We have been to this cafe hundreds of times. They never disappointed us. We still believe that coffee in JN is the BEST in town. We also love the mushroom toastie. Staff are very friendly and attentive. It is a must-go place in Brisbane.
The best coffee in Brisbane; easily - hands down. There is nothing better than their filter coffee or for the milk drinkers, they do a beautiful smooth blend. The service is 2nd to none - always make you feel welcome and that you are apart of the team there at Josie’s. The atmosphere is also so cool and simplistic; with a jungle of hanging plants and modern music to start you’re day. Would recommend anyone no matter age, budget or background.
Was curious about this place as it is always crowded. Would give 5 for the cappuccino I had that morning. Agree with the foodies here that this is probably one of the best coffee shops in town especially in the west side. But the mushroom and mozzarella toastie didn’t live up to my expectations. First, it took a bit long to arrive. Second, the smoke spread easily to fill the whole quite cramped cafe. I had to put up with smoke smell clothes and hair the entire day. Third it came a bit burnt - it didn’t affect the taste (not bitter) though. The staff were friendly. All in all, I still wanna come back for the coffee.
My favourite place in Brisbane for coffee and a good simple but extremely delicious meal. I’m a regular customer and will continue to be one, never had a bad cup. Staff are amazing and friendly.
Best Coffee I’ve had in a while!
Extra Friendly baristas, Great Food, try out the american cheese toastie for beginners, its daaa bestt.
Would come again, oh wait - I’m a regular now 😍
5 stars on my books.

This place has been on my bookmarks since Fork 'n' Spoon recommended it and seen Joe K 's review this week I thought it was time I made my way to this shop.
Arriving there my first impression is that I'm in for a good treat, a clean ambient with people enjoying their coffee and a barista that makes you feel like he know all the tricks for a good coffee.
After ordering my Dirty Chai Latte I ponder a bit about what I should eat and then I decide on the Shrooms on Toast.
My Dirty Chai was creamy and smooth with a strong coffee flavour and some subtle notes of chai, I do wish it had been served a bit hotter and with stronger chai flavour than coffee but still was an excellent hot beverage and I enjoyed every sip out of it. I would rate it a 4 out of 5.
The Shrooms on Toast, I didn't know what to expect at first but on my first bite I was in love. The mushrooms were perfectly cooked and seasoned with plenty of feta cheese on top (which I guess was a Danish feta) and just enough babaganush on the toast to compliment the ingredients without over powering it. I would rate it a 4.5 out of 5.
Overall I was quite impressed with this coffee shop and I will probably be back everytime I'm around toowong! Thanks Fork 'n' Spoon for recommending it and thank you Joe K for reminding me about it!
Walking into this arcade towards Genkotsu Ramen for a second time this week, I finally enter Josie North. There are no signs outside this cafe so my first attempt to find this Cafe on a hot Spring day resulted in this thirsty camel opting for bottled water!
This watering hole is highly recommended by Fork & Spoon. It is 1pm and there are no vacant chairs indoors. Fortunately, Phuong Tran finds a tiny space with two stools. I ask for a double shot Cafe Latte which is delivered by the friendly Barista who has time for a quick chat. The Cafe has been open for 18 months and the regulars seem to keep returning for more.
I take a sip of this coffee. Wow! What a coffee hit! The coffee is smooth, strong and full flavoured. My best coffee since Cafe 63, Ascot in August. It can easily pass as a triple shot Cafe Latte. Impressive and I will be back for more. Thank you and good luck guys!
A simple and unpretentious cafe in the heart of toowong.
Food:3.5/5
Avo toast and bacon roll/burger was not bad
Coffee: 4/5
Great coffee for Brisbane's standards. Flat white was balanced without the espresso being overpowering. They use coffee beans from Melbourne's famed coffee roasters Seven-seeds.
Seemingly hesitant, I approached the arcade, walking past a Thai Restaurant, my expectations were dim. As I stepped through the doorway, smiles and plants greeted me. It felt warm. It felt comfortable. Indulging on a filter coffee, with Seven Seeds roast, the rich aroma captivated my mind. I was alert. I had clarity. Accompanying my appetite, I was served their American toastie. Delighted by the sweet caramelised onion, the toasted sandwich impressed. I frolicked down the arcade, longing for the next time. Josie North, I will return.
Came in for brekky yesterday. While the menu isn't huge, it is full of flavour and the coffee is fantastic 👌👌
Both the fitout and staff are stylish, welcoming and do their job well.
I had the cheese toastie- perfect hangover delight- onion jam, some sort of mustard I think and American cheese and fried was phenom. Partner had the thick cut bacon brekky roll- that was delicious af.
How I didn't know about this place before I'll never know but it has officially become my work commute go to
I can't believe this place has such low reviews (3.1 at time of writing). I have no doubt that it is the best specialty coffee shop in Brisbane. The baristas really know their stuff, they bring in an awesome and ever-changing array of coffees from heaps of different Aussie roasters, and they are super passionate and always up for a chat. Food is really good too, modern simple but gourmet cafe fare, often a pretty short menu but it changes frequently (perhaps monthly). It's located in a bit of a grimy alley, but the interior is clean, modern, and provides a nice neutral background which lets the star of the show, the coffee, dominate the sensory experience. Have the batch brew filter, made on a rotating single origin, and a pastrami sandwich if it's on the menu. You will hopefully fall in love as much as I have.
My favourite coffee shop in Toowong! This might even be my favourite coffee shop in the whole of Brisbane. Kicking myself for not finding this place sooner.
Really enjoyed the avocado on toast here as they added some Asian herbs to give it a twist in its flavour. Really disappointed in the coffee thought as I thought it tasted too diluted.
Awesome coffee and super tasty food!
I had the smashed avo and it was delicious, not plain like lots of places and really well priced.
The staff are lovely too!
I'll definitely be back soon!
Hidden gem in an arcade in Toowong! Two friendly guys, top coffee and delicious flavoursome food! A really great place with a cool atmosphere. Will be coming back soon - probably tomorrow!
I flipping love this place man!
Coffee is amazing, best filter I've ever had plus i've had milky coffee here and its tops too. Food is tasty as heck, the staff are friendly, non-pretentious and always seem calm even if its busy, bliss :) i would be in everyday if i lived closer! Great job guys!
Great coffee, one of the best in the Western Suburbs. A selection of beans from the East Coast giving Brisbane locals a chance to try a selection of the best coffee roasters Australia has on offer. Great to finally have a top quality cafe in Toowong! The staff know their stuff, if you're interested in hearing a bit of background of the coffee you're drinking have a chat. I also love the decor, a simple, refined look.

Hidden in an arcade on Sherwood Road is a new little coffee shop with 2 very friendly guys happy to assist you in all things coffee. Though I was dissapointed that they did not use lactose free milk (Zymil), only Soy milk (personally....yuck!!) To make up for it, they offered me a filtered long black to try! I must admit, I am not a black coffee drinker, but this was not bad, nice and smooth.
My daughter had a standard cappuccino and really enjoyed it.
They do have a small selection of cookies, donuts etc, as they are still in the process of setting up for prepared food options.
Once they have themselves truly established, this will be a great little place to add to your quality coffee hot spots.
We will return!! 3.5/5

Having just started to serve breakfast and lunch options, we decided to call in for lunch.
My daughter had the Breakfast Sausage burger and I had the Pastrami sandwich.
If you want something unpretentious but packed with flavour, you cannot go past. Coffee is excellent too, smooth but strong. I think I just found my new local coffee shop. Cannot fault it!! Have lactose free milk and it ill be a 5!!😉 4.5/5

Been a while since I have been and I must say word has spread about this little gem.
The guys are super friendly and still remembered us! They took our drink order as we tried to decide on what to eat. After much discussion, and asking the advice of a patron sitting beside us on the communal table we both opted for the Smoked Pastrami Sandwich. OMG!! Why has it taken me so long to return. That was honestly the most heavenly sandwich I have eaten! I also had a chilled Iced Latte and it was lovely and smooth and very refreshing. 5/5 guys! Keep up the fantastic work! 👍❤
Absolutely amazing place, super friendly staff and well designed food, coffee is at great level as well. Probably the kitchen smell is a bit strong, better to sit outside.
A nice little spot for speciality coffee and a quick catch up. Had a share serving of the filter coffee with a friend. Would recommend sitting inside on very sunny days as the outside/walkway seating can get fairly warm from the skylights.
Nice little spot for cup of good coffee and fresh toast! Lovely baristas!
Josie North is a small cafe, serving a nice breakfast and brunch to residents of Toowong and surrounds.
Loved the decor, and I personally wish I had the ability to grow plants at my house as well as you've grown the little vines that creep around the cosy cafe. It has a really nice aesthetic and I enjoyed my time there.
Coffee and food was small, but still fairly filling. It was cheap too, but you've not really getting amazing value because the serving sizes are a little on the small size. I got the falafels for $16 which were amazing, but my friend got the avocado on toast (also $16) and thought that it was a little plain for a $16 meal.
Coffee was honestly one of the best coffees I've had though. Great coffee.
I have had coffee here quite a few times. I have also tried a few of their food items and pastries. They are of really good quality and the coffee is probably the best in the area. The staff seem to be experienced and are super nice. Definitely recommended.
I'm absolutely in love with this cafe. The vibe of the place feels really calm, slow and peaceful. The interior is super clean and minimal and the coffee is AMAZING - beautiful, smooth and just the right strength. I dropped in after uni one afternoon for a pick-me-up and didn't want to leave. The food menu looks wonderful, but I'm yet to sample it. I'll definitely be back soon to try it though.
Staff extremely friendly and want you to have a good time. Coffee great and food menu is delicious.
Tucked away down an arcade near Toowong Village, you'd almost be forgiven for missing Josie North. If you're ever in the area, though, I absolutely recommend stopping by.
With a simplistic but delicious food menu and a consistently brilliant rotation of both espresso and filter brews available, Josie North offers one of the best brunch experiences this side of the CBD. Coupled with the plant-filled interior and friendly service, this is an experience I can't recommend enough.
