The duck was my favourite š
The meat was well cooked and the plum sauce added a really nice flavour to it. Both beef and chicken were quite good too š„©š
Pre Covid- 19 restrictions- Pochana by Kinn Thai is always super packed so we were lucky to be seated quickly before the Friday night rush. We ordered a Chicken Pad Thai ($16), a Green Curry Chicken ($16) and two rice ($3 x 2) to compliment the dishes. Pad Thai here is always a classic to order because it never disappoints - the best balance of sweetness and savoury. ā£
Overall our experience at Pochana is always super amazing but a warning would be to beat the night rush and be seated before 7pm.
Awesome meal and drinks!
Travelling from Melbourne where we have quite a lot of amazing Thai places, i was keen to try Pochana after hearing some amazing reviews.
I have now been back here twice and loved it each time, service is prompt, drinks are awesome and most importantly the food is yummy!
Second visit: Always appreciate the generous amount and variety of vegetables, as well as the impeccable flavour. Weirdly the sticky rice cake came in a lump wrapped in gladwrap. Seems dodgy but ok...
Amazing, flavoursome food. Got the chilli jam crispy pork stir fry and the green curry. Honestly, all green curries Iāve had taste the same to me so I canāt really comment on that, but I thought the pork belly was excellently cooked - the perfect balance of crunch and softness. The dish was overall nicely balanced out with the broccoli. zucchini, carrots and onion.
Had to wait for about ten minutes for a table on a Friday night. It was absolutely packed.
Love everything about this place & it was buzzing seriously when we dined recently with friends. Authentic Thai food with pizzazz & spice & flavor flavor flavor, just loved it. Started with fish cakes to share they were juicy & came with peanut & sweet chilli. For main I ordered the vegetarian penang curry, lots of chillies, basil & fresh vegetables. They also have amazing cocktails in huge jugs & glasses made for sharing
The satay and pork sticks were fun, very tasty starters, with the mains also being delicious. Authentic flavours, some with welcome twists
Pochana's cocktail and beer selection is more than ample, too, for a good time
Service is super, as is the ambience. If you don't like loud music, ask for a table away from the band/speakers
Stopped by here for dinner with a colleague on a work trip for it was fantastic! Great atmosphere, delicious food and great prices! Well worth the visit!
Beautiful restaurant with heaps of options. Order was really fast even at busy time. Very friendly staff and tidy restaurant. My most favourite Thai restaurant in Brisbane CBD
One of my fav thai joints in Brisbane. Have dined here a few times now and Pochana never fails to disappoint. The menu is slightly different to their predecessor, Kinn Thai. Great for big groups for both lunch and dinner. The lunch menu is great value with a lot of dishes for under $15! We usually get a few selection of dishes and share amongst a group. My favourite dishes include the Papaya salad soft shell crab and BBQ pork ribs.
3.5/5
Once upon a time, as a tragically unadventurous eater, pad thai was my everything. Chasing a nostalgic craving, I revisited this old friend at Pochana in the company of another old friend (who then pinched my chicken pad thai idea - rude!). Couldnāt care less about the authenticity or otherwise, I just know we enjoyed our twinning meals & will return based on this lunchtime interlude. Tardis-proportioned space is quirky, as is the expansive menu; service is perfunctory & fast; thereās well priced separate lunch specials & an energised atmosphere. Nice one.
Open late, great food, whats not to love? I get this mostly on ubereats. Usually get the spicy noodle, and maybe a basil stir fry or a pork rib soup when it's particularly cold.
I had dinner with a friend on Saturday a Pochana from a recommendation and so glad my tried because the meal and atmosphere was fantastic. We shared the chicken skewers and a Tom Kha soup. We were both surprisingly full after the soup, it was fragrant and the perfect spiciness. I would order again and would recommend Pochana to friends.
Had Sunday lunch at this lovely eatery at the end of March. Lay out is cosy and service is attentive. We took the advantage of their lunch special and ordered the mains of Pai Thai and Grilled Chicken Rice. In addition, we ordered the entrƩe of Betal Leaf Prawn, Crab Prawn Rolls and a Tom Yum Seafood soup. Food production seems slightly under as compared to its sibling - Kinn Thai but very close. Love the Tom Yum soup with generous portion. Crab Prawn is crispy. Pad Thai lacks the 'wok qi' and the grilled chicken rice is just passable. Having said that the varieties of drinks on the menu add mark on the review. Overall, CP ratio on lunch special is good but I still prefer to have it at Kinn Thai rather this one in the city.
Thai Cuisine has been amongst my favorite and Pochana was just outstanding in terms of perfection.
ā”ļøWhat Did I Try?
Crab & Prawn Roll
Southern Fish Curry
Steam Rice
ā”ļøCrab & Prawn Roll
Thin layer which contained minced prawns and crab fried to crispness with some sweet juice around it. Perfect if you are a fan of non spicy appetizer.
ā”ļøSouthern Fish Curry
The creamy curry was delicious, it comes with a few large pieces of fish filler which is sufficient for 2. The curry just containers fish and Brocolli. To. Me Brocolli was not the right match. Moment you eat the Brocolli it feels very hard chewy and leaves you with a bland taste as by then all the curry is Sipped down the throat.
Team could work with additional veggies replacing the Brocolli which could make this a world class one.
Would I Come Back?
Yes to try the chicken curry š
Awesome service, food is authentic tasting and full of flavour. Affordable. Drinks menu is awesome, an ideal place for pre-dinner and drinks before a night out. Will hopefully return soon!
Had good food and service here. The prices were a little steep for the portions, but taste wise, the food was great. They were accommodating as we were celebrating a birthday.
Really cool interior, yummy food, quite cheap and quick. It took a while for someone to take our order but once we ordered it didn't take long to get our food.
There was a funky looking cocktail menu so I'll have to come back sometime later in the day.
Overall a really nice lunch
Great place with lots on the menu. Some authentic thai dishes too which you don't see on many menus. The hot and sour soup with pork mince or chicken is truly great and has lots of texture. Beware of bones, but I guess that's part of the experience. Duck pancakes are delicious in homemade herb crepes. Always busy, get there early on a lunchtime and enjoy!
Honestly soooo good. Food was good went as a group and ate everything the vibe is on point šš¼ so happy I went with my friends there was a little mix up they bought out the wrong 1 food but they fixed it straight away
I absolutely love coming here despite how busy it gets even during lunch! The pork belly and soft shell crab dishes are one of my favorites in Pochana and Kinn Thai as well! The large drink that shares up to 3-4 people is ingenius! I loved it and will always come back here for more!
Finally tried pochana after a cheeky Elizabeth cinema date night and the place was absolutely pumping! Cocktails were the goods, really tasty and well presented.. only downfall was they were a bit light on the alcohol for me. Thatās probably just the binge drinker in me talking. Had a few of the dishes and they were all really tasty. We had such a good time we forgot to take photos of all our dishes :( definitely recommend though the food was really good and the vibe was buzzing
We turned up on a Friday night and got a table straight away down the back of the venue past the bar. Large groups, small groups and couples all began filling the place quite quickly. We ordered a bottle of wine to begin and then perused the menu. So much choice! We decided to share fish cakes to begin... they were hot and looked delicious with chilli and fried basil leaves on top- they tasted every bit as good as they looked. Next came chicken pad Thai, steamed rice, steamed vegetables and prawns in chilli and basil sauce. Very filling and tasty food. The wine was all gone so we ordered some sparkling to finish with. Bigger tables ordered large cocktail jugs which looked spectacular. We have decided to return with a larger group to sample some of the well priced and photo worthy drinks on offer. The decor is fun and colourful and the staff are super efficient and friendly. Brilliant night out. When we left there was a queue waiting to be seated!!
Went here with Amanda for lunch! Its in Elizabeth Street a few doors down from Sushi Edo, so good luck finding a park. I like the atmosphere of this place and the fact that its more of an eats/drinking establishment. It's open to 1-2am most nights too, so finally a place to eat besides Maccas after work!
They actually have a lunch menu but we got a few bits from their regular dinner menu too. The first thing we got was the chicken hot and sour soup, an absolute cracker of a dish. Lots of fresh and dried chilis giving the whole thing a real spicy kick, a pleasant sourness and lots of rich depth in the broth itself. It came with a lot of tender shredded chicken, some fish balls, fried wonton wrappers and thin rice noodles. Since having it, I've learned how to make it and its a regular part of my menu for braces life.
For our entree, we got the crab and prawn spring rolls with plum sauce, I don't actually like this style of wrapper for some reason, too delicate! The filling was quite soft and squishy, I don't remember anything really about this dish.We got the coconut chicken salad with poached chicken, poached prawns, betel leaf, Thai herbs, cashews and a coconut dressing, so freaking good. The serving was a bit small, I would've easily been able to eat a huge serving of this! The flavours were just so well balanced, spicy, creamy, salty and sour with tender chicken and prawns, crunchy cashews, the creamy, zingy coconut dressing and the refreshing herbs, coriander and mint. It was a textural and flavourful delight!
We got the salt and pepper ribs but they weren't anything too crash hot. Soft bone pieces of pork, that had a pretty good char on them though. Hard to eat with braces!Ā Amanda also got two large Thai iced coffees from here, one that she drank straight away and one as we were leaving. She clearly enjoyed them haha.Would definitely go back here again! The food is interesting, pick wisely though as out of the four things we ordered, two were stellar and two were average!
Seriously yum! Highly recommend the peanut noodles. Theyāve got the perfect amount of spice and are drowning in delicious satay sauce. The noodles are also soft and go perfectly with the crunchy peanuts and veges. The service isnāt a 5/5 but the food definitely is.
Delicious food, attentive and friendly service. A great place for a quick lunch with friends. I will definitely be back to try more items on their menu!
No reason not to go
The best thai restaurant in brisbane
Better than kinn
GreAt place to hang out with friends
Big glass of cocktail and long straw are exptic
Amazing atmosphere friendly staff, food tasty and fresh. Not a fan of the hard shrimp but overall we were extremely happy with price, location staff and quality of meals recieved.

Hands down the best place for cocktails and amazing Thai food! Best venue, great location in the heart of CBD and amazing presentations! Came here for a friendās farewell party and it was the perfect atmosphere to celebrate with friends.
Food:
We ordered the papaya crispy soft shell salad, the red curry duck, the three flavours whole barramundi, pad thai (with prawns), beef wok style and rice. I was quite satisfied with each dish. The papaya crispy soft shell crab and red curry duck was my favourite! The flavours of the crab and papaya had a nice balance between sour and salty even though it looks so simple. The red curry duck had interesting flavour combinations of lychee, pineapple and duck (which was something different). I would definitely recommend to try!
The barramundi was nice and crispy, I felt that it was quite bland and needed salt (they did provide some papaya salad on the side but it was very spicy and there was not a lot). The pad Thai was very nice, it had a sour and tangy taste which created lovely flavours. The beef wok was quite average (tasted like stir fried beef), had nothing unique or special but it was still flavourful. The prices of the food was very reasonable for the portion that was given. For small dishes it ranged between $5-$10, medium dishes were between $12-$18 and large dishes were $28-$32 which is quite cheap when shared between a group of people.
Drinks:
As soon as I came in, most tables ordered the āBenzine 95ā and āChill Chillā cocktails so I decided to give it a try. Best decision ever!!! The āChill Chillā cocktail was massive! It contained peach and lime juice with sparkling wine, so it was sweet, light and refreshing. We ordered both the āBenzine 91ā and āBenzine 95ā because it was just so good and I absolutely adored the presentation. The presentation was like those old school gas pump but especially loved that you pour the drink by physically pumping it out into a shot glass! Very clever and interesting presentation. They both tasted amazing too, to me they both remind me of an alcoholic punch. The āBenzine 91ā (red one) tasted like a tropical punch (it contained lychee, cranberry and lime juice) and the āBenzine 95ā (the blue one) tasted a bit like Gatorade to me (had Japanese sake, citrus and curacao liqueur). The prices of the drinks are actually really cheap too because these drinks are big enough to be shared and you get a lot of shots out of one Benzine. Especially when comparing to buying one cocktail in a bar (usually they are $12 - $18) for a glass, so it is very cheap here. The āChill Chillā cocktail was $39 (to be shared between 3-4 people) and the Benzine cocktails were $16 (shared between 2-4 people).
I absolutely loved all of the drinks! The presentation was unique, they are fun to be shared among other people, they are all really tasty and I love that the alcohol taste wasnāt too overpowering so for those who donāt like the taste of tequila or vodka or those who are only occasional drinkers can still enjoy these cocktail because it has a lot of sweetness. The alcohol also doesnāt hit you hard in making you feel drunk. Perfect for a fun night out!
Ambiance:
The place was very packed so luckily we made reservations. But even though it was very busy with a lot of staff, they were still nice in providing great service when we needed more cups or utensils. Itās just a bit hard to get their attention as it was very loud and they were running around a lot. I really enjoyed their live performances in the middle of the restaurant, it creates a very fun and lively atmosphere.
Overall:
I definitely recommend to try their papaya crispy soft shell salad and red curry duck dish. For drinks, I know that people will enjoy the Benzine drinks (I recommend the blue one for those who want more of a stronger alcohol taste to their cocktail as it has sake). The āChill Chillā cocktail is very sweet so for those who likes punch cocktails then this one is for you (definitely should order if dining in a large group). Super fun atmosphere with live music and a great place for birthday celebrations or a nice dinner with friends or family. Will definitely come back! š
I'm a huge fan of this Thai restaurant. delicious food with friendly staff and comfy dinning environment. Oh! The Thai milk tea is my favorite:)
Better than the King Thai in garden city. I am not very sure whether this store is same as the one in garden city, but I felt Pochana was better than that one (but I ordered different dishes). For all Thai restaurants I have tried, I love the Elephant Phat most. But However I definitely will go again to try their special cocktails!!!! They all look so nice.
A place worth trying if you are in the cbd. Reasonable prices and you can find āsomewhatā healthy salads. Food is flavoursome and good range of mild, medium and spicy dishes. The menu is also well styled for small, medium and large dishes. Apart from the food the ambience is great, there was live music the night I went. Definitely recommend trying it out!
This venue is pleasing to the eye. The decor is great. The food service is swift and importantly, the food is good. The Dear Luncher enjoyed a chicken Pad Thai here and it was great to enjoy a chicken Pad Thai without an influx of fish sauce. All ingredients were bang on. Moist chicken and snappy bean sprouts.
Singha on tap to wet the whistle throughout the experience. The confusing "only one card payment per table" at the end of proceedings made things complicated for a large group of diners. Aside from that, an experience that lends itself to a return visit.
Good Thai flavours and portions. Ambiance is great. Had spicy Chicken noodle soup -had plenty of fish sauce and lime - very good. Beef dish was delicable. Chicken satay had ok peanut sauce but chicken done perfectly.
best pad thai iāve had in brisbane. actually reminded me of the pad thai i had when i travelled to thailand. the chicken pad thai i ordered had tender chicken that was cooked perfectly, not too dry/overcooked, and the pieces were cut into bite size pieces. there was also tofu, onion (not a lot since itās not traditionally used but just a few slices), bean sprouts and crumbled peanuts (well crumbled and not the annoyingly huge peanut pieces that are sometimes found in other placesā pad thais). generous amounts of noodles. altogether, the dish was very filling and tasty. i really loved it and itās a decent price for a place in the city. much cheaper than other places. definitely going to try more dishes here~
rice noodle soup dishes were also very good, although i do feel like there could be more for its price. still, i do prefer the pad thai to the rice noodle dishes (which i see as more of a viet dish than a thai dish).
ambience was nice although i came before the dinner rush so iām not sure if it gets super busy later. but the place is spacious and thereās a lot of staff (who are very friendly). lighting is quite dim so taking photos required extra lighting from my friend hahaha. the menus were also rly interestingly designed! canāt wait to visit again.
Readers who go frequent the CBD or social media a lot would not have failed to notice the opening of Pochana, along Elizabeth Street near the new cinemas. Created by the owners of Kinn Thai, we were assured of the standard that it would set and so I made plans with my much respected food reviewers, BrisvEGustationĀ one lunch to try it out.
Good food, good cocktails and good vibes.
Place is themed quite well, the look of the menu is kinda funky with lots of choices which is great. Staff are friendly and serve in a timely manner.
Impressed on the first visit by the awesome ambience, lively atmosphere, authentic Thai food, friendly service. Surprisingly the prices are pretty reasonable. Offered a wide range of cocktails and mocktails and various choices on food menu. The only con was the restaurant wouldnāt suit families with babies/kids since it was congested and looked more like a bar than a restaurant.
Have been to this restaurant a few times, consistently serves authentic Thai food. Enjoyed the fish cakes & corn fritters as an entree. Ordered vegetarian green curry for main, good spice hit & fresh flavours
Every where in the world I go, I hunt for good Thai food. And here in Brisbane I'd say I love the Thai food they serve here.
We ordered tomyum soup : Strong explosion of flavours, the sourness and the spicy flavours were simply amazing. The portion of prawns served were quiet generous
Soft shell crabs : the curry that comes along is very different, the burnt onions, the chillies and the taste makes you want to eat more. Loved the foodgasm.
Green curry with beef : I've had better green curries elsewhere, this was sweet and dead. Didn't really enjoy it.
I've still given 5 stars, for the rest of the food and dining experience.
Will try again soon
Food was very very good..spicy and authentic with good quality ingredient. Food come out fast as well. Minus 1 star because waitstaff don't really care and the loud hip hop music.
One of my wife and I favorite Thai restaurants in the city. The prices are great for the quality. Panaeng Curry is creamy and rich with flavor. Pad Thai is delicious.
Love love love this Thai place ...been their for lunch , dinner special days never ever have been disappointed....staff is friendly and helpful. Food is amazing serving size can be better šš but everything on the menu is super tasty....
Quick service , always full, people have a great time here for sure...decor is good..
Keep it up guys....we will be back every week...š
Super tasty Thai! I only had the chicken pad see ew but can't wait to come back and try other things on the menu. The pad see ew was full of flavour and love how lemon was infused with the sauce. The chef knows what works!
Friendly staff. Great atmosphere. Tasty food. Decent portion sizes for price.
