Drove past this cafe so dropped in for a light brekkie. It was nearly four years since my last visit so I could not remember if it is the same management.
Honestly, the Veneziano coffee is really smooth and bold. Although the croissant texture is not as good as the French patisserie, its preparation does show the chef’s passion. If the lady owner can be more hospital with warm smiling to all the customers. A higher mark may be granted for this review.

Went here for weekend brunch with the partner.
We ordered coffees (the cappuccino was smooth with a generous chocolate topping), the pancake special ('Apple and Rhubarb Ricotta Hotcakes', which was hot, homely and not-too-sweet) and the 'Turkish Eggs' (generous, good amount of spice and heat, perfectly poached eggs).
Friendly and efficient service. Casul ambience with limited indoor and outdoor seating available. Reasonable prices.
Overall, an exceptional brunch experience with good food and great service.
It’s worth the walk from my office to the Samson & Sophie Cafe
LOVELY staff, GREAT Coffee and Food with a friendly and warm atmosphere - first class, the best in Macquarie Street. I tried the coffee shop a few doors down but found the staff there very rude and unprofessional, they could take some lessons from Samson & Sophie staff
Thanks Guys and Girls!
Finally got to try Samson and Sophie today. Had heard very good things from my friends and I have to agree this place is right up there with the best in Brisbane. What really sets it apart is the service. They do a great job of making it family friendly yet still modern and sophisticated. I was recommended the pulled pork and what a dish! Well seasoned without being over the top. Great crunch to the potato hash and not to mention so soo photogenic. Coffee was well made and cake was light yet indulgent. Will be going back to this little gem hats perfectly situated along the river and next time I’ll be bringing the doggo’s for a Pre-brunch stroll.
Love the service and the ambience. Lovely staff keen on serving delicious food. Right by the river walk which was a good brunch place after morning walk. Menu has good choice for gluten and lactose/vegan dietary needs. Good the use of wholesome food
Driven past S&S many times and finally dropped in for breakfast this morning. Cute little place and were quite busy on Thursday morning which is always a good sign. Had a wrap with Beetroot Relish, Haloumi, egg, spinach and was a great light option to start the day and the coffee was good. Will be back.
Staff are always super friendly, coffee is the best and there raw slice is heaven!! Once they forgot my avocado on my breakfast tacos but otherwise food is great 🥑😊
S&S is my favourite place for brunch. You can always guarantee delicious food, generous portions, fresh juices and tasty coffee. Everyone who works here is lovely and the service is always attentive, even on their busiest weekends. The cafe itself is cute and welcoming with its mismatched tables, chairs and stools, with plenty of blankets for the winter.
Our favourites are either the classic smashed avo with all their tasty additions, or the Buddha bowl (with extra salmon!), which is the perfect thing to start the day before a big shift.
Be back soon!
Food was delicious, great atmosphere. Very cute and service was wonderful. Prices are ... what you'd expect for good quality in New Farm. Nice work with Veneziano though, exceptional cafe. Would be happy to go back or recommend
Loved this place! Lovely staff and lovely food - all of my friends and I enjoyed what we had and the mocha was impressive as heck with cream and sprinkles - wish I'd gotten a photo. Will definitely come back to try more of the menu.
Very cute little cafe with some very tasty food. Ordered the pork belly something. Mmmm pork belly, crunchy, tender and very well seasoned. Standard breakfast taco but very tasty smoothie combinations. Great place to brunch!

Overall: 9 out of 10
Notes: Service was delightful, with good coffee and great food. I loved the breaky feast and chilled table water.
Food we tried: iced latte, breaky feast, the smashed avo with haloumi and bacon.
Very nice place, waitresses were very friendly. We only took takeaway coffees as we were heading to the beach up to Sunshine Coast that day, and it was amazing ! The coffee is soooooooo nice!!!! Wow. We were all impressed cause the place was quiet busy so you always expect to get poor quality coffee, yet, it was one of the best, the only negative thing was that mine was warmish.
Out of all the brunch places we've tried in Brisbane, this would have to be the best. The cafe is especially busy Sunday mornings, so it's sometimes a wait for a table, however, it's completely worth it. The coffee is always perfect and the big breakfast is mouth watering. Definitely recommend!
Beautiful menu and decent coffee. The young girl who served me was extremely polite and they were very accommodating. They just need to work on having all their food served to a table at once verses in dribs and drabs.
My fave place to go, the staff are happy, the coffee is great (and consistent). The food is awesome. Definitely recommend to become a regular here ;)
An amazing little spot for brunch. The pulled pork with kumera mash and poached eggs was so tasty. Coffee was the right temperature. Service was quick and friendly.
Taste plus, great presentation and great service. Italian sausage w poached eggs & pulled pork breakfasts are top notch. Pulled pork was perfectly caramelised and just the right size. Italian sausage was wonderfully seasoned and slow cooked. Just what we needed!
5/5 !!!!
This is my second time visiting Samson and Sophie, the first time my friend and I enjoyed a sit down brunch which was DELISH. The second time was just now where I had a takeaway coffee and raspberry & coconut loaf (served with ricotta and honey) which were both AMAZING. Presentation was still so nice even though it was just a takeaway.
The beautiful staff completely made my day (I am currently struggling through my final assignment for the semester) and even though the food is really good, the staff are the ones that will make me keep coming back!
Coffee is strong as hell, thank god because I really need it today.
Will definitely be coming back for more coffee and delicious food! Thanks guys!
The first thing I noticed was how busy it was.....then I realised why. Samson and Sophie is one of those local places that leave you no need to go anywhere else. Great menu - I had bircher muesli and it was absolutely delicious. The coffee - very good and the vibe - awesome.
I really like the fact that they accomodate dogs! Great stuff.....
The best breakfast in brisbane! Our local fav and never disappoints ! A must try if you love smashed avo eggs and hallumi !
Great service
Friendly staff
Perfect location

Staff are friendly, coffee was good. The food was just on par, the brekky burrito needs some sauce and perhaps a bit of a runny yolk, was just okay, needed some moisture. My partner's smashed avocado was good though.
These guys have great coffee and an all day breakfast menu. It's small but very cool, with a funky feel and super friendly staff who were unfazed by a super busy Saturday morning.
I got the Roast Pumpkin Fritters with honeyed carrots, wilted spinach, house yoghurt cheese and poached eggs (with avo added) and everything was delicious.
My guy got the House Cook Up with bacon, poached eggs, roasted tomato, chorizo, organic sourdough and relish with the halloumi swapped for avo. You've gotta love it when cafes have no issues with substitutions.
I'd love to have this as my local cafe and by the looks of it they have a lot of regulars. The quirky rustic tables are a nice touch but not very functional when trying to eat your meals.
Great little cafe. Ordered coffees and fruit toast and banana bread. All were lovely with a great flavor. We didn't order much as we were going to the Powerhouse markets afterwards, however we had massive plate envy for many of the breakfasts coming out to other tables. I think we will need to go back to try something different.
The breakfast at Samson and Sophie was delicious. The serving sizes were good and the meals were reasonably priced. It did take quite a while to come out though for breakfast but I would definitely go back.
A little slice of authenticity amongst the more "commercial" establishments in the area. Excellent coffee, friendly staff, causal atmosphere + decent food. I wouldn't line up for a meal there, however you won't be disappointed if your standard "Brisbane smashed avo" type food takes your fancy.
I have found myself in Tenerieffe quite often lately. We decided to test out Samson & Sophie and it definitely lived up to expectations. The menu was simple but difficult to choose from. I decided on the Avocado Toast with dukkah and feta $12.90 and added two poached eggs $4. The eggs were cooked beautifully the avocado was smooth and fresh, the bread was crunchy. What more could you want?
Good, honest food. You get what it says and tastes as it should. Nothing groundbreaking but nice to get a solid brunch when there are so many hit and miss places! Also, fantastic, friendly service was a bonus. Will return.
Great avocado on toast and such a chilled out atmosphere only down side was my hot chocolate was crazy sweet I let 90% of it in the glass. But would definitely come back.
Came here for Father's Day breakfast with my family and so very glad I chose Samson & Sophie. The staff were lovely and the food came out in generous portions as always!
Igor is by far the best Barista here - makes a beautiful coffee and service with a smile 😊 very cute cafe and great location. Will be returning again soon
Beautiful location, just a short walk from my house! My housemate and I decided to go for breakfast here. Lovely setting with cosy tables and chairs. I ordered the Roast pumpkin fritters which were fantastic! Couldn't quite finish it but the flavours were incredible. My housemate ordered the House cook up, which was your basic eggs, bacon, sausages, mushrooms and organic sourdough. It was massive! He finished the entire plate and was satisfied. The coffee was great along with friendly service. Will definitely be returning.
Yummy, fresh food in good sized portions. Seating is outside so dress for the weather!
Great find!. Came up to Bris from Melb for the weekend and was starving after the early flight up! Looked up nearby cafes and saw this one - great find! Coffee was great, food was fresh and yum and we even took a loaf of bread home from the deli section as the brekky was so yummy.
Really lovely!. Came here as a group of three and ordered the avo on sourdough with smoked salmon. the food and coffee was absolutely delicious and the customer service was so lovely and we were well taken care of! the decor here is also adorable
Favourite cafe. Avocado on sourdough with haloumi was one of the best I've had in my life, seriously. Soooo good. The coffee was great too. I want to come back every weekend!
Love this place. Spoilt for choice living in New Farm but I'll drive past five coffe shops to stop in at Samson & Sophie. Staff are alway friendly and great coffee & food make it worth a visit. Italian eggs for breakfast or roast pumpkin fritters for lunch yes please!

Great find. Stopped in for breakfast. Sweet setting, very friendly staff who were happy to make you feel welcome and have a chat without getting in your way. Delicious coffee and avocado on toast- yum! Will definitely return- keep up the great work :)
Thanks for the amazing breaky. I bought a friend here for the first time and she loved it.. thanks always amazing
Diana. Love the fact you can sit outside with the pooch in tow & watch the passing parade. Nice for a relaxed Sunday brekky. We chose the pumpkin fritters minus the poached egg, only whinge was the food was not hot enough for my taste & lacked a spicy hit. Other than that the coffee was amazing, very well poured with smooth flavour. Partner had the ham & bean dish commented it was lacking spice too. I told him to add the red chilli from the pot next to us. They have lots of fresh herbs growing all around the courtyard area-nice touch
A great little piece of brisbane, great coffee, delicious savoury and incredible cheesecake with trinkets to take home.
A Vow of Silence. It's so cute. From the live grass growing on the reclaimed bbq tables to the interior of natural-hewn woody goodness. It's cute in scale also, perhaps too much so. Twice I've steered the Vespa this way and twice been seated so shoulder-to-shoulder with other punters that you have to do that knowing smile and establish in an unspoken way that their salacious gossip will not be retained (unless you happen to know someone they're talking about - it is practically in New Farm after all).
The damn sun is also an issue. I hate sitting in the full sun and the sooner an awning appeareth, the better. Coffee-wise, this place is good. Food-wise - also good. Service-wise, it's OK, struggling with the fine lines between staff numbers, service, and viability. I know it's a tough one to get right. S+S is a good edition to the already well-serviced area, and if they can crib a bit more space to allow those at the next table to converse a little more privately, they'll do well. I should also mention that for the area, their prices are on the high side, but not outrageous.
I will return, but might cruise on if it's looking full, or sunny.
Dropped into this cage over the Easter weekend while up from Melbourne, had the ham and beans & they were amazing, with beautiful fresh sourdough, will definitely return again.
Friendly staff & were able to make a plate to my suit dietary requirements. Quality food! Cute decor but needs sun awnings - got a bit hot sitting outside.
Loved it. Cosy & Cute!. Stumbled upon this gem one early morning. Not a great deal of seating, so you may miss out on peak times.
Loved: The interior design - rustic and bubbly. The muesli & coffee were excellent and the honeycomb on top gives it something extra. The meals are a decent size.
You may not like: Not getting a table at peak times. They've kept it intimate, probably to ensure that the quality of service says high.
Will return.
Coffee good, food great, inside venue too crowded with stuff they're trying to sell, actually takes up possible seating area, needs awning outside as full sun (understand it's coming) won't return til then or winter when sun is welcomed. Very popular so super crowded but food came quickly. Better hand washing needed from barista who sneezed then pretended to wash. Suggest putting water bottles in fridge, luke warm water on a hot day not nice. Inside tables super small. A ceiling fan inside would also be good in summer.
Was in Teneriffe today and had an iced coffee and a pear/cinnamon bread. Delicious! The iced coffee came with cream and icecream and made with real coffee, and the pear/cinnamon bread which was recommended by the staff who served me was amazing. It came lightly toasted with ricotta and unbelievably real honey, still in the honeycomb. Good job guys, I'll be back!
Awesome staff and fantastic food! Pumpkin fritters were a bit too dry and doughie. But the ham and beans were amazing with the beautiful fresh sourdough. Raw cheesecake was to die for!
...ordered the slow cooked ham hock with beans in a tomato sauce with poached eggs and sourdough. it was a very pretty sight. The tomato sauce was super rich and had been cooked long enough that the kidney beans were full of flavour. The sauce was so rich it actually gave me a bad case of reflux about an hour or so afterwards. The pulled ham hock was delicious as well, smokey, salty and so tender.
Possibly the best breakfast I've had in brisbane, I will certainly be back to try more menu items.
Delicious. Popular family run place with a great menu. Had the Teriyaki Chicken Bowl a coffee and a juice and everything was top notch. Chloé was really lovely and you can tell she takes great pride in what they are doing there. Highly recommend.
Outstanding coffee, phenomenal food and amazing service 👌🏻 Chloe and the team at Samson & Sophie are always so friendly and will go over and above to ensure your dining experience is second to none. I get my coffee (and often breakfast) here every day and I can’t recommend them highly enough. 10/10 🙌🏻

If you need any recommendations for breakfast and lunch in Teneriffe area then @samsonandsophie must be in your list. This cafe is hidden gem with the rustic and old timber look
What we had:
🥚Shakshouka (VO)
Spiced tomato stew w/ capsicum & chorizo, garlic greek yoghurt, mint, poached eggs, mixed greens, turkish bread
🥞Pancake of the day (Special on the day check it out with staff )
🐔Teriyaki Chicken Bowl
With soba noodle, miso dressing, edamame, red cabbage, cucumber, pickled daikon, avocado, kewpie mayo and crispy shallots
3.75 stars - charming cafe with friendly staff. Coffee was made well but wasn't a big fan of the coffee beans. Iced matcha was also too milky. We tried the:
☆ Chilli corn fritters with scrambled eggs - fritters were quite doughy, flavours were nice however presentation was not very appealing
☆ Shakshouka - bread was toasted beautifully, base is very tomato-y so will need to portion it out evenly when consuming but still enjoyable
Friendly staff. Ordered Angus beef burger and Turkish eggs. Very flavourful and the breads of both are delicious. Would love to try everything from the menu.
Samson & Sophie…how I love thee!!!
So, you have to try everything on the menu!!!
I highly recommend the Persian Avocado, the house salad and my favourite pick-me-up drink, the Green Glow!
Oh and how could I forget the COFFEE!!!
We had their Persian Avocado with the works, Turkish Eggs, House Salad with Smoked Salmon, and their special Hot Cakes. Everything was spot on, and what impressed us most was the house salad which not only looks good but taste amazing as well.
While they do offer some familiar dishes diners can find any typical Western café’s menu - think Eggs Benny, Smashed Avo on Toasts - the dishes are jazzed up so well that you don't feel like you're just getting a generic breakfast. We just wished that it was closer to us folks living on the South side.
