Review Communal Bar And Eat House - Brisbane

Came here multiple times. Daily special deals are really good here. 250g rump steak for $10 on every Sunday & Monday! And they have so many different deals as well. What I found is that the quality differs day by day but overall, it is not too bad. Today the staffs were really kind and very willing to help the customers out that I was fully satisfied. If the quality gets more consistent, I would give 5 stars.

Nice and quiet place to dine at the moment although I’m pretty sure it was bustling before the lockdown started. They have daily specials which are reasonably priced. The normal priced menu items are not cheap though. Friendly service but average food.

Reasonably priced daily specials. No frills service at the counter. Had the ribs special and steak special on different days. Reasonably good - ribs were better than the steak. Good for a cheap eat out Update 06/08/2019 - Took off two stars because we went on a business lunch on Monday (party of 8 at 12.30pm) and the food took 1 hr to arrive. The worst part was half of us ordered salads which should have been relatively fast and simple to prepare but it took the same amount of time as the chicken parmis and steaks. The food was alright but average, recommend just sticking with their specials and going when there are much fewer people. We appreciate the wait staff offering us free drinks but we just had meetings and work to get back so nobody took them up.

Food were really great. I went there twice and liked all the food I had. I recommend burger and pizza than the steak. there are many people so the service is a bit slow. outdoor atmosphere is really great, but sometimes they have special events like language exchange and salsa night.. language exchange(Friday) salsa night(Saturday) maybe they have more. there were too many people on Friday and too loud music on Saturday.

Nice environment to come and have a reasonable feed. There’s food special every night which is pretty cool, all of them are decent value. Food is reasonably priced to super cheap and actually taste better than some of the expensive places in the city which is fantastic. Environment is a quite nice is quite open and spacious with plenty of city for small and large groups. Service isn’t fussy and staff are quite friendly. Overall all it’s a great place to go with friends and get a feed. There’s plenty of offer and a great environment to be enjoyed.

Located around the open area in from Clock towers this place offers wide variety of food, drinks and appetizers. Note : They do have everyday deals and combo offers. I tried my hands on their Pizza and the Grilled Fish. 🍕Pollo Pizza 🍕 Fresh dough flavor of the base and the touch of Barbeque sauce along with chicken chuks and red onions looked incomplete but on that that was amazing. These is a slight sweet taste due to the Barbeque sauce. This could be easily shared between 2. 🍽️Grilled Fish Finely grilled with skin on the fish in a lemon based sauce. This is served along with saluted veggies like beans, carrot and tomatoes. Yes they do have boiled potatoes to this dish to Complete the carbs content. Overall this place takes a 4.5 * for the food and service. Will I Visit Again ➡️ Yes

Came here with friends for the $10 steak dinner (Sundays and Mondays). Tasted great! Came with small chips and salad. Not a big meal, but worth the price. Beer was kind of expensive ($11). Waited a long time for the food, but it was busy around that time. Lots of seating outdoors. Friendly staff too. Can’t comment on the other meals available, but seemed a bit pricey.

3.5+ stars bar & restaurant. More stars as value for money as they have a discounted set meal on certain days of the week - got steak with salad and fries for just $10! Better than average tasting food. Reasonable wait times. Order and pay at counter, then get a queue number and waiter will serve your food later. Bar is separate from food and paid separately. Has huge outdoor seating and smaller indoor seating. Ambience is fine. This is about the only eatery open at night at Brisbane Square.

Read a recent promo deal of this restaurant that reminded my dining experience here a couple of months ago.<br/>Took the deal of EatClub promotion to have a dinner here. Service was very friendly but it was not that busy due to early 6:00pm during weekday. My gaze browsed around and noticed that it provides a big venue for diners including indoor and al fresco area.<br/>We placed an order of spring rolls and two steak - Wagyu rump and fillet steak. First of all, the spring rolls are all tasteful and crispy. It deserves a big tick. However, the big surprise was on both steak. They were perfectly done in med- rare with plenty of sides and chips. Importantly, the quality of both proteins is at the top of the range as you compare the price that they charge is around $28.00. Not to say it is half price deal, even it is full price, the CP is just speechless.<br/>Highly recommended.<br/>👍👍👍

Used to have $10 steak, fries and salad every monday here with friends. Always tastes nice and very filling. The rice has gone up but still great value. Lovely customer service.

The battered flathead with salad and tartare sauce was delicious:) the ambience was great and if you enjoy loud cool music then you will totally enjoy it:). They serve a generous amount of food worth the money you spent on it.

Been here for two times, always on Sunday afternoon. <br/><br/>They have daily specials, the one for Sunday is Steak, Chips, and Salad for $10. Ordered the Sunday special, and the steak was great. Some inconsistency was detected, as my friend got a rare steak when she asked for a medium rare. The meat was not easily cut (obviously, it is a $10 steak. can't really asking for a premium meat with the price). The portion itself is adequate, as the steak comes with thick fried fries, salad, and a sauce. The sauce was a bit too salty in my opinion.  <br/><br/>The service was moderate. It can be because I came here with 10 of my friends ordering the same steak. Place your order at the cashier, and they will give you a buzzing pad when your food is ready. No table service is provided, you must pick up your own food at the cashier.<br/><br/>Overall, the experience was okay. The food is not too bad, considering the cheap price and the portion given. Will come back here to check out other specials.
Meatballs And Beef Cheeks
The Meatballs Family was in need of a quick lunch following a trip to the library at Brisbane Square.<br/><br/>Mini Meatball wanted pizza, so we decided to give Communal Bar & Eat House a go. To our pleasant surprise, they were offering a special where you buy a beverage and the pizza is only $10.<br/><br/>Thus, we ordered a couple Lemonades and a Coke with a Margherita Pizza. The pizza was better than we expected - nice thin crust, a slightly spicy (peppery) tomato sauce, generous cheese and tons of fresh basil. Overall, the pizza was above average and rated 3.5. At $10 this was a great deal. <br/><br/>Check out their daily specials. We'll be back.

Suitable for mad business lunches, pre-footy feeds, and getting on the lash with your party peeps. I've had most of the burgers and they pretty much all go hard, except for the pulled pork one – too juicy for the brioche. The pizzas are buff, the wings are better. My dad had actually never had wings until we came here – can you believe that?! One bite with a little blue cheese sauce and his whole friggin' world tipped off its axis. I hope I still get surprised by food when I'm 70.

There really is no better way to spend an evening than with good company, good wine, and good pizza. This was exactly what was needed post-work on Friday and Communal Bar & Eat House was the destination for two starving foodies. <br/><br/>Situated in Brisbane Square opposite the Treasury Casino, Communal is bright and welcoming. Patrons have the choice of dining indoors with a view of the woodfire pizza oven, or in the al fresco bar area overlooking the square. It's counter service only here and there were smiles all round from the staff on Friday.<br/><br/>My companion and I set ourselves up in the outdoor area with a glass of prosecco and a glass of Pinot Gris, and examined the menu for all of 10 seconds before deciding on The Communal pizza ($24). This arrived in record time and smelled delicious when it arrived. <br/><br/>The base was perfect, thin and crispy and cooked well. The sauce was beautifully rich in tomato flavour and topped with fresh mushrooms, olives, roasted capsicum, a decent amount of ham, and a good quantity of cheese. Overall, our pizza was tasty and just what was needed. The serving was definitely generous and we were able to halve this quite comfortably.<br/><br/>My friend and I have been here a few times now and, while it's not the best pizza joint in Brisbane, we still enjoy the atmosphere. Being able to look out over to the brightly coloured casino and Southbank, and the open aired setting is very relaxing. The food is tasty, the service is friendly, and the venue itself is bright and welcoming. We'll keep coming back for our wine and pizza dates.

Popped in to try the steak deal (on Sundays and Mondays) and have also come here a couple times for beer/ wine and sharing plates.<br/><br/>The steak deal is great and it tastes really good, and a good portion size! I think that this is the only steak deal in the CBD that doesn't have hidden costs.<br/><br/>I've tried the salt and pepper squid before, they're delicious!!!

Popped in for dinner after browsing the malls.  The venue has a decent setup, with a casual, modern vibe.  The food is pretty decent and drink range is okay.  I's recommend popping in for a lazy afternoon drink and nibbles if in the city.

I've walked past this place a number of times & always wondered what an experience here would be like. I finally went on a Friday night and although they had lovely service, the food wasn't too amazing, especially for the price. <br/><br/>I ordered the Oysters Kilpatrick which was very spicy, almost too spicy to enjoy, and quite a lot of rind/fat in the bacon. My boyfriend ordered the cheeseburger & said it was nothing special.<br/><br/>Drink wise I ordered a Pinot Gris but sadly it tasted a bit old, like it had gone off. In fact it was pretty awful. <br/><br/>They had the music pumping as it was a Friday night which fortunately wasn't too bad in the inside area.<br/><br/>Overall, the staff were lovely though not enough to warrant another visit here.

Often find myself peering into Communal as I browse the markets at the weekends. I assumed it was a great place for steaks, however I noticed it's not all about the steak, they also have lots of other options. Loved the fish tacos & they do a decent coffee.

Worst pizza ever. I would rather have dominos. Went there after a show and paid 22 dollars for 5 pieces of salami and some dough. <br/><br/>Try harder I say!! This is why your empty. The food is nasty

Sunday's and Monday's these guys do a massive dealio on 200g rump steaks! $10 with fries and salad (we omitted the salad for extra fries). Steak is better than what you think $10 will get you! Communal is also great for big group lunches for work. We've tried their pizzas as well and they are deeeeelicious.

The first time I came here my friend recommended the pulled lamb shoulder burger and now I order nothing else. One of the best burgers in Brisbane. Highly recommended.
Amy
The Communal pulled lamb burger is the best burger I have ever had which is a very bold statement but it never lets me down. It is pretty rich but the soft fresh bun and sauces they use on the lamb are delicious! Also communal knows how to do chips very well. Love coming here!

I've had an awesome steak here once before and just recently had the chicken karaage burger - it wasn't 'as promised' by the menu (no wasabi mayo or pickled anything) but still a tasty burger. It's like an inner city sports club, done well - you can buy pots of light and the menu reads like a trendier version of something you'd find in the suburbs. Good value for serving sizes and comparing to other places in the area.

The service was friendly, had steak sandwich, Chips was yum! Steak was cook perfectly, panini was yum, sandwich was easy and handy, very enjoy it. Also hv majito for drink, didn't hv much lime test, everything is good

Bar excelente para tomar algo después del trabajo!!!<br/>Ubicado en el centro de la ciudad!!!! Lo recomiendo!! Dj en vivo!!!! <br/>Comida rica! Pero nada especial pero la onda es muy buena!!!

Decided not to eat here after being served a glass of draught Bulmers cider that was flat and, when I asked for it to be changed, the barman poured it into another glass and handed it back to me. When I challenged him he told me that the bar manager had told him to do that as that is how draught cider is served! Well! Shocked indeed! I've been drinking draught cider wrongly for 45 years!! Oh well, standing corrected I took my wife and appetite to the Pig and Whistle where the steak was very good and the cider had bubbles in it, wrongly or rightly....

Food was nice, decor and location are excellent. However one hour wait time for five ppl who all ordered a steak special is inexcusable. Getting attitude from the management when asking how long are meals going to be seals the rating.

This place has nice, modern interiors. The food was okay - I ordered a 400g steak medium rare but it came out more medium well and was a little stringy. The service and staff were friendly though.

We were having some after work drinks and bar snacks. Food and service was fine up until a staff member came over with some reserved signs and kicked us off the table. She said 'this table is reserved so you're going to have to move' she put the reserved sign on the table and put down menus for the next people. I pointed out that no one had told us about a reservation and she'd obviously just realised there weren't enough tables. She said that wasn't true but didn't know what to say when i asked where we should move to. Incredibly rude and unapologetic. The stars I've given are purely for the fact that the food was fine.
Guy Picone
Ordered the 400g rump steak. Cooked just as I wanted (rare) but steak itself ordinary. Sinewy and tough-have had better quality from Woolworths. Staff friendly, service fine so just unfortunate quality of the cut of meat let them down.

$12 for a single coffee. I like strong coffee. So a triple shot long black from here..I have not experienced. <br/><br/>After waiting at the counter for some time and being served after someone who arrived after me with no acknowledgement, I asked for a triple shot long black.. I was then quoted $12. When I asked why so much, I was told it was like the equivalent of buying 3 coffees.<br/>"So if someone would just like an extra shot in their coffee...you charge them and extra $4..?"<br/><br/>"Yes."<br/><br/>"..."<br/><br/>"..."<br/><br/>"I'll be okay thanks"

Pathetic pizzas. Yucky, overly salty, bland toppings, burnt, soggy crust.. u name it this shop has got it! Even dominos 4.95 pizzas are better than their $23 pizzas. Fuckall pizzas. Period

Fantastic!!!. I would like to commend Communal Bar and Eathouse on one of the most enjoyable nights of my life. First off, the atmosphere was amazing. Although a touch confusing at first we were quickly seated and given the low down on where to order and so on. Because we had chosen Communal for its big share plates we already knew what we were having. We were going to get both of the share plates (Slow roasted lamb & Wood fired chicken) but unfortunately they did not have the chicken, which actually did not matter. We ordered the lamb with a side of chips (which were superb!) Thinking that that will be enough for our table of five to have smaller servings and some dessert afterwards. This was not the case. The lamb came out with the chopped salad on the side and all the other extras came on the plate and it was HUGE! There was just so much food! It was amazing. As the birthday girl, I got the first share of food. The lamb just fell apart and the potato was just so delicious! The bread rolls were warm and soft, just what you would want with roast lamb. The buttered greens were perfecrly cooked with just enough crunch. And last but not least, the gravy, it was mouth watering. Juicy and smooth and absorbed into evedything to five that extra umph of flavour, just delicious. There was enough to feed all five of us, and we were clutching at our stomachs at the end. We had enough for another person as well, we had to take it home (which I am not complaining about, its my lunch). All of this was for $79, bargain! All of us were stuffed to the brim and happy as can be. After dinner we tried our hand at salsa dancing in the square and then headed home. All in all a wonderful night with fantastic food! I highly recommend to all who are on the brink of deciding if they should venture out to this restaurant, definitely do it! :)<br/><br/><br/>-----14 Mar, 2015-----<br/><br/>Fantastic place for a little celebration!!!. Decent atmosphere, however, very expensive for what you get. Definitely suited to big groups of people with enough cash to throw around.<br/><br/>Pizza was apparently made by a real Italian person (doesn't always mean good pizza), and it was good, but strange and quite tasteless for a margarita.<br/><br/>My other little complaint is 'Eat House.' What kind of name is that?
Daniel Richards
Lovely food, great atmosphere and cheerful friendly staff. What else do you want.

Communal Bar and Eathouse- Five stars. Took grand children to Communal bar and eat house yesterday and was very impressed. Staff were very friendly and helpful, great atmosphere. Pizza was absolutely delicious, very authentic as well. Pizza chef was very passionate about his pizza! Can highly recommend Communal bar and eat house. We will certainly be returning!!
The Food Extinguisher
The once daggy little food court at Brisbane Square is gone - and magically replaced by a wonderful food paradise. This culinary utopia features four eateries, the biggest being Communal Bar & Eat House. With a massive cocktail bar, open kitchen (which comes with a wood fire oven to make authentic wood-fire pizzas) and artistic yet rustic décor, I was instantly mesmerised. The modern and artistic indoor space makes Communal a fantastic place to catch up.
Espresso&Matcha
The atmosphere is relaxed, and the decor is rustic but casual.  I was quite impressed about being provided with water without having to ask for it. Service was friendly and the waiters' smiles were very warm and genuine. Whist I would have loved to try the wood fired pizza, I was skeptical of the cooking time it would take, especially given my tight lunch hour. Conservatively, I ordered a wagyu burger. I found the bun to be toasted but soft on the inside, and I particularly love how the back was cooked until crunchy without being overly burnt. While my preference is with the purple spanish onions which is the norm for most burgers, Communal used caramelised onions instead, which was quite a refreshing change. The patty was nicely cooked, though it was small in size compared to the bun, but quite thick.  For a place which is not a burger chain, I found this to be one of the better burgers that I've had. My first associate ordered the Barvarian Dog, which was served with potato salad. While the hotdog was good, (Bread was soft, sausage was done nicely), the potato salad was definitely the highlight for us. It was served cold, which was very refreshing on a hot summer day, and the dressing was very creamy, and worked to emphasise the flavours of the herbs. Our remaining companion got the battered whiting and chips. I found the serving to be quite generous, with three pieces of whiting, and an ample amount of chips and salad. At first bite, we found the whiting to be quite fi

There's a new kid in town and it's time you've met!  A few weeks ago a trendy, new gastro pub opened it's doors in Brisvegas.  Communal Bar & Eat House now calls Brisbane Square ( aka Redacliffe Place ) home. Brisbane Square is shaping up to be quite the dining precinct! The square is already home to Cafe Brisbane, Chow Down, and Meat & Eat. This doesn't come as much of a shock to us...the square is prime relestate! Mesmerizing views of the Brisbane River with the elegant, heritage listed Treasury Casino as a backdrop... what's not to love. Communal Bar and Eat House features 24 beers on tap, and 4 wines on tap. After work drinks anyone  The star of the show would definitely be 'Big Bird'. No, we're not talking about the over sized yellow bird from Sesame Street. Big Bird is a massive, yellow tiled Italian wood fired pizza oven- way better right?! As soon as we walked in it was love at first sight...like something straight out of a romance novel.   If loving Big Bird is wrong we don't want to be right... Magical wood fired pizza-deliciousness is not all Communal has to offer... You will also find fresh seafood, salads, steaks, and burgers on the menu.  As the  name hints, Communal is all about a shared dining experience. So, gather around one of their long share tables with a group of your closest mates, order up a refreshing cocktail jug, and tuck into one of their mouthwatering share platters. Next time you find yourself wandering around Brisbane Square with a rumbling tummy- Get Communal! Today we tried Communal Bar & Eat House I was instantly drawn to the action – a vast cocktail bar & open kitchen (with a wood fire oven!) As the name suggests, Communal Bar & Eat House aims to promote collective noshing with its semi alfresco communal tables, creating a casual, social space! There are also high tables which seats two to three, and an artistic indoor dining area for those who are after a more intimate experience. A bit of Broadway magic! Love these cabaret-style signage Rustic cutlery holders with a tap-like handle! Et voilà, the food! The eating house specialises in burgers, share plates & wood-fired pizzas: Casalinga fior di latte (mozzarella), san marzano sauce, prosciutto, porcini mushroom, olives These. Fat. Succulent. Scallops. Are. Just. Too. Divine. Paired with a caesar salad with anchovies, young cos, maple bacon, parmesan, ciabatta croutons & poached egg

It’s taken the concept of shared plates and flipped it on its head. Rather than ordering many small plates to share, the idea here is to order the large platters and divide them. For those not wanting to tuck into a giant meal, an enormous woodfired oven turns out pizzas.
Dolce Bunnie
We ventured to the top of the mall one day and were surprised to find that Communal Bar and Eat House was open. It was a grilling hot day and not many people were out so I picked a table along the wall while the other travel bunnie placed our lunch order at the front.  Having seen the yellow-tiled Italian wood fired pizza oven proudly positioned at the front of the restaurant, I thought I’d be silly not to order a pizza. Their pizzas are 32 centimetres and all boast true Italian fare. I decided on the casalinga ($24) which is topped with fior di latte mozzarella, san marzano sauce, prosciutto, porcini mushroom and olives. I watched the chef making my pizza from the scratch as my mouth watered. Bring it to me, I thought and it was good!
