I went to Yuzu and Co last night and a pre movie dinner. It was bloody excellent. We ordered prawn gyoza’s, kingfish with jalapeño, assorted tempura and the sashimi taco’s. Couldn’t recommend high enough. The Gyoza’s were some of the best I’ve ever had.
Service was excellent, staff were friendly and best of all, they’re on the entertainment book. Delighted! Why a great night.
During lunch at the Indimex Cafe a fortnight ago, Meatballs And Beef Cheeks enquired if I would accept an invitation for a 50% discounted meal at Yuzu&Co, a Japanese restaurant at New Farm. I accepted and I am today accompanied by my partner and Mum for lunch. As we walk into this chic little restaurant I watch with amusement their reaction as they meet Cooly Singh, owner and head chef of Yuzu&Co. Chef Singh from Northern India was previously 2nd Sous Chef at Sake where he worked for 5 years.
Menus and cold water are provided while we chat about Yuzu&Co which is just over a year old. I explain to my guests that the Yuzu fruit is used in the preparation of foods in Japanese cuisine. I suggest we dine on the dishes from the menu and ask Chef Singh to select our lunch order.
Our first shared dish is a surprisingly large serving of Popcorn Shrimp, tempura prawns tossed in a spicy mayo. Served hot from the fryer these fresh prawns are an instant winner.

The presentation of the Ikura Scallop draw many compliments. The scallops are topped with chilli oroshi, salmon and flying fish roe and served in a Ponzu sauce. These fresh sweet scallops is my Mum's favourite dish.

The Kingfish Jalapeño in a Yuzu soy look so fresh and appetising. The sashimi fish is so fresh it is quite firm. Personally, I would prefer the Kingfish sashimi slices a fraction thicker.

The Sashimi Tacos look simply exquisite and reminded me of Espresso&Matcha's recent meal at Nobu, Burswood Casino. The crispy nori tacos are filled with diced salmon, tuna and a tomato salsa. Perhaps a touch more salt in the salsa but these yummy tacos are a delicious mouthful.

After four seafood dishes I'm pleasantly surprised to see Chef Singh appear with a meaty platter of Wagyu Truffle. Sliced MS10 Wagyu beef topped with a truffle salsa in a Yuzu soy. These thin beef slices are lightly seared on the top side and are my partner's favourite dish.

To complete the meal, a plate of beautiful Pork Gyoza in a Ponzu sauce are served. Having eaten dumplings all over Brisbane, these Gyoza are good but not great.

Knowing my Mum is a chip lover I ask for a serving of Tempura sweet potato fries. They arrive hot in a light Tempura batter and are well received. Being outside of our lunch order I won't rate these fries.
Yuzu&Co is a tastefully decorated and unassuming restaurant on Brunswick St. Some of our dishes today are undoubtedly five star in presentation and would match the culinary creations of some of our fine dining Japanese restaurants in Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
Good luck and Domo Arigato Yuzu&Co!
Yuzu&Co are simply the best Japanese in New Farm! I have been here several times and ordered take away more times! We simply can not stop going back for they're fresh gyoza and tempura, which is amazing!
What a find! Amazing good and service. Wonderful waitress suggested our meal items to ensure we tried the most popular fishes and could meet our movie deadline. This will be our new favourite place for Japanese food
My boyfriend and I really ENJOYED our dinner here and left so full. We ordered 6 dishes (Popcorn shrimp, Salmon ikura, Kingfish jalapeno, Wagyu truffle, Wagyu burger with charcoal bun and the Salmon & tune poké and enjoyed every dish. If I had to pick a favourite it would be the salmon ikura. The server was super friendly. We were hesitant to try this place out because of a few reviews however there were more POSITIVE reviews then negative so we thought we try it out ourselves and it DID NOT disappoint. If we lived closer we would probably be here at least once a week however we will DEFIANTLY be coming back. 100% satisfied
Excellent food, staff and music!! Chicken karage roll is the best !!! But i also looove the burgers !! Nice location! I'm always there !! :)
Have dine in here a lot of time ,even the restaurant was full but the food was really nicely presented and tastes delicious.a must go when you are in new farm.we loved the sashimi set and specially their nori tacos with sake shot
Oh what a great Japanese meal I had here. Tried all their yuzu classics and house salad. Were amazing, fresh and full of flavours. Definitely worth a visit
Great food and fast service, gyoza are the best I ever tried, chefs are really professional and know what the doing. Would be back again thanks yuzu team
That was my second visit and both time I'm really impressed with food and service. Kingfish and wagyu burger are must try here. My new favorite Japanese restaurant.
I went here with a Groupon deal. This is my first Zomato review - I came on to give this little place a rating because I had a lovely night. The popcorn tempura prawns and the tempura prawn sushi rolls were the highlight. I really liked the casual and friendly service as well, the staff checked-in every now and then and were genuinely interested to see if we liked the food. I'll be going back again to try the burgers!
We found this little gem in a small row of restaurants on busy Brunswick street. We ordered the kingfish starter which was a standout. The beef sirloin main was amazingly tender and the sauce worked perfectly. A vegetarian side dish of wasabi mixed vegetables was a unique option and reminded me of the kind of vegetable dishes you only get in Japan. Lots of gluten free options too. Will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu.
Went to this little Japanese restaurant with my girlfriend last week. It doest look like much from the outside and you hardly notice it walking past but I'm glad we went in. The waitress was friendly end helped explain some of the dishes. We ordered a few of the 'yuzu classics' the Kingfish sashimi was fresh and matched perfectly with the other elements. The Wagyu was delicate and delicious and the scallop was amazing. Its obvious the chef and staff put a lot of care and effort into each dish. Not too expensive for such high quality. Highly recommend.
Went to this little casual contemporary Japanese for lunch last Sunday. Had a Groupon deal with extra orders to feed my stomach. Starter of Popcorn tempura prawns presented with fusion idea but lack of pop corn-feeling neither in visual nor gustatory aspect. I had a very nice dessert done in similar idea with molecular gastronomy, however this idea of savory trial deserves appreciation. My suggestion is to follow a side dip of mayo instead of directly mixed with the prawn in order to avoid undermining the crispy feeling. Please imagine what happen if you put the sauce directly on a tempura prawn! Kingfish dish deserve a thumb-up in terms of presentation but the soya sauce was too strong and made a negative impact on the fresh taste of kingfish. Beef Sirloin done in a perfect med-rare with nice plating, however, I found the middle of individual sirloin piece was cold. Miso soup was average. At the end, we put extra order of soft shell crab roll and Salmon & Scallop rolls. Rice of roll was balanced well with right proportion of vinegar but the texture was too loose and soft. I could not taste any flavour of soft shell crab but the refreshing feeling from the raw scallop in the middle of the roll orchestra with the salmon at the top, which save marks on the review. Overall service is good and I think the chefs are really show their passions. As a conclusion, I do appreciate their inventions but the dishes need a little bit of touch-up.
When I'm in the area, I always go here. The salt and pepper tofu is delicious, I get it every time. The staff are always super friendly and the service is very fast.
Yuzu was a surprisingly delicious departure from Brisbane's typical casual Japanese restaurants. I went with my partner tonight for a quick mid-week dinner, starting with miso soup, edamame and salt & pepper calamari, all of which were among Brisbane's best. However, the highlight was a tie between the chicken karage burger and the wagyu beef burger; these were a delicious twist on contemporary japanese eats. Like the food, the service was very impressive; short waiting times and warm, friendly staff. I'll definitely be returning as soon as possible and recommending Yuzu to all my friends.

Amazing enviroment and great attention. The owner/chef and the staff are always there to give wise sugestions and reply any question about the dishes. Definitely my new favorite place and I'll be back very soon.
In the picture "The delicious special" Chawanmushi.
Dropped in for a quick bite and we were delighted with really good Japanese food. Don't be put off by the cafe style interior, the food was excellent; fresh and well priced. The chef/owner was formerly sous chef at Sake.
Delicious food and great service, must try and I'll definitely will be back,I loved the kingfish jellpino, and vegetarian guise which had tofu
This is a very cool Japanese restaurant! The sushi is top notch here, as is any dish on their menu. Plus they have an interesting, if short, wine list. This place definitely comes recommended
This is one of the more affordable yet tasty Japanese restaurants in Brisbane. You can take your family there and dine out with friends while enjoying their signature lunch special, chirashi which is also available on weekends.
I definitely highly recommend the chirashi dish for those who enjoy fresh sashimi at a very affordable price. The tempura is also a dish that is done to perfection. There isn't anything that I could fault.
Staff were generally friendly and helpful. The restaurant was clean and street parking was surprisingly plentiful (or maybe it was just by coincidence I parked right in front of the restaurant).
Definitely do give this place a try if you haven't already done so!
I’ve been there first time.
It was great time with my friends and we really enjoyed Chirashi sushi.
All fishes are fresh and so tasty.
Just remain restaurant at Hosokawa.
I will definitely come back there.
Pleasantly surprised to see a Japanese restaurant with a Japanese Chef (Hosokawa San) and Japanese wait staff. Warmly greeted, we are promptly shown to our table.
Our lunch is served in under 20 minutes. The Sashimi Bento and Teriyaki Salmon are good while the Chirashi is exceptional with a very generous serving of mixed Sashimi. Highly recommended!
Probably the best value for money (quality vs cost) Japanese restaurant in Brisbane! 🍣🍙
Mizu is an underrated gem. The staff are kind and the food is amazing.
Highly recommend the eggplant 🍆 miso dish (authentic menu). It is excellent 🤤
Recently ordered takeaway from here. The food was really enjoyable. Well put together and delicious. The only negivate for me was the price difference between the standard Benton box and a deluxe Benton box. Both boxes had identical amount of food except for in the deluxe box you got some tempura. For an extra $14 you got 4 tempura pieces, 1 prawn, 2 pumpkin and 1 zucchini. I thought it was very expensive for what you got. I'd recommended going for the standard box. the deluxe was very underwhelming and i felt ripped off.
We ordered Wagyu beef, Sashimi Bento box and Salmon roll today. The fish, Salad/veggies are both very fresh. Yummy TangYung Fried chicken coming with the Sashimi bento + Mini dumplings, Miso soup❤.. we are definitely going back again!!
The Chirashidon is our always order favourite dish as well.
