Review Buzz Emporium - Brisbane

Jenny McCubbin
I have revisited after many years. Not a clean table in site. When I was asked where I would like to sit and I replied, you don’t have any clean tables, the polite young lady told me she could clean one. The cafe is extremely quiet so tables should be cleared and cleaned. I saw one older gentleman clear his own!! Coffee nice, muffin ‘old’! No atmosphere or enthusiasm to be seen. ( the table in the image has been like that for a very long time. Not a lovely entrance)

The place is ideally located, parking was easy, staff very friendly. However, I was disappointed in the food. I ordered a ‘grilled’ chicken burger, cuz ‘grilled’ imply a relatively healthy treat. When I burger arrived, I was disappointed to find the chicken was prepared with lots of oil and a thick batter, while the bun was socked in butter! Come on…grilled implies healthy eating! 😏

I went here for quick breakfast before go to camping but it took for ages to get all food. I think more than 30mins even though they are not busy. Food quality wasn’t too bad. Coffee is so so🙃

The 4 young at heart gentleman mentioned in a previous review are true characters and nice blokes. They are the Essence of what has made Australia what it is today. I hope this can be carried on to the younger generation. Great service Great food Great owners

been a few comments about waiting for takeaway food on a public holiday or being a mess with uncleared tables. Bizz Bistro is NOT a fast food joint. Buzz cooks on order an on public holidays it has been busier than expected. The place is still great, great friendly service, great food and fresh.

No coughing allowed 😂 So basically if you cough for any reason like dust or having lung damage they will throw you out. Get a grip, guys.

Lack Lustre. The beautiful tables and position not utilised. The person taking my order answered the phone while I was mid sentence. The juice was expensive but had all that undrinkable pulp on the top. I could only drink half. They also didn’t tell me they were closing, only 15 minutes into eating - they closed the doors and shut me inside. Cmon, just ask me to finish up. Brownie was ok and the juice tasted nice, besides the pulp. Really nice place, I just wish I had a better experience

Fantastic location. Easy to get to. Free parking. Ample space both in and outside. Food is great and the portions are generous. Fruit toast is brilliant. Highly recommend.

As regular customers of buzz, we were throughly disappointed in the breakfast foods served this morning. After waiting over half an hour the 2x breakfast bacon and egg rolls were cold with eggs and bacon cold and soggy bun, the bacon looked almost raw and very thick. Eggs Benedict the poached eggs were hard as a rock with the tiniest piece of toast over cooked on the side with eggs tasting like vinegar. Staff were friendly and lovely and assisted us with our food, but it’s just not the same buzz we know and love. I could have made a better breakfast myself at home without all the hassle. Won’t be back to emporium.

Great food. Great coffee. Awesome staff. Egg n bacon rolls are Epic!

Great service and great food. Staff are always friendly

Ordered Buzz for breakfast using Uber Eats. We ordered the Eggs Benedict and the omelet. Was awesome, eggs where still soft when they arrived. Will order from then again!

Ok, so I'm nearly nine weeks overseas without a Buzz breakfast and the best coffee. I'm only just going to make it!!!!
Riccardo Betti
It's always a pleasure coming into Buzz, friendly staff and amazing service.

Love ALL the. Buzz Bistros...always great service, friendly staff and delicious food.

Awesome place for a great Breaky, fantastic lunch and a cool atmosphere. Great team.

Best breakfast in Brisbane!

Dropped in the Emporium for brekkie yesterday morning and there were only two cafes opened for trade due to early 7:00am.
I walked in this one and found the I was the first customer of the day.
Service is very passionate and I placed a flat white with my default brekkie of poached eggs with smoked salmon but no toasts.
Coffee came first with Di Bella brew, which matched my palate with the right strength.
It took a while to have my savory dish in the table. Presentation seemed odd but surprisingly there were three poached eggs. Those eggs were poached not too bad but the smoked salmon was too salty😥Wish the chef pay attention to that🙏
Rating: 3.5/5
I like the vibe, and style, something different than traditional Aussie style, maybe because this is American style! :-) Cappuccino tastes great and they have also a lot of healthy smoothies. Food is a bit pricey but nice. They have wifi which is great especially for bloggers or business people!

Came here for lunch. Service was fast.

I ordered the breakfast board which is just your typical breakfast foods - tomatoes, avocado, haloumi, rocket and sourdough bread. Not sure what was going on with the bread. It was toasted but sooooo oily, I prefer fresh bread as this tasted to fatty and not healthy at all.

Berry smoothie was absolutely amazing, will come back just for that.

Went late on a Saturday around closing time but got good food nonetheless. I am a big fan of the interior here. This place a nice vibe, that one will look for in a bistro! Attracts the perfect crowd. Sad thing is they close too soon. They served me a good chicken sandwich I had. Looked tiny but I fed me quite aptly. My husband enjoyed the breakfast meal he ordered. Cutesy interiors with lots of light and brightness.

Very nice service, the waitresses are very kind and warm, and professional. The food and coffee are pretty good, just the price is a bit high which is expected in this area.
Sweetlikesugar
Ordered the baked eggs. They were completely over cooked and dry - absolutely nailed. The service was nice and my English breakfast tea was good. So that's what my 1.5 rating is for. The menu read well but did not deliver at all.
Lisa Rich
I went there today for lunch. The menu was very lack lustre. I ended up going with a chicken sandwich which cost an arm and a leg for just white bread, chicken and mayo. The coffee was acceptable. There are so many better places around Newstead and new farm you can go to without having to fight for a park.

We have tried Buzz at Gasworks but thought we would give this one a go this morning. First up coffee was good- one of those cups which leave that lingering mouthfeel on the tongue. Was Di Bella blend & made well. Breakfast although quite simple, was packing in the fresh flavors. Simple avocado, which came in a chick shaped fan style with rich sweet tomato slices & that gorgeous fetta, just yum. Partner enjoyed his mince dish too which he said had plenty of flavor going on. Basic food done well with fresh ingredients nice job
Samie
Convenient spot for a great coffee. Maybe it's just me but when I'm in a premium spot, I prefer table service. Or at least a friendlier service. Good coffee and cakes tho.
Amy
Buzz is very close to where I live so I go often and am never disappointed. I've had the muesli and omelettes. The eggs are delicious and the avocado salsa is very fresh and full of fresh lime taste. The flavour is always great and the portion sizes are very filling (unless you order from the 'lighter meals' then be prepared for a small portion) the coffee is also great at Buzz.
Jeff Varner
A pretty solid feed. Was here recently and the food is filling and nice, good atmosphere and staff are really nice. I wouldn't rave about the food, but I wouldn't complain about it either. Solid effort.
Nutty
Slow service and long line to order. But nice vibe and good food. Very good location in the emporium and on a weekend this place will be packed so keep that in mind.
Walter James White
A pretty good breakfast. Always enjoy going here for breakfast at least one every week or two. Staff are friendly and food is lovely! Nothing amazes me but nothing to every complain about.
Jessica
Pleasant food and staff. Can be expensive. However the scrambled eggs came in a mountain serve so that was good value for money. But I dont fancy spending $7 on a milk shake. But maybe im out of touch and thats the cost of them everywhere nowadays.
Simply Starving
Really average cafe. I ordered the roast beetroot and feta salad for $18 and was completely disappointed - it's literally all you get, apart from way too much onion, 2 mini tomatoes and a cup of dressing. The quality was below average and the dish was not fresh - considering it was such a basic salad they should focus on this. The options on the menu need to be improved or expanded as I was not that enticed by anything. Staff were friendly but I would not go back.
AnitaOnChi
Not bad. But not amazing. Breakfast here will mainly set you back just under $20 (bigger meals, you can choose banana bread or yoghurt etc for around $10ish). Service here is also just meh. But I guess they're just a cafe... Overall quite average. Would probably only go back for convenience as its right down the road from my house!
Leanne Schmidt
Great service! Friendly team members and excellent service!! The food was fantastic. Thanks a lot guys!

Excellent Breakfast. I personally think the portions are on the larger size and quite well priced considering all food is fresh and sourced locally as much as possible. Lovely owners and really accommodating kitchen staff, I am pretty sure the awful counter lady everyone mentions has since "resigned," as I haven't seen her in awhile. Love that the new menu is incorporating a few more vego options.
Emporium is the original Buzz & the best! Favourite place to have breakfast for sure!

Drove around a bit before I found out it is in gasworks, Skyring Tce
The pizza is amazing
The tiramisu is a must try
Emme
Nup. First went for a coffee which was very good. Decided to return for lunch the second visit. Really disappointed. Food was very bland. The corn stacks were tasteless. Have had the corn stacks at a different Buzz and they were great.

But the stand out was the service. Atrocious. Rude waitress. Did everything she could to avoid eye contact. They don't watch to make sure patrons are ok. They chat amongst themselves and avoid the the table areas.

Will try Buzz at Teneriffe in future. Just two minutes down the road and packed with customers.
Foodieinheels
Great brekky joint. We've been going to Buzz for a while now and the service is always noticeably better when the owner is working. Absolutely love the pancakes and eggs Benedict. Smoothies can be hit and miss but generally they are great. Favourites are banana and the berry one (but ask for the dairy version - they've changed it and the new version isn't as good). Love the bacon, it's always crispy as it should be!
Jimmylesanto
Assault by service.. Counter service, what service?? Why would you go there, but still people are sheep, as long you can show your new car or display your new girlfriend it doesn't matter that food is horrible and arrogant, rude and ignorant service, I guess it Brisbane people do not now for better. Thanks but no thanks once was enough.
Sean Dawson
Waited 30 minutes for my pulled pork roll. Arrived with droopy, soggy slaw and pork with the consistency of tinned tuna, and flavor not far from that. Friend had the 'olive' pizza with about 5-6 olives on the whole thing, and a stodgy, floppy base. On the upside, my other friends dips and turkish bread wasn't too bad, though the spinach dip tasted like nothing. Maybe we were just unlucky, but first impressions last and we had a pretty bad first impression.
Amst
Buzz has amazing food however the waitress at the till is so rude and impatient every time I go to buzz. It's very off putting.
Lindsey
Not great. Coffee is hit and miss (if you order takeaway there is always a huge wait) and customer service is almost non-existent. There people serving behind the register are almost consistently rude and it's like they don't want to be there.

Breakfast (toast with avocado) was fine. Better off walking a few minutes to James Street to get a better breakfast and coffee for the same price.
Speed Merchant
Burnt yet cold food....enjoy!
Relrelrel
Mannerisms of staff something to be desired.... I work nearby and have been here twice, I will not go back here again unless its for the chicken, mayo and avocado sub which is really good & I will be taking away.

I came here once for sit down lunch with my mother & I was shocked at the rudeness of the lady at the counter who served us. I work in customer service so I at times understand everything can get a bit boring and repetitive but seriously I think its about time she moved onto another job. She was highly patronizing and abrupt and I think if this place wants to pick up she should learn some customer service.
Clare
Buzz is ok, but just ok. The food is hit and miss. The service leaves a lot to be desired, slow and I have seen loads of bad attitude directed at myself and other customers. One thing that could make Buzz run more smoothly would be if they addressed their issue with table numbers-give customers a number rather than ask where they are sitting, or offer table service. I try not to go here as there are plenty of better places nearby but occasionally find myself here purely out of convenience. It certainly has potential to improve
Pwg
Really good breakfast and more than decent coffee, but it would want to be at $35 for a basic breakfast with coffee and a juice.
Bella
Good and bad. I've had eggs benedict here a few times and they can actually do it! (It seems most places can do it pretty well or pretty badly)

The big downside for this place is having issues when it is busy. Please buy some numbers for people to take to their table as staff have trouble putting the numbers in or when diners are alone, the table goes before they get there...
Leyla Kassim
Up from Sydney decided to visit buzz. Am absolutely horrified at the managers revolting customer service or lack of! We calmly questioned an abrupt order from the manager while simply ordering food and were told in no uncertain terms to deal with it or leave. Whoever the owner is he/she needs to sack this bitter so called manager pronto!!!! Disgraceful service
Dee
My girlfriend was up from Sydney and made me go there. The staff are just intolerable.. Plonking the food down and giving a feeling that I am being done a favour for spending money on over priced average food and coffee.i begged her not to go there and now she knows why. Manager seems to firmly believe its her right to speak to people as she pleases. Wrong in every way.
Fedup
Food good. Service quick and friendly. Restaurant quiet! No loud music! Clean and comfortable. We will be back.
Chris
Big servings, good service quilitly is ok .,
Ellasyn
If you're in a hurry, forget it.. Long wait for food- after sitting around for 20 mins, waitress explained it would be another '5 minutes'.... 15 minutes later. I don't know how the food tasted as I never got it. I think it would be handy to give people realistic timelimes, especially as I had asked when I ordered how long the meals would be. I think this place is suited to uni students and blog writers who have no deadlines. If you're on a lunch break, don't bother.
Food Glorious Food
Consistent coffee. Always end up going there for coffee. Maybe it's routine?
Coffee is always good, the food seems a little touch and go, wouldn't crave for breakfast here. Can't say anything abt the other meals because I haven't tried it before
Food Lover
Great venue- very busy, great vibe and Owner is very friendly and accomdating. We had 7 people and staff did a great job in getting us a table promptly. Big breakfast servings, great coffee and lovely staff. We will be back next weekend. What a buzzing place!!!
MMB
I had the pork sandwich with crackling that was so hard it was inedible. Side of rocket was a little sad.
Grm
Can't say I'm too impressed. Buzz genuinely is always buzzing. But The food is average. The staff are average too and every time I have visited buzz I have been uncomfortable with staff hovering and openly talking about us leaving. I understand the need for a quick turnover on a weekend morning but this is too quick. No one likes to feel uncomfortable eating, especially when you are paying!
Amanda84
Excellent breakfast destination. Great selection of food & good quality coffee. Haloumi is delicious! Service is noticeably better when the owner is working, it is good to see he takes the time to speak with customers & clear tables.

Fancy. Buzz has a reputation at being the best at breakfast. Their food cannot be denied as it is high quality and cooked well, but it is also pricey for what i consider to be an average portion - but hey if your not a fatty all the better!

I recommended the Eggs Benedict and strongly recommended the French Cheesecake - it was the best cheesecake i have ever had =)
NatNCol
Still Buzzin!!. Revisited BUZZ a few months ago during another trip to Brissy and once again loved our Buzz breakky. Huge servings..... once again I couldn't finish mine. The owner of the cafe came over to our table and introduced himself...... very nice man. He was eager to hear where we were from and what we thought of his cafe. We had a lovely chat and a great breakfast with fresh BUZZ juice. Thanks Buzz crew. Always a pleasure.

Great big meals but not sure it's anything to write home about. The ricotta and blueberry hot cakes were sweet and a little sickly and the eggs Benedict had beautifully done eggs but burnt bread. Coffee was great. Overall hit and miss, but more hit if you prefer quantity over quality.
Aussieworld
Overpriced and average service. Had the Eggs Benedict, very small for the price and the waitress just plonked the food on the table. No nicities or anything special here. Do your self a favour and go to Eves on the River.

Best Breakfast in Brisbane. I love Buzz bistro and will continue to visit as often as possible. The menu is very extensive with options to suit all taste, my favorite however is the french toast, which is absolutely AMAZING. Great coffee and quick and lovely service. Buzz is by far the best place for breakfast in Brisbane!
Willstar
Poor service - disorganized seating and the worst servers in Brisbane... Orders were mixed up, meals for 8 came staggered so that we didn't actually eat together...waiter arrogant and incompetent. Never, ever again!
Alexander Edward
Its amazing how places in a great location still do well because of that very fact. Beautiful food and poor service in a top location. This place would absolutely kill it if it was table service... Unfortunately, you would need to train the staff to smile and welcome customers.
Miss M
Best coffee!. Buzz has always been a favourite. The coffee is one of Brisbane's best and there is always something on the menu to satisfy any craving. The selection of cakes and pastries are also exceptional. The staff are always prompt and polite which puts Buzz top of mind when deciding on a cafe to dine at. My only complaint is that I may have to wait for a table on the weekend, but I guess that is purely a reflection of how good the place is... It is certainly worth the wait.
Helen Harvey
Fantastic,. We live in the country and come most weekends to Brisbane. One of the things I really look forward to is eating breakfast at Buzz. The menu is very extensive with interesting choices eg kidneys, lambs fry and home made beans. The food is consistently very good, the staff attentive and the service superb. The owner always goes out of his way to welcome you and ensure your experience is excellent. Well done buzz!
Courtney
Buzz me. I love going to Buzz for breakfast. They have such an extensive menu that caters for everyone. The food is always amazing and the staff are friendly. I've been going to Buzz since it opened and I have never had any problems with the service or food. If you haven't been to Buzz, then you are missing out on the best breakfast in Brisbane.
J.L
Great. I have not a bad word to say about Buzz. Great, fresh, generous food, lovely service and nice atmosphere. Especially good breakfasts, love the bubble and squeak! It is also always packed, surely a testament to its popularity!
AT
Buzz - great place. Wow, you guys seem to be experiencing the "Agave" curse where a lot of people who normally only have one review to their name on Urbanspoon decide to criticise you. I have always found your coffee, food and service exemplary.
Mary D
BUZZ is the perfect name. I never get tired of going to BUZZ. It is clean and bright, with the best quality china, a really interesting menu, generous portions of food, and it really does have a buzz about it. The staff are courteous and the owner is often there, making sure everyone is being looked after and happy. I often see friends there particularly on Saturday morning when the atmosphere is one of relaxation, convivial conversation and excellent food. I eat out all the time, here in Brisbane and overseas, and can highly recommend BUZZ. Try it - you won't be disappointed. Buzz is world class.
Nick Smart
The Buzz breakfast is one if the best in Brisbane and has been consistently this way since I have been going regularly. As a business owner who is the service industry I really appreciate the quality of both the food and staff. The best compliment I can say is that my very sick fussy father is prepared to drive from the gold coast to Brisbane to meet for a weekend breakfast without complaining - then Buzz must be doing something right. The owner is a great guy who my friends and I look forward to seeing each time we visit. We enjoy the family style aspect to Buzz and are very big fans. Thanks Buzz . FYI I love the ricotta hot cakes more than Bills of Sydney (and they are great ! ) cheers
Susannah George
Unlike "ConcernedCustomer", I love Buzz!. I'm surprised by ConcernedCustomer's review of Buzz as I've never had anything but positive experiences here. The staff have always been extremely friendly and helpful, the menu has been consistently fresh and flavourful, and all orders arrive quickly, which is a challenge given how busy the place always is.

If the review from Concerned Customer is legitimate, I apologise in advance, but I am somewhat dubious given the photo they uploaded. The photo that accompanies their review is quite obviously not taken at Buzz - it's a picture of tomatoes from a completely different establishment (perhaps even home?).

In the interests of full disclosure, I do know the owners of this cafe. However, I eat out often, could choose to frequent any of the businesses in my neighbourhood, yet I'm back at Buzz week after week enjoying friendly service and clean, fresh food.
Gracedkelly
Happy Buzzer. I absolutely love Buzz; it is my very favourite place for breakfast. The food is always fresh - how could it not be; the owner is a fruit/vegie wholesaler and he is the fussiest guy I know in Brisbane when it comes to fresh food.

The food portions are really generous. Normally I cannot finish everything on my plate.

I will always return to Buzz because I love the friendly service (the staff are efficient and always have a smile) and I always know I will enjoy my meal. So many cafes are inconsistent with meal quality.

I also like to sit outside at Buzz with my girlfriends and share a good coffee, eat their wonderful gluten-free orange cake (yum!) and check out who's who in the zoo.
Gertrude Bliss
Great food and service with a touch of basil faulty about the owner
Anne Dangerfield
A buzzing breakfast. I have had breakfast at Buzz many times, mostly with friends and family from out of town and they have been wow'ed! Usually I go for the eggs benedict and it is always good, however the food that comes out of that kitchen looks superior to most cafes around. A great place to eat and have a coffee on a weekend morning!
Donk
Great breakfasts. Had eggs benedict and my wife had the French toast, 100% awesome. Friendly staff and quick service. On the pricey side but that is reflected in the food
David
Some of the most incompetent staff and the most overpriced mundane food can be found here. Give it a huge miss
Mr Pppig
Been back many times. Pros: consistent food of high quality and portion. Very good coffee. Cons: Have to get own table and line up to order. But waiter always curtious. Conclusion: will go back but people who expect waiters to serve them on their knees should consider moving to countries where slavery is still legal.
Langfordneil
Went in for coffee today with my eleven month old daughter, ask one of service staff for a baby chair, the guy returned with the chair with no restraining belt, ask for another chair, the second chair chair came which only had one part of the restraining belt, i pointed this out to the service guy and his comment was "THEY ARE ALL PRETTY DODGY, BUT SHE SHOULD BE OK IN THE CHAIR", i couldn't believe this response.what an absolute joke.
Jason Bradley
If you are after a boring cafe, with ok service, a limited menu and don't mind waiting for your coffee then buzz is for you.
Neil
Only have had the lunch here twice and both times it has been fantastic, marginally overpriced bur excellent food.
Hungrysuits
Fantastic breakfast & staff. We eat here reguarly and have never had a bad meal. it is our fave breakfast spot without a doubt. the staff are always very friendly and go above and beyond the level of service you receive elsewhere. amazing pancakes too!
David S
While the food has been great in the past, sadly the same cannot be said for the service. We waited for ten minutes to get a table but not once were we acknowledged. We had to find out own. Then another twenty passed before we went to find our own menus. Sadly the manager's attitude was that we should have come to the counter and asked. Rule one - the customer is always right. We won't be a customer here again. Thought we were still recovering from a GFC - obviously Buzz is immune.
Jazc
Very generous portions - really could surprise people, a good variety of dishes, vibrant atmosphere, and good service. A welcome addition to emporium, which could feel rather tiring sometimes
Auswade
The menu has a great range and the homemade drinks are sensational the staff are very nice too.
Marcus Foth
Scrambled eggs, health blast juice, flat white, Saturday morning breakfast all set. Buzz bliss. Arrive before 8.30 and perve on the hot cyclists ;-)

Buzz Bistro is reminiscent of your local cafe with higher than average cafe prices. The prices don't hurt too much though when you are being fed delicious and fresh food. Buzz serves up simple food, cooked well. Our favourites include their Tickled Pink Juice, which is refreshing and delicious, their seasonal seafood risotto, which is light and tasty compared to many of its heavier, cream-filled counterparts, and the pork belly sandwich, featuring soft and tender pork meat dressed with apple sauce, gravy and a side of delicious pork crackling. Buzz is a good cafe which we like to frequent when the bank account allows it.
