Nice restaurant with full of options. Vegetarian and vegan friendly. Excellent for group lunch. Their hot flavour is extremely hot. Hence, be careful about the meals with chili signs.
Came here on a Thursday evening with a few friends with reso but got seated in a corner table with not a lot of room. I think the place upgraded their system to tablet service, but the staff were unfamiliar with the electronic service so it took a bit longer. But overall, solid Thai food and good value !
Great dining option for large groups / work lunches (be prepared to book before hand as it does get busy during peak lunch periods). Have dined here multiple times now and can confirm that food consistently never disappoints! Although pricey, you do in return get very generous servings. My favourite is the pad thai :).
Came here on a weekday lunch to order takeaway back to the office. Really great Pad Thai! Pretty pricy however, but was a really generous serving so while not an everyday lunch option, definitely a treat-yo-self kinda meal! Would be interested to dine in too!

Great location, good environment with both indoors and outdoors area, various of beverage choices with reasonable price. Everything is prefect Just the cashier is a bit unfriendly.
So good went there on a date night! The staff couldn’t speak english that well that’s why I gave them a 4 and we couldn’t communicate that well. I wish they had more options for vegetarians as my date was vego but we sorted it.
Had a really wonderful dinner here. They had a great beef massaman curry. The crispy pork belly was crispy, but a tad too hard to chew. The pad Thai was decent but not the best I've had. It could afford to have a spicy kick. The service was great too as they were really accommodating for a birthday celebration.

My partner and I were in Brisbane on a work trip and came here for a late dinner and were very impressed!
We came on a Saturday evening and on offer were 50c chicken wings! YES PLEASE!!
We had 10 wings, some rice, vegetables and a curry to share. Everything was incredible! Amazing flavours! The food was delicious and fresh and fun! And the total bill for the two of us came to $33!!!
The atmosphere is buzzing and everyone is happy, the wait staff are super prompt and always helpful.
Even the water is good!! Super cold from the fridge poured into little tin cups!

Had the pad Thai, duck curry and saffron fried rice. Would recommend them all. Absolutely fantastic food with a really cool vibe inside. Service might not be perfect but the overall experience is still fantastic
I’ve been here countless of times with friends and family. Twice for my birthday consecutive years. I love getting the pork belly with green beans. However, the quality has dropped a little, and sometimes it’s served a little cold. The customer service and hospitality here is outstanding. I’ve celebrated my birthday here twice already and they made me feel very welcomed and extremely special. This joint is my 2nd favorite thai place in Brisbane.
Delicious green papaya salad — just the right balance of sweet, lime, papaya, dried shrimp and peanuts — and crispy pork and basil 🌿 rice along with cold and fresh Thai Singha beer. Good efficient service too. Will go again!

Nice fresh and fragrant Thai food. Service here is very quick and helpful, even if the place is busy they seem to manage very well. I feel like their salads are what they do best, the beef salad was bursting with fresh herbs and spice and the papaya salad was excellent too. The curries could use a bit more punch in terms of heat but maybe that is just my taste buds that crave the chili...
Pretty good food, but a little pricey for the portion sizes. I tried the Tom Yum Fried Rice which was really good, and a couple other dishes prior (I think the Pad Thai was a bit of a miss). Service has been pretty good so far, and the location/ambience is not bad.
This restaurant did not disappoint, we were seated at the bar due to how busy the restaurant was but the outdoor seating which patio heaters was really nice. Shared tables are quite common.
We order d the BBQ chicken, sounds boring but it really wasn’t, full of flavour similar to other Gai Yang that we have had in the past.
The Pad Thai was good but have had better.
Their new spicy seafood fried rice, medium spice level, was complimented the flavours of the dish.
The Barramundi deep fried chilli and tamarind fish was delicious. Perfectly cooked, delicately flavoured with the tamarind sauce on the side. I really appreciated this as it allows you to decide how much sauce you wish to use.
Overall, the food was very good as well as the friendly service. Would come back, if ever in Brisbane again.
Except for an unexpected "stone cold" spot in Prawn Dumplings I had as an entrée, I was impressed by the overall experience. It did make me question if the dumplings were quickly reheated as that may explain the cold spot? The dumplings were nonetheless delicious with genuine prawn pieces.
The Beef Massaman Curry with rice was equally flavorful and well cooked. For a single diner the papaya salad was far too large, and less enjoyable than the rest due a particularly strong sour taste towards the bottom.
The restaurant is spacious and the service was friendly and efficient. The menu on the whole is very well priced for the portions and the quality of the food. I would certainly be happy to come back.
Great food, reasonably priced and really sweet staff. We got a pad thai and shitake mushroom stir fry to share; the pad Thai was a bit better than the stir fry but they were both good. It was quite busy but the food didn't take too long to come and it was a comfortable place to sit and chat.
In Brisbane for business, felt like Thai and found this little gem. Ambience was great, it had a really good vibe. The curry puffs were delicious, not dripping with oil like they can be. I ordered the massmum beef cheeks which were delicious. The beef was a touch tougher than it should have been but lovely all the same.
The service was quick and the staff friendly. Will definitely return when next in Brisbane looking for Thai.

The best Thai in Brisbane! I have had a long, sordid love affair with this place from the first time they appeared on ubereats! Nanxi and I have been here, maybe three or four times as a special dinner whenever we're in the city and have never been disappointed! No one Ive taken here has not been impressed as well. I'll do my review of the food I got on this one occasion, then do a bit of a ramble about the other stuff I've had.
Their deep fried barramundi is a wonder and a must order, if it hasn't already sold out! Fried with the fillets partially cut off for ease of eating and the entire fish so crispy we can eat basically everything besides the back bone! We got the crispy garlic and black pepper version, I always make sure I get a good serve of the garlic with each bit of fish.
We got this sour curry with tiger prawn and climbing wattle omelette. This was to no one's taste, a touch too sour and the curry sauce itself was thin and insipid. Would not recommend.
We got their grilled squid with Thai style dressing, such a tender serve of squid! I really enjoyed this. I poured the dressing all over the squid before anyone had even asked.
The Pad Thai here is always one we ordered, perfectly balanced, noodles are always well cooked, prawns are juicy, and it's a big serve!
Moo ping pork neck skewers were minced rather than whole pieces but had a gorgeous smokey char on them! The dipping sauce was a great sweet, spicy chilli sauce, perfect to cut through the fat and meatiness. There are three to a serve but Nanxi pinched one as I was taking the photo.
That's all for the photos, so here are my other recommendations!
Their drinks are really good! My favourite is their butterfly pea flower tea, it's an iced tea with a vibrant bright purple colour. Sometimes they sell out and I have to get something else :(
Dessert wise both their young coconut and pandan chiffon cake, so light, fluffy and with bits of young coconut meat between the layers, and their black rice pudding with coconut cream, thick, unctuous, creaminess with a luscious salted coconut cream, are perfect for Asian desserts!
Their beef cheek massaman curry is so good! You can get it as a serve for one with rice! The beef cheek sighs in defeat when threatened with a spoon! So gorgeously rich, it's been cooked so long it's falling apart. Soooo good!
Don't get their Wagyu crying tiger beef, served a bit rare even by my liking so their fat in the Wagyu doesnt render off.
Their Thai papaya salad is like a medium-hot but so good! Refreshing crunchy, sour, salty, spicy! The best thing to go with the fried fish!
Speaking of fried fish, the chilli and tamarind sauce is also a good option. Just depends if you like your fish to stay crispy for the entire time or want that contrast of flavours!
The chilli and Thai basil chicken will blow your head off, it's mind numbing spicy! Enough to make someone cry, beware that chilli!
Definitely try this place! I just wish it wasnt so hard to get to!
Such an awesome place tucked in the heart of the city. I went there quite late for dinner, and they accommodated my group so well.

I visited this Thai restaurant/bar for dinner. It’s a nice place in the city particularly for catching up with friends. Lovely bar and fantastic food. Quick service. Lots of vegetarian options. I loved the ambience and will definitely visit again.

this is without doubt my fave thai place in brisbane. you can ask for a gluten free menu & there’s so much variety you can order so i’m super grateful for that. food is served super quickly and customer service is always impeccable
i ordered a drunken noodles with chicken with the spiciest lvl they could go (thai hot). in the end it was super spicy and it was painful to eat but i still enjoyed it lol. there were heaps of peppers and chillis left over in my dish and it was kinda oily. the chicken was cooked decently — not too dry but not as succulent as it could be. there weren’t a lot of veggies so that was disappointing. i don’t think i would order smth this hot without some kind of side dish as relief hahaha.
i have tried their duck with lychee (last year) and that was really great, where everything was cooked to perfection and tasted delicious.
their roast beef rice unfortunately had the roast beef a tad more roasted than i would’ve liked (charred). i guess if you’re not too much of a fan of charred meat then go for their wagyu dish where the meat is meant to be served rare?
depending on what you order, the dishes can be worth the price and other times it might not be. but either way they really get the flavour profile spot on, even if some elements like the proteins could be improved. anyway i really do like this place a lot and will plan on coming back to try some other dishes. that being said, i do find them rather pricey for a thai place but since it’s in the city i think the prices are quite normal.
Went there with a not hungry stomach. But it still satisfies me! Especially the pork blood hot pot is just what I want (though they run out of their pork blood, just gave me more offal). However the pork liver in the hot pot, I can say it is total bad! It is so dried. I just picked all of those out. The hot pot looks so beautiful, I definitely will go again and try other hot pot. The pineapple fried rice is delicious as well, recommended!
But important tips! If you are not a person who loves incredible sweet, never try the butterfly pea flower & lemon tea. We just had a try, and then never touched it again. I think most of thai drinks are too sweet (for me).
So I will go there for food surely, but just with water will be just right.

Goodness me what a plateful of food that was. Tonight, Valentine’s Day, they fit in our table for 18 (not so romantic) and served up a great meal in superb time. My only criticism would be how hot it was outside. Not their fault though. I chose the masaman beef and the chicken skewers, she chose the chicken green curry and prawn dumplings. The potato was a bit hard in the beef but the rest was great. And the serve size and presentation were excellent. Washed down with a beer. For your info, big tables can order separately or split the bill (cash only). Gods stuff.
Nice place great service and above all food 10 out of ten. Next time in Brisbane I will come back. Value for money. Seated fast and all round great experience.
There was a great atmosphere here with lovely decor. Location is good as it is off the street and not noisy from traffic/pedestrians. the food was amazing quality and came to us very quickly after ordering.

⚡️Must try the Tom Yum Prawn Soup! You will fall in love with this magical flavor~ and the milk tea is not bad as well. Pad Thai is kind of wet while I prefer a drier one.
⚡️On every Friday from 4-6pm you can get a $6 beer or cider. Maybe I will visit it in a Friday afternoon soon~

I’ve always wanted to try Phat Elephant because its not only very very close to my workplace, but I’ve seen their Instagram and the pictures that they’ve uploaded looks so delicious. I’ve also seen pretty high reviews on the internet which made me really keen on trying this restaurant. Plus, I love Thai food.
Had a mai tai which was lovely and starters of satay chicken, money bags and fish cakes. All were great and flavourful very reminiscent of Thailand. Got the main of pad see ew, it was very nice, but the temperature of the food was warm, not hot. The restaurant was warm and by the end of dinner we were sweating and stuck to our seats. Not pleasant.

I went here with a group of 8 and we ordered several dishes and nothing disappointed. The ordering process was easy with you pressing a button at your table and staff coming straight over to take drinks or food order.
Highly recommend the papaya salad and pineapple fried rice delicious.
One of my party and I ordered the same dish. When mine came out, it had about half the amount of meat as my friend's. I pointed this out to the waitress. She took our meals back to the kitchen to show the chef. Only about 2 minutes later she's back with two meals that looked the same. Mine turned out to be cold. My friends was hot. Not sure how this can happen. I adjusted to the fact I was eating cold food, and it tasted OK. Would have been better fully heated. Not sure I'd go back.
Came here by accident since most shops were closed around 4pm but we really enjoyed the food. We ordered the pineapple fried rice and the green curry. Both are so so good😍😍 authentic taste and generous portion! Finished with their glutinous rice with coconut milk, such an awesome feast! We came back the next night because we have to🤤
Went here last night and was seated quickly despite the venue being packed and having not booked. Ordered cocktails, spring rolls, southern fried chicken, pad se ew with chicken, pineapple fried rice and mixed vegetables with peanut sauce. Prices are very reasonable. The food was delicious, the southern fried chicken and pineapple fried rice were surprisingly delicious. The service was a bit hit and miss. One cocktail came out quickly and we waited for 10 minutes for the other and had to ask for it when the entrees came out. We also weren't offered small plates to share the dishes. It was a great meal and I would definitely come back.
Just had a great lunch here, cool atmosphere and everything was full of flavour and fresh (and spicy! 😍) The food also came out really quickly and all at the same time (which is fantastic if you are busy and can't escape from the office for too long!) We tried the Red Duck Curry, Pad Thai, Roti and Spring Rolls.
Food was very yummy, but one of our orders was forgotten and Phat Elephant put up a big fight about bringing it to us. What a disaster. Only thing saving this place was the food. The thai flavours were strong and satisfying despite the lackluster customer service.
I quite like the food there. The fried fish is just like what you see on the menu picture. Its a whole fish with flashes fried in small pieces drizzle with sauces and the bone structure is also very delicious to snack on. We have ate it all!!!!
I do like the papaya salad, they have drunken crab in it which gives u a heat(if u order mild heat). Very tasty and special:):) best papaya salad i have tried in BnE so far. My friend ordered green chicken curry, the presentation is not very appealing so we have left it out from pictures.

Had an early meal on Saturday evening. Not bisy at all but very early. Good service and excellent food. Good value for money, quick food delivery and lots of taste.
Thai with a modern twist! We ordered the bbq pork shoulder, the red curry duck with lychees and pineapple and the roti bread. The food was lovely enriched with wonderful flavours. Ingredients were fresh and service was fast. The only minor comment was that the roti bread was very oily with oil oozing out as you bit into it. The staff are attentive and friendly making an overall a great dining experience. For dessert we ordered the pandan cake with coconut (didn't get a picture unfortunately) which was also delicious.
I had my birthday dinner here with a group of 16, they were very accommodating and friendly. I received a free birthday shot and cake!
The chicken BBQ wasn't that great ( a bit dry) the barramundi was pretty good and big ( the papaya salad was a hit) beef masamman was 7.5/10 the meat could have been more tender!

One of the better tasting Thai food in Brisbane. Ordered the red duck curry and Thai wagyu steak. Both were exceptional.
The duck was cooked perfectly and the curry had the right amount of tanginess and sweetness from the pineapples and lychees. It's definitely one of the best Thai curries I've tasted out of Asia! It's so distinctive and refreshing.
The steak was decent but the nam jim jaew sauce was the element that made this dish so flavoursome.
A high quality Thai experience. Take away on this occasion but after this experience, dining in will happen one day in the future. Ordered for take-away was the Southern fried chicken entree (surprise, surprise) and the grilled beef salad as a main. The salad contained copious amounts of beef, it was tremendous. Quite possibly the meatiest Thai beef salad The Dear Luncher has ever experienced. Fragrant and spicy. The fried chicken was delicious as well. Phat Elephant gets a big Dear Luncher tick.
Many friends recommended this thai restaurant to me, and finally had the opportunity to try it out. Pad See ew: delicious but not the best I have had, and it was a bit too oily and sweet~
Crispy fish with papaya salad: I reckon the papaya salad was much better the the fish. There was not much sauce in the fish, so it was pretty dry, and the skin was not that crispy.
Pineapple fried rice: nothing too surprising, and it didn't have that freshness of the pineapple, and it tasted more like curry fried rice.
Thai-style milk tea: yum! Tasted better when the ice melted cuz it would be more refreshing.
All in all: it is an acceptable thai restaurant but not as good as the one I tried last time.
Most of the items we had were a bit dry and overcooked but taste was good. I had a problem with my dish and the staff promptly changed to another of my choice. We were really surprised by the cocktails as well, we had the Thai Affair and the double chocolate and both were excellent. Staff deserves a 5 and food deserves a 3
2.5 so 3.5 sounds fair to me.
It was my first time eating at Phat Elephants with my family. As we entered the restaurant, staffs were welcoming (love seeing staffs with a smile) After being seated for not long we began exploring their menu. Many of the dishes sound/looked appetizing but we knew we wouldn't be able to finish everything, so we had to narrow down the list. We ordered a couple of dishes and drinks as well, unfortunately, I can't remember what the name of the dishes were, but hopefully the photos I have uploaded gives some idea :) Overall, I had an enjoyable experience - the food was tasty!!
The food here was so tasty, and great value - we had the prawn dumplings and chicken satay for entree and I had the mussaman + rice for main, along with a watermelon frappe (plenty of non-alcoholic drink options - always a bonus). Lovely ambience, staff were nice and the menu is massive.
Outstanding grilled squid! First night in Brisbane and wanted somewhere close to my hotel. What a great find! Lovely sitting outside. Speedy service with their push button technology. Lovely glass of wine to go with fish cakes and fresh salad. But it was the grilled calamari at such a good price that I have to brag about again! Thanks for a beautiful Monday night meal.
Located in Post Office Square, my work colleagues and I came here for dinner. What awaited was a feast of food that was abundant and totally delicious! The service was amazing and nothing too much for them. They even have a handy buzzer on the table in case you need them which avoids having to wave them down anytime you need them (more restaurants need this feature!).
We tried quite a few dishes and the favourite of the table included the BBQ Pork Skewers which were tender and lovely, Green Chicken Curry was not too hot and lots of curry sauce for the rice to soak into, Red Duck Curry which had a delicious flavour and nice pieces of duck throughout the curry, Crispy Pork & Sweet Basil had crunch pieces of moreish pork. I really enjoyed the Bamboo Steamed Sticky Rice in individual baskets, and the Pandan & Coconut Chiffon Cake had slivers of coconut strewn throughout the layers of cake within the cream.

I have been here numerous times with family and friends and the food here is always consistent- it's our go to place for thai food in the city! I highly recommend their green curry, red duck curry, pineapple fried rice and the Thai milk tea! Extensive menu, good location and cosy atmosphere. Service can be a little busy and slow at times.

My new favourite Thai restaurant! This gorgeous funky restaurant promptly serves up delicious Thai food at affordable prices. My favourite dishes were the prawn pad Thai, the fried rice and duck red curry paired with the delicious Thai milk tea! I'll definitely return back for more. If you have a Thai friend, it's 5% off!
We had prawn cakes, bbq pork shoulder, green chicken curry and papaya salad. The bbq pork was especially yummy. Green curry, on its mildest, had a little kick of chilli. Papaya salad was fresh and certainly more spicy than the curry. We enjoyed the dinner and would not hesitate to go back to try other dishes.

What a great little joint! With such a funky name you just can't go past without giving it a go. I have had this place on my radar for a number of month now and finally got to see what it's like on Friday. Being half Thai I get a little critical of Thai restaurants but this one is definitely worth a crack. It has such an authentic feel, I think my favourite aspect was not the walls decorated with authentic Thai food products (the sauces and coconut milk my mum uses in her own restaurant) but what gets me excited are the chefs, typically Thai, loud and full of energy, wanting to make sure every dish is perfect before it's served. Such an amazing atmosphere! Now to the food. Entrees were spot on! I always look out for more traditional Thai food and this place is very I-Sarn based meaning the style is more southern. Love love love the pork sausages, the chicken pieces are also yummy as well! Fish cakes are very similar to other places but still delicious. I would certainly recommend doing entrees here, I would even go so far as to say do a Thai tapas style dinner here.
The mains were ok, I much prefer the style where the rice is served separately and everyone shares meals (some are done like this not all meals). The Beef Cheek Massaman curry I had wasn't really what I was expecting and I felt that it lacked meat, it was very broken down and a presented with minimum creativity. The Garlic Fish was nice, but maybe this needed a little sauce or something to just balance it out and not make it so dry.
I would definitely go back to this place, they do put effort into their restaurant presentation and the staff are just lovely. Entrees are good to go, mains provide some different more traditional options. Thanks for a lovely night!

Excellent food, service could be better. We came for dinner here on a Friday night with a large group of people. The service was actually quite quick and meals were fantastic. However, towards the end of the night random meals kept coming out and a few rice sides were missed. Also, they don't have split bills, which is kind of a pain with such a big group of people.
A nice place for Thai in the CBD. The medium papaya salad was spicy. The duck curry was good but could have had a bit more of a kick to it. The lamb shank was disappointing as it was tough. I would come back to try other dishes.
Just stopped by for a quick lunch. One of the staff got us to a table pretty quick, then brought the menus and a jug of water. The open kitchen made it a vibrant environment. Decided to go for Isan Style food-papaya salad and grilled Thai pork sausages. The food wait wasn't long at all and the food presentations were lovely. The taste of the food was acceptable; not the best nor the worst. Loved the fact that the place looked nice and clean. The prices and portions were reasonable. The menu was presentable.

My wife and I had lunch here during the week. We ordered fish cakes for entrée, then I ordered the Thai Fried rice and my wife ordered the Chicken Laab (Larb).
The fish cakes were light and tasty, not rubbery and the dipping sauce was robust with nice complex notes. The Laab was spicy (but not fatal) and fragrant, with plenty of chicken and a nice side salad. I was pleasantly surprised with the Thai style fried rice, it was rich, tasty and spicy. A real treat. It's nice to be served Thai food that actually has some kick! I imagine that the food isn't as spicy as a hardened Thai food eater would like, but definitely above the average. The serves are generous and prices very reasonable (our mains were around $15).
There are heaps of options on the menu and if our first visit is anything to go by, all of them will be great!
The kitchen appears to be well run and precise. The atmosphere is busy and noisy, so great for lunch or dinner with friends, but I wouldn't recommend the place for a romantic meal or a business meeting. We were sitting inside near the kitchen which probably added to the noise. If you're sitting out the front, I suspect it would be quieter.
Our food service was prompt but there seemed to be a bit of uncertainty with some of the staff. I noted there were a couple of misses with getting the right food to the right table, but we didn't have any issues.
We'd definitely recommend Phat Elephant for a tasty meal and beverage for lunch or dinner!
Food was great - tasteful and spicy, BUT we were pretty much the only people there, and still they didn't manage to get our food out at the same time. My starter was the last to come out. Could have been because the chef blatantly was playing pokemon go..
Thai restaurant Phat Elephant is arguably the best addition to Brisbane city’s Asian cuisine since New Shanghai. Unlike many of its neighbouring restaurants in Post Office Square, Phat Elephant is open 7 days #hellyeah. With good Thai food near non-existent in the heart of Brisbane, Phat Elephant has cleverly filled a gap in the CBD’s dining scene and our tummies.
What a good way to spend my birthday at this restaurant with my sister and friends. I have to compliment the staff who were so easy to talk to as my sister asked if we could have balloons and store-bought cake from outside brought in. They gladly kept if for us and there wasn't even a cakeage fee. The red duck curry was absolutely delicious and the food in general was reasonably priced. Pad-thai was full of flavor as well and had a very nice texture. Ambiance was great and our table had a nice view of Adelaide Street.
After seeing this place is the city on social media we happened to find ourselves there today (Saturday) needing some tasty eats.
Happy hour all Saturday and Sunday drew us away from from the Gresham a round earlier than anticipated. Pretty quiet and service attentive, friendly.
Although hoping the food to be good we probably weren't so expecting to be the food to be amazing except it was! Good portion last, great flavours just really tasty Thai food. Will definitely be back here in the future.
Phat Elephant is the newest Thai eatery and bar, located in the corner of Post Office Square where Hatch & Co used to be. I was in town for a staycation recently and eagerly wanted to try it out. The menu focuses on Thai street food, and true to their word, the dishes here are affordable and authentic.
