Review Saccharomyces Beer Cafe - Brisbane

Had a nice lunch here. The baguette was homely, fresh and tasty! A simple menu but made well. Loved the punk/alternative music. Good range of beers. Had a microbrewery ambiance. Was a bit disappointed to order a Coke and received a different brand version (Aldi no sugar cola) which I wasn't really a fan of. Otherwise a good lunch spot.

Hidden gem! Fantastic range of craft beers and informative staff that will help you choose the best one if you’re not sure from the massive range or get a tasting paddle and try them all. Blown away by the meatballs and gravy. Will definitely visit again!

This place is a hidden gem in Southbank. Absolutely amazing craft beer. The owners and staff are really amazing. The food is fantastic and prices are very affordable. Really cool vibes. Great area to relax for beers and talking with friends. Definitely worth checking out. Tucked away in fish lane.

Great range of beers, delicious food and lovely staff. You can't ask for much more! Oh yes you can... They also have a chill atmosphere and play great tunes to boot.

Great craft beer bar in modest digs with a bit of a beer-geek dive feel. Craft brewery stickers fill every inch, with some famous craft brewery tin tackers and artwork - the whole feel of the place screams 'we like beer'. This was something that brought me right back to breweries and bars in the US. And the tap selection was the icing on the cake. Although it was about knock-off time on a school night when I visited, this would be an epic local hangout, or at the least worth a visit if you're into local Brisbane and domestic (and possibly international?) craft beer.

This is a must check out for the South Brisbane area. The food is tasty and fresh, the atmosphere is very relaxed and the staff are nice. Really interesting to have the Belgian food combined with some great Aussie grog on tap. All tucked away in a super chill spot in South Brisbane.

Amazing hidden gem on Fish Lane in South Brisbane! The food is consistently amazing, especially the boulets! Their selection of spirits is fantastic and I always love trying different indie beers they have. It's great to go to such an accepting and chill bar with my friends - we feel really safe there! Brilliant to see that they have hired some openly queer bartenders - they're awesome to have a chat with and make us feel at home. Thanks guys, we'll be back again soon :)

I was recommended this place by a friend and I'm very glad I followed his recommendation. I love craft beer so was very happy to attend and see the excellent range of on tap (and other) beers. It was good to see a variety of different craft breweries represented from all over the East Coast. The atmosphere was great too. I hope I can return again soon.

There’s lots to like at this atmospheric Fish Lane watering hole.
◽️Cracking revolving craft brews on tap
◽️Inoffensive, fuss free bar food
◽️Cool staff; laidback & friendly
◽️Shazam-worthy garage rock playlist
◽️Sky lights | hanging greenery | misting fans in warmer weather
◽️Pinnies & board games (say hello to the reigning CHAMP of both the Twilight Zone & Connect 4!)
◽️Prices typical of the area

We’ve seen it both pumping with punters at night & then with an eclectic mix of peeps on a chilled Sunday arvo. Recommend a visit...but beware the untidy unisex toilet situation. Don’t like to talk smack, but either cross your legs or leg it if nature calls. Minus one point sorry. Despite all the good stuff, that final impression still lingers.

I freaking love this place. Great beers you can order takeaway. You can have Mac and cheese multiple ways- I’m a purist so have it regular and it’s good. Bacon is a delish add on too. Burgers are great and only $10 on a Tuesday. Love the service- they’re good banter.

Boutique beers and some are tasty little numbers. I've had a stout and a couple of sours (Cactus etc.) here and really enjoyed them.

I shared a side of fries. The chipotle tomato relish was absolutely killer. Only criticism is that the ramekin wasn't piled high with it.

The jerk chicken burger lacked acidity and flavour in general.

Loved the live music that was on Monday night and the chill vibe that the place is also known for. There are some pinball machines, fairy lights over the street and loads of kegs out there front for collection, which lines up with the tastiness of the beer and prices.

Deductions mainly for the burger.

With everything else SBC had going for the menu is a letdown. They have friendly staff, a good vibe, nice location, and great beer choices. Would you like your burger with beef, chicken, lamb, or just veggie? Want chips with your burger? Sorry, they don't have a deep fryer. The burger was good but overpriced at $15 with absolutely no side. The desserts are good but go somewhere else for mains.

Good range of beers and it's located at perfect spot to start or finish a little pub crawl.

Enjoyed the games on the tables and the pinball.

A small establishment with a cool vibe. The place was quite busy on a Sunday afternoon, lots of people enjoying a beer while playing the in house pinball machines, old arcade games and board games. Food was decent, if not a little overpriced, and there were a lot of beer choices for those interested.

Always a great range of beers, usually including a couple of odd ones. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly, and happy to share their expertise. The physical set-up is unpretentious. I always enjoy going there.

Just went to this place for a drink, it's a pretty nice place. Well set up and very spacious. The guy at the bar is really friendly too, will be back.

Love the location, love the friendly staff there, and 10 different kinds of beer.
just one cons is: is pretty hot there especially on a hot afternoon, since is not air-con. but is totally fine when u hit the bar at night. kitchen closed at 9pm, so order your food earlier.

SBC Bar is a great spot with good vibes and good brew. The staff are super friendly and their Mac and Cheese is off the charts. Sunday afternoons just wouldn't be the same without a cheeky session of UNO and one of their cold brews. What more could you ask for?

I really wanna like this place, it's got a great vibe and a great location. The food is pretty good and the beer is crafty, but not the rubbish kind. But everytime I come here I am confounded by some ridiculous management decision - like no breakfast on weekends and no serving dinner after 720 pm... please let me love you SBC!

I have been here several times for breakfast - food is delicious. I recommend the Eggs Benny with haloumi. They also do a tasty breakfast burger. Night menu is simple with burgers and sliders - I liked their Juicy Lucy slider. I am not a huge beer drinker but I did try a beer named Magical Unicorn Christmas Beer which was interesting. The cafe itself is quite sleek and modern and I like that I have never had to wait for a table. I will def be a regular

Love Saccharomyces! This is a great bar, with enthusiastic and knowledgable bar staff. Have been here repeatedly with a group of friends and there is always a fun, relaxed atmosphere. The fit out is great, the beer is delicious (for the gluten intolerant, ask about the low gluten beer: tastes like real beer! SO great), and the collection of board games is a fun touch. Also really enjoyed breakfast here - groups of all ages, including families with young kids, were dining that morning. Saccharomyces has something for everyone and we will definitely be going back :).

We loved the furniture, bespoke lighting and the laneway position. We disliked the dude food. Forget anything fresh and think smoked, pulled, topped burgers and tachos. A lovely selection of craft beers and we certainly needed one given the lack of air conditioning or cool breeze. Perhaps it was broken.

Will probably be loved by craft beer heads but not an option for families, couples or anyone wanting something other than beer or a pulled pork burger
