Great little cafe with South American (Columbian) slant to the food and menu. We stopped in for brunch and kept it simple with the Columbian Scrambled Eggs, a Spanish Tortilla and finished off by sharing the Cheesy Tapioca Waffles with ice cream and berries for dessert (photo).. Wow!!! All washed down with an extremely good “iced” long black. Will be back!!
Delicious breakfast of poached eggs and cauliflower patties with rocket. Coffee was great, small family run friendly cafe with indoor and outdoor seating. Many gf dishes , plenty of favourites . Open till 2 weekdays and 6 on weekends. Liked it very much!
Dropped in this cafe early this morning to be their first customer of the day. When I approached the counter, all the displays of food, no matter they are in the cabinet or on the counter table, tempted my appetite. Ordered my coffee and just a simple croissant with jam & butter. Took a seat inside and enjoy he peaceful moment. It did not take long to have my orders on the table. Barista’s pouring skill was reflected by the well presented flat white with strong aroma. The Genovese brew is one of my favourites. The croissant was carefully warm up. If they could use better butter and jam, then a higher mark could be achieved.
Dropped in here for a coffee with oldies and a bite. Ordered the Haloumi Panini, which was delish. Genovese Coffee to boot. Only criticism was the waitress mistook our orders for coffees as it was a little lost in translation. Other than that, a quaint old converted corner store with loads of charm.
We all enjoyed a lovely and simple breakfast at Bungalow. Great coffee, friendly service and simple but tasty foods! We will be back for breakfast again soon- yum!
A great little spot to stop for coffee or tea. They serve Genovese coffee and tea from Byron Bay. The Brownie is also a delicious treat to add on the side 😊
Have been here with my dad, and on my own. Gorgeous little cafe. Great place for breakfast and to read the paper of a Sunday morning. Yummy looking baked goods on the counter that I've yet to try but are on the list!
Had the big brekky with the damper. Also grabbed a side of hash potato. Definitely hit the spot as I was starving, however it wasn't anything that was overly outstanding. Coffee was from Genovese I believe, seemed as if it was a lighter roast (asked for a triple shot small and tasted very light and fruity). I'm interested in trying their new venue which is apparently on the same road. Will give this place another guzzle in the not too distant future.
Great hidden gem located in Hawthorne. Beautiful fit out and friendly staff. Love the danishes and cabinet food...I live locally so can't wait to try more menu food.
the Hot Smoked Salmon w Horseradish Cream ($19). Whilst it should always be the case that staff have an intimate knowledge of the menu and how it’s prepared, we know that this is often not so. Happily, our waiter knew the menu and was able to field the questions. The hot smoked salmon came piled on a piece of dark rye toast with a ghostly poached egg. A wedge of lemon was a great addition, to add an additional tang to the already zingy dish, as a result of the horseradish cream. A deceptively simple meal but with that smoky flavour, very moreish.
I love this little place, there's no better spot for breakfast in East Brisbane. The staff are always friendly and the kitchen is super fast especially if you get something from the takeaway menu which actually has some of the tastiest items! The bacon and egg bagel and a coffee are an amazing $12 breakfast everytime.
Really nice looking cafe with cool seating and decor. The coffee ( I can't remember which brand) was nice and I really enjoyed the soy. I had a coffee and a danish. I can't wait to come back and try the other food on the menu. The wine list looks nice!
An awesome little cafe, with great food, great coffee, great people and wonderful service. It's the place in Brisbane I tell all my family and friends to go to enjoy a lovely breakfast and THE best coffee in Brisbane, always with a smile !!!
Lovely Cafe! Have driven past many times and it's always busy. Went for breakfast and it didn't disappoint! Great food, polite staff, great service, enough said. Will be back for sure!
Great ambience, service, coffee. This is a great little place. So much better than Oxford st cafes which are dull and always plagued by a lack of parking. The coffee is the best in Brisbane. The staff are the same always and they are very good!
The food is very good although I think the menu tries to be a bit adventurous and the end product does not quite live upto it sometimes. The chef seems very capable and the kitchen is well run. The hot cakes are great, the bircher excellent. Sometimes they have special dinners.
Prices are a little high but it is Hawthorne/Oxford St territory not bogan Logan.
Breakfast Favourite. We stumbled across this little treasure by chance. It is fabulous. The place is cute. The food is fantastic. Do your self a favour, go here for breakfast. We love it.
We must try this place for breakfast as it seems to please a lot of people.
We only had lunch here once and I must admit the place is cute and the service was friendly but the sandwiches/burgers that we had were overpriced at $18 and not that good, they were ok, but not great. If you want a fabulous tasting toasted Turkish sandwich for $9.95, go to L'art café on Riding road. I have been many times and have not been disappointed.
Good food but some issues. Went to Bungalow for a Sunday lunch. We enjoyed our food, it was fresh and tasty and the service was mostly good. Unfortunately I had the worst cup of tea I've had for ages. Why are coffee drinkers so well looked after and tea drinkers treated as second class? Tea was extremely weak and was served in a coffee cup, from a very leaky teapot. At least it was real tea, not a bag!
Also, I really hate it when cleaning products are sprayed about when I am still eating. We got the drift from window cleaner and also from the table cleaner spray, most unpleasant. I suggest you save cleanup until after closing time. Rushing about gathering up cushions etc when diners are still waiting to be served is not a good look.
Love it!. Great service, food and atmosphere.
Reasonable prices and food is always amazing.
Always a great place to go for a coffee or lunch!
Charming old world atmosphere. Enjoyed my home baked savoury scone & loved my Genovese coffee.
Lovely breakfast, especially the muesli!
My husband and I had the best brekky here yesterday . Great coffee and atmosphere, it's nice to know someone has got it right.
Bungalove. Am slowly falling in love with this new eatery
Staff who want to be there and serve you with out the angst of having to work but wanting to work
Love the coffee never a disappointment there have tried a few breaky items loved the new sardines on offer especially the tomato chipotle sauce so tasty ,mmmmm and the large plump sardines are divine ! The fresh baked scones are to die for I recommend the savory with the House made relish as really sets the flavours. Will recommend to anyone as food is fresh and yummy and priced nicely for location
Being a local am loving a change and something new in the area
All +++ from me so homey the food love it
Awesome tasty cheap food and great staff definitely recommend this cafe!
When can I move in?. I’ve been to Bungalow three times now since its recent opening and love love love it! The service is friendly and the food is EXCELLENT. Really great breakfast menu. As expected there are a couple of the usual suspects on there, which you have to do, but they’re done well and with care. What I really like are the number of other more interesting options to mix it up, which I personally look for on a breakfast menu. All of my meals have been perfectly cooked and I was impressed with the obvious high quality of the ingredients used. I’m 90% sure I tasted love on my last visit ;-). I can't handle a lot of food in the morning and am much more a fan of quality over qantity so I really loved the lighter options and managable portion sizes too. I was also very impressed with the good quality coffee used and the barista seems to know her stuff because each one I've had has been consistently good.. and I drink soy! (don’t hold that against me).. but I know how hard that stuff can be to froth correctly! Lastly, I love the décor, very cute and vintage which made it a really nice place to spend time in. It’s a very small place so you’ll be lucky to get a seat on the weekends but well worth it if you’re willing to take a gamble. I also highly recommend sitting out the front in the big deck chairs if you can nab one. They have fluffy blankies for all of you born and bread Queenlanders who are complaining that it’s cold right now (it was -5 in Canberra this morning people!) so you’ll be warm out there, and it’s a really really nice place to sit and relax.
All in all I would describe this place has having great attention to detail. From the organic sugar, cute vintage salt and pepper shakers and old fashioned straws and milk shake glasses, to the modern juices and drink options available to put in those glasses, along with the excellent, well presented food. I can tell a lot of thought has gone into every aspect of this little gem. Keep is up Bungalow, cause I’ll be back again.. and again.. and again
We had lunch here last weekend. Wow. It was great! Very reasonable prices, excellent menu and nice staff. Large range of vegetarian food. Will back soon!
Cheap, funky, I love it!. I went here for lunch with my husband as it is just a quick stroll from my house and was amazed to find that lunch for two came to $14! I can't understand how others find it overpriced, the kids menu is full of $3 items and my quiche for lunch was $6.95
Not only that but the place has a great vibe- they've done a great job of doing it up. The only criticism I have is that there isn't much outside space- I think they should try and develop a back deck or something which I'm sure would be popular. Oh, and they shut at about 2pm- we often fancy an afternoon coffee, but it's shut then. They must be losing business shutting so early.
Nonetheless I'm thrilled to find somewhere local that does such great coffee and such quick and cheap food, whilst feeling expensive. We'll be back!
Great service, friendly and attentive. Food is amazing.
My new favourite spot! Delicious CHEAP food especially the baked treats, good coffee, friendly staff.
Breakfast was Ab Fab. My grand-mother lives just two houses down so I took her up there for breakfast. I really loved the retro feel to it. I was actually jealous as I wanted all the cool and spunky furniture in my house. Service was very high and superb. Meals were fresh and tasty and the coffee was very humble. Couldn't stop peering at the large collection of freshly baked goods on the counter (oh, yummy danishes and croissants): P. An overall winner on all respects and I can't wait to go back there!
Easy to park, sleek but charming decor, very friendly wait staff and the food was delicious. Fabulous! Take note Brisbane cafe scene - this is the way it's done!
New place in Hawthorne. Nice new place, lovely atmosphere. Food was very good the only thing we would say is that is is overpriced and blatently so. If you make up your own breakfast if will cost you way over $20. They weren't open to any substitutions either. We think that if you are going to charge those prices you should earn it, even Pearl is cheaper which is still the best place for breakfast in brisbane. In an area which is inundated with breakfast spots good value is important to people.Saying this we will be back and that is a compliment in itself.
1st visit and highly impressed. Attentive staff, good food good coffee. Maybe slightly overpriced.
I spied this cafe when I took a different route home... The food offerings in the cabinet looked delicious and yes, I succumbed to the Pineapple and Coconut Gluten Free cake. The cake was beautiful, light and full of soft pineapple sitting on the background of coconut.
Thankfully, it was really worth the wait. The food was pretty impressive, we ordered the Bungalow one pot breakfast, potato and sweet potato rosti with spinach and poached eggs, home style creamed corn pots with baked eggs and finally a scotched eggs. They were simple, yet scrumptious!
The breakfast menu offers simple and rustic dishes in a reasonable price range.
I ate really delicious Colombian food. And very beautiful plates I got. Also they were all so kind. Thanks for good food today. See you next time :)
Delicious breakfast and coffee. I had the gluten free eggs Benedict and it was amazing!
Wow this place is a cute little gem 💎. My sister and I get our eyebrows done at Browzing right next door and decided to have brunch at Bungalow - the staff are so friendly, place was clean and love the wallpaper and wall tiles, the coffee was soooo good and the food was great and we didn't have to wait long either, we both had the - Polenta waffle, leg ham, poached egg, hollandaise sauce now this was delicious and you still felt healthy after eating it. There are also cool white chairs out the front if you want to stop and have a coffee. This is our go to cute cafe from now on... Can't wait till next time.
Food and Service were great, price was on point.
So wonderful! A beautiful building & decor, delicious food and incredible service. If you like simple (ish) food cooked to perfection, you'll love it. Nothing fancy or snobbish, just really good food. Ooh, great juices too.
Great coffee, friendly staff, and I love sitting outside on those deck chairs! They're dog-friendly too, with water bowls and places to tie up your pooch. Great little breakfast spot on the weekend!
Beautiful food. Loved their carrot cake! Very good coffee and obviously a good barista. Friendly staff. Want to have our daughter's 21st there. Recommend this spot to everyone.
