A great gem in inner south Brisbane. Perfect for any time of the day. Be warned - this is not the place to visit if you’re clean eating. Expect food loaded with cheese and bacon and all things good in the world. Drinks are a reasonable price and they have all the standard craft beers. Great spot for catching up with mates or low key dates.
Interesting place. Good vibe & plenty of young people keep this place busy most nights. Plenty of Beer/wine/spirits but not quite the normal selection -
NO XXXX (Gold or other) or Bundaberg Rum.
Best of the menu includes the Dirty Fries, Sliders or a burger (Come and Thai one). A bit of an American feel in the heart of BrisVegas
Great tastes & terrific service. Live music on the weekends.
Wednesday night is trivia night. Very much worth a visit

Stopped in for coffee with a friend great quite spot in the morning and love lounging around in the big comfy couch just chatting and watching the world pass by. The coffee was good, will be back.
This place has just about everything going for it. Great staff, scrumptious food and great atmosphere. Definitely worth checking out. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Really chilled out spot with an eclectic mix of Cafe (chocolate chilli chai) and cocktails (try the Lychee and passionfruit mohito). Staff are friendly and there's great variety of eatables and drinks.
Before we go any further, let me just say one thing: the palms ain't that shady. Ahhhh, it feels good to get that off my chest. As for the dining experience, ol' SPC is pretty sweet. Solid menu, interesting flavour pairings, and the venue itself is chill AF, with heaps of kitschy things to fix your gaze on. The burger buns (brioche, I think?) could be a bit more solid, but overall it's food worthy of getting your hands dirty.
I had my 21st here a few months back and it could not have gone more perfectly - I invited about 40 people, so the back bar was a great venue for a group of this size. Shadys allowed me to personalise inclusions on the bar tab, with no room hire fee, and the food was AMAZING. Highly recommend these guys for a function!!
Big night last night had us searching for recovery beers and burgers. Relaxed atmosphere except when the wind picked up shit got real and blew a large umbrella down and I had a palm tree dangling on my head. Otherwise was pretty chill vibe, probably also had something to do with smashing 3 brookvale ginger beers (on tap!). We would have rated it higher as it was value for $$ and I loved my pork belly burger and side of chilli cheese fries but hubby had the southern fried chicken with bacon Mac and cheese and didn't rate it that high. Mac n cheese was a tad meh and the chicken was a little dry. We will be back for a Sunday sesh again though, pretty keen to try the tacos.
This place is amazing for a lazy weekend breakfast. Decent coffee and simple, delicious meals.
If you like the music up in an eclectic, spacious surrounding you will really enjoy yourself here. I am yet to check it out at night, but it is on the to-do list.
Shady Palms is a pretty cool place to go in the suburbs to kick back with some casual drinks and food. The food is basic pub quality. I was generally disappointed with the flavours in my goats cheese slider as I couldn't really taste the goats cheese. It was dominated by the beetroot. This also made it quite messy to eat. An average eater would need at least a couple of these as they are very small. The chips were lovely and had a really nice mild spiced herb salt covering them. The flour tortilla chips came as a small serve and were not really good to share for this reason. Overall, a cool place but better for drinks than food.
Love the shady palms vego meal. It's the best breakfast and it is always going to be good. We had to wait a for my drinks as the waiter informed us that the cups are in the dishwasher. The only down side is if you have a pram they don't have much space.
Really cool place! Great atmosphere, bar and cafe. Good drink options, delicious meals and snacks. Gluten free and vegan options. Live music sometimes. A great place to go after work or on a Sunday arvo!
A quirky little oasis situated in Stones Corner, this venue has a cool vibe and atmosphere. It also boast an impressive breakfast menu, it was hard to choose just one dish!!
Their savoury pancakes was absolutely delicious- light and fluffy pancakes layered with juicy pulled pork and spicy kimchi- all drowning in delicious romesco hollandaise. Kimchi is traditionally a Korean fermented pickled side dish, but now it's one of the stars in this breakfast dish and it couldn't be more of a perfect pairing between kimchi and pulled pork.
Cheese burger and veggie burger were soo good. Cool place really chilled and great for a Sunday brunch with some cheeky craft beers. Staff are lovely and service was fast.
Tasty tasty! Came here for lunch & had the chicken wings, popcorn chicken soft tacos, cheeseburger and fresh juice. Really good flavour combos make the food extra tasty. Food was nicely presented and the interior decor is well thought out, interesting and fun! Lots of seating, the place is clean and the service was good. Decent drinks menu too!! Will be back, thanks.
The food here is really good and the atmosphere is nice too. My only complaint would be that it can get a bit messy sometimes, with wet floors and dirty glasses. And it is a bit silly giving people water in an old liquor bottle. Other than that, I really love coming here and would definitely recommend
I absolutely love Shady Palms, the relaxed environment, the outdoor seating area, and the beer selection! Its an amazing place to unwind with a crisp cold beer and a tasty burger. Keep up the great work!

Very nice modern foods with plenty of flavor combinations crossing different pallette preferences. Is it obvious that everyone have their own tastes, some dishes here may be stronger than others (which I like). In saying so, most dishes are quite well balanced with decent prices and good atmosphere to catchup and chat while enjoy a nice meal.
Nothing Shady about this place. With a need to go to Woollongabba on Saturday morning to run a few errands, we decided to rock up to the Shady Palms Cafe for brekkie before we got started. I had read good things about this place and decided it was high time to try them out and we were not disappointed at all.
With plenty of seating both out front and out back, we soon found ourselves a spot out of the sun (they could use a little more shade out in the courtyard, but hey no one was complaining). With an order at the counter system, there was no waiting around for the waitress - the biggest timing issue we had was deciding on what to order - the menu was super interesting with plenty to tempt.
Hubby ended up ordering the Brekky Burger and I went with the more interesting Gringo and Cheese Quesadilla with a side of crispy artichokes (I do love a mexican inspired breakfast - wish there were more places in Brisbane that did this), both washed down with flat whites. Hubby really enjoyed his brekkie burger and it looked delish - but it was just a brekky burger after all. My choice however was genius - out came most the delicious looking board - a generous serve of quesadilla with the yummiest bean salsa, a soft poached egg and then there was that side of artichoke - OMG I will dream about those for a long time to come.
The service was attentive and friendly, we didn't wait too long for anything and the food was really really good. I am certainly inspired to make a return visit to try out lunch or dinner at some stage and will definately be back for breakfast again. As I said nothing Shady about this place - just good service and good food!
Good food, good atmosphere, drinks a little pricey.. Liked the food, a little trendy, a little pricey but worth it for the atmosphere. Food was good!!
My new favourite café in Brisbane. There is nothing I don’t like about Shady Palms. I love the relaxed environment of the restaurant itself, with lots of comfy places to sit. It’s especially great on lazy sunny afternoons amongst the palm trees in the back courtyard. I love that they sell endless cups of iced tea and that they have a broad selection of ciders and craft beers. Their food is tasty and perfect for sharing, sliders, tacos, wings. My girl friends and I had a great lunch there recently and we got to try a bit of nearly everything on the menu for $17 each.
Late Sunday arvo coffee. If you're after a Sunday afternoon coffee and all your regular locals are closed, pop into Shady Palms Cafe. Tasty coffee that won't disappoint. Everyone has been in this situation. It's after 1 or 2pm on Sunday afternoon. You need coffee, stat and don't want to give in to buying (heaven forbid!) McDonalds, Gloria Jeans, The Coffee Club, 7-Eleven (!!!). You've run out of beans at home. You're out of pods.
Quick and reliable service. Food looked and smelt amazing. Hip and chilled out cafe, great spot for a weekend catch up.
Rockin' the suburbs. I’m rocking the suburbs. Just like Michael Jackson did. I’m rocking the suburbs... Shady Palms is a suburban addition to the Nuevo-American cuisine scene that is fast taking over Brisbane. This quirky little oasis combines southern charm with rustic Queenslander style to offer an eclectically furnished restaurant complete with a funky little laneway and ambient back garden courtyard. Offering uniquely trendy eats for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Shady Palms is a magnet for foodies, wanderers and expat travellers reminiscing for a little piece of home. Designed to share, the lunch and dinner menu is best served socially with a cold craft beer, boutique wine or jug of something delicious on the side. We had a crack at the signature sliders and the fried potatoes. Whilst we wouldn’t consider either life changing, paired with a jug of our beloved Stone & Wood Pacific Ale made the night one we will relive again in the not so distant future.
Quirky. OK, I have to admit I live only a few minutes away from Shady, so......I've been there at least a dozen of times since they opened last year. And overall its been a very positive experience. Whether you're looking for a great breakfast, a healthy lunch, something different for dinner or just some cool drinks or cocktails on a weekend afternoon, this place has it all. Bec and Mal, owners of the famous Lady Marmalade just down the road, have put all their experience into the place and it shows. Consistently good food and friendly staff. Yes, sometimes its so packed that you have to wait for your food and staff is a bit stressed out, but its worth it. And one of the few places that really put an effort into their background music, specially in the night, expect quirky Indie mixed with old mainstream favourites. If you like Kerbside in the Valley, you will love this one.
Breakfast, lunch or weekend afternoon drinks - it's all good. Title says it all - when you're looking for a trendy breakfast, a relaxed lunch or some chilled Saturday afternoon drinks before heading out, this place has you covered. My only complaints are that the bottled beers/ciders are a couple of dollars overpriced, and the whole place borders on being too full of itself with how kitsch it is, but I've come to put up with this for the sake of consistently excellent food and friendly staff.
Love it.. I had the Vegetarian breakfast which came with the usual stuff but it had corn bread and corn salsa added. I really enjoyed it. Coffee was good and service was friendly. I would recommend.
Such a cool spot in stones corner. Honestly would never have found this joint. really glad we did though. Drove past this funky looking place, and decided to stop and have a look. Took us a while to park.
Eventually got there and walked into this really relaxed environment. The staff were friendly. The Decor was interesting felt like we walked into a house with heaps of art and graffiti around, tables at the back were of different sizes shapes and chairs weren't exactly matching. The table number we got was of the beatles, and the other table numbers were of other famous people. This place is down right awesome. From the time we walked in to the time we left there was a lot to look at, an experience throughout. Their sliders were awesome tiny little amusing burgers which were absolutely delicious. Mate ordered a soft shell crab burger which she couldn't stop raving about so I had a bite of course. Understood why. From start to finish it was a great experience.
Why don't places like this come up more. Before we left we found out the owners were in my kitchen rules. This little nook is a definite go to. Beats any place I have been to yet just for the ambience and the quirky experience the whole way through, the awesome food and drink were just bonuses honestly.
Vibe reminds us of Northcote or Brunswick. So great that we finally have somewhere half decent to take 8 and 11 year old after school to eat drink and linger with fab tunes, gorgeous and knowledgable staff. Food amazing taste and presentation while good value. Drinks are stand alone amazing. Can not get enough of this place. Notice other reviews complain of long wait times. We were having such a good time food arrived when expected but could have taken longer as we were not in a rush. If we were in a rush we probably would have got take away from the rock And roll bakery on Logan Road.
Great atmosphere and beer garden, food pretty tasty as well!. Went there on a Saturday night for first time and I have to say it was a real breath of fresh air! Older crowd than in the valley hot spots and bit more of a chilled vibe with a Dj spinning vinyls and the beer garden out the back is awesome. I am quite partial to American cuisine but didn't try the sliders (just got back from eat street where I had sliders lol). What I did try though was the hand cut fries (great), hot wings (ok), double cheese burger (good) and pulled beef roll (ok). The overall experience was very positive with the food being nice but it could be executed slightly better. If they do that they are on to a winner!!
Amazeballs!!! The sliders were delicious, I just needed 10 more!!
Brilliant. Had dinner here on saturday night and absolutely loved it all great atmosphere and staff. The food was by far the highlight of the visit. southern fried chicken was the best i've had and the crispy crab burger was DELICIOUS!!! keep it up
Just a great place. Great menu, great drinks, great vibe, great place.
Sliders, tacos, fried chicken ... all were delicious. Am keen to try a sub on my next visit.
Been here a couple of times and looking forward to returning.
Thankyou and Merry Xmas. My company had our work Christmas party at Shady Palms last weekend. What a wonderful venue. We had the back garden area and the undercover bar for 160 people ranging from 18 y/o to me (old!). While the weather looked ominous it held off and we had a really great time. The staff were amazingly friendly, the food really fresh and different, and very tasty, and there was a great selection of drinks. This isn't the sort of place I usually feel comfortable- hipster looking staff, odd sounding music, those fancy lightbulbs, taxidermy and the like but I must admit I was wrong to judge this book by its cover. Its a very warm and inviting place and im actually back here having a wonderful breakfast as I write. Try the Arapas it really good!
All in all a great night (and breaky) that I highly recommend
Great Christmas Party. Just wanted to thankyou so much for the amazing work Christmas party we had at Shady Palms on the weekend. The super friendly service couldn't be faulted, the canapés were unbelievable (especially the ceviche and the empanadas!) and the drinks were especially tasty during the hot weather (try the Zombie!).
I looked around a lot of venues for groups of 100+ where I could get a bit of semi private indoor as well as some outdoor space and they were surprisingly hard to find (or very expensive). Shadys fitted the bill perfectly and im guessing we'll be back for more fun and frivolities next Xmas! I especially enjoyed dancing to the DJ they had on too!
Love it!!!. It's so great to have a cool bar/cafe open up in Stones Corner. Shady Palms is really welcoming and has an interesting menu of food and drinks.
We first came here for breaky and loved the atmosphere and the great food. Our meals arrived at our table quickly and the food was fresh and well cooked. (I love the fact they have a little home-made muffin instead of toast!)
We decided that we'd have to return for a Saturday arvo sipping on cocktails and watching the world go by. We ended up not wanting to leave and stayed for tacos for dinner.
The cocktail jugs were delicious and they have an extensive range of beers and ciders.
I can't fault this place. The staff are great and unlike some other trendy places around Brisbane you don't feel like you have to be uber cool to hang out.
Will definitely be returning and bringing more friends next time!!!
P.S. If you haven't already, walk down around the corner and check out these guys other sweet cafe Lady Marmalade!!!
Mixed feelings..... Whenever I have driven past this place it seems to scream "Ultra cool" at me as I look in - almost intimidatingly so! So I was surprised that once we crossed the threshold and were actually in the venue, it was really warm and cosy.
Whoever knew that all this space existed in this place. The previous Thai establishments had not utilised it to my knowledge.
The good points were that the staff were super eager to please and noticeably happy. The menu offers some really different options to most places and the beer list is full of really interesting craft beers. And the chef who is doing the poached eggs - he does them perfectly if you love a soft poached egg.
The not so good is that the coffee, whilst tasted good, wasn't silky - more crusty looking. You eat with your eyes too and these coffees weren't pretty. We waited quite a while for our food to come and so noticed that the 2 small group tables next to us seemed to get their meals in 2 separate batches with the first half of the tables not sure if they should be waiting or eating while hot.
The real disappointment though was the corn bread (inedible and bland) and the cleanliness of the place. The floor was so bad inside that we moved outside there were many cigarette butts on the floor.
If the staff could be more efficient and structured it would go a long way to catching up to the atmosphere and setting. I will go back for a drink and to try something else to eat as it looks like a great venue for a beverage with all the lights coming on at night.
I am not left with a feeling that I didn't like it - has some great ingredients and a really humble feel but just needs some work!
Amazeballs!!!. We came in a bit early for lunch on the weekend and had to wait an hour before the lunch menu was in place, which was fine as we had great company. We ordered so much food, but the best were the sliders. It was so delicious, everyone was fighting over them, we decided we had to order more. Everything else was awesome but the highlight for us were those amazing sliders. Can't wait to come back.
Trendy little nook, hip to the groove. Happened upon this place Sunday afternoon whilst on the search for American-style bites. Even though I only live a couple of suburbs over, I hadn't been to Stones Corner in years. My memories of the place were out-dated outlet stores, boring eateries and a run of the mill local pub. It seems that these days (in large part due to the additions of Shady Palms and Lady Marmalade) Stones Corner is set to become a bit of a trendy little spot. There's some cool alternative-style boutiques I'm planning to check out on my already scheduled return visit, and Shady Palms alone makes the trip worthwhile.
The atmosphere of the bar/cafe is incredibly hip, but don't let that turn you off ;). It's a bit like setting foot into some hipster wet dream/South American bar-style venue. The place is much bigger than it appears from the outside, with two large indoor spaces and another outdoor space spanning down the side and back of the venue. The whole place is very open-plan, and decorated with a trendy flair. Cutlery comes out in jars, furniture is miss-matched, instead of a table number you get a famous social icon, and the food is served on wooden boards. You get the idea. The clientele on our visit included more than a few hipster beards and skinny jeans, and everyone seemed to be having an excellent time. It's counter services, so after perusing the menu (which is attached to a wooden clip-board, because there is no trendier a way to display a menu) we settled on a mixture of sliders, the southern chicken and the polenta chips with blue cheese sauce.
The sliders were lovely, the little buns were sweet and the contents were delicious. My favourite was the fried green tomato offering, thought the beef was lovely as well. My only complaint: The menu online mentions a buttermilk chicken slider... guys, this sounds amazing... WHY would you take that off the menu??? Seriously, very uncool. The polenta chips were something different and they were really yummy with the cheese sauce. The southern-style chicken was tasty and moist, and the coating was delicious. I also ordered a homemade nutella milk shake which washed everything down in a river of chocolaty goodness.
Somehow we managed to find room for dessert and ordered a trio of ice cream with some interesting flavours: sweet corn, gingerbread and pecan. The gingerbread was a stand out for me, and I will definitely be ordering this again on my next visit.
Already planning a return, and would love to invite some friends for a Friday or Saturday night session, though I suspect with the trendy-newness it's liable to get quite busy during peak times. Will probably take the risk though, as it really is an awesome venue.
Last thoughts: Buttermilk chicken slider... I personally feel this should be back on the menu, cause I want it in my belly. That is all.
Good atmosphere, great finger food, friendly staff. Can't wait to go back.
Sliders were really yummy but I had the one with a salted cod fritter and it was full of fish bones, not good!
Loved it!!. Loved the food, good drinks list, and a brilliant venue!
Fantastic. This place is awesome. Went there for a friends going away party and the food was really good. The ambience is even better. It's probably a bit too hipster for me overall (*shudders* haha) but I will definitely go again.
Great food and atmosphere. This place has a nice laid-back summer vibe to it. It is always packed but isn't too loud because there is plenty of space between each table. We ordered the sliders, in particular the wagyu beef slider with the mustard is awesome. They also have an interesting variety of drinks, I like the oreo milkshake. We will definitely be going back.
Great service and good selection of beers, if you like a wine, the options are limited, but spirits aplenty.
The venue has a great retro vibe with plenty of quirky things to keep your eyes interested. The tunes are an eclectic range of retro bangers and there is a great inside and outside option to meet up with friends.
A couple of extra staff would have spend things up, but the team are great and really love going down there for a few bevvies
Great service, lively music, and funky secret garden out back. Cool place.
Loved it here. Great beer garden, really good food.
Great atmosphere and location. Classic 'hotel style' food but with an extra touch. Special mention to the 1/2kg of prawns + Tiger for only $18. A bar/restaurant to visit if you are in the amazing Stones Corner suburb!
