Review Doo-bop Bar - Brisbane

J Skene
Great to see some live music again! And on a Wednesday! #stoked Loved the option to submit song requests. Musician was very talented and did their best to play our requests. Bar staff were friendly and attentive. Loved the cocktails. Plenty of seating. Would love to come back on our next trip. Highly recommended. Thanks for an awesome evening! đź‘Ś

Discovered this piano bar on Saturday night out with friends - after dinner. We were highly impressed with the place. Live music is back and after a night at the Doo-Bop Bar it certainly reminded us what we had been missing. It felt like a safe place, had super friendly and engaging staff. Drink prices wet reasonable for bar like this that has no cover charge. Luckily, we were there for both the early and late piano men shows. Pretty sure it was Shane Parry we saw after 10pm and Michael Hynes earlier. Both had the party going the singalongs . They is also a basement jazz bar we didn’t venture into, but our friends said it was certainly worth a visit.

What a great experience. We rarely venture out, but attended upstairs for a birthday party. We ended up being drawn downstairs to the basement where we saw the best adhoc playing band. Good prices, very good staff and even better atmosphere. We might get out a bit more now

Rather small but well positioned bar. The live music provides a wonderful atmosphere where people felt comfortable getting up and dancing or singing along. The drinks are reasonably priced and the staff are genuinely friendly and kind people. Don't expect to find a seat or have much room to stand if with a reasonable sized group.

Very busy little bar, bottom end of Edward Street, with live entertainment (a lively duo were playing 80's & 90's tunes, on the night we were there), popular cocktail's were the go to, with four working the bar - fits 50 to 60 people comfortably. More than likely find ourselves back there on a return to Brisbane.

Started upstairs in the piano bar, music was drowned out by people noise. Felt sorry for guy playing piano as he was good, just couldn't hear him. The basement different story. Still lots of people but walls absorbed the noise so band not drowned out. Staff are awesome, quick service and quick to pick up glasses etc. Will be going back to The Basement.

From the amazing talent behind the piano, to the delicious cocktails from behind the bar, this place is stunning. The staff were attentive, friendly, and accommodating, and make a damn fine Manhattan. For a low-key, more intimate performance head in on a Thursday night. For a rambunctious, dance-till-you-drop night, make sure you're there on a Saturday. Will be back, soon & often!

Really enjoyed our time in this bar. The blues band that played the night we were there was amazing. The only issue we had was there was no non alcoholic beer for my husband to drink. As he can't drink full strength now, water didn't quite cut it,so we didn't stay long . Very limited choice of alcoholic beverages

One of Brisbane's hidden gems - both the Jazz Bar and the Piano Bar are great. Friendly and helpful staff in both bars. In the jazz bar, the gentleman waiter with the handlebar mo is probably the most effective waiter in all of Brisbane. The piano bar also doubles as a wonderful breakfast café.

We went to Doo-bop for my birthday, fantastic night, we started at the piano bar which had great service and atmosphere, we then went to the jazz bar for the nights entertainment, the service from the start was exceptional, the food was great and really enjoyable. pumpkin cheesecake being a very big highlight. great venue we'll definetly be making it a regular :) very small gripes: portion or the prawns was quite small with only 4 prawns it looked/felt more like a starter felt a bit meagre for the price. would have liked to see coopers on tap downstairs as it was in the piano bar unfortunately for me this was swapped out for Guiness. i appreciate people like guiness it's just personal preference :)

Stumbled upon the piano bar early evening....what a breath of fresh air!! A modern day jazz bar welcoming a great mix of people & age groups. It’s all about the staff - the manager made us feel so welcome with a personal introduction & unexpected invite to the basement jazz bar? The guys behind the bar were brilliant....their style, attitude, knowledge & cocktail skills were a pleasure to watch if you score a seat at the bar. The place stays alive from beginning to end & listening to the late night grooves with Breanna was a treat - serious talent! Hope this place continues to thrive as it offers an experience we haven’t yet found in Brisbane - be back for sure!

Great atmosphere, amazing service and easily some of the best food I've ever tasted! I went for the jazz, but I would have been just as happy going for that amazing food! Absolute value for money, and highly recommend!

That atmosphere and service was amazing. Glad to see Brisbane finally having more of a jazz scene. The food is great value for money and looked nice but didn't taste very good (i had the rump and potatoes). They have a great selection of alcohol. I will definetly return and recommend to friends and family.

Thank you very much to the Doo bop bar. I took my husband tonight for birthday drinks and ended up spending the whole night there. The staff were amazing and the music was great... We were looking for a good Piano bar and have finally found it. We will certainly be back a lot!!!

Delightful atmosphere up close and personal to the performances. Very good food and wine. Reasonable entrance fee (discount for us old music lovers). So fabulous to have a jazz bar in centre of town.

Great food and drink selection, reasonably priced. Lovely staff and wonderful, varied line ups. All round class. Brisbane needs this! Support it people!

Played some music at this awesome venue last night, the staff were, I have to say, outstanding, just a fun and efficient crew of people, the room was great, sound was wonderful and the audience were attentive, what more could we want! Thank you!

So excited to see a new wonderful and groovy JAZZ club in Brisbane! Fantastic vibe, friendly staff and music. I will drop in every time I visit Brisbane. Thank you!

Lovely venue with a basement bar for bigger acts, and a more intimate piano bar upstairs. Sound is good in both spots, and there’s a good range of booze to satisfy everyone

Great venue and thoroughly enjoyed myself however, the food was fairly standard.

I started at the piano bar and got the dips and bread trio which I will speculate was no freshly made but bought. When I went to the show, I had the black onyx rump which was OK but very small portion. Dessert was OK, key lime pie - nothing to talk about really. Solid but not amazing. Venue is great though but I wouldn't eat there specifically.

We had a great night at Doo-Bop and thoroughly enjoyed the music. However our Thelonious Monk sharing platter was supposed to come with duck spring rolls, but instead we were given big chunks of pumpkin and fennel. Neither of us eat pumpkin or fennel, so it was quite disappointing. I'm not sure why these two items appeared on our plate when they weren't meant to be there, plus we were paying extra $ for the platter since it was part of a sit-down show. The other items such as the corn fritters, chicken wings & lamb koftas were very nice, but I can't figure out why we didn't get what we paid for. The service was also a bit hit & miss that night. Doo-Bop is a favourite venue of ours so I hope our next experience there will be a bit better.

We enjoyed a two course meal at Doo-Bop Jazz Bar. We attended because our son was playing in the jazz band that evening. What a great night we had. The service was good, food enjoyable but the best part was the intimate atmosphere created and being surrounded by jazz lovers. We were treated to great music from the JMI senior students! Highly recommend the venue and are grateful for a place that encourages and supports local artists. Best night in ages!

I've never been here for food but it's a fantastic music venue. Consistently great shows if you pick them right and an amazing atmosphere. Staff are very professional too.

Great venue! Would definitely recommend the Miles Davis platter if you're a little more on the hungry side or if its your first time! The atmosphere and the vibes are all time. Music and ambience are on point. The staff will make sure you feel welcomed and are looked after.

This is my favourite Jazz bar of all time! From the atmosphere to the food, music and staff everything about this Jazz bar is absolutely exquisite! I definitely recommend coming here!

Awesome ambiance, good food and tasteful music that makes you feel soulful. The staff was courteous and friendly to let us enjoy our get together more fun.

This is a really cool funky little spot in the city that is great for a night out. The food was great, my partner and I had one of the sharing platters which was great and enough for us before going halves in a great banoffee pie for dessert. Looking forward to coming back here next time I have some hankering for jazz.

Absolutely love this place! The atmosphere here is amazing and not to mention what they sell. I ordered this lovely dessert and it was a solid 10/10. I recommend this business to others and I will be returning. Thanks guys for your great food and service.

It’s been awhile since I’ve last place a review on Zomato, but Doo-Bop definitely deserves a mention. My partner and I started out our holiday, venturing from our hotel to the local bars, somewhere a bit more out of our comfort zone of a casual R&B night club. We stubbled upon this snazzy Jazz Bar.

The vibe of the venue was amazing, from the crowd to the staff to the atmosphere it had provided. You wouldn’t expect such a scene back home.

From adventures to locals, I definitely recommend you pop by even if it’s just for a drink or two. But don’t pass on the food! If your hungry definitely grab a bite, it’s basically fine dining without the price tag!

Will be back here again! Thanks for the hospitality!

Awesome restaurant in Brisbane CBD!
The Chocolate Brulee was simply delicious and was my personal favorite!! (would definitely recommend it). The presentation of the food is well thought out and the prices are extremely acceptable in comparison to the quality that is being offered.
Staff are SUPER friendly and knowledgable. The best part is the music and the overall vibe of the place, there's nothing better than eating in a place full of good vibes :)
Will surely visit again!!

I came to Doo-Bop Jazz Bar hearing the food and atmosphere was great. I came to this restaurant during my holiday to Brisbane and the place is in a good location. It did live up to its name and the live band was a bonus. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Overall, the food is lovely and I recommend the Oyster dish, it is quite unique and is a must try. I would come back to this restaurant when I visit Brisbane next time and I recommend to friends.

It was amazing food and nothing to complain about. Delicious and hearty brunch with exceptional flavors. Will defo be back, loved it. We had the trio of fries with rosemary salt and aiolli, beetroot, pumpkin and thai beef salad. We finished it off with the Monk platter. Its a must try in Brissie. We were travelling from Melbourne and found it quite apt. Must try.

I would definitely say this is a perfect place for fine dining. I loved this place, it was so live with the jazz music. We were extremely satisfied with their lovely service and well-presented food.

Great ambience and vibe with a nice outdoor dining area. An excellent menu choices, we ordered Thai beef salad and Miles Davis platter you can definitely feel their love for food and service with their extraordinary presentation and an excellent taste. To say Doo-Bop have just nailed the art of creative dining by making interesting combinations and presenting them artfully. You can never resist coming back.

Definitely recommend this place to enjoy your meal.

Wonderful place for a pleasant evening. Affordable cover charge for outstanding music. Drinks are quite reasonable. Moreover, there is lively atmosphere it's definitely worth the visit. The night that I arrived music was instrumental Jazz. Then I stopped by for an enjoyable evening with my fiancee. We had a great night. Highly recommended. A++

My partner and I dined here over the weekend and thought very highly. Our meals were delicious (recommend the King Brown Mushrooms and the BBQ brisket), service was first class and entertainment enjoyable. We will be back!

I love this place! If you love your jazz there’s no other place to be! You can start with some cocktails upstairs where it’s nice and chill, then for another cool underground vibe, you go downstairs and that’s where the real party starts. The staffs are attentive and friendly and the food is great. But the best part about it is the music and the cool atmosphere. We’ll be back!

Enjoyed a show here last night. Food was really tasty ESPECIALLY dessert! Staff are very chirpy and the atmosphere was just what we were looking for. All round good experience. That neon sign in the stairway - awesome

Love this place, I'm a regular for Coffee each morning. Friendly staff, cheap coffee and a nice atmosphere. Even better is the live entertainment and lightning fast free WIFI. Good to see a venue catering for more of an upper-class crowd in Brisbane rather than the usual beer stained wood and bogans.

Only came here in the morning to grab a cup of coffee, didn't disappoint me, and lovely to be waiting for my coffee in a pretty new decorated place. Would love to come back for food one day with the live band (i suppose)

This is quite a new place, according to our local daughter, and was recommended after she had been here once recently. We booked a table for 4 in the piano bar upstairs, and they had no trouble adding 2 more on when some friends could join us. The ambience and fit out is classy and of a high standard. The duet performing were enjoyable. While waiting for our friends, we enjoyed some shared plates of honey chorizo, olives and warm nuts, and sweet potato fries with aioli. I thought the sweet potato fries needed salt, and the aioli was rather bland. Wife and daughter enjoyed their main course of chicken larb, and the fish dish looked and tasted good according to our friend. The boys ordered pork medallions with a corn salsa and chimichurri. It didn't come with much else, and my only gripe is that apart from the sweet potato fries, there's no other options like seasonal vegetables or a salad to make a full dinner out of your main course. Hopefully, they might add these in due course.
The service staff were young and friendly, although it would pay to remember that it's usually considered bad form to start removing plates from the table before all the diners are finished.
Overall, the dishes are well priced, and cheaper than I expected, most of the dishes are pretty tasty, although a little more seasoning or maybe options on the table would be welcome, friendly staff, nice vibe, and pleasant surroundings.

Came here for lunch. This place really is what Brisbane needed. The Jambalaya was fantastic - smokey, fresh and great texture. The live jazz and vintage posters is something different and pleasant at lunch. The staff were all lovely and responsive - we pre-booked food with no problems at all. Highly recommended.

Most of my readers by now would have realised my deep affection for video games, but another less known passion I have is for Jazz. Having been to the Brisbane Jazz Club at Kangaroo Point several times, I was quite pleased to hear that there would be a new Jazz Bar, Doo Bop opening in the CBD. Despite wanting to go to the opening night, tickets were sold out very quickly, and so I settled on going the second week. The pace consisted of two levels, a Jazz bar in the basement, and a Piano bar at ground level. We opted for the two course dinner and tickets to Mal Wood's performance on Saturday night at the basement.
