Review Taro's Ramen & Cafe - Brisbane

Fabulous ramen! Visiting from Sydney and had a craving, I ordered the vegan ramen (I added egg, not so vegan). It was delicious, quick to the table and the staff were friendly.

Instant ramen is better than this (honestly the Ichiran instant ramen is decent). It looks great but the broth was much too salty. The noodles were ok but the pork was leathery and lacked flavour. The staff member wasn't particularly friendly either which made the whole experience unpleasant.

So I ordered a Makanai ramen today. They used very old stiff noodles and the soup has no flavor whatsoever. I worked in Japan before, their Makanai is not this poor quality. It's like I'm eating a leftover 2 days ago here. I expect more because this cost 17.50 dollars and the noodles quality is not even close to the regular menus which are 18.50(1 dollar difference). If someone doesn't know how to make a Makanai, let a Japanese do. Probably one and done for me.

Super friendly staff, tastey ramen and excellent takoyaki. And they had the super hard to find asahi black! Definitely recommend

Fantastic service from everyone. Shout out to the Filipina lady who was professional friendly very courteous. Im Australian with filipino heritage and was glad to be served by this lady absolute gem. I hope the chef will remain japanese and staff to. However this Filipina is an exception and brings customer service and hospitality at a fine level. Maraming salamat. Arigatoo gozaimasu

Hidden in a building Shio (salted) ramen: light favor, similar to hotpot, curved noodles, 4 stars Spicy tonkatsu ramen: not that spicy, straight noodles, 5 stars

Half hour waits during dinner time which was very shocking to me as I've never experienced waits like that at any other ramen restaurant. It was easy to see that they didn't have enough staff and they all looked very stressed because of it. The food itself was pretty average. I've definitely had much better but the location was very convenient to get to from my hotel on Ann Street. I would come again at a quieter time if I found myself in the area but I wouldn't make a trip specifically to come here.

Finally, something close to admiralty precinct that is open at night beside eagle street pier which is affordable. Nice ramen and rice. Great location but not easy to find for newcomer on the upper floor. Affordable happy hours alcohol. Cutlery washing need slight improvement. Generally recommended!!! :) Ps: they listen to feedback and things continue to improve, upgrade from 4 to 5 stars!!! 5/22- Standard dropped. Entree served to wrong table and sat in the other table for a while b4 mistake was realised, not offered fresh serving, almost first to arrive but nothing served till 30 mins later while other later table had their food served earlier. Attempt to advice cashier of missed ramen but was given excuses rather than admit mistake. Disappointed since I have been a loyal customer for a long time. Dropped to 3 stars for this visit. Hopefully better service next time. PS: Pre-ordered Shabu-shabu this time, service still not the best but there was only 2 staffs in kitchen and floor. Kudos to the staffs but Taro should employ more ppl. Upgrade to 5 stars this time but won’t be so generous next time around. Extra star for covid recovery effort.
