One of the best Mexican chains. Our beef enchiladas was Huge and absolutely delicious. The meat was tender, the rice and beans were soft and tasty, the wrap was just perfect and the nachos on the side really topped it off. A wandering ibis kept loitering by our table, but other than that I have no complaints.
Guzman Gomez serves up generous meals of Tex Mex. There are vegetarian options & plenty of complimentary hot sauces & jalapenos. My order was the vegetarian bowl which came with rice & an assortment of vegetables topped with a generous portion of guacamole. The prices are pretty good as is the service
Went yesterday for lunch with workmates and it was ace. I'm not sure how you can stuff up with nachos, but it seems Guzman doesn't know either. They were great.
The chicken was tasty and tender, the guac was soft and well balanced and just the right amount of cheese. I added sour cream and there could have been a little more of it too be honest.
Plenty of sides to help yourself with, like chipotle and habañero sauces and jalapeño slices. Vamos! Arriba!
Quality of the food was great but they stuffed up my order :(
Other than that it was really good.
I love the new vegan sauce they do instead of cheese.
I ordered burrito bowl and nacho chips from day one of outing in Brisbane. I tasted Guacamole dip first time here. My experience was wordless. The perfect amount of seasoning and lemon squeezed in guacamole made my dinner perfect. The nacho chips were crisp and up to the point. Coming to burrito bowl, it was full of rice, beans, vegetable, sour cream, guacamole along with extra dip of hot sauce, chilly sauce, onions and chillies. I personally love the combination. A statutory warning for all whose are not spicy food lovers, don't add hot sauce to burrit bowl it may spoil taste for you.
Food, service and location was great. I go to Guzman every now and then and the food never disappoints. This is definitely my favourite Mexican restaurant.
Meatballs And Beef Cheeks
+3.5
The Meatballs Family paid Guzman y Gomez a visit for some burritos following an early movie over the weekend.
We ordered a Spicy Steak Burrito with Guacamole and Brown Rice ($15), Little Guys Beef Burrito with Beans ($6.00) and a Little Guys Beef Burrito ($5.50). We also ordered a small order of Fries ($3).
The burritos were good, but nothing special and the amount of filling is definitely decreasing over time. The burritos rated 3.5.
I ordered salted fries, but was served chipotle-seasoned fries. Mini Meatball wouldn't even try them and Lady Meatball and I only ate a couple each. The fries weren't spicy, but I just didn't enjoy them enough to keep eating them. I should probably have requested a new order. As they were, they rated 2.5.
My previous comments remain relevant - GYG continue to become more 'Australian' and less 'Mexican'. Thus, I have dropped their overall rating to a 3.5.

Guzman y Gomez still make the best burritos in Brisbane and I still prefer their Southbank location, but they continue to change and become more 'Australian' and less 'Mexican'.
Where once you could purchase Beef Guerrero and Steak Chipotle, now they offer Slow Cooked Beef and Grilled Steak.
Fries and Nacho Fries have been added to the menu and you can now order enchiladas and sides of meat where you once couldn't.
Still the best - just wish they would hold firmer to their identity and let their quality food and authentic flavors speak for themselves.

In my opinion, Guzman y Gomez makes the best burritos in Brisbane and their Southbank location is my favorite. My wife, daughter and I used to eat burritos here once a week - Steak Chipotle (spicy) for my wife, Chicken Guerrero for my daughter and Beef Guerrero for me. Sometimes I purchase a second one to reheat for breakfast or to take for lunch the next day. I could live without the cilantro in the rice, but it has never really gotten in the way. I've also tried the tacos, quesadillas and nachos, but keep coming back to the burritos...delicious!
Ima sucker for gimmicks. Download the GyG app & get a free burrito...? Yep I'm on board this freebie train! Rode it in-store, collected my spicy grilled chicken goodness & choo-choo'd my way to destination burrito baby.
Given the passage of time, I'll cough up my own coin & purchase another. Maybe even of a different varietal - they're all so tasty. Oh & those corn chips are next level so maybe nachos next time....welcome to Platform Indecision - passengers: me. Thanks GyG!
Pricy as Guzman would be but always had a good meal. The staff are lovely and never had a bad experience at this place. Came several times with my classmates and can guarantee a good meal if you're willing to spend a few extra bucks.
Mrs Kan Do and I felt like something simple and fast for dinner after our heavy dumpling laden lunch, and Guzman y Gomez fit the bill.
We ordered a mini burrito with slow cooked beef and a burrito bowl with grilled steak, both with guacamole and the burrito with sour cream. Both were done well, as well as other Guzman y Gomez places I have been to in the City and Mt Gravatt, and service was quick and efficient.
I would agree with Meatballs And Beef Cheeks that Guzman y Gomez beats the pants off most 'Mexican' restaurants in Brisbane, with the sole exception of El Torito in West End.
I am a huge fan of this franchise. The south bank store in particular is quite good in terms of it's design. I ended up drinking a margarita and eating some chicken quesadillas. It definitely put me in a good mood. Overall 4 stars!
Nice fit out and great service but the burritos weren't as tasty as the broadbeach location. Still pretty good though, I would go again for sure.

Barramundi Burrito Bowl. SO GOOD!!
I have eaten this dish so many times. Not like other Mexican places I have tried, this franchise restaurant offers a healthy and yummy fish menu. How lucky I am to have this place nearby. The barramundi was consistently fresh and tasty, and it didn't have strong fishy smell. The portion size was generous so it was reasonably priced ($11.5). This place was nice and spacious. The food came quite quickly and the staff offered service with a smile. So it is a must place to visit.
There's Mexican's (as in restaurants) then there's Mexicans. Guzman y Gomez, whoever you are, wherever you are, Mr, you've got a hand worth shaking and a burrito, fajita or nacho worth eating.
No doubt, you will hear about other places that 'this other Mexican restaurant is the real deal' and blows a high street Mexican place like Guzman into oblivion. Yet on the evidence I've seen - from Mad Mex to Montezuma's - they don't come close.
Guzman is very consistent with decent sized servings (don't eat on a half full stomach) and, above all, quality ingredients with a great balance in taste. The Burrito bowl or tortilla wrap has well marinated meat (steak or chicken) cheese, beans, chopped veggies and rice.
Additionally, loading up with delicious extra options such as brown rice and guacamole makes it healthier, tastier, bigger and better. So many places get it wrong, adding lettuce etc, or another inappropriate type of veg, sauce etc, but there's no worries in this department here. There's also a choice of three sauces and pickles, coriander and red onion available for free.
Finally, the Lemon Snapple tea is a beauty of a drink - stuff coke, gimme some of this instead any day. Closing on a unstoppable high, service was ultra fast and super friendly. 'Arriba Arriba'...
Slightly pricey for a student but I still come here often. The burritos are positively moreish! I've never had a problem eating here - definitely recommend.
Love this place! Perfect position and they have a huge front seating area which is amazing for their frozem cocktails! Burritos are divine. They cook all meat on site and the smell is perfect. Nachos even better.
Had a late night burrito, it was awesome. Got the veggie, no cheese, on a whole wheat tortilla. And a beer. Two actually. My friend got an enchilada and it looked great too.
Love it. I only found this place a few weeks ago and have already been back for more. chicken burrito is amazing and fills me right up. I am a fan of mad mex but this place is better. would definitely recommend going there
Actually went to the NLakes one . Ordered the Pork Chipotle Burrito and had a Icy cold sangria to wash it down . It was amazing . Left me wanting MORE. !
Staff were great - friendly and fast service .
I am a very plane person who doesn't try new things. A friend made me try his and now I'm hooked. Great Mexican and friendly staff.
Friendly staff, burritos are quite good. As a Californian, who lived on burritos in my native land, G&G is a good approximation
Walking around late when most places were shut, decided to give it a try. Partner enjoyed the burrito bowl while i enjoyed an enchilada with pulled pork.
Glad we tried it because the food was fresh and full of flavour. Place was tidy and young fella that served us was very friendly.
Absolutely love this restaurant. Everyone from the staff up to the management team are amazing. The turnaround time for orders is insanely fast and the portion sizes are great. This is my favourite GYG and now my new favourite restaurant. The team really needs to be commended on all their hard work!
For some reason I'm sure Guzman from South Bank tastes better! Even after a 5 minute walk back to the car and 15 minute drive home it still tasted delicious. Definitely. Definitely my favourite take away Mexican!
