you sell ice cream you're not saving lives!
Most tantalising Italian ice cream I have eaten. Interesting, decadent flavours. Heavenly whipped cream. Friendly and generous staff. Open till late every day. Naturally we have been back many times :D
I wanted to try EVERYTHING, but get the pistachio gelato! Full of flavour, silky smooth.
Love the flavour selections, I imagine they would be just like that if I was in a gelateria in Italy.
Tastes exactly like the many scoops of gelato we had in Italy! Been here a few times now and we always get the tiramisu and dark chocolate. It's proper dark chocolate and you can taste the yummy bitterness. We're boring like that but why ruin a good thing? :)
Gelato perfection. I used to drive to Rosalie for amazing gelato, but since my first visit to La Macelleria, I haven't looked back. The flavours are traditional and executed to perfection. The gelato is amazingly creamy and the granitas/sorbets are clean and flavourful. An indulgent treat on a hot summer's day, or to be honest, on any day!
If you want to impress a special someone take them here for a treat!
Nice although pricey. The gelatos are stored in stainless tubes so you can't really see what you are ordering before hand. They have a fancy pretentious menu but it is lost on kids. Enjoyed the mango sorbet. The gelatos are very rich and intense (More targeted for adults if that makes sense)
Absolutely amazing gelato!. ...And it IS gelato, not ice cream. It was so smooth and light, totally delicious. It's a nice quiet location, easy to park but there aren't many seats outside if you want to stop and sit/relax. However, my partner got the lemon and I got stracciatella and hazelnut. We enjoyed every flavour. I just wish I lived in Brisbane so that I could go here all the time.
I had to sit down when I tried their salted caramel. FLOORED. Amazingly smooth, incredible flavour. They need more seats for people to swoon.
Simply the most authentic and best gelato I have ever eaten
Real Italian Gelato. Just perfect. The best in Brisbane.
This place is a MUST!!!! Brought me back to Rome with every delectable lick!
Yum! Perfect texture and flavour. This is ACTUAL gelato, wow. Italian dudes making proper Italian iced treats perfectly. It's creamy, perfectly smooth and absolutely delicious. So far favourites are the pistachio, salted caramel, bacio (!), any other hazelnut related ones and the mandorlina.
Get some soon, so much better than the other stuff around
The real thing.. The best gelato around, hands down. Made fresh, and really flavourful, this place is worth hunting down.
Pistachio, bacio, caffe, and mandorlino are star flavours, I think.
Tried this Gelateria today and it was delicious! Lots of flavours to choose from (if u are unsure u can ask for a taste test). I had the strawberry sorbet but also tried the pastacchio and chocolate. Will definitely be back.
I did think the gelato started tasting a tad too sweet about half way through. That might be a lesson to not order an extravagant amount next time. Otherwise, the flavours were good, service was speedy and friendly and the texture was authentic enough to bring us memories of our indulgent gelato-filled Italian holiday.
This is a must visit when you are in this part of town. You will get quite possibly the best and most authentic gelato in Brisbane.
The gelato is super fresh with the most amazing flavours. I felt bad as I was very indecisive as this was my first visit but the attendant was patient and super helpful talking about the different flavours and offered me taste tests. I ended up getting probably two of their staple flavours - Fior Di Latte and Bacio which had whole (not chopped or “flavouring”)hazelnuts in the gelato which was a welcome surprise.
I found the pricing to be very reasonable, especially for the quality. $8.50 for the large cup which you could have up to 3 flavours, and at first you might think that the sizes are on the smaller side, they are deceptively big and the large would be more than enough for even the biggest sweet tooth.
Overall this was a great experience with the quality food and service but also the shop itself is welcoming, and I love that you can see into the kitchen and watch the making process.
One of the best authentic gelato shops I’ve visited in Brisbane!
From first arrival, the one staff that was on was super friendly and didn’t mind our indecisiveness. I was a bit thrown off that all the ice cream is covered, so it’s a bit harder to visually see what you want. For even the smallest size, you can choose 2 flavours- I thought it was great to get to taste more than one.
For what you get, it is a bit more on the pricey side- and the sizes are a bit deceiving (cup is smaller than outside length). However, I can’t complain because the taste and service was too good. I feel a sense of family and teamwork at this shop, and it makes me too feel welcomed! Hope to be back soon!
Great real gelato.
All the flavours are amazing, we tried the vanilla, hazelnut, chocolate and macadamia, all of them perfect.
You can tell it is made with fresh real ingredients.
Prize is good too. If you are looking for a real gelato, only need a little bit to satisfy you.
Absolutely superb gelati. Bellissimo. Great treat after a show at the Powerhouse. Friendly staff who replaced my ice cream free of charge when I dropped it as I walked out having not managed even a bite. Definitely going back. Have recommended to my friends.
Nice selection of Gelato. Friendly helpful staff!
The shop has very efficient service. It also has two options for seating - inside and outside. The gelato is made locally. However there isn't a big variety of flavours. There are also only 3 sorbetti flavours which are vegan. The prices also vary by cup size (small to maxi) rather than by number of scoops.
Pretty good but not the best gelato in Brisbane. Tiramisu flavour was awesome. The rest two things, strawberry&chocolate, were not my cup of tea.
