This is a large hotel, in a great location near the Brisbane Port area, racecourse precinct and a little further away, Brisbane Airport.
It has an extensive menu, particularly focussing on steak, but with loads of other options and daily specials.
There is a huge bistro section with a sports bar feel, as well as a restaurant section at the front, on Racecourse Rd side, complete with table service.
Our meals were great. I had a 250gm rump steak with half a lobster mornay, chips and salad, for $33. Excellent value, the lobster was a decent size and a great sized side salad too.
Meals were served in good time, even though they were busy.
He had the lobster and squid seafood marinara, which he thoroughly enjoyed.
Would definitely return, well recommended.
Steak is awesome :-) I would say on of the best in Brisbane! Very very very easy to park and that is the biggest plus ever! Awesome local pub :-)
The famous Hamo.....well the steaks are what we are here for. There is nothing special about pub grub no matter where you go, and this holds the record for Standard and mediocre. Apart from the price the local RSL serves similar. 300gram rump chips and soggy lettuce with crotons bet you have read it on every club/pub restaurant menu you have ever been too. What makes this different just the price.
The staff are very friendly and more than accommodating. It's very busy and seems to have a following from business and social diners. I really can't justify the price for value between the pre preped soggy salad and 10 chips. Maybe investigate other options on the menu we didn't payed the price literally.
Now this is a steak. After a disappointing steak a few nights prior I thought I would try the steak and it was perfection. The sides with chips and salad were just as good. I would come back when visiting Brisvegas.
Visited Grazier's just before Christmas and found the service and food to be quite pleasant. It's a nice family restaurant and even has a kids playground next to the dining area to keep an eye on them. Food was typical Hotel type food, but executed well. Desserts are very cheap in price, but quality reflects this, and this would be the only downside.
Went went for the UFC last weekend, the atmosphere was awesome, the place was so busy but the bar service was good and everyone just got on together and shared tables! We just had chicken parmi for lunch but it was well priced and delicious. Too say how busy it was too the wait was spot on.
Fantastic lunch steaks under $15. Cooked to perfection! We love the Hammo! The only reason this is not getting our top marks is owing to the inconsistent service.
It amazes me how varied these reviews are. I recently posted an email to the hotel management thanking them for a great Hotel, they replied and asked if I would post online, being so happy with my experience, I thought why not.
So here it is:
To the Hotel Manager,
Wanted to let you know what a great hotel you have.
Today I had some business at Eagle Farm and needed to kill an hour or two, so I dropped into the "Hamo" for lunch.
Hadn't been in for a couple of years, wasn't expecting much, but I was surprised.
Great atmosphere, great staff, great food and the beer was just right.
I had the $14.99 300g lunch rump, nice bit of meat, cooked perfectly, delicious chips with a nicely dressed salad on the side, everything fresh, well cooked and presented, everything as it should be but better.
A credit to your chef and kitchen staff, it might of been a simple pub counter meal but it was something I would drive across town for again.
Some of the other land mark hotels in Brisbane have become hit and miss at best over recent years and have fallen of my list of things to do regularly due to poor value.
Part of the "poor value" is being afraid to order beer from the tap due to poor gas/taste/temp issues, I'm told with modern systems this is hard to do, but nonetheless the frequency of poor beer on tap on the southside of Brisbane is more often then not. To me the whole point of a "pub" is beer on tap, why would you drink out of glass in a pub, I can do that at home.
Any way congratulations to you and your team, out standing hotel.
Regards,
JH
Good Food. Five of us ate here 19th Oct. Various steaks, salmon, duck, and pork belly. Duck was average - too much potato, not very much duck. Other dinners were fine, though the T-Bone was not up to scratch (undersize for what it was supposed to be). The Rib-Eye was perfect. Salmon and pork belly very good. I note a recent comment about the mushroom sauce - two of us had the mushroom sauce and could not fault it. I thought it was one of the best I have had (never been to "Morrisons"). It was a busy Saturday night, we did not book but they found us tables. Bloody pricey!
My mate from out of town and I ate six very different meals at the Hammo Hotel last night, and each course we left clean plates. Delicious seafood and steak meals of perfect portion sizes, were all served by enthusiastic staff. A very professional unit worked hard on a busy night. Excellent positive vibe making sure everyone felt special. Congrats to management and we will be back to enjoy more of that great iconic pub.
Food was lovely, portion sizes were huge which is good because the prizes are a little steep but you get what you pay for. kids meals were great size and staff were a pleasure both attentive and patient with the children. Was a Tuesday night and on leaving we were given a 20%off voucher for the following Tuesday. We will be using it happily.
Great Meals at a fair price. Excellent meals and fair sizes. The only let down was the service by waitresses that seemed more interested on how they would look once their shifts finished.
A great steak and even cooked well. The chefs change to the menus seems suprizing but time will tell.
Awsome. The wagyu here is fantastic and great value. Very surprised buy the level of service and quality of food!
Good prices n nice variety. atmosphere is buzzing on a friday night. bar, restaurant n outdoor seating options make this place suitable for all occasions. as for the wagyu rump i ordered mediumrare. probably overcooked to medium. ceasr salad crisp with copious bacon and cheese. chips crunky and seasoned well. 7.5/10 for the experience.
Great Steaks. We regularly go to the Hamo for lunch on a Saturday or dinner on a Monday night when they have $10 off the graizer steaks. I always get the 180g Fillet Mignon and it is consistently good. My husband gets either the Caesar salad, the lunch rump or the Wagyu steak and has always given good feedback on all meals. The service is great and the food is always out in a reasonable time frame. All in all a good local pub.
Great Pub, Great Meal. Need I say more? Try and go on a night when the steaks are cheaper. Either way the outdoor dining area out the back is nice and the general atmosphere is good, not too feral even on a Friday/Saturday.
Good for large groups. Graizers Steakhouse at the Hamilton Hotel offers the obligatory steaks as well as a selection of salads, chicken, pasta and risotto dishes for the non-steak eaters. I've eaten at Graizers about 4 times and all times the kitchen offered no flexibility to any changes to the menu. When asking for anything like a sauce on the side or adding chicken to a risotto they are generally forgotten. Salads etc are pre-made so a request for no onion for example is not possible. The food has been consistent, quality is fine, meals are served quickly, not the best steaks I've eaten but for a relaxed pub meal it's fine, cocktails defiantly in the amateurs division though so stick to standard drinks. We by chance had a friend's birthday lunch and another dinner at Graizers on the same day, both large groups of 10. The Manager commented when he saw us in the line for dinner that we were still there. My friend made a joke about earning a dessert and the manager replied with 'I don't ever give free things to customers when they ask' interesting outlook considering the amount of money we'd contributed that day. When looking for a quick meal especially for large groups as each person orders straight to the counter it's a venue to consider.
The steak was cooked perfectly but the mushroom sauce was nowhere near as good as Morrisons. The birthday girl told me that the mushroom sauce at Morrison's is the head chef's own personal recipe. That explains it.
Will keep it short. Front of house quick to greet you ,polite and courteous. Service was impeccable considering the numbers already seated. Food : calamari could be crisper but still soft. Beef cheeks were melt in the mouth but a touch under seasoned . Vegetables had a little bite which is perfect. All in all a vibrant atmosphere and a joy just to watch how the Hamo team worked together. Well done !!!
Came in on Saturday night with a few dear Interstate guests... though we live some distance away, The Hamilton Hotel is our preferred choice... a busy night as expected, but a massive shout out to Grace, the chefs and staff that made it a scrumdidlyumtpouos and enjoyable night ππ»π₯
We shall be back!
Great food and service. The espresso martinis are to die for! I recommend the staff wear red triangular scarves to complete the pirate look. Please mend the lights in the children's play area.
Excellent food and service. All the staff were so lovely. Never been disappointed here. The vegan burger is one of the best I've ever had.
Great food, great atmosphere, but! Staff need some proper training on how to pour a beer and they need to replace those cheap schooner glasses (the 'Headstart' glasses are a lot better)
Had lunch there today, the steak was cooked ,as I ordered, to perfection. Very melt in the mouth. Staff were great.
Thanks
