Review Maya Mexican - Brisbane

M TF
We can't recommend Maya more highly. We recently visited Brisbane from Sydney for our anniversary and booked a table for the evening. It was beautiful. The excellent service started the moment we walked in the door and continued throughout our meal. The staff were attentive and friendly, and the welcome was almost as warm as the jalapeno in the mango margarita. Our waiter knew the menu back-to-front, explained everything well, and made excellent recommendations. Every dish we shared was fresh and full of flavour, made all the more enjoyable by the beautiful sunset over the city skyline. We've been to Mexican places before, but this was a real stand-out and, dare I say it, well worth the trip up the East Coast. We'll definitely be making this our go-to restaurant when we're in Brisbane. Had we been staying longer this trip we would have gone back in a heartbeat. Thank you, Maya, for making our anniversary so memorable.

Absolutely beautiful to look at and be in, helpful and attentive service, delicious food and plenty of gluten free options! We will definitely be back asap. Thanks for a wonderful lunch and what a view!

What a great place this is. Definitely my favourite rooftop bar in Brisbane. Super eclectic vibe, great food and AMAZING cocktails. Absolutely love the place. Staff are super helpful. And the views are nothing short of amazing! Try to book a booth if you going in a group... Also was so pleased with the food options given I am a vegetarian...loved the food!

We had a 30th birthday celebration here and we had the set menu, it was great! Everything was so well presented and the waiters explained the dishes on arrival. The calamari was my favourite along with the fish tacos and pork belly crisp bites. If you like spicy cocktails the mango jalapeño and the chilli margaritas were so good 🌶 , my favourite was the lychee margarita.

We didn’t make a reservation but a guy(looks like a manager) recommended us to grab drinks first and gonna give us table when they got table. And we got a table after 7-8mins🙂 so lucky! Me and my partner had 8 cocktails (all on the menu haha) All cocktails was so good. Quality and taste were great My favorite is Nueva Vida is gin based cocktails, can feel some peach flavour as well. Food was good portion for me. So yum! Atmosphere is soooooo good. I like music and interior. They have DJ. Rooftop bar and view is great. Waiters are all friendly and kind! Will definitely come back next week sometime😃

Nice cocktails, good food and beautiful view!! What else do you want? We really enjoyed the whole experience, the food was a good surprise and we'll definitely be back. Thanks Maya.

Excellent carnitas tacos you could easily imagine eating along the sea of Cortez... Australia may not be known for Mexican cuisine but Maya knows how to bring the flavor.

Innovative Mexican cuisine. I like the dishes I tried that day, enjoying the cool breeze in the semi-open space of the high-rise building, drinking cocktails, and live music on this night. I love this relaxing atmosphere. I will patronize again.🍹🍸

Beautiful surroundings and lovely environment. My review is based on the drinks. Poor selection of cocktails. They were not nice. The flavour combinations were not working And do not compare to nearby eateries/restaurants.

One of my favourite (rooftop) bars in Brisbane - great views, friendly and really efficient bartenders (who obviously enjoy working there) and a pretty decent cocktail collection. Would like to try some of the food there as well as some of the other cocktails they have.

There was a decent storm brewing the night we were there, so the blinds were down and we couldn't enjoy much of the view (Story Bridge and parts of the CBD). But at least we weren't rained in.

Just having moved to Brisbane- this is the kind of rooftop bar Melbourne people think Brisbane doesn’t have. It’s incredible as a springtime spot

Excellent venue with a cracking view. This is what every bar should be like. Do yourself a favour and have a cocktail on sunset and then party the night away!
Kathy
Fabulous views, great atmosphere but bar staff please speed up your act or employ some more! Third weekend in a row we have waited 20 minutes plus while previous cocktail orders are being mixed. We left to find another bar!
Lush!!!!
Cocktails on a rooftop done right. Eleven have nailed it. The decor is lovely, the view is awesome even on a moody Brisbane day.
Food was yum.
Service could not have been better.
Highly recommend a visit to this place.

Have been to Eleven many times, from a quick cocktail with friends to a full evening in a booth. The food is delicious, more expensive than your average bar. When the weather is good and the blinds are up the view is also fantastic

The waiter and staffs were very nice and the view fabulous! The prices are quite high but the food was good, however the cocktails could be better.

Some of the best bartenders in Brisbane are at Eleven. They’ll go out of their way to understand what you like, and make you a bespoke drink. They’ve even done this when it was peak time on a Friday night. Great music, atmosphere and the view is 10/10.

Came up for a drunk with some friends. The view is fantastic and the DJ's cool tunes add to the hipster vibe of this place. My mohito was nice and I would be keen to return to try the nibblies.

Came up for for a couple of drinks on Sunday and had there cocktail tap and was not disappointed, the blond haired bartender was really helpful and knew what he was talking about when recording a wine to my friend. The afternoon was the best to look over the valley and forget all the problem
Of working on Monday!!. I asked the well dress waiter what would he recommend of the food menu as a light meal as I watch the afternoon flys by. So I got the sliders and squid and was not disappointed the portions where really generous. I will be back for more Sunday sesh.

One of the best venue where to spend your weekend in the Valley!!!
you won't be disappointed and prepare yourself for the best mixology in the citt

Super cool very up market bar. Be prepared for the humidity if your not a local. Drinks are a plenty and the view is spectacular. Really enjoyed the Aperol spritz.
Well worth the visit, great for groups.

Just love this bar....food on point, nothing to really rave about, but substantial suits the environment and quick on service. Ambiance and view here is amazing, all the lovely's are out and it's pretty special to view Brisbane from such heights. Drinks are pretty special and another great night in a pretty cool venue.

Think this might have one of the best rooftop bar views in Brisbane. That's the main reason why I'm giving them such a high score. Ive had food here before but never came back for the food again. The drinks are very pricey but with such a nice view, it's worth it. Sundays are awesome as they have a good DJ playing some good chill out songs. Their Bloody Mary's are nice but unfortunately not consistent. The first one I got was beautiful and the one after was way too watery and had no kick to it. This place can get very busy so would recommend getting there as early as possible to get a good seat.
I Ate My Way Through
It might be easy, on first visit, to miss the somewhat nondescript office building that houses Eleven Rooftop Bar on its roof. 30 seconds in the elevator and stepping out into the expansive space though, you can be sure you’ll remember it for next time.

It's not the highest, or the biggest but this bar sure packs a punch when it comes to sunset views of Brisbane's city skyline. Positioned on floor 11, Eleven Rooftop Bar offers much to like with 270-degree views over the central city hub and Fortitude Valley. The decor draws inspiration from rooftop bars in Istanbul and Bali's Potato Head and Ku De Ta, and I certainly got that vibe. There's no beach stretching out the front like Ku De Ta, but both venues share a relaxed feeling that makes it easy to stretch a few drinks into a big night out. Not surprising considering the place was established by frequent Bali visitor and established restauranteur Jason Coats, who also owns The Jetty at South Bank and Bulimba.

Haven't eaten here, but have been for drinks. Great views of the city, and awesome for people-watching. It's a fab place for over 30s, but there are quite a few young ones, too. I witnessed some 20-something girls trying to get older men to buy them shots of vodka. Didn't turn out quite how they planned... It was hilarious to see young blonde women get shut down by older guys.

I love a great rooftop view, and Eleven certainly has that- but everything else was a bit of a miss. I wouldn't go back or recommend it except for a fantastic view.
We went at 6pm on a Saturday- dance music was pumping so loudly it made it difficult to talk. When ordering cocktails, the bar staff seemed more interested in joking with each other than answering my questions about their potentially very interesting cocktail menu. The wait staff were lovely and very attentive. The share plates we had were good but nothing special. Overall it was a disappointment- if you took away its view Eleven would be a snobby, mediocre bar lacking the ambience a place with such a nice position could really master.
Tastes Like Regret
Fantastic view! V. swanky. Buzzing atmosphere. Better dress up for this. Drinks overpriced but look absolutely divine. Props to the busy bartenders.

To be honest, I guess you can't expect greatness from a bar. It was ok, well presented but lacking in flavor. In other words, I would stick to the cocktails.

The views and the djs music is the only 2 good things about this place the the food is expensive average at best and limited choices. Well the service is arrogant to cool for school these kids. We had been drinking in a nice position that we finally got for 2 hours & spent a few hundred dollars when a waitress come over and placed a reserved sign on our table and told us we would have to move soon what a joke

This place is a joke! Customer service was appalling- not friendly, not helpful and definitely not professional. We had 25 people for lunch and when we arrived our tables weren't even ready so people just stood around for about 1 hour. There was no communication and frankly, it was embarrassing. The kitchen was meant to close at 3 but we still weren't even seated by 3pm (booked for 2pm). When we finally got our seat, we were rushed to order, some people actually missed out- my partner being one of them. I ordered bottles of wines for the tables and asked the waitress to tell me when they were empty so I could purchase more. Seems they weren't interested in making a profit because nobody advised me when they were empty. Later when the cake came out, they chopped the whole thing and place it on every empty bench they could find along the bar where none of us where standing. This was their very direct way of trying to get us to move from our booth. The ONLY thing this place has going for it is the views. I would not recommend this place to ANYONE! My girlfriend wanted to have her hens night there and I strongly recommended against it- saved her the headache. With half of my party coming from Melbourne and Sydney, this venue makes Brisbane look bad.

Quite honestly the WORST customer service experience I've ever had. I made the mistake of complaining about the quality of my first drink and was subsequently 'punished' when I tried to purchase a second later on. My punishment was delivered by serving several people who arrived at the bar after me before me. Now the first time I could put down to confusion (and other people forgetting their manners and pushing in). The place was busy. When it happened the second time I spoke up and mentioned this customer had been lining up behind me and that I'd been waiting for some time. The bar tender laughed and ignored me again. When he finally took my order (I asked for a cocktail and was told we're not doing cocktails, so I settled on a vodka lime soda) he also took another ladies order - no worries, multitaskings ok - but finished serving her drinks, taking payment, giving change and still hadn't finished making mine. He then took another order. I couldn't have been made to feel more insignificant, invisible, humiliated or embarrassed. Then I also noticed several patrons with cocktails! Certainly spoilt for me what was supposed to be a nice night out with the girls. It might be called 11, but I'd barely give it a 1. A bar tender who rivaled the soup nazzi!

To start this my father is a bouncer for a nightclub in the
u.k and by listening to the stories he has had to deal with I have the utmost
respect for bouncers with regards to everything they do and have to deal with.
That being said I am deeply concerned by the actions of 2 members of bar Eleven
(1 bouncer and the Bar Manager) last night (Friday 19th February
2016)

6 of us (3 guys 3 girls) tried to enter bar eleven, yes we
had a few drinks at the previous place but was no way intoxicated and was
thoroughly enjoying our night with no trouble. The bouncer with a smirk on his
face said he’s not letting me in because I’ve got a smile on my face and I’m
too happy. I was standing there in shock and not sure if he was joking because
he was looking at the bar manager and they were laughing at us and saying
‘shall we let them in’ to which the bar manager replied ‘no they look too happy
to come in here’ and was goading us.

After standing there and being what I felt was bullying from
the 2 staff we walked away from the venue surprised that such an establishment
can hire 2 people like that and bring the reputation down. After walking away
from the venue it actually gets worse. We were approx 50 metres away and
walking away from the venue to which the bar manager decided to come chasing
after us shouting ‘why are you looking back at us’ he had his arms open like he
wanted a fight. I walked back towards him and to be honest at this stage I was
getting very irate shouting back at him to which he then head-butted me and was
trying to have a fight.

With what’s going on in QLD with all the violence and
unfortunate deaths we don’t need or expect bar staff and bouncers to create trouble
and try to cause fights. If they acted like they did to the wrong people out
there this situation could have got more out of hand very quickly.

The view is awesome and the staff (most of them) are really nice! I am not really sure about the receptionist - the Australian Miley Cyrus - she seemed unhappy and didn't show any enthusiasm working with customers, definitely not passionate enough. However, the bartenders and the guys on the floor did an amazing job! This place is a Spot on.

The view is amazing and the buzzing atmosphere and friendly staff really made the evening! The food is slightly overpriced and quite mediocre, nothing stands out in terms of flavour or portion size. The drinks however were great, especially the cocktails which were gorgeous and beautifully made. No split bills and make sure to book beforehand if you're looking for a booth! Great location for a small gathering.

What a great menu! Along with the fabulous views and décor, the kitchen really enhances the experience here. We tried a couple of the nibbles & nourish snacks (different size plates are the difference. The standouts for us were the beautiful baby squid in Schezuan seasoning - so wonderfully tender, and the quesadillas, which were just tasty. The cocktails were less fabulous - all of them less sweet, which was great, but a couple not really as flavoursome as I would like. All the staff were pleasant and engaging, but I could see on really busy nights it could be a bit of a crush. I would recommend visiting midweek as we did to get the best experience.

Great views of Brisbane skyline, great fit-out/design/decor. We had 4x Old Fashion cocktails each and were happy with all of them! Didn't get to try the food this time but the bar & wait staff seemed friendly. Security was present but out of the way, also. The crowd is mostly well dressed and mostly in their 20's and 30's. On Friday night it was a bar - not a nightclub.

Overall, a great venue.

Oh, two Old Fashion cocktails will set you back $37 for both. A good price-point.

First of all, what a view! Bar Eleven's cityscape views rival any other bar that exists in Brisbane. This newly opened bar is set atop the streets of the Fortitude Valley, with a fantastic view of the iconic Story Bridge. We stopped in last Friday night to have a sneak peek and a quick drink after work. We both had a beverage from the house cocktail menu which were delicious but the second time around when we went to order a glass of wine it unfortunately took a while because the venue was so busy. I'm looking forward to a second visit in the future when it becomes less crowded and the service is more efficient.

A new venue from Jason and the team from the jetty, food is very much share plate style and good. The venue is awesome with City views with a good cocktail list to match... A must see and I will return to try the formal dinner menu
