Came here on a Sunday evening, the place was packed with people and that made it hard to find a seat. The kitchen was closed when I came, but there was a King of the Wings food truck just outside the venue.
Ordered and enjoyed the beer recommended by the friendly staff. The beer prices were reasonable too. They also serve a tasting plate for those who have difficulties choosing only one beer for the day.
Overall, a great place to come and chat with friends over beer.
Went here with friends for a weeknight catch up.
Good selection of beers available. Menu is not the same as the one on Zomato currently. There were limited options outside of shared platters. We ordered a couple of pies, which were still good. Food trucks circulate outside each night.
Casual ambience. Large airy area with plenty of indoor seating. Friendly service. Reasonable prices.
Overall, a good microbrewery for beers. Just lacking on food options.
Been here twice, nice venue. I like their beers and the seafood was alright. Definitely a place for shared eating, snacks and drinks, not your typical dinner.
I've found my way here chasing food trucks paired with a cheeky beer which has always been an enjoyable experiance, last night I went for beers are the seafood platter.. phenomenal! The seafood was fresh and full of flavour and didnt break the bank!
The staff are really helpful and friendly!
I will be back for sure!
We enjoyed a range of beers, tasting descriptions were spot on. Was there a little early so that atmosphere hadn't geared up yet. Pizzantica were serving which my company enjoyed. Will return again. Walked past with the King of the Wings food truck outside and the place was full with a good vibe...
UPDATE 22 May ... The Halfmast is light and a little fruity, recommended for an easy session.
Meatballs And Beef Cheeks
+3.5
I've been trying to get to Green Beacon Brewing Co. for nearly eighteen months, ever since Lady Meatball first came here and started telling me about the brewery with the food trucks.
She has been back several times, but the stars finally aligned and I made it here tonight. I definitely see the appeal...
9.5% alcohol Bourbon Barrel Aged Old Ale on tap (delicious - what Guinness wishes it was), great music and food trucks parked out front - what more could you ask for? More women...the men outnumbered the women nearly 7 to 1 on this evening (a bit of a kransky konvention).
As for the food trucks...Pizzantica on Mondays and Tuesdays, King of the Wings on Wednesdays, then others rotate through.
Only issue is no air conditioning. Big industrial ceiling fans help, but even with a break in the heat it was still a bit warm and humid inside the converted warehouse. Would be a 4 with air conditioning.
Definitely check this place out.
I agree with the previous reviewer. The beer, service, space is all fantastic. We love visiting Green Beacon. However.. the food. What happened? When Green Beacon first opened is was awesome. The seafood, platters, burgers were all delicious and the perfect accompaniment to the brews. The new food menu falls way short. The food trucks are okay, but I would prefer the original menu any day. It demonstrated a standard that set the place apart. Not so much now.
Great spot for a Sunday beer and food truck food. Love that they will throw out some special limited release beers every now and then for a surprise. Really enjoyed the nitro beer I tried a few weeks ago.
Green Beacon have a great variety of very nice beers, and their seasonals are excellent too. The place has a nice vibe and plenty of relaxed, comfortable seating. The food is pretty nice (if a little overpriced). My only gripe is sometimes when FB/IG says "***** food truck from 12pm" and you arrive at 12.30 for said food truck and get told "oh they're not coming til like 5pm now" and you've come for lunch it can be pretty annoying. Otherwise excellent beer, friendly and knowledgable staff plus super tasty beef jerky 😃.
This brewery is fantastic. Every beer I tried was really good. Staff was very friendly and prices were reasonable. What else can you ask for?
Oh yeah, stop in on a Monday and you'll get a pint for the price of a schooner!
Had some food from the regular food truck visitors "how we rolls". Shared the poutine and a beef roll, both were excellent and very tasty, great with a Green Beacon beer. The Porter was as good as ever and the limited release bourbon barrel strong ale was fantastic!
Just excellent, I love the staff, so friendly, all of the food vans (except 'how we rolls' - that is so awful I want to cry) are excellent! The beer is amazing and the atmosphere is relaxed. You have done well to balance great service with great beer. Well done.
The best local beer I can think of when I have some spare time to leave the house for a brew. Would recommend this to anyone in the local area! Get among it!
Best beers in brisbane! Great for celebration! However the drinks aren't the only good. The food is awsome as well. One of the best places in brisbane for enjoying!
I absolutely love Green Beacon! It's easily one of the best places to get a drink in the city. Staff are wonderful, vibe is great and beer is endless. Would recommend to anyone visiting Brisbane!
I had a great experience at Green Beacon. The food came out quickly and had great flavor, the service was the best for me though as everyone was really friendly and even came over and gave my dog some water and a treat. I'll definitely be back again.
You will find this place down a side street in Teneriffe. It feels hidden because it surrounded by office buildings and apartments and has a very relaxed vibe during the day . I went here for lunch with my husband on Wednesday as he wanted to try some of their beers. We tried two beers (they didn't have a tasting paddle which was a bit disappointing) the Wayfarer and the 3 Bolt Pale. We enjoyed the Pale ale and ended up buying more to takeaway. For lunch they have a very simple menu. (At night it looks like they get in different food trucks daily) We had bread and a tray of salami and a mushroom, pesto and mozzarella sandwich. Both were tasty and went well with the beer. The only drawback was the waitress didn't seem overly interested in serving us, we were greeted with a stare and she wasn't very welcoming. Other than what was hopefully one staff member having a bad day we enjoyed the beer and food.
Green Beacon Brewing Co is tucked up a very quiet side street just off Skyring Tce in Teneriffe. Â There is a narrow street frontage to this long galley style building. It is fairly obvious from the start that these guys love what they do. Â There is a decent range of beers brewed on site, along with a few seasonal specials. Â If you are not sure which to have just ask the friendly bar staff for a small try.
We called through here on a Saturday afternoon on a craft beer arvo with a few mates. Hadn't been here before & was surprised, was a good feel, plenty of people & sitting amongst the brewing vats was great. Food was little average but the beer on tap was great & the staff knew their stuff. Worth a return visit.
Great unpretentious vibe, my favourite spot for afterwork drinks. Staff are friendly and the beers are sensational. Ipa is insanely good. my only gripe is i wish they would turn the fans off in winter
A very cruisy and relaxed place for a casual night out with friends. No complaints about the food nor the drinks but the service was not bad but not good either. I can see from walking in that this joint oozed the "hipster" feel, but other than that, who's to say you had to be a hipster to enjoy craft beer.... as my fellow diner said to me. I'm not a beer drinker myself and really was just tagging along for the night and I get that this place is all about craft beer, but it would've been a bit nice if they had more than just 1 cider to choose from and that they could've at least given us more serviettes! they gave us 2, there were 8 of us! Nonetheless, I will not let 2 serviettes ruin my experience, but I think I'll leave this place to the cool hipsters...
Great place to drop in for a beer. The jerky is awesome except when you get a stingy serve.... This is a very genuine, relaxed brewery - highly recommend a visit
Great for celebrating!. Quality green beacon beers make the night, but the simple but tasty food options work well as well. Have catered for a party here before with platters - the staff made the event very smooth and all transactions easy. Recommend!
Staff who love their job....even the new guy who I bamboozled. We booked for a Saturday afternoon birthday, a couple of tables, about 20 pax, ploughman plates & beers. Friendly vibe as soon as you walk in (read no hipster attitude) and GREAT service. No problem to taste the beers, match with some food, offer a tip or two. Somehow the booking next to us merged into our tables - no problem, more the merrier. Overall a really enjoyable 5 hours of drinking & eating, the team at the Beacon welcomed our crew from toddlers, older couples & youngsters. I know the beer is the draw card her but for me it's the staff! Sorry there is no matching pic...to busy having fun
Seafood share plate is delicious. Husband and I had the large share plate of seafood which had good sized prawns, fantastic oysters and a succulent Moreton Bay bug. It certainly isn't enough to pass for a substantial lunch, but it was delicious and everything they brought out was of great quality, including the sourdough. The beer is great also, so it is worth coming in just for that too.
I love it soooo much, the entrée are a little pricey but worth every cent and so very yummy. The beer is incredible so smooth and flavourful. Some of the best beer ever and locally so I was in heaven. Will go back for sure. I had an awesome time:-)
Love it here! Great atmosphere, beer fab! Prawns delicious! Will come back - often!!
Friendly service, high quality beers, cool venue, nice relaxed vibe!
Amazing beer, expensive food. Loved the beer! Cannot even compare to the best pulled beers. Such amazing flavours, only managed not to get a takeaway as it would have been warm by the time we got home.:'( Wonderful atmosphere. Great high ceilings so the noise level is manageable and much better than the usual closed in pub. The decor was awesome, with a great steampunk vibe. The great stainless steel brew units in full view were amazing. My only beef is with the food available. It is lovely and flavourful, but far overpriced for what is it. $20+ for what is essentially a small snack, seems excessive and unnecessary. Sure it was gourmet, but it still feels opportunistic, especially when the beers are also expensive. Once the hip 'buzz' of the place wears off a bit I think they will find it hard to retain repeat customers unless they offer food at more realistic prices.
Sweet spot for a quality beer and friendly service. You guys are on to a winner here only thing I can suggest would be chess boards and darts.
Relaxed atmosphere with an effortless minimalist urba chic. Came here on a Sunday afternoon and enjoyed tasting a couple of beers and a 'session plate'.
Such a refreshing change from the tired offerings across the river at our local Oxford st, not to mention a distinctly lower ratio of wankers.... A diverse crowd here on the day. Friendly staff without a hint of 'venue snobbery'.
To the other posters that don't seem to get this place. It's a micro brewery, they sell craft beers. It's what they do. Don't come here if you are looking for an a-la-carte 3 course meal. Do come here if you are looking for good craft beer in a laid back venue without the pretence.
I can see us making a regular cross-river ferry trip in the future.
New York Dogs every second Wednesday night, it's fantastic! Beer and hot dogs its the best. My friends and I all loved it.
Was dragged here yesterday (Saturday) by the hubby for lunch all the seafood was served fresh and was excellent. The beers were outstanding as you would hope and even with only 2 staff on the bartender with the long hair was very friendly and accomodating answering all of my husbands questions about the brewery. Great to see a place that knows their stuff!
Mehhhhh. The IPA (Windjammer and Apricot) were tasty! But, the food options and menu lack depth. The staff were great and service was prompt. Expand the menu to keep me drinking at the Breacon.
A bit of fun, something different. Love the casual relaxed atmosphere. Well thought through good quality food to compliment the drinks
Could be better! The quantity / price of the food seafood and quality of wine let's them down..... Howver great Staff and top service...
Agree on comments about wine glasses too.
Brilliant service and product!. Delighted to discover you were open on Anzac Day afternoon. Had a few delicious beers- as always of a perfect standard and especially loved the Anzac Day biscuit drop:) Fresh prawns, bread from Chouquette, best butter on the planet and a yummy slice of creamy brie - simple but sensational. Also I have to mention the guy that was working the busy bar alone in the early afternoon was just sensational..
Awesome beer. Menu is limited but what they have is good. Beer is all fantastic, staff are friendly, let me use my card as no ATM's nearby. Atmosphere is a little sterile, no music, just the noise of a big arse industrial fan.
Big Shed. Love it. Just like pubs should be. No peripheral entertainment. Good beer. Good grub and a good chat!
Welcome GBBC!. "Simple, honest and good" are the three words that come to mind when I think of Green Beacon. Through their roller doors and into an inviting atmosphere abounding in flavours. The beers are not what we are used to in Brisbane, but are a welcome addition. With something for everyone on tap it is a great venue for a quiet one after work or a major celebration - and the space accommodates. Best part is - you can take a piece home with you too! The squealers and growlers deliver the same off the tap taste a day or two after you've picked them up. Note: don't be put off by the 1.89L jug. Trust me, it's not too much!
Craft beer and fresh seafood - sensational concept ! Great place
Seems like a lot of work has gone into this joint. The IPA & wheat beer are both fantastic, and while simple, so was the food (basic but all obviously fresh & high quality).
Good effort lads, I shall return when thirsty.
We brought home a 1L bottle of one of their mid-strength pale ale ($25: $10 for the bottle and $15 for the golden coloured liquid) and the beer was well received by the family. I can see this place being perfect for a night out for the boys.
We liked the food at Green Beacon. I got the distinct impression that the focus was on quality of produce and that the food was to be enjoyed in small quantities, highlighted with sips of their beer. The warehouse environment was different and fun. It was such a huge building but it still felt warm and cheerful. I can definitely see the appeal in stopping there after work for a drink. I don't see Green Beacon as being a dinner place. Lunch would be fine, and as a pitstop for drinks and snacks, it's perfect, but for dinner I need something more substantial.
The beer here is fantastic - one of my top 3 breweries in Brisbane (one of my top 4 in Australia). I had the imperial pastry stout - it's very strong but it's got this great malty caramel flavour and they give it to you in a fancy glass so that you can enjoy the flavor better. Last time I was here they had a kitchen but now they just have food trucks - the range of chips wasn't great but I was there for beer. I relaxed with my wife watching the ashes on the TV great afternoon!
The only local you'll need. Welcoming and chill vibe with plenty of variety in food trucks. Miss the bug roll though.
Great for a board game sesh on a quiet night or darts and Bev's post work.
Less sours and more hazys please
I have always enjoyed coming to Green Beacon. The locally brewed beers are all fantastic. (Just a heads up, if you're not beer drinker you'll be limited to either cider or a limited wine menu). While their beers are now commercially available it's still great to drink from the source. They also do offer many small batch beers that don't make it to bottle shops or other pubs.
The food truck model works well here too with a rotating list of food trucks. My favourite is Wednesday night when king of the wings turns up.
The environment is really nice, the architecture makes up wooden tables and barrels, there are also cylinders producing beer behind the bar in the place which makes it rustic.
The beers are wonderful, one tastier than the other and the price is cheaper than some other brewery. I tried some and chose a India Pale Ale, I advise anyone to know Green Beacon.
Good selection of beer!!!
We’ve been there in day time. It was good to talk with my friends. Staffs were kind and atmosphere was sooo nice. Interior is so attractive. Good place to grab some beer.
Green beacon has become my favourite craft beer so had to come down and see where the magic happens. Turns out their brewery is awesome inside, nice laid back place with loads on tap. I have already been through the core range so helped myself to some limited release beers. Very interesting beers indeed! Just wish they let you do take away singles instead of 4 pack only.
