Really a takeaway coffee shop with very good coffee. You can sit upstairs but perfunctory dining. Go for the coffee hot and strong, but competing with many imitators
Great coffee. The best coffee in town. No wonder they won that many awards. The staff are so friendly and great service.
Being a Melbourne coffee snob my expectations were high. In summary the coffee was nice but too hot. The lady serving was friendly but the Barista had a face on that indicated he didn't want to be there.
Not bad. Busy spot on George street. Good quick service but in emerging world of coffee left behind. Very surprised that people are lining up for Moccopan beans, but again there is nothing better around.
Effective but nothing to rave about
Good coffee, full of flavour. Nice spot up the stairs to watch the crowds ordering their morning fix of brew. Would love more brekkie options, prefer fresh avo to the spread they put on the toast.

Ham and cheese toastie ... yes
Damn right its good. Never a bad brew. Flavour party on my tongue.
Absolutely delicious coffee. Muesli was tasty, although a little on the small size. Nice little cafe with open, communal eating spaces.
Best coffee in brisbane! And staff very friendly most long termers
Excellent Latte, and a great service! Come everyday, and the coffee quality is always consistent irregardless whether Alen made it himself or made from of his friendly staff. Best coffee in Brisbane.
Pleasant place. There was always a long queue in front of Alen's whenever I tried. I had a time before a meeting, just around 3PM, so gave it a try...and succeeded. Not many customers were inside, but people kept dropping by for take-away, which shows how popular this place is. Coffee was solid and full of body, girls working there were very pleasant. Lunch specials seemed very attractive too.
Nice coffee.. Just the right shot.. Pleasant service
Alen is the man. No need to point out that Gloria Jeans a few metres away gets busy when Alens is full and people do not have the patience to wait. Way to go Alen!
Awesome daily special set! Yummy toast goes with incredible coffee.Cost less but get the most satisfy. Totally agree above user view: great way to start a day!
Great coffee, great staff. I've been going to Alen's once a week or so since it opened. Alen and his staff are lovely, and it's a really nice touch that they remember your name. The coffee is delicious, and they do a pretty good peanut butter toast (if I do say so myself). Alen's does get ridiculously busy and it is very small, but your coffee is made quickly and lovingly every time. Why would anyone ever venture to the Gloria Jeans two doors down when you have Alen to look after you?
The best place to grab a latte in town is Alen's Espresso, conveniently located near Roma Station. Now, everyone likes their coffee differently, so while my opinion may be subjective, I've been around Brisbane's (and other large cities') coffee scene...Their lattes aren't the boldest that I've had, and while the bean itself doesn't seem to have a characteristic aroma...
Although small, Alen's offers everything you need to have a perk-me-up moment.
