Review Bangkok Milton - Brisbane

Lawrence Gay
Wow... our 1st visit to this Thai restaurant at Milton. It was very busy with 2 large bookings of 15 to 20 customers on each booking. The atmosphere in the restaurant gives you a pleasant feeling and the table settings were beautifully laid. Very attentive staff and the service was good. Great menu with very good choices of Thai dishes from entrees to main courses. A good choice of holy water (wine) 🤣 and beverages.🥂 The dishes we ordered were very delicious and satisfying (maybe a bit more spicy bite for us being Asian 😀😀) The serving was very generous and the price is right. Highly recommended 👏👏👏👍

I really wanted to like this place as it was recommended by a discerning family member. It was the issue of telling the wait staff that I simply wanted a mild vege fried rice. After clarifying the veggies that I did not want capsicum, onion and tomato (dietary issue) and what veggies the kitchen had that were ok, the first version came through with chilli all thru it and a fried egg on top. At least it had veggies thru it - broccoli, carrot, peanuts. This was because the wait staff had to categorise my meal as a Nasi goreng and not understanding my request that I just wanted a mild fried rice. Requested the mild fried rice to be redone and this time it came with egg through it and carrots and peanuts only. Asked for a small bowl of broccoli so I could just add it to the rice myself and the chef refused to do that and advised the wait staff that he would only do a dish of stir fry veggies that would be charged. So, they couldn’t get my one dish correct but wanted to charge me for something that I wouldn’t and couldn’t finish and create food wastage. The only plus side is their portions are generous. Service was polite but it’s useless if you can’t relay what the diner wants to the kitchen. Either do it or say no and I would have ordered something else. Don’t screw up a request - twice. The rice was left as is and only 3 tablespoons eaten due to hunger. In the end, another staff member understood where the issue was with the kitchen and the meal was not charged. I would return but not in a hurry. And the next time I would make sure that they understand I just want mild veggie fried rice.

We had takeout, and I can say that the cuisine is excellent but at a reasonable price. We got the Deep fried fish fillet flavor sauce and hot butter calamari. My best bud liked it. It was our first time there, but we plan to return. In addition, everyone on the staff was exceptionally kind.

My expectations were well exceeded, not just by the quality of the dinner but also by the caliber of service that I received at this place. Without a doubt, the most delicious example of Thai cuisine I've ever had. Without tasting the Peanut Chicken beef and the Sour & Dried Calamari, you simply can't leave. I don't know about other food; I hope they all are excellent....

A decent Thai cuisine in a warm and inviting setting. There is a lot of information on the menus, and the meal was delicious. Excellent customer service from a team that goes above and beyond to assist. As a Thai food fanatic, I highly suggest checking out this restaurant. I'm sure I'll be returning.

Always friendly service. Foods tasty and fresh. One of the best Thai and Sri Lankan food I've had.

Me and some of my friends visited a few weeks ago. And I got to say that this was a great restaurant experience, and yes, we've all been to Thailand before. I think the cuisine is better since it is more genuine, and I want to express my gratitude to the chef for his outstanding work, and also, I hope that they will always provide this quality standard.

I must say, I don't know about other dishes, but the soup and salad were great. I have tested the Thai Noodle Soup, and one of my friends has taken Tom Yum. We both are happy with our food and their service. Apart from it, the restaurant environment was pleasant.

My children loved the chicken satay skewers. Great flavours, friendly quick service, quiet, casual ambience of bold pink and purple decor as per photos on the website. Highly recommend- chicken tom kha soup, duck chilli basil, beef pad see ew. Couldn't stop eating, fragrant and delicious.

So order a usual takeaway tonight via Uber Eats as we have done. In our satay chicken skewers with peanut sauce we had a army of ants, never knew that was an extra menu item? Has been good in the past but now I won’t even touch my main because of the ants. Can I come and return my main?

Got takeaway after getting recommendation from a friend and the Koththu was really really good. Just like in Sri Lanka taste and I got a Chilli chicken with it and it was just as good as koththu. The koththu was not dry and had good amount of meat and proper spices bringing the flavours.
Very nicely done online ordering system and friendly customer service.

Excellent service and best Thai food in town. Little hidden gem.

I am sure that I have written a review for this restaurant a few years ago but the location was not here. Anyway, I could not locate my review from the Zomato webpage (not surprising bcos it happens often) so I treat it as the first review.
Held a EatClub prom of 20% off to have a Sunday lunch here. Ambience and service are both good. We placed a coconut prawn to share (not feeling very hungry) and mains of Chu Chee curry with fish to go with a coconut rice and a dish of Rad Nah. It was the first time to try these two main dishes. Well, coconut prawns came with normal size and they are crispy. Both mains are the surprises. Rad
Nah is full of Wok Qi and it seems like Chinese stir-fried Ho fan but even better with enough gravy. Fish dish carries spot-on spiciness (we asked for mild) and the portion was extra-ordinary generous. If the coconut rice is dryer, a full mark will be deserved.
Rating:4.5/5

A Scoopon deal $30 for 3 courses for 2 people brought us to Bangkok Milton. It’s such a good value deal. Started with a coconut juice and a Thai milk tea while we were deciding our meals. Our first course we got fish cake that tasted nice but a bit too chewy, and satay chicken that was quite too thick and not much flavour (loved that the chicken was grilled not deep fried like many places). For mains, the stir fry kale with crispy pork was a bit salty and kale was slightly over cooked, and the stir fry pork with basil was pretty tasty but served in a different version (pork was battered and deep fried). The serving portions were generous. We both had a custard with sticky rice that was well presented with a smooth flavour. Appreciated the lady who served us that night. She was busy on her own but still remained calm and attentive. We would rather rate 3.5/5.

For a Thai restaurant, their food is not very authentic. We ordered the Tom Yum seafood - somewhat tasty but not authentic / Pad kee maw - noodle came out hard at first so we asked them to cook it again, but the dish wasn't as flavoursome as it should have been from other Thai food experiences / Chu Chee prawn curry - very watery with prawns that were obviously the frozen kind / Deep fried fish fillet - this dish was probably the best out of all the 4 dishes, the fish was fresh and tasty.

We also ordered entrees:
Fish cake - very yummy, a bit too salty
Satay chicken - very tough chicken
Fried coconut prawns - yummy, fresh prawns if you don't mind the coconut batter
Calamari - not much flavour

Last but not least, dessert:
Fried ice cream - came out cold, didn't seem to have been fried on the spot. They also placed a bit of Parsley on top of it, i find that very odd.
Sticky rice with pudding - quite delicious with a good blend of sweet and salty.

Service was a bit mixed, 2 ladies were very nice and accommodating while the 3rd one spilled curry on our table because she carelessly dumped the curry into the table while she was serving.

Overall, the price is expensive and not worth the quality of the food. It is still edible but I would not return again. PS. They also charge extra $2 for seafood dishes.

Went here for the first time tonight and it was delicious! Loved the food and the service was amazing - such a lovely hostess! Will definitely be coming back again soon 😍

We actually had a coupon deal for this restaurant at Milton which included three courses. Have to say the service & food were above average. Quality of the dishes & produce used was also excellent. My tom yum soup had a good selection of fresh vegetables with a chilli hit & fresh zesty tang of lime leaf. Red curry also well spiced & a huge serve. Desert we had to take away as we were so full. A great night so thanks

We dined here last night on a Scoopon voucher, the waitress that served us was exceptional, so professional, friendly and efficient! Entrees were ok, my husband had the Fried calamari and the first piece he ate was overcooked and chewy, but the rest was perfectly fine, I had the spring rolls and they were quite average. Hubby had the Massaman Beef, the bigger chunks of beef were dry and tough but the smaller pieces were cooked to perfection and he really loved the sauce. I had the Prawn Pad Thai, not the best I have had, greasy and extremely salty sauce, barely any fresh bean sprouts or hint of palm sugar, and not garnished with peanuts and no lemon on the side but a generous amount of prawns and tofu, and very large portions for both meals.

Desserts were abit of a let down, hubby had the sticky rice with mango and I had sticky rice with pumpkin custard, we've both had our fair share of sticky rice in Oz and Thailand and we usually love it, and this was a tad mediocre.

Overall, it was great value with the Scoopon voucher and we could not fault the service, the place was spotless and had nice ambience and decor, and the ingredients were fresh, and the location was easy to find with ample parking available. We will definitely give this place another go and try some other dishes next time.

It’s a beautiful Thai restaurant on the top floor of a building in Milton with an interesting interior design. The subtle music made the environment very relaxing.
The staff was a very nice and friendly lady. She was very attentive and welcoming.
We bought the scoopon deal which came with a main, entree, drink and dessert each.
I tried the Thai green tea which was amazing, very smooth.
We had vegetable noodles and red curry. They both came in a generous size, well presented, very tasty with so many types of vegetables.
It’s strongly recommended.

This restaurant has good reviews I was looking forward to trying the Pad Thai.
It was drenched in an oily, overly tangy and sweet sauce. The menu described the tofu as ‘fried’ but it was boiled in the sauce and tasted accordingly. The broccoli was limp and didn’t look fresh as a result. Whilst eating the oil separated from the sauce and there must have been several tablespoons of oil on the plate.

Had a red curry and tom yum. It was DELICIOUS. and so generous with servings! The lady at the desk was also so lovely. Definitely try this restaurant!

Best Thai in Brisbane! AMAZING service and even better food! It's just such a lovely place, incredible service, fantastic atmosphere, and delicious food. We had the pad Thai, massaman beef, ginger beef stir fry, with their amazing coconut rice. Everything was fantastic, and they overheard it was my birthday and brought me a free dessert, which was also super yummy :) seriously lovely people, who made me feel so at home.

In plain simple and straightforward way - Loved it

The food and the service is great. This is a real hidden gem. Cute little place with indoor and outdoor seating. The curry puffs are excellent. A thin crispy layer then it's soft and smooth as it practically melts in one's mouth. The filling was good as well.
The chicken massaman was amazing. The icing on the cake was, the guy serving offered me a free iced green tea as it was scorching hot outside the restaurant. The green tea was soooooo good. I couldn't stop myself (the first thing I did after leaving the restaurant was to Google how to make one). I am writing this review after 8 hours but the taste is still lingering in my mouth. Must try.

This service was awesome and there I stepped out with a satisfied look and smile on my face which eluded me for a long time.

Must go place.

Great Thai food and great service. Drop .5 because I really can't stand the dated furnishings and staff outfits - but I guess that comes with territory.

Went here for dinner last night and the food was great!! I can't understand why they aren't more busy. If your local to Toowong or Auchenflower you should definitely pop in and give them a try and support a local business. I had the beef massamun, I'd normally never order a Thai beef curry but it was highly recommended on zamato and by our waitress. Was not disappointed! Decent chunks of beef that were so tender they just fell apart. Our entrees were clearly made in house not bought in, and they were really good as well. We will definitely be back.

I love my thai food and having lived in Sydney & Melbourne all my life, coming up to Brisbane ive been shattered with how hard it is to find even edible thai food.. Bangkok Milton is one of the highest Rated restaraunts and its for a good reason..

They are one of so few places that do a real Mussaman Beef Curry, where the beef pulls apart and its freaking delicious.. I mean its the highlight every time.. their other curries are good too, exactly what you would expect but its all about the Mussaman.

The strange thing with this place however is the Stir-Fries are actually really quite bad, as is the Mussaman Chicken, the meat isnt breast I guess like it is in the curries, and stirfries like Chicken Cashew Nut or a Pad Thai Chicken is really quite ordinary.. so I dunno like always its about finding the right dishes I guess, but we travel a good 30min out of our way to get our curries from here.. and definitely recommend giving it a crack!

Here for the second time, loved everything.. Ordered an array of dishes, the coconut rice was simply amazing. Best place for sharing good food and good company. The chilli basil tofu was exceptionally delicious, they even allow you to tweak the spicyness of items like the tom yum soup and green curry! If you're feeling spoiled for choice, just ask for a recommendation and the lovely waitress will pick something absolutely delightful!! Something that will really stick with me would be the service, the waitress will even take the time to explain various dishes and their origins if you are interested. Located in a nice area, the restaurant usually has plenty of space so you can just walk in and grab a table, no fuss. Beautiful ambience, gorgeous food - what are you waiting for?

I've been all over Thailand and to many thai resturants around brisbane and the world, nothing beats their massaman curry... also every other dish is also so deep with flavour and authenticity. Fantastic Thai. The best Thai we have had in ages. The spring rolls and dumplings were so good I could have had more. The beef, duck and vegetables were perfectly cooked with just the right amount of flavoring. The whole evening was totally enjoyable. Easy parking a bonus!

Best Thai ever!. I cannot believe that Bangkok Milton is still such a hidden gem! The food is absolutely fantastic. The commitment to quality food is amazing, the servings large, the taste divine and they don't skimp on the meat and seafood.
Do yourself a favour and try this place out - you won't regret it. The service is also warm and friendly.

Best Thai Food in Brisbane!. Went to Bangkok Milton for the first time last night - the food was absolutely amazing! A little more expensive but totally worth it. Pad thai and yellow chicken curry to die for. Have found our new thai place.. will definitely be back!

Worth the money!. Don't be put off by the prices...the food is absolutely worth it!! Their beef massaman is to die for! We drive from Cleveland across town to Milton for their Thai food. Service is fantastic - very attentive and friendly. Everything cooked fresh and with care and attention. Even their entrees are the best I've had. Recommend dim sims, curry puffs and fish cakes.

WOW - Second to none - AWESOME - been so many times always exceptional. Best in Qld. Staff always so so super friendly. Our favorite Thai. Always use fresh ingredients.

Always Superb! (Really).. My family and I got hooked on the fare from Bankok Milton over 15 years ago. We have always returned, despite moving house 4 times and trying numerous other Thai restaurants - few compare. I now drive past 3 other Thai restaurants to visit. The dishes are always fresh, consistently well prepared and the flavors are to dine for. You can watch the Chef in his starched whites through the window into the sparkling kitchen. The Massaman Beef Curry is just unreal and the Seafood so fresh. The staff are very friendly and attentive. Having eaten at many others, I rate Bankok Milton 9.5/10 for the food and service. Even my kids are now hooked!

The best Thai we have had other than in Thailand ! We nothing negative to say and have brought countless friends and family to Bangkok Milton and all have raved about it ! It's a secret that should be shared with everyone !

We love it!. This restaurant has been a must go place for Thai since we moved into the Toowong area some 2 years ago now. We love to eat in, which obviously provides the freshest option, but takeaway is always excelent, also.

Sets the standard. My parents discovered this in the 1990s and i'm forever grateful. Since then it has been my benchmark for neighbourhood Thai and none other have ever measured up. Totally dependable, simply delicious and slightly addictive. Worth going out of your way for.

First time here introduced by a mate who's been coming for years, met sanchi and chai the owner and his son. This is the best Thai I've had in aust and better than some in Thailand! Get the duck, flavour packed and cooked perfectly!

My family and I have been recurring customers at this quiet joint in milton. It is by far the best Thai restaurant around. Service 9/10, food 10/10 ambiance 7/10. Prices may seem pricey at first, but it is will worth it. My favourotes include the BBQ pork ribs in Thai style, the green curry chicken and chilli basis tofu. A must-visit restaurant!!!!!!
