Review Enjoy Inn Restaurant - Brisbane

Steven McKenna
The food was OK. I've had much better Chinese fair than here. Overall we did enjoy it but we were hungry, which may slat my view on it. A plus was the staff were welcoming and friendly. A minus was we were the only people in the restaurant but it still took over 20min for first course to come out. This was important to us as we had a show to go see.

Great food!! So good to finally find a place that does good Chinese food 🥰🥰🥰

We had such a yummy Sunday lunch here and water Kayden was great and explains us what we wanted to know. We really enjoyed the food, full of flavor and the prices were good as well. We will be back soon!

Back in the day this was a great place. However, the food was average at best. I have been there 3 times in the last 3 weeks with different people for different reasons. Most of the dishes were average. The special fried rice was bland and ham pieces through it didn't taste fresh. The deep fried sole looked fantastic but didnt taste anything like it looked. On a positive note, the Quail and Enjoy Inn Ribs were good.

I have ordered from these guys at least once a week for a long time. The one time I had a problem with Menulog delivery, they had absolutely no respect for my regular custom nor the fact that they are the ones delivering the customer experience. Never ordering here again

Good food here (definitely recommend the calamari), service is quick and efficient, usually end up here after more than a few drinks. I do always seem to get slightly over charged, but a good feed.
Sharon Mitchell
Ordered takeaway delivered and was very disappointed in the food received. The honey chicken was over cooked and very chewy as was the salt and pepper calamari. Was unimpressed with the food received. Definitely will not be ordering again.

Just like it's sister restaurant in Hamilton, the Enjoy Inn doesn't disappoint. Awesome food, served efficiently at a reasonable price.

I’m a guest in this country, just dropped in to visit my son and anywhere in the world we go, we have Chinese food, sort of a family thing. The prices were reasonable until the orders came.

The service was fast, that I can say and taste was ok as well. One of our go to dishes is the salt and pepper squid and back home that would be in a huge plate but our order had 8 or 9 on the plate.

This place IS AMAZING!!!! I’ve eaten my fair share of Chinese while up in QLD and wow oh wow I love this place!

Our waiter was seriously good - my 6 year old was chatting in mandarin as my son is learning and he was heaps of fun!

Fried rice. Perfect in every way. Slightly crunchy rice and it was full of chicken and flavour.

Sweet and sour chicken they did for us - it was crunchy, sweet and full of yummy pineapple.

Spring rolls - my 2 year old ate 3 of them and all of us loved them.

Such a good place to bring children, with a bottle of rosé it was only $70 and we tipped $20 as it was worth it.

Coming back .... very soon!

Asian greens were soggy, terrible!

Authentic Chinese food in, where else, Chinatown Fortitude Valley! The fried rice was so good, had to go back for a second order for our group of 3. Friendly service, the manager/owner even stopped by our table for a chat. Definitely recommended!

One of my favorite restaurants in the Valley, its my go to for take away and the staff are amazingly friendly, we never have to wait and well priced.
Chris Mason
We ordered a full Peking duck. It cost more than $50. When it came out it was just the skin with literally no meat whatsoever. We were told that this was the style. This place will rip you off. Do not, under any circumstances, think you will get a good meal here.

Look they won the Amex plates in the distant dining past and millions of quail have been cooked since then...it’s old and yes there were Chinese looking people eating and yes it was a quick lunch and for a quick lunch was ok. It’s like eating at home. Gwen is as friendly as Helen was. The snapper hot pot nice . Sizzling beef ok. Green tea prawn really nice, and the bed of fresh steam broccoli on which they were served was beautiful.. Crispy skin duck just ok. Green tea fine. Decor and table settings old and tired. Like us I guess. Implausibly slippery chopsticks. Must be coated with years of whatever that stuff is that coats chinese restaurants. It’s a sort of grime. It’s in the carpets on the walls ... implausibly small paper napkins. Feels like it’s just a place for owner to get money. Oh well at least we know it. Predictable. No nonsense. Enjoy. It’s not romantic or special it is what it is and it’s consistent. $40 per head without drinks. Right on mark.

I just ate at this restaurant, and was pretty disappointed to find out that I had missed a fine print at the bottom of the menu which said there would be 15% surcharge on public holidays. What a ripoff!

We had the short soup and the north lake mince soup which were both too salty and disappointing. We also had some deep fried dim sims that left so much to be desired. The roast duck was alright but it was served just as it is without any veggies or anything on the side.

Overall, you we got very average food for a high price. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
Sandy Heron
A very bad experience. Have been here many times over the years. Yes it's pricey but we usually order the more expensive range of dishes.

Last night we had the duck pancakes and Morten Bay bugs along with fried rice and deep fried spinach. While the food was nice for a different night out the service was extremely poor and disjointed. When 1st seated we had every staff member approach us to ask if we wanted to order. Then nothing! We were ignored. After our duck we had to ask twice for napkins.

To top it off when we asked for the bill it was all written in Chinese. Though I believe the law requires that a bill is provided written in plain language and is clear and legible. When we complained about this we had the bill re written and thrown at us and then other patrons backing up the restaurant saying thing like "You're in China Town mate". They made us feel like we were being racist. All we wanted was to be able to read our bill.

We may of been in China Town but we were not in China.

The blonde waitress yelled at us not to come back. Maybe good advise.

Hands down, the best Chinese in The Valley.
Consistently wonderful food. Kitchen often make me up non-menu items with zero fuss. Very quick service and very good value. I highly recommend!

There are mixed reviews on here for the enjoy inn. It would seem that for the oriental customers this place lacks, but for the western customer it's a gem. Being an Aussie I can only add to this divide being true. No idea how it stacks up against traditional Chinese fare, but if your looking for super tasty western style Chinese, all your favourite flavours, then this place is the jackpot.

Also read some complaints about portion size. Well... there were 6 of us and we paid 30 bucks a head for a banquet and we all rolled out the door and still left a heap there. We will definitely be back! Often.

When I read Sam Wong's review on the Enjoy Inn I recounted my own experience last year. Sydney friends invited me out for a Friday dinner at 7pm. The restaurant was 100% full once we were taken to our table. I noticed we were the only Orientals seated.

Unperturbed I ordered dinner for four. Four fried quails, a stir fried beef, salt & pepper prawns, steamed silver perch and stir fried vegetables. The quails were over cooked in the deep fryer. The rest of the food whilst palatable did not taste or look like authentic Cantonese cuisine. Looking around we understood and accepted that Enjoy Inn now catered for the Caucasian taste and good luck to them.

After we finished our meal we were sipping hot tea for 15 minutes and chatting. Suddenly, a u-shaped silver perch appeared at our table. We had forgotten about our steamed fish and looking at the fish so had the chefs! The fish had been in the steamer >30 minutes instead of 10 minutes. The skin had dried out and shrank making the fish u-shaped and it was soaking in gravy and a thick layer of oil. I told the waitress we were not accepting the over cooked fish and would refuse to pay for it.

Fortunately for the cashier my friends pulled me outside while one of them settled the restaurant bill. I was told the cashier still insisted we pay for the over cooked fish. Sayonara and never again!

Coming off a cruise ship on a hot summer day. We are hungry. 2:30 pm and we walked into this restaurant, having noticed its Chinese name which is the name of a relatively well known Chinese restaurant in Melbourne.

Couple of tables of mostly non Chinese customers. 31 of us settled in around 3 tables. We ordered the same food for each table.

No tea. Just water that taste like coming straight from a tap. The food came. To cut the story short the food is very below par in terms of presentation, smell and taste. The price and quantity is average.

Yes. Dry stir fried beef and noodles is a plate of anaemic looking noodles with few slices of beef. There is no so called wok feel at all.

Hokkien fried rice is a complete failure ended up with disgusting short grain rice in some type of salty flavour watery gravy.

The service? What service?

Not coming back again.

Great restaurant. Has been consistently good over many years. Great food and excellent customer service. Perfect place in Chinatown to enjoy quality food in a pleasing atmosphere.

We decided to come in and try out this place as it seemed rather packed on a Friday night. The menu came out and we had a look at all the prices... it was well above any chinese food from sunnybank(at least $5- $10 above). We thought ok? maybe because it's in the valley? We ordered 4 dishes: sweet sour pork, flaming marinated pork chops, fried tofu and beef stir fry. I'd have to say the food came out quite quickly - which was good. That pretty much was the only positive comment I have. The food itself was average and the servings were tiny... we could get double the size and quality at sunnybank!! Not to mention, I had to ask for table water 3 times before they finally brought it out. I finished with a fried ice cream dessert. It had to be the worst I've ever had... the serving was again small.. i asked for chocolate sauce but got nothing.. Very disappointed!

I have been coming here for many years and the food is consistently great and abundant! The staff are super friendly and always greet us at the door and walk us out which is a nice touch. No idea about some of these other reviews, never had a bad experience here. My favourites include the Crispy Beef and the Fried Spinach and there are so many yummy seafood and chicken dishes etc. We usually go in a group of about 6 and share our food and we have never paid more than $28 each and have had heaps of food & endless cups of green tea. Worth trying, it's a lovely place to eat & it's always got plenty of Asian customers too which is always a good sign.

This place DOES NOT DO YUM CHA!!!!
I'm sure the restaurant is great but please change it on the cuisine section.
What makes things confusing is that there is another Enjoy Inn which does.
Aim Siriwat
Very good authentic Chinese food. I would definitely come back here again. Very good service from staff. Ordered the chicken chow mien. Salt and pepper mud crab.

Amazing food and fantastic service. My dad has been going to this restaurant for business lunches for years and he is always greeted by his first name and they make sure there is a cold beer waiting for him. Peeking duck is amazing as well as the crispy spinach and salt and pepper prawns. Make sure you get lychees and Ice cream with a side of Galliano to put on top. Yellow that is.

I found an old review which had been placed under another restaurant from mid 2013. I hope they have improved
The food is very over priced, do not go near the vegetarian mixed entree, it consists of a spring roll and "samosa" that have the same filling, same shell but are wrapped in different shapes. The deep fried kale?? I thought it was garnish, but was considered an item.

The food is ok, overpriced and lacking atmosphere considering the location and surrounding competition. Do not do it to yourself. When it came to bill time, the bill was in another language (is this even legal?). I suspect we were overcharged, but by this point I just wanted to get out of there. Do yourself a favour, visit anywhere else

Our experience was far from enjoyable. Service was slow. Prices were steep for what was served and worse of all, one of the noodle dishes tasted like yesterday's dinner! Really old food heated up and served!! So hard to eat. To top off the night, the table next to is was served their sizzling hot plate which filled the whole room with spicy smoke which forced most of the patrons outside as the air was hard to breathe.

Been here many times and have never been disappointed. Food came out usually really quick and fresh which often makes me wonder why it takes so long to cook the food in any western restaurants. Seafood is always a highlight here. Staff attentive. My DS broke a glass they came and clean straight away, they also cater for our special needs as DS has multiple allergens. Great experience.

I have been a few times over the last 15 years. It's an old school 'fancy' Chinese restaurant: most suitable for white people. But as a HK Chinese person myself, I don't rate it too highly.

Verdict: suitable if you like the 80s Chinese hospitality.
Mitchell.kingston
Some of the best Chinese in Brisbane. I've been going here since I was a child and the food has remained as great as ever, can be a bit expensive but go all out of a feast.

There's a swag of awards on the wall here but the food is lifeless and lacks any depth of flavour. Service is efficient and prompt but there are other venues with more tempting options for me next time.

By far the worst service i have ever had, we had 4 people at our table and all had our entrees and mains serviced seperately so we all ate seperately basically and we asked the waiters about 5 times for our meals to come out at the same time and they advised us that was fine but again tried to give us our neals at seperate times and when we sent it back to have it sent at the same time they just reheated and gave our food back to us, the "fried" tofu was slimey and disgusting, the lemon chicken was the same, no crisp at all just slimey and the chow mein noodles were not cooked it was like eating fried hard noodles. The food was not terrible but it was not nice and the service was appalling, every meal we had ordered had something wrong with it and when we asked to speak to a manager they told us they did not have one and when we told them our complaints about our food they said thats the way the food comes and we should of been specific about our orders. Absolutely appalling service, the rudest waiters evere, even when we were trying to order the waitress walked off mid order and started helping someone else. Dont ever go here it is a HUGE WASTE of time and money.
Roxy Burt
Would recommend! Best service and best Chinese in town. While it's on the pricey side, it's definitely worth it. We had salt and pepper quail, crispy spinach, crispy beef Peking style (one of the chefs suggestions), lemon chicken and barbecue pork in honey sauce. It loses half a point because the pork was chewy and dry but everything was full of flavour. The food came out in no time as well.

Not what it was.... Enjoy Inn has been a Brisbane favourite for at least 15 years, but for the first time we were disappointed... something has changed, and I fear the old favourite may be a memory.
They always were amazingly fast with takeaway orders, ready in about 10 minutes, before you could even get to the restaurant. This Friday, left waiting for nearly 30 minutes, told to wait outside, and finally finding the order had been sitting on a bench for around 10 minutes without being given it.
The food was different too, staples like Enjoy Inn Spare Ribs and Chow Mein were smaller portions and different in style and taste.
Hoping that this was an aberration, but too many changes leave me thinking that something has fundamentally chained, and the old reliable might not be any more.

Sylvia johnson. Best chinese food I have ever eaten, wish you could open a restaurant in Melbourne, we are lacking such a good restaurant, we shared our dishes and every dish was superb, am considering flying back to Brisbane just to enjoy Enjoy Inn again. loved it !

Tastes like cardboard. The service was rushed and not very helpful, the meal was even worse. The san choi bau tasted like they had just scraped it from the gutter outside. Very disappointing -1.5 out of 5
Bronwyn_edwards8
Overcharged and overpriced. We were very disappointed with our experience at this restaurant. The service was quite good for most of the evening - we were with a large party (about 17 ppl total) but we ordered the banquet for the seven people sitting at our table. However, when it came to settling the bill we were charged for 8 people, instead of 7 (we also checked that they hadn't undercharged another table). Despite there obviously only being 7 of us at the table, my friend had to argue with the waitress to explain that we were being overcharged. They refused to reduce the bill for over 10 minutes because they "served food for 8". If they can't count the number of people eating at a table, it isn't the fault of the diners! Eventually, after the manager got involved, they took $30 off the bill (not even the amount of the banquet which was $34) and we were still charged for corkage for our invisible eater, which was really expensive ($35 for the table), especially considering only 5 of us were actually drinking, but at that point we were sick of arguing. The food was ok, but definitely not worth $34 each. I'll never go back there again.

Easily the worst Chinese we have ever had. Every dish was bland and way over salty. Do yourself a favor and try one of the many other restaurants in the Chinatown district.

Diana. Average Chinese food nothing outstanding at all, average service.

Poor standard of meals and service.. We went for dinner last night and initially had really good service, the wait staff were keen and attentive. We liked the way our mixed entree were serviced to us, and it's was alright, however our second course of short soup wasn't very nice, the broth wasn't very clear, had no taste, the dumplings were bland.

Our mains consisting of pork spare ribs were served on a bed of foil, flamed - the dish could have been presented better however the pork was nice but not amazing. The Szechuan beef was really salty it tasted like soy sauce, no real chili flavour, not a big serving and not very nice.

Our really good service flatlined once our mains were served with no offerings of more drinks or anyone asking us how our meal was. The place wasn't busy and they had plenty of staff so it shouldn't have been an issue. We were asked right at the end once our dishes were cleared if we wanted more water, to which we asked for the bill, paid (with surcharge because of the public holiday) and left.

We felt that the food was very overpriced for the quantity we received and the service overall was average. Usually when you had a great Chinese meal you leave feeling happy, and that full you feel like you need to roll to your next destination. We felt disappointed, not satisfied and with empty pockets.

We will not be going back there ever again.
Ilovefoid
Went on a Sunday for a birthday lunch. Service was great! If your looking for thd textbook Chinese taste then this is the place. The price to Serving size ration for the Szechuan chicken was not good enough. However, they have won many awards for a reason. I would try the Hamilton venue as it is newer, the valley one looked a little run down in appearance. 7.5/10

Great Food. Great food. Portions are getting smaller for the price...

Casual get togethers. Great place to meet some friends and share a few dishes, always order the deep fried sea weed and the duck with pancakes. BYO which makes for a reasonable meal, can be a bit of a tight squeeze when busy
Jodie
The food was average and expensive. Check the other hidden jems before going here

Yum!. Best Peking duck EVER. Everything was lovely each time we've visited

Best Chinese in Brissy!. Like many other Brisbane diners, we have been frequenting the Enjoy Inn for 25 years - We keep on going back, and the reason is simple: The food is great! - Eric and Jackie are the wonderful second-generation maîtres d' at this Brisbane institution, which has stood the test of 30 years and still appears to be going strong - So, the décor is not cutting edge, but who gives a s**t when you can eat the best deep-fried quail in the world (IMHO, and I've tried many quail from many places over the years including mainland China) - Yes, the emphasis is on barbeque and deep-fry, so go prepared with a Lipitor chaser - I could appreciate there are some who may not revel in the menu, but certainly the taste is there, and the service excellent - We now have our menu down pat: Deep fried spinach, the quail, the house's flaming pork spare ribs, scallops avec garlic and shallots, and fried rice - And It's BYO! - And Eric's opening up soon at Hamilton: Can't wait! - If we could just rid that corner of Wickham Street of those council officers that lurk about, gouging smokers who drop their butts on the foot-path!
Sandy
Disappointing. The whole group was unhappy - only one good dish (garlic parwns) and MSG throughout. Overpriced for an average feed

25 years and have not had a bad meal. I have been going to the enjoy inn for 25 years and have never had a bad meal yet. Peking Duck 1st & 2nd coarse, BBQ Quails, Crispy Beef, Steamed Silver Perch with ginger. Shallot. Man my mouth is watering just writing this review. Thanks Eric for the many great meals over the years.

I "Enjoy" this Enjoy Inn. Try the Peking Duck! Nice people, decent prices - BYO wine.

If you like oily average tasteless food - go hear - otherwise run

Outstanding!!!. A group of us enjoyed a fantastic meal at Enjoy Inn...

Starting with wonderful spring rolls and quail, we continued on enjoying the calamari, honey chicken, fried pork, sizzling vegetables, a couple of plates of special fried rice, several dishes of the AMAZING peaking duck and more.

The staff offered us excellent service on a busy Saturday evening where every seat was full... we stumbled out with full stomachs agreeing it was an awesome meal with a great atmosphere, at a good price with lots of BYO wine.

Blah. Well, 2 negative experiences in Chinatown in one weekend is very disappointing. This used to be the special occasion Chinese restaurant that could do no wrong. I don't know what happened. Our old favourite steamed scallops in ginger and shallot were delicious, but swimming in an ocean of something very greasy. The deep fried calamari and prawns were so greasy they literally dripped, and the Chinese veg were average. The service was great...10/10...dealing with the drunken, rude, loud patrons ordering western favourites like lemon chicken, pork spare ribs and Mongolian lamb, so I guess they are just catering to the deteriorating tastes of its main patrons. Sad.

Average. I've heard so much about this place and yet when we went for lunch recently I was disappointed.....
The portions were small and taste was average. We found the staff quite solemn and unaccomdating. The price was on the high side and not great value. All in all I wouldn't choose to go back.
I think it's worth the longer drive to Sunnybank as many Asian restaurants in the Valley live by their location.
Hannah
Amazing! Have been going t.... Amazing!
Have been going to this resteraunt for five or so years! Great friendly service and awesome food!
Must try peacking duck (one course is pancakes and two course is pancakes and lettuce) , San chow bou, sizzling steak Chinese style and chicken and cashew!
One of my favourite resteraunts!
Anna
Terrible. We decided to have dinner here after reading all of the great reviews & to say I was disapointed is an understatement. TERRIBLE service, we were still waiting for some mains when other guests at our table had finished eating, we had to ask about 5 times to get water served to the table and the food was very ordinary. Would not recommend it.

Come here EVERY visit to brissy !!!!

Consistently good. This place consistently delivers quality Chinese and excellent service, am yet to have a bad dish.

Chinese New Year Banquet. We have dined at this restaurant on a number of occasions and have not been disappointed but last night was the exception!

Being Chinese New Year, it was a banquet (you weren't able to order from the regular menu) that was $42.80 per head and the seven people in our group, were all left hungry. The food came out so quickly and was plonked on our table with no show of service at all. Most of it was bland and had little taste, which is very unusual for this restaurant. When you mulitply seven people by $42.80, using a normal restuarant menu, you would expect a veritable feast, sadly this was not to be. It was also embarrasing for us as we had raved to the friends that accompanied us, that this was the best Chinese restaurant in China Town, which made us feel like uneducated idiots!

I am quite certain, our family, will not be heading back to this restaurant any time soon, which is sad, as we have always enjoyed ourselves there.
PR
Best by far. Best chinese in brisy by far. Try the mussels in black bean - to die for.
Now has outdoor seating in the mall which is nice in summer.
Cocoa Bean
Fast but NOT Fabulous. Popped in to China town looking for some great Chinese cuisine. We had many options and unfortunately picked "Enjoy Inn" . A name which is not deserved this time. The staff were friendly and attentive. The food came out quicker than any Big Mac. Which in hindsight may have been a better option.
Considering it was near closing time we adjusted our menu choices and ordered two servings of steamed dim sims and a serving of short soup.
Ok, the dim sims were average, what made them worse was the oil slick that they sat in. The short soup was totally flavourless not a hint of flavour. Overall not worth the trek into the Valley.
Kitchen People
Only regular chinese place with highly price. Have pork with flaming fire, with only sweet. order seafood with squid and aloooooooooooooot onion ,You think ..have to be this much ?...we have the table facing the toilet entrance .. ( if your restaurant with award winning food . you have to call chef's robert to come and decorate the restaurant, ).Thank you .

I go every Saturday night, never had a bad experience. Always great food and service.
Very quick aswell which is a plus. Excellent place to dine!!

Pretty tasty. We went to Enjoy Inn after exploring China Town and surrounding area, choosing it based on the fact that it was packed, which we thought was a good sign. And it was! We ordered the duck in plum sauce, and beef with black bean, with a side of fried rice. The rice was different to what we were expecting - not the usual gluggy chinese restaurant rice - which was almost disappointing! But it was still nice. The grains were long and thin... Somehow it tasted healthier? The duck was very rich but still delicious, and the beef was very nice too, my partner's favourite. The drinks were VERY reasonably priced, and we were absolutely stuffed upon leaving, didn't even finish our main dishes! Good price for a good night out!
Tanya
Always been great place to eat and the next generation. Is keeping the. High. Standard. Going. Only 5 stars quality. Here

Went to enjoy a couple of Fridays ago, restaurant was packed but the friendly waitstaff turned a table over for us very quickly. The waiter was very engaging and knowledgeable on the place and menu, our orders were taken quickly and drinks and entrees came out lightning fast considering the full restaurant. The quail was so good I thought about changing my main course for two more, that was until the mains arrived which were also top notch. I couldn't fault anything here, absolutely perfect dinning experience. Thanks you everyone at enjoy inn, my new Chinese destination!
I Love Food
Fabulous!. Wow! Cannot believe I had never been to enjoy Inn before tonight! It was sensational! Fantastic service, friendly, knowledgable staff and even more so that the restaurant was packed. The food was just delicious and probably the best quail I have ever had even compared to some of the well known Melbourne Asian restaurants I have dined in. The prices are reasonable and the meals generous. The deep fried coconut pudding and ice cream is a nice little surprise! I'll definitely be back to this special little place!

Meiwei. Crispy beef was fantastic great chinese ...highly recommend it

Just Great!. Been a regular since 1885 and have never had a bad experience.
The food and service are so consistant and that's what sets it
apart from the competetion and being owned by the same family
since it started speaks volumes for the quality.Well done.
Cris Giovanni Vargas
Dissappointing!. Cramped - This place has poor seating arrangement.
Overprice - Meals were overpriced compare to other Chinese places in the valley.
Poor customer service - Waited over 35 mins + for a simple meal.
Food taste average - Nothing special for its price.
Terrance Mulloy
Always tasty. Never disappointed.. Nothing beats Enjoy Inn on a Friday night. The atmosphere, the hustle and bustle of the Valley, and the exotic smells wafting in from the kitchen, all add up to make this a dining experience my partner and I try to have at least several times a year. Their crispy Peking beef is my favorite - and their crispy roast duck is also highly recommended. The staff are always polite and friendly, and the service is usually quick. It's simply the best Chinese restaurant in Brisbane. End of story.
Fifi
Fantastic Chinese Food. I have been eating at Enjoy Inn for nearly two decades and the food has always been fresh and extremely tasty.. I recommend their Chinese green vegetables in oyster sauce, special fried rice, salt and pepper calamari and sizzling Szechuan prawns. It gets busy, so either book or get there early.
Food: 7.5/ 10
Service: 7 / 10
Ambience: 6.5 / 10

Bland Food at Ridiculous Prices. My husband and I just had dinner here, and unfortunately, we did not enjoy much of anything that we ate --- but ate it because it was ridiculously pricey. We did our research on Urbanspoon before going, and were quite excited about the restaurant but that quickly dissipated once the food started arriving.

The quail came first, and while it was good, it was super salty (even without the salt and pepper dip). And it was all downhill from the quail:

First was the sizzling Sichuan chicken, and I have to say, the chefs have never tasted Sichuan food! The chicken was boneless, skinless chicken and despite the sweet sauce, the dish was bland as can be. The only thing the dish had going for it was that it was hot, scaldingly hot (temperature-wise.)

The second dish was the Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce. Not much to say. The vegetables were decently fresh, but the sauce was runny and somewhat bland.

But the biggest kick in the butt was the steamed silver trout. The waiter steered us towards the trout b/c they were out of the fish that we wanted -- and when the trout arrived, it looked pretty normal, steamed with ginger. It tasted was a bit bland (no salt or pepper on the trout and we had to ask for soy sauce to give it some flavor.) All in all, an average steamed fish at best. But the surprise was when the bill came -- the fish was $50! Never expected that. I guess we should've asked about the price, but when the waiter steers you towards something in that price range, I'd expect him to give us a little warning. Perhaps I'm just naive.

The worst part came at the end of the meal when another waiter (seemingly the manager) stood over me and waited until I tipped and signed the bill. Seems very rude. I almost asked him to leave me alone so I can contemplate how much to tip a $50 fish entree.

I'd never go back to this restaurant and will tell my friends to stay away. Complete waste of money and calories!
Mizanthrop
Absolutely superb. Fast, friendly service and fed a family of 5, including drinks for under $200 (Peking duck, salt and pepper quail: delectable! ) highly recommended!

Wouldnt eat anywhere else!. Best chinese I have ever had, never a bad experience
The Two Tasters
Great food. I have been going there for over 25 years and always found the food to be great. Eric and his staff always provide great service noting that, at times, there are a few issues with the training of new staff which is understandable. We have recommended this place to others and others have tried to recommend it to us. The Deep Fried Quail with salt and pepper is usually on everyone's entree list and always is on ours. Other great choices are Deep Fried White Bait, Crispy Beef, Prawns Enjoy Inn Style, Chicken in Hot Pot, Peking Duck. Choi Sum with Oyster Sauce.

Enjoy inn was deffintately enjoyed!. Had the crispy beef in peakin style and the chicken hot pot in special sauce. Both were great quality. The dim sim entree was one of the best I've had. Also ordered the fried Chinese sausage (lup chong) but at $8 entree, I don't think that one was worth it.

Overall a nice night out. The food there is a tad more expensive than expected, but it was decent.

I have been eating here for 25 years and the quality has been the same every time we go, I have introduced dozens of friends to this establishment. Must have's are, BBQ Quails, Peking Duck, Mud Crab, Crispy Beef, Hokkien Fried Rice, Enjoy Inn Style Prawns. My mouth is watering just writing this review.

Good reliable chinese in the heart of the valley.. Enjoy Inn always pleases and delivers in the heart of the valley.
As with a lot of Chinese restaurants it pays not to order your dish until you want it as ordering multiple dishes at once will likely see them all on your table within about 3 minutes flat!
Great if you are hungry but not for the lingering diner.

Great Food, Service & Value. Haven't been back to Enjoy Inn for a number of years but nothing has changed really. Still very reliable for service, food & good value: 27May11

Huge Disappointment. I did a lot of research to find a great Chinese restaurant in the Valley and thought I'd chosen wisely. We ordered the salt and pepper quail for entree and it was fabulous. It seemed I'd chosen well. Then the mains arrived.

My friend's scallops with ginger and shallots tasted like it had been boiled in water. Completely tasteless. Even the liquor from the scallops just tasted like water. To their credit they took the scallops away and didn't charge us for them, but we expected better.

My mother's Barbecued Pork with Honey Sauce was dry and tasteless with just a smear of honey sauce. She was most disappointed.

My Sizzling Szechuan Prawns were much better, although a little salty, and I've had better at little suburban Chinese restaurants.

Service was good - almost too good - at one point the waitress virtually snatched a plate from under my friend's hand as she put the last morsel into her mouth.

Over $100 for 2 entrees, 3 mains, 3 wines and a soft drink. Plus $24 for parking as they don't validate parking in the Chinatown Mall.

In hindsight, the biggest tip was that of all the diners in the restaurant, not one of them was Asian. A huge disappointment - although, to be fair, the quail was spectacular.

Award Winning - No This Time. Always been on the must do in Chinatown list, unfortunately I should have left it on the list.
I am prepared to offer some forgiveness due to the fact that they were busy, but it does appear that they are always busy.
The spring rolls had been recommended by others, this night they were greasy and bland. The dim sim and dumplings were much better though and I was encouraged that this could turn into a good experience.
The mains arrived in a hurry, with the excpetion of the dish they forgot, and as a result the quality was mixed.
At the end of the night I decided that there are better Chinese establishments in Chinatown.

Nice - but expensive. We had 6 different meals shared between our group. For entrees, the spring rolls were great. Very tasty. The mains were also great, with the BBQ Pork in honey being the pick of the bunch. Service was also top-knotch. All staff were very quick to take away a finished plate or ask if everything was up to standard. The only down-side was the price. For a couple of drinks for each of us plus the 6 meals and spring rolls/dim sims, it was around $215. Will go again - hopefully the prices drop slightly before then.

Quality food every time at Enjoy Inn. Even though it is a fast table turnover you rarely feel rushed and the food is out of sight. I highy recommend the salt and pepper squid. Best ever. The reason why this is one of best Chinese is Brisbane is evident from the first bite. All the ingredients are fresh and made just as you order. Super yummy!!

Very fresh and tasty. Another great chinese for the Valley Mall, a very reliable and fair priced eatery. I would recommend for the the asian food lover. The spicy chicken is great and the dim sims are good too. Bookings are recommended.

Best chinese in Brisbane. The Enjoy Inn has won many awards throughout their history and for good reason. The meals are well priced and the food is of top quality. Will visit again!
