The Scratch was the most authentic craft beer experience we've found so far in BrisVegas. Loved the decore, atmosphere, board games and peanuts. The bar staff genuinely share love of their beer, and listen well to customers before nailing tastings.
Hands down the best bar in town. Super chilled vibe and dog friendly :)
Fantastic little haunt! Love how they have a real 'mates place' vibe going here. Puppies welcome, complimentary peanuts, board games, cards & generous staff make it a place I'll happily don my boots for and visit regularly. Keep up the goodness!!!
Great staff and great beer! They're always happy to let you try what you want, and you can sit outside and people-watch the busy Park Road or inside in the aircon and admire the art on the walls, which changes frequently. 11/10 would bang :D

Always have an amazing selection of beer. Have been here lots of times. The only negative is a few of the staff are arrogant and seem uninterested. Seems to be an effort to do their job sometimes. A shame as everything else is great
One of those good bars, I would love to visit again and again !Great little place in Milton Brisbane for beer. Good range of beers, super amicable people and pure joy just being there. Most bar of its size wont do as good because of sheer small size of their location, but Scratch come out as amongst the bar to hang out at - has a great night time life! I have been to this place during late noon/ early evening time too, just to have a beer and work on laptop - and the aura was just fine for that as well.Love this place.
The scratch bar is probably one of the first places I visited in Milton, although I've been here basically at least once a month over the past years I just realized I had yet to review it!
With an amazing beer list, free peanuts, boardgames to play as you wish and a Vegan cheese platter it's easily one of the best places for a drink in my opinion.
Service is always friendly and the bartenders are quick to find you a drink even when you are not sure about what you would like to drink.
Overall would recommend it to anyway looking for a nice place for a drink.

Great little spot. Wide range of beers, ciders, whiskeys you name it theyve got it in some fancy way shape or form!
Service was polite and very helpful. I enjoyed how the staff really tried to get to know my taste buds by giving me multiple taste tests to find the right drink for me.
I didnt order any food from here but the cheese platter that I saw others eating looked delicious! Instead, I took full advantage of their byo food policy and ordered at the pizzeria just a few shops up the road. Washed this down with a few pints of beer which were of great quality and taste. My friend was drinking the house whiskey and dry of which we both agreed was incredibly smooth.
We were about the leave when we noticed the board games stacked in the corner. So, as full grown adults, we played board games like little kids for a few hours, giggling and laughing.
We both enjoyed the unique, groovy, retro atmosphere, with special liking to the 50s/60s hits that were playing!
The only thing that I could fault about this place was the lack of proper weather protection for those seated outside. This only caused an issue for me because everyone was forced to cram inside the very small bar and it became a little claustrophobic.
Despite this, I will definitely be making my way back to the scratch bar sometime soon to soak my tastebuds, sit back in the lounges and listen to some old classic tunes.

A favourite place to visit. The staff are fantastic and the beer selection always changes. The atmosphere is laid back and comfortable, perfect for a catch up with friends. BYO food is great, there's a heap of places nearby that will deliver or bring your own.
Nice drinks, friendly staff, an array of board games, delicious cheese and decent music. Perfect for a relaxed drink with plenty of seating both inside and out.
I truly love this place. Great beer, staff and fit out make for a great vibe. Love the beer fests, weekend of tartness is always a favourite... Sour beer heaven! It's also massively cool that they will do vego not dogs for the same price. Love it, love it! The only thing that's annoying is, it's so popular seating can be hard to find and you feel like a dick standing in the walkways... But it doesn't happen that much

You can bring your own food, or sometimes they have tasty things cooked up behind the bar - always with sensational vegan options too.
Beer-u-ti-ful!. I went there with a group of friends one Saturday night. The girl behind the bar was amazing with her service. She offered us the chance to taste the selection of beers and ciders on tap to help us decide. As we tried the small but refined selection she told us where they came from (this weeks was from local breweries around Brisbane) and their particular taste. For me, this was a great way to make you feel welcome by spending time with your customers and engaging them in your product.
As its BYO Food, we ordered pizza from next door and brought in our own boardgames to play. Great evening had by all!
It was nice to venture away from the usual West End/CBD/Valley area and find a bar that offers more than you think.
Great place for a boutique beer or scotch - a completely retro fit out with committed and friendly bar staff.
Don't expect quick service: you'll wait for your drink while those before you get to sample or discuss their tipple - and so will you! Patience will really pay off!

Excellent spot for a few beers and a cheese platter. We go to Scratch regularly and have never been disappointed. They always have interesting beers on tap. They'll give you a taste to help you decide. The bartenders are always friendly and laid back. All round - an excellent place.

Come for the beers, stay for the beers.. All the staff there are legends for starters, always on the ball and helping you out with choices. The atmosphere is fantastic for a sunday session, or an anyday session really :-). The beers are fantastic with a good range so it will have something for everyone, if you haven't been then you are simply missing out.
One of my favorite bars in Brisbane. The choice of beers, fantastic vibe and outstanding service brings me back everytime. Definitely a must visit.
Rad. Such a rad place. Went here with a friend a few months back. I don't even drink beer or cider, but I ordered a cider (or which I drank half), but I absolutely loved the atmosphere. My friend and I sat around at a bench table, drinking, eating peanuts (they're free!) and playing scrabble (all free, just grab em' and play em')! Seems to attract a likable crowd too. Was absolutely great! Wish I didn't live so far away, or that they'd make entertaining places in Northside too!
Beer tasting rocks!. They let you try a few before you decide which is really handy as I do like my variety. Passionate staffs and relaxed atmosphere. Really cool place. Keep it up!
You can see the XXXX Brewery neon signs from this place. I just love the irony of the fact that a place like this that serves such wonderful beer is so close to the source of Queensland's worst beer! Keep on serving great beer guys!
Great selection of beers, friendly place and some fantastic cheeses and breads to snack on. They don't serve meals as such but beer and cheese covers two of the essential food groups. Doen't it?
I have found the love of my life. This may sound like I am exaggerating, but I've never been to a bar before that has made me weak at the knees. Put it this way, the first time I went, I went back twice the same day. I've never been anywhere three times in one day.
The Scratch: impecable service and the right idea about beer; nothing but independant craft beers and the most amazing keg rotating idea I've ever come across. Every time one runs outs, they put a new keg on, so you'll never get bored with the beer! And peanuts, so many beautiful peanuts.

There is a heaven for beer drinkers and it's called Scratch. Just be warned that it is popular and you may have to queue for a few minutes to get in.

Wonderful service.. I popped in for a quick solo drink on a Saturday afternoon to see what the fuss was about. I was warmly greeted the moment I walked through the door, then offered samples of each of the current selections on tap as well as a short spiel about each of them. After making my selection, I curled up on a couch up the back and enjoyed. Great job, guys.
Worth a Visit!. Sampled some fine beers & cheeses at Scratch last night. I really like what these guys are doing. We need more boutique craft beer joints, especially because of the major hotel chain duopoly (coles/woolies) association with the duopoly brewers (fosters/lionnathan). A lot of passion in this place. So many beers and a regular rotation on the taps.
If you're about good, local, craft beers and cheese with crusty breads plus like to try before you buy beers on tap - this should be your next place to visit!
Love this place. Definitely the best thing to happen to Park Rd in a while, and I think the location suits it perfectly. There are different beers on tap every week so you can always try something new. It only holds 60 people so it's cosy, intimate and casual, and the decor is kind of like your grandad's loungeroom. There's also an interesting (and delicious) cider selection to choose from.
Highly recommended. Small but lively bar with a great atmosphere (even on a Tuesday night). Bar staff were very friendly and happy to allow customers to sample the four current (but always changing) tap beers before making a selection. Will definitely be back.

To call it a dive is probably fair, but it’s the best thing to happen to Park Road in a long time.
I like that joint, albeit small, it provides the right dose of relaxation after a stressful day at work.
Great place to grab a drink with mates and try some of the craft beers. The only problem is that the bar itself doesn’t have any restrooms and one has to go out all the way around the back of the next door building to use the restrooms.

Super cute bar that feels like a cosey grandma's living room with a great beer range. Their fridge has so many out-there sours.
A lively local bar with a great atmosphere that's been around for 10 years so that alone speaks volumes. Tasty cocktails and plenty of craft beers to choose from. The cheese boards are delicious and good value. Super friendly crew. Highly recommend.
Always tip notch service here, as well as a cool atmosphere and large selection of rotating on-tap drinks to pick from!
Being able to order food to here from the local restaurants is also a great idea too.
Never been here on a Friday or Saturday, but it's got a lovely atmosphere still on other days of the week. 👌
Scratch is a cosy little spot that really does feel like you're hanging out at a mate's place. Beer selection is good and I love the fact that you can order food from anywhere else song the street. A few neighbouring restaurants are happy to walk your food over, awesome stuff.
If you're into craft beer and visiting brissie you have to visit the scratch. Brisbane didn't have a craft beer scene before the scratch. It was the original and arguable is still the best. Still as full of character and excellent beers as it was when it first opened. I love this place.
We have been coming here for over 7 years and still love it.
