Review Grill'd Wintergarden - Brisbane

Emily Lee
HOLY, this has got to be the best gluten free burger I have ever had! I have several allergies (gluten, dairy, eggs), and grill’d was able to make burgers that tasted yummy, while also being good for my allergies. I absolutely loved the sweet potato chips as those were scrumptious. the burger was juicy and flavorful too! the service is super fast and efficient, and everybody who works there is super nice. They helped me order when I was confused. 10/10 recommend this place

Lunched here with some colleagues because the pickiest eater in the group wanted beef burgers. The others ordered from their phones at the table, but I still went with the physical counter as I couldn't figure out how to use my Relish club voucher through the web ordering. Food was decent, on par with my typical experience from other Grill'd outlets I've visited (ie. marks for consistency). This was also the only branch from which I managed to get one of the HFC burgers when it was on special for $5 a few months back.

Honestly all staff at this Grill'd are amazing. Every single staff member is friendly, has a smile when u speak to them and they make you feel welcome. Every other food establishment in Brisbane should have their staff trained here.....Recommend this restaurant to everyone. Thank you Grill'd because finally a food place with no issues. Absolutely amazing and fantastic. You are a credit to the Brisbane people.

We love Grill’d and have come to this location over the years and always enjoyed the great food and especially good service. Tonight was painfully heartbreaking. Once informed of new ordering policy, that was a warning bell straight away. Service is a vital part of the dining experience. Fine however and we moved on and ordered. Let the waiting begin…..the drinks took way too long, even by hospitality standards. A near off flavoured wine and a failure to inform that they’d run out of a product was a sad let down. The food eventually came and for the price, a mutual feeling of being shortchanged was felt. Hardly any jalapeños, guacamole. Not sure how an establishment can allow this. The best part. No CHECK BACK!! This is basic hospitality 101!!! As a former hospitality manager/trainer/waiter with over 20 years experience and a pride for great service and making sure the customers have all they need, tonight was a very sad let down. I don’t usually complain and we’re 2 of the easiest to please customers but this hit a new kind of low. Sorry Grill’d but this ain’t acceptable. Hell, we didn’t even get the tokens for the donation buckets! :(

I came here Monday and was served by a lovely girl named Ruby. She was so nice to us and had a great smile the whole time. My food was served hot and fresh. Best experience ever!

Love this place, it's got a great 'diner' vibe. The burger was tops, fresh and healthy, tasty too. The staff are also very impressive and create a nice friendly experience.

Very fresh and amazing burgers. One Star less since they charge for ketchup which I think should be part of burger and they do not have option for meal deals. Overall very nice experience.

Confusing entry - I waited at the ‘wait here’ sign for 20min before just walking in and ordering. Food took 25min and one of the orders was wrong. When this was corrected it was put on the same bun, which by this stage was cold. Bought chips and was advised all sauce cost extra, only to discover later (when halfway through eating them) tomato sauce is free - which was good but a bit annoying to not be told up front. Also no water available to self serve? A bit confusing when it’s not brought to the table or offered at any stage. When we did ask we were brought one glass of water, which is fine, just strange as there were two of us dining. However the food is tasty, and staff were pleasant, especially the lady who brought our food

3.5/5

Grill’d wintergarden is usually not too busy and food generally comes out quickly. Not the best service, but definitely not the worst.

Salad was very filling and is consistent at wintergarden when comparing to other grill’d stores.

Nothing too amazing, many other places in the city to choose from.

Service: 2
Food: 3

Food: chicken was burnt. Had to throw out some pieces as the charcoal taste was so overpowering

Service: stood there waiting to be served whilst one was already serving someone placing a lengthy order; one stood at the kitchen counter talking to someone in the kitchen, turned around and looked at me a few times, returned back to the convo and then walked off; one was playing with the cutlery container, decided to put the cutlery away after she finished what she was doing and then came to take my order.....

Yummy burger from this Grill’d. A bit heavy on the sauce as it was oozing everywhere, a more tomatoes than to my liking. Came here after the lunch rush and it was very quiet. Friendly staff and burger arrived very quickly. Nice gluten free bun.

love the burgers here a lot! and so conderate of having knives for us to cut it half. my favourite one is the summer sunset, love the pineapple so juicy and neutralise the fatty feeling from the meat, well to me =)
Quality! It Shouldnt Be That Hard! Love A Wonderful Mouth Full Of Wholesome FOOD!
My gf loves this place!

We came here in the afternoon it wasn’t very busy! It’s a really big restaurant and the service is good!

It had a lot of veggie burgers available to!

I had a chicken burger with bacon it was so yummy !!! A little costly with a drink just under $20 to late $20 just for the burger and drink

Over the past week I came to this shop to try the new Vegan burgers recently released.

I've had firstly the Amazing Vegan Cheeseburger and for the second time I tried the Hemp Therapea with vegan mayo instead of tzatziki.

The Amazing Vegan Cheeseburger is not as amazing as it sounds and although it's a huge burger it's kinda boring and I was already tired halfway through since everything had the same texture and the patty was soggy and kept sliding of the bun. Would rate a 2.5 out of 5.

The Hemp Therapea was a much more enjoyable burger and way better than the not so amazing cheeseburger. The bun was a bit dry but it had a lot more going on with different textured flavours and was overall a good burger. would rate it a 4 out of 5.

Overall I'm not too impressed with the new burgers as I don't see them as being an improvement to the previous available options. But I would be back for the Hemp burger.
Linna (Gluten Free)
rather disappointed that their low carb bun is literally the flattest bread ever. no wonder it’s called low carb bc there’s hardly anything :”( next time i’ll just go for the gluten free bun because what is a burger without its buns (lol my friend got bun-less burgers)

anyway i got the good karma burger but felt that it was overpriced for what i received. it was well seasoned but it kinda tasted the same as a $12 burger for instance. i liked the beetroot addition. the fries were super salty! like calm down on the salt i’m good. mostly just the bun that was very disappointing especially because it was a $1.5 add on. if i do go to a grilld again, i won’t be ordering the same burger or the low carb bun

Food and service is great, always greeting with a warm and welcoming smile no matter which franchise. It's always a pleasure to dine in at grill'd.

Burgers were good but wish they could add more salad and relish considering its price.

Chips however were underwhelming. Tastes of nothing but rosemary - overpowering. Also weren’t hot.

Great service. Burgers were very nice.
Could not fault this fast food chain.

If I am in the city again, and wanting Grill'd I would return.

Review of the High Steaks burger - most gristle I've ever had on a burger and expensive too. Came out relatively quickly - place was busy and we ordered in time to beat a rush.

On my first trip to Australia, a friend recommended them for a good burger and it was well worth it! The ingredients are so fresh and the sauces used on the burger taste amazing. I had the bacon & cheese beef burger with sweet potato fries. The fries were perfect - soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside and the sweet chili mayo sauce compliments it very well. The burger was big and very tasty. The place is very cosy and has a nice vibe and the staff are super friendly. Definitely a place to visit!

SERVICE = 3.5
FOOD =3.5
Enjoy this place very much... a cosy spot and this spot in the city does a good job. Great burgers, filling and good choices with their new menu additions.

Having never entered or eaten at a Grill'd before, I was somewhat sceptical when my office chose it for lunch, yet I was pleasantly surprised. We were given a semi-private dining area and served relatively quickly. I ordered the Nourish & Flourish burger which was actually very good considering its $13.50 price. Having been to other similar burger joints, Grill'd was fast, affordable and tasty enough to warrant returning.

I love the Queenslander beef burger. But the service simply sucks. The staffs are like robots. Very rejecting. If an experience comes from food and service. I would give full points to food. Zero to service.
Thebasicbalance
Tried the new low carb beef burger and it is now my new fave!! Great combination with the pickles and mayo! The staff were friendly and energetic.

It was busy when we arrived and was told that there was a 30 min wait for food. 1 hour later our meal hadn't even been started on. I recived a refund but that didn't really help with two (now crying) young children.
Foodie07
Terrible customer service, 3 different people came to check serval times if we wanted our plates removed from the table while someone else was still eating. Burgers are always done nicely and the chips are great too. Would recommend except the restaurant should teach their staff better manners.

Very poor customer service! I went there with my friends to celebrate a birthday, and I have to say, being the waiter and waitress over there will be the easiest job ever, because they basically doing nothing! When I asked for a table water, the waitress INSTRUCTED me to get the water at the bar while she was just standing and look around,it was not even busy. Furthermore, apparently they are not really familiarise with their jobs, when the burgers were ready, my friend noticed they holding the burgers and stranding at the middle, don't know where to go. So I turned the table number towards them, then only they served the burgers. I can see they not really remember how the tables are arranged. Even Dumpling Republic and Hanaichi have a better services than them. And Miel Burger have a nicer burgers and chips than them. So in short, it's not really somewhere I am willing to spend my money at.

Consistently good (5visits). Always a good meal here, really enjoy the 3 sliders meal and they have stone&wood beers!(highly desired beer) Service is good too

Surprisingly good burgers, crispy chips and a nice cold jug of beer. Some days that's all you need!

Service met expectations. Food and drinks delivered in a timely fashion. All six of us enjoyed our burgers

Despite not being busy our burgers took 45mins. Can't say I'm very impressed. My boyfriend and I came in last Saturday around 6. The live music was great (unlike the terribly out of tune guy last time) and the staff were very friendly. However the restaurant wasn't even half full yet it took more than 45mins to get our two burgers! The xmas parade was on that night so it would have been obvious that the place would get busy but they were still (I guess) understaffed for even half-capacity. When the crowd did come in after the parade the poor waitress looked like she was nearly in tears! The food was good, and cheap as always, but had gone cold.

First time. A group of four of us, stopped in for dinner and all agreed the food was very good and the service was excellent. We will come back when in Brisbane.

Not what you're thinking a Grill'd should be.. The last time I dined at Grill'd was at the Wintergarden and I won't be going back. After a series of strike outs, including a burger that was so poorly assembled I had to remake it, I've come to the realisation that Grill'd's hey day is over, they're coasting on the loyalty and not bothering about trying to win customers anymore. Aka, not paying attention to what they're doing at all.

I walked straight up to the counter and it took a while for the staff to notice me, they were all engrossed in conversations and the like. They eventually took my order, a Summer Sunset and some chips, and I seated myself.

When the burger arrived, it was delivered by a ninja. I never saw them. An arm sort of reached around me and plonked the board on the table and they said something like "Summer Sunset." (maybe?) and they were gone. I can't even tell you if it was a guy with a girl voice or a girl with a guy voice.

Then I noticed that they hadn't delivered the chips I'd ordered and paid for. I decided to wait until I finished the burger before bugging them about the chips. There were staff around but they seemed reluctant to interact with the customers. When I was done I went to the counter to address the issue with the chips and an older man didn't seem to believe me. But he kindly relented and let me have the chips I'd ordered.

Which were a pale imitation of what I had come to expect from Grill'd, until recently. They were old enough that they'd started to go slightly rubbery and limp, lukewarm at best and very poorly seasoned.

Personally I would recommend Grill'd as a last ditch burger effort. Consider the McDonalds downstairs, at least you know what you're signing up for.

Geoff from SYD. I dropped into Grill'd at the Wintergarden last night about 8pm after a long day at work. Place was empty and I waited at the "please wait to be seated" sign for about 3 minutes before staff noticed me. They seemed pre-occupied with themselves. Placed order for my meal with a beer and it took the usual time to arrive at my table with friendly service. First thing I noticed was the chips looked wrinkled and re-heated and the chicken fillet dry. Picked up knife and fork to begin eating and was surprised to see how filthy they were, so took them back to counter and asked for them to be replaced. Somewhat surprised to receive a non-plussed response from staff. Clean utensils brought to my table and ate meal but it certainly was not up to the usual Grill'd standards in terms of quality and quantity. All-in-all a very disappointing experience so won't be going there again. Can do very much better, Grill'd. At least the beer was cold and didn't go flat during the meal.

Declining quality. This was a favourite dining spot, however on recent occasions it has not been of a high standard. Ingredients on burgers has been sparse, little meat, cheese That is not identifiable, three bits of onion and two lettuce leaves. No longer on my list of good eateries.

-----06 Apr, 2014-----

Declining quality. Staff are the worst. Headed to Grilld after Strike bowling last Saturday night with the kids. The restaurant was deserted apart from a couple of tables. No queue. We went to the counter and stood there for about 5 minutes while the staff sipped juice, danced and mucked around right in front of us. An annoyed employee took our order for 2 Kids Mini Moo take away meals. Kids were starving but we always go to the Emporium Grilld and wait only minutes. After a 15 minute wait while staff resumed their previous muck around behaviour, I went and asked how much longer. After another 5 minutes the take away was ready. Never go there again. Get rid of your current Saturday night staff!

Where's the love?. Used to be good here, though not good the last couple of times. Today my bun was stale, the burgers were cold and chips were cold and overcooked. Service still friendly though.

Chilly mayo !!!
I Love Food
Delicious. I come here often after uni for a nice big burger, with some of the best rosemary chips around! Definitely some of the best burgers in Brisbane.

Lamb burger was good, the rest are normal. It's a good place, I like the lamb burger.

Love it. Never thought I'd love a burger joint period, but I've been here many times now and the food is great! Only exception is one time when the burger dripped a lot of juice so was a bit messy and the chips weren't as fab as they usually are. Every other time though excellent! Burger's amazingly fresh and chips with sea salt and rosemary to die for. Keeps me coming back.

A regular to the establishment, I dined with colleagues on 2-for-1 vouchers. Disappointed to say that chicken in sweet chilli chicken burger was undercooked and jelly-like in the middle. Returned it but instead of getting a fresh burger requested a voucher for free burger on another visit instead (time restraints) which they obliged to with little fuss. While disappointed on this occasion, I have eaten at Grill'd countless times and love their burgers and chips with dipping sauce. I once ate with a group of 10+ and got treated to the first round of drinks on the house - do it!!

If you like burgers you should come here, they're are big, tasty and crunchy, the beef is always juicy, the chicken is always tender, and the vegetarian selection is wide, tasty and newfangled, and of course the fries are simply irresistible, salty with a mix of herbs you can't not like. Best burgers in Brissy!
Manuel
Always happy to come here for a burger and a beer at lunch, in and out within 45 mins

Quick lunch. All good at the burger bar. tried the gluten free bun & wish i hadn't but every thing else ok.

Quality feed, great staff. What I love about this place is they have something for everyone (vegetarians, avid meat eaters, etc). The pricing is reasonable and they use fresh, quality ingredients. The staff are always super friendly. Id love to see a new type of burger bun though and maybe another vege option.
Chris
Never disapointed. Always get a great burger. The chips are tasty too

Loved it!. I went in the busy lunch time rush but my burger still came out quickly. The staff were friendly even though they were really busy. It was a very smooth operation and I love the bar! Frozen cider is such a great idea - I can't wait to try it next time.

I got the Hot Mama which tasted amazing. I also tried some olives which is something I usually wouldn't order but they were really nice. I was worried they might just be typical olives from the jar but it was a really nice mix.

This place is so convenient in the city, I plan on visiting frequently.

Lunchtime rush makes me sad. Took a stroll down the road from the office to have some delightful burgers at the newly opened Grill'd @ Wintergarding during the diabolical lunchtime rush. The decór is cool and industrial, with a fast foody like order taking area. The staff were friendly yet efficient.

IMHO both the burgers that my friend and I tried were quite delicious, the patties were juicy and the the other fillings were fresh and flavoursome. The buns were also fine. The herbed chips are noteworthy: crunchy, with a lovely savoury salt sprinkling, which I found very moreish! The chips are almost delivilishly good but not quite...

My only beef (pardon the pun) is with the wait - 40 mins elapsed between ordering and receiving our burgers; albeit, we did attend at an impossibly busy time and one did see the frantically speedy staff. Perhaps I'll try again at a quieter time.

Verdict: Product is good; value for money is good; atmosphere is a-buzzin! Just avoid going during the lunchtime rush and you'll be served quickly.

The beef burger was as I expected, with fresh vegetables and ingredients (although as the meat is not rested, lots of ‘juice’ and sauce comes out of the burger when eating it).

Healthy, succulent, tasty, fresh, satisfying. These are not the words that are normally conjured up when we think of the word ‘burger’. But Grill’d is a restaurant that redefines what the burger is with its gourmet range of burgers that are healthy and are created from fresh, high quality ingredients. ‘Burgers made good’ is their philosophy and these could be the best burgers in town with their 100% hormone free beef and cage-free chicken burgers. From the initial conception in a pub, this humble idea has exploded in popularity with franchises in around 20 stores around Queensland. The one that I went to was the Wintergarden in Brisbane CBD. This restaurant isn’t like any fast food joint. It feels like a bar and you can order meals and alcohol at the counter. The waitresses are present only to seat patrons and deliver food and all orders are taken at the counter. This makes ordering prompt and the orders fly out of the kitchen quickly ensuring that the fresh, made to order bur

Obviously, of course, I'll be a customer as long as they continue to provide me burgers I love ...
Tammy
...isn't anything elaborate, but simple and novel. I like their overall presentation of both the place and the food, plus they give you an "emergency knife" for those who have hard time managing their burger... I had the Moroccan Lamb burger, which was better...

Grill’d in Wintergarden is an all rounder with funky atmosphere, friendly staff and amazing healthy burgers! What more can you ask of?

To be frank, a burger joint isn't a place I would usually think of to head out to dinner, for. On this evening, I was invited to Grill'd in Wintergarden, for their "After Hours Ping Pong" sessions - introducing a craze that has sweeped chic cities across the globe! And I say, about time a cool city like Brisbane caught up with the world! The Wintergarden restaurant is more of a concept store, with a different approach to their layout, compared to other branches across the country. It's located in a pretty hip precinct too, which helps lift is profile. Eating is quite communal, and at the same time, intimate enough to enjoy the company of those closest to you. My plus one ordered the "Summer Sunset" beef burger. This had grilled grass fed lean beef, crispy trim bacon, golden pineapple, salad, relish, and herbed mayo. It also comes with avocado, but my friend chose to have it without. I, on the other hand, had the "Mighty Queensland" - another beef burger, with egg, beetroot, bacon, chee

Ever heard of 'Ping Pong After Hours'? Well, if you haven't you should get yourself down to Grill'd Burgers in Wintergarden.. The idea started from the States where Ping Pong seems to be such a hit lately, but in down under, it doesn't seem to be..
Anasmusings
All the burgers were served on ridged plates, to ensure that the bottom of the burger doesn’t get soggy. But I’ll be honest – I’ve never had a soggy burger from Grill’d.

On Thursday evenings over the Summer you can drop in, order a burger and drink from the bar and then head up the back to the tables for some competitive paddle work. A DJ, some mood lighting and assorted stray ping pong balls that have escaped into corners, add to the atmosphere.

This beer garden style area overlooks Queen Street and is perfect for after work drinks with a bunch of friends. The fact it is very literally a hop and skip to the full service bar has nothing to do with why I tried to park myself there early in the evening.

H ave you been to the newly opened Grill'd Burgers in Winter Garden? All the cool kids on the block have been so it's about time you go! What's unique about this shop to the rest in the group? Let's see, you've got a bunch of energetic guys and girls dressed in checked shirts running around in sneakers with beaming smiles on their faces. The shop itself has retained its comic-walls as other Grill'd do but in addition to that, this Grill'd features a … bar, which is hidden at the back of the store next to a fake garden with colourful light bulbs and vintage watering cans hanging off the ceiling. We ordered a "Lick the Mule" ($9.00), a cocktail made with ingredients including vanilla vodka and ginger beer, it tasted surprisingly refreshing, yummy and very lick-able. Burgers tasted good as usual. I seriously urge all the burger lovers out there to try their "Hot Mamma", a burger that's stacked with grilled grass fed lean beef, roasted peppers, dill pickle, tasty cheese, tzatziki, salad

Just another Grill'd you might think, this time in the city. Wrong! This one has bells and whistles and a bar. It's still uber casual and burger themed but there's more, including steak knives. Yes, you can now cut your burger in two if you can't get your mouth around the whole thing. We all did it and the burger was most easier to eat. The Brisbane Wintergarden store is the first of a new concept roll out that offers a new menu with nibbles and a full serviced bar with beers, ciders and signature cocktails.
