It's best restaurant I have ever been in Australia. My family always love to go there. Fresh sushi ,hot pot with fresh vegie, seafood, and meat are just awesome. I want to go there everyday...
Fantastic place, wonderful food and excellent service. We Come down from the sunny coast just to have dinner. Thank you.
Best place in the world. I love it here. I'd move in if I could!!!
Great place, heaps of food very unique.
Would definitely go again
100% worth you’re money for the buffet. The often refill the platters when they’re empty. The hot food changes depending on the day. Their chicken wings are pretty decent. The sushi is pretty decent quality. I’m obsess their aburi.
Decent quality. Good selection of cooked for especially for the sushi section. Was pleased with the quality of cooked food, the raw meat section was a little sparse but it was enough. The only downside is that the service is quite bad in terms of speed and cleanliness.
My partner and I had dinner at the Shabuhouse on Saturday at 7pm because we heard about the sushi and hot pot buffet. We are definitely going to come back! We enjoyed the meal and the selection of sushi and hot pot options were fantastic. The food was very fresh with sushi being restocked as soon as the plate was empty. The waiters and waitresses were brilliant, very friendly and super efficient with the amount of people in the restaurant. We are going to recommend the Shabuhouse to all of our friends.
Japanese shabu shabu and sushi buffet is a definite must try on Brisbane, to be honest $34pp for your choice of both shabu shabu and a large selection of sushi dishes is definitely a winner!! The sushi section was so good! Sushi was constantly made by sushi chef as they all were gone really quickly - meaning each flavour/roll you get is really fresh, the only down side was the minimum choices you had to add into your shabushabu.
Buffet amazing price 39$ pp
You can cook your own hot pot so many options .. and also pick up amazing fresh sushi for your own table :) no need to share your space with others. Easy to use hot pot. Staff will help and explain on first visit if needed to
Drinks available.
Have been coming back to this restaurant for many years.. only downer is parking we always park in paid parking but I'm sure if you know the area you could find some free parking in the city:)
I visit this restaurant often and with a big group. I booked it several times for 20+ party and company party. They have big function rooms which is rare in the city, and kids eat cheaper. It is a buffet, so everyone has something they like. Birthday cake is allowed to bring in. They have a good range of drinks, including sake and non- alcohol cocktail. Refreshing to drink with big meal of meat and seafood. If you want to eat seafood and meat, this is a great place, and you have other hot food, like fried chicken, chips and such. Sushi menu covers Aussie favourites, and I like how they have various fresh vegetable for shabu shabu. I heard they bring their meat every day which is very rare in Brisbane. Recommend for a good meal with small group or big parties!
Buffet is value for money. Their sushi buffet is delicious and fresh but you'll have to be attentive since its self service and they're all snapped up very quickly. Their stock is ok with three varieties. Buffet also includes vegetables for your soup, beef pork, fish and several other fried foods. Lots of things to eat while you wait for your stock to be ready for cooking
We had walked past the signs for Shabuhouse many times when on the way to other intended destinations in the city, and thought that we should try it out, but somehow not gone there until we had a friend visiting, and another place she had wanted to eat at was not available. We made a reservation ahead of time, just to be sure we would get a table (it can be done via the website), and with the confirmation, were warned that they would only hold the table for 15 minutes if patrons were running late. We were also to be sure to book in for as early a sitting as we could fit, as one does for buffet places, and having read someone else’s review stating that although Shabuhouse closes at 10pm, they stop replenishing the food at 9pm.
Amazing. So much good sushi and so fresh. Even hotpot ingredients were good. Grilled salmon aburi was amazing. Order system for table service also very effective.
Winter in Australia is a perfect time for some hot soup. I long for hotpots or shabushabu anytime during a year, but especially when it's cold outside, I don't know anything better than full pot of flavorful broth. I have been in Shabuhouse both for lunch and dinner. We had group of friends dining together or it was just two of us. Shabuhouse is a great place both for parties or just romantic dinner for two people - if plenty of good food is romantic enough for you 😅😍
Location: Brisbane CBD. Very spacious and quite clean for an all you can eat buffet.
Service: Not much service required as it was a buffet but staff were very welcoming and were happy to assist or explain how the hotpot works.
Food: All you can eat Japanese Hot Pot and a selection of Sushi. Sushi was freshly made and had a wide selection of Nigiri which was very pleasing. An addition of sashimi would bring this buffet to another level.
A choice of three hotpot broths as well as a wide range of veggies and meat. Would have liked to see fish/meatballs or other steam boat selections as well as other choices of meat apart from the frozen rolled beef and pork.
Price: For $37.50 all you can eat on a weekend is quite affordable and great for the heavy eaters. Definitely recommend. Also important to note that unlike many buffets, Shabu House were not strict on a penalty for uneaten food - Instant half a point for this`
Great value for money shabu and assorted sushi. Arrived right at opening time and got a decent seat. Place started filling up reasonably quickly. Felt quality and flavours were good, on balance with the price for buffet. Wife and son also enjoyed the experience. Good central location.
A very enjoyable evening with food and ambience that pleased even my picky (and loveable) Japanese mother-in-law and wife. Great choice of fresh veggies, marbled meat, sushi and hot foods such as chicken wings. Very pleasing service by manager Kwong. Decent selection of beers and cocktails -- and sake. Very good value for $34 per person all you can eat. We will be back with family for special occasions -- and when we are really hungry!
Nice concept. Friendly service prompt also. Great for groups. Always come here for family birthdays. Can choose from three soup bases and great sushi range.
Pretty good. Sushi were tasty and there were quite a few ingredients for hot pot. Hot food especially fried chicken was delicious. Only downside was that when I went, many people had to wait a while for some popular items to be refilled (e.g. hot and spicy soup and korean fried chicken).
How crazy is this place??!!
Its like Korean BBQ because you get to cook your own but its for soup!
Fantastic Japanese buffet. The layout could be better but for my first time, it is awesome!
It waas so busy when we came, lucky we booked I wouldn't recommend coming here without a booking as its so busy.
One of my favourite restaurants in the city! All you can eat Japanese hotpot, hot food and gourmet sushi for around $30 (depends on which day you go). Great value! I love that everyone gets their own little hot pot, and there are 3 broths to choose from - a spicy, miso and fish-based. I always get half miso and half fish. You can fill up your hot pot with vegies, beef, pork and seafood. In terms of hot food, there's usually tempura vegies, chicken wings (a sticky honey soy flavour and deep fries ones), potato croquettes plus more.Sushi-wise, my favourite is definitely the seared salmon and scallop, there's a host of other varieties like tataki beef, spicy chicken - I would say at least 10 different ones. Definitely order a jug of the house-made iced tea - I love the tropical and pomegranate flavours! (PS. You can park at Festival Towers and get your parking validated for $7.)

I can only say positive things for this restaurant. The moment we stepped into Shabuhouse I could tell that a pleasant time was to be had. The decor and space was fantastic. Tables weren't crowded together and it was very comfortable. The concept is basically "all you can eat" hot pot and sushi.
For $33.90 this is an amazing place for friends, couples and children.
There was an open sushi bar which had so many varieties and all freshly prepared. Each catering to everyone's taste.
The hot pot section had various broths to choose from, with a broad selection of vegetables, condiments, noodles and meats.
The drinks menu was also fantastic, cocktails were reasonably priced and the jugs of house made ice teas were a bit of fun too. Lots of fresh fruit & packs a punch full of flavour.
Staff were very attentive, polite and made you feel very welcome.
The only suggestion I would have to Shabuhouse is to offer some sort of dessert. Whether this be a small ice cream buffet consisting of green tea ice cream, black sesame ice cream etc. Otherwise the option of a dessert menu at an additional cost would even be nice just to have.
Will definitely be back! Such a fun, interactive, delicious time is to be had.
Been here so many times, and is definitely one of our all time favourites here in Brisbane. Unlimited Hot Pot (beef, pork,, veggies and more!), Sushi (seared salmon, our fav goes like hot cakes, so be quick!) for less than $35. That's pretty gewd. Such a lovely hip and cute restaurant and quite a large space. Perfect for all occasions, even that first date!
One of the best hot pots in Brisbane in my opinion for all you can eat. There is so much range - you have your standard hot pot selection, hot foods including okonomiyaki and agadashi tofu as well as a sushi selection as well. Everything is nicely presented and clean, compared to some of the other hot pots I've visited. It's a 30 dollar price tag, which I think is alright for the range that you get. I find hot pot can be a bit bland somtimes so it's good being able to have more range in terms of hot foods and sushi.
Been to Shabu House three times now, and love it every time. It's a Japanese/Korean style hotpot, with all you can eat Sushi. Three choices of hotpot broth, I always choose the Miso base. The hotpot ingredients are typical Shabu style, and the sushi is excellent. There is a tonne of different flavoured Sushi too. You really want to try the grilled salmon or scallop. Delicious. But it goes very quickly, and they only make it every 15mins or so. Basically, once it's out, it goes in seconds. Literally! Try to come on a Sunday-Thursday, as it's $3 cheaper than Friday and Saturday.
This place was amazing! Came here for my birthday with the family on Sunday night and was so impressed. The Miso base soup for Shabu Shabu was so good. The tempura and sushi was delicious as well. Obviously not as good as it is in Japan, but it comes close! Definitely recommended!
It is quite a large restaurant that is specialising in Shabu Shabu (Japanese Steam-boat) idea. You can choose the buffet menu (all you can eat) which includes varieties of sushi that are continously preparing by the chefs standing behind the sushi display counter. I like the idea of freshly prepared sushi, however, the main theme of Shabu Sahbu is problematic. The varieties of foods are limited and soup bases lack the corrsponding flavour. Hopefully they will amend it in the future. May check one day.
My go-to place for sushis!
Shabuhouse was a great dinning experience and a surprising find in the Brisbane CBD! For any Lover of Japanese cusine this is a must. Amazing food, delicious, different and such good value.
Hidden gem. I am kicking myself for not finding this place sooner...all those meals wasted at little lamb and antarctic circle.
Very good value for money, for $33 you get buffet shabu shabu and very fresh sushi.
The ingredients for shabu shabu was adequate but the meat was very good, the broth was tasty too.
Great variety of sushi!
Staff were very friendly and accommodating.
Would definitely recommend!!
AMAZING. This Japanese buffet restaurant is amazing!
Great service, amazing food, reasonable price and great atmosphere.
There were a lot of people jam packed which I had to wait and line up to get seated.
Even though I waited for a while to get seated because of so many customers; it was really worth it and I would love to recommend it to everyone to try it out!
There are so many types of sushi you can try out, there are also hot food which is also delicious and hot pot with meat, seafood, vegetables and etc.
It was so amazing, I would definitely come back to this restaurant to also try out the restaurant next door!
Love it!
Consistently good quality.. For japanese food made by korean people this place has consistenly nice food at a reasonable price
Yum! The sushi was amazing, as was the other hot good. Would definitely recommend. Great value too.
Hidden gem in the city! Everything is so fresh and delicious I would definitely come back to this place!
Nice idea. Headed here for dinner last weekend. The interior is like a cafeteria, so not the most visually appealing. And I found the large televisions showing animal documentries a bit weird and distracting. But the food part of it was interesting. If you're hungry then it'd be worth the money with the all-you-can-eat sushi, fried food and shabu shabu. A fun night with drinks and having a try of a little bit of everything. Good night for a group of friends, not a romantic dinner for two.
Cheap shabu shabu buffet. Very good value for money and great way to relax with group of friends and have decent feed for a reasonable price. 3 stocks to choose from and the fish is great. Lunch menu includes large prawns and some octopus - prawns good, octopus somewhat tough also had thinly sliced beef, frozen fish balls which were very tasty, veges. Cooked dishes included teriyaki chicken, fried crispy chicken (yum) fried noodles, and fried rice. Other dishes were a small range of sushi and raw noodles to include in the hot pot. All in all, while not the best Japanese, certainly fabulous value.
Absolutley amazing experience... Food is fresh, tasty and healthy...
We will be back with the family
Good value for money. Make.... Good value for money.
Make sure you only grab what you know you'll be able to eat and finish otherwise they charge you 20 dollars for any food left on the table ! Saves wastage!
Good value for Shabu Shabu in Brisbane. I must say that Shabuhouse is good value for all you can eat shabu shabu in Brisbane. (Of course it still can't compare to other cities)
I am quite happy paying $29.90 for all you can eat shabu shabu which includes enokitake mushrooms , seafood(prawns, blue swimmer crabs, octopus), sushi and hot food.
Unlike most all you can eat places, there is no time limit.
The Japanese lovechild of Vapiano's and Sizzler. My friend and I went here last week after trawling Urbanspoon for something a little different. Boy am I glad we chose this little wonder. The restaurant is housed on the second floor of a building in Mary St and literally looks like the Asian version of Vapiano's. Everything is light wood with bright lighting and adorned with artificial green shrubs. After arriving our adorable waiter showed us to a table and offered to show us around after noticing we were clearly out of our depth. Basically you've got a sushi and sashimi buffet, a small hot food/deep fried buffet and then the shabushi station. After stuffing ourselves on a wide but fairly bland selection of sushi we ordered a pot of orange and mint tea (at the suggestion of our waiter) which was definitely a good choice. We then made our way to the Shabushi station where we each collected a pot of Tom Yum and Tradition Oyster & Fish soups and brought them to our table/stove where we set them to heat. We then went to choose our vegetables, noodles, meat, fresh seafood and sauces, where they would eventually be scoffed down after boiling briefly in the soup. A word of warning; due to the nature of the cooking it can get quite messy so be sure to avoid wearing anything that easily stains. Overall a delicious, well priced, generously stocked and fun way to spend an evening. Can't wait to go again!
New Favourite Place. Plus:
- Self serve (don't have to wait)
- Really fresh food
- Awesome dining experience, could be great for a corporate dinner or get together
- Modern fit out, really clean
- Secluded (being upstairs from Mary Street)
- Selection of all you can eat sushi, hot pot or savory dish
- If you don't like seafood, there are still many options
Minus:
- A little pricey for a 'meal' but it ends up being value for money.
Notes:
Photos/Website doesn't do it justice.
Went here for dinner last night. I would have to say only reasonable quality food , but as it is a buffe, there is plenty. One thing worthy of mention is that there are signs everywhere saying if you leave any food, you will be charged an additional $20. Kind of makes you feel like a kid being told to eat all your dinner. I assume they have had issues with people filling their tables with food then leaving. All in all I'd give it a 6 out of 10
This place has a trendy ambience which is also relaxing. The buffet food is laid out well and the quality of ingredients provided is quite high. It also has sushi options which is fresh and yummy!!Definitely will return loke always :)
Pretty good. This is pretty good, but not as nice as Antarctic Circle at Underwood. Unfortunately Underwood is a much longer drive for us so it is nice to know there is a close Shabu shabu option.
Fast, fresh, fantastic. I have been here for lunch twice now. I love the beef shabu and the broth is so delicious. There's plenty of seating so this is a great place to take larger groups of people for lunch. Lunch is cheap and service is fast, efficient and fairly friendly. The only downside in my opinion (being someone who's not hugely competent with chopsticks) is the metal chopsticks. Makes fetching noodles out of soup a very messy business :)
Reasonably priced guilt free meal. Simple and cheap for city restaurant. Nice ambience. Their citron tea was really good.
8/10 - will return. Stumbled upon this place after a spot of shopping on a Friday night. The decor is fresh and original, with diners separated by open shelving with pot plants throughout. It took a long time for staff to take our order as our table was "out of order" and did not have a buzzer, they promptly moved us to a new table once discovering this. Individual hot pots is an excellent idea, with each diner being able to select additions to their own dish. The choice of broth is minimal (3), however this is all that is needed as 3 additional dipping sauces are available. The meat was frozen which I have no issue with as it tastes the same once cooked. My friend and I opted for the blueberry/pork/mozzarella sushi as it sounded unusual, it was however sold out for the evening (disappointing). We instead went for karaage with mustard and sweet chilli, too much sauce and better sushi can be found on queen st mall. Korean sweet tea was amazing and a must try! Owner was walking the floor an making sure everyone was enjoying their night, something which I love to see at restaurants. Good food, but some hiccups in terms of service. They split the bill which is an advantage when eating in groups.
Awesome for group dinners. BYO plus excellent, affordable food and the novelty of Shabu cooking. Decent sushi, and the softshell crab is brutally good. Get yourself there with seven mates and a carton of good beer, and your night is made.
Fresh, fun and good value for money for lunch!
One of the things I enjoy most in winter is Hot Pot, where you and a group of people sit around a simmering pot of soup, and toss in raw meats and veges to cook it yourself. Its homey and warms you right up. Its one of those seasonal things that can be compared to eating ice cream in winter (i.e. only for those who are not faint at heart). Being someone who likes to challenge theories, I went to Shabu House despite it being summer. Upon arriving, I was pleasantly surprised to find the place to be relatively busy for a weekday. We asked for a table of three and were promptly seated. There are three choices of soups being Tom Yum, Miso and Fish. I opted for miso. Now in my opinon, what sets Shabu House apart from all its other competition (Little Lamb, Bestaurant, 100 degrees hot pot) is that other than just hot pot, you also get to choose from a large selection of sushi. There were quite a few seafood options, including crab, salmon and tuna, in addition to chicken and California rolls. In my opinion, for a store that sells such a broad variety of foods, one cannot hold too high an expectation for the quality of individual dishes. To this note, Shabu House offers sushi of quite a high quality. I have had sushi in quite a number of more general buffets and each time I have found it to be quite horrible. No doubt it is not up to the same quality as Sushi Train or Oishii, but I found it to be really quite decent. The rice was well seasoned, the fish was fresh and the turnaround was high. In terms of the hot pot itself, there was a large variety of foods to cook. For its seafood selection, it had some fish, prawns, octopus and mussels. Pretty decent for $32. Water, like everything else was on a DIY basis. In terms of meat, they have pork and beef as well as chicken. They also have a nice selection of noodles which you can also cook in the pot. Aside from this, they also have a number of pre cooked hot food such as fried chicken wings and fried rice which I didnt try (bec

It has an Japanese feel to it, except had it been in Japan it wouldn't be so spacey. Love the atmosphere and surroundings. You need to be okay with loud noise though, its definitely not a quiet dining experience.
...edible but not fantastic. Its a massive let down to me that the hotpot which is the main draw of the restaurant was so poor. The stock was terrible and it took a long time for it to boil down to a drinkable state.
Absolutely incredible selection of all-you-can-eat sushi, shabu hotpot soup and chicken!! Everything was delicious and really great quality. Service was A+, extremely quick and attentive. Great atmosphere and fun environment. Highly recommend and one of the best restaurants Brisbane has to offer. Will return to show all my friends this amazing restaurant! 10/10 must try!!
First time experience with my friend from New Zealand. We both loved everything and quality was great for the price and location. The waiter was incredibly attentive and quick to assist. Definitely one of the best restaurants I've been to :)
Wonderful selection of sushi, had 4 or 5 different hotpot soups to pick from, various meats, vegetables and premade foods to choose from. It is quite expensive but quite worth the experience.
I’ve been to Shabuhouse quite a few times.
Before Covid-19 the experience and food tasted a lot better then now. The sushi is still good but the options now are very limited.
Staff are friendly. The pricing is quite expensive.
Hopefully, Shabuhouse will eventually be at the level they were at before Covid-19.
Loved it. Quality of the food is very high, even for fussy me.
Sesame dressing was exceptional as well as the pork. Soup base choices were great too.
I'm hungry just thinking about it again.
Missing is the fruit, watermelon etc, to finish off the meal.

OMG all you can eat sushi. Need I say more.
Clean and tasty. Go and try this place it’s amazing.
The best experience in my life in Brisbane! The restaurant itself is amazing, really clean and I have never seen so kind staff. The food is just gorgeous, the best hotpot ingredients and the soup was delicious. I’m considering going again as soon as I can! Thank you Shabuhouse for this wonderful experience
