Review Elio's Osteria - Brisbane

Alexander Nuutinen
We hadn't been back to Eliot's in a while. That was a mistake. The pizzas we got blew us away: The barbeque sauce had some sweetness to it, the crust was crispy, and we absolutely got what we paid for in terms of portion sizes. Throw in some uncommon pizzas like duck or pumpkin and you've got a really good night in. If you're lucky enough to own a pizza stone at home, it all reheats just as good the next day. The cheesy garlic bread also turned out to be a cheese and garlic calzone with plenty of cheese We'll be back again soon - It's worth the extra driving distance.

We've ordered pizzas, as I've seen so many positive reviews. Unfortunately, for me, this is not Italian pizza. The dough is good, however the amount of toppings is too much and too heavy. Feels a bit like I'm eating a separate meal plus base. The size is ok, could be bigger, but you will feel full anyway, because of all the stuff on the pizza.

Incredible restaurant! We came here on a very dark, wet evening and it was the perfect little sanctuary. Friendly, attentive service and delicious food. The decor is warm and inviting with a traditional Italian feel. So glad I discovered this place and I'm already eager to return!

Very cozy outdoor dining area, and the food is mouth-watering. This is real Italian, we skipped the pizza and always go for Real Food - the mains. This place has Authentic Italian meals. Very friendly staff as well. They're all nice

Having been to Elio’s before we were excited to go back again! Sadly we were a bit disappointed. We were seated right by the door in a very awkward table, seemed a bit like the kids table, uncomfortable red plastic chairs unlike other tables that had lovely cushioned wooden chairs. Where we were seated it felt like the waitress that stood by the kitchen was just staring at us the whole meal. We felt slightly invisible by other staff especially the main guy who was greeting everyone and we heard him say I need to go to that table and greet the customers (not us). The nicest staff member was then girl who took our payment at the end. Yes we could have asked to be moved but I don’t like to be that person and it was very busy. We made our reservation at least a week out. The food was okay but the spaghetti marinara was over sauced as well as the ravioli with pumpkin, the sauce seemed watered down and tasted very sugary. Disappointed all in all as we have had great experiences at this restaurant in the past.

Absolutely delicious! 😋 Fast and friendly service. The only downfall is they don't have the liquor licence yet. Will be much better with negronis and wine. 🍷 Can't wait!

Elio's is THE BEST pizza and pasta in Brisbane. Hands down. The meals, service, price, and speed are always perfect regardless of whether you eat-in or get take away. Is obvious that the kitchen staff are genuinely passionate about their jobs. It shows in every meal.

Delicious food as usual. Exceptional service. Would definitely recommend.

Been a stable in the area for decades! Love the cheese calzone ....

Great place to be if you like below average Italian food and service that feels like the waiter is doing your a favour by serving you. Really, not in a humorous "rude Italian waiter" type way. If there are Italian people in the kitchen I'd be surprised because they would have too much pride to serve such poor quality food. Don't waste your precious time and money.

Was a last minute decision, a good one. The food was very good, enjoyed the garlic bread with cheese as entre, and the pizza and blue cheese gnocchi were excellent. The staff very friendly and responsive. Enjoyed the evening, and will be back again.

Elio’s is our go to Italian place. We haven’t lived near Elio’s for years and we still travel here quite regularly. I always get the fettuccine chicken pesto pasta and it is always delicious - the serving is also very generous, I’ve always got enough for a full meal the next day. My partner orders the (I may get the spelling of this wrong...) Quatra Carne Calzone and it is his favourite dish at any restaurant ever. They also cater for my partners dietary needs when we order our shared starter). 5 stars every time Elio’s.

I found the pizza very oily, my hands were covered in oil whilst eating it. The pizza tasted ok but it didn’t blow me away, I think the amount of oil was a bit overpowering. I probably wouldn’t go back here.

My friend who lives in the area told me this place is always busy no matter which day of the week she drives pass. So we had to came to try it out. It was a weeknight and the place was pretty busy. Not off to a good start, they couldn't find our booking, but they had a table spare outside, we took it but not ideal as we specifically booked for an inside table as 1 of my friend is pregnant & wanted to stay cool inside. Then they could only give us 1 menu between the 3 of us, because they ran out of menu! Luckily things got better with the food. We all just got a main, my friends both enjoyed their, spaghetti agnello with the lamb, and bistecca con aglio (the scotch fillet). I had the mussels seafood pot, decent size serving. The sauce was thick & chunky, the pot it was served in really small pot, bit awkward to eat, but taste ok. Dessert though was the highlight, the tiramisu was light, both with fluffy sponge & light cream, yet full of flavour. Nice way to finish the meal.

Always amazing. Friendly staff, great food, very affordable, lovely decorations and location and always have incredible deals on offer. Would definitely recommend!

Absolutely love this place so much! The Monday night special simply can't be beaten. <br/>Food is amazing, especially those Mac n cheese balls!! Service is great and I will continue to keep coming back!

Went there on a Monday for the 2 for $50 deal and it was so good! Very quaint setup and lovely ambiance. Lovely bread platters and great range of pastas!

Visited Elio's last night being a friday Night, was busy and there was a mistake with my order and was made non vegetarian as they must have just heard me wrong, staff members fixed this problem immediately replacing my meal and bringing the correct one with very little wait time! Overall great experience and food and would return!

Terrible margherita pizza.<br/><br/>Undercooked, thick base.<br/>No fresh tomato, no fresh herbs.<br/>Does not look appealing at all.<br/>Should be fresh, simple and delicious.

Just had my 30th here, staff were fantastic and the food was amazing. Everyone raved about there meals and my baked percuito risotto was amazing. Byo with no corkage and no cakage was icing in the cake. We will be back very soon, highly recomended.

Management must have changed because the food was earthy, fresh, superbly cooked and wonderfully Italian. Now it is bland, precooked and microwaved. Where is the garlic and olive oil????<br/>The pizzas were so wonderful and now I think they use pre-made bases and i am sure they are microwaved. They make McCains look good.<br/>I would love to know where the original owners went to. Man they made great food and treated the customers with respect, like family.
Ross Alexander
Went there last night for a birthday celebration with my family. Staff were friendly and attentive, service was good, place was very busy so lot of pressure on staff. Food was excellent except for one dish of gnocchi with bolognese sauce. My marinated lamb salad was delicious and huge, other impressive dishes included a creamy sauce on vegetable ravioli, an Italian pizza and penne with mastriciana sauce. The entree of cheese and garlic calzone was superb and the desserts were ideal. Servings were large despite only ordering regular sized dishes. Thoroughly recommended after first visit.<br/>Prices represent value for money. Don't let price influence your decision to NOT try this great eatery.<br/>😄😄😄😄😄🎉🎉🎉🎉🍾<br/>

Ordered takeaway pizza 2 times and was tasteless undercooked both times $26 each you expect them to be pretty dam amazing! Gustos at carindale have our business

Heard about the couples deal from a friend which sounded real good value for money so we decided to check it out.<br/><br/>Got seated down fairly quickly as we had a booking, at this stage the restaurant was about 75% full. <br/><br/>Once seated, we did not get asked for water but had to wave someone down for about 3mins before we could ask. This was pretty much the only downside of our experience here.<br/><br/>Entree we had the mozzarella cheese bread to share. Nice and crispy and a lot larger then expected. <br/><br/>Mains we both had pasta and both were nicely flavoured. The entree sizes were more then enough so unless you'd a real big eater, stick to entree size.<br/><br/>Dessert was Nutella calzone and sorbet, both very nice but was too full by this point.<br/><br/>Defiantly will be returning to try other pasta dishes.

Went here last night, as usual the food was good home styled cooking. I had the spicy pasta special which was great, Mrs had the garlic prawn / mussels and thought the pasta quantity was a bit meagre but all yeah none the less. Staff are great with kids, gave them some colouring straight away and kept their food coming quicker than the adults which is greatly appreciated.

I came on a Monday night and ordered their couples deal. Such good food for such good value. You can't beat it. Their blue cheese risotto is the best! Haven't been able to find another place that does the same or even remotely as good. Didn't even have stomach space for dessert but managed to fit in a delightful Italian hot chocolate. Very highly recommend guys :)
Jessica
Wasn't fantastic, but just ok. We had dips, blue cheese gnocchi and pork scallopini. Dips were the same as you would get anywhere. A great serving of bread. Good tapenade. Blue cheese gnocchi in an entrée size was simply too much. The only ingredients was potatoes and cheese. I felt another element needed to be added to break it up. The pork was a decent serving and overall generally nice. Pasta was cooked well. Food was too expensive for what it was. <br/>The magician was great!
Amy
Service is impeccable. Food tastes the way good Italian should. They have a great traditional menu and their specials have some unique touches (without being pretentious). The Agnello (lamb with kalamata olives) is divine!<br/><br/>Kids menu is tasty and great value (and if you're cheeky like me they'll let you swap out soft drinks for milk - always a plus!).<br/><br/>We ate there again just last night and our waiter made an honest mistake on our order (which inconvenienced us for 2 minutes tops!). The header waiter (manager/owner? not sure) was quick as a flash offering apologies and the mixed up dish for free. We tried to decline the offer (it really wasn't a bother) but he insisted. So we just tipped well instead! :)<br/><br/>I can't recommend this place enough for great food, good wine selection, relaxed atmosphere, well priced, nom nom noms (with free and easy parking - no battling the busy restaurant hub areas!).<br/><br/>Bellissimo!

We go to Elios because of the ambience. the staff and the value in that order. Granted, we mainly go on a Monday which is in my opinion the best couple's deal in Australia, (big call I know), but the majority of their menu, which is quite large really, comes out piping hot and flavoursome.<br/><br/>The "Wog" pizza is one example, and their Calzone as a starter is another. They have a reasonable beer list and a few value wines to choose from as well. It is also BYO. A great range of seafood based pastas which if I can sneak one past the partner, are really nice options.<br/><br/>But I love this place and will always return because I feel relaxed and always welcomed. There is a great buzz in the air when they are busy, with the floor managers, waiters and the kitchen crew all working under pressure and with smiles. <br/><br/>I wish there were more restaurants like this.

Went there last night for pizza and found it to be highly disappointing. The pizza's we ordered were dry and bland and are ridiculously overpriced for the quality. The older staff (who I assume are the owners) were lovely but one younger female staff member was not welcoming or polite and gave us attitude when we enquired about our pizza price on the bill. Will not be going back anytime soon.

Perfect Birthday Dinner. Booked at 4pm on Saturday for that night, and very glad I could get a table as they were fully booked when we arrived. Our group of seven ordered a variety of dishes from the main menu, pizza and children's menu. Everyone loved their choice, and the service was exceptional. They even provided colouring in for my 4 year old nephew, and brought out the birthday cake with sparklers and the staff member singing Happy Birthday. I should have got her name. She was lovely, as was every staff member we encountered. Thanks for a memorable night! I'll be back.

Love it!. I came to Elios with a large group of friends for dinner, and we all loved our meals. Great variety and very friendly staff. Will definitely be back!

Excellent Italian menu and every meal is as good as the next. A decent sized dish will ensure you don't go home hungry & prices are very reasonable. A fabulous suburban BYO OPEN MON-SAT from 5:30

BEATS ALL PIZZERIAS. My husband and i had dinner here on a busy Saturday night and the service was great very fast service and great work enthusiasm from all staff especially Paul (the Boss) let alone the fantastic food..the best gourmet pizza and pasta We have ever had!! DEFINITELY our new go to restaurant when we visit Queensland. <br/>GOOD ON YOU ELIOS.<br/>Chris & Sue.
Jamesm_87
Overpriced and slow service. One of the more expensive places you will find, especially expensive given the suburb they are in. An entree size spaghetti is $23! Service is always slow as well, took about 30 minutes to bring out a garlic bread. For the prices you pay I highly recommend going somewhere with more ambience that is worth the hefty price tag.
Laurenharris83
Great for 'foodie families'. Absolutely perfect, could not fault a single thing! My husband and I dined here for dinner with our toddler and our baby and enjoyed some delicious pasta, pizza and dessert. I had no idea the place would be so kid-friendly. We will definitely be returning again soon. P.S. The Garlic and Cheese Bread is to die for!

Amazing!. Loved the service, food and the general atmosphere of the place. The waiters and waitresses were very attentive to our table and very friendly.

Disappointing. We recently moved to Carina and have driven past a few times and the place was quite busy so I assumed that it must be good. I was wrong,we ordered some pizza and pasta to takeaway and while it smelt good they were both a let down. Pizza was average at best and the pasta had almost no flavor beside a touch of garlic.
Rachel Self
Delicious!. We had the Monday night couple's deal; outstanding! Heaps of delicious food, friendly staff, nice mood and we got to take our dessert home with us (did I say there was heaps of food?). All for $50 for both of us. Will definitely be going back here

Bland Pizza. This was such a disappointment. The pizza was seriously horrible. So bland, no overall flavor whatsoever. There seemed to be very little tomato sauce on there so that probably didn't help. We had two different kinds of pizza and they were both just bland. The base itself had absolutely zero flavor. One of the pizzas was very burnt which we all found ridiculous. The prosciutto was so black that at first we couldn't tell what it was. It didn't even really taste like prosciutto because it had the flavor just burnt out of it. It is a shame because the staff are very friendly and obviously care about what they are doing. It looks like the staff, including the chefs, need to have a review of their pizzas. If they sampled them, I highly doubt they would be happy with them. Honestly won't be going back because it is not cheap so not worth the risk of having such bad pizza. There are much better pizza places around!

Below expectation!. I used to live in carina approx 3 yrs ago and would frequent this place for what was great food at a reasonable price. I now live a few suburbs away, but had a craving for a yummy pizza, so I ordered 2 lrg pizzas $51 later, I thought a bit expensive, but it will be worth it, how disappointed I was, pizzas lacked overall flavour, low on toppings and base was under cooked with a rubbery texture... Such a shame! It used to be so good, problem I have now is, I know restaurants have off nights, but do I really want to hand over another 50 to find out....probably not.... Thks.

Great Prawns. Garlic Prawns in creamy sauce with Pasta. Superb

Great good! Great service! Can't complain....

Wonderful!. I have been here at least five times now and tried most of the menu and I have not once been disappointed. The staff are very friendly. One of my favourites is how they can turn any pizza on the menu into a calzone. Their bread based items are made with the most delicious dough.

Best Italian Restaurant Ever!. The first time I ever went to this place I classed it as a standard Italian Restaurant but nothing to write home about. It was a nice cosy restaurant and very authentic feeling but that was about it.<br/>I am so glad I gave this place another go. I went here again with a big group of friends this time and was absolutely blown away by our amazing experience.<br/>Since there was a big group of us, we had to go for the banquet menu ($35 per head) and to be honest, that's the only way I'm ever going to do it from now. They bring out a large selection of various meals on their menue and keep bringing food out till you say stop. The value is amazing!<br/><br/>The first thing our waitor said to us was something along the lines of "ok so this is going to be just as if you were at a typical Italian family meal; I'll start off by saying you're all too skinny so get some food into you!" And they sure did. So much amazing food. Starters, mains (including pizza and pasta), dessert and coffee - all you can eat till you say stop.<br/><br/>When we asked for more ribs, we were told they had unfortunately run out but they then came back with a voucher for the birthday boy (who had asked for the ribs) for free ribs the next time he comes!<br/><br/>I have been raving about this place ever since! The service was great, the food tasted great, the portions were great!<br/><br/>5 Stars!!
Bec Kirchner
Was amazing! Will definitely be back. Best dessert I have ever eaten! Nutella calzone yum!

Good food, good service, good range on the menu. Staff are very friendly. Highly recommended.

Food is good but too dear. I used to go to Elios all the time but they put their prices up a year ago or so and i have not gone back. It is no longer good value.
Kirsty
I have eaten here many times now and every visit I've had a great experience. The staff are always lovely and go out of their way to make sure your experience is a good one. Food is great, with so many different options of pizza and pasta.
Kirst
Great food, great service, a bit expensive but worth it for a nice occasion. The Monday night couples special is brilliant, definitely would recommend.

We have been to Elio's many times over the last twelve years or so and have taken others there several times too. Elio's is a good, solid choice in the suburbs. We have always received good food and good service. I find the pizza, pasta and risotto menu a bit boring/limited at times and would like to see some other options but what they do they do quite well. They do get busy so it is advisable to book and if you don't want to sit on the noisy footpath you may need to book several days beforehand. Their prices have gone up over the years but as they are conveniently located, reliable and family-friendly it hasn't deterred us.
Brisbane Diner
Disappointed. Perched upon the busiest roundabout in an otherwise tranquil suburb, expect constant road noise to accompany your dining experience. We experienced close to an hours wait for our meals, on a week night, without the resturant being at capacity. When they arrived we received over cooked gnocchi and a marinara similar to Jamie Oliver's 15 minute meals, only it took 4x longer. Customers were served out of order and advised only half hour wait times. Upon payment there seemed confusion regarding the location of tables, so expect prolongation in this process as well. Overall stunningly below average. If you do go, here is a hint with the pastas, order the entree size as your main, it is only 5% smaller, yet costs approximate $10 or 33% more.
Andy Holt
Not worth it. The food is definitely not worth the menu asking price.<br/><br/>they must of either been in a rush when making the food or it was under cooked. <br/><br/>far better places to eat in the area, that's for sure.
Cait
Delicious!. Have eaten from here twice and love the food here- the restaurant is always really busy and have a great vibe, the food is delicious and this restaurant is definately worth a visit
Kim
Party catering. We went to Elio's tonight for Mum's 60th. The hospitality was amazing. Staff extremely helpful and food delicious. Very impressed with everything. Thank you!!!
Chad Glover
Can't complain about the food to much apart from being able to tell the chicken was microwave re heated. Extremely expensive for what it is, if it was more reasonably priced I would return but $30 for a pasta or a pizza, 5 star doesn't even charge that much. Shame cause it use to be reasonably priced Italian but I think they may have gotten a little greedy!
Jirren
Good choice for pizza. As above ^
Paul
Pizza. Don`t bother they have no idea how to make a pizza.
Nicole
Highly recommended!. Exceptional customer service and best pizza around! Book in advance to avoid disappointment :)

Fantasic food and service. True Italian Cuisine and pizzas to die for.Great staff. Must try the Italian Hot Chocolate. Its sooooo good!!!!!!!
Seasoned Diner
A beaut little suburban restaurant with a good range of meals. Prices slightly top heavy however made up by friendly staff.

Great food!!! Nice romantic And local restaurant

Good service no matter how busy they are and good food to boot!

Disappointing. Service was good, staff were very friendly.<br/>Food looks lovely however was clearly reheated in the microwave (cold on outside hot in middle). Did not taste traditional or like it was made on site. Unfortunately disappointing.

Love the place!. Where have all the friendly local restaurants gone? Here! That's where! So good to have great service and beautiful food at a local restaurant. One of the girls Morgan (I think) made us an awesome coffee too. Highly recommended!
Owen
Simply the Best. I just love this place. Being single I eat here quite regularly. The staff are always friendly and quickly learnt my beverage of choice. Prices are more than fair, the freshness of the ingredients is beyond approach and the meals arrive in good time. The atmosphere is very relaxed and the owner always take the time to chat with me for a few minutes. This is what service is all about. Booking is recommended as they can get busy-always a good sign.
JEP
Great Night. Went to Elios with a group on the weekend. It was the best night out - everything was really good - food, service. Couldn't fault it
P.P
Disgusting rip off. Worst meal I've ever eaten in Brisbane, I'd rather starve than eat here.
Brizsuz
Great. Have been to Elios a few times over the years. It's a great suburban Italian restaurant with an extensive menu and a relaxed feel.<br/><br/>Have enjoyed the banquet for birthday celebration and everyone went away full and happy.<br/><br/>My fave - ricotta ravioli al fredo. Not as rich as it used to be, but still a weight watchers nightmare!!

Excellent Service, Great Food. The service at Elios is always excellent - fun, relaxed, yet professional and prompt. The cheese calzone is fantastic, and the main meals always taste great and are a perfect size. Have been going here for years and will continue to do so. Thanks Elios, you never let me down!
Byron
Love it!. Relaxed atmosphere great food, great service. Great with kids both food wise and in terms of providing them with simple entertainment (drawing etc)

Haven't managed to eat there yet.... We were looking for a place for a dinner at 8pm on a Friday night, called Elios and asked what time they closed, and found out we had plenty of time. Headed down, parked, walked up and asked if they had a table for 2. The lady behind the desk gets a irritated look on her face and says "you don't have a booking...we can't possibly fit you in tonight, we're full." During the phone call she could have mentioned this. Places fill up that's fine, it was her attitude that really put me off.
Emmanuel
Great little resturaunt service was quick it had all the hallmarks of a great dinning experience and my dinner let it down. I got the chicken fetichine pesto and sadly for me it was bland and tasteless. I tried my wife's meal and hers was very tasty but alas mine was left on the plate. My wife really loves this place so I will go once more for her and try another meal but for now I give my meal a thumbs down.
Kane Adrian
It's not technically on the menu but the chicken pesto gnocchi is a definite favourite! Great quality food.
Daniel Harding
Amazing.. you won't be disappointed. The food is unbelieveable... I grabbed some takeaway the other day from there (which was awesome) and noticed chicken on the menu.<br/><br/>Went back and ate in and the Chicken was absolutely amazing....<br/><br/>but....as great as the food is... the service certainly is the most impressive. Very attentive and on the job...<br/>What more can you ask for..

Check out the "fine print" at the bottom of the menu. Hilarious!

Can't beat their garlic and cheese bread!. Very nice Italian restaurant that also does take away. I'm a big fan of their pasta and there garlic and cheese bread is awesome. If your planning on dining in I would ring and book because it's very popular on weekends.

Last Thursday, mum and I revisited Elio's in Carina. By revisited, I mean that my family got takeaway pasta from there maybe upwards of 6-7 years ago. We always had a really good impression of the pasta so as time went by, whenever people asked us for pas
