Abode is my hands down favourite spot for breakfast / lunch in the western suburbs. The cafe has super relaxed vibes with pretty decor - plenty of plants and a lovely outdoor sitting area. The staff are super friendly (legit A+ for customer service every time). They make the best coffee in the Taringa/ Indro/ Toowong area. Their food is delicious, home styles cooking , that is bang for your buck and the portion sizes are bang on. Menu changes regularly so there's always something new to try . I don't usually write reviews unless I froth this hard so well done Abode !
The cutest looking cafe from the outside, walked in and the first thing I noticed was the amazing smell of chai brew! Well set out with pretty decor and good music. The staff were super friendly from the moment I walked in, and the two flat whites that I drank were hands down the best coffees I've had in ages!! Absolutely 10/10 would recommend to anyone passing through the area. LOVED IT! Good job guys and thanks for the lovely experience :)
Delightful place to spend a leisurely afternoon! The Turkish eggs are to die for - didn't even take a photo because they looked so good I just had to tuck in! Quince sparkle was fabulous, and the lemongrass and ginger tea was really delicious - especially served in a delicate tea cup that made the tea heart-shaped! Lovely staff with great service made it even more special. Nice one, Abode!
Fantastic little cafe! Amazing food and coffee and the service was brilliant. Warm, friendly, staff who catered to special food needs with no hesitation. Thank you for a beautiful lunch. Will definitely be back and recommend to others
This Sunday my whole family went to Abode for breakfast and it was very very good.
I sometimes just drinked coffee but never had a full meal in Abode.
Some of my friends always told me that ‘Abode’ was amazing.
So I thought that it would be nice to go and have breakfats with my whole family
And just like my friends told me.... It was very very good.
Really enjoyed our lunch today. The food was great and the service was very welcoming and accommodating. Would totally recommend Abode Cafe and will be coming back on my next visit to Brisbane.
Love going to Abode for the excellent coffee and peaceful atmosphere. Perfect place to study or read.
I already love Abode, but when the waitress takes my baby so I can eat my delicious breakfast, makes me love it just that bit more
Yummy food and a great ambiance! A fabulous spot to visit
Definitely one of my favourite spots! peaceful atmosphere and really good food! I just love it!
Im lucky to live near Abode Cafe. I love their coffee and apple cake with cream. So yummy. Good service
One of female staff has best service but i dont know her name.
Can't go past Abodes savoury mince for breaky- 11/10!
Had a fantastic breakfast here this morning. The savoury mince and the nanna's eggs were both delicious.
Delicious meals and delicious coffees. Friendly service. Our local favourite.
Always very busy as it is so lovely, so expect a bit of a wait time or the chance there may be no tables.
It’s a nice cafe in Taringa. We visited the cafe on a hot day for coffee and it was really hot even though the AC was on. The coffee was really nice. Surprisingly they didn’t have any soy milk and we had to get almond milk.
Really detail oriented fit out. It’s well thought out and creates a cosy relaxing space for a late Sunday brekkie. I enjoyed the nice touch preserves available for purchase. Coffee and juices were good, though there is no soy option. As a matter of personal preference, I prefer bacon cooked or at least finished on a grill/in a pan not just cooked in the oven but otherwise very impressed. Gf bread options was impeccable. Service was prompt and warm. Will be back.
Absolutely love this place!
Smashed avo with the nut butter and add an egg on top is my go to. Boyfriend loves the mince on toast. Both have great flavour and just hits the spot for Sunday brunch.
Coffee is also 👍👌
Love how it’s small and in a neighbourhood. Has great ambience and always friendly service.
Only downside is they run out of things on the menu at times...but hey they can’t predict how many people will order something and probably means less food wastage. Thinking of the positives!
Was around the area 3 weeks ago on Sunday morning. Honestly, I have not been around here for at least 20 years. It was an amazingly feeling to see the changes nearby. Walked the café and was greeted by the friendly staff. Placed the order of flat white and a dish of Chorizo Scrambled Egg. Coffee came to the table within minutes. Looked great but strength was a little bit to the downside (just problem of my own palate but overall was good). Savoury dish was presented well with some dills on the of the scrambled eggs, which was perfectly done. Loved the idea of crumbed chorizo that added the saltiness to the egg and would not be too feeling. In fact, the chilli jam did help in digestion too. Absolutely agreed with Imco (see her review sometime ago and we had exactly the same choice of food & beverage), it seemed that the value of the scrambled egg with that sort ingredients not quite balanced. However, overall experience was decent.
Absolutely beatiful food and coffee! I had the Baked Eggs for the first time ever. The taste was brilliant!
I don't give full score review. But the experience was perfect!
First visit here today and loved it. The Turkish eggs are awesome. Great coffee, child and dog friendly, nice outdoor seating. Convenient local setting.
Nice cafe, good food and coffee, excellent service. Staff are very friendly. The wait was quite long for our food, and so they gave us our coffees for free which was very nice :) We'll definitely be back!
Abode Cafe was recommended to me only a couple days ago. Searching up their reviews, there were many positive ones about their products and services. Located not far from where I work, I decided to check it out and have my morning coffee fix there 🙌🏻
I had a quick glance at their menu prior to my arrival at the cafe, so I knew what I was going to order at the counter. Let's go with the Chorizo Scrambled Eggs and a Flat White :)
While waiting for my breakfast, it was nice to enjoy some 80s music playing in the background. The sun shining through the windows from behind, gave some natural warmth. If only it was my day off, I wouldn't mind sitting here much longer 😌
Coffee - A brew that introduces a strong acidic yet fruity flavour to the palate. I would have appreciated it even more if it was served hotter ☝🏻
Food - Eggs were made soft and creamy. The crumb chorizo served with chilli jam was really enjoyable. The jam offered a good balance of sweet and spiciness (a delicious touch). Sourdough was lightly toasted.
The only downside for me was, the portion didn't measure up to its value.
Apart from that, a pleasant cafe accompanied by friendly staff :)
Thank you Abode Cafe.
Great food, Great Coffee, Great Service!!!
A delicate blend of well seasoned and balanced flavours, smashed Avo on toast was really yummmo.. savoury mince is well rounded with the right amount of spices, highly recommend this little hidden place, a good local secret definitely worth the visit!!!
I loved it! Good job guys and thanks for the lovely experience :)
A really good place to start the day, they serve tasty breakfast. Love their sourdough with tomato chilli jam + pouch eggs after they no longer serve my old favourite egg and soldier. The hot chocolate was a bit bitter.
Sweet little cafe in the quiet suburban streets of indro/Taringa. It seems like it would be hipster pretentious but actually is very friendly and laid back.
We enjoyed a yummy mushroom breakfast, sat outdoors in the spring sunshine and all was good with life. The coffee is a little too fruity, tangy, sour for my taste but my partner enjoyed it.
I'm not really keen on the idea of buying a glass of soda streamed Brisbane tap water, but perhaps the majority of customers don't care?
A friend recommended this café to me. Have tried the "Smokin Savoury Mince on Toast"! Savoury indeed! Its taste is quite Mexican style~ spicy+sour+sweet~ great combination! it doesn't taste greasy at all! What a lovely brunch for a morning☺️
Nice little café. Average price and decent food. Not amazing but decent (7/10).
Coffee looks amazing - but the almond house almond milk doesn't taste perfecto. However it stretches like a boss.
Service 10/10
Food and coffee is tasty. Give yourself plenty of extra time if dropping in for a takeaway coffee (even when trade is slow) they always seem to take more then 10 minutes.
Stumbled upon this place the other day and loved it! Their food is all ethically sourced, they make their own Almond milk, sauces and jams on site.
The staff are really friendly and you can tell they have a passion for what they do. The food is super yummy! This had become my newest favourite brekky joint! Keep up the good work guys (and gals)!!
Abode is a cute and quirky suburban gem. It's served consistently good coffee and food over a long period of time and it has a lovely atmosphere.
Love this place! A little local gem and hidden haven with great service, yummy food, beautiful location and all for such a great price! They even make yummy home made preserves which are for sale.
One of our favourite coffees in Brisbane! Really friendly, helpful staff. Coffee is delicious. They make their own almond milk. Allergy friendly options available. Great subject cafe with a friendly vibe.
Absolutely love this neighborhood cafe, with the warmest staff and a good menu! Portions are not huge but the flavors are a great mix. Of course coffee is on point and the caramel slice is amazing!
Had a relaxed late breakfast with Jacob at Abode Cafe and the first thing to commend is the pun-filled menu! I grabbed the most gorgeous muesli I have ever eaten, complete with coyo and dried rose petals. As pretentious as that sounds, Abode was anything but that - the staff were warm and attentive, the cafe itself welcoming, and the abundance of fresh produce we could see in the open-plan kitchen made the whole experience feel like going to a friend's for breakfast. Coffee was well-made and prices were palatable. It is definitely a great little nook in the back streets of Indooroopilly and I commend their ability to keep such a strong flow of customers all morning.
Fast and friendly service, great food, lovely décor, and a quiet and relaxed atmosphere! The savoury mince on toast is a total winner. My only gripe is they didn't have poached eggs, only fried. Surely it can't be that hard to offer both!
This is without a doubt one of my favourite locals. As I live in the area, I spend a lot of my time at this cute suburban cafe. Abode use Black Sheep Coffee, a local coffee roaster based near Brisbane. Typically there are 5 or so options on the menu, all of which are done extremely well and use seasonal and local produce. This is the type of cafe where you can relax and enjoy a long Sunday brekky or meet with friends for coffee and freshly baked sweets. Their lemon olive oil cakes are amazing!! If you're in the Western suburbs of Brisbane, this cafe is definitely worth your while. #brisbane #brisbanefood #brisbanefoodblog
bronwyn runs a tight ship! the food and coffee are always on point; it absolutely always worth the drive. the seating outside is superb in the winter sun, and sometimes you quite forget you're even in inner brisbane!
With a changing menu it was a hard choice between avocado toast, savoury brekky mince and Humpty Dumpty eggs! (we both ended up with humpty dumpty :P) . The gooey eggs were delish (8/10) accompanied with some cheesy herb bread and capsicum relish...
This is my most favourite place ever. My roommate and I are obsessed and try to get down to the cute spot at least once a week! Wonderful staff and a really good vibe !!!
Cappuccino. Perfect place to relax with a good book and great coffee :)
-----16 Apr, 2015-----
This is one of my absolute favourite cafes. Beautiful staff, delicious food (and jams) and great coffee. Definitely recommend visiting this place. The Avo on toast is exceptionally good :)
Not sure how to really rate it. Pros:
-DELICIOUS food and AMAZING coffee that you have to keep going back for
Cons:
- If you have a food intolerance/allergy or you need to change something on the menu..... Good luck. I have dined there 3 times and each time they provided me with something with a dish that was very easily modifiable but wasn't
-Poor service - On 2 for the 3 occasions when dining there a drinks were orded but never arrived. They need to either look at getting more staff for when it is busy or think of a way to make sure that what the customer would like is communicated more efficiently to those in the kitchen and the barista .
Breakfast Curry - Delicious!
Lovely. Great little place on leafy street. Nice shaded outdoor front patio. Very friendly service and no problems to split bill. Simple menu but well done! Good quality bread ( important for me) and most importantly great coffee!! Well done abode!
Abode Cafe - Indooroopilly, Brisbane. Right off to the side of a general store, taking up what previously belonged to the same general store (it is still there) is something of a neighbourhood gem. Using the outside courtyard well, it has a cosy feel and is almost quiet. Getting all kinds of acclaim for their quality of coffee is a small cafe in the middle of the Hilston Road Centre; its name is Abode and is proving to be a winner in many regards.
Whether intentional or not, the vibe that I got from Abode was similar to a country kitchen. By this meaning, the doors were wide open welcoming any potential customers to simply walk on through, the interior was very simple and bare, all the food had a fresh vibrancy in preparation and flavour, preserves were for sale and the openness of the dining outside complete with several umbrellas and trees providing shade equilibrium to the sunshine. Just to think all of this is in a quiet backstreet of an Indooroopilly/Taringa suburban area. One last touch was having some of the produce right in the middle of the tables; the big, long table had a bowl of onions and garlic heads on it. This place has a charming character that is easily welcoming people back before they are even seated.
This is more exemplified by fantastic, gregarious service. The main staff member, a lovely young lady, was pleasant. That morning coming here with my dining buddy, they were out of a kitchen since it was being renovated. She was apologetic about it all and pointed it out. Since they were pleasant enough about it and he had made an effort to come here my dining buddy though may as well try to have a coffee at the place. For something to eat, there was a selection of a few cakes on the counter. To get the most out of the experience, I went for the usual coffee and cake option.
The food that they do do when it is available is all freshly prepared, down to the sweets which are always being baked in the ovens out the back. Everything is done from scratch, giving an organic feel of a craftman's work. This even comes down to the drinks, with freshly squeezed fruit juices, milkshakes which differ from the norm and coffee which comes from one talented barista. It will be well worth it to come back here when the kitchen is all in tact to see further the fuss about their food.
Being in the morning, it was the usual double shot cappuccino. The coffee that they use is sourced from Black Sheep Roasters, which is roasted locally in town just on the other side of the river. This particular blend that they used had a lot of overbearing fruit, floral notes. It is a complex mixture of six different sources. As for the actual coffee drink itself, it is perfectly done. The milk was well textured, the feel of the coffee was smooth and fantastic - it was all one drink - and the crema was really nice. It wins on the coffee alone. Once upon a time, this would have seemed weak for my tastes - now I can appreciate more delicate varieties.
The sweet that I went for was an unusual one. Its name was "Persian Love Cake" and tasted unlike most other sweets that I have had in the past. Pistachio and nutmeg are the major flavours in the cake, which are just a couple of the tastes present. It does not come from Iran itself, but a lot of influence of Persian cuisine are present in this cake. Finishing it off was crunchy crust.
Whereas a trend nowadays for eateries seems to be them attempting to be too much, Abode scales it down without meeting the risks of looking boring in comparison. It is a breath of fresh air, where quality matters and it is away from the crowds yet popular enough to guarantee from a glance that they are worth trying out. In which, they certainly are.
Go to the top of the class.. Great black star coffee from a very skilled barista. My capucino was smooth with a velvety, fruity aftertaste. Just what I needed and the Persian love cake was delicious too. It had such an unusual combination of spices. This place used to be rated as the number 1 coffee place in Brisbane on another review site and I must say it deserves it's reputation. May I add the service is very good as well. This is one of my new favourites.
Great little place tucked away in the burbs. Coffee was delicious, as was the savoury mince. Very friendly staff.
A hidden gem!. Great coffee, impeccably thought out simple food dishes, cozy interior with beautiful suburban surroundings.
Abode is the perfect way to escape the usual madness of busy shopping centres and malls and catch up with family and friends. If it was closer to my home I'd never leave!
I like this place. It is ace.
This bright busy little cafe is an unexpected find in the back streets of Taringa. Set well back from the street with a couple of bench tables and umbrellas to shade patrons from the sun. A limited but interesting menu- good coffee and very friendly service. Interesting use of mismatched vintage china adds charm, as do the homemade preserves.
Portions are sufficient and you are welcome to stay and chat without feeling rushed. A really great little place- the locals are very lucky.
Amazing gem. What an amazing place, and if you get the owner making you a coffee she is an amazing barister. She makes the best coffee I have had. Food is fantastic and never complaints.
Quick, great service! Avo toast came out in under 10 mins, and my coffee was awesome.
A special little place. Excellent coffee, perfect short menu. The savoury mince is unreal! Will become a regular.
Great little place. What a great little cafe. In a residential area so seating is a bit limited and the place is always packed. Good range of dishes (mainly breakfasty and served til 2pm). Have been a couple of times and tried different things, sweet and savory, and have not been disappointed. Everyone is very friendly though service is a little on the slow side. Larger range of cakes wouldn't go astray either.
Best little cafe around!. Have visited numerous times now for coffee, and twice for food. They do a fantastic job with both. Coffees are always perfectly made on Black Sheep beans, and the food is simple but not ordinary. The flavours they manage to get into dishes such as savoury mince, eggs en cocotte and avo on toast (with almond butter - yum) are just beautiful. Service is super friendly and the cafe itself has a nice relaxing feel to it. Well done, this is the best little cafe in the area for sure :)
Good. Met a friend for lunch. Both of our meals were delicious but the choices on the menu weren't really what we wanted for lunch as it was much more of breakfast feel. Great if you love all day breakfast though. I would definitely go back for brunch now that I know what's served. Service was lovely and very pleasant sitting outdoors on such a beautiful day.
A beautiful, cozy little cafe that makes you feel at home. Possibly one of the best coffees I've had in Brisbane and the menu range was amazing. Friendly staff and great food!
Cute new addition to the breakfast scene. Friendly staff and solid little menu :) very happy to see almond milk as a substitute on offer and our iced drinks were delicious. Only negatives are that the menu is a little pricey for the portion sizes and the iced drinks were served in nice large glasses but only a third full - a little confused - my partner and I have come to the conclusion they must have just been very low on milk (still charged 9 dollars for 2 sips of a drink though) willing to give these guys a second chance!
Abode is a lovely little cafe nestled away from the hustle and bustle. The coffee is always spot on and the food is simple and delicious. Live the avocado toast and savoury mince! The service is always friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend!
Awesome coffee, very homely menu and they make all cakes onsite. Brilliant place for brekky/brunch
Loved it. Great food, fantastic coffee
I have been to this cafe many times now and they always have great coffee. The menu is awesome - ranging from savoury mince to baked eggs to tasty cakes (and more!) The staff were friendly and engaging, and the atmosphere is spot on. Highly recommend.
Tucked away and peaceful. This are my local shops. And nothing made me happier than when coffee came back to the Courtyard garden area. Back in 1998 there was a bustling Cafe/Deli and the garden courtyard was always full. A favourite haunt of the local residents. It's been a few years since we've been able to enjoy sitting out in the unique green space, enjoying a great espresso and looking up to Mt Cootha. And it seems by how busy the Cafe has got so quickly, that the locals are again returning. Such a community hub. I keep running in to other locals here. It's a lovely little location, tucked away, green and yes *kid friendly* No kids screaming around on the multiple times I've sat here, but they do play in the grassy garden area, which is perfect for them. You can't blame a Cafe for customers kids! It's a nice suburban spot.
The food is all made on site, fresh, delicious and simple. A nice all day Brunch menu. My favourite is the Mince on sourdough. Love that tomato relish. But the winner for me is the lovely cakes, biscuits and slices made fresh each day. oooh and the jams and relishes made on site too!
Black Sheep Coffee is always a winner and it is made well and consistantly here. Perfect temp, nice latte art, smooth and well rounded. yum.
It's not a big place and limited seating inside and out. Outside restrictions due to Council restrictions. :(
Over all, it is a wonderful addition for this side of Taringa, friendly, local and fresh.
Diana. Simplicity that is what Abode is all about. Simple short & sweet menu & simple easy food, but all very tasty & I always say simple is usually best. The coffee is also a good brew, smooth Black Sheep (could have been a tad stronger for my taste ) but all up OK
The past part about it is that there are rarely any meals above $15! That’s deal for cafes in Brisbane! The service was friendly, we were asked twice if our meals were going alright. Even though the space looks a bit small, it is a great place to catch up with friends. There was one particular corner which I really loved and wish it was the dinning area of my home. Loved it, definitely recommend it to all my friends staying in the west. I am now moving all the way to the south side, hoping to discover some gems there too!
We stumbled upon this cafe this morning and I’m very glad that we did! The food was superb! Wait staff were so friendly and welcoming, a few regulars came through and the atmosphere was so wholesome. For the superior quality the price was excellent and I would 110% recommend this to a friend!
A lovely local breakfast cafe with friendly and experienced staff. They did run out of a couple of menu items and the space inside is a little tight but the outdoor courtyard is perfect for a winter breakfast spot. The food was nice too.
visited Abode cafe this morning for a drink and a quick bite~ lovely outdoor and indoor seating area, really homey feel to it, lives up to its name! staff here are super friendly and nice~ we found a table quite easily as many people were just taking away~ we ordered a latte, hot choc and two plain croissants~
drinks took quite a while to come out, i would assume as many people were waiting to take away, so we wanted to drink in but had to get them in take away cups as we were running out of time
croissants were quite lovely! i heard this place freshly bakes their croissants each day! $6.5 per croissant which is a bit on the pricey side but for a freshly baked one, quite worth it!
overall quite a good experience, definitely will visit again as i peeked at other tables breakfasts and they looked so good!
We found this delightful cafe around the corner from the laundromat due to the rain and OMG I'm glad we did. The food was amazing and you could tell that it was prepare with love and dedication to the art of cooking. The only thing better than the food, which is pretty difficult to top, was the amazing wait staff. The friendly demeanor and welcoming attitudes were able to turn a rainy day into a ray of sunshine.
This is one of my 2 very favourite coffee shops in Taringa. The coffee is beautiful. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The baker at Abode is phenomenal. If you are considering the donut, get it because you definitely won’t be sorry … it’s everything a donut should be and more! The only problem is you might start dreaming about this donut afterwards and can’t get it out of your head 🤭 So fresh because it’s just come out of the oven while you are still waiting for your coffee. The croissants are scrumptious. Then, the French banquette is our favourite and sells out quickly and the sourdough is often still warm when they hand it to you and you don’t have to drive to the other side of Brisbane for sourdough … it’s right here from the village bakery at Abode ❤️
Absolutely must visit. Some of the best sourdough I've ever tasted. Such a cute little vibe too. Crazy to see it so deep in the suburbs. Absolutely worth it
Great service, staff were very friendly. Freshly baked pastries and breads were available at the counter which was great. The best portions, especially with the avo, you got what you paid for. Tasted amazing and fresh. Loved the aesthetic of the place, great music and decor as well. It feels very comfy in here.
