Have not been back for a while and I found that the shop is much spacious than before and the vibe remains funky.
It still has lots of regular customers because it’s coffees never let us down.
Cheers!

Great coffee, busy both day and night. Great vibe, fun to play with the instagram and Facebook likes on the wall. That’s such a neat feature, would be great to see it rolled out to more cafes

This is our go-to coffee joint. Make sure you try the cookies. They are Karly Kupcake cookies and are my fav! Never have to wait too long even if there is a long line.

Freakin AHmazing coffee, funky venue, smiling and efficient staff and it's New Farm...so you'll see at least one adorable pooch while you wait.

Walking around New Farm I remember about this place which last time I saw was packed and seeing it empty today thought it was my chance to give it a try.

I ordered a dirty chai and a triple chocolate brownie.

My drink was actually a bit burned so there was a bitter flavour to it and the milk wasn't much creamy at all. I would rate it a 2.5 or 3 out of 5.

The brownie was crunchy which is my favorite kind of brownie. There was a strong chocolate flavour and it wasn't too sweet but it was a bit dry. I would rate it a 3.5 out of 5.

Overall I didn't get impressed but the barista was really friendly and attentive so I would give it another try.

This is a gem in new farm. Coffee great. Try iced coffee! It's healthy, just milk, coffee & ice. Perfect to pop in on the run. Give it a try.

Review no. 350 - Death Before Decaf

Death Before Decaf - how can you not love this name? Plus, they're always open!

Enjoyed a great Iced Coffee here (4), but the Chocolate Chip and Walnut Cookie was very dry and not very pleasant (2).

Seating is limited, but all coffees are served in takeaway cups anyway. Interesting - tattoo art - vibe and pleasant staff (nice to meet a fellow Zomato reviewer M & M working there).

Would definitely return for the coffee.

I come here often as possible when I'm back in brissy! Never had a bad coffee. Yeah the staff can sometimes be rude or not inviting but unfortunately the customer service in a fair few places now is obsolete. Everyone who is having a cry about the customer service and the loud music if you don't like it don't go back.. it's pretty simple. I don't go there for the polite customer service or the music ... it's a grab your coffee and leave place. That's what the whole concept of that place is and it works. Love the coffee keep it up! Can't wait to get back there in a few days and get a double shot biggie... mmm delicious!

Best coffee I've had in Brisbane & amazing caramel slices... I don't know how any one could complain! It's dog friendly and on Fridays Mr. Burger is parked right outside which I will be reviewing soon!

Fantastic coffee and amazing opening hours! I went with my mum and tried to sit down but definitely didn't feel comfortable, I guess a mother daughter chat team isn't quite the look they want. We went to the park instead and loved it. Definitely a grab a go kind of place. Would still return

Coffee is the best around!  love the cool atmosphere, cool staff and heavy tunes.  Don't be deterred by the "dark" vibes... it might just give you a spoonful of concrete to toughen up! Open 24hrs for your convenience.

All this place does is coffee. And they are bloody good at it. The coffee is delicious. They are open 24 hours and the thing I love about it besides the amazing velvety coffee? It's a no BS place. They play loud metal and punk, and you basically order your coffee and leave. Perfect for when you're in a hurry or are not in the mood for chit chat.

Best coffee in Brisbane that I have had by a long shot. Remember cash only but more then makes up for it with the amazing taste and open 24/7

Very limited seating but that's not what you come for.  Grab and go.  Service is polite but not engaging.  Coffee is consistently good, regardless who makes it and really; that's what you want.

Always fantastic to see folk who take their coffee seriously! Every cup of coffee we have had from this place has been exceptional. Perfectly placed to stroll from New Farm Cinemas.

Beautifully decorated little coffee shop in the heart of new farm. My only gripe about the interior is that there was limited seating, definitely no warm, welcoming cafe vibe about it. They probably only serve coffee in takeaway containers anyway.

Had a flat white (decent coffee - would rate in 4.5/5) and a deliciously large chunky chocolate chip cookie.

Service was average; suits the overall theme of the shop.

Death Before Decaf - New Farm, Brisbane. I cannot tell you how much it is a dream come true this place. Over 20 years living in Brisbane, and within less than 5 of them I have started to become a big coffee drinker. The emerging number of great coffee places around town is fantastic, and people are starting to show a great deal of care to the beverage. However, as a night class student at university one gripe I have noted is that there never seems to be any great coffee place open after 4-5pm, you could stretch it to 7pm if you are lucky. That sucks, as I got to have my coffee to focus. Much to my delight, enter the first true coffee shop in town open 24 hours a day: Death Before Decaf.

To get it out of the way, great name! Part of the appeal to go here was from that alone. In one of the constantly busiest parts of town, the police, paramedics and all other sorts of workers with jobs that have no bedtime would certainly welcome a great place for coffee open after dark. No more settling on convenience store and/or fast food for that needed caffeine rush.

After dropping my parents off at the airport, my mum had set aside some cash for my dining buddy and I to go get a coffee afterwards. I was searching for a good place near the airport that did coffee, or possibly a dessert cafe for best chances when all of a sudden I remembered here. If you are going to try somewhere that is open 24/7, the best time to try it out is unarguably when close to everything else is shut. Also, New Farm was not that far away either. The time was ripe.

Subtle is one of the last words that could possibly describe this place. It has heavy metal music blaring from the radio, all kinds of tattoo art and graffiti peppering the place, plus there seems to be a focus on skulls as the imagery even down to the sugar bowl on the counter being that shape. Plus, got to really give kudos to the logo showing the impression of this espresso bar. It has its own character and style on display, yet people from all walks of life come here (both my dining buddy and I are comparatively wholesome looking). Expect some heavily tattooed and/or pierced folk at the coffee machines. Don't worry, they don't bite.

It could do with some more seating. There is a couch that is apparently comfortable, yet most of the other options are milk crates. Other than that, they have done well. It has character, it could not be mistaken for another place and many clients were using it as a hangout. Death Before Decaf has a look and feel to it that would not be out of place in West End, only it does not have the associated demeanour. It is an individual doing its own thing. For me, if it has not been reiterated yet, they just had me at "coffee at any time of night"; and we are talking expertly done, espresso-based coffee.

All their coffees are done in takeaway cups. It was two orders of a large, double shot cappuccino to try it out. They use the Bellisimo blend in their coffee; this is one of the best kinds for that desired caffeine hit. The coffee I had from here was fantastic to say the last. It had a smooth and velvety texture, along with a brilliant taste that was accompanied by strength that was certainly stark yet did it in a subtle manner. The girl working the machine textured the milk perfectly and made a creamy, delicious concoction.

Death Before Decaf must be a work in progress, since the selection is fairly small at the moment (think coffee, Red Bull and water for drinks) and they are slowly introducing items to have with your coffee. When I went, there was a jar of giant cookies on the counter, and the two of us both got one. These were also really good, freshly made, moreish and soft. The chocolate chips in it were generously proportioned in the dough. It was really delicious.

The coffee kept me awake for several hours afterwards. You can bank on it that if I lived a few streets away, with all those late nights doing assignments I would often be coming here at the most insane times. My dining buddy and I have made a pact that whenever we are eating in New Farm, we will stop off at this place for coffee. It is the least that can be done.

So, to the owner's of this joint: the night owls thank you, the coffee lovers thank you, the police thank you, and I thank you.

I died and went to heaven.. Great takeaway cappuccino. That is about it really. Smooth draw, delicious beans and the right temperature. I was surprised as I did not expect this level of expertise from a death metal joint, but sometimes life truly is like a box of chocolates. We also had a delicious biscuit although food choices are limited.

Great Coffee. I consider myself a late night coffee person. I will have to admit it is hard to find good coffee here in Brisbane after 7pm. Most cafe's would have shut hours ago...

I stumbled upon Death Before Decaf when I visited my friend's pizza shop just 2 shops down from where this cafe is, (mind you my friends shop serves great pizza they just don't have coffee). As 1st impressions go this place has a special atmosphere about it. It's not like your typical coffee shop, it's got a character that I haven't seen in a Brisbane coffee shop. Without even thinking, you'd think this place doest serve coffee.

THe only time you would think it's a coffee shop somehow is that you see the coffee machine right as you enter or you see people have take-away coffee cups with them as they walk out of the shop. I will give it to you the looks of the shop isn't really for everyone but thats the unique thing about this cafe its DIFFERENT in good ways.

Order your coffee and without a doubt you will be surprised as to what you receive. It's coffee like no other. I have to admit with the number coffee shop's around Brisbane and the amount of coffee I have drank, this is the 1st cafe I have made a review on because it's that good.

Best part is, they are open 24 hours!

Very cool decor, unique and different from the other cafes that I’ve been to so far in Brisbane. Coffee was smooth and tasty. Would recommend. Also pretty cool how this place is open 24/7 when most of the other cafes close around 2pm here. Baristas were friendly and it’s more of a stop and go place - not really a place to sit down and have a chat in my opinion.

Death before Decaf is my local spot. The coffee is so smooth and yummy every single time. It doesn't matter what hour you are craving a coffee, you can fulfill that need. It is open 24/7! Can you believe it? Well believe it. I have to say my coffee addiction has definately hit a peak since finding this spot on Brunswick Street. The decor and music is a vibe and it is a must do if you haven't been! 10/10

Yum!!!! The coffee is excellent, the vibe in this place is cool and they have BUTTERBINGS... If you do not know what that is, go in and ask. They're so good it feels illegal. Stuff are a pretty cool lot and the decor just kills me. Perfect for a weekend relax. No in store seating.

Best coffee in Brisbane. Have been going to DBD for over 6 years now and the coffee has always been the same. Incredible choices, amazing 24/7 fast service, so close to New Farm park and the river walk. 11/10 no idea why i haven't given a review sooner.
