Pizza is excellent 10/10. Sat outside in the lane way, service was great. Food was fast to table from order and the flavors were excellent. Base crisp, toppings fresh, cold beer. Dessert pizza topped off the night. Give this place a try, you will not regret.
Busy restaurant, with friendly staff and really awesome pizzas with fresh toppings. The place fills up fast on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, so I recommend coming during the week when it's less busy. Otherwise, make sure to book a table.
We had the carbonara and the duck pizzas and both were aaaaamazing! Hubby also tried the lasagna which he said was good but not quite heated through, but when we brought that to staffs attention they apologised, fixed it up and gave us some free drinks so we were really happy with that. No complaints, will definitely be back!

I had girls night here a couple of nights ago and had the best time. Wine and dips followed by 4 types of pizza, red duck pizza, the big chicken pizza, morrocan beef and the zucca pizza. I still can’t decide which one was my favourite, I loved them all. And to top it off specialty made gelato. YUM. They have a very relaxed vibe and the Italian hostess/waitress was so helpful.
Will definitely be coming back again soon. Plus I can bring my vegan friends too.
Best authentic Italian in Brisbane. Woodfired pizzas melt in your mouth. They source the freshest mozzarella you can get in Australia. Their advice on where to eat in Rome is spot on. Thanks for the yummy food and travel tips.

Il Forno Pizzeria in Sandgate serves up the best pizza north of the Brisbane River!
Under new management, chef/owner Bryan Lennox and his wife Savonne have breathed new life into this lovely pizzeria. They've revamped the menu and lowered prices, while retaining (and possibly improving on) the wonderful quality and taste that has been the hallmark of Il Forno for years.
We began our evening with the Pecorino Pizza Bread, which was so simple, yet so delicious. They begin with the chef's own dough recipe (all their dough is made with imported Italian flour) and roll out a pizza base with high sides. Next, they add several large ice cubes to the dough and bake it in a wood fired oven. The ice melts, leaving a well of water, to which the chef adds generous handfuls of pecorino cheese and seasons with salt and pepper. The water, cheese, salt and pepper combine to deliver a sharp, rich flavor. The end result is absolutely fantastic and rates 4.5 out of 5.
Next came the Spinachi e' Ricotta (Spinach & Ricotta) Pizza, a beautiful blend of tomato, spinach, parmesan, mozzarella, ricotta, roasted garlic, fresh cherry tomatoes and olive oil atop a thin and delicious dough. The pizza was heavy with toppings and there was so much cheese that I was in seventh heaven! The flavors and textures were perfect and I quickly declared this the best pizza I've eaten in many, many months. I could find no fault with this pizza (except perhaps that it was gone too soon), which rates 5 out of 5.
We rounded out our main meal with a Caprese Salad (3.5/5) and a Margherita Pizza (4/5). Both dishes utilized tomatoes, fior di latte mozzarella and fresh basil, and were quite enjoyable.
Lastly, we enjoyed the chef's recommendation of Panna Cotta and were talked into an Warm Apple Crumble with Vanilla Gelato. The Panna Cotta was perfect...so smooth and rich...quite literally the best I've ever had and rated 5 out of 5. I'm generally not a fan of dessert pizzas, but the Apple Crumble was heavenly and rated 4.5 out of 5. I wouldn't hesitate to order both dishes again.
We were also quite impressed by the impressive beer selection, including more Italian imports than I've ever come across in Queensland. I enjoyed a Birra Moretti and a Birra Di Sardegna (where else do you find Sardinian Beer?) and noted that they stock five different varieties of Peroni. If you are a lover of Italian beer, this is where you need to be.

Best pizza around! Traditional wood-fired Italian pizzas, topped with fresh and tasty combinations of ingredients. We are regular customers here, and have never had a bad pizza! Staff are helpful and accommodating with dietary requirements.

The pizza is one of the best damn pizzas I've ever had. However, whoa the price! ... 24 dollars for a little pizza and because the base is so thin and light you really do feel robbed. Amazing if you've got the money.

Il Forno is hands down the best pizza I have ever had the pleasure of eating. The base is just the way I like it - thin and soft. Perfect amount of topping that beats the traditional Italian pizzas I ate in France! You can dine in or I recommend taking it away and walking down to enjoy on the Sandgate foreshore. Such a nice spot.

Salmon e Caperi Pizza. For the comment from Gourmet Traveller review. We have never used tinned salmon on our Salmon & Capers pizza. Tinned salmon is for potato and salmon cakes! Not for our freshly made pizza. Please get your ingredients facts straight before you comment. I really wonder how one can mistake 'tinned salmon' for the 'Tassal smoked salmon'?? Go figure....
I heard this place was good, but put off checking it out for a while as it didn't look like much from the outside. I was pleasantly surprised and will be back, for sure! Sandgate needs more gems like this. Quality fresh food with gluten free pizza options, and even the salads would be a delicious meal on their own. Do not go expecting “il cheapo”, and be warned there is a considerable extra charge for gluten free, but you get what you pay for and I for one am happy to support a local small business like this.
Never disappointing. We've been patrons at Il Forno for the last 3 years and the team there still haven't let us down.
For those looking for topping ladened pizza, slapped together roughly without a thought of how it will taste, this isn't the place isn't for you.
HOWEVER, if you love well put together flavours that result in a sensory delight, look no further.
A great choice of beer and a solid wine offering, topped off with bubbly, friendly staff who are incredibly accommodating, make this place a fast favourite.
A hot tip is to try the special.
Loving the way the morrocan beef is now served, big juicy chunks instead of minced. The Menabrea beer was fantastic! Service was excellent, good looking staff too! The waitress with the bright red lips, you are gorgeous. Ten out of ten.

A bit of the inner city. This trendy little pizza place reminds me of the ones in the inner city and West End, and is popular with younger people. Having tried both takeaway and sit down, I think the latter is much better, although the outdoor seats are a bit uncomfortable. Pizza is comparable with other similar places, not highly flavoured, which is how most Brisbane people seem to like it. It has a good buzz and is very popular.
Loved the duck pizza! Loved the beer selection! Was let down by the Mediterranean beef pizza. Felt as though the toppings were a little stingy for the price.
Our Monday regular. Thanks for another delicious pizza and dessert special. Tried tonight's eggplant and fontina pizza and the pain au chocolate and butter pudding with the anglais (maybe baileys? can't remember). Oh so good! I hope you'll be doing these again! Nice to have a vegetarian pizza after a weekend of bbqs! Crispy thin base with quality toppings you can taste...NOT piled high and dripping. So worth the $$ for flavour and health. Didn't see Marco the Italian owner there tonight but I guess he'd been working all weekend, would have been crazy busy with the fine weather. Feel lucky to have this as our local...looking forward to next week's special.
Delicious every time. We love going here, we almost want to fork out the cash and make it a fortnightly event! They have several vego options for me and gluten-free which is fantastic too. The Bacio is a lovely dessert treat (though I suggest you share between 2 people!) and I have never met a pizza at Il Forno that I didn't like. Their wine selection is also great...not to mention the service! Always friendly and smiley. I will always recommend Il Forno and continue to visit - a lot!

Not sure what the guy below considers good pizza but this is the best pizzeria I have ever been too and I am from northern Italy! Marco and the staff are excellent and the ingredients used are the best around... Keep up the great work team il Forno.

Great to see a true woodfired thin crust pizza of such quality on the Northside of Brisbane. Excellent ratio of toppings compliments the crispness and lightness of the base. Staff were very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend giving this little pizzeria a try!

Seriously good pizza. It is absolutely fresh and delicious. The duck pizza wins over even the pizza skeptics. The staff are always friendly and its also a nice relaxed atmosphere. Definately not cheap, but good quality. Oh yes and the baci dessert pizza is a must try!!!

Amazing!. One of my new favourite places in Brisbane. Casual atmosphere, great service & staff. My partner and i decided that we could have eaten the base of the pizza on its own - it was that delicious. The salmon i had was melt-in-your-mouth fresh. They also have their own line of beer brewed, which is beautiful. The wine list also compliments the range of meals perfectly.
Awesome delicious Italian pizzeria! Pizza made in wood fired oven! We ordered Lanatra (crispy duck) and Carbonara. Pizzas is super hot, juicy and yummy. They also have very good selected wine and we picked rose which is perfect match with pizza. One of the best pizza in Brisbane!!
Very good pizza, not salty! Many pizzas in some other restaurants are salty because they put too much sauce. The pizzas here the flavor is just right. We ordered Moroccan Beef and Grande Pollo pizzas. They are delicious!
