Sisters birthday and she had ,according to her,the BEST Guiness Pie!! I had all day Breakfast. Serving sizes really good. Atmosphere and staff wonderful. 😎 Will come back. Thanks for a great lunchtime experience.

Food was nice until rudely interrupted by a very rude table cleaning staff member who doen't know not to interupt people who are having a conversation and then tells me it's her job to interrupt people quite disappointing.

Nice breezy pub. Good meals at reasonable prices. I had Mediterranean Beef Salad and friends had Prawn & Pesto Salad or the Grilled Barramundi. All god. Staff friendly. Meals were quick.

Good food, great service and a cool vibe! The Irish curry sauce is the best!

Food is undoubtedly incredible, it just takes a while to come and for what you pay, the portion size is very small

Just paid 16$ for a Guinness and a lemon lime and bitters , I feel this is very over priced . No happy ending to be had here .

Although this place is a pub the antiques make it feel more homely. We had the garlic chicken with mash and verges and the lamb cutlets with mash and vege. I live home style cooking so I enjoyed it. Took about 30 minutes to service. Reasonably priced. I have been here a few times and enjoyed the meat and vege dishes.

We dropped in for an early lunch one Sunday afternoon and were probably the first people to order lunch as we waited for the kitchen to switch over from breakfast to lunch (it was about 11.45am – we have a toddler so he dictates our eating times!) The menu is a typical Irish pub food – we chose a seafood basket and a chicken schnitzel. Pretty good value which is always a bonus.

For drinks we had a Kilkenny and soda water. I always find it quite annoying when bars and pubs charge almost as much for soda water as they do for a beer or wine. Our meals came out quite quickly and my husband enjoyed his seafood basket. I, on the other hand, struggled to cut through my severely overcooked schnitzel which came with no sauce (and no offering of condiments). It was SO tough in some places I couldn’t get my knife through. It was way over done and really, really disappointing. It’s not a hard dish to make but they definitely dropped the ball on this one. I wouldn’t hurry back – disappointed.

Ho hum at best, the service is ok, the food moderate at best (overpriced for what it is) I would liken it to 'pub grub' which I suppose is what it's trying to achieve as an Irish bar but serving Guinness is about where the similarities finish. While the service time was good I'd prefer to wait longer for better food. It's a shame given there really is little competition in this area it wouldn't be hard to step it up. Great location but Would I recommend it.. no

Mmmm. Very hungry and looking for somewhere nice for lunch, hubby and I decided on the Celtic Corner Bar and Bistro at Manly. The ambience was lovely.....old Irish pub look and feel to it and open windows looking out onto the street. On a hot day it was reasonably cool and breezy. The waiter/barman, who was Irish, was excellent.........polite and professional. The beer was cold and enjoyable, if expensive at $7 a glass. The food however, let it down for me. I decided to have "the healthy option" as it said on the menu.........Barramundi poached in wine with salad and Celtic Corner special dressing. Well the barramundi was definitely frozen not fresh.........you can tell by taste straight away. If it was indeed "poached in wine" it didn't taste like it at all. In fact it had no taste.......very bland. The salad consisted of lettuce, celery, onion and capsicum only ..........no tomato, no herbs, no sprouts or indeed anything that might have made it look and taste interesting. The "special" Celtic Corner dressing was definitely something out of a bottle. The cost was $18.50. Even though I was hungry there was nothing appetising about that meal. I ate some and left the rest to go home and make some cheese and crackers. My husband, however, had the Guiness Pie mashed potatoes and peas which he said was tasty. Overall it was not good value for money and I would not go back.......nor would I recommend.

We only called in here one night for drinks, but intend to go back to try the breakfast. The prices looked reasonable in comparison the rest of the street & they had a smoked salmon dish I want to try
We made a return visit over the weekend for breakfast as stated above. Coffee was a let down had a strange flavor to it & was weak (see pic) The blend or brand name on the cup was Di Stefano of which I have never heard of! The breakfast dishes are pub food which I did not really enjoy. The smoked salmon was basic Woolworths packet style & the avo was just avo cut up into slices & rather brown & dreary.

It was my first time here. A small casual place with an Irish theme. We went for breakfast and I ordered the traditional breakfast and was disappointed. The service was slow (30 mins +) and it was not hot enough. The bacon was tough with canned baked beans and bread making up the majority of the plate. The knife was also blunt. One of my big hates is when the glassware smells, it was clean but had that dirty dishwasher smell. Yuck. The worst part was probably that we had to sit at a camping table. Please invest in some quality furniture! In saying all this we had a 50/50 split on the meals at my table (50% happy, 50% unhappy). Overall I expect better, especially in Manly. I'll be walking past this place in future!

G & J. The Celtic Corner Bistro are on the whole, consistently good, with their quality of food, which is sadly lacking and very inconsistent, in other places in the locality...It keeps us coming back... Excellent friendly service.. great atmosphere... and doesn't break the bank A+ from us. ☺

Could be so much better. Although the meals are reasonably priced ($20) the quality and taste were lacking. The service was very good but the ambience was ruined by a loud band in the hotel opposite.
Local Diner
What a shame.. Ducked in last night for dinner with wife, OK wasn't expecting 5 star dining just a nice casual meal. I had the Ceasar with Chicken, where do I start? Dressing was in one corner of the plate with the bacon and anchovies buried under the lettuce, so lettuce was not dressed at all, croutons were stale, chicken overcooked and dry. Fishermans platter, chips not seasoned - when trying to salt at table, coarse cooking salt in shaker wouldn't come out.

Thanks. Thank you to the staff who helped make Oma's 80th a great family gathering.

Great atmosphere. Great authentic atmosphere with Guinness and Kilkenny on tap. Friday nights with a live Celtic band are a must as well as the beef and Guinness pie!

Keeping the Irish pub alive. I was feeling a little fragile when we went here for lunch, but I was quickly cheered up. There's not too many Irish pubs left, this offers the lovely dank decor you want from an Irish pub and is more set up as a restaurant. It offers well priced, comfort food (exactly what I needed) and Irish beers on tap. The staff were lovely, it seems to be a family business that looks after the patrons. They offered us a tab to keep drinking, however we drove but we'll take them up on that another time. Excited to find a welcoming, comforting little place to chill out, will be back.

Why are there no great restaurants by the water in Manly? We ended up here and the food was generally good but it wasn't the great meal out we were hoping for. One friend ordered the beef and Guinness pie which she loved. The pastry was perfect. Another ordered the Thai Barramundi curry. This meal was very disappointing. The sauce was just a brown sauce with some coriander thrown in - clearly made by someone who has no idea about Thai cooking. My Greek salad with prawns was nice except for the dressing. They should make their own dressing and use less of it. This one was dominated by dried oregano and the leaves were swimming. The prawns were delicious and cooked just right. So, it was a mixed bag. I'd give it another go but am still waiting for someone to open something great nearby.

Staff were really friendly, we took the 2nd last available table & were quickly looked after. We had the spring rolls as an entree, these were really good considering I expected them to be those fresh from the freezer type. We ordered our mains, I really wanted the garlic chicken but this was unavailable so I had the spice crusted lamb & my partner had the steak & garlic prawns. Both were pretty good, however, my partners steak was overcooked & my lamb was really fatty. Not too bad but not great & a little overpriced. If the food was as great as the staff I'd definitely be a regular. Will go back & have drinks & a cheese platter next time I think.

Great lunches. Fantastic place for lunch, friendly, prompt service with the best steak sandwiches and BLT's in town! We never leave disappointed and always look forward to going back.

Great Home Cooked Meal. Had a wonderful chicken, veg & mash meal here, but for $20 for lunch, I really can go anywhere else. Not that there was anything wrong with the place, but some lunch specials would have been nice.

I went to Celtic Corner midweek for lunch. I wanted to try it as I had walked by many times before and it looked interesting. Looking like a pub, but with more of a bistro feel, I was greeted by a friendly waiter with a relaxed and pleasant demeanor. Although the restaurant, which is situated right on the corner, has some great outdoor tables along its two facings, it was too windy so I sat inside.

The waiter brought me a bottle of water and glass right away. It was a little after noon and with me included, there were only three tables occupied.

I looked over the menu which was on the table and noticed that the mains were roughly $20-26. Even the Light Fares section’s meals were $17.90. Sadly, there were no lunchtime specials. There was an All Day Breakfast section which seemed a bit more reasonable with nothing higher than $13.90. In that I had a 25% off coupon I decided to splurge and go for the Garlic Chicken ($20) and chose to have the garlic mash and vegetables on the side.

I ordered and paid for my meal at the counter and the waiter said it wouldn’t be long. I sat back down to catch up on some reading, noting when other customers showed up filling the restaurant to only about 1/3 full for the entire lunch hour.

My meal came out approx. 20 minutes later, but it didn’t matter; I wasn’t in a rush and the reason I came to Celtic Corner was because it had that feel to it.

For the price, my meal was quite a large serving. All of it hot and fresh! The garlic mash was the first fragrance I noticed. The waiter, who was still standing there, asked if I’d like fresh ground pepper. I certainly did and this was an unexpected, but appreciated gesture!

Having to try the mashed potatoes first, I dug in. Definitely like homemade – both smooth and lumpy in texture! Although fairly creamy, I doubt this was made with whole milk or butter, but still pretty good. The garlic was a great addition to what can sometimes be a bland side.

My vegetables were fresh and I’m guessing steamed but almost had a hint of being roasted. Still with a bit of firmness to them, they were not al dente. I had a generous selection of carrots, green beans, zucchini, broccoli and a small bit of corn on the cob. Tasty, healthy and a nice colour addition to the presentation of the plate.

My chicken, still with breast bone in it, was beautifully roasted. It did say on the menu it was stuffed, but it looked like it was cooked with the ingredients on the top. I say this as the skin wasn’t crispy, but very moist and succulent as was the chicken breast itself. The bone-in makes a huge difference in flavour! All over my plate was the juice from the roasting pan; not gravy, but a delicate, yet savoury au jus that finished off the dish perfectly!

Over all, it really was wonderful. Worth the $20, but for me, this is something I’d rather be having as a dinner. I would come back for this and even recommend this spot, but for lunch, I find it a bit pricy and not enough choices to suit every budget. I’d like to see this place come up with a few more inexpensive options or a lunch menu and I’ll bet the customer traffic would increase.

Undercooked chips, strange (unpleasant) gravy and our beers were delivered long after the food.

Good Guiness on tap. Niblies are good. Nice atmosphere for something different than the pub.

Love the chicken sandwich! Really nice staff in this place.
