Review Paddock Bar - Brisbane

Rhiannon Green
Food was divine however it did take awhile for the bar man to stop chatting long enough to take our order and although very clean, plenty of space, music and channels the tables are so low inside it makes eating a little difficult.

So tired of the lacklustre lunchtime service at this bar. Ordered a lemon lime and bitters which took ages to make and was made with bitters, a squeeze of lemon, a chunk of lemon, lemon juice and soda, so was actually a lemon lemon and bitters, making it a not great drink..and a salad with pieces of rocket that were actually dark green and slimy. Last time I was there I got given something I hadn’t ordered. Another time the bartender/ waiter shouted across the empty room that my drinks were ready...this all mainly seems to stem from wait staff who are completely uninterested in their job. Pity it’s the closest to work, or I would stop putting myself through it.

Haven't been there in a while as the service was terrible! Went to watch the Rugby tonight, only a few people in, served a dark beer in a brandy glass???? Had a pizza that was inedible, really, only one other meal served ,fries.... Took 1/2 hour at least for someone to clear the table and ask if we finished with the pizza, I complained, was then offered a free drink hardly free when I had already paid for an inedible pizza!!! 3 staff on a chef chatting behind the bar, I don't understand this situation, it's a lovely spot, could be great place......

Went there to catch up with friends and have a nice coldie. We were there at the same time as the FOMO Music Festival, which spoiled it slightly as we could not really speak over the noise of the Festival. Don't want to let this spoil the review because obviously this was out of their control. Liked the atmosphere. Loved the huge open windows that allowed for easy "people gazing". Beer was cold, service was friendly. What more can you expect?

Bat staff were really friendly, food was good and reasonably priced. Happy hour 4-6pm Mon to Wed was welcomed and the outside tables great place to relax after work..

Location was convenient for a drink and meal before heading into a show at The Tivoli. Basic pub menu - American style food (complete with the processed cheese). Ordered a chicken pizza and loaded fries. Two very hungry people and we found the pizza to be the absolute worst pizza we have ever tasted. God knows what the “cheese” concoction was. Hubby ate a couple of slices out of desperation. I took two bites and couldn’t stomach anymore. Thought of staying for another drink, just to pass the time before show but the singer was so loud and awful we decided that it was preferable to stand in the line to await doors to open at The Tivoli. Such a shame as the location is fabulous and the fairy-lights decked tree outside is beautiful. But the food and entertainment was enough to send us packing.

Meals were nice. Asked what coffee's they have and was told anything so I just settled for a cappuccino . No wheelchair access to outside deck so disabled ppl cannot enjoy that area.

Food was pretty good but lack of proper tables inside. We had reserved a table but it was outside and raining. Two of my friends also received their meals about half an hour after everyone else.

After making every attempt to ask what the local beer was at happy hour today, the bartender managed to pour me a schooner for $15. No effort there. Not returning.

We had a great experience at the Paddock Bar right on Gregory Terrace. Nice location under the large umbrellas. We had Paddock Ale and the pulled chicken pizza. Very tasty! Bar staff were attentive and polite. Open plan design with lots of casual seating.
Below the Rydges hotel we thought we try some food while waiting for some friends. Tried the fish tacos, nice serving but a little bland. The fish was also a little chewy but the dish did go well with my beer. Service was good and seating and decor done nicely.

I was excited when I noticed the coffee blend Espresso di Manfredi, a personal favorite of mine. The coffee came out with good strength in pretty purple cup, not perfectly presented, but I wasn't expecting that from a cafe bar. The Manfredi flavor was marred by the burnt tinge unfortunately. Loved the airy, spacious interior & friendly staff, a great place to relax after visiting the Exhibition, maybe a cocktail would have been a better choice all round

Coming back onto the food review scene I forgot to take photos pre-eating, stumbled and made awkward mid-eating photos. So apologies for that.

Juicy burgers without that bullsh*t brioche bun. Am I the only one bucking the trend? Do others hate brioche as much as me? There is no reason to have an overly sweet bun with a juicy burger, unless you have a terrible burger. Then and only then should you try and hide your terrible recipe with every other taste you can.

Pizza I heard was "oh my gawd, it's soo yummy".

Calamari was cooked to perfection, and had an extra pop of spices that we argued about... long story short; I like new and interesting flavours, others don't like change from regular salt and pepper.

Ate at the paddock bar whilst attending the Caravan show at the RNA Showgrounds. All I can say is the food was terrible. Firstly there was no gluten free at all except for the sweet potato fries (which they had run out of). Secondly, the 2 Angus burgers ($15 each) we bought, the meat patty was stone cold. Took them back and were immediately given two replacements which were also stone cold. They obviously are pre-cooking the burgers and then microwaving them!!! Got a refund without asking and another 2 which were only slightly warm (not hot). Very poor indeed. To top it off the quality of the meat patty looked very poor and not what I would have expected from something attached to the Ridges hotel brand. Very disappointed and would not eat there ever again. Compared to the deep fried side show food at the RNA, I would go there every time in the future.
