With a red gate at the front of the building, Chinese Garden can be easily spotted from the road. Located right across Coles, the restaurant has limited parking space.
Ordered Deep Fried Beef Strip with Peking Sauce. It was delicious and perfectly seasoned, a great dish to be eaten along with white rice. Also ordered Sweet & Sour Pork, which had a crunchy texture that goes along with the pineapple and the sauce. For the vegetables, ordered Green Beans with Mince which was slightly on the salty side, but great when eaten with rice, as well as the Garlic Stir Fry Bok Choy that balances all the other dishes.
Great place to have an authentic Chinese meal. Would definitely be coming back in the future.
Dined here many times and have always had a good experience, love the Peking Duck and Prawn chips! This is my go to Chinese restaurant in Brisbane.
Great food, and seriously the best customer service we have ever experienced. The staff were so kind and helpful and went above and beyond to make our dinner experience enjoyable. Thank you!
One of my favourite chinese restaurant to go to, especially if you're holding a function or family dinner with a big group (8+). The restaurant is always busy (so book ahead) but the food (we have the banquet option) is always full of flavour and there's always a great variety/option.
Great food and polite staff. Mothers's day was very crowded but did not effect the quality of food at all. Staff were very apologetic. I'll be going back there again.
Love the Oysters in XO sauce. We went there for lunch and food is quite reasonable compared to the other Chinese restaurants near the city. So far this is the best Brisbane Chinese restaurant I've ever been to. Will definitely come back.
Have been going here for almost 10 years, every time the food has always been great and workers are nice and attentive.
Only downside - maybe they should renew the decor inside as it does give off a very old fashioned vibe. Also, food is more on the pricey side - however for a special occasion or a nice treat it’s an awesome place that’s worth it.
Ordered the Lemon chicken, beef in garlic and black pepper, spring rolls and large special fried rice. The beef dish was amazing although I did find a hair in my meal, it was still delicious. The special fried rice was a bit bland with not much flavour. The lemon chicken and spring rolls were decent. The service was exceptional and friendly. The takeaway came out in a timely manner. I'm always on the lookout for the best lemon chicken - although I haven't found it here, I will definitely be coming back to try their other menu.
Great Food, Friendly and Efficient, we have been coming here for 20 years.
Always had great quality food, dine in or take away :) :) :) ....................................................................................................................................................................................................
The best and most authentic Chinese restaurant at Brisbane ! My hubby and I are pretty fussy with food as we both are from Malaysia and the food at Malaysia is very yummy! After trying quite a few restaurant around Brisbane, we have decided this is the best and we come here almost every Sunday for lunch . The lunch special Menu is value for money!
This is THE best Chinese food in Brisbane. I have been here a dozen times, but more recently last week with a group of 12 people. We ordered a variety of starters to kick things off, and i had really talked up my favourite dish to my friends, Sizzling Sirloin Steak with garlic and black pepper sauce, so 1/3 of the table ordered it. Everyone loved it. The steak is so tender it can be cut with a spoon. Staff are lovely and friendly, and the meals are very cheap. Value for money is incredible. We all left with very full Bellies, and were extremely satisfied! Can't wait to come back again!
It's been months since we last visited Chinese Garden. The owner is Viet/Chinese and the restaurant serves Cantonese cuisine. Our group of 8 adults decided on one of several Chinese Banquets on offer.
As expected on a Sunday night, the restaurant was bustling and quite noisy with excited toddlers adding to the crescendo. This "mayhem" is what we are used to in Cantonese restaurants around the world as people try to talk above the noise. All good fun and it improves our appetites.
Our first dish was served after a 40 minute wait. The steamed oysters were fresh but not as plump as I had hoped. Next came the stir fried lobsters served on a bed of noodles. It was an excellent dish. I said to my girlfriend we will return for a second round of lobster very soon. The other seven dishes were all good albeit not spectacular. At the end of the meal we were served with a complimentary hot dessert and fruit. We walked out smiling with contented tummies!
Hubby and I had a 7pm meeting near Mt Gravatt and felt like a bit of a treat. We saw the reviews and thought we'd check it out. We ordered prawn toast, satay skewers, sizzling Mongolian lamb and a deep fried plum duck. Everything we amazing. So tasty and the service great. Feeling quite piggy and full until the lovely waitress said "You're not very big eaters are you?" No judgement here, should have added dessert 😉
Delicious food. Great atmosphere. Extremely friendly staff. Food is always great very obvious that only the freshest and local produce has been used. Omelettes are to die for
Came here with the family a couple of days ago. This is one of the very few asian restaurants that actually have fantastic table service!! Doing a great job guys! There's one young man who always provides nothing but excellent customer service.
Food is always of high standards havent tasted a dish that was disatisfying yet and there may not exist.
Highly recommended family restaurant will be a regular customer for a long time.
Thanks Chinese Garden!!
Went to the reasturnat to order takeaway was greeted warmly. Busy saturday night. Took a little while to get food but i was happy to wait was busy. Gave me a drink on the house for wait. Which was amazing. Now the food has to be the best chinese food i have had was amazing
This restaurant has been trading for years prior to the current management, which makes its glory shining brighter by the chef's traditional Chinese culinary skill. I was told that the head chef was the previous head chef at Landmark (before Landmark's production went downhill). Although what they served are mostly ordinary Chinese food that you will expect in a suburban Chinese restaurant, you can still find that the delicious tastes are coming from quality and high culinary skill. Suggest you to ask waiter for the chef suggestions, the steamed oysters and steamed whole silver perch won't let me down every time. If you are lucky to dine in at the right season, order the mud crab and you will be surprised.
The food was so so good oh my goodness ! The service was amazing and the staff were so friendly. It is a quiet atmosphere, but extremely clean, neat and welcoming. The food was out within 10 minutes of ordering, and everything was fresh and packed with flavour :)
Great food and Fantastic service.. I recently ordered takeaway that consisted of 17 dishes with and additional 6 fried rice for my wife's birthday. The staff were fantastic and very pleasant. The food was on time and they went out of their way to ensure it was ready and kept hot which included putting the food into a styrofoam box. The food was delicious and fresh and everyone at the party commented on how good it was. To all the staff at Chinese Garden thank you , my wife had a fantastic birthday.
Excellent chinese food. quiet atmosphere unlike other crazy chinese restaurants. excellent customer service
Get takeaway from here a lot since moving to mount gravatt this year. Food is delicious although abit expensive which they just put up. Have not eaten in store yet, but lady who serves me is always nice and friendly. Wonderful food very tasty.
FANTASTIC! The food here is.... FANTASTIC!
The food here is absolutely divine. Especially the duck in plum sauce and the rainbow fillet steak. Service was very quick and friendly. While the decor is lack lustre it was extremely clean and practical. Prices are reasonable. The packed tables are testimony to how good this restaurant is. Definitely will be returning.

UPDATE 25/06/15: Had family dinner here tonight and all dishes were amazing! Only issue was the fish came de-boned in which I didn't like as I rather to see the fish still intact when reaching the table. The crab noodles were slightly too soggy and bland. Staff were super friendly and made our dining enjoyable and calming. My ratings remains the same as I shall explore more dishes next time.
INITIAL REVIEW: I Like This Place. Yes, I do like this pleasant place. Although it's not flashy with not much decor, but food is good and very helpful staff. Great dishes and very consistent with their quality. I like it and rate it 7/10
Definitely the best Chinese restaurant in the southern suburbs. Love the Peking style ribs here
Consistently excellent quality and value for 27 years! Hostess is delightful and though decor needs updating, the tables are almost always packed every night of the week! A family takeaway tradition that never disappoints.
They have a very nice dine in lunch menu with nothing over $10. The place needs a bit of decoration, but the food is still a delight. The service is usually impeccable.
Chicken chow mein or just chow mein is always a favourite. But each restaurant has their own and the taste does vary from each restaurant. I personal love the chow mein from little Singapore in sunnybank. The huge portion as well at the ingredients in the combination option is always well balanced into quantity. The chow mein at Chinese garden didn't particularly have any significant taste. It's just your average chow mein. The assortment of chicken and veggies was good in ratio and portion wise wasn't too bad either.
Relatively happy with this restaurant, compared to other Brisbane Chinese Cuisine, especially those in the Valley. Proper Cantonese dishes for the Chinese New Year banquet. They were not adequately staffed for the night, leading to them half answering questions and then talking to people on another table, or giving instructions to other staff but we just have to be patient. At least they had the right type of dishes for the festivity season! Friendly enough waitstaff but need to chase up on refills of tea.
Everything was looked to me perfect, service also perfect. Foods very late to bring to the tables, otherwise it might be the one of the best. Not all the boys looks to happy to work, because the way we got treated by the waitresses and waiters. They is something missing feeling.
Besides this, everything is acceptable
Best authentic Cantonese-style Chinese dishes in Brisbane 🤤
Must-order: Crispy skin chicken
Best Chinese restaurant in brisbane for sit down family meals.
I love how they include complimentary prawn crackers, soup and dessert. Old school chinese restaurant that no one does now.
Great food! The lady was lovely, service was 10/10. Definitely be back.
A lovely Chinese restaurant with great service and awesome value food. Everything you'd expect from a local Chinese restaurant.
The food taste very good. The waiters are so friendly and can speak Cantonese!
Yummy and tasty food! Will definitely return to try other food they have.
