Review Siam Sensations - Brisbane

Rich A
The best Thai food we've had in Brisbane. We enjoyed the Phuket style Fried Rice, Pad See Ew and a Red Curry. The Pad See Ew had that proper wok charred flavour to it and the ingredients in all dishes were fresh and of high quality. You can really tell that the chef takes pride in their cooking. Lychee iced tea was also really nice and refreshing. We'll be back!

I've been a customer for the last ten years because it was good Thai. But it's now not what it used to be. The red beef curry was tasty, but the cheap chewy beef and sparce ingredients overshadowed the flavour. Portion sizes are also visibly decreasing, even the size of the spring rolls. I'm happy to pay more for quality as their prices are not that high.

Top quality food each and every time. In the 6 years i have been going here not once has anything been less than amazing. Their consistency is stellar. Best of all is their wonderful staff who are the best.

Really great Thai food. I had the ginger fish and the rest of my party ordered Pad Thai and the beef stir fry. Really fresh and tasty. Good service and great value for money would highly recommend.

Food is bloody great! You won’t be let down if you’re looking for quality Thai. Would have given 5 stars but the portion sizes have decreased and staff are not super friendly. But food is great and it’s byo. Fantastic local spot.

When I used to live around here like a few years ago and the main thing that i remember about this place is that they have really good Pad Thai and is probably the best dish they have and that was one of the fondest memories I have there. Please eat here trust me its good. (Also the staff was very friendly too)
Tracy Fogarty
Delicious food, best Thai I've had, I don't know how they cook the seafood to be so tender and flavoursome every time. The staff are so very friendly and helpful too (and it's dog friendly outside).

Tiny local Thai restaurant. Service was quick we were immediately ushered to our table but was advised by the waitress’s that food may take sometime to be serve due to full house . We started off with money bag and mixed entree for starter. The money bag was delicious and crunchy. The mixed entree was a good sized serving packed of flavours. For main we had Red duck curry and Pork Prik Khing. They are both delicious. However, the Pork Prik Khing was a better dish compared to the Red Duck Curry. Staff are very attentive. Overall the food and service was exceptional. 🎊🎊🎊

Absolutley awesome place. Love what they do and how they do it with such awesome customer service. The people are amazing with facilities to match. Would highly recommend for familys, couples or just by yourself

Thai food is my next cravings following Vietnamese food. While Viet food is more simple and clean, Thai is usually filled with punchier flavour and more on the spicy side, which is what I crave for at times. Following our visit to Nundah Corner, we realised that this restaurant is fully pack with patrons sitting outside the restaurant! I told Mr that we had to give it a go next visit and we did.

Always a good choice for Thai in the area. I would say the flavours are more subtle than bold. More for the Aussie palate some may say but have been here a few times and it’s super consistent. As expected at Thai restaurants the service is super friendly and welcoming also.

Wow this place have changed a too. In addition to good food, they have very cool interior and friendly customer service. Lunch options are awesome.

Siam Sensations has been a long time favourite of ours. Usually providing outstanding flavour with good service, this restaurant is frequented heavily in Nundah by locals and visitors alike.

Last night was not as great as usual, but was still a good experience. We ordered the Pak Td (Tempura Vegetable) for an entree, and was too excited and hungry for pictures! The flavours were spot on, with the vegies crisp and fresh on the inside.

Our mains were Pad Thai, and (supposed to be Pad Prik Khing but unfortunately some wires were crossed) Pad Khing. I queried with the waitress if the dish I had was Pad Prik Khing, she advised it was Pad Khing and apologized for the mix up. Not one to waste food, I kept the meal. This wasn't a massive crisis to me but it may be for others.

The Pad Thai was delicious, perfect temperature with a good mix of vegies. The flavour was there and the dish did not disappoint. My Pad Khing was tasty, nothing to wow me but I did enjoy it and would order it again if I felt like a subtly flavoured stir fry dish.

It was a shame, as I have had the Pad Prik Khing before and it is a stand out.

The restaurant was able to accommodate our dietary requests of no egg and fish sauce in the dishes. Yay for Vegan food!

The service for the evening was ok but slow at times. As it was mid week, I think they did not have as many staff on as peak times.

All in all a pleasant visit.

Without sounding too cynical, your standard run-of-the-mill Thai restaurants really created to serve the Thai favourites to Westerners. Pad Thai, Green Chicken Curry etc etc etc. It was there and I was too lazy to cook so I had Tom Yum which was surprisingly quite good.

Like most Thai in Brisbane, terribly overpriced for what it is.

Service is terrible and food is not special.
How they got overscored is it's only one thai restaurant in Nundah.
I wont recommend here anybody.
Udaykarkis
One of the best Thai restaurant in Brisbane. Awesome food and tasty. Best one for vegetarians - the dishes they prepare don't smell meat at all - not even egg. We usually have vegetarian dishes in here and patron from last 4 years as we remember. Love the food - keep up the good work !!
Flavietta
Right in the middle of Nundah village provides a great lunch option.
Clean, simple decor.
Good food, fresh, tasty and service is quite quick.
Air con in summer and warm in winter.
This is a local restaurant definitely worth supporting.
As usual with Asian food, great value for money!

Honestly i did not enjoy this thai restaurant, my mother in law is thai so we eat a lot of thai and i like to check out restaurants regularly. Firstly the staff were incredibly rude, they were so cold and didn't smile at me once. I love going to thai restaurants for the atmosphere they have such a lovely culture it's so warm and vibrant! But not this restaurant i always say thank you in thai 'kawpkoon ka' and they get very excited and all yell it out together but they didn't even look at me or say anything i felt embarrassed! Anyways back to it, once seated they only gave my partner and me one cup for water i just left it i dont mind sharing, we waited 45 mins for entree then another 15 for mains... the food was nice definitely not the best.. by this time we still didn't get our drinks, I asked and they forgot. I will not go back here again, rude staff and an unwelcoming atmosphere it made me feel like it was an effort to serve me... if you want better food with a great traditional atmosphere and staff, try siam samrarn at west end!

Without a doubt the best Thai I've had in Brisbane. So much flavour packed into their dishes! Take away rice is small, wish they were bigger but that's the only negative I have. Staff have always been really lovely but if the staff aren't pleasant enough then maybe takeaway is a good option.. Good food is more important!

Was very disappointed.. The calamari for entree was over cooked, the crispy chicken on the satay stir fry was very dry & tasteless, the peanut satay sauce was watery, the roast duck was cooked properly but the crispy skin on the roast duck was not crispy & instead was soft.
Mitchell.kingston
The best thai place in Nundah and surrounding suburbs, it's quick service, has a lot of variety on the menu. The entries are are good, especially the money bags and spring rolls. The Thai Green Curry never disappoints.

You know those nights when you just don't want to cook, and want to get takeaway food and eat it whilst watching the Bachie? Yeah we had one of those nights last night and we decided to get this after reading the amazing reviews on Zomato. Yup we weren't disappointed. Satay chicken was amazing, and the curry was super, the flavour was so good, and the taste was authentic. Who doesn't like authentic thai?!

After two days of moving and having no energy to cook and being new to the area we decided to make our way to nundah's little strip of restaurants . We had been craving great Thai food that was reasonably priced . So we decided to try Siam sensations . We ordered a Mussaman curry and a Panang curry with coconut rice and they where both fantastic dishes and the rice was out of this world , one of the great things is we could have as much rice as we wanted . Food was great , price was great , and the service was fine . We will definitely be returning .

Yes! Great Thai food on this side of town. Living in Chermside for the last two years I have tried a number of Thai places that just miss the mark in one way or another. Siam Sensations is a definite winner and worth driving past all the other closer Thai restaurants for it. We had the yellow chicken curry, beef massaman, coconut rice and some entrees - all were spot on and delicious - we will be back.
Fionakay
Nundah is lucky to have arguably the best Thai on the northside! Great menu with classic Thai dishes, but I can't go past their chicken pad thai! Delicious.
Steph
Authentic Thai and amazing food. Staff are very job orientated and not overly friendly, but food is fantastic. Full of flavour and having been to Thailand, tastes very very much like the real thing.

Gluten unfriendly and dangerous. Last Saturday we ordered a large order of Thai food for 8 people, one of which for a coeliac teenage boy. We were very specific that it had to be gluten free. That boy has been off school for the last week. We have been over everything he ate on the weekend and the only question mark is the Thai takeaway. As much as I love their food, this is dangerous. If they say they can do gluten free food, then they should be very careful about cross contamination. This is not a voluntary diet decision. This is a health issue.

Siam Sensations was a little disappointing for us. It's average tasting Thai, not great, not bad, so if you can handle that you'll enjoy it.
We had the beef massaman which wasn't the normal slow cooked, fall apart beef. Taste was reasonable but not flavorsome. We also had Penang Chicken which is hard to get wrong. This was the favorite out of the two.
We only came here because of the rain, but if you're in the area - go to Princess Thai in Clayfield - it's a far superior taste!

Takeaway order. Excellent quality, spring rolls are always a favourite, the pad Thai can't disappoint. Tom Yum Gai is a delightful soup!

Food really is sensational!. We had takeaway last night and it was delicious. For entrees we had moneybags (to die for!), Keow Tod (little fried egg pastries filled with minced chicken) and coconut prawns, All excellent. Then Pad Kapow (Chicken and basil) which was a bit spicy but not too much. The chicken was very tender! Also a red curry with prawns which was mild spiced, and a Massaman curry with beef. We also ordered coconut rice. This was our first time at this restaurant and we can't praise it enough! We'll definitely be going back.

7/10. Im new to the area and trying new places and loved this joint!! Great food, not the best staff but the food makes up for it all. Definately better than other restaurants nearby. Great!

Very Disappointed. Made a booking for this restaurant 3 days before saturday night. We arrived very excited to be celebrating my birthday. But soon the smile was wiped off our faces. They had no booking and could not explain why this had happened. They didn't seem to care and offered no explanation. No apology was forthcoming and didn't even smile or try to find us a table. JUST STATED WE ARE FULLY BOOKED. When I said this is very disappointing and we were looking forward to a meal here they just shrugged their shoulders. I have never been treated like this in a restaurant in my life before and would never attempt to go there again.

The food was absolutely amazing and cooked perfectly. The value for money was brilliant. They were extremely understaffed, pretty disorganised and not overly friendly. Still would go back as good was great!
Chips
Good but very unreliable. Good food but extremely unreliable take forever to answer the phone, closed at random times with no reason or phone msg, would love to keep comming back but get very annoyed surveying the family deciding what to get only to find they are closed.

Friendly and helpful for a busy restaurant. We have a toddler and the staff were so friendly and helpful, making our meal so enjoyable. They had the usual high-chair but also had cute toddler spoon, fork, plate and cup which was so fun. My little one is very social and the staff were very engaging which made us feel really welcome. The food was very yummy and reasonably priced. I highly recommend Siam Sensation.

Great Food. Decided to try Siam Sensations based on positive reviews from other diners. We ordered Take-away Satay chicken Skewers, Beef Thai Red Curry and Pad Thai - the food was yummy and my husband commented that the Pad Thai was one of the best he had tried so far. Prices were reasonable. Will definately be back.

Oustanding. Beautiful Thai food. Great value for money as well. I would come all the way from sunnybank to this place again. Service is fast. I would say though that the default taste here is slightly sweet, even their curries. If you're looking for a more authentic Thai taste then ask for more spice when you order.
Leebob
It's great food. We return regularly and get takeaway often. Only comment to owners is that beef is often tough. We don't order it anymore - but everything else absolutely delicious. Consider purchasing a better cut if beef and we'll be back even more!
Sienna
This is the best Thai Food.... Very tasty and so fresh.... Outstanding food and service
Jo
Easily my favourite Thai restaurant. I particularly love their chicken pad thai!
Baanstey
Best Thai on the Northside. I am never disappointed by Siam Sensations. The fish cakes are the best I have ever had. I could happily eat nothing else. The curries are great. I can't fault the food. Highly recommend.
Spanna
We dined there tonight & had the banquet. Was delicious. We will definitely be going back, found our local new Thai restaurant
Prue Darrouzet
This place was SOO delicious!! Came from Aspley to get it and it was the best!
Brandt Smith
Utterly amazing! Service was exceptional, the food was out incredibly quickly and was delicious! Portions are very generous!!
Boban Arezina-Ilic
Fantastic Thai for a Great Price. I frequent this thai restaurant for tasty curry puffs, spring rolls, thai fried frice and yellow chicken curry. Have recommended friends and family here for the consistently great thai food. Make sure you book on Friday or Saturday night, because you won't find a table free!
IllTryAnythingOnce
This is a great suburban restaurant with food to rival any higher-end Thai restaurant! The inside is what you would expect, with not a whole lot of atmosphere, but we usually get takeaway and enjoy the fresh flavours at home. Absolutely reasonably priced and tasty without that greasy after feeling you sometimes get with Asian food. The chilli beef is amazing. Ill be back!
Fingersmcginty
Pretty good. Can't fault the food but the portion size could be bigger.
Holly
This is our regular, always have amazing food here. Best thai I've ever had.
Hendos
Great, if you know how to order.... We enjoyed eating here except there was a lack of Thai spice in all the dishes. They cook to the Aussie taste, being, no spice is used in the dishes unless you ask for it. I guess that's reasonable as most Aussie people can't take the heat in the same way a Thai can.
The Tom Yum soup was the exception here for taste. It's far from authentic and was more like a tomato soup than a Tom Yum.
Talksalot
Delicious. This is one of the best Thai restaurants I have eaten at in Australia. My husband and I went on a Thursday night and were lucky enough to get a table, it was super busy.

Although the service was a little slow, it's certainly worth the wait. We had the coconut prawns and Thai fish cakes for entree and Fried Rice and one of the Chicken Salads for main. All very tasty the Fried Rice was as good as from a street stall in Bangkok.

Will definitely be back to enjoy this great restaurant.
Mizanthrop
It doesn't matter how far you have to travel to get to Siam Sensations, order a soup and it will be worth it.
MissyM
Yes, it is true the food is superb! Best Thai I have eaten for a long time! The deep fried fish dish had a lovely flavour but the fish was dry and overlooked. Service could be improved - especially at the register!!
Madeleine W
I'm baffled as to how any other thai place around Siam Sensations stays in business, they are by far the best place to go. I'm not exaggerating when i say it takes some heavy convincing to get me to eat thai anywhere else.
Steven Roy
Fantastic Thai. There are a few Thai restaurants in the area, but this is (by far) the best.
Food is consistently good.
Jophus
One word. Delicious.
HungryRoger
Been there twice this week for lunch and im really happy. I lost my love of thai after eating at bad restaurants but now its back. Thanks siam sensations. The lunch menu is great value 9.90 I plan to try everything on the menu will eat there whenever i can.

Favourite place to eat. It's always busy because the food is delicious. Tried many things on the menu and never disappoints.
Leethal
Sensational and nothing less! Best Tom Yum I've tasted outside of Thailand.
Bec Mullen
YUM YUM!. We tried this place for the first time tonight having just moved to the area. I'm always skeptical of reviews as feedback really is subjective to the person's standards. I have to say all these reviews are right, this place has very nice flavours & the quality of both meat & veg is very fresh. We are happy this is our new local Thai place !!
Suni
Strange. Ate here on wednesday night very long wait for food but they were not busy 25 minutes for entrees 1 hour for mains disapponinting night and i do not think the quality was good maybe cause problems with orders and oily. read the reviews and gave it a go beforer catching my flight to singapore . the airaplane food was better. been to both thai shops in Nundah up the road not as busy on week days but great value and quality still chad thai my best choice
Daniel Spiteri
Absolutely love this place! If you are lucky enough to get a table, you're in for a treat! The service is wonderful and food arrives quite soon after ordering.

Presentation is great, flavor is amazing. each dish is so unique unlike some Thai restaurants whose dishes all taste the similar. Prices are extremely great value for money. Have never been disappointed.
Mark
Great Food, Great Service. This is one of our favourite Thai places in Brisbane. Everytime we go there they are busy which is really good sign. The meals taste great and they alway come out looking and tasting great, we're slowly working our way through the menu, I think once we reach the end we'll start from the top again.
Marie-Louise Burness
LOVE their Pad Thai. Tried the fish cakes last night for the first time and YUUUUUUUUM! They had a tofu texture. Can't wait to get some more. Want to try the Thai Beef Salad next.
Peter
Very poor quality food long wait poor service but cheap oily food

Top 2 Thai In Brisbane. Really like this place. One of my favourite Asian restaurants. The food is not too heavy, which some Thai places can be, yet it is still full of flavour. I have tried Massaman, Yellow Curry, Green Curry & Thai Beef Salad, they have all been EXCELLENT! Beware of 1 thing and 1 thing only if trying this for the first time- there is another Thai restaurant 150m up the road with a similar name, I think 'Siam Dragon' (although I could be wrong)... Look for the one opposite the Royal English Hotel, NOT opposite the Prices Of Wales Hotel.
LovesToEat
Thai it. Omg, best Thai in Brisbane, i promise. Have eaten at lots of Thai places, but Siam Sensations always takes the cake. Beautiful and flavoursome curries and stir fries, fluffy and delicious coconut rice. Have eaten here many times and have never had a bad meal. Panang fish is amazing!!
David L
Yum!!. Just had a yellow curry with beef and a tom yum soup!! So delicious the best Thai on the northside of brisbane. Not sure if i would believe too many of the other reviews written by people who are involved with the competion up the road. Ive had dinner at the other thai places in nundah and they dont even come close.
B.
Have eaten at both Thai restaurants on this strip and have had good and bad experiences, along with any restaurants I have ever eaten at. What I have noticed is that the really bad reviews are done with poor attention to English gramma, so poor that some one fluent in English would notice these mistakes and correct them. When reading these reviews its like I'm talking to the international students at UNI. Can't help but wonder if maybe the "competition" hasn't put these bad reviews up them selves....... Maybe try the restaurant your self before completely writing it off
Pete
I eat out alot and travel. Wow what can I say about this restaurant . we dine out with frineds on friday night we were a large table we requested in side but were put out side in the cold. we waited 25 minutes to get our entrees lucky we had good company. they were not busy so we thought strange it takes so long. our main came out 35 -40 minutes after our entrees the portions were so small I thought we must be in a 5 course restaurant . I did not even recieve my meal till 20 minutes after as I am wheat intolarant . but still a very long wait. the meqals were ok nothing special but very oily I saw the chef put his head out to see what happing . he noit look happy and body laugage poor . . our meals went cold very quickly as we in the cold they tried to keep us warm by using heats but that was a futile option. deserts were nice the best part of the night ws paying and us leaving . belive me for all the good comments people give the place they must be at a different restaurant .
not much takeaway trade i noticed so they must live on the dine in . I would say good for summer but bad in winter .
the noise from the hotel does npot help there cause but then again it been there for about 100 years.
might try simply duo next looked inviting and the smell was devine as we got back to our car.
I think I will stick with our regular thai resturant bow thai in the valley.
Like the new look of nundah it good to see changes just hope this Siam sensations changes or the will be broke . there currys are to thin . the pad thai chicken to small chicken mussman nice but they shpould stick to traditional chunky beef mussman . the big thing they need is a whole fish dish like barra or trout and pupa salad .I been to thailand many time but this restaurant is westernised to much start again guys new menu . just cause it cheap does not mean it good I give in 2 thumbs down
Mariska
Takeaway or dine-in, the meals are tasty, very fresh and very moderately priced. The service is polite and efficient. This is one of our favourite places in Brisbane and certainly has the best take away meals.
Simon Stubbs
Fantastic, definately the best Thai food I've had since Thailand.
Natalie
Delicious, cheerful and very reasonably priced! Yum!!!
Suzanne
Another great meal. Got takeaway the other night &, once again, delicious! Love this place.

-----08 May, 2012-----

Best thai food in Brisbane. This place never disappoints. The corn cakes are so good & the Duck Kapow will knock your socks off. Yet to have a bad meal here.
Beersy
What more can you say....??? Read the reviews!!!. This place never disappoints. Have had take out three times over the past 6 months, and each time we try something different from their menu. What is not different each time is just how good the food is, absolutely spot on, every time. You can bet the house on it.

Try the roast duck and their stirfry vegetables with just a hint of ginger, they are sensational!
Melikins
Tasty!. Really tasty! I get takeaway from here regularly, and each meal is delicious. I think they're let down by not having dessert items though.
Taloula
Food was Thai riffic!! Would go back in a heartbeat.
J.a.
Thai best buy!. Little charming and delicious, food is great, good prices and quick service. Bookings are recommended. The best thing is that it's just next door.
Anne Dangerfield
Great Thai in Nundah!. Excellent Thai food! This is the best Thai on the Northside. I have only ever had take away and it is still delish. I would like to dine in and see if it can get any better, not that I think it can.
Tim
Nothing new here. Pretty average suburban Thai. The food is good but not particularly exciting. Disappointed they don't have som tam. Thai restaurants in Brisbane don't ever seem to have it on the menu. The curries are all good and prices are reasonable.
Karen Marie
Fantastic. Possibly the best Thai in brisbane, cheap, authentic and the service is always friendly and efficient. Have probably eaten there 8-10 times, not been let down once.
A great addition to the Nundah strip.
Yum
Great food and a reasonable price. Nice to see something other than pizza or pub food in Nundah.
