Review Home Cafe Ashgrove - Brisbane

Zucchini and corn fritters gluten with a pineapple, lemon and ginger fresh squeezed juice. Good menu but didn't seem to have many small meals to choose from

Stumbled across this cafe after sports with the kids. Fantastic service, great food, awesome coffee and will priced. Will definitely come back next time we're on this side of town.
ATM
Be careful, Crazy prices and very misleading menu prices for the extras. Check you bill price before ordering to know if you are getting charged incorrectly. Ordered corn and zucchini plate with extra mushrooms, spinach and tomatoes which is listed one line for $4.50 but was charged that for each item so three times price we thought. Add toast and two large coffees and price came to $60 which is far from value for money!!! Don't even get an itemized receipt to know what you are paying for. We won’t go there a second time and will sharing this bad experience to our family , friends and local neighborhood

Honestly horrible experience. I came in with my brother and got a table for 2, we were sat down at a unclear table that didn't get cleaned until we almost left. Our food came before our coffees did and the coffee was in takeaway cups (without being told why). We were never offered water or to have our table cleared. If your of any ethnic background that's not white expect to be treated second, cause we watched it happen to us. We're both usually quite nice about things like this at cafes (when your busy your busy) but there was literally no reason we should have been treated this way, there was more than enough staff but most seemed very untrained. Plus everything is expensive for how little you actually get food wise and the quality of the coffee was horribly burnt. If your planning on coming here don't.

Staff are so friendly, coffee is amazing, haven't tried the food yet, but it looks sensational, pretty sure I drooled on someone's food as it went past.
Daniela Harrison
Delicious coffee, food and staff are very friendly. My family and I always have a great time, with a beautiful service. My regular takeaway coffee (always in a perfect temperature) and treat during the week!
Erin De Brincat
Very tasty meal and great coffee! Staff were friendly and service was quick.

Overall, the food was great with lots of interesting options and good choices for the kids. We also really liked the coffee.

Very delicious food and coffee

Such a disappointing experience at this cafe. I went with two other companions. One ordered the special of the day; pumpkin and eggplant salad, with extra feta for $1. My self, I ordered the vegan bowl with an added poached egg.My other companion ordered a cappuccino and the Americana burger. The first meal (the special) came out 20 minutes before the other two; so it was half done before we could all eat together. There was not much added feta to the salad, although it was paid for. The cappuccino looked beautiful but was burnt. The Americana burger was hearty, but with a brioche bun, causing the burger to become mushy and fall apart as it was being eaten (see photos provided). The worst was the Vegan Bowl. it cost $17.90, plus an extra $2.50 for a tiny poached egg, which was half hard-boiled, costing a ridiculous $20.40 and as you can see from my photo provided, as a little bit of kale, some diced pumpkin and pumpkin hummas smeared at the bottom with some chickpeas. Will not be returning, thats for sure.

Quite a while ago, Grace and myself went out for brekkie at Home Cafe before her weekly music class. We have driven past this cafe multiple times but have yet to set foot here. Parking can be tricky I think but we just parked next to a park or you could park outside Coles. As we walked into the cafe, I was overjoyed to see a small children's play area with some toys. This has certainly got Grace excited! As we await for our meals, she kept herself occupied in the kid's playroom.

There was a hair in my club sandwich. I don't think there is anything worse than finding a hair in your food. The problem was that the waitress just said she'd tell the kitchen. An apology would have been nice! The food is usually good here. Then I followed it with a milkshake and it was not cold and had little flavour- a very ordinary milkshake. Just not my day! I've been supporting this cafe for years but it's well past it's best. It's time to find and support another local cafe.
FOODIE ADVENTURE
Great coffee. Got a simple cap and it was perfect and tasted great. Coffee done really well. Service was fast and friendly. Very convenient location as well.
Emma
I like the food. coffee a little hit and miss. Also several of the tables are quite uncomfortable (directly on a busy road, or on uncomfortable stools) so if busy I wouldn’t bother. Service has been a little brusque at times too

Had breaky here on Easter Saturday.... just saw it open so we stopped and oh my god am I glad we did! Best avocado and haloumi ever with a side of delicious chipolatas!!! Good work guys! Your food is amazing :)

I have never been disappointed with anything there. Amazing food, drinks and staff. I also love that our lil pups are allowed to come with us 💖

We're very accomodating for vegans! Always a nice stop here in Ashgrove, the chips are also so divine! I had the smashed avocado and it's one of the best I've had!

There are plenty of cafes in the Ashgrove area and this one seems to be consistently full. So decided to give it a try. As usual, it was quite busy and my partner and I had a browse of the menu then went up to order. Service was very efficient. Not overly friendly but during peak rushes that cant be helped. Drinks were very prompt and I thought the crockery was lovely. The coffee cups and tea pots look very nice. Now 2 meals and 2 drinks came to $50, a little pricy compared to other cafes in the area. <br/>I ordered the potato rosti which was ok. The rosti itself came in two triangles. One of them was beautifully cooked. The other.. not so much very overdone literally couldn't cut it with my knife. It was a shame because the pesto eggs were actually very nice. My partner got the big brekky.  He was satisfied with it.. although nothing special. The portions weren't overly massive and I'm not sure if they are worth the $16-19 they are charging. Not a bad price compared to other places but expensive when the meal turns out the way my rosti did...<br/>Would I pay $50 to visit this café again..? Probably not. But might have come on a bad day..
Chrissyknight77
Owner/Manager was extremely friendly towards us and our son. The coffee was good as was the food. The price is reasonable and relative to the portion size. The cafe was well kept and clean. The wait time was reasonable and we appreciated that the kids meal was brought out first.
Sushi To Sundaes
Over the weekend we tried another local Ashgrove establishment – Home Cafe and ordered ‘The Haloumi’. The food could not be faulted with poached eggs cooked to perfection, generous servings of haloumi and bacon and crispy turkish toast with creamy avocado. The Haloumi – two poached eggs, bacon, haloumi and avocado on turkish bread

Where do I start?!?<br/>I have been here multiple times and it never ceases to impress. <br/>Staff are welcoming<br/>Food is great and with the portions are good<br/>It's a really good spot for families and there is a little play area for the kids to run into. <br/>Owners are very welcoming
Hungrygirl
The food here is okay, nothing to rave about but I have had worse (and paying $7.90 for a small juice is a bit of a laugh). I know it says family friendly but this place is basically a day care center. Every single time I have been dragged here, there are children running around screaming and causing chaos, it's awfully loud. Last time I went, there was a child at the next table who kept coming over and grabbing and pinching my legs. After the parents refused to control their brat, I asked the staff to do something about it and they refused. Won't be going back.
Phoebe Duke
Foodie fantastic and no matter how busy it is (which is always) I never feel like I am left waiting for ages for our order. Great atmosphere and would recommend the Haloumi and the Bruschetta. Great coffee as well!
Brisfoodiefangirl
Had a lovely work breakfast here this morning. The staff were lovely and the venue is really cute and authentic. The meals were reasonably priced and decent sizes.

I cannot stress this enough! There is nothing like walking into a cafe, and instantly feel like you're "home".<br/>This place is truly a gem! Friendly owners, friendly staff, kid friendly AND pet friendly!<br/>The food is delicious! A bit of a wait, but well worth it. <br/>Ordered two big brekkies, chai latte, cold drip coffee, and OJ. <br/>The OJ - freshly squeezed, just the way I like it. The chai was frothy and smooth, maybe just a little too sweet for my liking. The cold drip coffee was THE BEST I've had - I highly recommend trying it! <br/>The food - delicious and oh-so-filling (see pictures for details).

Hello - Paul Condren here and i am the father of an eleven year old 'Home addict' ! she loves it here so much she wants to work there in three years time when she can. She loves the blt brekky sandwich and pancakes and she loves the way she is greeted and remembered every time we visit. A top spot in Ashgrove for a really good culinary experience.

Really enjoyed our lunch meals. Beef burger was juicy and hit the spot. Fish special was perfectly cooked and side salads were noticeably fresh. Overall service is good. No surcharge on a public holiday was a pleasant surprise. <br/>Nit picking element was marginally slow wait for food to come out.
Lifelovetravelfood
Always good coffee! I love having this place as my local when I visit Brisbane. I finally got to eat here and was just as happy with the food. We went for a mid-week breakfast and service was quick, efficient and friendly. Prices are fair too, especially for the portion sizes! <br/><br/>My Mum chose the pork sausage special which came with scrambled eggs, spinach and bacon. So much bacon! Sausages were delicious, very British tasting! Dad had the potato rosti which he enjoyed, plus it was also a big serving. I had the vege breakfast and it was HUGE! It came with half an avocado, toast, rosti, mushrooms, tomato, homemade baked beans, spinach, haloumi and poached eggs. Phew!! I didn't come close to finishing it!<br/><br/>Great spot, great service, excellent coffee and great food.
Tessa Truesdale
Consistently perfect coffee! The owners are very accommodating. Lovely food, I don't think I've ever been able to finish the whole plate despite my best efforts! So delicious! Would definitely recommend this place!

Arrived late on the mission for a decent feed and the owner still allowed us to order, very friendly interaction and would come back just because of this. Then the meals came out and wow, instantly impressed with the size of the meal, the presentation and the quality. I ordered the club sandwich and the date had the lamb sandwich. Extremely satisfied with the overall experience and I'll definitely be back.
MacDog
Went there for lunch today - first time trying. I live nearby - thought okay why not (it was my friends idea). I ordered the Grilled Chicken salad. For $16 odd dollars it was so not worth it and looking back now I feel ill about it. It was plain quinoa, a small handful of cherry tomatos (actually was the best part of the dish), rocket, and very very pale grilled chicken (not tasty) with a tahini dressing. The tahini dressing didnt taste like tahini, and if it was in fact tahini it tasted like it had been mixed with mayonnaise or rather lard. Not tasty at all. Won't be back.

After a well earned breakfast pass (south bank run) it was redeemed at the Home store and Cafe. The service was prompt and cheerful and as a result our drinks were on the table within a few minutes. This was soon followed by our brekky options, with your truly selecting avocado bruschetta and scrambled eggs. All the big flavour hits worked in unison with textural crunch from the toast finishing it off. All in all, a solid breakfast option and well worth a return visit.<br/>Food 8/10 service 8/10 decor 7.5/10

Nice coffee. Popped in for a quickie. Nice place, nice vibe, nice coffee...

On the corner of two busy roads in the heart of the suburb of Ashgrove, Home Store and Cafe is an extension of the pint-sized Home Store right next door. It is bigger, but still maintains a small homeliness. Though it was only a short venture here, enough about looking around indicated why it continues to attract lots of people in the nearby area. <br/><br/>One day I had ventured to this side of town to visit an old schoolmate from years back, and it basically involved just catching up at his house and having a conversation about how life is and everything. During the meeting up, it was brought up that he wanted to join the library and one was close by. Also, during the years of absence it was made known how I all of a sudden developed a taste for coffee - therefore, as a last meeting point for the afternoon, the two of us went out, and with his knowledge of the area. One place that he often goes to was possible, but being a Sunday it had closed early (plus was the library). So, with a bit of searching around he suggested this as one of the places, and being open - even just for a while longer - it was decided to be the place. <br/><br/>The interior is very bright and would not look out of place on the front cover of a design magazine. It has enough of that cute aesthetic, plus heaps of bright colours and natural light to really emphasise the look of the place. Using the name, "Home", they really emphasise it by having a welcoming environment. <br/><br/>There is a bookcase off in the corner, heaps of magazines to read, and it also partially doubles as a store, with fragrances, and music available for purchase. It also keeps the kids in mind by having a private playroom, and organising a lunch box option for them. It is all open-aired, with the door open during business hours to let the breeze through; additionally, heaps of al fresco tables are available, plus the literal window seats in a line like a counter. This is definitely the meeting point in the neighbourhood. <br/><br/>The service, as it can already be expected, was quite pleasant. It is done with smiles, and was really efficient. Note, hearsay is that this place can get very busy during the peak hour times; when my friend and I were here, we were about the only two seated at any of the tables. Therefore, the orders arrived promptly. It is the usual counter service, where you go up and place your order, pay and get a number then find your chosen seat. <br/><br/>Home Store + Cafe does the usual range of cafe fare, including the much loved all day breakfast. Basically, just expect all of the favourites to be here and they will likely be on the menu. That also means heaps of sweets to go with your choice of drink, and that is always good enough for me. Hey, it is what I am here for and why I am leaving a review. It is a positive one as well. <br/><br/>There is one name that does it for me when it comes to the coffee roasters, and that is "Campos". I have been somewhat more inclined to go somewhere based on them advertising that they use Campos for their coffee beans. It was not the deciding factor, but seeing it on the porcelin cup brought a smile to my face. From the doppio that I had, which was well prepared, I noted that there were fruity notes in the beans. It has a less acidic texture, and more focused on sweet while being at the right temperature for drinking - not too hot. <br/><br/>As always, a good coffee needed to be paired with a sweet. I can't quite remember what it was that caught my eye, though it certainly resembled a pear tart. Adding to the aesthetics, this was served on a bread board. It came with a side of cream. The crust of the sweets was crumbly, and had a good buttery taste to it. Inside was soft and moist, with a few bits of pear mixed through. It could have worked a bit better with a more distinct filling, but overall it went well with coffee on the side. <br/><br/>So, I can definitely see how Home Store and Cafe works for many people. It combines the needed atmosphere and aesthetic that makes the local tempting to go to, with good quality and wholesome fare. Colour me impressed with it.

Have been to the home cafe Ashgrove about 6 times in the last 3 months, always have enjoyed the food and prices are very reasonable compared to my other favourites (delicatezza, Valentina, plumb tucker, elixir etc).<br/><br/>What sets home cafe apart is that the service is always warm and friendly and the team here are so easy to get along with.<br/><br/>Between my wife and I we've had a number of breakfast items and have been happy every time. Special mention to the acai bowl (wee asked for a bit of honey over it and it was the best we've had in brisbane) and the big breakfast. I'm a big guy and the big breakfast was too much food for me.<br/><br/>I'm happy to wait 15-20 mins for food and coffees when the service is personable and the quality is consistent.<br/><br/>Definitely worth a try!

“Lets be honest if somewhere boasts an all day breakfast menu I am already loving it before I arrive. I didn’t think it possible but Home Store Cafe had me leaving happier than when I arrived. “. We arrived at lunch time which only added to our menu options. There were way too many delicious options it was a very hard decision. I decided on the Mediterranean Breakfast (Turkish Bread, Field Mushrooms, Confit Cherry Tomatoes, Haloumi and Poached Eggs with Pesto) all to get to the counter and notice the specials board and change to the Avocado Special (Toast Turkish, Avocado, Haloumi and Poached Eggs with a Balsamic Glaze). My lunch date opted for the Rib Eye Fillet Steak Sandwich (Sourdough with Caramelized Onion, Lettuce and Tomato with Beer Battered Chips). Our meals were presented beautifully and were cooked to perfection. My eggs were runny and the meal was hot. The steak sandwich was delicious and the chips were nice and crispy! The breakfast bruschetta is their most famous dish!

We have been several times for either breakfast or to pick up a T/A coffee. While they started out well I think they have become a victim of their own success with the standard of food (breakfast) declining some what. Most Sunday mornings you will wait for a table. <br/>I read with interest the experience of others where waiting times for breakfast can be up to 1 hour and a take away coffee can be 15 minutes. I too have had the same experience. <br/>The staff are very attentive and the atmosphere is ideal for breakfast. It is great to have this type of establishment in Ashgrove and I am all for supporting the local businesses. They just need to develop better systems for service delivery. Will be back.

Amazing little cafe. This is my absolute favorite at the moment! beautiful local owners and great coffee. They even put little water bowls out for your dog. Delicious food as well :)

Response from owner. As the owner of Home Store Cafe it surprises me StephanieJowett and Jimandjoe to read your review after your visit to our cafe on February 10. On the day you came to our cafe you all sat outside as we had a group of 30 people booked for the back of the cafe. Due to that fact I don't understand your review about screaming children. Your table was not anywhere near our kids room on that day.<br/>You are also implying that your food never arrived, which is also not the case. When you were ordering I politely explained to you that there was a 20/25 minute wait on food as the large group had just ordered. Due to the wait time you all chose to just have coffee, so no food was being delivered to your table anyway.<br/>We pride ourselves on our customer service and as I was the person who served you I know I apologised and explained about the wait (as we always do) in case you did not have time that particular morning.<br/>We welcome feed back so that we can continue to provide a great service and product, however I don't believe your comments are a true indication of your experience.<br/>We thank you for your visit and hope that you will try our cafe again so that you can see what we have to offer in full.

Really impressed. Great service, tasty breakfast, coffee and good sized meals. Eggs were a little over cooked, mentioned to staff and they were only too happy to provide new ones - which were perfect. We will definitely be back.
Adgreen1972
Wonderful place. Friendly staff and the little room off to the side for our 15 month old is a great idea. The French Toast was delicious as well. We are lucky to have this place so close to home!
Jimandjoe
Rubbish service and unapologetic staff. The bulk of the clientele are too busy being distracted by their screaming babies to notice the poor level of customer service. Food delivered at different times (if even at all)
Stephanie Jowett
Screws over regular customers. I came to this cafe for my birthday breakfast only to be told that the kitchen couldn't handle making food because they were hosting a function. Hot tip: if you can't actually serve your customers, save everyone the time parking and lining up and close or post a sign outside. As a long time customer and Ashgrove resident, I won't be back.

Great Breakfast menu. Always love a place that has a good all day breakfast menu on a weekend!
Coffeeloverbrisbane
How are you meant to eat eggs on a wooden chopping board? Runny eggs drip all over the place! Too messy!!!

An hr long wait on average food.. I used to be a regular at Home Store but decided to stop going there based on the crowds and the long waits for takeaway coffees.<br/>I decided to give Home Store another go yesterday with my family. As expected, it was busy. We were told that it would be a 30 minute wait on food, which we were fine with. After 45 minutes, we decided to ask the waitress to check on our order, the waitress was lovely and apologised for the inconvenience and did offer us complimentary drinks. After an hour, our food finally arrived. I ordered the Mediterranean Breakfast - my poached eggs were hard, my haloumi was undercooked and the bread, too hard to cut through, so I picked it up and ate it. Really disappointing experience. I live in Ashgrove, and there is nothing more fulling than supporting a local business, however when you wait this long for underwhelming food, it really does make you think twice.
Ifyamurphy
No EGGSaggreation. While the menu looks promising, fresh and definitely bang for your buck -- i can't look past the fact that they use cage eggs and not free range. Now I work for fruit and veg supplier and I can appreciate there is a price difference -- but come on! 2014. Free Range eggs are more ethical and genuinely taste better. Didn't order anything in the end. Very disappointing.

Great breakfast and good service. I will be back. Looks like early is the key though. It was PACKED when we left.
Foodlover
Fabulous food, brilliant service. We often come to this lovely cafe for breakfast and lunch. Not once have we had a bad experience here. The food is to die for and the coffee never disappoints. Nothing is ever too much for the staff and we love how friendly everyone is. Today we ordered an Acai bowl (which we order most times) and it came out a tad watery and didn't seem to be the same as the one we normally get. Immediately the owner came out with a big smile on her face and brough us a new one, with no fuss at all. Absolute brilliant food and service. Would recommend to all!
Tessa_davis94
Great service !. I go here all the time! the staff are all so friendly and welcoming and the coffee is always good to! I've only had a few items off the menu as i usually dont have time on my way to work to eat in but never been disappointed with what i have ordered. Muffins are Delicious and the cranberry and pistachio cookies mean serious business, amazing! Highly recommend ! :)
Berni Watson
Make it a regular morning stopoff. Great spot for morning coffee, you might even be lucky to grab scones with home made jam! Fantastic, friendly and efficient service. Often busy on weekends for brekky, so worthwhile making a booking.<br/>The healthy 'home lunch box' menu item for kids is a welcome relief from pretentious food they just don't want!

Dissapointing. Some how have managed to make campos coffee taste like its from a tin...<br/>burnt bitter and just plain crap
Murphy75
Eggs Benedict with Bacon. I try the Eggs Benny every we go for breakfast, and these are among the best I have had, serving size was perfect, the eggs poached well and the bacon was superb the entire dish was cooked perfect.<br/>The service was wonderful coffees where great you can't go wrong with beans from Campo.<br/>Over all great atmosphere, service and food is my new go to place for breakfast.

We've always meant to go here but finally got round to it. <br/><br/>The visit was well worth it. The service was lovely and friendly, the coffees amazeballs and the Bircher muesli and eggs Benedict we had were perfect. Will definitely turn this into a habit.

Portion size?. I've got to agree with the others here. Something has changed in the kitchen, portion sizes and quality are not worth the cost any more. Was a favourite and I still get a coffee every so often but hopefully the food situation goes back to normal soon.

Going downhill - you need to lift your game. Ive been here a couple of times for breakfast and each time the quality deteriorates and the price goes up?? How does that work?? There is nothing "Big" about the big breakfast. The kids pancakes was meant to come with fruit and maple syrup, but came as one solitary pancake about the size of an adults fist with a dribble of maple syrup on the side. The French Toast didnt come with any of the accompaniements. At 8am they had run out of bagels??? overpriced for what it is. When we gave feedback to the owner, we just got a shrug of the shoulders and "our chef is new". After spending nearly $100 dollars on breakfast, we were all still peckish. Will never go there again.

Brekky nachos - when the portion size was good (not anymore). This was the portion size I had last year of the brekky nachos, which has since been severely reduced. The tortilla crisps weren't as seasoned and yummy as they were in this photo. A bit dissapponting.<br/><br/><br/>-----18 Aug, 2014-----<br/><br/>Lived in Brisbane last year and came here quite a few times. It had really awesome food and coffee!<br/><br/>I swear the brekky nachos were the best thing I've ever had for breakfast.<br/><br/>BUT I came back here for a visit last week, and the portion size was cut by at least a third! Instead of being served on a plate like last time, it came out on a bloody chopping board (new, lame trend... why??). Also, the tortilla crisps didn't have the beautiful seasoning that I remember so fondly, and they were lying underneath the scrambled eggs, making them soggy...<br/><br/>Why ruin a good thing? Why be stingy and reduce the portion size? I definitely wasn't full by the end of it :(<br/><br/>Yummy coffee though, and beautiful interior as always.<br/><br/>Pretty cut tho...

WOW WOW WOW. What a fantastic surprise! Read the review of this place in Style magazine and sounded great, so took advantage of a wet Saturday to go and try it for ourselves. One word, AMAZING!!!! Such a friendly, comfortable cafe to sit and enjoy breakfast. The staff were super friendly and really seemed happy to be there, food was well beyond what I expected, great sizes and even better prices. The cafe itself is so inviting I could have stayed all day. I'll be back to work my way through the rest of their menu.
Tez And Loz
Winner. After hearing a new chef had started we dropped in for breakfast on Saturday morning. And WOW was I impressed, from start to finish. The food looked amazing on the plate and tasted even better. <br/>Could not fault anything. Friendly staff, quick service, fair prices and of course outstanding food and coffee.

Average. Crap Coffee, Crap service, had to wait while coffee girl was busy talking to army guys for a very burnt coffee, croissant was warm but soggy

Amazing coffee!. We popped in here while killing time before checking into our accommodation and weren't disappointed! Lovely place to hang out and read with a DELICIOUS coffee. being from melbourne we have high expectations so we were very happy!

Amazing food & great coffee. This relaxing cafe is definitely a good place to relax with friends!

Great food if you can get a table!. Simple review; this place offers great food and good portion size.<br/><br/>The only downside is that because it is so good, it is always busy, so you could be waiting a little while - bring a good book or your ipod for angrybirds!

Went here today with a friend for lunch. I ordered the special of pulled pork and slaw. It was delicious and it was very filling. The staff were extremely friendly. We will definitely be back!

Just moved to Ashgrove and Home Cafe is my first choice. Always friendly, great food and coffee.

Mothers Day Brunch. My daughter has been begging me to visit Home for breakfast for a few months now and today we went for Mothers Day. The food was everything she said it was, delicious, generous, mouth watering, well cooked food. The coffee was better than the Campos coffee I get in the CBD. I also must add that the staff were are very friendly and the service was great especially by the nice man that took the time to come say Hi to us and ask us how our meals were. We will all definitely be back thank you Home Store Cafe :)

Never let down!. Ive been to home store a few times and have always loved it, went In today noticing they have changed a few things on there menu. I tried the sliced lamb salad which was up to my expectations and I was very happy to see a decent quantity of meat too. Food was delicious and coffee was great. Always love seeing the staff so happy and friendly. Ofcourse I'll definitely be back!

LOVE IT. I love this place great staff great coffee and food go here all the time.

Bad service. Small dishes and too long waiting time. 30 min to get a avocado sandwich!!
Jennys_23
Not what it used to be. My husband has been here before and raved about the place however he noticed whilst eating his meal that they must have changed management and chefs. To be honest the coffee was weak and had a bitter flavour, our breakfast had no flavour at all. I ordered the avocado on toast with poached eggs and mushrooms on the side. It was not nicely crushed avocado it was just green mush, they then added blocks of feta on top of the toast and a bunch of sliced cherry tomatoes everywhere. To the side they added this horrible lemon syrup which runied my meal and I had to swap plates, the mushrooms tasted like water. My husband's meal was the same had no flavour at all, he brought me here because his last breakfast and coffee was amazing. Sorry Home Cafe we wont be back here again.
Kimbarrios1
Best coffee and food!. The food the coffee and the service was so good, we've been back to try other items on the menu. Tasty wraps, delicious salads, AMAZING breakfasts, best coffee in brisbane and my 11 year old girl LOVES the vanilla milkshakes, muffins and their chips. Put this one on your list if you haven't been there. Thanks Home Store + cafe we'll be back soon. <br/>Kim Barrios

My fave place. Home Store is by far my fave meeting place for coffee and breakfast. The new owners have made some additions to the menu and Im yet to be disappointed as I work my way through the menu. Still a great place for mums with littlies up the back near the playroom which has a small kiddie doorway and contains the noise. Up front you wouldn't know kids were there. Highly recommend.

A let down. Previously attended Home Store most weekends a couple of years ago before moving. Was excited to see the menu was mostly the same when we came back. New decor. Still child-friendly. Ordered the corn fritters. Really disappointing. Tasteless! The haloumi was cold. Eggs Benedict was awful also. The hollandaise was very ordinary and lacked seasoning. The drinks were okay though. Was sadly disappointed overall. Apparently new owners and perhaps a new chef? Won't be going back in the future.
Cate
Time to leave!. After ordering a coffee just before 3pm we waited for 15 minutes for the coffee to arrive. We started to enjoy our caffeine, and then after a few minutes were asked to leave as they were closing! I then asked for our coffees to be put into take away cups and was told that we should have ordered take-away coffee, they reluctantly obliged.<br/><br/>Don't take the order if you can't fulfil your side of the deal.
Chloe
LOVED IT!. I went here for breakfast the other morning and loved it! had the bruchetta and it was amazing. The staff were very friendly and meal was the best breakfast i've had in a long time. i cant wait to go back

The children's space was great but difficult to keep an eye on them because there's no window that you can look into from the cafe only a child sized door. Regardless it's still a great space, and great food too. The coffee was burnt but apart from that we will definitely go back.

I took friends out for breakfast last weekend and it was fabulous! Great food, huge portion size, excellent Campo's coffee and really friendly and efficient service. Will definitely be coming back!

Closest to Home. OMG Where have you been all my life! We stumbled upon Home by accident. We were hungry and in an area we weren't familiar with. I saw the Campos Coffee sign and that sealed the deal. The place was buzzing with locals, both couples and families. My fave part of the setup was the connecting playroom they provided - so practical! <br/><br/>Anyway.. the drinks arrived pronto and were yummy! Food was a 20-30 minute delay as they were busy. However when they arrived... WOW I died and flew to Breakfast Nachos Heaven. Everything on my beautfully presented platter was obviously homemade. The tortillas were crunchy on the outside and soft inside. The eggs, cheese, beans.. ALL DIVINE! The potato croquettes my friend ordered were also homemade, fresh and fluffy as you bite into it. YUM! Definitely worth the wait! <br/><br/>I might have to bite the 40 minute drive and go Home again!

Disappointing. Was drawn in by the Campos sign as we drove past to get a couple of takeaways, but couldn't have been more disappointed. 2 weak flat whites - couldn't even taste the distinct Campos flavour. Not sure if these 2 were an anomaly...but with so many great suburban cafes around, won't be back to find out.

Sorry to say but hands down the worst fritters I've ever had, raw in the middle. Kitchen looked very messy from what I saw as I walked past to

Consistently good. We've been going to Home now since it opened 5 years ago and go at least once a week. We've never had a bad meal. I like the seasonal menus and the coffee is always spot on.<br/>There is a little kids / cubby area at the back of the cafe, and my only complaint is that maybe it should be checked every now and again for sharp, small pieces from broken toys as these are a hazard for young children. Yes, i know, parents have to supervise and so i do. Every time i go through the two baskets of toys and fish out all sort of dangers. Maybe less 'stuff' but couple of sturdy wooden toys would work. A good lick of paint too!!<br/>This is supposed to be about the food, so i'll finish on that note: impeccable, fresh, tasty and very consistent quality.

Diana. First up the coffee was great Campos, smooth, rich & strong, loved it. Also thought the menu for breakfast was quite interesting, we decided on the pork & fennel sausage with apple etc & the corn fritters. The corn fritters were a disapointment, they were soggy on the inside (actually raw batter) which was a shame because they were lovely & brown on the outside. They came served with asparagas, salmon & eggs so that was all good, luckily! The partners sausages were divine packed full of flavour & spice. Both meals were huge so we certainly did not leave the place hungry & we just loved the bright, airy interior & the homely feel about the whole place

Wow! I can't believe how down hill the food has gone since I last dined six months ago. Poached eggs in a puddle of water with underdone toast?? Bruschetta mix that looked liked it was prepared days ago?? Brown plates with chips in them? Burnt coffee?? I remember you being a great cafe...... Now over priced and bad!

The food is amazing! I come here all the time and the entire menu is delicious. Fresh produce, great portion sizes and a good price! Great service good atmosphere you can never go wrong!

The food is so good here I went back two days in a row. The zucchini fritters are simply excellent and they were happy to substitute the smoked salmon for bacon given I'm pregnant. Also loved the fruit crush drinks. Two thumbs up!

It's all goood.. Amazing lunch- Homestore Avocado; delicious, healthy & beautiful presentation...Get it! No Seriously! Campos coffee a real winner. <br/>Excellent service, I was treated like a friend. <br/>Love the interior of the store, owners have a real eye for style. We were even lucky enough to meet the owners, lovely people. Still not sure about the dog bowls...

I love this cafe! I visit weekly and enjoy the great food and coffee. It's one if the few places where my daughter can play in a dedicated kids area which means I can have a few quite moments to myself. The home decoration which is available to purchase adds a nice touch and differentiates this cafe from the masses. You get a 10 out of 10 from me home store!

Crowded decor, impractical kids area that you can't see into with bending through a tiny doorway, quite pricey. I had a vanilla milkshake which was too warm. I also had avocado, tomato and fetta on sour dough with preserved lemon. The lemon was far too sweet and strong and the avocado and tomato were both overrule. Not at enjoyable.

Terrible Service. Met up with a friend this morning for a breakfast catch up. Decided to try Home Store & Cafe as I hadn't been there before. From the moment we arrived service was terrible. There was a bit of a line up to order and when I got to the counter the gentleman who served me wasn't easy to understand as it was quiet noisy. We ordered two coffees (both flat whites) and after 10 minutes one of them finally hit the table. I waited another 5 minutes and had to ask where the second coffee was, 5 minutes after that it made it to me. Our breakfast order was also terrible slow. I purchased a bottle of water and was told they would bring glasses to the table, they came about 10 minutes later. The staff here need to pick up there act and speed things up a lot! I will not be back and will not be recommending to others.

Good food, coffee is ok as well - literally went to the counter to order and they said "we are not serving customers for the next 5 minutes because we are under staffed". Like its the customers problem.

Great food, good service, have eaten break here three times.

Good food, excellent coffee, service is excellent. Fruit toast is the best!

Great poached eggs. I have been to home store cafe quite a few times this year and I have always been very happy. The standard of coffee and food never fails to impress me however the level of service seems to have been a little inconsistent the last couple of times I have been in. All in all though, a great place. If you are a fan of great poached eggs, this is your cafe!
Drylandcrop
Nice cafe. Convenient location (but no parking other than the Coles across the road!), reasonable coffee, friendly service. One of my go-to places for breakfast - love their menu, particularly french toast or pancakes. Seating can be a limited in peak times, and can be gusty and glary outside... But otherwise a nice cafe with good food!

Its Only OK. Hmmm after having heard about it and visited 3 times now as it's in my suburb, I'm not too sure about this place. The food, though good, is very expensive for what it is.<br/><br/>The place shuts at about 3.00pm if I recall, which is silly for a cafe purporting to be a "hub" in the area. If they really want to be such a place they need to stay open longer. Maybe think about nightiime hours even although the 2 Italian cafes just up the road do this better.

Lovely place. Visit Home Store Cafe at Ashgrove whenever I get the chance and bring friends whenever a breakfast/lunch spot is needed. I am always greeted with a friendly smile and the staff are all so helpful. Food is great; esp the avo, fetta, cherry tomatos and poached eggs on toast - amazing! and coffee/tea is always a winner. Overall love this cute cafe, although if you don't have children maybe avoid peak family meal times as being such a child friendly cafe can be both positive and negative (eg. high noise levels and little ones running around tables).
David
Amazing coffee. The atmosphere is great. The coffee art presentation is perfect by an Asian barista.
