Review Seagrill Cafe Restaurant - Brisbane

I want to give this place a better review just for the customer service. Friendly and family oriented restaurant, located in a quiet street. Food/ seafood was average. Price of platter was $89 with lots of variety on plate Unfortunately not fresh as stated but still tasty. Highlight of our meal was entrees of garlic prawns and scallops mornay.

Great place, nice and quiet with plenty of room around you so you don’t feel like you are sitting too close to other customers. Staff are very friendly and food comes very fast. The reason l am rating this place a 4 star is because l have ordered lemongrass beef vermicelli and the noodles were over cooked. My partner loved her pho bo and the rice paper rolls were amazingly fresh. Thank you

The owner of this restaurant is one of the most attentive gentlemen I have ever met. It was a shocking night pouring rain so his restaurant was a little quiet. Don't let the marquee & plain tables put you off. This little gem that my friends found is worth your attention. Quirky with a fish 'n' chip menu, together with Asian cuisine. My friends had the Satay chicken and Quang Noodles while I had Barramundi & Chips. Their meals were enormous, bring a couple of containers with you as the food is delish! I now have to go back at least 3 more times as I wish to try the stay and Quang Noodle PLUS they have Morten Bay Bug @ $32. Never had it before so I am sure this chef will do it justice! Did I mention the desserts? The fried banana is not overly sweet with a very interesting "coating". My friends were impressed that the fried icecream was coated with coconut rather than bread crumbs.

Staying at the Kingsford Smith and did a quick dash up (literally 1 minute!) and they cooked the most delicious seafood basket for us almost on closing time! 10/10 for the quality of the food, cooking and service.đź‘Ś

Very good, returned 2 days later. Fresh fish, nice owner good cook, salads very fresh tasting no brown lettuce. Good price.

Ordered chicken pho on Uber eats no onion add chilli. Received beef pho with pretty much a whole onion old bean sprouts and no chilli. No one even answering the phone to get it changed over! Clearly gone down downhill. Also found a broken piece of plastic in the noodles!

We went here for breakfast and it was good, taking into consideration that it is mainly a seafood place. We even recommended it to guests at our motel looking for a place to have breakfast. It is a clean and tidy place but the service was a tad slow however there was only 1 person for the entire restuarant. He was very friendly and professional. The food was well cooked, well presented and the portions were very decent. I did like the breakfast burger, it tasted great. The coffee was good and strong too.

The service was good but the fish meal was ordinary. Possibly the Vietnamese menu is better. Not impressed when the manager made fun of my husband’s red nose, when he was already feeling conspicuous after his surgery.

We really enjoy coming here .. Food is delicious and they have such a wide variety.. The ambience is good and service is great too.. We also like to order takeaway here from time to time and they’re always on time with the food .. big thumbs up from us .. 👍

Food is terrible and low quality. It is very expensive for what it is. However the service is friendly and helpful. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone.

This quality local fish and chip with a Viet twist has a bit of something for everyone, whether it's old school fish and chips or Viet spring rolls. I recommend the sweet potato scallops!

Well would not recommend ordered snapper meal with salad takeaway
Also a potato scallop. The potato scallop looked like it had been cooked 10 times
Brown as and fell apart. The fish was crumbed couldn't break apart with fork
It was thin and tough like rubber.
The only decent were the wedges.
Don't waste your money. I took the food back.............. 1/10
Could not be worse. Seafood salad $25 for 2 prawns and 2 scallops. Pork meal that was over spiced & tough. Rice that was cooked to tough to eat.

Great seafood and takeaway! Haven't tried their Asian cuisine however. Food is ready within 15 minutes of ordering most of the time. Would recommend checking them out.
Good and nice place. Big language barrier with the new owners. We tried to order take out over the phone which failed and we went elsewhere. Went in and ordered spring roll Vietnamese salad, got spring rolls and no Vietnamese salad. It's nice and casual dining, fresh seafood. Don't have anything to complain about the food (there is better seafood but it's still not bad). The people are nice it's just hard to communicate. Would return, probably wouldn't recommend. Really nice setting though to sit down and enjoy a drink and meal.

This is a fusion restaurant- with fish and chips and Vietnamese food. Food is average and service is okay. You may have to wait for 40min+ if you order their Vietnamese meals with a large group of people - they only have one stove for Asian cooking (their explanation).

Had dinner at this place with a voucher last Wednesday night. I never impressed that this fish & chips is running by Vietnamese, maybe it is under new management. Service was sincere and friendly. The whole venue is quite large and I could imagine that they can easily accommodate functions such as birthday or even wedding parties. Our seafood platter took a while to be prepared because they served quite a lots of different seafood such as oysters, grilled king prawns, freshly cooked prawns, fried calamari rings, battered fish fillets, bay bugs, scallops and chip wedges. The whole plate looks spectacular and quality of seafood is good too. Overall it was a decent experience.

Had a dinner date here one night, ordered oysters which were fantastic, nothing can go wrong with oysters. Found it strange my Soy glazed salmon was served on top of bok choy :/

We had a coupon deal for breakfast & it was for a set menu of which we were only offered about five choices. There was not much on there that I could have which was vegetarian so I opted for the standard breakfast which came with a poached egg, sausage, bacon, spinach & a small tomato wedge. I only ate the tomato & the spinach (which happened to be cold) Luckily we had the pooch with us so she enjoyed the rest! The coffee was weak with a large amount of foam

We used to go here and something dramatic had changed. The quality of the food is appalling. I wish I could say nice things about the place but I just couldn't think of one thing . We won't return I'm sorry

Rip Off.. I'm not sure how they can justify selling their small handful of chips for $7, but they certainly found a way. They weren't even good. Never again.

Not fresh! We had not visited here since new owners. We will not be returning. The fish was not fresh the salad and veges were even worse. Wine was the best bit. Poor waitress was run off her feet as they were understaffed.

My hubby and I visited Seagrill for the first time on Fri 12.12.14 with the intention to dine in. After placing our meal order, we waited 90 minutes for our food. I ordered grilled fish and steamed veg and hubby had parmigiana, chips and salad (nothing too difficult). The meals were only average and not worth the wait. We will not return.

Waited 2hours for our food!. Firstly, the food is good. The service is appalling. We went on a Sunday night and waited 45 minutes for our entree to come out; which was just some calamari. Another 45 minutes after we'd finished entree, our mains still hadn't arrived. We noticed other guests getting annoyed as well and waiting very long times. I asked the waiter where our food was and she said 'but you just finished your entree'. They hadn't even bothered to check on us for over 45 mins. it was 2 hours from when we were seated before our mains arrived. They are completely under staffed. Also, it's very noisy in the eating area due to tin walls and polished cement floor.
Tip: order take-away and order it a lot earlier than when you plan to eat ....or don't bother at all

Great food and great owners. Had a wonderful mother’s day, went to the movies with my Mum and my sister, thoroughly enjoyed the movie and then on the way home dropped into The Seagrill Café at Hamilton for a little bite to eat. We arrived late afternoon 4-00pm and the staff where resting. We asked if they were opened and with opened arms and a smile invited us in. They had just finished their busy Mother’s Day lunch to a packed house and were relaxing before the dining customers arrive later that night. After eating a delicious meal went to pay the bill and to our surprise, the lovely and gracious owner said she was so happy to see us enjoying our Mother’s day that the food was on the house. You don’t come across this very often, please visit this café as you will never find a more caring and loving owner and it also shows in their food. Made our day.

Well Done. Booked and ate here on Mother's Days with a table of five. Food was fast, tasty, well priced and generous. Staff were excellent. Have ordered take away too many times to remember and eaten in once before. Food has always been consistently good and today was no exception. Well done. Would and will keep coming back.

Copped horrendous abuse from staff. Seagrill is usually a nice little place with pleasant owners and an easy spot to dine out at...but don't bother going near the place on a Friday or Saturday night when Eat Street is on down the road. Recently I parked on the street outside Seagrill in order to walk down to Eat Street markets with a couple of friends only to be threatened to have my car towed because Seagrill want to keep the street parking around there for their customers. We understand that their business is probably taking a hit with the markets on nearby but that is no excuse for the abuse we copped from a large, greasy "woman" working at Seagrill that night. She threatened to have our car towed because they had "spoken to council about getting parking signs" and had a handwritten sign on an esky lid apparently reserving a full council street for parking for their loyal customers. Had they asked me politely to move my car (which was in no way blocking any driveways or entrances and was a completely legal park) then I would happily have obliged, but instead this staff member came at us all guns blazing, was condescending, insanely rude and has made me never want to go near Seagrill again. A manager apologised for her behavior but what's an apology after that kind of treatment for not doing anything wrong?

Dissapointing. Very much a waste of time. We moved local a little while ago and have been looking forward to trying these guys. Tonight we just wanted some chips takeaway and there was more value in the packaging. Not to mention that when picking them up, the staff actually commented that it was hardly worth the order. Well you won't have to worry because you couldn't pay us to return....

Have been wanting to try seagrill fish and chips since I moved into the area several months ago we decided tonight we would try the fish and chips we were very disappointed as the fish was like rubber the chips were small and flavourless and garden salad was far from fresh needless to say we will not be back

Excellent Cuisine. 18 Feb 2014, Orderd a trio of dips, followed by Seafood Linguini and a Chargrilled Steak. The service was excellent, and on recommendation of Yiani one of the friendly waiters changed to smoked salmon with caper sauce.
The trio of dips was all freshly prepared with warmed pita bread.
The mains followed in reasonable time, the only complaint was the steak was a little over done, but still juicy, and flavour some. I commented to Mia (Owner) wo advised the new chef had only started 20 minutes before our meals, so would expect next time to be perfect. The linguini was excellent. The prices were reasonable, and the servings adequate, we both have good appetites. It is a BYO, but the soft drink servings are adequate. The decor is cafe style, open and airy. All in all would rate at 8/10, and would expect to return when next in the area.

Friday and Saturday night parking is am issue with the competing Eat Street. However there was a good guitarist playing but I find the food overpriced for what it is. As an example 3 scallops for $11 served on a little piece of lettuce with no dressing is over the top. Guys get back to the basics and secure some parking for your customers
Taste For Good Food
After waiting almost 2 hours for a main meal, and tables being served over and over before our table.. Definitely will not be back

After waiting 30 minutes for my take away grilled fish, chips and salad. I got home to discover that the fish was cold (my house is only 10mins away so I don't think it could be the transit time) and the very small amount of chips were all undercooked and raw... The Greek salad was OK but had no dressing on it. After spending approx. $17 I only got to eat a Greek salad... Very disappointed..

On the plus side, my husband ordered the mornay bugs and he said it was delicious.

Generous servings. Lunch time takeaway; our group got a mix of crumbed snapper, prawns and calamari with chips. Servings were very generous although could be expected as pricing is on the higher side. We ordered extra salad which was a bit of a non event but overall enjoyable and VERY filling.

Incredibly disappointed. Tonight I went to Seagrill for the first time.

I ordered as a takeaway meal
Barramundi w/ Chips & Salad.
Beer Battered Prawns.

Total: $26.80

The first thing that caught me by surprise with the meal was that the fish was battered not crumbed, there was no mention of this on the menu and I was very surprised to find it so. The fish was huge but there was a small amount of chips.

I ate some of the prawns first and they were basically flavourless. The texture was ok but the batter was incredibly greasy. They were luke warm and this may have been because of the delay to get home, but I doubt it.

The chips were so varying in quality that it was ridiculous. Some of them were so undercooked as to be raw whereas others were overcooked and almost burnt. Very few of them were cooked properly.

The salad was OK freshness wise, but was about half cucumber and cherry tomato by volume. There was also no dressing on it.

Upon trying the fish I was amazed at how bad it was. It was so greasy that my fingers were visibly shiny, and a lot of the time I couldn't taste the fish for the oil. The batter seemed to be undercooked and had a slimy consistency where it was in contact with the fish.

I ended up going back to Seagrill and they were nice enough to refund the cost of my food, but I doubt I will ever be going be back there.

Flavoursome. Had dinner there and found the service prompt and efficient. Oysters were fresh and their bug mornay flavoursome. Hubby had the prawn cutlets which was very nice. Also, loved their sweet potato fries.

Found Seagrill by accident on a walk -when staying overnight nearby before a flight. (we are from the Gold Coast). Very enjoyable meal. Delicious Garlic Prawns Entree and beautiful Salmon mains. (Perhaps more salad would have been good to go with the scrumptious chips) . Great service. Would love to go back again.

Up market fish and chips. Good portions size for price. Always fresh.

Ok.. The menu looks good but the servings were minuscule... Sea scallop skewers, you get 4 tiny pieces of sea scallop. The salads are tiny also.. We paid $76 for 4 of us and I had to stop at Maccas to feed my two kids on the way home. The waitresses seemed disinterested and the meat took over. 45 minutes to appear. It was Mother's Day but there weren't that many people in the restaurant.. There was one guy working the tables who seemed to be enjoying himself! Would have happily shared my opinion when I paid but the guy who took my money really couldn't have cared less.. Never returning and will go down as an urban legend we will happily share with many..

Great service and excellent value. The warm seafood salad is amazing.

Very Regular Diner. I can't believe some of the wingers who have reviewed this unique Restaurant.
This is not Omeros Bros nor is it Morgans .
It is great value for money and I and my wife would dine here at least twice a week as well as Baguette, Gianni's and Belverdere.
We find Seagrill is a casual and enjoyable dining experience at all times....

Very average. Ordered take away and very disappointed. The grilled fish was like rubber, chips were tasteless and the greek salad was not fresh whatsoever! Such a shame we used to love this place but we won't be back!

Sea Grill Sliding Downhill. My wife and I visited Seagrill last night for dinner. We are return customers because we had a wonderful weekend lunch earlier in the year. Unfortunately, our experience with service and food was very different. The waitress passed us several times, did not acknowledge us and eventually the lovely Greek owner lady served us. That was fine. Sadly, when dinner arrived 10 mins later, the calamari was over-cooked and the Greek salad had no taste, was sparse with ingredients and had no flavour. The owners are obviously cutting corners as the cooking oil was overdue for changing and they really looked tired. Sorry guys, it's time to get out and let someone younger take over. The tent needs a good refurb, the music was inaudible (run from an ipod and more suited to the young waitress's tastes than the customers (mainly 40+). Regrettably, we won't be back because a restaurant's best asset is its food and consistency. Sea Grill - your reputation is sliding and you have lost us. We won't be back.

Very average. Fish, prawn cutlets and scallops overcooked. Nothing seasoned with salt. They serve better chips at the takeaway store up the road. You guys need to go to Cleveland fish on fire to see how it should be done. Please let us know when u have and we'll try again.

Review. Went with my girlfriends last night at seagrills. Food was fantastic. I had Kilpatrick oysters and Calamari, it was very tasty and calamari very tender. The only down fall was the service. We got our meal quick but no one came over and asked us if we wanted any desserts or more coffee after our meal. We all wanted dessert and more drinks and they would of made a extra fourty dollars from the four of us if they did. Plus we were the only group left at 9pm and we felt that they wanted us out. We got the hint when they turned off the music. So we ended up leaving just before 9:30pm. And they close at 10pm. Just Very disapointed in the service. Plus the young wait staff just did not act like they wanted to be there and where too busy talking to each other.

Line ball.... Went there for a quick dinner last night, have to say that it wasn't what I remembered (had been there some 18 months ago on a tip).
Firstly, walked up to the counter to see if they were still open and serving and the woman behind the counter initially appeared to take no notice of us.Then she didn't seem to know what the time was or whether they were still open.
Secondly, when we did sit doen we ordered a hot seafood platter, which had so much food it wasn't funny. I thought they would have warned us that it wasn't just a tasting plate like it appeared on the menu, rather a banquet for 6...anyway, food was OK, again not like I remembered.
Finally, when we went to pay the bill, we got ignored by the same woman who was too busy cleaning to come and take our payment. Another woman cleaning ended up taking payment. She was nice enough but never asked how our meal was etc.
Anyway, overall things are average at this place. Food is basic and served in large quantities.... would have preferred smaller quantities of better food. Food service was prompt but the general service is lacklustre. I wouldn't recommend this place, there are plenty better.
