One of the loveliest High Teas I have experienced in Australia. It was a work event for about 80 guests which I can wholeheartedly say ran very smoothly. The food was very good, especially the sweets and the staff were excellent: attentive, friendly and on the ball. #stamfordplazahotel
Went for the buffet high tea and was quite impressed. Such an extensive variety of desserts as well as some savoury items. Atmosphere and presentation was beautiful. A few small things like the mini donuts were very dry, there was gritty undissolved sugar in the citrus tart and the gluten free cupcake was dry and not a flattering texture. Overall an enjoyable experience, would go again
I attended a wedding here which was something a bit different as it was afternoon tea post the church. A tad odd for a reception choice but actually very delicious and definitely a budget saving option. A little strange to be all finished up with the celebrations before it even got dark but I had a wow of a time given I'm a high tea connoisseur and generally attend one monthly.
The ambiance was pleasant and as you would except of an established chain hotel. There was a multitude of sweet treats on display and I am happy to report they tasted just as good as they looked (which is disappointingly actually rarely the case at a dessert buffet). Nice riverside location with pretty views too
I came here for a late Mother's Day high tea and had a great experience! We had the chocolate high tea and the choice is amazing. From a gluten free station, chocolate fondue station, sandwiches and delectable cakes and sweets there was a multitude of choice. The food was great quality and we enjoyed the ambiance and service of the Stamford Plaza. Only slight let down was that there wasn't a glass of champagne included in the $50 buffet price but wasn't a huge deal as everything was delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!
Came here for a birthday lunch and was quite classy for a buffet. The highlight for me was the oysters, you hardly find buffets in Brisbane where you can still taste the freshness - found a gold mine. The other selection of seafood was also quite good as well as the available hot foods. Sadly there was not too much for dessert but what was available at the time was fantastic, just wished there were just as many options for dessert as there was for the mains. All in all was a very pleasant visit :)
Beautiful views, on a cold afternoon, seated very comfortably outdoors in a comfortably heated environment. We were a group of 8 having the Christmas in July special buffet. For $59 per person, its considerably good. Fresh prawns, oysters, bay bugs and crabs. The oysters were noticeably fresh. The mains were blanched veggies, roast root veggies, ham, turkey ( rather salty turkey ), massaman curry and bread rolls. There was a spiced carrot soup to warm the body.
Dessert was a christmas affair. Plum pudding, pear something or rather, eggnog, brandy custard and a selection of the usual christmas lunch suspects. If sweets aren't your thing, theres cheese to nibble on. Looks like a blue variety and a hard cheese with crackers.
one person on the table was gluten intolerant. and boy he got his fair share of desserts! the guys from the kitchen dished up what looked like 10 kinds of sweets and delivered it straight to the table!
Was it excellent value? average
was it excellent food? average, but the oysters were fresh as fresh gets
But what made it really good was the company and everything went to plan. More often than not, we have such high expectations of the food and service and forget the company part of the equation.
I may not go there again, but i would recommend it for anyone with a largish group and would like to cater for everyone's tastes.
Indulge yourself with this decadent chocolate high tea! With amazing views overlooking Brisbane river, this high tea is the finest in Brisbane. A great way to celebrate a special occasion!
Such a fantastic place for lunch, oysters and prawns were good!!! The hot food was even better and definitely didn't disappoint. Dessert was also great, there was a few choices to choose from!! Brownies were to die for
Look, I'm a stickler for good surroundings and good seafood and for a top notch Sunday afternoon by the Brisbane River, the Brasserie on the River at the Stamford Plaza was kicking both these goals better than Bernard Foley on the buzzer. Firstly, the terrace surroundings and brilliant service (including 5* photography of our group from the staff) set the scene for some fantastic fresh seafood, great hot food and salad bar options and a desert spread that is making typing this review more exercise than I'll be able to do for days. Top notch views, fresh lobster and some cold beer makes for a brilliant night out at the Brasserie. Well done!
had a pre Christmas lunch here with friends on the weekend - wonderful food and service, the most compressive vegetarian selection I've found in years! well done Stamford Hotel.
Went here today for the high tea and enjoyed it. Service and food were very good and their rose and vanilla tea was amazing.
Good without being 5 star
A nice place to meet with family for Bfst. The breakfast buffet consists of all the regular dish's expected. Nothing stood out really however the patio dining area looking over the Brisbane River is a nice relaxing place to have a leisurely breakfast.
I went here for 'Chocolate High Tea' on a Sunday afternoon. It was a buffet set-up so you can help yourself to whatever you want.
There was a good selection of different things, including delicious sandwiches, plenty of sweet desserts and fruit.
The chicken and rocket sandwiches were lovely as were the ham and cheese ones. There was also some savoury tartlets (salmon I think) and some savoury items. There is of course, mainly cakes and little sweet treats... cupcakes, slices, macaroons, chocolate mousse, choc-dipped strawberries, toffee profiteroles, panna cotta shots, biscuits, chocolate squares, cheesecakes, mud cake and more.
While there was so much variety and endless options, I felt like it was quantity over quality and nothing individually tasted that great. The opera slice was the nicest thing I tried. The macaroons were quite hard and sugary, the chocolate mousse wasn't rich and the cupcakes just didn't taste soft and moist. Everything tasted OK but not spectacular like I would hope for at a high tea.
There was quite a large selection of teas available too, even though I stuck with coffee.
The setting is lovely - we sat outside with a beautiful view of the river. The service was also good.
Having a sweet tooth, one of my favourite British traditions is high tea. The Stamford Plaza is my pick for Brisbane's finest high tea indulgence. It is a typical way that I like to spend a 'low key' afternoon on the weekend: in luxury and with plenty of cake to eat.
Anyone for gluten-free high tea? It's Saturday afternoon and I'm off to a Hen's afternoon high tea party at the Stamford Plaza - one of Brisbane's premiere establishments. Elegant decor, a perfectly set table and string quartet awaits us.

So it was time to meet our mate's new girlfriend - and what better way than over Brunch at one of Brisbane's nicest Hotels? While Bill and Bec are no longer an item, the Brasserie on the River has firmly placed itself on our favourites list for Brunch so
