With Chinese cravings I finally ordered from Peng You with takeaway on a Friday night. The service was swift and efficient and the prices were good for the area. We ordered the fried rice, beef and I always want to try the wonton soup. I loved that the rice had Chinese sausage in it and I did enjoy the wonton soup as well as the beef. Everything was delicious, the portions were good and I’ll definitely come back again and dine in to try more.
Easily one of the best Chinese themed places I’ve been. A little expensive - but all in all The chairman’s platter is amazing. and the Peking duck is some of the best I’ve had in brisbane.
Loved this little place and their friendly service. They offer a really good lunch menu in addition to their regular one. Steam fish and rice and Mongolian beef were really good. The owner is awesome, super fun and friendly.
The serving portions were really generous and they tasted great (but maybe just a tiny little salty for my taste buds), however the food came really slowly. really friendly staff, and great ambience. And it is really easy to park in the Gasworks.
Great dinner with great mates. Joyce Chu looked after us as if we were family. The wine list was surprisingly good with some interesting varietals. I’ll be back soon.
I have had Peng You four times in two months. This has to be the freshest place for Chinese Food. They do Uber Eats as well if you are local which I have tried twice. I would highly recommend if you need some healthy food. Everything has been GREAT!!!!! I love the San Cho Bouy, crispy duck, homemade noodles, steam veg, spring rolls, dumplings, chicken and vegetables, fried rice and well I can't think of anything else I have had. It has lovely setting over Gasometer at Gasworks which lites up at night. If you are going out and need to impress the tables at the very front are so lovely. However only a few weeks ago did I go the very back of the restaurant and its amazing. You go up a few stairs and the artwork and decor was from 1940's Jap war time. So cool. They have extensive wine list and the owner (lady) is very engaging. One note, if she asks if you want fried rice make sure its not a main...we got caught out on that once. Steamed bowl of rice is priced fine but side order of fried rice is priced as main. Overall love this place and the service is pretty good.
Very nice restaurant and bar in the Gasworks precinct, I visited for lunch yesterday and ordered the steamed fish with ginger and shallot sauce w rice. Service was reasonably quick and food was enjoyable.

It's not just a Chinese restaurant, but you can feels that you are dinning with your family.
Restaurant name "Peng You" in Chinese means "Friend". Founder of Peng you "Joyce" who said: Once you leave home in your life, most important are your friends, and that is why we have this restaurant. We value friendship and every moment you spend here she said.
I am a lucky person who live around Gasswork, and that I can call Peng you is my Kitchen, with value of amazing service. But also the quality of food, and """""WINE"""""", Joyce's son David who knows as wine expert really surprise me with selection of wine while you have Duck, pork or fish.
This is the place that if you are looking for experience of China Canton food. But also, you may making lots of friend here.
I travel to China a lot for work and can definitely say the food is as authentic here than it is there.
Every time I dine here, the food is always fresh and the staff are wonderful to deal with. And they have a great range of wine and cocktails.
Cannot recommend enough!
Coming from an Asian background, I can definitely say Peng You has such good and authentic Asian food with such lovely flavours. The food isnt greasy and reasonably priced for the quality.
Also, the staff are so attentive and polite.
I will definitely be back!
Good food, great location and ambience, enjoyed ourselves very much 😘😘😘
Roast Duck Curry was sensational 💕💕💕
We will definitely be back
Love the food and service
Had a Groupon lunch last Sunday. Ordered the Sung Choi Bow, Beef Shin Hot Pot & Mixed Seafood in Chilli Sauce. Overall production was good. Although the beef was not exactly shin beef (close to beef brisket), beef was tasteful and tendered. Seafood was done perfect with sizzling plate which kept the temperature for the food. Service from wait-staff was hospitable but there still rooms of sincerity to be top up. Experience was average....
We attended Pang You China Kitchen at Gasworks on a Friday evening (6:30 ish) and managed to get a table straight away. The waiter was attentive and prompt, if not a little serious. We ordered the Chicken and Cashew and Pork Belly dishes as the mains and they came out promptly. Portion size was appropriate.
The Chicken and Cashew dish was a decent size and full of cashews, Asian greens and tasty succulent chicken. The side of Jasmine rice complimented the dish well.
Pork Belly dish was well cooked and had a beautiful crackling. The pork was served on a decorative Asain green leaf and the hoisin and chilli sauce complimented the saltiness of the dish well.
Interestingly, the restaurant played jazz music.
A little pricey for an Asian restaurant of mid-standard, but would recommend.
I've dined a few times at Peng You but I always go back for the dumplings. The service is friendly, you can usually get a table at lunch time with minimal wait time and you can sit inside or outside.
This time we sat in side and order a few different dumplings including: Steamed Prawn Dumplings, Chiu Chow Pork and Peanut Dumplings and Pork and Prawn Shao Mai. For mains I had the Steamed Fish with Minced Ginger and Shallot Sauce, Baby Bok Choy and Steamed Rice (delicious) and my friend had the Twice-Cooked Peking Beef with Baby Bok Choy and Steamed Rice.
All the dishes were served hot and pretty quickly which was great! I had to ask for vinegar (maybe it's unusual?) which I usually have with dumplings. The fish was really, really good and full of fresh flavours.
In all it is a great spot if you are in the Gasworks complex, particularly for a quick business lunch. I'll go back when I'm travelling through.
joined one of the CNY lunch events and got blown away with the lion dance performance. the staffs were friendly and gave their best speed of service despite the crowd.
What better way to celebrate the Chinese New Year than by spending it with a big group of "peng you (朋友)" (aka friends)? And that's exactly what I did - I was fortunate enough to be invited to Peng You's CNY Eve Cocktail Lunch and met heaps of new peng you there. What is most striking about Peng You is definitely the ambience - with its oriental red lanterns and grey cobbled walls, it feels as if you've travelled back in time.
Love this place best gyoza I have ever had my partner and I often come here just for the gyoza it's always fresh and juicy so much flavour.
Great service, great food.
Fish cakes and hot/sour soup for entree, then pork belly and duck curry. They brought us a duck roast to start my mistake but quickly corrected it :)
Pretty good value for the portion sizes too.
Highly recommended and def deserves more than an average score!

What's a girl's best friend? Surprisingly, not diamonds, but rather, scrumptious food and good company. And that's exactly what I got at Peng You China Kitchen & Bar. The menu features traditional Chinese recipes with a modern twist - including Chinese favourites like the Peking Duck, Gyoza, Sung Choi Bow, just to name a few. Unlike any other steamed fish that I've had, our Baby Barramundi ($39.5) turned up tightly wrapped in banana leaves. Inside lay a perfectly steamed barramundi, dressed with bruised lemongrass, sliced red chilli, and Thai basil. The flesh was firm, yet oh-so-delicate, and the subtle flavours in the different garnishes complemented the barramundi very, very well. Definitely worth trying!
Enjoyed my lunch special - delicious choices and good value for money. Particularly like their Pork and Chive Gyozas. The dipping sauce is perfect. Ice teas are good also. Will be back again! Friendly service and nice ambience.
Expensive but fresh tasty food. Had a great night at this place, overlooks the sky ring at Gasworks which is really nice.
We were served by the owner and she was very helpful.
I would recommend sharing your dishes as they are very large. If they offer you fried rice it will cost $18-25
So don't think they are offering a "side" dish which we thought after we ordered our mains as it is a proper meal in itself.
All items fresh and made on site for example their spring rolls are amazing not your typical fried Chinese rolls.
I really liked the food and service was great. It's expensive for Chinese food though so I would not return as often as I like.
Great Malay Duck Curry. Great gyoza & Malay Duck Curry. Staff very efficient. Parking on the street after 5pm free so don't park in underground parking.
Love this place. Duck noodles are a favourite!
We went as a party of five for lunch today (Saturday) and the food and service was impeccable. The lychee champagne cocktail is a winner! We started with the pork and chives gyozas, the spicy sichuan gyozas and the Taiwanese street style fried chicken and for the main we had the hot pot of tender braised beef shin potato and carrot and the fresh seasonal greens - all of which were very tasty. Cannot rave about this place enough, very friendly and attentive team! Will be going back for more.
Great good and amazing cocktails! Service has been good every time we've eaten here.
Tasty. Went here with friends recently and we shared the gyoza, duck and eggplant curry, and black pepper rump steak with baby corn and sugar snap - everything was delicious and the atmosphere and service were great. Not sure what other reviewers are talking about with parking, the first two hours at Gasworks are free and then if you stay up to two and a half hours it costs $10. I would come here again!
Great service - well staffed and attentive. Delicious food especially the mud crab noodles. Definite revisit.
Dinner there last night with friends for CNY.
Great wine list, fresh and light traditional chinese share plates. Notable few - ginger and shallots steamed muddy on fresh egg noodles. Muddies were so fresh. Beef shin with potatoes and carrots...traditional and delicious. The salt and pepper tofu is light, non greasy and tasty. Pork hock that has been braised for days, plenty of melt in the mouth meat and great to share.
Will be back...so much more to try.
Wonderful fresh tasty Chinese and a little quieter than the other Gasworks restaurants. Definitely worth a visit!
Nice Lunch. Went there today first time it is was vey good.
Shared Gyozas and then pork with crackling salad and the prawn & scallop with chilli. A couple of large beers and a sparkling wine for $70, I thought it was quite reasonable.
I would definitely go back.
Great food, stunning decor. The food here is very good. I particularly like the gyozas, duck dishes and the pork hock. They also have live mud crab. I've been more than once! Great selection of beers and cocktails - it is as much a bar with food as it is a restaurant, there are separate dining areas. The wine list is pretty good too and you can get carafes of tap wine which are great value. I recommend it.
Very good food and great service (ie young waiter from Germany with a good sense of humour and attentive service). Particularly good was the minced pork with eggplant. Good selection of beers and wine and pleasant setting. Good value for our group of 8. Will definitely go again!
Haven't seen any fancy and modern chinese restaurant in brissy. good food and great selected wine there. I think I will definitely visit again very soon.
Some of the best pork gyoza I have ever had. Note due to red lanterns above the table all my photos now have a red tint.
The last of the mains that I tried was the incredible and exclusive Peng You slow-cooked pork trotter. I'm not sure why they call it exclusive, but I can only assume its because the trotter was from the worlds largest pig, it was massive! There was some more theatre with this dish, the wait staff paraded the trotter from table to table before going away and carving it up and then dishing out the pieces of delectable and wonderfully cooked pork flesh.
We were here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon, and the dining experience turned out amazing. The lady owner was prompt to serve us and poured water once we sat down. We ordered the lunch special and main, came fast without a long wait. The food was authentic and not overly salty with the perfect balance. Lady owner was keen on feedback as well and super friendly. Highly recommended.
The food is nice. We were served a wrong dish but was quickly rectified. We had 4 dish between the 3 of us and it was just right. The helping is not huge. If you are a big eater, might consider at least a dish and a half per person. However, after saying that, the meal was good. It is quite an intimate environment with low lightings and decorated with chinese lanterns. Parking is easy as you can park at the basement for 2 hours free.
For big groups (for eg 12 people) they don't have round table with the lazy Susan table centre which makes it a bit difficult to be sharing dishes. Fried rice is bland imo. The fried eggplant is the star of the night.
Hands down the best restaurant in gaswork, full of flavours and fragrants. Satay chicken and taiwanese fried chicken are super yummy. No idea why this place is not more busy? Maybe bad fung shu or decor? Good and high end Chinese/Cantonese food. Reasonable price for the yummy food.
Brilliant food, great wine and fantastic atmosphere. Friendly, attentive staff and delicious food! The best that Newstead has to offer! Definitely recommend trying the Duck!
This place really surprised me. The food that was served was so fresh and tasty! The spring rolls were home made and too die for. Crispy duck was amazing and noodles. What's interesting is if you walk all the way to the back there is another area which has beautiful 40s wall decor of Chinese woman from the war. Stunning. Service was excellent and we were served by the owner. This place overlooks the Gasometer and is really pretty at night. Inside or out is wonderful experience. They have a full bar as well if you just want a drink. A recommendation would be walk past the kitchen to see the other hidden areas.
