Delicious meal - the momos and kofta were delicious, as was the Sherpa chicken and chilli chicken. All point. Super keen to work through a bit more of the menu.
We love this resturant. Great food and excellent prices. My favourites are the sherpa chicken and goat curry. The other good thing about Kathmandu Newa is the parking. They have their own small parking area out the back and we always get a park.
We have eaten here about ten times and it has always been good. Sitting out the back is very nice as it has a view towards the city.

Thanks Foodora for tonight's lazy meal in!!! I have been meaning to try this place out for ages! My picks tonight were Goru Ko Masu Beef Curry and Sherpa Chicken Curry is that was zipped over to us via a scooter on this damp Brisbane evening. Of course the papadums were also a must and they were fresh and crispy! My fave was the chicken, I have a soft spot for coriander but both dishes were flavoursome with a little kick of spice! Foodora service was quick and easy, highly recommend it! Thanks Kathmandu for a lovely takeaway meal!!!
Was my first time having Nepalese and I loved it. The restaurant is set up with floor sitting in individual "rooms" for the larger tables, and it was great to eat and relax in our own area. Food was great, not huge servings however.
Our friends chose the venue. We chose the low tables with cosy floor cushions in a well decorated nook. Everything we ate was delicious . We scraped our plates clean.
I don't tip and I rarely write reviews - but couldn't help myself tonight on both counts.
Excellent service. Intimate atmosphere. Extraordinary flavours.
really special, delicious place. goat curry is amazing and also the fish one. nice place for groups if you reserve. and delicious mango lassi.
Sherpa Chicken, Mountain Lamb, Spring Rolls, Himalayan Bread. Amazing food they have captured the true essence of Nepalese cooking, fresh ingredients with the taste of spices that do not overpower. The food is prepared fresh so enjoy the time between courses to chat or indulge in a wine. The service is 100%.
Meat Platter. Nepalese Famous Traditional meal
7/10. I love this venue and the food is really good, my only complaint would be the slow service. Don't come here on a busy night because you'll be waiting a while. My friend and I went on a Monday night and there was only one other table of people but we still ended up waiting longer than average for our food.
Nice nepali khaja set and mountain lamb as well the hospitality
Great friendly service, relaxed atmosphere and nice food.
This restaurant is a delight! The decor is traditional inside (no chairs and low table) and theres the option to sit at tables with chairs. The food was amazing, we cant wait to go back.
Food was really good and friendly environment .
Awesome food, awesome service. Perfect price. Will come back again.
Nice ambience, fresh and tasty food, friendly service. We arrived at 4 PM (Sunday) and they were happy to serve us. I loved it!
Peaceful, great food. I love going to this place, beautiful decor and lovely staff. Food is delicious - although not spicy enough for my liking but they can bring you extra chilli. The atmosphere is calming and you can sit on the floor at some tables which I really like. Don't forget to visit spiros at Paddington central to get a bottle of wine beforehand. Only paid about $50 for a dinner for two (two mains and two entrees with rice) great value. Definitely going back again and again.
Foods are really amazing and best here .
Great ambience, great food. Loved the pillow cushions we sat down on to eat. Perfect place to take a date. If your partner is anything like mine (read: female) there'll be lots of "ooh this is cute," "I love the ceiling hangings" etc.
Alternatively, if you're a hipster you'll love this place too; what with the encouragement to go sans shoes, vintage decor, totally indie Middle Eastern tunes coming out of a beaten up cassette player, and the fact all the food's gluten free. Oh, and it's nestled amongst the raft of Latrobe Terrace op shops and hip cafes too.
Very quick and friendly service. Highlights were the Dahl soup starter, goat curry main, and creme brûlée dessert. Traditional Nepalese Chea tea was delish too.
The modest serving sizes was a small (ha!) gripe on my part; it's not somewhere you'd take teenage boys to get their glutton on (stick to Sizzler). However, the other side of that coin is there are no teenage boys in this restaurant. Ever. Probably. Which has got to be a good thing.
Amazing menus with a wide range of food groups from vegan to goat.
The lime & chilli chutney starters with the breads was AMAZING!! Must have.
The meals are definitely filling and packed full of flavour.
Cosy & delicious. Homely setting, cosy & warm. The food are very delicious with reasonable price.
Dinner was a nice experience. We had samosas for an entree and they were mouthwatering. For the mains we had the goat curry and the mountain lamb. They were both tasty but the meat did have a few gristly bits. Then for dessert we had the cream brûlée and sticky date pudding and they were both lovely. The sweet tea was also very nice. Will go back again very soon!
80% on our score Excellent atmosphere, decor, meet n greet. Excellent with full explanation of extensive menu. Menu printed on hand crafted paper was different. We had the mountain lamb and nepalese chile chicken. Both were awesome and serve was just right. Great value for money and definitely will return. Sat 21/4/2012
Good restaurant. This is a great restaurant for anyone looking for a cute place for a date, or just a great place for dinner with friends. The dining setting is really nice and the multiple rooms give it a nice, intimate feel. The food is good too, as good as any good nepalese restaurant, and won't dissappoint. Recommended :)
Lovely feel to this place and very attentive service . Sat in the cushion room which was pretty although be sure to take your shoes off first ! Very yummy kofta balls and extensive vego menu. Great prices too, will be back!
3x in a week. Can't get enough if the momos and delectable sesame sauce. Homemade chili also to die for. Can't beat this in brissy
Great restaurant atmosphere and food. My husband and I went to this restaurant for his birthday and we had a great time. We turned up without a booking and they managed to squeeze us in and found that the waiter and all the staff were extremely attentive and friendly.
I've read a number of the previous reviews on this restaurant and didn't have any of the problems anyone else had. The food came quickly, it tasted great, the service was great.
My only negative comment would be it was a chilly night and the door was open and we were near the door but I had a jacket so that was fine.
We're pretty well travelled but this was the first time we have had Nepalese cuisine and it was delicious.
The prices were very reasonable especially for Paddington and I like the fact that the restaurant supports local charities back in Nepal and you can see what they have been doing on the restaurant walls.
We'll definitely return to this restaurant.
The mains were all delicious in their own way, however some were lacking in flavour and spice.
Ever found yourself sitting at home, wanting to go out for dinner to somewhere new, to eat something different? That's exactly where we found ourselves before heading out to dinner at Kathmandu Newa Chhe'n at Paddington. I knew there was a Nepalese restau
