Friday night dinner here, we had lasagna and pasta, food was beautiful, good attentive service and a relaxed atmosphere, nice looking restaurant. Will be back.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Warm and inviting atmosphere. Been here several times and always enjoyed the experience. Also a great selection of wines. Would like to see another vegetarian option on the menu.
Had the most beautiful dinner here last night. My partner and I have been trying to find the best Italian restaurant in Brisbane and we think we've found a strong contender.
I had the spaghetti carbonara, which was made in traditional italian style. It was absolutely delicious! My partner had the linguini marinara and loved it. For dessert, we had the pannacotta and cannoli, both of which tasted amazing. We will definitely be back again to try the rest of the menu. đ
Had a beautiful dinner on a busy Saturday night here at La Famiglia! Unfortunately we had to sit outside (near the walkway entrance) so we missed out on air-conditioning and the ambience, but the food itself was delicious! We had seen the menu here on Zomato and were really looking forward to the gnocchi, however they only make gnocchi on certain weekdays (apologies I can't remember which days). Our group had the special bruschetta with fior de latte and the arancini, the latter being the better of the two. For mains we tried the lasagne, ragu (gluten free) and the orcecchiette - all were very fresh, large in size and full of flavour. The dessert plate was by far the highlight of the night - for just $26 you get to sample all of their desserts, of which we all had our favourites (the nutella mousse was universally loved although). Service was friendly and rather prompt considering how busy they were, however they did forget to bring out a glass of Coke and our bottle of Prosecco took about 25 minutes to come out. If they hadn't have taken as long we probably would have ended up buying two bottles during the night. All in all we would definitely recommend La Famiglia!
Fantastic! Delicious! Excellent service! Almost EVERY meal was made to be gluten free, important as I am celiac, and the food was amazing. The staff were so friendly and seemed to generally care about every customer. Could not recommend enough!
Just when I thought Friday couldn't get any better, along came lunch at this gorgeous bistro. Classic Italian dishes executed expertly with a side of personality & familial charm. Our 2 mains & shared focaccia were a delight.
The deceptively simple focaccia almost left us nowhere to go in both size and taste. It was a deadset flavour bomb, exploding complexity in every bite - soft & dense inside, chewy crispy edges with pops of fresh basil sweetness & glistening olive oil drizzled on top. An unexpected highlight.
La porchetta was bliss on a plate. Juicy, tender pork belly: full stop, say no more. But then...the amazing pancetta, sage, parmesan & bread stuffing & sweet potato accompaniment was next level. Most the braised kale was kindly gifted to me while Work Bestie crunched through the wonderful crackling, eyes rolling back in her head. Yup: bliss.
My garganelli al ragu was pasta at its finest. The delicate structure of the aldente pasta tubes held the tomato sauce & rich slow cooked meaty chunks beautifully.
There's a great wine list for all tastes & budgets with an array of local & Italian varietals. That said, we fully appreciated the cheapass option of a carafe for our quick lunch. (Woohoo a carafe?! Viva l'italia!!)
Lovely waitstaff exuded warmth & enthusiasm as did chef/owner Cos who happily chatted with diners. Thank you for taking time out from the kitchen to share your passion with us.
When chefs care enough to adopt seasonal menu changes, how can we not eagerly anticipate returning?? And what about gnocchi Tuesdays? Pffft see you again real soon Cos & Deb. đ
Great Italian food without flying there!
My husband and I ate here on a Tuesday night. We shared the meatballs, then ate the meat ragu pasta and the 4 cheese gnocchi. All handmade and you could tell. Absolutely delectable! It took us back to our Italian holiday. It was typical Italian flavours that you find off the beaten track, not the tourist fare in the big cities. This place does Italian food simply and very well. Great wine list and the service was efficient and friendly. We will come back with our friends in tow, although I want this to be my secret for a little while first! Thank you Cos and team for a great experience
We had a very nice meal here the other night, we ordered a number of dishes including linguine w clams and tomato, the pork belly, the fish of the day and the pasta w meat ragu for our mains. Then for dessert we had the strawberries and cream pannacotta and also the passion fruit cannelloni. All the dishes had great flavour and thoroughly enjoyed. The staff were friendly too.
I love this restaurant. The food is great, the owners are so lovely, the service is excellent and it's a treat every time we go.
The focaccia is delicious, the Italian donuts are yummy and the mains are always nice.
The only thing I would say is that the pork needs something with it as it's too overwhelming without some greens or potato.
They are very accommodating of children.
Tried La Famiglia last night in the gabba and this is one I would definitely return to!  The food was delicious (hate that word but struggling to come up with anything better as a description), and really reasonably priced.  Try the char grilled prawns, fabulous and the barramundi (fish of the day) was wonderful.  The olives were very moreish too.  The service was 5 star, very attentive but not pushy and very friendly.  Loved the restaurant manager and I take it, owner, lovely, warm person that made us feel very welcome (grazie mille :-))  Only slight downfall was the food got cold quite quickly as we sat near a door but when mentioned to the manager, she said they were going to do something about this and the room temperature was great ie not stifling like a lot of places in winter.  She also said she'd seat us somewhere else next time....and yes there definitely will be a next time.  Really enjoyed the experience, 5 stars!!  And gave Enotecca a run for their money as considerably cheaper and food just as good.
Meatballs And Beef Cheeks
+4.5
Ristorante La Famiglia serves up the best ravioli that I've ever eaten.
Not the best in Brisbane, or the best in Australia, but the best I've ever had in Italy and the US - the absolute best ravioli I've ever had in my life.
Why it has taken me months to write this review, I'm not sure. I was so blown away by the meal that Lady Meatball and I shared at Ristorante La Famiglia that I decided I needed to try them again before I made the claim that the ravioli were the best I'd ever had.
On the first occasion we enjoyed Arancini al Sugo, Polpette Sfiziose (Meatballs), Impetata di Cozze (Mussels), Ravioli and Cannoli.
The arancini were delicious (4), the mussels were fabulous (4), the spinach and ricotta ravioli were to die for (5) and the cannoli were the best we've had in years (4.5). The only dish that wasn't quite to my liking was the meatballs. The meatballs were tender and very enjoyable, but the owner's recipe calls for both fennel seeds and ground fennel seeds and it was a bit overpowering for me (my traditional meatball recipe does not use fennel in either form, but my grandmother was from a different part of Italy than Cosimo hails from). It is just personal preference, but for me the meatballs rated 3-3.5.
A few weeks later we returned with Friendly Meatball and ordered three orders of Ravioli, a few starters and the Lasagna della Mamma.
Our second visit confirmed that the Ravioli are transcendent. Lady Meatball and Friendly Meatball both agree that they are the best they've ever had as well. Again, the ravioli rated a 5.
A pleasant surprise was the Lasagna della Mamma. Like my meatballs, I am very particular about my lasagna. I cook my sauce (sugo or gravy as my Italian-American grandmother used to call it) for 6-8 hours, then layer my lasagna with love - just like my mother has done for the past sixty plus years.
Ristorante La Famiglia's lasagna is the best that I've eaten in Australia and is quite possibly the best I've ever eaten in a restaurant (outside of my family's own restaurant in the US) and rated 4.5-5.
For those of you who have followed my reviews for the past couple years will know how highly I regard 1889 Enoteca - Ristorante La Famiglia is right up there and is in contention for the best Italian in Brisbane. I highly recommend Ristorante La Famiglia and look forward to returning often!
Enjoyed some beautiful food & wine with girlfriends here on a Thursday night. The Wait staff were lovely & the food was well presented, fresh Italian I could eat every day!
My boyfriend and I came here for dinner tonight to try out the food. The service was good, and the staff were very friendly.
I ordered the Gorgonzola gnocchi, I really enjoyed this meal. The gnocchi was soft and fluffy and the Gorgonzola sauce was very smooth not too strong. The dish was also garnished with fresh basil which was a nice touch.
My Boyfriend ordered the Linguini Al frutit de mare, and unfortunately he did not share the same experience as me. Because I'm vegetarian I wasn't able to try his meal. He expressed that his meal had a over-bearing seafood kind of taste and that meal could be improved by adding a little bit more flavour like perhaps some garlic or more white wine.
Overall pleasant experience.
Came here for a Valentines Day dinner. Food was nice & serving sizes were huge...but service was SO slow. We spent 3 hrs here having the 3 course Valentines meal special with a drink. It wasn't cheap. But it is a beautiful restaurant with a high end feel. Would I return? Maybe. But not on an "event" night.
We went to this restaurant last night on Valentine's day for the first time and we'll definitely be going back. We met the owners Deb and Cos and were told that all the food is from where Cos grew up and made just like his Nonna used to make and my goodness did it taste that way! We had the beef carpaccio (spelling?), arancini balls (to die for!), ragu pasta (so good!), confit pork belly (pure deliciousness) and finished with the Nutella fondant and Nutella semifredo (don't go past the semifredo!!). The atmosphere was wonderful, staff very attentive, owners wonderful and enjoyed a bit of a joke and laugh with you. Restaurant was full so make sure you book so you're not disappointed!
Very good atmosphere. Excellent service. My favorite dish was pasta with broccoli and sausage. Will definitely come back again on Wednesday for the focaccia :)
Food was excellent- couldn't really fault the food or the service. Will be back. Only reason it lost 0.5 the noise in the restaurant, when two large tables arrived around us it made the restaurant really really loud.
Great new Italian restaurant! We went for a family birthday and the wait staff and food were excellent. If I could go again I would get a selection of entrees for the whole meal to enjoy as tapas, as the entrees were outstanding compared to what you would expect in terms of mains. Overall an excellent play to go for Italian.
Outstanding food not to mention excellent value for money!!! Banquet menu is incredibly generous and of very high quality. Service was also great, can't recommend enough!
Had an amazing night here for my birthday back in June. Got to meet the owner and the wonderful and attentive staff. We ordered slow cooked octopus tentacles and chargrilled King prawns with garlic, chilli and lemon salsa and for our mains we ordered linguini with king prawns and oven roasted pork belly! It was amazing! And of course, we had to end the night with the salted caramel chocolate tart and coffee. I'm looking forward to come back and eat my way through the menu. "Italian food is always a good idea"
I visited for Sunday lunch. The food is sensational and the family ambience, wonderful and welcoming. Nonnas meatballs, what can I say.....I dreamt about them last night! The sauce, omg! My partner had the barramundi..... Counting down the hours before I return.
The steak was quite amazing. For this dish alone I would return. The dessert was pretty but underwhelming. The octopus entrée was good but I've had much better (in flavour and texture).
Great food even better service and lots of Gluten free options! Pasta, mains and even a cinnamon donuts for dessert, GF heaven! Modern and fresh atmosphere felt welcomed from walking in the door. Will definitely be coming back :)
Satisfied & happy, greeted & made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived! Food cooked to perfection. Friendly & attentive wait staff. The restaurant has a relaxed feel with a sophisticated & modern interior! This newly opened Italian ristorante is a must do if you want great food & service with a smile. Do yourself a favour experience the newest kid on the block, That is Ristorante La Famiglia... You won't be disappointed! Nice to meet you & your crew Cosimo.. We will be back! Keep up the great work.
We went there at lunch time on last Tuesday, it was our first time there too. We have no idea what to order so I ask the owner (I guess) and he recommended us all of the dishes that turned out to be extremely wonderful! The best Panna Cotta ever! Highly recommended this place.
Price are reasonable as well with 1 entree, 2 main, 1 dessert and 1 beer. Only $110. đđ
Good Italian food, very taste. super Small menu and NO PIZZA! We donât eat most meat so we had a bit of a hard time finding something but we went for seafood pasta and fish of the day plus salad and it was all very nice. portions arenât overly huge, so better order a few items. Service friendly, nice cosy decent atmosphere. Parking is horrible! The restaurant is next to Gabba and we it took us a while to find a space and then we had to walk a while. I give five stars for food and service.
What a fabulous evening out at this family owned and run restaurant. The superb front of house service was matched by equally sublime food. The starter sharing board had plenty of yummy things to try my favourite being the cured ham and the cheese. Risotto and lasagne mains were decent portions packed with flavour. We finished our evening with the sharing dessert board with a âto die forâ Tiramisu and beautiful Cannolis.
A really special way to celebrate my wifeâs birthday with the family and weâll definitely be back again.
Parking was easy, restaurant was attractive and had heaps of atmosphere and child friendly. Staff were beautiful friendly and attentive. Food was amazing, from the foccia, to the mains to the desserts. Simply Delicious. You do however have to pay for good food!
We went in around 12:30pm and luckily there were only 3 tables, whichâs probably why we had exceptional services.
Very cozy and modern setup for the restaurant. Food was absolutely fantastic. La Porchetta is a must if you are a pork fan.
Will definitely go back.
Friendly atmosphere. The pasta was fresh and tasty, and dessert was solid. Enjoyed a very pleasant dinner here.
Great food and fresh. Salty on the palate, a tad overpriced for what the meal is, I didn't leave content.
Fantastic italian food with fantastic service, nuff said.
Only negative i would say is the place needs to share better pictures online because the food is way more pretty and gorgeous than shown.
